Cute little restaurant between the cathedral and central train station in Newcastle. Informal setting, like a canteen open kitchen and a limited but solid selection of dishes all based on chicken. I had 1/2 chicken with fries and salad. It was delicious, large portions. The local ale was also good. Excellent for a quick meal while sightseeing or shopping.

Venue = cool. Service = very good. Chicken = disappointing. The burger is nice but the chicken isn't noticeable. The quality of the wings is below standard for Newcastle (broken bones and lacking meat). They are frugal on sauce, both on the wings and the "saucy" burger. Worth a try but I wouldn't go back.

Absolutely the best chicken in Newcastle, be it wings, strippers or burgers. The real star is the amazing range of sauces available for that chicken, all delicious and varied, you can get either a shot (seen in the pictures) or take a whole bottle home with you. The Coop was an awesome find whilst visiting Newcastle. Staff were all super friendly and couldn't do enough for us and the food was amazing. We all had something different and all agreed it was the best chicken we'd had. On top of this the venue looks great and has a lively relaxed feel to it.

Most underrated place in NCL! The quality of the food here is top tier, and it’s very high value for the price. I feel like the current chef has absolutely mastered the ‘dirty box’. This is the best chicken place I have been to since I have been in England. I would highly recommend this place. Even though they didn't have any wet wipes - don't let that discourage you. This place is a must visit, a must eat if you go to Newcastle. The art and decor is a very rustic and wooden-like appearance. Honestly, what's not to like? I'll be back.

A hidden food gem in Newcastle! This place is tucked away on the walking route from Newcastle Anglican Cathedral and the Central Station. But don't pass it by! My friend recommended it and the food is great. Very much "chicken based" - roast chicken, chicken wings, chicken burders (!?!) - but they do it well. Loved the fries that came with the burder - crisp and flavoursome outside, soft and just the right side of moist inside. You could choose plain roast chicken or spicy wings. The sort of place where families can all find something they would eat - unless you've a vegetarian or vegan in the company, in which case, I suggest you look for a more appropriate eating place. But if Chicken suits your appetite, go enjoy!

Popped in on a Friday lunchtime. Busy with locals and a really great vibe. Service was really great though wait time on food was a little long. Chicken as desired was perfect though sides were a little disappointing. Sweet potato fries could have been hotter and the grilled corn was soggy, cooked too long perhaps. Needs to be hotter and fresher. 1/4 chicken and the two sides with a cider came to 14.60. I’d definitely come back, but I’d mention freshness was a problem last time.

Been a big fan of this place for quite a while now. I can only say the wings are perfect. Glad they still do collection during the lockdown but I hope they provided hand sanitisers for customers. Pictured is the Buffalo Wings Box with 6 wings and fries. Yum. The box was effectively wrapped in tinfoil so the wings were pipping hot.

It was just ok. There were good and bad things. First, the dine in wait time was very bad. Like most places, I think they prioritize the online pick up orders, so we sat there for half an hour after ordering, waiting for the food while watching groups come in and pick up their food. It looked like there was only one person cooking. My husband had the saucy burger. The buffalo sauce was spicy and really good. I got 2 kinds of chicken wings, garlic and ginger and jalapeno lime. Both were supposed to be spicy, but neither were. I thought maybe they brought the wrong wings because the garlic and ginger weren't spicy, and they didn't taste like garlic or ginger. They had a sticky sweet flavor that was ok but nothing like the description. The jalapeno lime ones had a nice flavor (no lime though), but they also weren't spicy. The fries were good. My son had the chicken strips, and they were the driest chicken strips I've ever tasted, absolutely terrible, especially for a chicken place. I would come here for buffalo wings and that grapefruit beer they had (served nice and cold) but nothing else.

