Reviews of Pleased To Meet You

Mussels were the best I’ve ever had, we even asked for more bread to soak up the sauce (they charged us for the extra bread). The portion size was value for money too, filled us up!
The Sunday roast lunch was amazing too, flavour and quality reflected the price point. Quality cooking and quality ingredients.
The atmosphere was good, welcoming and warm. Staff were attentive and helped answer any questions and queries.
Drinks were good too. Definitely would go back again for the mussels alone!
D. B.
This restaurant was, in general amazing. We had the mussels to start, and the risotto scallops for a main, with the honeyed carrots. Everything, along with a very nice glass of white wine, was perfect. And then came dessert, which came to a horrible crashing conclusion. We ordered the “Summer Brioche Pudding” to share. Firstly, the server failed to bring any cutlery, which made consuming it difficult. We ended up sharing a spoon left over from an earlier course. Secondly, “brioche” is apparently a synonym for aged, sliced white bread from Morrison’s. While elements (the Prosecco jelly) were nice, the overall presentation was a little too reminiscent of a sandwich from a school outing to Gibside. Terrible ending to an otherwise nice meal out.
E. K.
Lovely cocktails! 2 for £12 on weekdays 3-7pm, and can mix & match any on the menu. Highly recommend the Perfect Pear, and Winter in Japan.

The 1st time we went it was good. food really good, service ok .
The second was a shambles, had to wait 5 minutes before anyone even came to seat us. Most of the menu was off. Service was terrible as there was only 2 staff running around, the food is good but very salty. We just put it down to being midweek and give it another chance.
3rd time.
Service was miles better, only one thing off the menu.
The food was OK again but same problem, salt way to much.
The menu is limited and very overpriced.
Some people may love it, but it's not for me.

Came for sunday lunch, which was delicious! Trio of meats with a giant yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings. It wasnt busy on this visit but ive known it to be usually. Staff welcoming and attentive. Great venue which is well decorated and a popular spot in Newcastle. Cant go wrong here.
S.
This bar looks lovely on the outside and the pics on Google maps make it look lovely too but it wasn't that nice inside. I expected table service but you had to order at the bar. After the two people in front of me were served nobody came to serve me, the 2 people on the bar went to others who had only just turned up. I chose to wear my mask at the bar as it was crowded, I'm not sure if that went against me or just that my face didn't fit. I almost got to the point of leaving until the manager served me.
I wouldn't bother visiting this bar if there are others on your list. I didn't get chance to try the speakeasy, I felt it might disappoint.

I had an awesome experience today at Pleased To Meet You. Firstly I love the name it is very catchy and it keeps you anxious to know what the place is about. I definitely had the best steak it was so yummy. The staffs were quite friendly and respectful making me feel very relaxed and lastly it is calm, peace and quiet was exactly what I needed on my outing today.

Great experience. Lovely surroundings in the restaurant. Great service hoyt out to Jess who looked after us so well. Food was delicious, the nicest steak I've had for a long time. Sunday lunch was devoured by dad. Wine list is good value, and good selection of beers and of course the gins!! Will return soon.
E. K.
Had afternoon tea with a girlfriend for her birthday was lovely, young man served us straight away with Prosecco , he was very pleasent wishing my friend happy birthday aswell .
R. U.
One of my favourite places to go on a night out in Newcastle. Cool place. cool crowd. Friendly staff. Efficient service at the bar.
L. M.
Food was amazing, we had starters, mains and desserts, each course was as good as the last. Friendly staff, good atmosphere. Highly recommend, especially the blood orange cheesecake which was heavenly. The non alcoholic cocktails were refreshing and full of flavour, a great place for a relaxed lunch with great food.
K. S.
Great atmosphere in this place, especially for a Tuesday night. The staff were really friendly, I just think the drinks could have been larger for the price when there is a lot of competition in the area. Would definitely visit again though as the drinks were very nice.
C. S.
Enjoyed a fabulous Prosecco Afternoon Tea recently… lovely vibe and attentive staff, even though it was very busy.. will certainly return!!
J. G.
Was treated to Afternoon Tea by my son on Saturday (early Mother’s Day) really enjoyed it. We sat in a nice sunny spot in the window. We did have to ask for our tea/coffee - think we were forgotten about 🫢 but I was really impressed that a member of staff snuck out (without mention to us) to buy cream for my coffee instead of ‘sorry we don’t have’. Fizz and espresso martinis went down well too.
L. M.
Great atmosphere and wonderful service. Really enjoyed the cocktails that were recommended and food was awesome! Highly recommended!
B. B.
The drinks were good, but the service was fairly poor. We waited around 20 minutes to be asked what we would like, and then it took another 20 minutes to receive the drinks. When they came, the waitress spilled part of the drink all over the table/menu without an apology or any attempt to help clean it up. Since we had no napkins, we had to leave it. Better staff training is needed.
C. P.
We first went in a couple of days ago for drinks. Beautiful premises, relaxing, extremely clean and friendly staff. We went back to eat in the restaurant, was not disappointed, food, ambitious and staff all amazing, we thoroughly enjoyed our food, probably the best we've had in a long time, compliments to the chef. Definitely recommend to others.
S.
Visited this place yesterday with a friend for lunch, the restaurant staff were amazing and the food was lovely. A guy named Rob looked after us and made our experience a very positive one. Thanks Rob, we will definitely be back.
B. B. S. M.
Was in here last night and I’m back again today!
All the staff in here are wonderful, Chris has been exceptional, so friendly and helpful and genuinely invested in helping to enrich your experience in the venue.
I’ve just eaten one of the best meals out I’ve ever had. Being Wheat Intolerant makes dining out a complication, always. However, I’ve just had Gluten Free Fish and Chips, such a treat for me. Cooked to absolute perfection with 100% dedication to my dietary requirements, superb!
