Very pleasantly surprised for Newcastle. Having lived abroad for over 10 years, I’m little out of touch with the dining scene in Newcastle and don’t have high expectations of restaurants here. However, I have to say that this and it’s sister restaurants are good and worthy of visits. Food is good (many of the meats are halal for those interested), attentive service and value for money. Well done and I will be back.

A great experience only slightly let down by missing out on the sausage twice due to the size of our party. Salad was phenomenal, the various meats all tender and cooked to perfection. The sausage, when I finally got it, was worth the wait.

Prices have sky rocketed. Now I'd say it is over priced however when it was £16/£21 lunch then evening that was well worth it. This place has an amazing salad bar which is suitable for veggies. Vegetarians have a discounted price also as they aren't having the meat selections. The meats are cooked to your liking and you can really tell the difference between different cuts of meat, (flavours , textures) service is great in the jesmond branch. I have also been to the Newcastle branch aswell. Best salad going. Cocktails are amazing very nicely done. Recommend the rio special

Absolutely fantastic! Meat is brought around constantly and you just flip the little card around when you've had enough. One of the waitresses stayed specifically near our table so we always had someone to ask for drinks etc... I'm vegetarian and the salad bar was incredible! Rice, potatoes, all kinds of salad, sushi, you name it! Really recommend for everyone!

First time visiting here with friends. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and great service too. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Not too overbearing like a lot of places. The salad bar had a really good and unique selection. For our meats we received Sirlon, Rump, Lamb and Chicken thighs. The meats were cooked to perfection. You do get full quickly but every bit is enjoyable. If you’ve never been here, it’s all you can eat. You have a card with a green side and red side. When you wish to receive more meat (they come to your table and cut it for you) you simply leave the card on green. If you are still eating or don’t wish to have anything until you’re ready then you flip the card to red. A very simple yet effecting method. They took extra care to offer us halal cuts of meat only (we enquired in advance for this). They took their time to write out what section from the bar wasn’t halal which was a really good gesture. Only small negative was the coke was quite expensive at £3, however the location does warrant such prices so be prepared. Will definitely be back again.

Great place. Nothing like this in the area since Viva Brazil on Grey St. closed down a while ago. Fixtures and fittings are spot on, decor is done to a very high standard. Staff are fantastic and very attentive. The meat is brought around frequently and you're never left waiting. It's all fantastic quality too, bursting with flavour and cooked to perfection. A little pricey, but not too bad. Especially considering you can eat as much as you like and the quality of the food. Definitely ate too much but worth it.

Great place to attend with family and friends. Salad bar with varieties of salads and cheese. I don't eat beef and pork and they had options of chicken and lamb. I had to constantly remind them to bring in food as they were mostly beef and pork.

Went here for the first time today, really enjoyed it - friendly service, lovely inside and food was spot on. I particularly liked the spicy chicken and the sirloin. You can basically order as much salad as you like, there's loads of different options to mix and match and then servers keep bringing various cuts of meats carved to your liking as long as you keep the green service indicator showing. Washed down with a nice pint - will be back 🤤

I went to the one in Middlesbrough before and now finally been to Newcastle branch. Today is Tuesday and I was there last Sunday 03/10/2021 believe it or not still can taste that Picanha Brazilian steak. All aside lets rate the place: 1- Staff ***** very friendly funny helpful understanding 2- Salad Bar ***** very nice well stocked various salad options 3- Meat ******* fresh and tasty. meat melts in your mouth 4- Drinks ***** various options and this time I tried guarana.. LOVED IT 5- Overall ***** To keep this short and clear. I would definitely recommend people to try it and for me this wasn't my first time in Rio and won't be the last one. Besides I cannot wait for the Newcastle quayside branch to open will be there first to try it....

Truly an amazing place to visit for any occasion. Gorgeous decor with an amazing and friendly staff who tried to help you in any way they can. The food was incredible was incredible for the price and flavours were amazing. It did have authentic starters and desserts originally from Brazil. There is also parking at the back of the premises but there is very limited parking so you need to be planning in advance if your traveling with a vehicle.

I really enjoyed my visit to Rio Steakhouse. My first impressions were the decor of the restaurant is high-end style, found the staff friendly, and explained how the meat is served via a huge sword. The salad bar was fresh, and the bread was unbelievably delicious. I would recommend the belly pork and the gammon with pineapple. The only slight issue was the parking, very some car park and the surrounding streets is permit only.

