Absolutely love Thai Modern. We've been 3 times and have never left disappointed. Great value, especially the banquets. Food is always beautiful, as tasty as it looks. The decorative tables and chairs are just as stunning. The only criticism is the lighting and the low volume of the traditional music.

I went to Thai Modern Restaurant on a recent visit to Milton Keynes and this seemed to be the best option for myself as a vegan and my partner who is not. We were certainly not disappointed. The restaurant has beautiful decor and ambiance. The service was exceptional and the furniture and decor were also first class. On perusing the menu I was delighted to find that there was such a wide variety of dishes for vegans. It was lovely actually having a choice, which so often isn’t the case when I eat out. Everything we ordered was delicious, beautifully presented and very satisfying. A great experience that I’d highly recommend. Hope to visit again soon.

This was our first time visiting and I honestly have nothing I could fault. We originally booked a table for two for 8.15pm but ended up getting there at just after 7pm; staff kindly accommodated our request to seat us earlier. Food was good (perfect portion sizes!), staff were polite (even when I accidentally broke a vase on the way out) and attentive. Although they were fairly busy, food arrived in good time. Overall, a really good experience and would be happy to return to try some more things from their menu.

Visited for the first time today and it was a lovely experience. Loving the aesthetics inside and especially the little candle ceramic warmers for the food! The food overall tasted really good, however some dishes, the portion sizes bit small. It is a bit hidden away as it’s not attached to the shopping centre but definitely worth a visit!

Visited for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. It's quite difficult to spot from the outside but the inside had been decorated very well and stands out a lot from the rest of Milton Keynes. The staff were attentive, smiling and polite. The food was excellent with a nice variety to choose from. A little bit on the pricey side but you get what you pay for. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful Thai restaurant, excellent traditional Thai dishes, hidden away in Central Milton Keynes. After hearing many good things from several people we finally visited Modern Thai. It’s tucked away in a side street, without any big signs - you really need to seek this place out. The decor is very ornate with carved wooden tables and chairs, beautifully table settings, and staff wearing colourful traditional outfits. The food was sensational! The duck curry was outstanding- best curry I’ve had in many many years. Chicken satay was wonderful too. All food is beautifully presented - a real feast for the eyes. Service was excellent too. Loved this place - will definitely be back soon.

Probably the best Thai restaurant I have experienced especially in Milton Keynes, the menu is also quite diverse and I would be surprised if you could not find something to eat that you liked. If you like Thai food the eat here, it's as simple as that really.

Working for a company based in Milton Keynes for the last 15+years, I cannot understand how myself and my colleges have never come across the place given that its been there for 10 years! Delicious food and amazing décor. Although the service could do with a bit of improvement, we were seated quickly but struggled to ask for menus. I think they were being kept busy by a large party of people. If they were more attentive it would have been a perfect experience.

Went on a very busy Friday night as a family and were told the table would need to be vacated in 2 hours. This was fine as we really wanted to try Thai and Orchid Lounge was closed. Lovely decorative furnishings and statues that really add to the experience, including fantastic carved wooden tables. The service, food and drinks all came in a timely fashion and we complete within the 2 hours. Food was nice, with good portions and presented very nicely with shapes like flowers carved out of vegetables on the dishes. I'm glad Orchid Lounge was closed as otherwise I would never have found this place. Recommended.

After hearing many good things I was really looking forward to my meal here ! I would like to start by saying this is one of the most amazing looking décor I have seen in a UK restaurant. Every single detail was amazing, caved tables and chairs, beautiful walls and plants around. Visually very stunning!! A very lovely menu choice, had something for everyone on there ranging from bland to very spicy. I ordered Calamari for starter, which came very very quickly. (not even 10 minutes after ordering) it was a nice size portion but not quite cooked enough for my personal liking For Mains I had Garlic Fried Rice and Massumum Beef Curry. Again service was very quick and served on some lovely warmers to keep everything fresh. The rice was very pleasing to eat, but the curry was watery and quite bland tasting. Although service was extremely quick - I feel like taking a little extra time cooking would have been much more beneficial to the taste. Overall I feel like this is somewhere people should definitely go to - even if just to sit and admire the beautiful décor. The food was nice, but not of the highest standards for myself, although I would like to go back and try something else to see!

Love the Thai Modern. Best Thai I have had in the UK. They always use fine ingredients. The menu has a really good selection and most importantly the food tastes amazing. My sister is vegan and she said it has so many choices for vegans too so if you are trying to find somewhere in Milton Keynes then this is the place to go! You have to dine in to get the best experience here but the takeaway still tastes just as great you just don't get that personalised service with all the hand carved vegetables and ornate plates. Also if you like really hot I recommend the jungle curry! In regards to price I really think you get what you pay for and that there prices are reasonable for the food they offer.

Food was nice and plentiful, but they were very busy which meant very long waits. 30 minutes for starters and a further 40 minutes after starters for mains. Lack of staff capacity was very evident. The toilets were clean enough, but a bit odd that the door to the men's was kept wedged open? Friendly staff.

Great place to visit for Buffet lunch on Sunday. The quality of the food is superb and staff are friendly and helpful. Pity they close by 2 pm. At other times, food could be pricey but it's worth it.

We ordered the emerald mixed starters (2) kaeng pa kai (e22) phad Thai kai (36) and khao phad sapparod (115) and I have to say, we thouroughly enjoyed this. It was amazing! Very flavourful and decent portions. The added touch was the dipping sauces with the starters, they wernt like the cheap ones you get that are mainly sugar/addatives, but very fresh and complimented the dishes perfectly. Thanks very much as it was our first time ordering from here.

