Reviews of House of Tides
A. C.
Food and service second to none. Travelled mainly to try this place and well worth the drive. The tasting menu was well thought out and decently priced compared to other Michelin stars we have tried. Laid back atmosphere and not pretentious. Would definitely recommend
G. F.
Absolutely AMAZING! The Scallops and venison were our favourites, really lovely service and excellent wine pairings. What a fantastic dining experience!

Fantastic, Michelin-starred restaurant. Had a wonderful meal and also enjoyed the wine flight. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. A true dining experience. Loved the beginning where they show you to the bar so you can have an aperitif and review the menu. A nice touch.

This was our first visit to House of Tides. As we're not accustomed to such upmarket restaurants, despite our excitement we were little apprehensive that we would feel slightly out of place.
We needn't have worried. Our server was incredibly polite and friendly. She immediately put us at ease before showing us to our table in the bar area.
Here we were given the menu for the evening and had time to deliberate over which drinks to choose from the superb selection. My choice was a delicious Belgian sour beer while my partner chose a Berry cocktail whose smell conjured childhood memories of picking blackberries from hedgerows down country lanes.
Shortly after, our server provided some solid advice on our wine selection before the first course of the evening, Tomato and Cumin Gougere, was delivered.
Following our first course we were shown to our table in the dining room for the rest of the evenings delights. While I would love to give detailed descriptions of what followed, my vocabulary simply will not do it justice. Having said that, I would like to give a shout out to the Dashi Meringue, cucumber and dill. This little mouthful of flavour was my favourite of the night. If perfection could be sold in food form, for me, this is it.
Aside from the food, it is certainly worth noting in that the service is second to none. Our server was attentive and polite. We nearly noticed any servers at all unless they were delivering food or wine. On the subject of food and wine service, we couldn't help but notice the synchronisation of service on some of the larger tables. This attention to detail is what sets restaurants like this apart from others. Amazing.
All in all, easily the best all round restaurant experience of my life. I couldn't recommend more highly.

Very tasty, delicate dishes on the taster menu. Service very efficient and friendly

#food The first course served at the table came in three parts, all put in the centre (three of each). The first I tried was a small ice-cream cone containing liver parfait and sultanas, with a lovely mild curry flavour; the second a tiny macaron, described on the menu as, Carrot meringue, carrot curd, fennel pollen; the third a fresh oyster from the Holy Island of Lindisfarne with cucumber, ginger and ‘caviar’. All were lovely and exceptionally fresh tasting but I discovered for myself, that the order in which you eat them is important. I really wish I’d started with the oyster (the mildest of the three elements), then the parfait, finishing with the macaron.
Mackerel is a simple yet lovely fish, especially when served with something a little sour to cut through the oiliness of the fish itself. In this case the menu promised, Mackerel, artichoke, blackberry. Ok, so a tart blackberry should be a good foil to the oily mackerel but I was half way through before I realised there was nothing resembling a blackberry on my plate. Adam, who hadn’t served this course to us, explained that there had been a menu substitution consequently we had mackerel, apple and pickled radish before us. The pickled radish might’ve offered that sourness I was looking for but sadly, in reality, it didn’t. The tiny pieces of fish though were very yummy.
A little bit here about the service. I can’t abide an overly obsequious waiting style. It makes me feel guilty about the fact that someone is waiting on me. It’s opposite vice, indifference to the needs or wants of the diner, is equally abhorrent. The staff at House of Tides get it right in my view. They are attentive (wine glass always unobtrusively topped up), interested to know how we found the food and (apparently) keen to receive constructive criticism. ‘Our’ Adam in particular was invisible until we needed him, then unfailingly polite and scrupulously professional. He deserves to go far in his career.
Back to the food! Next up was the first of two meat courses; in this case, Venison tartare, beetroot, blueberries and kale. It was a suitably tiny portion, presented in a ‘pile’ on a dark plate. I was intrigued. Two flavours dominated – blueberry and deep fried kale. The kale was reminiscent of that so-called ‘seaweed’ you get from Chinese take-aways, which is deep fried shredded cabbage sprinkled with powdered scallops. I love it. For the life of me though, once I’d put that morsel of flavour into my mouth and a blueberry, I couldn’t distinguish the taste of the venison at all, nor indeed of the beetroot, which in my view should have provided an earthy flavour. I’m not sure what the solution to this is, but I hope my feedback makes them think again about this particular combination.
The lamb dish, which followed, did not have the same issues at all. The testimony to how much I loved this dish is that I didn’t stop eating it long enough to take a photograph! The menus told us it would be, Lamb, broccoli, tomato, radish, and so it was, but that’s only the start!!! The lamb was rump, tongue and sweetbreads. The rump was beautifully cooked, a vibrant reddish-pink colour and very flavoursome, however, the offal stole the day. Last time I had (veal) sweetbreads I really didn’t enjoy them and although I love eating cold pressed ox and pork tongue I’d never before eaten lamb tongue. The sweetbreads were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with just enough firmness to allow you to bite into it before it started to dissolve.
And so to the puddings. We next tucked into, Raspberry, lemon, pine nuts, which was in fact a light, sharp and delicious lemon posset with a pine nut crumble and raspberry sorbet on top. Heaven! The Pear, almond, ginger second pudding was equally delicious and light but by now the over-enthusiastic heating in the dining room was making us tired and longing for some cool, fresh air