The chicken buffalo wings and chicken. Strips that we ordered were cooked beautifully!! Amazingly tasty! I love the big portions and the staff are easily on hand to give take away boxes, they are proud of their big portions and I am all for it! They are strict with cleanliness, large separation between tables and the pathways between tables is big too, which is so reassuring. All the doors to and from the toilets (downstaires) are left open, so guests don't have to touch anything after they have washed their hands, the 1st place I have seen do this and I think other resturants should take note. Looking forward to coming back again, and ordering a dessert to take away for later. Thank you for being open.

Maybe the best chicken in town! Bold claim but you know instead of doing lots of different BBQ they do 1 thing right. The chicken is really good. The wings are even better. I love the buffalo wings with ranch sauce. Will change your outlook on life. They have a great selection of hot sauces you can buy to take home! Special ones that you would normally have to order. Great for gifts for your pepper loving loved one. They do a lunch time menu filled with great stuff. You can just call them and order and go to pick it up. It’s sometimes busy there so if you are in a rush, order. If not, Sunday. All you can eat wings for £10. Unreal offer. Highly recommended

The staff were extremely friendly! I ordered the buffalo wings with three different sauces. My favourite sauce was the hanebero lime sauce. The chicken wings were delicious but I feel that they were a little dry. I loved everything about the place anyway! Visited coop recently due to seeing it and looking at the good reviews. It was quiet when I went so can't complain with wait times etc. But what I found was everything was okay at best. The drinks came flat yet being £3 a soft drink, the rice came out cold yet nobody was in besides one other table who was already eating. I support it being a small business 100% but the quality just doesn't seem to be there which is a huge shame. I might just be indifferent from others but I couldn't enjoy scrawny wings with lots of coating which held a load of water/oil underneath them. Not awfully priced though so take it as you will.

I had a friend visiting from out of town and we didnt really want to go to the nearest pub to eat. Not really knowing what we wanted we wandered round places near to the central station and came across coop. The menu looked interesting and it was different to the run of the mill pub food so we decided to try it. It's only a little place but has a great atmosphere. The staff were super friendly and explained the menu to us in detail and answered all the questions we had. I loved the decor The food came and it was really good, we decided on the buffalo wings, sweet potato fries and coleslaw and grilled sweet corn. All I can say is how much food.... It was well cooked and really tasty, and we all really enjoyed what we had. Did I mention just how friendly the staff were? Our server was just so nice, and nothing was a problem. The excess food was packed up for us and I liked the little touch of a napkin, and fork put with the food and also that it was put in a bag for ease of carrying. I really can't fault our visit, from the welcome walking in to the goodbyes when we left If your looking for something quick and easy I would recommend giving them a try. They are not expensive and well you might enjoy your visit as much as we did.

The service can be a little slow, however, so I wouldn't recommend this place for a quick lunch - more somewhere to hang out for a relaxing meal with friends.

Not bad chicken, I think perhaps they style of service is just not for me (put all the chicken on the table). I do stress it's my opinion and other people may like it. Would give more than 5 if I could. Searching for a feast after dropping our bags at the hotel. Found this place and we thought we'd go for it. Staff, super friendly. Made time to talk to you. Great conversation. The scenery and vibe was laid-back and cool as F. All of that out of the way, onto the food. WOW doesn't quite cut it. Chicken burger was tender, bursting at the seams and had flavours from all angles. Wings were unreal, wife isn't too much of a spice fiend so asked if we could half and half with the chilli and house blend, no problems at all. Chips were tossed in a salt herb type of rub and they worked perfectly. Halloumi was absolutely perfect, coupled with a tangy salsa sauce. So tasty. If you want the most perfectly balanced fruity hot sauce going, you must try a shot of Habernero & Lime. What was left of it went straight on my burger and sent the flavour level through the roof. Then if you've still got room, try the thicc boi cookie dough. Massive butterscotchy doughy slab of cookie topped with 2 hench scoops of ice-cream. Definitely a 2 person job. Price is very reasonable aswell. 2 burgers with fries, 10 wings, side of halloumi and drinks. £45. You really can't go wrong. It's an absolute must. You'll be smashing that loyalty card for a free chicken in no time.

