One of my favourite brunch spots in Newcastle. Recently found out they’re dog friendly inside and out so can’t wait to take our dog with us next time. Prices are a little steep but I think it’s worth it

Friendly staff and I was surprised to get a table so quickly on Saturday at lunch time. Loved the Tynemouth coffee and fresh orange juice (would’ve preferred the OJ without ice) but it was freshly squeezed which was the main thing. Tasty! However, I was a bit disappointed with the Huevos rancheros hash bowl. The egg, avocado and chorizo were lovely but overall it was oily and there were too many flavours going on for me. Giving it the benefit of the doubt, it could’ve just been that day and I’ll be back to give Ernest’s another go and try other things on the menu!

Visited twice in one day, the first time my partner and 3 year old while I was having my wedding makeup trial done and again for dinner, once I was done. The food was phenomenal and extremely reasonably priced considering what they have on offer and the quality of it. The experience was made so much better by the staff though for sure. There was a lady on shift yesterday who couldn't have done enough for us her name was Stella, her and our daughter have made friends for life, nothing was too much, she kept her entertained, involved her in little jobs. I'm sure all parents know that small children get bored quickly and when service industry staff put that amount of effort into making the whole thing so pleasant it really does make a huge difference. Thank you Ernest Cafe for being so very accommodating and for the best food we've had in a very long time!!!

Amazing day on Saturday for my best friends Hen. She hired the room and it was beautiful classy and just enough to start our celebrations. The lady who was looking after us was super friendly and couldn’t do enough the other staff were equally as nice. Booked here for brunch on a Sunday, 2 adults and one dog. The staff were very accommodating, the table we were meant to have was next to another dog who unfortunately was dog reactive and very woofy at our dog; the staff were very lovely about this and seated us elsewhere with no fuss. I arrived late, with a toddler that insisted on running around the whole place and was obsessed with the staff. Everyone was AMAZING with him and us. It was busy and we definitely were in the way and the service was just impeccable. The food was a+ so would have gotten 5* regardless but the kind staff really made it great.

The food was quite good, and decent portion sizes; not a lot of variety of desserts but the savory food makes up for that in a way, and there’s drinks you could have instead. Also, a bit of a warning, the spicy cauliflower wings are extremely hot, despite having a yogurt and herbs sauce to help cool them down. Visited for brunch on a pretty busy Saturday monring with a group of 6, ordered brunch and a few drinks. Only criticism would be the food took a while to come, but the girls who served us were dead friendly, food was lovely when it came, and even when it started pouring down with rain the team dealt with it well and brought a few brollies out. What a lovely place. Food, drinks and service were excellent. Called in with my son this morning just after the 10am opening time and already there were a few tables occupied. Greeted warmly and our order taken in a timely manner. I just had two slices of toast with butter and jam, my son had Eggs Ernesto. It looked absolutely fantastic and I was told it tasted as good as it looked on the plate. Eggs perfectly cooked, with soft ham hock in the middle sitting on a lightly toasted, soft muffin. I'll be ordering that on our next visit!!

Haven't been for food in a while but came for an early tea with toddler in tow. Super tasty and gf options - particularly loved the sweet potato dumplings with muhammara and candied walnuts! Discovered this place by mistake to be honest and it was a good thing because I absolutely loved it. I got my days mixed up and was supposed to attend a function called Soup on Thursday 17th not Thursday 10th. Anyhow since I was here I thought I'd sample the food and drink and I'm not disappointed at all. Absolutely delicious. The place has plenty of space, is not noisy and has a warm cosy atmosphere. Staff are courteous and efficient. All makes up for a great experience. Keep up the good work.

I love a breakfast from 'ere me! I love a breakfast from Ernest, I find it one of those places that make you feel welcome and cook good, honest, fresh food and do it well. I will get round to going for a lunch one of these days, but if you want a brekky and lick your plate clean, this is the place for you.

