H.The place is amazing and elegant but very busy. The staff are so attentive. I had a sirloin stake and cheddar mushroom soup. Everything was very delicious. Definitely going back again. I recommend making a reservation because it is usually busy.

P. L.Amazing place. Accommodated almost 20 of us from Belfast for a stag party lunch. Food was amazing. I ordered off the standard menu, which is more expensive, but worth it. They also have a lunch menu, £9, £12, £15 for 1, 2 or 3 courses. Rachel was our host, and couldn't have asked for better. Amazing service.

Popped into today for some nosh with the wife.
The decor is lovely, the tables clean and the seating comfortable.
We got a bottle of water with ice and lemon on the table.
So, we was served by a waiter called, James. A lovely gent whom was helpful and attentive and very friendly.
We just had mains and a pud.
We got the surf and turf fillet with a lobster tail served rare.
It took around ten-fifteen minutes to arrive, in that time we had a few cocktails and didn’t notice the wait.
The steak was beautifully cooked rare, the lobster tail was excellent, my onion loaf was lovely and we bother got lovely peppercorn sauce was a delight.
We got sides of greens, Mac ‘n’ cheese and garlic mushrooms, all fantastic.
We got a pud of Apple & Rhubarb crumble, one with custard and one with ice cream.
I found the crumble a little sweet, but that was cut down by the rhubarb filling. The custard was outstanding.
It was a moderately expensive. But it was well worth it. We left full, happy and a bit out of pocket but you need to treat yourself.
Recommend? Definitely. Great staff, great food and simply a beautiful place for steak lovers.
Negatives: none, just the cocktail julep had a lot of ice. A minor criticism for such a lovely day.
Get yourself along, you can get cheaper nosh on the menu if you don’t fancy splashing the cash.

Food was nice, but I had to send it back as it was cold, came back nicer. Is it worth the cost? Nope. There's so many places that do amazing food for half the price of this place. However the service was that good it pulls the whole rating up.

I think the fact both these names have stuck in my head speaks volumes on the level of service we received. The service we got was amazing, we did not feel rushed but did not wait for anything. The restaurant was immaculate, lovely surroundings, we were on the 1st floor at the balcony overlooking downstairs. The restaurant was full, there were enough staff and no one appeared to be stressed. Jack was clearly the meter and greeter but never stopped, he was clearing and setting tables ready for the next diners. Having worked in this industry, I appreciate it is not always the case that everyone pulls their weight. The food was delicious and the atmosphere delightful. I could not fault one part of our evening. Thank you.

A. S.We were a group of 9 visiting from Ireland had pre booked our table which was laid out beautiful on our arrival we were greeted by your friendly host and attended by our lovely waitress. We all had the 2 course lunch menu with drinks and both were excellent and superb value for money. I would highly recommend Miller and Carter to friends and family and will definitely be back. There was just one small thing it was a warm day outside yet inside it was very cold hence we kept our coats on and actually was a conversation we had as we felt it lead to a cold ambience in a fabulous restaurant. In saying that we will be back.

Our server was Amelia, she was attentive, lovely to talk to helpful in every way. The food was to die for cooked to exactly how we like it. So delicious. One negative thing couldn't understand the wedge of lettuce, was to big and didn't really go with the meal. We didn't have dessert as we were to full but what we saw of other customers having looked delicious.

J.My husband and I are really late to the party and have only just discovered Miller & Carter. We actually discovered it the day after our wedding in July when we fancied a posh first meal together as husband and wife and so we decided on here as we enjoy steak and we'd always wanted to try it. We were not disappointed, we both had the 10oz grain fed rib-eye with chunky chips, peppercorn sauce, onion fritter, grilled tomato, mac & cheese and garlic mayo with parmesan wedge. We've been back every weekend since we discovered it! Every meal we've had has been delicious, today we tried their burgers for the first time and whilst my husband tried the dirty burger I had just the normal bacon and cheese burger, mine was delicious but my husband remarked that his had fatty bits and gristle which is unfortunate but does happen sometimes. I think in future I'll just stick to their steak. On the day after our wedding we told the server that we had just been married the day before and he very kindly organised some ice cream with congratulations written on the plate, we thought this was a lovely and kind gesture. We have recommended this restaurant to all of our friends, work colleagues and family and we will continue to visit in future, keep up the great work! The staff are lovely and the food is delicious, never had a bad meal yet, it's now our favourite restaurant!