Best chicken in Newcastle, no exceptions. The buffalo wings are amazing and always have loads of meat on. I’d also recommend the banana habanero sauce, which I’d happily hook into my veins. The desserts are great too and you can take any remaining wings to go if you need to save room, or you can do the right thing, cowboy up, and eat it all.

Our order got a little muddled but no harm done, I really enjoyed the food here. YOU MUST LIKE CHICKEN OR FALAFEL. The atmosphere is welcoming, it's all about the joy of the food. We ordered the house wings and chilli wings, both of which were delicious, I ended up eating loads and not needing a dessert. The waiting staff seem friendly and willing to go out of their way to accommodate people.

Had day in Newcastle and spied this earlier in day. So decided to have our main meal of day here, before heading back to Alnwick. We went for 1/2 and 1/4 of chicken plus each dish came with a choice of X2 sides. So we selected x4 different ones and shared. Wow. Hot good size portions well presented and nicely cooked. Very filing too. Be sure to arrive before 1700 to receive the sides in with price. Recommended. Well done to the friendly polite staff.

Lovely unpretentious food. Chicken grilled over open heat so it's crispy and had a great flavor. I don't know the chicken's provenance but the meat has a good firm texture. The coleslaw is good as are the other sides. And as an added bonus it's inexpensive.

Had a falafel box from here last week and really enjoyed it. The boxes are well priced for a lunch time treat and the portions are good. I had mine with skin-on fries, coleslaw, and beans and everything was good. Word from those who got the chicken boxes was that they were nice too. Definitely somewhere to add to the lunchtime rotation. We called ahead with our order for collection and it was ready when they said it would be.

I had wanted to try this place for a long time, in short, the 3 stars is purely for their food. The chicken is damn good. But the sides are expensive and nothing that isn't achieved at nandos. Coop manage to be twice as expensive as the chicken counterpart except with lazy waiters who obviously think this is a boys club not a business Would have probably spent more money except they didn't give us the opportunity to by leaving us with empty plates for 25 minutes. I would have happily fed this information back to Coop, except nobody asked if we enjoyed our meal.

The 'Jerk Sauce' was the farthest thing from Jerk flavours i've ever tasted in my life. It tasted like vinegar which was insulting considering it's not difficult to replicate jerk flavours. Customer service needs work too, we didn't feel particularly welcome and there didn't seem to be a lot of brand knowledge or suggestions made even though it was obvious we'd never been before and weren't sure how it worked. The wings we got were amazing though, so yummy.

Tried the 'nuclear' Habenero Ketchup and have never felt so close to understanding the limits of my own mortality. First dip I felt pain, pain of the mouth and the tongue, a burning sensation only matched by the seemingly limitless core temperature of Nacho cheese. Tears and snot soon followed, thankfully Coop supplied tissues which became essential in this moment. A second taste was needed to see if it truly was that hot. Total loss of sensation of the tongue was immediate, the battle to be remain conscious took over. In the battle of fight or flight a sheer determination not seen since the trapped miners of Chile ensued. I couldn't be defeated, not like this. Copious dips of a 2x chilli rating sauce was needed, compared to Satan's sauce it felt like milk, coating my surely blistered tongue, bringing a sense of relief seldom felt outside of only the finest of Swedish spa treatments. Battling on, fighting through uncontrolled tears, the pain finally waned after 5 minutes. There was no third dip. Chicken wings wonderfully crispy, will definitely go back.

Was disappointed with this place. Imagine Nando’s with a lot juicer chicken but with less side options and sauce which you have to pay for. Although the chicken was really tasty, it wasn’t worth the 40 + minute wait. It may have been bad luck when I went, but they seemed to be dealing with a lot of deliveroo orders at the sacrifice of the restaurant customers.