Great new additional outdoor seating, which on my last visit (April 24th) was filled with sunshine for the majority of the day. There was a bit of a queue, but the staff were very informative and kept everything flowing well throughout the day. Wow, after leaving the Ernest Cafe Bar I realised my entire life had been changed. Little did I know when i jokingly ordered their cucumber and basil soda, or as they called it their 'Yoda Soda', that I was sending myself downna path to true enlightenment. The Yoda Soda is by far the greatest thing to have ever been produced by human hands, it is the closest we can hope to expereincing the sensations of an omniscient God. I do not care for that God though, as I only worship Yoda Soda.

Absolutely fabulous experience! The poached eggs came perfectly cooked, and also super fast. Guac was fresh and delicious, bacon crispy - and oh my the coffee. 12/10 going to come back. Very nice hipster-ish and friendly place that does great brunch options. Usually pretty busy so it's worth booking a table. Also serves good coffee and a nice selection of alcoholic tipples. The place is generally wheelchair accessible with the exception of the toilets that are too small. Seating inside for around 50 to 60. Some parking available on the street outside but it's only totally unrestricted at weekends.

This is a really nice place that is a good mixture of bar, tapas and cafe. We were looking for a quick bite before a concert at the Cluny. Nice-alcoholic drinks blend well with traditional pub drinks, but you can just as easily get tea or proper coffee. The food is not cheap but really good value. £22 for three small plates and a large flat bread. We had vegan, vegetarian and meat dishes - all were well cooked, well presented and delicious. Nice atmosphere, table service, breakfast and lunch menus looked interesting too. Can't fault hence 5 stars.

Visited the restaurant on a recommendation from a friend, on where to get a late breakfast. It's situated just outside the centre of Newcastle in Ouseburn, but far enough away that there's room to get parked right outside the restaurant. Once inside, there's a great atmosphere with guests of all ages. There was a short wait for a table (less than five minutes), which was really fantastic considering we arrived at 1pm on a Saturday! The restaurant has so many different options available, and is perfect for vegetarians/vegans. We ordered two full breakfasts, and these arrived extremely quickly (around 5 minutes after we ordered). The staff were extremely polite and great at recommending food from the menu. We were spoiled for choice - countless food and drinks offers line the walls, I can't wait to come back and try more.

Our WiFi was down today and Ernest coffee was our saviour! Me and my fiancee were conference calling different people at the same time from the WiFi outside the cafe and it held up well. The food was delicious also and the staff really friendly. Good measures and protocols in place for COVID, felt very safe, definitely the best of the cafes I've visited since the outbreak for safety (and nosh)

The food at Ernest is AMAZING! They do a good cup of coffee (or glass of wine) and the staff are lovely. The ideal place for post-work drinks and a catch up. If you're heading there for lunch, you can ring up and pre-order your food/reserve a table, which is really handy and leaves more time for eating and chatting.

This a quirky place with a good selection of drinks and lovely food. It attracts a young hip crowd but is very friendly and open armed to all ages. The soup club is a nifty idea if you like a nice hot meal, good company and a movie. It's not a posh place by any means but the general vibe is warm and friendly and at busy events they have a bouncer on the door. It's right in the heart of Ouseburn so it's spitting distance from all the other places that make this one of Newcastle finest areas to go out on the raz.

Ernest is a wonderful and quirky cafe in the trendy Ouseburn area of Newcastle. It changes from a cafe to a restaurant and bar and then almost a night club as the day progresses with different crowds frequenting it at different times of day. What doesn't change are the wonderful staff, great food and fantastic atmosphere - it's well worth a visit!

Ernest is a gem of a place. During the day it's great for coffee and food, (the breakfast and the flat breads both really tasty). They have free and high speed WiFi so I'm often there doing emails. It's a friendly relaxed atmosphere. At night there are often djs and events and the atmosphere changes into cool bar meets mini club. They have pilsner urquell on draft, and do it in the proper tankard, which pleases me.