Wine is delicious, olives amazing, staff wonderful….food gorgeous, what more can you want? :)
S. J. (.
Affordable price afternoon tea set 😆 Tea was great, sandwiches and pastry were really nice. However, I'm not really like a scone here, it was too crumbly somehow I must say 😕
Overall, was a nice place to hang out, beauty bar, and surely Instagramable 👍🏻✨
C. T.
A lovely experience! Visited the bar for a cheeky lunch cocktail, its pricey but lovely. The large windows can open up to give an alfresco experience. We stayed for lunch which was really nice!! It's ideal for a treat with your friend or a first date place venue. highly recommend!
D. P.
It was absolutely great, very clean, friendly staff and to my surprise, nice and fair prices for their drinks...definitely going back there
J. W.
I'm constantly revisiting this place for dinner and struggle to find a flaw. Fantastic attention to detail, from the atmosphere and aesthetic, down to the glassware and cutelry. This attention doesn't stray away from the food by any means; with consistently beautiful looking dishes that are have been prepared with care. Everything I've eaten is always fantastic, the service is lovely and value is pretty decent considering everything involved.
J. R.
Definitely a very decent and popular joint. It's not really my scene at all, however I've been in enough times on rare drinking trips into town to draw positive conclusions. A good Guinness is poured and occasionally a live solo act (of varying quality) grinds out the tunes. It's not overpowering volume wise though, so don't panic. It also has a pleasant dining room which I've not yet hit. To be fair, it is a pleasant place all round. Don't go if you're frightened to pay the dollars out or be around people who are keen (or pretend to be keen) to do so. If an escape is required, there are several well established drinkers bars mere strides away to bail you out.
R.
Went here for Sunday dinner. Although I've been for drinks many times, this was the first time I've had food. We had 2 courses for £19 and I thought it was really good value. The vegetables on the plate were really well cooked — so often a bit of a disappointment. Maybe could have done with an extra potato. The Yorkshire was epic and the beef tender, it also came with a generous serving of gravy which I always appreciate.
The waitress was very attentive and triple checked my dates beer choice as she was a bit unsure which is always better! Would definitely go back
S. L.
Excellent Sunday roast, with delicious meats, good trimmings, a quality yorkie and ample gravy and sauces. Service was excellent and drink selection is great.
G. S.
Loved it .its not often me and my wife go to a bar and drink cocktails but we did tonight and throughly enjoyed it. Not bad for a couple of 60 plus year old haha
g. c.
The meal was very nice I got the Sunday dinner 3 meats chicken pork beef
D. L.
Stunning Sunday lunch and amazing service. Really enjoyable experience, really recommend.
j. z.
Fantastic experience.
So chilled out, great music, super nice staff and the quality of the afternoon tea was exeptionally good!
Would certainly recommend to everyone!
R.
The bartenders are great. They take the time to make a drink that’s right for you. I loved my fresh rose pedals cocktail. The wine selection is also good. The ambiance is nice & live DJ on Friday nights.
R. C.
Delish Roast Pork & Sticky Toffee Pudding, In a Hip & Modern Brasserie, with a Lovely Cosy Interior. I'll Be Back next time I'm in Newcastle 😋😃
A.
Awesome vibe, super positive and energetic folks, the pub and restaurant both look amazing and now has that incredible Christmas aroma.
I would recomend the rib eye steak with the pepercorn sos, but the others things on the menu are just as good
All in all, you should add it to your visit list as it's worth it
B. S.
Went for Sunday lunch. We both had the pork. Plenty of vegetables and meat. Huge Yorkshire pudding. Quick service but didn't feel rushed.
U. S.
were here for dinner on a busy saturday evening and absolutely enjoyed our time, top service, great food, nice wine selection for newcastle, bit pricey but absolutely worth it for that fancy place
K. S.
All the gin you could ever want! Over 150 types of gin for every taste and favour. We ordered from the gin menu as so much choice but the bar man was incrediabily knowledgeable and could/would have helped us make any sort of drink. Really enjoyed it and the drinks were wonderful.
i. c.
Great place with very knowledgeable bar staff. Good selection of gins and cocktails, reasonable prices too.
Craft beer selection was lacking, but they did have a few on tap, but as an all round venue gets 4.5 stars (rounded to 5)........get some local craft beers to get the extra 0.5 star!
Been here for Sunday lunch 3 years ago and recall it's was great quality too....just not often I go to Newcastle
J. G.
Christmas dinner / lunch: Awesome food, nice staff, cosy restaurant.. Good portions and amazing lunch experience... Highly recommended for relax group Christmas lunch / dinner
r.
I think this was the best Sunday Roast in Newcastle. Great customer service from all the team. Lovely decor inside too!
T. I.
Hipster Newcastle. Great service and delicious food. Oysters are freshest and the haddock with poached egg is divine.
L. R.
Had a meal here just couple weeks ago,Dressed crab it was amazing, lovely atmosphere well worth a visit
B. C.
Been in this bar many times , always a pleasant night with a good selection of drinks and friendly atmosphere.
S. S.
Have to say after my first visit today this place did not disappoint the food was amazing, service faultless and I cant wait to come back on my next visit to Newcastle. Thank you.
W. G.
Great bar with a really nice atmosphere. Perfect place for casual drinks with friends!
E. E.
Imogen and Jaimie was absolutely fantastic at the restaurant, such great service.
J. B.
Brilliant atmosphere and great drinks
D. B.
Decent pub and restaurant. Interior decor is very comfortable and attractive, bar staff are very friendly and welcoming. They have a good selection of craft ales, lager and a healthy choice of spirits. Personal preference would be for them to get Thatchers gold but that's just me.