Food & service were outstanding. Angus treated us like family, we enjoyed conversations about the food and the wine - staff were very knowledgeable about the dishes and gave GREAT recommendations on matching wines . Literally every course was delicious. They accommodated every need, including limited mobility issues and dietary requirements. Atmosphere was unpretentious and welcoming - we will return!! It was a fantastically memorable meal 🙂 thanks to all, chefs and service staff.

Such beautiful food, and the staff were lovely

We went yesterday for a surprise meal for my husbands 40th. Could not fault the place. Food and service was amazing. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a treat or for a special occasion. The menu was tweaked for us due to dietary requirements which they did with no problem at all. It was not pretentious in the slightest which made the experience even more enjoyable. Each course was explained to us fully and all the staff seems so knowledgeable in their roles. Deco was also amazing. Loved this place!
C. K.
Excellent food and drink.. Service is exceptional and the staff were superb but price let's it down for value for money. But we still loved it.

What an absolutely fantastic experience & night we had from the minute we walked in. Service, atmosphere & food just perfect. The whole ocassion exceeded our expectations making our Wedding Anniversary one we will always remember. We enjoyed every course & in particular the monkfish & the venison. Not fair to single out any one member of staff as they were all attentive & knowledgeable about everything to do with the experience. It is fitting to give a shout out to the brigade in the kitchen...one word 'outstanding' in your flavours & presentation. And as if things coudn't get any better, my Husband met his food hero, Chef Kenny!! A perfect ending to a magnificent experience. We need to support such a gem on our doorstep so book your table now. And many thanks for the anniversary card, we will treasure it forever.
G. B.
Fantastic experience, food was incredibly tasty and very arty. Service provided was excellent. Setting was lovely.
Booking is straight forward and hassle free.
Gluten free varient of the menu is also available which was fantastic.
Not suitable if you don't like seafood as a few of the dishes are fish/shellfish. Also if you're expecting large portions you'll be disappointed.
A. J.
We were two couples and we all thoroughly enjoyed the excellent food, professional and attentive staff.
However we thought that the lunch was pricy in comparison to other starred restaurants we have visited. But it did not spoil our enjoyment and will return one day .....
L. K.
We had the tasting menu and wine pairing. Exceptional food. Great wine and friendly attentive service. We will certainly be back again soon.
P. S.
I was taken to the House of Tides as a Christmas gift. The staff were very attentive from the moment we arrived. The restaurant had a rustic appearance with exposed wooden beams throughout. Our menu began with a Gougere of sundriesd tomatoe and cheese, behind a deseptively thin crust. A beautifully cooked scallop topped with caramised squash, truffle and bacon jam. Next was a dish of monkfish with mussels, followed by lamb belly, with onions and nasturtium. Then duck with smoked beetroot and salsify. We opted for the cheese course (extra £14), it was right up my alley with four strong cheeses. We finished with a very rich chocolate dish, and trio of petit fours. I can't fault the work that must have gone into the making of all the food because it all looked and tasted amazing, the only down side I can think of, and this is nit picking, was (a) the size of the lamb and duck felt small (they were the size of my little finger). This aside I thoroughly enjoyed my evening.
G. C.
A quality restaurant with attentive and knowledgeable staff.
It's a special kinda treat for yourself or family members.
It ain't cheap, but quality never comes on a shoestring budget.
There's a relaxing atmosphere with an extensive wine selection to purchase, or you can pair the wines with your sampling menu at additional cost.
I have to say, this is a classy addition to Newcastle's restaurant circuit.
J. T.
Amazing food, innovative beautifully presented and most importantly delicious to eat. The paring offers unique wines that compliment the food, and Matt explains the wines in a fun and easy to understand manner. All the staff were top notch. We were on our honeymoon, definitely recommend for any special occasion
c. h.
Solid cooking with some genuine highlights. Wine suggestions were a little weak in places. Nice decor. Attentive staff. Price is comparable to other 1 star. Cooking better than some 2 stars
D.
Amazing way to celebrate walking Hadrian's Way. Impossible to single out my favourite dish as they were all so delicious, tasting even better than they looked. The paired wines were well worth it with a few surprises thrown in. My favourite restaurant of all time.