Upon arriving we were greeted with a very warm welcome, a diligent and caring server explained the process and from there it just got better and better . The salad bar was UNREAL , and the waitress told her that her favorite cut was the pork belly . I can see why it was so tasty. The quality of the meat was of a high quality and the marinades were spectacular . I'd definitely rate more than 5 stars if it was possible . #great food #excellent service . We've been to several of these types of restaurants over the years but the 1st time in the UK. They have done a lovely job of the decor and layout creating a nice relaxed atmosphere. The food kept coming and the server's and waitresses was really friendly, we'll be going back and taking friends in the future. Would be nice to have some seafood options from the grill.

Excellent place excellent quality! Just make sure to arrive hungry cause the meat quantities are enormous. As long as you keep eating the waiters won't stop serving. We also liked the buffet with all the brasilian delicatessen. Definitely worth visiting

We went for a 5pm sitting as a group of 11 for a birthday celebration. I cannot fault the place at all. The salad buffet was great quality, the meats were all beautiful and cooked to perfection to your preference, the service was perfectly timed, the staff were all lovely we all had a thoroughly enjoyable time. They do add a service charge to the bill, which can be removed if required but it worked out to be less than £4 per person and was well worth the money. We shall return, thank you!

We attended as a couple for a birthday meal on the evening of Sunday 29th August. We had a fantastic time, the service received was second to none and the food was out of this world- flavoured, cooked, cut and served to perfection... melt in the mouth meats 🤤 The table was situated in a lovely section of the venue and was presented with a very thoughtful birthday message and we received 2 glasses of complimentary prosecco at the beginning of the evening and at the end of the sitting a free dessert while the servers (and the tables around us 😄) sang happy birthday which capped of an excellent evening. It's easy to see why Rio is so popular, from the moment you walk in the staff are professional, accommodating and friendly. It's modern and cool but in that effortless way that is hard to achieve. I love Brazilian steak houses, I've been to more than my fair share but Rio has set a new level that will be hard for anyone else to match going forward. The food was cooked to perfection, full of flavours and with a huge amount of variety. With covid I wondered how they would operate the salad buffet but they have a great system that essentially gives you the same thing without you having to go up and down yourself. Next time I'm in the area I will definitely be going back! If you love these types of restaurants you owe it yourself to get here at some point.

Slightly annoying that you can ask for halal meat in advance and they can cater for that but then don't provide an option for sauces to go with the steak. Wasn't happy about being told we could have the salad or mayonnaise as an option. The meat was great quality and cooked to a good standard but without any sauce, the meal wasn't great. Think there definitely needs to be an option for peppercorn sauce being available for those that do not want alcohol in it.

Amazing! We went to Rios on Father’s Day. I had prebooked a few weeks in advance and had asked for 2 high chairs. When we arrived we were shown straight to our table with the 2 high chairs waiting. They also provided us with 2 small childrens plates and forks. As a family with 2 small children, small details really count and help! The food was outstanding. We were really impressed with how fresh everything was and how everything was replenished all the time in the salad bar. Nothing was too much hassle for our waitress and she even gave us the name of the Brazilian cheese bread and where to buy it, it was the BEST! We will be back!

Tried a couple of these sample restaurants and this one is clear leader every item on salad bar was fresh and tasty no boring salad leaves here and every meat was done to perfection and where other places the rotation of meats is 10 or so minute between item here your looking minutes in between so you don't feel rushed.and you can enjoy your meal turn your disc at leisure and have you next round of cooked delights .

This place has been one of the most memorable dining experience i have had. It is located in Jesmond in Newcastle and the restaurant has got a lovely ambience and great staff when you come in. Beautiful music playing. The salad bar is one of the best i have seen with a great variety of salad options. The staff come with a variety of meat every 5 minutes I’m assuming with all types of meat. Chicken, lamb, beef, sausages. It’s a bit pricey but totally worth the price. Hoping to visit again soon.

