Went for the festive vegetarian tasting menu but asked ahead if they could make it vegan, peace and loaf did not disappoint. They just couldn't make one of the pudding courses vegan so gave a cocktail instead. We were looked after by the staff really well through our visit and all the dishes were amazing. Definitely worthy of a five star rating.

Excellent experience at Peace & Loaf. After having been recommended P&L, my wife and I were not disappointed. We had the smaller taster menu which was just right for us, however on a future occasion, we will opt for the larger option. Reason being...excellent food, well balanced flavours and combination of dishes. The staff are excellent, very attentive. We were impressed by the entire team's knowledge, easily answering questions we had. Cocktails were very tasty, we found the same level of attention was delivered with drinks as the food, but of course, the food and service are the real standouts here. Fantastic evening. The best dining experience I've ever had. Chose the smaller evening menu and every course was superb. Halibut, chicken pie topped my list followed by the bread and cultured butter course. Every member of staff encountered was, polite, knowledgeable and attentive. Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant. The chef truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted on the taster menu melted in our mouths. Took my family to Peace and Loaf this evening to celebrate my father's 70th birthday. We had the taster menu for four, and we weren't disappointed. Booked on a Saturday for myself and my daughter. We ordered the 8 course vegetarian tasting menu - each course was fabulous, beautifully presented and cooked,using the finest locally sourced ingredients. Staff were so lovely - one of the best meals we'd eaten in a long while. Highly recommended.

Worth every penny. Would recommend to anyone. I'm partly devastated that the kitchen doesn't sell the sorbet they use on the galangal and rhubarb dish. It would be amazing if the chef had a blog or something on how he made it. I'd happy pay for tubs of that stuff!

10 course taster menu was superb and very filling. Breakfast and dinner definitely not required! Food was all extremely tasty and the courses complimented each other very well. Vegetarian in party also received a great vegetarian version version of the same menu with excellent vegetarian substitutions (some of which were superior in my opinion). The restaurant itself has wonderful staff who are both knowledgeable, courteous and professional. Decor is stylish and music pipes tastefully over head to support the friendly and intimate atmosphere despite each table being populated. Toilets are clean and tastefully decorated. Definitely one for special occasions.

Very nice food and friendly staff. Only criticism are the round tables are too big, so you can't chat easily to the person opposite, and this isn't helped by a sound system that isn't clear at the volume the music is played, so it becomes interfering back ground noise. We did enjoy ourselves that said.

Best restaurant in Newcastle!! How this place doesn't have a Michelin Star is beyond me. Great innovative dishes with flavours that are incredible. Very relaxed atmosphere, lovely friendly staff. Cannot praise P&L highly enough . Everything is excellent, food is amazing, the fixed prix lunch menu is a steal at £25.00 a head. Beautiful food, fab restaurant and excellent service. Festive set menu 2018 review. Restaurant is cosy, stylish and unique in its layout. Far bigger inside than expected. Festive set menu was a beautiful 3 course set menu with a choice of 3 options for starter main and dessert. Interlaced with ‘bread and snack’ and a ‘surprise’! My chosen three Ham hock Goose Christmas spring roll Bread and snacks Lovely start here warm bread with I’m sure our waitress said beef fat whip but I might have miss heard as I was eyeballing the presentation. (It was gorgeous anyway) Tempura sprouts (not a spout fan, loved them!) Crispy chicken skin was tasty and the black pudding macaroons where sweeter than I anticipated but good. Ham hock was a lovely fresh starter Colourful, fresh and tasty The surprise! I don’t won’t to spoil this but good god I could eat that again and again! Well done chef that was beautiful The Goose Lovely bit of goose seared and full of flavour Accompanied by a Morteau sausage and root veg. Would have liked a little more stuffing but that because I love it. We added the goose fat roasties which where lovely the lamb fat clapshot which I need to learn how to make it was gorgeous ( I’m guessing swede and carrot mash with a good amount of mint and a lamb jus) and the cabbage and bacon which was good. Pretty stuffed at this point. Christmas spring roll Yep that’s Christmas in a spring roll. Divine! Like a mince pie really with a crispy shell rolled in cinnamon and sugar served with a brandy ice cream. To die for! All along the staff where friendly, pleasant and attentive. Service was smooth and paced well. Beautifully presented and tasty food. Atmosphere cosy and relaxed. I look forward to returning.

Unpretentious but world class restaurant. The tasting menu concept is brilliant. The food was outstanding. Very fancy place, with prices to match, food quality outstanding however, comfortable however was tight and I ended up sitting near the kitchen hatch hence the lost 🌟 the heat as you can expect was shall we say noticeable. Not much choice for kids, get a baby sitter, and treat the other half! I also paid a hefty deposit which was almost forgotten to be subtracted from the bill. Other than that very nice!