G. O.
If you love beautiful food, beautifully presented then you'll love this place. Michelin starred for a very good reason. Great flavour combinations, perfectly balanced. Pricey, but worth it for a very special occasion.
A. L.
Ordered a home box for one and didn't regret. Too bad I didn't get a chance to dine at the restaurant in before lockdown but would love to go again in the future. Enjoyed every bite.
C. M.
Great food, service and a very enjoyable dinning experience.
A. I.
the food was a taste sensation every taste bud was awakened from a deep sleep. not cheap but if you want Michelin star cuisine in a non pretentious setting this for you it's all about the food not cheap and only tasting menu available but if you fancy a treat or have a special occasion this is the place to visit. The presentation was fantastic all senses alive for a beautiful surprisingly filling 7 course feast. The courses are sometimes bitesize so just enough space in the tum to finish.
A. R.
Just as stunning as always. They nailed every dish, paired them with delicious wines, and nailed the service.
M. H.
Great location, stunning looking and very tasty food. Great friendly professional service. Can’t wait to come here here again. Would definitely recommend.
C.
Best food I’ve ever eaten/will ever eat! Staff were lovely & attentive. If I won the lottery I would eat here every day!
M. M.
The food and the experience is absolutely amazing. Yes, it is expensive but the price is not hidden and its Michelin star is well deserved. Superb and knowledgeable staff, food is fresh and local
L. M.
A truly amazing experience. The food was another level, presentation just beautiful and absolutely delicious. The service was outstanding and the restaurant is just a gorgeous place to be. By no means cheap, you frankly you get what you pay for. We will be back!
M. M.
Unbelievable food, with incredible service. 100% recommended.
S. R.
Food was stunning, credit to Kenny and the team! Booked to go back once lockdown is over.
J. T.
Visited this fine establishment courtesy of a Christmas gift from our son & partner, have to say thank you to you both for this fantastic experience. Arrived a tad early, not a problem shown to a table with a great view of the Tyne, and it got better with each course of the taster menu, each course was exceptional in both presentation and taste, fully explained what we were having, any problems addressed ( Maureen wanted her venison cooked a wee bit longer no bother) attentive service throughout the meal. Well worth the Michelin star plus award's not cheap but worthy of a visit as I'm sure you will not be disappointed. Well done to Kenny and all the staff you should be very proud of your selves.
c. r.
Thoroughly enjoyable experience as it was my first time at a Michelin star restaurant. The knowledge of the sommeliers was outstanding with great pairings with all the dishes!
E.
Excellent food, possibly the best I have ever had. Staff is very attentive, helpful, and friendly.
Good selection of drinks, both for the beers and the wine.
Might seem like you don't get a lot of food, but as you get 9 or 10 courses, it ends up with a decent amount of food, but don't expect to leave bursting.
G. W.
Reduced tasting menu available following emergence from lockdown is still the most refined food in the North East. Absolutely superb.
M. W.
Really nice evening. Great food.
S. O.
House of Cards is a beautiful building set underneath I rather imposing structure of a bridge parking is opposite and fairly reasonable the Welcome is good they offer you the choice to sit and enjoy in the bar before hand or head on upstairs they take a note of where you are from and ask questions in a place manner to engage with you the service is excellent and stuff and knowledgeable of the products and dishes they are serving the food is second to none and a second star would not be out of place with a few improvements on the floor and a few other characteristics I would highly recommend it for a special occasion for when you want to feel like you are deserving of some quality
D. M.
No doubt a foodie experience I'll never forget. Each course of the tasting menu was a display of culinary excellence. For me, I'm not a desert person, was the parfait. Brilliant.
A. W.
Best food I’ve had! I’m not sure I’d get the wine tasting menu - in future I’d rather order a few bottles of wine.
L. S.
Went for my birthday and the service and tasting menu was fantastic. Would definitely recommend it and a return visit. Love it !!!!!!
J. S.
Absolutely amazing! Service is great, food is wonderful and a lovely pace to experience all the different courses.
J. B.
Each course beautifully presented. Food was fantastic. Service from staff was outstanding.
What an experience!

