Reviews of Derwent Crossing Brewers Fayre
K. G.
We are staying at the nearby hotel for 6 nights as a family of four. We have eaten dinner here twice so far and plan to visit again, because the food and service is lovely. The menu has plenty of dishes and cocktails the I would still like to try and the staff are attentive and have made us feel welcome. The food has always arrived hot and cooked to a great standard. We took advantage of the meal deal that is offered when booking breakfast and dinner at the premiere inn. This gave us a 2 course meal and a drink for under £15 or a 3 course meal and drink for under £17, excellent value. On my first visit I ordered the loaded chicken wings and rump steak with chips, the on my second visit I ordered the sharing platter and rump with salad, I paid a bit more for the platter, but it was worth it. Everything was delicious. I will definitely come again.

Great food, great service, family friendly restaurant. We come here very often as my kids love everything about the place, from food to very friendly and helpful staffs, they're all great and credit to the place. Donna W is my little girl's favourite person with her smile and welcoming manner which makes our time here even better.

Came here at 4.30 on a Sunday for the carvery, only to be told they don't do them any more and haven't don't so for a while. A miserable young lad then showed us to our table, ( where they advertise The Sunday Carvery ) we ordered at the bar, when food arrived we asked for BBQ sauce ( the same lad who sat us down) yea I 'll just get some. It never arrived. Then ordered a dessert at the bar, also didn't arrive, chased it up, and it arrived, already the Ice cream was melted and thd chocolate sauce was at the bottom, it had obviously been stood in the kitchen...
Would I go again NO

An absolute delight, service was excellent, all of it given with a smile, we were lucky that it was not very busy as it was early afternoon, I had a burger which is the best burger I ever had, nothing fancy just a burger cooked to perfection. My wife had a chicken with bacon that was delicious too (as I had to grab a taste), we took advantage of 2 main meals for 8.99 which was a complete steal, we even order desserts and refillable fizzy drink and refillable coffee and we paid less the £20, looking forward to going back again.

Just want too say a massive thank you too all the staff at the brewers fayre next too the premier in Newcastle metro centre
Nothing was too much trouble .
The restaurant was extremely well run
They have a great team there who all go above and beyond too make you feel very welcolme .
The food was served quickly and fresh n hot .
The quality is excellent and extremely good value , especially if your a family with younger children .
There is a play area which should be opening soon .
The outside area is tbh was a bit tired but I spoke with the manager and she acknowledged this but said it is under review for refurbishment soon .

Haven't been to this branch before . It was fairly quiet no ques. Food nice and hot friendly staff and polite . Only thing that let it down was ladies toilet no toilet door on one of two toilets. They werent clean and toilet was flushing very good and door didn't lock I had to put sanitation bin in front of door. Other than that no complaints at all. Hopefully they will take on board and fix things

I ate breakfast on 2 consecutive days in December. The first day's continental breakfast was a process of self-service cereals, toast, pastries and fruit juices. The hot food order was taken at the table. The food arrived piping hot a seemingly freshly prepared. So we booked a table for breakfast the next day.
The second day was entirely buffet style. The hot food was no where near as hot, or as freshly prepared as the first experience. Had I have known my cooked breakfast was only going to just and so acceptably hot, I would have probably not booked the second day. Be aware... Weekday hot food is cooked to order. Weekend cooked food is buffet style.