J. P.
Good drinks selection although only 1 out of 5 hanfpulls was on.
The young DJ spinning 45's was amazing.
Good atmosphere.
A. H.
We had afternoon tea, staff were lovely and the food was lovely
C. R.
Only there for a few beers. Seemed as though fewer cask ales available. On the plus side, good service!!
J. C.
My hubby and I had fillet steak and chips and must say it was amazing, cooked perfectly and very tasty with no fat. Would definitely recommend and return, thank you!
M.
Friendly staff and nice selection of gin and whatnot but the fake flowers at front door probably make you less customers you would hope for.
C. W.
Sensational fillet steak. 10/10. Best I've had in years. Lovely decor, classy.
B. P.
The drinks were great, 'Pleased to meet you' drink really worth trying, I'm not giving 5 stars because after I booked online, I've rang up to check if the kitchen will be still open and I was assured it will be, but when I arrived I was informed that it closed half an hour ago at 9pm. I've booked the table for the next day.
L. F.
The drinks and drink selection is amazing, it's a gin bar but has loads of other options. The bar staff are very knowledgeable and are always willing to offer suggestions, tasting notes and drink advice.
I would also suggest visiting the restaurant which has great food and immaculate service.
M. S.
Friendly staff, and fresh and tasty food. Would definitely return next time i am in Newcastle.
S. A.
Easy going place. An option overlooked. Good looking bar, like the atmosphere and the people. Give it a try. Stopped by for drinks several times.
D. W.
First time visit and the meal was to die for. The staff were courteous and friendly. Could not ask for anything more to make a night.
S.
Only reason I give 3 stars was the food. Food was great. Service not so. After walking in, no staff acknowledged us, so had to make ourselves known. Food arrived and had to ask where our drinks were. When drinks arrived, 1 was clearly not what we asked for. Speaking with manager who went and made it themselves. Food great, service unfortunately lacking!
d. s.
A great place to vist for good service and food plus lovely beer garden 😋 😀
A. H.
Dinner with Family, we were taken out for dinner with our daughter and her partner, we had a absolutely lovely meal and a lovely night, we will definitely be back!
A. L.
Lovely the atmosphere in the peaceful afternoon. Had a chicken, cooked perfectly. Not so impressed by the dessert.
G. W.
Huge range of drinks bat the bar, loads of places to sit both inside and out and a great vibe as always in here. Lots of staff ready and eager to help at the bar, some very skilled mixologists in here. Tables nice and clean well maintained toilets too. Can be a bit of a trek to the loos though depending where you sit.
A. S.
Over in Newcastle to spoil my student son...this place ticked all the boxes for Sunday Lunch. Huge portions, fabulous service and amazing quality. Honestly folks - I don't write too many reviews and had to do one for here.
j. y.
Great place to relax with drink and lovely food. Recommend the hot seafood soup. So tasty
S. M.
Best Sunday lunch in town 🤗 staff were great service spot great job guys will defo be back 👍
S. A.
Love this place, our favourite in Newcastle. Staff go out of their way for you. Even under covid regs we were trade to feel safe and comfortable. Staff were very attentive checking on whether we wanted another drink. Such a vast array of drinks on offer. Great atmosphere and same as before covid. Cannot fault at all and hopefully will be visiting regularly for a long time to come. Great place Great Staff Great ambience! Oh and not at all expensive.
K. T.
BEST Sunday lunch, I’ve ever had!
P. E.
Popped in for dinner. Good range of beer and the food was good. Service excellent
L. W.

S. H.
No non alcoholic wine but had non alcoholic lage Nice atmosphere.

We were sceptical before entering but what a lovely venue! Lovely staff, nice little outdoor area with private booths x
J. R.
Good variety of drinks staff work well to keep queues down to the minimum
J. W.
Enjoyed a few drinks as I have before in the past
I. W.
Brilliant, can't fault the place. Great tunes and beer.
J. M.
Great service, great venue, great food... just the ticket!!!
D. S.
Reasonable price for time of year.Generous portions all nicely cooked service a bit slow but didn't mind that as the surroundings are pleasant to sit in.Would highly recommend it.⁶
A. V.
Lovely afternoon tea with a bottle of processco. Amazing venue lovely staff great food definitely do again
G. H.
Lovely cocktails made by the pros! Great location with lots of other trendy bara in the area. Pleased to Meet You seems to be open later than surrounding bars so a great stop off fir last rounds.
S.
Excellent Sunday Lunch
Been back twice more for Sunday lunch and each time the food has been excellent, meat cooked pink just as I like it but they do offer medium to well if you prefer with lots of fresh vegetables and great Yorkshire puddings. Just what you want from a Sunday roast - will be back soon
G. J.
What a lovely experience today from start to finish. We were greeted pleasantly by the doorman and the lovely young man on reception. We were seated at a window table in this lovely building, it was very busy but we felt perfectly safe and comfortable and were suitably distanced. This obviously very popular venue had great atmosphere and ambience.
We were booked for a Wowcher afternoon tea with prosecco which certainly didn't disappoint in taste or value. Our waiter Tom was excellent, nothing was too much trouble for him, an asset to himself and Pleased to Meet You.
We will certainly be visiting again.
C. H.
Great vibes, great music and great drinks. Came here with a friend and would definitely go again!
J. N.
Some of the nicest cocktails I've ever had!
T. M.
Afternoon drinks. Relaxed atmosphere. Cocktails were OK, 1st 3 choices were unavailable.
G. g.
Went here for food and I have to say I was not disappointed at all, the roast beef was exceptional with all fresh veg and homemade Yorkshire pudding. Outside dining didn't taint it for me as the place has took inside outside and with heaters was cosy too. The staff were remarkable and very attentive but not overbearing. I will go back
E. C.
Stars off for being super expensive and the service being terrible. The drinks themselves were divine but absolutely tiny for what we paid. London prices in a northern bar? Never goes down well for me. We waited 25 mins to get our drinks. Probs won't be returning tbh
L. C.
Canny place, expensive though.