This is my 15th Michelin star restaurant visit and thankfully within 10 miles of where i live! Hubby brought me for my birthday treat and it was lovely. Bar downstairs where you have a cocktail and then taken upstairs to the restaurant. Attentive pleasant staff, great location and fabulous meal. Particularly enjoyed cheese board with 6 exceptional cheeses but crab was delicious and Daz loved the sweet even though not something we would have chosen. Had the 5 course tasting menu but of course by the time added amuse bouche, bread and extra cheese course was well and truly stuffed! Menu changes with the seasons so will definitely come again.
S. R.
Service was excellent from start to finish. Tasting menu was superb - excellent choice for a special celebration evening. Surprisingly good value for the wine I think. A once in a while treat for birthdays and celebrations.
J. A.
Had the tasting menu, was magnificent! Top quality food so it doesn't come cheap, but made for a fantastic belated birthday after months of lockdowns. The lunchtime service was very friendly and informal, not stuffy at all. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
N. P.
Well what can you say about a Michelin star restaurant apart from nom, nom, nom. Pictures paint 1000 words, so look at the attached food pics and you will understand.
J. E. F.
Exclusive nice a very good taste restaurant. Best of the North.
A. R.
Food was stunning, staff were fabulous & I would go back tomorrow if I could!
T. B.
Great food. Staff lovely. Wine pairing tremendous. Amazing experience of eating. A little pricy, but you get what you pay for!!! A definite treat. Met Kenny Atkinson as well, what a lovely bloke!
S. C.
Very very nice food and service .
The price is very reasonable and worth every penny.
Highly recommend the lobster!
G. R.
Very special dinner this evening, thanks to Kenny and the team, special thanks to Rachael who took great care of us and answered all of our questions with such a lovely friendly manner. Our dinner was really very good. Highly recommend House of Tides, best restaurant in Newcastle for very special occasions. 10/10
P. T.
Lovely staff, did the 8 course menu, had a bacon sandwich when I got home, this is more of an experience than a meal.
A. L.
Such a great experience from start to finish, food and wine were incredible, fantastic customer service
D. O.
Nice food and atmosphere but really underwhelming I guess? Nothing really sets it apart in a meaningful way...
A. N.
Excellent place. Had a great culinary experience from start to finish. I particularly loved the sensations of the seaside starter!
M. T.
Lovely meal with great atmosphere however lacked inventive side ! Well cooked however 12% service charge ridiculous!
A. N.
Food excellent, staff excellent, drink prices? Not shown a wine/drinks/list/prices just given reccomendations for pairing with food, once billed realised they were so much more expensive than our last visit, so that was disappointing shock.
p. s.
Amazing.
Stunning food, out of this world.
Never tasted food as good before. Brilliant staff, a warm and friendly atmosphere in a absolutely stunning building. Brilliant.
C. M.
Fantastic service and some of the most thoughtful, beautiful food we've eaten. Wine list was impressive and pre-dinner drinks were delicious. Highly recommended.
B. S.
Great food great wine. What more do you want.
M. K.
The most incredible food we've ever eaten. And the service is amazing!
g. s.
Fabulous incredible experience ❤️ it will definitely do it again Food was incredible xx
A. R.
It was amazing! Our first Michelin star restaurant! Thank you Danny and the team at House of Tides for an incredible experience.
A. V.
The House of Tides is very nice place, friendly with a very good kitchen for me the best dessert.
They brought us the wrong wine and I didn't realize it until the bottle was open and it's terrible, the worst I've ever tasted, I say this because I have only one glass and I have a terrible headache. It was my mistake not to realize that it was not the wine I had ordered.
The sweet teque in all the dishes was very similar and not changing flavors tires and ceases to surprise the palate in my personal taste.
A. S.
Beautiful meal, had the tasting menu with wine pairing. Service and food both second to none. The staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. Cant stop thinking about the Mussels/curry/potato and the beef shortrib - both outstanding. Cant wait to come back - thank you for a great evening.
P. L.
Great food and service. The sommelier in particular was very helpful, with excellent knowledge of and passion for the wines. I thought the lighting could've been gentler and we did feel a bit too close to one of the other tables. Overall though we had a lovely time.
K. R.
Ordered a House of Tides@At Home for my wife's birthday and can honestly say it was out of this world. The whole family loved this dining experience. Cheese board selection was superb. Thanks to Kenny and the team for a memorable lockdown evening.
G. W.
Visited for a birthday celebration and it's was fabulous! From walking into the front door we were warmly greeted by the staff and the service was attentive but not over bearing. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. The tasting menu was simply stunning. Every mouthful was an explosion of tastes and textures. The selection of wines was good and reasonably priced. Cocktails were excellent too.
H.
Excellent experience overall. Super friendly staff, delicious food and great wine paired by sommelier. A relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended!
C. C.
Came here for dinner with my other half and parents, such a brilliant night. The service is outstanding, right from being welcomed and having a drink in the bar, to being served through the night at your table. The whole visit is an experience, we did the whole tasting with wine, and got cheese, and it was outstanding. It manages to be special without being too posh, the atmosphere is fab, and we cannot wait to go back. Special shout out to the veal sweetbeards....WOW.
V. D.
Absolutely Wonderful. What a fantastic dining experience!
P. H.
An amazing evening of great food & wine. The tasting menu was exquisite and the wines perfectly matched. The staff were fantastic who were attentive without being imposing, a great way to celebrate mum's birthday. Thank you all so much x

