Wrights Fish & Chip Shop is my favourite chippy in Manchester City centre. Chips are cooked to perfection and fish is cooked perfectly in the best batter I have tasted in Manchester. I remember coming here for the first time with my mum I was impressed, the taste of the fish and batter won me over. I have been coming back here ever since and quality has always been to a high standard. Staff here are very friendly, chippy its self very clean and in a good location. So best quality fish & chips I have tasted in Manchester City centre area, Well worth a try for anyone looking for a Traditional English Fish & Chips.

Great fish and chip shop. Never had a bad meal here. Fairly priced, big portions, friendly staff, great city centre location. So popular you sometimes have to queue out of the door. There is seating for eating in, or obviously takeaway. If you want to treat yourself, go to Wright's. Excellent.

Staff friendly. Just a few minutes wait while your fish is being deep fried so everything comes piping hot. No charge for mayonnaise. Chips portion may look a touch small but I still managed to leave a few. Overall a very tasty meal at a fair price.

For Lancastrian fish and chips these where top draw. They where the perfect cure for the hangover we were carrying around all day. Fish, chips and a Chinese curry sauce worked a treat. Good quality fish cooked with a a light batter and a portion of fluffy but crispy chips. We will definitely be back and would recommend to anybody in town.

Previous visits and a good reputation sent me back here for a late lunch, I was craving fish n chips. However I was rather disappointed on this occasion. The fish was tasty enough but quite small, and the server swamped it in vinegar. The batter could have been crispier and the fish wasn't as piping hot as you'd expect considering it's freshly cooked to order. The chips likewise were lukewarm, and lacked that juicy inside, crispy outside quality we all love. Next time I'll be going that extra 5 minutes to Liverpool Road chippy, for a more seaside-town portion of the nation's favourite takeaway.

It starts with the smell from the street, and it only gets better as you walk inside. Decent portions and prices. Staff have always been friendly. It's very bright and welcoming and always looks clean, they clearly take pride in what they do. I've never seen it empty yet I've never waited long for my food so I honestly don't have a bad thing to say about this place.

There's a dearth of decent fish and chip shops in Manchester; not just in the centre but generally. The order of the day is usually frozen fish and soggy chips but Wrights is not bad. The batter is crisp, the fish not overcooked, the chips are okay. Portions are a bit mean compared with a local chippy but not insultingly so. The traditional retro feel is manufactured, they actually opened in 2013, but If you fancy fish and chips while your in town Wright's is better than most.

What a chippy should be... It doesn't hurt that they create the right vibe with their tiled walls, old fashioned signage and dark wood cabinets. It's a refreshing change to see a proper menu at a chippy including black pudding, pies, puddings, spam fritters as well as a choice of fish. All cooked to order, more or less, and happy to add the golden pearls, scraps if asked. No wonder that the queue runs into the street at lunchtimes.

I had been pining for good fish and chips for months before my trip to Manchester. Lucky for me I stumbled onto Wright's Fish & Chip shop, located in the city centre within view of the Town Hall. I ordered the haddock and small chips. Everything was cooked to order. The fish was fresh and flaky without being overcooked, and the chips were crisp, not greasy or limp. Fish and chips doesn't get better than this. Top marks!

Let me just say I think this might possibly be the greatest chip shop I've ever been to in my life. A bold statement I know but the chips are just that good! The quality comes at a price, it's probably not the cheapest chip shop you are likely to have been to. But the quality justifies the price. "FISH & CHIPS!" we said... ...we asked where the nearest chippy was & were quickly directed to WRIGHTS where we struck gold & had a lovely meal. Fish chips & peas £4.50 plus Meat & Potato pie chips & Irish curry sauce £4.90: beautifully cooked, service with a smile & good portions (REGULAR serving of chips is plenty enough) BTW I've read a couple of reviews complaining about prices here. REALLY? SERIOUSLY?? See how much change you get from a fiver next time you visit Costa Etc & order a Raspberry Muffin with your Mocha Coffee compared to the hearty meal you get from Wrights for the same money - THEN you can complain about prices. This is a traditional chippy, immaculate inside & serving fine food in the heart of central Manchester (right next to St Anne's Square) paying top business rates on their shop. I for one am glad to have found them & as Arnie says "we'll be back"
