Trendy and popular brunch place. The interior design is nice and cosy. Loved their coffee, food (French toast & Muckle breakfast) was okay. There were many customers but only one waitress the day we went so service was quite slow.

What an amazing hidden gem! If you think "brunch" think no further than Horticulture. You will not be disappointed. This little restaurant was on my list of places to eat at and i finally got the chance a couple of weeks ago. Its always best to make a reservation as you may find the place empty when you walk in but it can fill up in a matter of minutes! We ordered the Schloumi, Shakshuka and the chorizo eggs. OMG!! We were left with wanting more...if only the tummy could stretch to infinity!! The Schlumi was loaded with goodness, avocado, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, poached eggs and halloumi. My husband said he never tasted a shakshula so good.. We visited with the kids again during Easter and they were not disappointed too!! Very friendly staff and they were able to cater a smaller portion for my 4 year old as well Def a must try..and let me know how you liked it!!

Best breakfast we've ever had! We were so happy to find this little cafe on our trip to Newcastle. The portions were HUGE! Great value for money. Chorizo Hash at the top of the photo, then Shakshuka with Chorizo at the bottom. Though the staff were clearly very busy, they didn't fail to make sure we were okay and that we enjoyed all our food. Would absolutely come here again!

Awesome brunch, very attentive service and a really pleasant vibe too. Only thing I would change was that our coffees were not hot, but they were delicious. Was looking somewhere for a pre theatre matinee performance - this place fitted the bill location wise. So glad I chose here - my ladies loved it! Very polite and personable staff, good decor - we moved from our original table reservation to a plush 'booth' which fitted in more with our Ladies Treat Out day 😀 Cocktails and brunch were thoroughly enjoyed. One comment - a bit more description in some of the dishes or ask to check: I had Shashkuka which I love; however whenever have eaten it in Turkey & Budapest it is made with tomatoes and peppers, this version was made with pulses which are not my favourite at all. Still delicious although not many of the beans eaten. We would return though, might try post theatre and the dinner menu next time.

Second time visiting for food, third generally on Monday gone. Service upon entry was efficient and warming. The dishes we had were sublime. The chef's hit the spot again. First visit to Horticulture and the food was amazing!! My boyfriend was extremely impressed with the lamb dish! Service was outstanding, lovely to see so many smiley faces (under masks of course) and a calm and upbeat atmosphere in such stressful times. I can't wait to return to what is now a new favourite of mine in town! Must add that the venue felt very covid safe and it is great to see hospitality venues which are abiding by all rules and creating a safe and comfortable environment.

I've been a few times to Horticulture now and the food's always really good. However the service is consistently quite poor e.g. charging for doubles when we ordered singles, forgetting drinks orders, being a bit snappy when asking about allergies/intolerances, taking 20+ minutes to bring drinks.

An all round perfect experience! The atmosphere, modern Interior, and really friendly staff means we will definitely be coming back! I really love this place. I sat at the chefs table - a counter that looks into the small, busy kitchen - as a birthday treat with my wife. We ordered 6 plates between us and got a procession of fantastic food accompanied by knowledgeable, passionate chat from chef Peter. There is a man who loves food and cooking! Went for food in late November 2019, and it was delicious. I would say it's a little pricey; we took their recommendations and went for 3 plates each, no drinks and it cost £45 (tip is automatically added) The food is absolutely lovely. We got the lamb and prawns, which were phenomenal. The goulash is also worth an order. So definitely go, but know it's more expensive than your usual place in Newcastle!

An absolute hidden gem in the toon. So welcoming at reception, leading upstairs t the beautifully decorated restaurant which is very tasteful and cosy. An open kitchen with a well presented menu offering various sharing platters, which were superb. The cocktail menu is extensive and perfectly made. The upstairs offers a cocktail bar for afters. The cocktails were also pretty incredible but I think the food won the show by an inch. The staff were very attentive and super friendly, in particular our waitress Charlotte. Fabulous. Gorgeous cocktails, fab tunes, beautiful food. Yes it may take a little bit of time to get your drinks but there is only so quickly the bar staff can go! Hands down the BEST Breakfast we have had in a very long time. A warm friendly welcome on arrival and wonderful atmosphere, very attentive staff and wow the....amazing Muckle Breakfast. Fresh and delicious. We sat outside on the terrace and heaters if we feel a little cold. The attention to detail is amazing. We recommend you book to avoid disappointment as it gets very busy. When came in we thought this looked a nice place. After then being told they couldn't get us in until are slot (booked for 12.30pm turned up 11.30am) sat and watched 4 tables free for the whole hour of waiting. Dead as a doorpost!!! After then having to go an ask we were then seated. Unfortunately we got a waitress (tall with bob haircut) that couldn't care less about her job and the attitude of someone who hated life and her job!!! Needs a review on her 1 to 1 i think. Food decent but service was really poor.