House of tides 9th. September 2020.
60th birthday meal.
Stunning, marvellous, fabulous. Belated 60th off my kids, Kenny was on the pass, but I bottled out of asking him for a selfie. Staff great attentive knowledgeable. Fantastic guidance on wine choices to match the food. I have no more superlatives to add. Must try, everyone go and try , you will realise what these guys do to get their Michelin star .5 ******. Incredible. 👏👏👏. Thanks Kenny n staff 😁
S. F.
We visited here for my birthday. Overall the restaurant and meal were pleasant. The food was well prepared and presented, but sadly lacked any kind of wow factor. The staff were all polite, We had not been here for a while, the last time it was good but we were not “wowed “ but yesterday we had what was an exceptional meal it was just fantastic. The taste was fantastic.
D. P.
What a great night. Food was amazing, staff were attentive and knowledgeable. The wine selection with the meal was impeccable. This is more expensive than an average restaurant but the word average would not be mentioned in the same breath when talking about this restaurant. I cannot commend it highly enough.
B. A.
Had a great lunch. We had the taste menu which was fabulous! It covered a variety of dishes but the best for me was the curry soup with mussels, the beef and the monk fish. It was all fab and l will be back for the evening menu next year. The staff were all great, friendly, talkative.
A. K.
Nice food .. not much for your money
A. W.
My husband and I visited here on our 9th Anniversary a few years ago and most recently our 1st wedding anniversary the other weekend. We love this restaurant so much, everything is perfection! They are so accommodating of vegetarians and go out of their way to make your food as delicious as the normal menu. The sommelier was most helpful and allowed us to discover delicious wines we would never have usually tried. We will definitely be back.
C. T.
This was our second visit and we were disappointed. The food choice was disappointing, last time we could choose the food we ate in the tasting menu and this time, it was a set menu where we were served cheaper cuts of meat in miniscule portions that wasn't that flavoursome. Since the old chef left, the food is not as good, the balance of the flavours just isn't there. It was more expensive for less flavour and less food!! We would have liked to be served by the same waiter but they changed all the time.... it was so busy, it had lost it's sense of intimacy and we had to serve our own wine most of the time... this time it was not good!!
a. S.
I have travelled all over the world for the past two years visiting some fantastic restaurants! But this restaurant blew us out of the water! Divine dance to the taste buds with every flavour well thought of to compliment the delicious food. The staff are wonderful team with so much passion and knowledge. The whole experience was faultless and just a magical experience from the moment we walked in. Compliments to all the staff and the wonderful chefs! A grand delight and the best I had in 10 years! Scot our waiter was a great combo of laughter and knowledge! Good luck in your career.
Kind regards
Alice Kevans
M. C.
Taster menu was great and for me the there's a big clue in the name it is just that small taster courses, after eating, was left wanting more.
K. V.
Very friendly staff and great food!
M. A.
Staff are very knowledgable & extremely attentive, having said that, they do present you with a taster menu which is served at each service, so you’d expect a high degree of knowledge.
We would have preferred a la carte. We’d looked forward to this restaurant for a while.
I enjoyed everything, flavours & textures were divine. Sadly my husband was underwhelmed, in fact he was very underwhelmed.
It’s fairly expensive for the menu choice, the wine list is good, but again fairly expensive with comparable restaurants such as Jesmond Dene House which in our humble opinion should also have a Michelin star.
L. R.
Amazing experience. The food was so nice
C. M.
It was a lovely treat off the kids for last Christmas the food was out of this world the tasting menu was great
C. M.
So...the good bits: the food was delicious and well presented. The drinks were lovely and the wine pairing superb. The venue is nice.