Great 1st experience here for lunch. Went for the chicken pad thai and it was lovely. Generous portion and well presented. Had chicken satay as starter alongside this and it was also very nice. Will be back again. Parking is plentiful and covid friendly measures are in place with cleaning stations and hand sanitizers.

Maybe I've just been too many times now, but my feeling is that the food and its presentation is not the standard it was a few years back. The sharer starter used to be the highlight of the visit for us; I'm sure it used to have sticky ribs amongst the regular prawn toast etc and presentation was half of the charm, but it now just looks 'ok' rather than anything more. We only had 2 mains, but the massaman wasn't as good as we remembered, the chicken being very thinly sliced and not much of it. The more spicy chili lamb dish I had was pretty good though, (although I can't remember the name of it) Coconut rice was OK, however the sticky rice was overcooked and dry... We should have asked for another as I'm sure they would have changed it, but we had 2 very fidgety kids so chose to eat quickly and move on. The place still looks good and has a nice vibe. Flavours are good, but as stated it just doesn't feel as special a place as it used to.

So much to choose from and the food we had was amazing 😀 they were really busy and needed our table for a second sitting. Fabulous starters and mains, lovely surroundings, very nice wine, great value. All of our curries were gorgeous. The only thing that let it down was the dessert - so I'd give it a miss. Mine was basically a bowl of jam :( I will definitely return for what was a delicious selection of Thai food. :)

Although placing the orders was a little slow, the food came out amazingly fast. The starter platter was large and everything was delicious. Good sized portions, although the rice portions are a bit on the small side if you have a spicy dish. I ordered my Chicken Pad Kaprow at medium spicy and it was full-on - I don't know if it was full spice and they forgot, or if medium there was just extra intense.

Nice to be back at the Thai Modern for a delicious lunch today. The restaurant was spotless and social distancing measures were in place. Lots of hand sanitiser, tables at a safe distance and the staff all wearing PPE. My pregnant wife and I both felt very safe. As usual, the staff were great, and the food was brilliant. Looking forward to coming back again soon and would highly recommend!!

Went here as a group of 3 families with young children for a weeknd dinner. Good things first: interior decoration, quality of food, parking. Loved the carvings on the dining table. Food tasted good and well presented. The food portions are a mixed bag here, starter portions are fine for one adult but main Thai curry dishes likely to serve 2-3 adults. Food serving was quick. The things I didn't like was overall service. We were there at 2130 and restaurant closure time is 2230. I'd understand they want orders taken but despite us asking for a few mins to go through the menu, thrice we were asked to order. The other thing is marking on the bill that there has been no service charge added when people are likely to go through the bill and find themselves out. If I like the service and food I always contribute if service charge has not been included.

Been here a couple of times now, both at lunch time and also in the evening. At lunch there is a much smaller menu selection but this doesn't detract from the quality of the food, and for what you get it's very reasonably priced. The evening menu is much more comprehensive and incorporates all of the usual Thai dishes you would expect to see and others that you wouldn't. For a local, independent business to survive in the centre of Milton Keynes they're obviously doing something right and deserve to be supported.

Lovely ambience and friendly staff. Easy parking, cosy seating.. everything looked perfect for a evening to remember until the food arrived. EVERYTHING was deep fried and caky with oil.. Had to force myself to eat the bare minimum ordered. Changed our minds about ordering more and left.. Would have given it a 10 star rating out of 5 if the food had even been passable as everything else was absolutely perfect!

Second time visiting the Thai Modern and overall a nice restaurant. Food was great, having had both staters and mains, and service was attentive. Menu was varied and easily catered for my dairy intolernace. Portions were a good size so left feeling full and content. Not 5 stars as our sticky rice wasnt cooked great but wouldn't be a reason not to visit. Would recommend to try this place out if you like Thai food.

We had our group dinner at Thai Modern. Atmosphere was superb, love all the tablewares especially the coffee cup. Though service was extremely slow, some dishes tasted too sweet in my opinion.

Don't go here on a Sunday! I want to be sure there's a table for me close to the food!!! Sorry for being selfish, but the Sunday buffet is not just good value in the way that other restaurants' "all-you-can-eat" deals are, but the quality, variety and quantity of the extensive range of dishes are absolutely fantastic. Starters and soup, fish and meat dishes (from tasty to very spicy) and enough veggy options that the most woke would not feel left out. The fruit is apparently nice too, but I was too busy with the Cream Crunchie Cake to notice. At £16.95 a head for adults this is a steal. The staff are beautifully mannered, attentive and helpful. The deccor is fabuous, and the only minor downside is that the gloriously carved chairs force you to sit up, thereby preventing you from slumping into a post-prandial relapse.

Great looking location, perfect for the place for my leaving do at work. We had booked it in advance for a large group and even though some were no-shows they were happy to accomodate for us with a reduced table size. Whilst they have a good vegetarian set menu and price for it, the individual dishes are little more expensive. I would have got the vegetarian set menu if they allowed for one but I was refused unfortunately - which is understandable as set menus are made for 2+. I argued that the rest of my friends are having the non-veg set menus so can anything be done for me but the waiter was quite strong in declining. Otherwise food was ok, I had a veg tempura and pad thai as the only filling alternative to the set menu.

Authentic Thai cuisine, food is delicious though not so generous. The place is very nice with wood carvings on back of chairs and table. They don't offer Thai drinks and dessert so a little disappointing as I love Thai desserts.