The tasting menu here is astonishing for it's imaginative construction as well as its tastebud-seducing multifaceted array of flavours for both committed carnivores and vegetarians. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff fantastically friendly, professional, personable and knowledgeable. The whole experience is one to savour and is extremely good value.

Hubby brought me here for my birthday on Tuesday and we had the £80 ten course tasting menu which was wonderful. Only one course jarred- afraid I didn't like lamb with kipper- but the rest were sublime. Particularly enjoyed the raw scallop with pear starter and the pineapple pan perdu sweet. Wine was reasonably priced and my Tom Coulson Collins cocktail (named after chef's son) was lovely. Also discovered a new drink- chambord, a raspberry liqueur which went very well with sweets- yes that's sweets plural! Set over 3 floors it's not huge possibly 50 covers so cosy atmosphere with really tall ceilings so bright and airy. Staff all knowledgeable and friendly. The chunky chips with parmesan and steak we noticed on another table were HUGE and I don't know how the couple managed to eat them all but they did so might try them next time 😜

It can't be easy to be known as one of the absolute best restaurants in town, but despite high expectations the food, service and cocktails were all absolutely superb. My wife & I love to cook, but are a bit restaurant shy since often the food is just a bit mediocre - not so at Peace & Loaf. We ordered three courses (via the Prix Fixé menu), each of which was exceptional, and interspersed by several amuse-bouches - a total delight. The staff were the right mix of friendly/attentive and also discreet - just what we wanted for a romantic night out. High-end dining is a totally different food experience - every flavour was so rich that in a way you don't get full like you do when your meal comes with a big plate of rice or potatoes (though I presume you could order these too - we didn't), but we both agreed that at the end of dinner we were thoroughly satisfied, so the tiny portions of each of so many things were just right. We had cocktails and then tap water (no wine), plus one side, and total including tip came to just under £100 - with the Prix Fixé menu (available before 7pm), it wasn't even particularly expensive for something truly exceptional. Bravo, Peace & Loaf - you totally lived up to your stellar reputation :o)

The drink selection and pricing were both good. The star of the show was the main course - we shared the beef for two. Personal favourites were the black pudding macaroons and the mackerel elderflower dish, sensational, as was the service. I've eaten at Michelin star restaurants all over the world, I would not be surprised if peace & loaf earn there's in the next year or so. My only negative is that the décor does not reflect the food.

This is without a doubt, the best restaurant in the whole of the North East! We chose to celebrate our 10-year anniversary here - from start to finish, the service, food and ambience were absolutely peerless. On top of the main dishes, which were all incredibly delicious, the little extras like the bread and beef dripping butter or the cheese eclair with sweet chilli jam, are unbelievable and just take your experience to the next level! The only downside to our experience was that we missed out on dessert this time, as we got carried away ordering mac & cheese as a side dish 🙈 already salivating in anticipation of our next visit!

Hands down this is my favourite restaurant in Newcastle. The service, quality of food and atmosphere is of the highest standard. I would caution you though that after eating here it can put a dampener on other restaurants in Newcastle, for example when I recently went to House of Tides, I almost felt annoyed that I had paid more than double that I would have at Peace and Loaf but I did not receive a significantly higher standard of food and service. I actually left with a slight amount of regret that I could have gone to peace and loaf for lunch aswell as dinner and still had money left over. I would recommend to book between 5pm and 7pm where you will be able to get 3 courses for £30, which is incredibly good for the quality of food. You will not find better food for that price anywhere else in Newcastle.

An excellent treat for our family birthday meal. We went for Saturday lunch and enjoyed the fixed price lunch menu which was an absolute bargain. Delicious canapés and homemade bread with dripping to start the experience, then a split across the table between raw beef pie (delicious) and smoked haddock (divine) starters. All 5 of us had lamb main with several of the side dishes (lamb clapshot was a revelation) and we were not disappointed - 5 clean plates! Lovely puddings and a birthday chocolate treat to finish. Staff friendly and attentive without interrupting. A delightful experience and fabulous food, couldn't ask for more. We'll definitely be returning.

My brother and I visited on 12th December 2018. He came down from Edinburgh whilst I came from Knaresborough. Mostly we were blown away by our experience. Starters and the assiette dessert were stunning as were the little tasters in between courses. We both had the goose Christmas dinner for main. This was at best average. The goose was tasteless, the roasted vegetables were soft with little character or taste and the goose fat roast potatoes were poor in the extreme. Add the fact that the whole dish was served on a cold plate then what you are left with was a write off. Staff were brilliant and overall, despite the main course we had a good experience.