Good dj and old style music.loved it
A. S.
Fairly nice bar, limited seating but good range of drinks and cocktails, if a bit pricey.
G. G.
Food good overall, but ordered my steak rare and it was well overdone. Poor selection of real ales. Service good, but the charge already included on the bill. That's a thing now, unfortunately.
S. F.
Went today had lamb dinner it was beautiful also had sticky toffee pudding amazing service excellent we will be back
R. H.
We had Christmas Dinner here, the staff were grand, the food was great and all served in good time. Top place to eat, drink and be merry.
M. B.

Canny place. Sat out the back. Served quick, Guinness was OK but not many poured so a few bubbles on the top but few pints in it was fine. Food was good, the toilets are downstairs so a bit of a trek. All in all a canny afternoon sitting outside due to covid.
A. C.
UPDATED as last one 3 yrs ago.
Sadly don't serve gluten free beer ( missing out there) and guy in our party alternatives of Smirnoff ICE or WKD etc not sold either. So had to move on without staying.
Looked OK. Will review when I stay next time.
A. B.
Absolutely fabulous tea ...service was brilliant. Roy looked after us amazingly....a big thank you from myself and family ....x
D. M.
This is my favourite place in the toon for Sunday lunch. Simply because it is the best. The food is excellent. The staff are warm and welcoming. You can get a Sunday lunch in a 100 other places but not like this. The meats are the best. The vegetables are fresh and vibrant, gravy is luxurious and full of flavour. The Yorkshire puddings are the best I've had that I've not made myself.
You may think it's a bit more than you normally pay but it is worth every penny.
I've been 5 times and I've never received less than first class food and service.
m. h.
Great atmosphere, very friendly staff. The drinks are reasonably priced and the food was beautiful
M. S. H.
Cocktails were delicious but service wasn't great. Maybe it was getting back to normality after covid but waiting on service for 45 minutes for drinks is poor. Blaming the wait on a big cocktail order is also double poor.
S. F.
Lovely staff, especially Conor, who was my waiter. Very accommodating and attentive. Food was quite good if somewhat bland. Nothing that the salt and pepper grinder supplied couldn’t rectify though. Oysters were wonderful and fresh and chef even threw in a few complimentary ones. Much appreciated! The cocktails were inventive and original (see “ Black Berry Had A Child”)! Discovered this cocktails was created by none other that my waiter, Conor. Really impressed. Definitely will plan to revisit this restaurant.
M. L.
Gorgeous place! Food was great and the setting very cute lovely staff. Overall very good. Would definitely go back.
c. h.
Tucked down a side street in the centre of Newcastle, very nice
L. M.
Went because I purchased a wowcher. Overall, the food was average. For starters, I wouldn’t advise getting an oyster; you only get one however the soup of the day was really nice. Steak for mains was really nice especially getting it pink. Wouldn’t advice getting the smashed brownie for desert; there was hardly anything to it. However the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Also the cocktails are really nice.
N. B.
Really like it in here, it's a popular spot and so often busy, they have a great selection of cocktails and focus on gins. Only had food once when I've visited and enjoyed it. Great place to go in newcastle that's a little bit hidden away from the main street
V. C.
I've been here for quiet Sunday lunch and Saturday night drinking. This place just delivers the right mix of busy and chilled when you'd expect it. The prices are well matched with similar bars in the area and the staff are welcoming and helpful. We had a minor issue with a glass of wine and it was dealt with efficiency and quickly which is always appreciated. Would come back happily day or night
W. W.
Normally visit on a night out for drinks but recently made reservations for Sunday dinner to try out the food. I went for the chicken which was very tasty, the rest of the plate was excellent - stuffing was amazing! Only downside on our visit was the wait, easily 30+mins for the food to come out however as the service and quality was so good not enough to knock off a star!
C. S.
Lovely pub. Excellent cocktail and pint of Anarchy Blonde Star, and we had no worries social distancing - the pub was quiet and in any case, we sat out the back in a shed! Quirky and very nice.
A. E.
Mixed ages but drinks a tad expensive...good music tho
H. M.
Great drinks. Good ambience. Great servers too
L. M.
Great atmosphere, amazing food and lovely service. The waitress was really nice and attentive, and all the food was so tasty! Nice place to come for a treat.
v. R.
Excellent Sunday lunch, enormous Yorkshire pudding but beautifully made. Hip location
S. K.
Thought it was very good, exceptional service and the food was so good not better than average very good will be back, everything was good atmosphere, outside seating, staff, service, drinks and food, great place to eat or drink, very happy to go back and will be doing.
c. t.
Lovely pub and restaurant just off Grey Street. Sunday dinners are lovely and the plebs is always busy, so always a good sign.
P. M.
Great atmosphere with great food. Higher end prices but well worth it.
A. B.
Really superb here, and just look how smart the toilets are(!) - top stuff guys!
M. W.
Visited December - Work Christmas night out. Great setting/feel to the restaurant as we arrived. Large group seated and served with ease. I had the beef with gnocchi and it was the best gnocchi I have ever tasted. It seemed we were missing a glass of wine.. but a colleague had actually took it for herself even though she was aware she had not pre-ordered any. Didn't put a damper on proceedings!
P. A.
My wife and I recently enjoyed the fixed price 2 course lunch menu that is served up to 7 pm. Great value for money. I also enjoyed a cool well kept beer. A good venue with pleasant and friendly staff.
R. L.
Met pre theatre for a meal with friends, staff were all exceptional, very friendly and the food was exceptional. We will definitely be going back.