Love this place. We go to Brewers Fayre quite often but the one at Derwent is fab . The staff are just amazing. They really made sure our food was good and arrived on time. One particular lady also gave my daughters some little gifts to take home.
G. G.
We have been coming here as a family group a number of times due to the quality of food and the reasonable prices in addition there is a small charge for the softplay which is used to provide a supervisor to keep the rowdy kids in order (I wish all restaurants did this!!).
On this occasion we had 2 adults and 3 children and we all decided to have the carvery which we all enjoyed. The meats (Turkey, Ham, Beef) were top quality and the server gave good proportions. Everything on the carvery buffet was cooked perfectly and was piping hot (our favourite is the cauliflour cheese!).
The Brewers Fayre beats the overpriced restaurants in the Metro Centre so why not drop in after your shopping trip.
R. F.
A good breakfast apart from cold beans. Generous, and good quality food. Service was good, apart from the surprised look we got when we said we'd not booked, despite the place being almost empty throughout our visit.
J. H.
Dropped in for the carvery on Sunday. There wasn't any beef left when we arrived between 1-2pm. The food was OK I suppose but I've certainly had better. The gravy was like water.
A. U.
Food was pretty nice, but love that there's a play area here for kids, put my 2 grandkids in the soft play they enjoyed that,we had food then grey went back into the play area again, great.
R.
On our first day the two ladies were very attentive, nothing was too much trouble, very polite. The food was hot, but on our second visit the three waiters were less attentive and the buffet breakfast was not hot, quite disappointing on the second visit
H. P.
We went on boxing day, meal was lovely as always, but a member off your staff (Sheena)did ask my friend if I was his mother,I said no an that I was 3 year younger than him, I did see the funny side, an just laughed about it, lol (so when I go back in I would like a free meal an drink please) lol x
M. S.
Food was nice, staff some were friendly, We had to ask for our table to be cleared and our deserts to be brought out.
K. M.
From My Sister Debra Sweeting the grandmother of Farah.
Had an awesome day celebrating Farahs 1st Birthday in the UK and can not thank you enough for making her day extra special spent with her family and to the lovely quests who also helped make Farah feel so very special too xxx
F. F.
Sunday evening was a bit quiet, although we ate late Breakfast good, a super fried egg😀
L. W. W.
Gammon steak, egg and chips was very nice. Decent price as well, came in a reasonable time scale also. Nice pint of Stella. I think they must have changed the chips as they were really good. Customers the usual mix of families, couples and contractors. Good if you've got young children as there is a soft play area. Loads of parking, cheap, cheerful and nicely cooked food. I hope it's this good next time I go.
J. E. M.
Delightful pub, with good food, and excellent service. Welcoming and friendly staff members. Ticks all the boxes
K. D.
Really good roast dinner in replacement of carvery, thoroughly enjoyed plus dessert... even went back for breakfast next day
K. K.
The play area was closed, which wasn't mentioned on the website and that we were kinda relying on to burn off some energy from two kids on a long journey. So that was a big disappointment.
The steaks were really good. But we ordered a side of broccoli that was seriously wilted and sad. And the kids chocolate milk wasn't nice at all.
The staff were very friendly and kind though
N. H.
Had a fab lunch here whilst travelling the UK.
Funny and friendly staff, great food and Costa Coffee - what’s not to like?
A. C.
Food was ok pretty standard for a chain restaurant but there’s a kids soft play here so you can get rid of the little terrors for a while.
Large car park and spacious inside too.
D. L.
Visited Friday lunchtime July 19th. Varied menu with all the usual meals. A number of deals available ; kids eat free early afternoons, 2 mains for £8.99 etc. Service was good. Plenty of comfortable seating and spacious. We had haddock and chips , and gammon steak with egg/ pineapple. Fish had a 99p size upgrade. A decent meal. Would definitely go again.
A. A.
Staff are amazing so friendly and go out their way to help you. Food is also really good especially breakfast.
C. Y.
The food is reasonably priced, with a two meals for £9 offer if you eat before 6pm, Monday to Friday. The food can be hit and miss with quality, but for the price it's great. I would recommend the fish and chips, excellent portion size and very tasty. The staff are very friendly and the place is clean.
D. H.
Used special offer of buy one get one free so worked out very reasonable. Food was fine if nothing spectacular. All hot and freshly prepared. Service was very good and staff were very attentive and friendly. Will return.
I. C.
Nice and affordable place 👌 lovely food! …
S. D.
Great for the kids and food is standard for Brewers Fayre, bar service was rather slow but this was down to lack of staff rather than the staff themselves.