The just ok: the service. The sommelier was good. The service efficient enough and not slow. However, having eaten at starred restaurants before one thing that stood out was that you could really 'feel' the staff around you so it was more intrusive service than I have experienced previously, for want of a better expression. Also we were seated right next to some sort of dresser and staff were walking back and forth and opening the draws which, when happening with 18 inches of your face whilst you are trying to enjoy dinner, was actually quite irritating. Also seeing a bottle of pledge in the drawer that was opened didn't scream 'upmarket restaurant', I have no issue with polishing but as a customer didn't need to see this.
I would definitely go back but would ask to be seated away from the dresser!
J. M.
Great experience. Pricey for the tasting menu, but it's Michelin Star so to be expected for the quality. Surprisingly didn't feel the need to run for a kebab afterwards, but i would only try this for a special occasion.
L. B.
Visiting here last night for my birthday was amazing lived up to our expectations and more. From the moment we walked in the door to the minuet we left. Staff give exceptional service are all friendly pesicion timing down to the cutlery being placed on the table between courses. The restaurant catered for my allergies and a personal requirement by calling to discuss before we visited on the day this didn't need to be discussed again staff were all aware when we arrived. Every course was just delightful eating mushroom with truffle and loved it steak tartare simply melted in the mouth I could go on and on. My husband and I are keen foodies and have watched Kenny and his chefs on many a competition and seeing him at the end of the evening in his own restaurant having over seen our food being prepared made my day.
To those people who said before we went small portions would not fill well they are wrong I wanted to try the cheese menu but after the tasting menu 1 we simply couldn't fit It in. Can't wait to go back thank to the House of Tides team for making yesterday a fantastic one .x
J. B.
High quality food as would be expected from a Michelin star restaurant. Very disappointed by the policy for using gift vouchers. We had a £200 voucher and a bill totally £190. When we tried to use half the voucher to be able to come back again we were told this wasn't possible. Instead the waitress took the whole voucher and said the bill has been covered. There was no suggestion of further drinks or anything, which was very disappointing considering there was nearly a £30 tip included in the bill. Instead they simply hurried us out the restaurant.
C. R.
Amazing birthday treat from my sister. Had the lunch tasting menu . Outstanding. A taste sensation and a feast for your eyes . Staff so attentive but friendly. Loved it .
G. L.
Incredible flavours, beautiful presentation and impeccable staff explaining the tasters.
They are taster over several courses and small portions , impressive wine list , not cheap but a worth while experience .
S. C.
Allow around 2 hours for your visit. We had the 7 course tasting menu. If your looking for fine dining look no further then house of tides. The food is exceptional and the staff are very attentive. All in all a great experience.
N. B.
Absolutely amazing even in these complicated times. The menu is wonderful inviting me to taste so many new things and loving it! Thank you for wonderful food and service!!
R. D.
Incredible experience, never been to a Michelin star restaurant before. Went for the 9 course and added the cheese course. Very expensive but worth it for the experience, the food was incredible and the staff were amazing. Didn't leave hungry either which I was worried about. Would definitely go back.
J. J.
Fantastic experience. The food was outstanding. The staff were brilliant it is really great to see staff in an English restaurant with the knowledge and experience of the food and drink, what great training! Would recommend a visit and we will definitely be back. Thank you.
R. K.
We're lucky enough to have eaten in some of the best restaurant's in the world.
We came here to celebrate our 10th Anniversary.
The venue is tasteful. The staff are friendly and know their stuff.
We had the taster menu....it certainly lived upto the hype we had heard. For me the true star of the show was the lamb! Oh my!
fabulous evening and will certainly return.
Thank you for a very special evening.
S. M.
This was our first time at HOT. It was fabulous. Service and food from tasting menu was all exceptional. Lovely unhurried atmosphere and friendly welcoming staff. Can't wait to go back!