D. M.
A pretty big selection of beer on, but none of it was that good on this visit. I'd be willing to give it another go on the assumption that the beers change frequently
K. A.
Great food .recommend the t bone steak
L. R.
Lovely atmosphere. Nice staff.
F.
Environment was really cool, cocktails were good, but the staff were great. My boyfriend and I went in on the Sunday night and were recommended another to visit after here, but we didn't make it there that night.
So, we went back to ask for the name of the Venue, and while we were sat with our drinks, the bartender who'd mentioned the other bar popped over to ask if we'd made it there.
The fact that he'd remembered us made us feel appreciated.
S. W.
Tempted by their early evening menu deal, I visited this place to have a pleasant meal after a busy day. And it was a great choice! The pickled pears with goats cheese cream were very refreshing. The main rump steak well seasoned and made to my liking and it came with a delicious red wine sauce, a side salad and chunky chips. Dessert was excellent, I had their gin cheesecake, it was smooth, velvety and almost balmy, really nice finish to my meal. And all this below £20. Besides, customer service was excellent. If I’m in Newcastle again this is my to-go place for sure.
P. S.
I actually quite liked this place. It's located a little down the bank from the Theatre Royal (and down a side street: High Bridge). They offer a generous selection of ales. They were doing a roaring trade with their cocktails. Very smart looking place. They also do food, but I didn't check the menu or eat on this occasion.
L. F.
Really friendly staff, lovely food and great drink selection. Also very handy location for bus and metro links.
P. C.
Staff were amazing! Great atmosphere! 👍
L. B.
One of my favourite places to go in the city centre, huge selection of gins, local beers and cocktails. Try the Sunday lunch. Massive fresh Yorkshire pud, roast pots and veg to accompany the perfectly cooked beef. And the gravy Oh the gravy. Perfect. Staff are great too.
C. B.
On balance, my favourite bar in town.
Always has enough staff, music always great, good selection of drinks and really nice set of different areas.

Excellent food (I had fish and chips and sticky toffee pudding) and drinks (many delicious gin and tonic options, plus a nice selection of ales and ciders). Servers have always been friendly and helpful. And love the atmosphere--clean, cozy, and relaxing. Highly recommend it for anyone visiting Newcastle!
D. H.
Had afternoon tea today. Not the best value for money. Sandwiches are small bread rolls with filling (if that's what you can call it) almost non existent. Very disappointing as it was bought as a birthday present.
G. H.
This is a really lovely cocktail bar and restaurant just off the beaten track. No one hear looked or sounded like tourists, other than us. The food was very good, and the cocktails would not have been out of place back home in London. The music was nice and lovely in the bar, and more suited to conversation in the restaurant. If I find myself in Newcastle again, I'll definitely be heading here.
Watch out in the ladies, one of the set of traps is mislabeled hot and cold.
P. M.
First time for myself and grown up family - everybody agreed that the food and service were first class- would definitely go there again
H. M.
I love this bar. Friendly staff, great decor, a fab range of beers (especially keg) and great tunes on the weekend. The restaurant is a gem too. The Sunday lunches are fantastic. A most-visit when drinking in Newcastle.
D. D.
Great place, but let down by service. Bar staff very friendly but need more of them, lot of people, not just us, waiting for drinks.
T. L.
Shared an afternoon cream tea with my fiancée. Beautiful presented and just right for Two. Great gin bar offering an endless choice of flavours.
H. W.
Went for sunday lunch and was very happy with the meal and service
D. A.
Really nice surroundings, warm and friendly atmosphere and food was very good. Nice simple choices of food to suit most people, all really well prepared and full of flavour. Very good central location for a night out in Newcastle.
H. S.
Good location near to the Theatre and independent cinema. Small but not claustrophobic.
Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Menu is properly Spainish. The quality of food was excellent.
Definitely visit again
R. F.
Great service and amazingly good food. My only crit would be less salt in the crab the salmon has enough for both. But it just maybe I don't use much and my palate may be sensitive.
As a gin drinker of 50 years your selection was spectacular.
Keep it up
L. D.
Really friendly and helpful staff, a great food menu that is reasonably priced. The quality of the food was really good too. Drinks wise - lots of choice on the beers - we spent a while tasting different ones!
D. M.
We really enjoyed our prosecco afternoon tea today, we are all picky with our sandwiches so asked if we could have plain ham for the 3 of us, staff were great , said it was no problem at all, unlike other places we,ve been where the reply is sorry , they are all ready made up. There was a good selection of cakes, all delicious, the scones we couldnt eat so were packed to bring away with us. Very helpful and attentive staff, lovely venue, we will definitely be having a return visit.
G. E.
Good service and lovely tasty food
D. H.
Great service. Almost good food. £200 table - disappointed to send back venison that was cold in the middle, to have a piece of leather sent back to me.
Normally have my steak blue; I want a good vet to get it back on its feet - but the thing has to be hot in the middle. Cooking the * * * * off it, presumably to teach me a lesson, was childish.
That said, the rest of the table enjoyed their various meals - from game through fish.
A. D.
Visited PTMY several times now, for both drinks only, and sit down meals in the restaurant. I can't fault either.
The food is always tasty and well presented, and the set menu is great value for the excellent food delivered.
Good selection of beers, wines and delicious cocktails.
S. T.
Canny pub with good selection of drinks and knoweldgable staff
P. U.
Delicious Sunday lunch and a pint of Northern Monk. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Thanks
A.
The veneer paints a pretty picture, but I questioned the food going into my mouth, like it smelt wrong. Underwhelming for the price point. The service was 5/5 (amazing waitress), presentation 4/5, but unfortunately they were let down by the actual cooking, at least today.