A.My husband and I came here on Thursday the 9th for our wedding anniversary dinner. This was quite a treat for us since we wouldn't normally spend so much money on one meal but it was so worth it! We arrived about 25 minutes early for our reservation but we were seated right away.
We used the dinner date menu (you get a starter, a main and a dessert for 30 pounds pp) . We both had the belly pork bao buns as starters, the 50 day aged Black Angus ribeye for mains and for dessert he had a biscuit torte and I had the brownie. We both had a signature cocktail each.
The food was delicious for the most part.
The bao buns had plenty of filling, the only comment I would make is that the belly pork was slightly overcooked/dried out. Not enough to send back in my personal opinion.
The main was gorgeous, could not fault it. The steak was tender, the chips perfectly seasoned. The onion loaf was something neither my husband or I had ever tried before. I personally don't usually enjoy onions and only use them to enhance certain dishes however this tasted interesting. My husband loved it. The beef dripping sauce was beautiful. The salad wedge is something I've never seen done before and looking at it I thought there was no way there is enough dressing there for the whole thing once cut and mixed (not sure how else to eat a salad wedge haha) but there was actually the perfect amount. Both my husband and I had a good laugh struggling to cut ours. Honestly it made us giggle.
The deserts were OK. The brownie was warm and rich and my husband loved his torte slice.
The drinks were lovely. There was so much food and everything was nicely presented.
James served us. He explained everything about how the menu we chose worked which was perfect because the way the online menu was set up confused my husband and I slightly in terms of what we could order. He was lovely and always made sure we were OK. Even though by the time we were eating our mains the restaurant was packed we never felt ignored or rushed.
The restaurant does get quite loud when it's full but that's something that can't really be avoided and no fault of the establishment so if you prefer a quieter environment I would suggest going before the dinner rush.
We enjoyed our meal and will return for another special occasion.

Fantastic venue in Newcastle adds to the ambiance and atmosphere - really good friendly service good starters and wow - the black angus fillet mignon was superb! Really reasonably priced Zinfandel from Ravenswood in California was a perfect partner for the main course - superb!

The date special was excellent value and this option when on a budget gave us the chance to get a full taste of your 3 courses... James was looking after us and he was excellent .... he was freindly, helpful, attentive to our needs without pestering us and as it was our wedding anniversary arrange a little surprise (happy anniversary written in choc sauce on our desert lo) which was greatly recieved. This guy deserves a bonus or special recognition as he was very busy but ensured everyone recieved the same level of service .... lovely place, fab food, freindly and helpful staff. Can't wait for our next visit. Only 1 criticism though improve on selection of deserts.
L. S.Tremendous steak restaurant serving a wide range of cuts with lovely starters and sides; I've never had a bad meal from here. My only gripe is that service was slow on our last visit, with our wedge salad coming five minutes before or steak and then a further wait for chips. At this price I would expect better service.

Good location, good food, good service, good selection, easy booking process - they've always been spot on.
This visit was particularly good - I'd booked a table but got there early but got seated straight away andcour drinks order was brought to the table while we had a look at the menu.
Our server, Chloe, made sure we understood the menu and explained any queries.
The food was delicious when it was brought to the table - it was cooked fresh which is great.
It is definitely a place I go as a treat as it is higher priced than run of the mill restaurants but you pay for quality and service!

R. G.Firstly, this restaurant is expensive so if cheap is what you're looking for, steer clear.
The menu is not as extensive as one might hope for. There is less than a hanful of dressings for the lettuce wedge and less than a handful of sauces to accompany the steak.
The steaks are pricey, as one would expect from a steakhouse. I would love to say I thoroughly enjoyed my entire meal, alas, I cannot. The starter and dessert were sublime, however, my steak that had been ordered medium - per the menu recommendation - was served rare.
The staff were excellent. Our waiter was Harry, and I have never had a better waiter.