Fantastic evening - really interesting and delicious food with great wine pairings. Relaxed atmosphere and lovely, knowledgeable staff made the evening brilliant. Would highly recommend!
L. T.
I'm actually surprised by how good this place is. The food is great and the staff are excellent. The tasting menu and a bottle of wine is well worth it
S. H.
Totally incredible dining. Loved the fact they have a veggie 7 course tasting menu. The food was amazing. Staff fantastic, and enjoyed having a sommelier to get some wise wine advice.. Really lovely place.!
D. M.
Excellent and imaginative food. Portion control could not have been better - ate every course and felt satisfied at the end. However, in retrospect felt it was not value for money. Too expensive for what we got.
A. F.
Fantastic food even the take outs don't disappoint. The instructions are easy to follow and the attention to detail is impressive. Amazing
B. E.
Fantastic Restaurant. With a Michelin Star.

The sea bass was excellent, the venison was good and the staff were very friendly. Some of the food was far too fussy and pretentious especially the oyster - just serve it with lemon and a shot of stout not a sickly sauce.
J. O.
AMAZING,!! From the food to the service and the the wine.
We had the tasting menu with pared wine, it wasnt cheap but if like us, you want a relaxed place, out if this world tasting food, and spot on matching wine then go to this fabulous restaurant.
K. W.
Excellent food and service.
K. S.
Very Very nice. Expensive but what do expect from a Michelin star restaurant that makes such good food and nice staff.
P. S.
Brilliant lunch ... a tour de force of sophisticated cooking and flavour combinations. All class, very little quantity, but that is a statement of fact and in no way a criticism. I loved it and begrudge not a penny.
C. N.
Amazing. Fabulous customer service
We had the tasting menu with wine pairing. Sommelier was so knowledgeable. Totally recommended

Great character building and atmosphere and amazing service... Oh and the food is first class.