I recently spent a weekend in Newcastle and found this amazing gem tucked away from the boring touristy places. The terrace is an amazing place to share with friends. The cocktails are all to be sampled, each one crafted with the mixers own twist, which I loved! It shows the management has a good confidence in their mixers and their training to add their own twist so each one is not prescriptive. Amazing. This needs to happen more! The whiskey sour and some kind of amazing banana one that tastes like heaven are recommended. The second night I returned to enjoy the food. They did not disappoint. Ever more delicious food kept on coming throughout the evening when ready. Keeping the flow of conversation and dining going until we had had our fill. Beautiful food, drink and atmosphere what more could you want?! And absolute must!

This is a fairly recent place in Newcastle upon Tyne. Dogs can go in the first floor bar area. Staff were friendly and accommodating; they provided us with a water bowl, and had a jar of treats on arrival. Would definitely recommend 👍🏻

This is a trendy little caff which welcomes dogs and hipsters alike. For brunch there was only 1 gluten free option called "sweet potato hash" which was chunks of vegetables. The tea options were also quite unconventional - no black or Earl Grey - which will please the more open-minded brunching types. The HappyCake however were amazing and fluffy, the terrace was a nice leafy spot to sit in as well.

First came to Horticulture during the Eat Out to Help Out scheme for an evening meal and have since been back twice for lunch. On every occasion the food and drinks have been excellent (the dishes on the evening menu in particular - every dish we tried was cooked beautifully and full of flavour. The cauliflower dish was a real standout!) It can sometimes take a while for drinks to arrive, but apart from that the service is great (all the staff are very welcoming). I want to commend them too on their covid measures - I've felt very safe on every visit. Tables are well spaced out, the majority of staff wear face coverings and the venue has always been immaculately clean in my experience.

Lovely little bar just hidden off the road, nice wine selection if not a little limited for individual glasses. Offers a small selection of classic cocktails and a larger selection of house cocktails, both of which are fantastic. Prices are reasonable and the venue, combined with the staff, make it well worth the visit. Outdoor seating is available for smokers, and a couple of floors are available inside on busier days. Atmosphere is calm and enjoyable and the music selection is harmless and enjoyable.

Was recommended this place for drinks from the team at peace & loaf, although took us a long time to find, it was worth it, we were seated by a charming Irish gentleman who's customer service skills were exceptional, he clearly shared the same passion for the industry as we did. Lovely place with an extensive drinks menu. However had trouble finding menu, none at the bar and none on nearby tables do bar man just shrugged! Looked for menu online in the end as we'd deliberately gone for espresso martini menu. But chaotic behind the bar with lots of young barman and drinks took quite a while to prepare but it was worth it! I got a praline espresso martini and it was really good. Lovely atmosphere and nicely decorated and set out would definitely go again. Just get more menus out there and at least have a couple available at the bar.

Overall it's okay. Food was really lovely and vegan and tasty but expensive and not great if you're going in a group. We had the hummus, sweet potato curry, bean goulash, chips and tempura vegetables. The hummus was delicious but we had to ask for more bread, the sweet potato curry was good and the sauce was nice and thick. The bean goulash was extremely flavoursome and the bread that accompanied it was fresh. Chips were really good thick, chunky chips and the tempura vegetables were nice but the siracha mayo was a little bland. It's not really a group activity due to the food process. Some of our group had finished all their plates before others had any come out so that was disappointing. We understand it's tapas but didn't expect to wait so long for everything to arrive.

Unreal new addition to the city. The new concept on sustainable food that actually tastes incredible is mind blowing. Couldn't actually believe how good the food was. I found this emerging Bar/Restaurant not long after it opened and I've been back many times since. The impressive selection of drinks and cocktails they have to offer go hand and hand with the pleasant atmosphere that Holticulture provides. A personal highlight for me is there outdoor terrace which is accommodated by there in house dj's not to mention there imposing interior which speaks for itself. Great drinks. impressive food menu. Unique setting I highly recommend :)

Really nice space with great vibes and cute interior. The food was also great! However, when it comes to the menu, I only got the 'fresh' orange juice because my friend said it was actually fresh and squeezed. We saw the guy pour all our orange juices from a carton and was very disappointed. Shouldn't write 'fresh' on the menu if it's not actually going to be fresh. My friend who'd tried the actual fresh juice last time she came was confused as there was the squeezing machine in front of the bar but not in use. Also, there was some sort of zero carbon charge added to the bill which was for a good cause but should be explained beforehand or stated somewhere in the restaurant. It was also freezing cold. Please turn the heating up!

A good bar/restaurant but the three floors don't integrate at all. Nice beats in the bar with a DJ, although the seating arrangement made everyone seem separated and clique. The restaurant above has great food and vegetarian options. The cauliflower steak needs attention - it was boiled first which made it stodgy. The scene in the restaurant is kind of odd with a disco ball which was weird while eating. There was also a conflict of separate music from each floor which combine in the restaurant and make it kind of stressful while eating. I'd say this place could be exceptional but it needs attention on integrating the floors together and changing the ambience of the restaurant.