We shared starters of calamari and scallops which were delicious, I had the black Angus sirloin, rare, it was cooked to perfection and with beef dripping sauce well what can I say 😋😋 My good lady had sirloin too medium rare and she wasn't disappointed. The service was excellent, we waited a couple of minutes to be seated but no biggy. Chloe our waitress really made the dining experience, thanks very much we will be back.
T. S.Environment and atmosphere was nice. Took about 5 minutes of waiting at front desk before was even acknowledged and that was only to say someone would be with us shortly.
Staff were friendly once interaction started.
Some starters not available as they’d ran out. We dined at 6.30pm.
Starters we did have were excellent. Mushrooms and the garlic bread were so tasty.
Steaks- ribeye 50 day natured - was more medium than medium rare. Server suggested about 3 times to go medium but we wanted medium rare.
The sirloin was the fattest sirloin steak I’d ever seen. Not fat, chunky. Was cooked as I requested but didn’t seem to have any particular taste. And it was quite chewy.
Starters came within a few mins of ordering. Steaks took about 30 mins.
Salads were wedges which were weird, filled with the dressing of your choice but were ok.
Didn’t have sweets. Drinks ok but felt a bit pricey for a bottle of coke.
Toilets visited by the other half and the daughter. Weren’t impressed. Of 3 only one operational and wasn’t clean.
We pre booked for Mother’s Day and was £10 per head. They “forgot” or didn’t ask if I’d paid it but I’m sure they know I had as was mandatory for Mother’s Day so did t deduct from the bill until I asked about it.
In all, £90 for 2 adults and a child for an ok meal was a bit disappointing and didn’t feel value for money. Would be felt differently if the steak was really nice.
So probably wouldn’t go back. Well excel for the starters!
R. B.Is 5 stars all I can give? Simply the best steak, the best meal, the best service I have had anywhere. It's not cheap but is worth every penny. Everyone who works here knows their stuff, from waiters to the chef. Plus they source the best ingredients. I can't wait to go back and don't think I will have steak again anywhere else until I do.

The food was incredible (see pictures of 8oz medium rare sirloin with the beef dripping sauce, lobster and king prawns tempura and garlic and parmesan lettuce wedge).
We arrived and were greeted by a lovely lady that gave us a gadget to get drinks at the bar while they cleared a table for us, 5 minutes later and we were seated and our server, Matthew (who is a credit to the name), took us through the menu and gave recommendations tailored to how we like meat cooked. The food came and was to die for, compliments to the chef!
Everyone we came into contact with was extremely pleasant, even servers we walked past on our way to the table wished us a lovely evening. The best customer service and food experience of my life.

There is a wide choice of steaks and other food on the menu, and also a wide choice.on the drinks menu to choose from. The atmosphere in the restaurant is so relaxing, with the background music. My wife and I shared a chateaubriand which we agreed was the best steak we'd ever eaten. Reasonably-priced for food of such quality, with a great choice of beers and wines and a really good atmosphere, I would highly recommend you to visit a Miller & Carter as soon as you can. Oh, and when you do, choose the British beef dripping sauce!!!

The food itself was 5/5. We ordered halloumi fries and cheesy garlic bread as starters, and the halloumi fries came with a garlic aioli and cranberry seeds, which made for an excellent combination. The garlic bread was fresh and crunchy and didn't go soggy or cold.
For the main course the quality of the cut was excellent and cooked to perfection. My girlfriend and I have already planned our next trip to M&C!

First time out after lockdown. We've been to M&C many times before lockdown and can only sing its praises.
Today though was disappointing. Let me explain.
A treat for a belated wedding anniversary, an early request for a table upstairs when we booked online 6 weeks ago, sorry we can't do that we're fully covered up there. No worries, difficult times, reduced capacity, can't be helped.
Onto the food. Ordered the Chipotle chicken chilli sauce for a starter, and had these little bites of heaven before and they were truly divine. Today we were told they had no chilli sauce left and came with bbq sauce. Disappointing. When they arrived, almost too quick, as though they were just waiting on the pass already, they were nothing like what we have had before. Felt like reheated chicken coated in a sickly generic bbq sauce. Never mind, it's the starter, not the reason we rocked up.
We pushed the boat out and went for the butchers block, an absolute meat feast, with ribeye, rump and a couple of fillets, and to top it all off, my true guilty pleasure, the marrow bone with steak n cheese, sheer decadence. Amazing. On top we ordered the onion loaf as a side, also gorgeous. Order complete. Sit back and anticipate.
Twice we were offered the lettuce wedges we didn't order, sorry M&C but I'm not going to a steak restaurant and filling up on rabbit food.
Well the butcher block arrived and the first thought was this wasn't what we asked for. In pride of place on top was a rack of ribs smothered in the same sickly bbq sauce. We pointed out this wasn't our order and not what we asked for but it was explained to us the marrow bone was no longer available and was now served with ribs instead. We were never told about this, and tbh we may not have ordered the block if we'd known, ribs are ribs, but bland, and the sauce really spoilt them. Tbh I can cook tastier and better.
On top of this the block came with onion loaf, which we didn't realise as we had ordered extra as it wasn't clear on the menu it was with the block.
We can't fault the steak we had. The ribeye, rump, fillet was truly spectacular as usual, and tasted amazing and the sauces were superb.
Our server did come over and apologise profusely for the confusion. Immediately taking off the cost of the starter and the unrequired additional onion loaf, huge kudos for that. She explained the marrow bone option was no longer available, if only we had been told earlier, it may have influenced our order.
Overall, the quality and tastiness of the steaks and sauces and fries were superb, but, as I started out saying, the disappointment is that the menu wasn't clear for us and what we got isn't what we asked for.
Disappointing, maybe its time to try Tomahawk next time.