Great service - Fantastic food - You know when you go to a restaurant and you see staff that have been there since the beginning you know they are happy and are treated well - And it’s obvious - We will be back.
J. G.
The best lunch I’ve had. So good we went back for dinner a couple of weeks later. Cannot recommend it highly enough!!!
M. C.
Fantastic Night! The food and service were excellent, we had a really good dining experience and would therefore recommend this to anyone who wants to enjoy excellent food at a leisurely pace!

Simply stunning. Make sure you go for the wine pairing. If you're considering this place don't think about it anymore and book a table

House of Tides review 27th August 16
Here is a great example of don’t read reviews and make your mind up before you walk through the door.
The House of tides exceeded all my expectations and more, from the word go the House of tides delivered, from the moment you walk in you sense that things are going to be special. Sitting in the reception area for pre-dinner drinks you get the sense of theatre without he drama.
Moving upstairs to the restaurant the décor is simple so not take away the focus of the main event, you are created by wonderful hosts, ours for the evening was a young guy called Adam.
The food arrived and course after course left you feeling wanting more, the plates where presented like a great Picasso (beauty on a plate) after savoring the look of each dish the taste did not disappoint.
Already booked to go back
M. F.
Excellent food and service. Never thought such seemingly small portions could fill you up so much. Shows how good the food is.
J. C.
Amazing food, first class service and went with my heavily pregnant wife; server knew everything about the food and potential allergens related to pregnancy and changed the menu accordingly - Never had service like it, unreal.
C. H.
This was such a fantastic experience. I loved it. The setting, staff and menu was amazing. Every course was just splendid
M. T.

My fiancée took me for my birthday. We had the dinner tasting menu. It was *incredible* - if you have a special occasion to celebrate, this is the place to go!
V. B.
Had the most amazing evening at the House of Tides. The food was superb & the staff were so attentive. Well worth a visit.
M. T.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Perhaps suitable of one star not two, but a genuine worthwhile experience: without a doubt!!
B. B.
Wonderful food and excellent service. Just expect to pay roughly £250 for a bottle of wine and tasting menu for 2.

P. A.

Perfect experience, amazing food, and attentive staff. Couldn't fault it!
A. B.
Very nice food and very attentive staff, however would still say portions are a little underwhelming as even after eating the entire meal still hungry.
P. G.
My wife and I have visited several Michelan starred restaurants and this is still our favourite above all others. The food is amazing!
B. T.
Fantastic food. A once in a lifetime experience. It will live in my mind especially as it was a present to my wife and I from our even more fantastic son, Callum.

A. E.
Just a cool place for an unusual tipple or two
J. B.
Delicious delicious food. Its a slight shame that the portion sizes are SO small, but at least you are able to eat all 8 courses without struggling too much!
A. A.
True 5 star experience, staff were extremely professional, atmosphere pleasant and the food quality very high. Expensive.
F. X.
Fantastic food and service, it is pricey so best for a special occasion but very much worth it!
S. O.
Five Star dining, exceptional service and all the rustic charm of an old Coaching Inn. Its no wonder it has a Michelin Star, the food was amazing.
C. C.
What an experience. Food delicious. Staff efficient and attentive. Hard to beat and well worth the money.
A. L.
With that master chef Kenny Atkinson at the helm you would find it an extremely difficult task to find a better restaurant in the city. Bookings by telephone with a debit/credit card to register your reservation.
J. B.
It's expensive, but in my opinion it was worth it, the food was outstanding
G. D.
Really good food, but really expensive food. Don't bother with the wine taster menu as it is poor value for money - £10 per very small glass of wine.
L. G.