N. Q.
I didn't even know this soft play was here! Its slightly separate from the restaurant itself so you dont need to eat there to use it, but still has tables to just incase you do! A fair price for the size and has a disco room so they can have a dance too!
B. H.
Went for the carvery. That's about all.
Not sure what cut the beef was, but it wasn't beautiful and tender. It was tough and chewy. Worst part of the meal.
The rest was ok. What you expect of a carvery place.
If you are in the area and considering a carvery goto the Toby a couple of minutes away
S. G.
Lovely Ambiance. Nice food and great staff. Would definitely recommend. Their buy one get one free vouchers is a generous offer as well.
D. M.
Food excellent staff very frendly soft play not open 6 grandkids not happy but lovely place.
D. K.
Quick service. Lovely food and drinks. Thank you
J. F.
Lovely meals here and staff have been amazing every time we come here , always friendly and helpful .
Nice place for a catch-up
S. B.
We ate here before checking in at the adjoining Premier Inn and then again for breakfast. Easily the best Brewer's Fayre we've visited. Immaculate, staff are fantastic and the food was delicious.
A.
The staff were helpful and the food was great.
T. S.
Our family enjoy visiting this restaurant on a regular basis. Food is always delicious. Drinks always refreshing. The place is always clean. The place is almost always welcoming with happy friendly faces. All bar one of the managers whoseems to have a problem with the world being against him however I will not mark the rest of the team down for that. If you do visit for the first time when that particular manager is on shift, do try again when the other team members are on shift, will make a completely different experience. Christmas in particular is a lovely time to visit. The children are well entertained by Robbie and Dwayne in particular with Breakfast with Santa events and Parties. You can see how much effort from the team goes into creating a good party for children.
G. F.
Easy relaxed dining experience had to wait a little for some items on the buffet that had ran out and more needed to be cooked but at least you could guarantee it was fresh and hot
s. s.
Staff were fantastic and the food was alright, I had a burger which I found to be a little bit dry however the person with me got the chip shop platter which looked and tasted amazing. Okay kids menu was fine, not too much stuff on which when you've got indecisive kids is good. Soft play also however this is £3 per child
D. L.
A massive thank you and well done to all the staff at the restaurant we stayed for two nights and both the evening meal and the breakfast could not be any better.
Service was fast, food was plentiful and service were very friendly and helpful.
C. A.
Came to see santa and have a breakfast. Food was lovely the kids had a run around the soft play and loved seeing santa. We did not feel rushed with santa would definitely come back next year!all staff were happy and helpful aswell
S. S.
My mam and l had fish chips and peas and tartar sauce . 2 for £8.99 as before 6pm .so great value for money. We both upgraded to haddock for an extra £1.49 ..was very nice . We had coffee to drink which was refillable . Staff were very attentive making sure we were happy with our food and cleared our finished plates away promptly . Offered dessert which we had already ordered .if before 6pm they offer a limited selection of desserts for only £2.49 . They were served when we said we were ready . Brewers Fayre Derwent crossing staff all very polite and friendly . See yous again soon
A. S.
Good menu, reasonably priced and service acceptable.
Have eaten in a good number of these as stay in Premier Inns with young family regularly. This is definitely one of the better ones. It also has a soft play attached which is perfect for younger kids.
The food was nice and the free refills on soft drinks was good, although I must have drunk my own weight in flavoured diet coke as a result!
Would definitely recommend this.
R. K.
Excellent. Food great. Staff - very helpful and friendly. Certainly go the extra mile. Our waiter gave us a lift back to our hotel as it was raining so heavily.
A. D.
Nice spacious place to eat in a relaxed atmosphere.
Food is fine - Not amazing but generally consistently pretty good.
The staff are all good.Quite a few of them have been there a while and they are all polite.
The soft play allows you to offload the kids and enjoy an adult conversation!!
Overall well worth a visit.
A. F.
Arrived just before lunch without booking and they still managed to squeeze us in (4 people). The meal was fantastic and our server a very funny and chatty man called Ian who made us feel welcome and important an asset to your team. Can't wait to go back.
S. B.
Love this restaurant. Food is lovely and fresh.been coming here for a while all the staff are amazing and couldnt do enough to help you thank you brewers
. Also the sunday roasts are fabulous much better than before
k. w.
Had breakfast on Sunday 6th February. Greeted by a friendly chap from Yorkshire, good sense of humour, great customer care, decent breakfast