We had a beautiful calamari starter, cooked perfectly and tasted great, we also had two burgers which were delicious as well, if not just a little over-seasoned with salt.
The length of time between the starter and main was just over 30 minutes, which is fine if you are enjoying a quiet night out, we were not in any hurry so it was fine.
The worrying thing is that not one person was wearing a mask or visor. The staff, you could see, were trying to maintain a safe distance but it's not possible when laying food on the table, paying or signing their allergy iPad (which was filthy, we washed our hands after touching this, and not just because of covid).
The staff we did interact with were pleasant and attentive but not overly so.
The hotel I'm staying in, most of the staff (all food service staff) have a mask or visor on, I think it provides a sign to customers that you have their best interests at heart and I think Miller and Carter should reconsider their standing on this matter. I won't eat there again with this knowledge.

The 2nd menu was wine list again very good selection..can recommend the Shiraz. We had desserts again lovely selection. We finished with coffee and it was our only disappointment..it was just warm. The staff were very professional but as the restaurant became busier I felt that they were user pressure. We would certainly recommend a visit.

J. K. S.Our monthly meal out brought us to this Newcastle institution, a restaurant that had been well recommended to us by several people including the friends we dined with. We were seated quickly and our waitress was very friendly and helpful throughout the meal. We ordered a sharing starter and our friends had the scallops they had enjoyed on a previous visit. The sharing starter was a bit of a disappointment overall as the hand cut nachos could have been so much better and the wings were also quite average although the meatballs were tasty enough and the mac and cheese was delicious. Then came the steaks, all cooked to perfection, full of flavour with the accompaniments being both generous and tasty. Steaks are the thing the chain is famous for, it is the focus of their attention and their advertising and they pride themselves on getting them right. They did themselves proud. From the lettuce with blue cheese dressing through steak, onion loaf, tomato, fries and mushroom steak sauce, everything was great, great flavours, great portions and well presented. So all in all an enjoyable night out, the starter was a bit hit or miss for us but our friends scallops were good so we live and learn. It's pricey, when it's busy the restaurant is noisy but the steaks are delicious and for a treat well worth a visit.

Steak was average, and nothing beyond what I've had elsewhere in other chain restaurants without the 'premium' price. There are better places in Newcastle to get better steak.

The staff friendly and today served by new waiter Raz, he was great, attentive enough without it being too much and service was paced just right. My only criticism, ditch the wireless order pads, on both visits, the waiters have struggled with signal, sometimes paper/manual is simply better!!

(Not a fan of sweetcorn but this was fantastic) I had two quarters of chicken stacked the top was slightly dry but the bottom was 👌🏽.
I also had halloumi fries, beef fries and completed with a Strawberry sling cocktail - I was in a food coma by the time I got home.
Only issue for reducing this to four stars is because it was slightly cold.

The regular fries are pathetic and a real embarrassment to somewhere claiming to be a steak house. The salad wedge doesn't make and sense and from the menu it is very misleading; I thought I was ordering a sauce for potatoe wedges. There is nowhere on the menu that states the alternative to fries and the waitress did not mention them. If you're looking for a steak night experience then I can not recommend this place.
A. N.If you fancy a steak, then look no further. My food was delicious and the wine was a perfect match. Great service and warm atmosphere. My only criticism is the appetisers that don't really feel part of the theme of a steak restaurant - but I can't explain why. I mean they're tasty, but just didn't feel like they should be part of the meal. I'll definitely be going again, and feel like it's a safe option when guests are in town (just as long as they're not veggies).