K. C.
Lovely Gin bar but it is always packed! Great cocktail menu and there is never a wait at the bar, even with the new extension I just wish it was easier to get a table! Great atmosphere though and the food looks really good (although I've not eaten there myself)
d. w.
My wife and I popped in Friday nite 31/7. Service was good and stayed for 2 rounds of drinks which were served promptly. However when the bill arrived it had 10% service charge which is not right as you have no option but to use table service. Come on PTMY sort this out.
G. C.
Pleasant dining experience.
Good value lunch offers.
Helpful staff.
A. A.
Friendly staff, great atmosphere, and a wide selection of drinks! If you like gin tonics as much as I do, I recommend coming here! If not, too bad, but you should still visit it for the beers they have!
D. M.
Was in Newcastle today. Looked for a relaxing place to sit and reflect on my tour over a couple of glasses of wine. This place exceeded all expectation. Staff all so polite, pleasant and friendly. I did not eat, but the food coming to the tables looked sumptuous. There is ano elegant and relaxed restaurant just of the classy bar area. I shall return!
C. R.
Huge bar, specialising in gin and gin cocktails, though there is a fully stocked bar if gin's not your thing. Restaurant area too. Bar food was okay and cocktails were nice. Quiet during the day and felt a little souless. Worth visiting if you're a fan of gin, expect it gets lovely at night.
J. P. E.
Went to the bar, so this review doesn't apply to the restaurant. The DJ they had in (on a friday) was playing great music and the atmosphere in the place was good, busy but not crowded. Very pleased with the place, will come again.
J. S.
Amazing food and a good selection of beers
N. M.
Love the location just off the beaten path down a cobble stone alleyway. We were told they have one of the best fish and chips in Newcastle. We weren't disappointed. Make sure you try the triple baked chips.
J. F.
A few of us had a work meeting in Newcastle, but flights from London left us with a few hours to spend around lunchtime. So, we ended up at this pub by accident. It turned out to be great with a great selection of gins and beers and very good food. The only negative would be that the vegetarian seeming food had bacon in it. But, this was our fault and not the establishments.
D. I.
Had Sunday lunch here yesterday and wow best one in a long time by a mile. Definitely 5 star 🌟 thanks
J. B.
Really impressed with PTMY tonight. I was able to book and outdoor table and felt very safe. Staff were fantastic, service was great, drinks were lovely, just generally really impressed!
P. F.
Love this place, always visit when in Newcastle. My wife loves the selection of Gins and there is an extensive range of lagers & beers, something to suit everyone. Never eaten in here but the food does look good.
S. I.
Great cocktail bar and they are STRONG!
Has a mixed crowd and everyone is friendly.
M. H.
Really cool gin bar but also has a really good selection of all drinks. Popular and always has good atmosphere. Dj there on a number of nights including weekend. Good for groups, dates or just a chilled pint in the afternoon. Restaurant attached next door.
R. M.
It's a very nice bar, slightly more upmarket. Very good beer selection, but quite pricey. Not a regular haunt for me, but I do like it.
D. P.
Real nice bar area. Meal was nice but felt it was way over priced for what I got meal was more like a starter. I got saute beef £16.95 and it came with 4 small pieces of beef a spoon on potato and a bit cabbage. Tasty but not enough for your money.
K. F.
Gorgeous bar, great location just off grey street. If you're into gin they have a great selection. I'm more of a whiskey person but they catered very well to my tastes too.
B. t. B.
Lots of choice fab gin selection, good food
P. W.
Good atmosphere, brilliant food, cocktails weren't up to much
B. B.
Went here for a Sunday roast and couldn't fault it. Great food, friendly service and a lovely environment.
L. S.
One of the best bars in Newcastle. An enormous range of gins and the staff know exactly what to serve them with. Awesome cocktails too, especially during happy hour when they're two for £10.
s. W.
Quick service nice friendly cool place
T. E.
Great vibe, gin selection and queer friendly. Would definitely be back again
f. c.
It was alright in here really good choice of guns but the speakers sounded like they were blown and had to move as far away as possible as they were painful to listen too.
C. N.
Great place for a craft beer, and non-craft, or a cocktail. Didn't eat so can't speak to the actual food but it looked good.
Nice atmosphere, friendly and helpful stuff, clean bathrooms. Overall a very nice place.
S. W.
Was recommended this place by a work colleague as a place to enjoy good food with good friends. Four of us partook in a meal Saturday early evening. What a vibrant, classy establishment. From entering the place, to being seated, to ordering, eating, paying - everything relaxed and was top notch. Loved every moment. The food was outstanding. A great memory for us all. Thanks PTMY!!!
D. H.
My new favourite place to drink in Newcastle. Great selection of beers, lovely interior, nice staff, nice toilets. A mixture of seating, well thought out and a stones throw from Grey Street.
s. k.
Lamb was really good, liked the peas. Cranberry chutney would have been nicer.
I. B.
Nice cosy bar with a very good selection of draught and spirit's, good atmosphere
A. V.
Wasn't really good experience. Starters were just fine and main course (mushroom risotto) was expensive and looked like dog food, the taste was not marvelous either. We also asked for water three times before we got it and the same happened again when we asked for the bill.
K. H.
Good Atmosphere, busy city centre bar. Drink prices a touch expensive I thought, but probably par for the course as it's a while since I went drinking in Newcastle. Nevertheless, a decent establishment.
P. R.
Just discovered there is now an actual restaurant here. I've always enjoyed the food here but with it being a popular bar it's not always practical to sit down for a meal. Apparently the restaurant opened in December 2015! So glad I found out and that the food is still amazing and the staff are great too. Highly recommend this place.