P. F.
Excellent all you can eat breakfast
M. L.
I had a mixed grill and it was cooked to perfection. Nice atmosphere and lovely staff, I would highly recommend this place!
C. B.
We've been a number of times since reopening after lockdown - three times during Eat Out to Help Out and twice during lunchtime, taking advantage of the 2 for £8.99 meals.
Overall, a generally good experience, with good portion sizes (also added the starter and dessert for an extra £1.99) as well as refillable soft drinks.
During Eat Out to Help, it was always seemed busy and the atmosphere quite lively with the situation being managed well, similar to how it was previously before the pandemic. The social distancing and Covid aware procedures are good, but in the last few weeks this has moved to a table only service meaning you can't refill your own drinks.
This seems to have put a strain on the staff (although there we only four tables seated) I only seen the manager and another server working, meaning a 5-10 minute wait for the drinks to be refilled.
Although excellent value during lunch and early evening - like every pub/restaurant Covid has it hard and this can be felt completely in the atmosphere due to the lack of customers.
The team always work hard and service is always excellent and it's a shame to see how hard the industry has been hit.
L. T.
Just called in. Nice and quiet and no loud music blasting out. Very pleasant and helpful staff and lovely meal. Would go back.
R. C.
I go here every Saturday morning for my breakfast with the Army Veterans & the food is bloody lovely
C. H.
The staff request £3.99 for older than 3 years old use that soft play area. However, £1 eat meal for kids for older than 3 years old as well, please aware. Hope the staff not talking non-sense .. Happy Xmas !!!
A. R.
Staff very nice but its not help yourself and they ran out of blackpudding and sausage saying its not worth cooking it cause I think they had to start for meals but go on a Saturday and its help yourself
E. A.
Food was absolutely beautiful and the staff were amazing. Brilliant and friendly service!!
C. B.
Friendly, helpful staff with a small indoor playbarn. No outdoor play equipment which was disappointing. We had a carvery which was just OK. It was a good place for family to meet up for a short time but not amazing. Not very busy on a Sunday afternoon
A. H.
First time visit. First impressions of a clean well presented establishment inside & out. Tables were clean and ready for use. Culery & napkins. Very good menu plenty of choice and good prices. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Would certainly return and recommend.
M. F.
OK food. The older short woman in the soft play area was a horrible membet of staff she ruined our time there and the poor younger blonde was having to apologise for her constantly. Such as shame as all other staff were lovely and food was good. Not what I expected for my kids though! So disappointed.
M. C.
Good quality food friendly staff accommodated my needs no bother good atmosphere
J. S.
Really nice food god service and there's a play area for the kids, you have to pay a bit extra for it though but worth it
M. H.
Nice enough food but next to no selection on the menu. Was feeling like keeping it simple with a burger but all of them had strange elements to them one even had marmite on it. The restaurant its self can't fault if you are looking for a family place. Has a play area for kids and don't feel frowned upon if your little one has a tantrum.
G. G.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely meal. It's just a shame that some parents feel it's OK to let their kids constantly run through the restaurant where there is hot food and drinks being served with no thought to other people. We are not their child minders.
C. B.
Lovely restaurant, nice and quiet. Friendly staff and added bonus of soft play for the kids although there is a cost for entry into the softplay.
M. T.
Good place, menu is packed full with various delicious delights, good bar with a large variety to choose from. Play area is decent size and my little one loves playing there and we will eat in so we can watch her playing.
V. M.
Food was very good value for money. Staff polite courteous and attentive but a big plus is the children's separate supervised play area. Very happy with visit.
S. F.
Went on a school trip, the staff were magic
D. R.
Fair portion sizes for the price, food arrived quickly. Staff were a bit hit-and-miss but our visit was during a quiet period so not a true reflection on them.
P. H.
Lovely meal staff friendly everything correct for COVID spacing.
We eat here regularly always good.
M. H.
This big burger fill a big hole. Packed a big taste too and enjoyed it very much. I would go back and choose again.
J. J.
Food below expectations. Beef fatty and gristly. Veg poor carrot and swede mash so runny looked like baby food. Been through week for main menu and no complaints but was so disappointed with quality of sunday lunch.
A. B.
Food was lovely and very well priced. We stayed in the premier inn next door, breakfast lovely and staff very helpful and friendly.