Update (January 2021) : We ordered takeaway from Rio's and it was absolutely outstanding this time, therefore adding a star! Rio Steakhouse is a great experience for those unfamiliar with Brazilian Churrasco/Rodízio. A selection of meats, including lamb, picanha (ao alho), linguiça (Brazilian sausage), chicken hearts etc., is served at the table and pão de queijo is served as a mini-starter. The selection of salads and sides is also great. In addition, we were served two little buckets of chips. We were a little disappointed with the Picanha meat which, despite being cooked well, had little taste and lacked the traditional Brazilian coarse salt seasoning. The Picanha ao alho (garlic) had it though. The cocktails, unfortunately, were also a letdown. Pretty, but not mixed very well. Therefore, will not give it 5 stars. Overall, however, the staff was very nice and the atmosphere was pleasant with some Brazilian tunes. We will definitely return in the future!

Absolutely fantastic!! Different kind of meats are coming to your table literally every 3-4 mins and you can take as much as you want! If you get full at some point you can stop and then start again. A scrumptious and unique dining experience in the heart of Jesmond. A true taste of Brazilian barbeque. I have been 3 times now and it never disappoints. The lunch menu is great Value for money with a good selection of meats. The servers come to your table and slice the meet for you to take. All you can eat steak! This is a great place for groups and family get togethers. The staff are always friendly and attentive. Come hungry. The salad bar is all you can eat as well and has great hot and cold options. My only gripe is they got rid of their Brazilian beer Brahma from the tap and replaced it with Stella but there are still other good beer options.

You order you salad from the selection sheet, then when it arrives you turn your card over to say your ready for meat and then the servers come round with different selections of meat on skewers... They come every min or two, so you can eat as much as you like.... Waiters were nice and polite, also the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. Will definitely go back next time we're in Newcastle.

No. 1 restaurant on TripAdvisor for Newcastle. It's no. 1 for a reason. Faultless. Staff = the dream team. Gorgeous from the outside and beautiful interior too. Sat upstairs in the most gorgeous area to peruse the menu. Basically all you can eat for £29.99. Salad bar was exceptional! Fill your plate then go back to your table. And then along comes the meat.... skewer after skewer....after skewer.... Served at your table. You have a beer mat that says more meat please on one side and no more at the moment on the other and you flip it over to how much more you can actually fit in! When our food went down a bit we flipped it back over! All sorts of meat available. Even Fillet steak was on the menu. I finished with this. The grand finale. We had the house red which was very palatable and served in my favourite shape glasses - makes all the difference I feel.

This was our first visit at Rio's the day after reopening after lock down. Everybody had to eat outside and the tables were well spaced with canopies and heaters but unfortunately they have no control over the weather and it was very cold but at least it wasn't raining We were greeted by our server, Romy, on arrival and she explained the process of ordering salads and sides as well as how to use the cards to show we wanted meat or were having a rest!! She took our drinks order and they arrived really quickly along with our sides and salads. She was very attentive to our party throughout our visit without being pushy. Then the meat began to arrive. I wasn't sure what to expect and how it would be served but it all came out on skewers and the waiter would tell you what it was and you decided if you wanted it or not. As soon as one meat went in another would appear. Every piece of meat I tried was exceptional and the rest of our party agreed. Even the pineapple that went with the gammon was really tasty. We will definitely be back and I would highly recommend to friends. Maybe wait until its a little warmer though if still only allowed to sit outside. Overall a very enjoyable meal which was a little bit different.

Great dining experience for meat lovers. There is a good selection of chicken, lamb and beef going around (the ribeye is incredible). The salad/sides bar is well stocked, with tasty hot and cold sides including antipasto, sushi and brazilian stew. Waiting staff were welcoming and attentative, and the ambience was relaxing and suitably posh. On the negative side, a certain chef serving meat seemed unhappy if you didn't fancy whatever he was bringing out, which made it a bit awkward. Overall, I would definitely recommend trying this place. Prices high but are about average for rodizio restaurants here - and still good value if you compare it to a fancy steak restaurant.

I am from the south of Brazil, where this kind of "Rodizio" (where they came with a large piece of meat in a stick to serve you in the table) is traditional. When I was in Brazil, I was used to this kind of barbecue (Churrasco) every weekend. So, I can tell you that the meat tastes how it should be. Rio steakhouse is one of the best "Churrascaria" (Brazilian steakhouse) that I've been outside of Rio Grande do Sul (South of Brazil). The meat is tasteful, the staff is very kind, and they have some different Brazilian food in the buffet (that is included in the price), in special farofa (made with Brazilian root called mandioca or cassava) and feijão. Also, they had some "pão de queijo" (typical cheese bread from Minas Gerais state), caipirinha, etc. I went there twice, both times the staff and food were perfect.