G. C.
Always make a visit to PTMY when I'm in town. Best gin cocktails for miles. Recently ate in the restaurant for the first time & wasn't disappointed. Great, creative vegetarian selections
K. K.
Fabulous food and great service. Fabulous selection of beers with a knowledgeable person behind the bar. We had the sharing board and the a Sunday Roast. Beautiful.
S. D.
Flawless food and an enjoyable casual and comfortable ambience. Didn't enjoy the service as much though.
L. E.
I love this place. Whether you like cocktails, gin or real ale there is something there for you! Personally I'm a fan of Thornbridge Jaipur which is usually available. I've had a couple of very nice lunches here too.
S. B.
Lovely food. Always have fish and chips, it's huge! I would however love to have a veggie Sunday lunch but it's not on the menu. The Yorkshire puds are massive and the plate is filled with meat etc. why do veggies/ pescatarians lose out?
I ordered the cheese soufle and at the same price as the Sunday lunch was disappointed when it came out as a starter portion (in my opinion) with a side of veg.
Still hungry I ordered the cheese and a dessert. I had a starter also!
The service was average and the bill had £40 extra added on for 1 more soufle and 2 very expensive glasses of wine which we never had! Check your bill!
J. N.
The old Turks Head now a swanky gin bar, other drinks are available. Can be a bit of a squeeze if you go at peak times coz it's not the biggest bar. Plenty of choice world beer's, whisky, fizz and gin, plenty of staff who are polite and professional, drinks can be a bit expensive and plan ahead for a visit to the toilet coz it's down some steep stairs, apart from that it's worth a visit I'd recommend it.
P. M.
Lovely restaurant, excellent service and really delicious food!
M. D.
It’s a gin place following the clever business model where you buy 50 or so artisanal gins from around the world and stick them on shelves behind the bar for use as drinkable ornaments. No-one ever orders them and now you can pour Tanqueray and Fever Trees all night at twice the price they’re worth because you are officially a gin bar - look at all your bottles! In the unlikely event someone wants something else you just tell them about all the gins on the shelf until they die of thirst or leave.
If you wade through the blue-jean-suit-jacket combos, drunk divorcees, and miserable ingrates who hold up a 4 deep queue after finding their beer is a quarter of a centimetre below the pint line, you’ll find they do cocktails here too.
My favorite cocktails they offer are:
Foreplay on the Beach: similar to its famous cousin, but made with dried apricots
Whiskey Fairy Liquid: an unprecedented blend of Bells whiskey and absinthe.
Iron Filings Julep: Sugar and mint never tasted this fortified!
Eleven-Up: Sprite and Prosecco over liquid nitrogen
Blood Temple Alexander: is that a cursed monkey paw garnish?
It’s also well worth checking out the secret bar downstairs. It’s hidden near the toilets. They do the weirder stuff down here, like a cocktail actually served in a folded 10 pound note, or the Breakfast Tonsil Warbler which involved molten jam.
R. K.
Always very friendly staff, happy to help and advise on food/drinks choices. A classic go-to if I’m in town on an evening if I want somewhere a bit less rowdy but with a great atmosphere
K. C.
Booked in for afternoon tea with a large group and arrived to find we were sat on two tables, we asked if we could all be sat together and staff kindly set us up in another room to accommodate. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Thankyou!
V. B.
Lovely food lovely décor and good service, thank you so much to the manager for fitting us in
R. G.
Great selection of real ales & cocktails. Staff really friendly, although the boss was a little harsh in front of the customers after someone had to wait 30 seconds. Would return & recommend!
A. S.
Nice bar but it's a bit overpriced and can take an age to get served. Folk often reserve tables in advance to avoid having to stand. Definitely worth a look in if you're out and about in Newcastle city centre.
K. G.
Great bar. Often in with large group always get excellent service from Chris ( aka fudge I think he's called) very polite professional happy smiling guy great staff member hard working asset to the team 👍🏻
J. G.
Loved this place before lockdown. Loads of thought gone in to make the most of the restrictions with a cute little outside area. Love it more
J. G.
Outstanding cocktail bar, probably Newcastle's finest, due to its quirky location, industrial feeling beer garden (step out the back and you're in Brooklyn) and of course it's interior.
Don't expect a shakers service, however the staff have an excellent understanding of gins (It's a gin bar, duh) and contemporary classics, the bar supervisor helped pick out out a creamy bourbon for me when I ordered an Old Fashioned, and brought the drinks to our table after prep they even have an happy hour 6-7, with the choice and the price, you'll find the favourites and their own creations, you can't go wrong!
In the Bar, ask for an Aviation, you're welcome.
In the Viceroy, ask for Henry's Treasure, you're welcome.
A. Y.
Nice spot, excellent range of beers. Bit pricey but it is in the centre of town so to be expected
H. W.
Buzy, friendly and a great atmosphere
A. M.
Good atmosphere, good music, trendy and a great range of cocktails. Visited on a Thursday and a little quiet but undrstandable still a good atmosphere! Great espresso cocktail :-)
M. R.
Great music. Danced the night away
A. N.
I find the bar a bit too busy for my liking, but I tried the food there for the first time recently and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and choice on the menu. Would definitely recommend if you haven't tried it.
A. S.
Good atmosphere, and good selection of drinks, even though I'm happy with a pint if Fosters lager. Good DJ on some nights, playing decent tracks.
A. F.
We had a few lovely cocktails here at the weekend. Friendly staff and good selection of drinks.
Amy
C. R.
Great atmosphere day and evening. Cant wait to go back
S. O.
Primarily a restaurant but with a bar area with a great atmosphere. Very friendly and efficient staff. Good selection of real ales in the bar and the restaurant offers a good and varied menue with fabulous service.
E. S.
Great service, friendly staff but food could have been better. Starters and drinks were good but main course was alright as meat was slightly undercooked and fish was slightly overcooked.