Evening staff however, not so happy and friendly.
G. P.
Have been there a lot of times but this is the first time we have been disappointed
G. D.
Brilliant staff very accommodating friendly kids soft play is lovely and the staff in there are fantastic!! Food is nice always hot when served... just wish they'd bring back the nachos 😊 …
R. L.
Very good Christmas lunch served by the hard pushed staff due to members off work with Covid. Thank you and well done.
N. D.
Very pleasant atmosphere, spacious, food good for the money paid especially better value if you have vouchers from the loyalty scheme. Excellent service & level of politeness & attentive from a gentleman member of staff called Chris 👍 …
G. Y.
The staff are fantastic and it has a lovely play area for the kids. Good range in their menu and we have never had a bad meal
A. “. R.
Love coming here for all you can eat breakfast. £19 for two adults and two kids.. With Costa coffee too! Lovely place and more than reasonable prices
M. M.
Usually not a fan of brewers fayre but this one has recently been done up and the food was always nice for the week I stayed. Only let down was they couldn't seem to keep up with the busy spells with often queues of people waiting to order food.
D. E.
Pretty much as expected for a pub chain, food was okay. Didn't expect to have to pay for the soft play, £3 per kid, seems a bit stingy charging in a family place.
D. C.
Very nice breakfast. Friendly staff. Decent price. Can't go wrong.
D. L.
I had Sunday carvery, 2x kids meals, burger and all were enjoyed, I am normally a bit reticent about all you can eat carvery, however it was delicious, thank you to, Nicosia, sheena you were both very helpful 😋. Dx …
S. G.
Came here for meals 25th, 26th, 27th July. Clean and tidy restaurant and the staff were pleasant and helpful. We didn't have to wait long for our meals and everything was cooked well and, tasty.
J. M.
Great space and soft play for the kids. Carvery was excellent also.
k. L.
Lovely staff. Good range of drinks. Quite spacious, you don't feel like your sitting on top of other diners.
t. r.
Food delicious, friendly staff, comfortable surroundings 5*.
R. S.
Good location. Great for kids and the lady behind the counter in the kids area was amazing. Really friendly and great with kids. Deserves a special mention. Great choice of food and great for families.
A. N.
Staff are fab, food is good and the pub is spotless, great for kids and plenty parking x
D. T.
Play area is really good. Service tends to be friendly. Food is what you'd expect for the price. Refills on drinks a plus. Coffee is a bit pants (self service machine).
E. B.
Pretty basic food all round - we had a group of 8 and not a single dish was particularly good. Fairly quick service, and at a reasonable price point. Mediocre.
J. M.
Used 2 for one offer flyer that came in post on various burgers excellant and menu had great offers on other meals too. Will definately go again.
I. M.
Was very quite when I turned up. So first thoughts why ? Bad food / service. But no service was good and staff friendly and food nice. Just one of them days as I asked staff
D. H.
Cheap menu, comfortable seating and free refills on soda. Also has a soft play area for young children. Ample free parking.
J. E.
Cold atmosphere, cold food, here on business. Air con on full blast... no one checked food was ok. No one asked if wanted anything else..... definitely dodge this place on my next three visits....
J. C.
Staff were bright and pleasant interaction, very helpfull, due to having a nut allergy the staff were attentive
S. B.
First time visiting food was very good and at a good price, the restaurant was very clean and welcoming but for me the staff were fantastic its not very often you get that level of service without paying for it.and a special mention for the cook what a top class bloke .very well done brewers fayre somewhere I will definitely visit again and highly recommend.
J. O.
We have just returned from a childs birthday party. Could not fault the place. Staff and food were brilliant.
T. C.
Nice enough but had to pay twice for kids soft play, as they wouldn't allow them an extra ten minutes play despite us all buying meals, drinks etc
K. S.
Nice friendly staff good play area for children meals are nice and tasty and reasonably priced I would recommend people to go and try the meals I don't think they would be disappointed
C. P.
Food is great, go here regularly as I receive buy one get free on meals vouchers all the time, reasonably priced.
J. L.

One of the best Brewers Fayre's I've been in. The staff were nice and friendly. Try the cottage pie - it's lovely.

Menu a bit cafe with frozen product's good service never to full so you can always get served plenty of parking

Not the place to go for a romantic meal with your partner, but if you have small kids you'll find the prices reasonable and it has something to keep the kids entertained
G. S.
Great service, very good... But DO NOT try to walk there from the Holiday Inn!!!!! No path!!!!
P. F.
They've done it out really nice ☺️. But it's really expensive in comparison to the way we remember it.