From the moment I entered the doors I was made to feel welcome. I was greeted and shown straight to my table by a friendly member of staff who took my drinks order and then explained the menu to me, whilst considering my steak preferences and .along recommendations.
I went straight for the main and I'm glad I did, the 18oz ribeye on the bone is a monster, cooked perfectly and full of flavour. The wedge of lettuce was a pleasant surprise, covered in blue cheese and Stilton, something I'd not had at other steak restaurants.
The service was great, very attentive and I was never left awkwardly trying to catch a waiters attention, which seems all too common in restaurants these days. You can tell the staff do their jobs with passion and aren't just waiting to clock off.
I would never have guessed that this restaurant is part of a chain. The price, whilst not cheap, is on par with any other good restaurant you would find in a city centre across the country.
Highly recommended.

N. A.Booked a table for four at 7pm on a Friday evening. We arrived quarter of an hour early and were told our table would be ready soon and given a buzzer with our tab number on so we could order drinks at the bar.
Bang on 7pm we were called to our table where our waiter, Rory, introduced himself and explained how the menu worked as it was our first time there.
We all ordered starters and mains, which arrived in very good time seeing as it was peak time. We had one person with gluten and dairy intolerances and all of her food was adapted to her needs.
The steak was fantastic (I had the bistro fillet of rump cooked rare) and the side dishes all looked very tasty.
With a party of four having drinks at the bar, two bottles of wine, starters, mains and deserts, the bill came to about £60 each. But you're paying for great food, drink and friendly service. Definitely somewhere to go for a special occasion.

The place is renowned for the steaks, the steaks are really well cooked, and if you nees any suggestions, feel free to ask the waiter.
I would recommend you to book a table in advance, as the place can get really crowded, and even finding a table for a small group can be a gamble without a reservation. Even if the staff try their best, there is only so much they can do if you show up without a reservation.
It is a really recommended place if you want to have a nice dinner with a partner as the tables have a nice distance between each other. Including that the restaurant itself is really well lighted and taken care of.
The restaurant is also very well located in the city centre of Newcastle, surrounded by a large amount of bars, pubs, and dancing clubs if you feel like having a good night out in Newcastle after a great dinner.

L. M.I really wanted to love this place but unfortunately there were some issues. The waiters felt a bit like they were more focused on closing than the actual service, even though we were there 2 hours before they closed.
I’m a sommelier and it annoyed me there were no vintages on the wine list and most of the wines didn’t have a particular region. I feel like if you’re trying to match wines and food you need more info and vintages. We ordered the ribeye medium rare and it came out blue as anything, not even close to medium rare so we had to send it back. The side wedge salad had quite a bit of brown lettuce and the salad was washed but there was so much water at the bottom of the bowl of the salad which was quite disappointing and unappetizing. The side mushrooms were also under seasoned.
There’s seriously need for improvement, the most disappointing being the incorrect cooking of the steak, in a steak house.

The whole experience was great, we thoroughly enjoyed it and will be visiting the Miller and Carter where we live, near Doncaster. So I would recommend this restaurant highly! Thankyou.

P. D.Good food but not really great for special diets and some of the staff are bit clueless. The staff didn't seem entirely certain what ingredients were in the food. To be fair to them they are probably just working from the same very vague allergy menu that they give their customers. They were quick to offer to leave out parts of dishes (no sauce, no dressing etc "just in case" - i.e. covering themselves) but offered no alternatives. In fact one part of my dinner companion's steak plate was removed after ordering without any consultation and replaced with an extra slice of tomato (a whole slice!). You also might need to make sure you ask that your Adams bitter is not served with a glass full of ice when you order it.

G. V.Moderately good food but overpriced. Let's be honest, this is not really haute cuisine. My rumpsteak was pretty good (at £17 for 8 ozs. it should have been!). It came with French fries, a quarter of a grilled tomato (dull and half cooked) and a sort of onion cake which was alternately crisp and absurdly chewy, almost impossible to eat. The included side dish is a wedge of iceberg lettuce with a dressing of your choice. I chose blue cheese, which was just a smear of mayo and a quantity of crumbled stilton; no attempt had been made to amalgamate the two ingredients into anything resembling a dressing. My starter of scallops (without the roes, which are the best part) were tender and properly cooked but came in a sauce which successfully obscured their delicate flavour. The pudding was creme brulee, the brulee part being a scattering of sugar very imperfectly torched, so that there was no crust, just sugar crystals, though the custard cream was good.
Service, however, was uniformly superb. Lovely, smiling, helpful staff, made one welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for our cheerful waitress.
So, to sum up: brilliant service, but food does not match the price charged.