J. S.
Good atmosphere...great cocktails
T. M. M.
Fancy cocktails, nice atmosphere
M. E.
Really nice place but you can get the same lower level gin and tonics for half the price at spoons.
I'd defiantly frequent this place if I wasn't worried about money, the other gins and the range of tonic waters made my mouth water.
N. B.
nice bar Quick service
J. G.
Nice pub. Gives a secluded feeling. Lots of nooks and crannies to have a great like with friends. Really good selection of craft beers and ales
T. A.
Love it here for cocktails and atmosphere no matter what age it's a brill place to socialise. The deco is trendy and smart with a great location.
J. W.
Perfect lunch and service, busy, lovely to expirence, great to be alive again 😃
E. B.
Called into this restaurant this afternoon with my hubby .The place itself is very appealing and trendy. The afternoon lunch two course meal was superb. And the young chap who served us was a credit to the company .Can't wait to go back .
s. W.
Elegant bar and restaurant in City Centre. Luke, the waiter was charming, friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Food was delicious, will definitely visit again and recommend to everyone.
K. O.
Had a great party last night.Really nice room and the background music was just right. It was beautiful to see Fiona so relaxed. Hopefully see many more parties at Pleased to Meet You Newcastle
A. H.
Great ambience, comfortable chairs the guy who served us knew his drinks & recommended Green Spot Irish Whisky which was delicious
r. m.
Went here for my birthday and had food from the lunch menu, choice was limited but good price and meal was lovely. Staff were attentive and the restaurant has a good atmosphere.
P. F.
This is post covid19, the staff were fantastic, the covid restrictions were as expected. We just stopped for a few drinks and will definitely be back. Thanks for a great stop.
D. S.
Nice bar. Been many times and service is always fantastic. Really good selection of beer and wines as well as good food
A. A.
It's ok but you get charged for a meal if one of your party doesn't turn up as it's prepared to soon and not worth £42 for two people.
M. T.
Beautiful. The drinks are amazing and there's an amazing selection of mixers and garnishes for the gin selection. Food is gorgeous and very reasonably priced.
S. P.
Only had beers, but they had a great selection of posh domestic and continental beers at posh prices. Nice atmosphere and some of the cleanest pub toilets I've ever seen!
S. B.
This place was ahead of the curve when it comes to gin bars. That said, the beer list is always excellent as well. It does get very busy at times, bit this is to be expected.
E. H.
One of my favourite bars in the toon, great selection of beers nice staff and an excellent venue. Highly recommended
B. R.
Great service, clean and the food and the gin menus are great.
Loved it and so did our guests!
L. T.
Good range of beers, relaxed atmosphere, good staff. Worth a visit. Food looked decent too.
L. D.
Usually packed so can take a while to get served, but the cocktails are pretty good and the gins and tonics on offer mean endless combinations for a fun but expensive night out!
D. D.
Trendy upmarket bar only draw back is getting served. It takes far to long. Other than that good atmosphere and a great looking bar
D. R.
Excellent food, great decor, good staff. Great place for a good value but sophisticated drink and food. Perfect place, and really close if your going to the theatre royal
S. A.
Beautiful food, good service. Would recommend the restaurant rather than eating in the bar. Much more chilled out
S. D.
Been there this evening for my friend's wedding and it's a beautiful place. The food is lovely and the atmosphere is amazing. I'll definitely be back
P. J.
Gin n beer.. A very nice place too visit but n i say but.. Time it wrong n you may order a pint of real ale that has been on too long n may have turned n gone passed its best (this mainly happens on the cask ales)... On the other hand the Gin selection is amazing
K. L.
They did what they could under very difficult circumstances RE distancing etc...staff were so helpful and gregarious it made being out in the cold almost a pleasure
A. I.
All my complements go to the floor staff especially zara serving food and lovely lad on the bar but looking forward to pigeon & beetroot salad no pigeon on starter main was delicious (risotto) perfect and pud yum stars definitely go to floor staff thank you for your service xxx
C. T. H.
This has to one of the finest places for food and drink in the geordie capital especially for real and cask ale plus gin, excellent friendly knowledgeable staff come to the fore. Go, enjoy and like me return time and time again.
P. M.
Great drink selection
M. C.
Great gins, staff very polite, I mentioned there was a very slight crack in my glass, only saw it after I had finished, just too let them know, and they immediately gave me another free drink, great service,
J. T.
Lovely setting. Very attentive service, great value and tasty cocktails.
D. H.
Good place to catch up with friends, lots of staff behind bar so even when really busy you can get served ok. Located just off Grey Street so handy for theatre and other pubs and restaurants.
F. H.
Large bar with a wide range of beer but limit cider. Sells cocktails and whatnot and is good for groups of people just looking for a nice social drink
d. j.
Just drinks
Very pleasant place
a. w.
We visited on a Saturday lunchtime and were very impressed with the quality of the food.
As good as much more expensive restaurants in Newcastle.

J. B.
Nice bar. Staff were busy so was slow to get served. Drinks were good (gin).
R. W.
Great food, choice tunes and a good vibe. We stumbled across it just walking about - turned out to be a good find! Order the venison - delish!
S. P.
Friendly staff, felt safe and comfortable. Nice atmosphere and the food was fantastic.
S. H.
Great food at a good price
J. R.
Although the crystal effect glasses are very nice, I'm sure; I'd prefer my gin in a large glass with hods of ice. More difficult to store, I know, but come on, you're trading on a ginputation; oh, and no Adnams Copper House, which I found odd.
k. l.
Great beer selection, friendly staff, and genuinely one of the best fish and chips I've ever had!
L. f.
A wonderful bar and excellent service.
S. L.

One of the best cocktail bars . The menu is good and fairly priced
