F. H.A Turkish restaurant on a busy road in Jesmond. It is halal which is good and the decor inside is very nice. They have good covid measures in place with all waiters wearing protectors. The service was a little slow and I asked for my food to be packed and unfortunately it accidentally went in the bin. The waiter was apologetic and offered to make me a new dish. The food itself is nice well presented and the ambience is welcoming and friendly. It was very similar to other Turkish restaurant with popular dishes on the menu.

Hats off to the chef, the food here was delicious, hot, fresh and presentable. Came for a Turkish friends birthday who was very pleased with the meal.
The downfall was the extremely poor service ourselves and the tables around us received. Wait times were very long and flagging down staff members was difficult. The table next to us was given the bottle of unopened wine and spent about 30mins trying to flag down a waiter to open it and take their food order.
There was also an odd hierarchy between the staff, with the young staff members being micro-managed to the point where it was noticeable and uncomfortable to watch.

M. L.My partner took myself and our 2 children for an after school treat. Saray came highly recommended by a friend and I can tell you he was absolutely correct. When we arrived at around 4:30 it was relatively quiet which allowed us to get a table for four close to the window. The building which Saray occupies has undergone a complete renovation and you can see that they have aimed for quality arabesque wall decorations, solid wood tables tops, comfy chairs and some lovely tiles in the exposed fire places.
To the background of Turkish pop music we chose our starters humus & bread, Kalamar, Muska Boregi, and Yaprak Sarma. These starters set the tone for the rest of our experience. The starters arrived quickly and we were soon finished. Plates were whisked away drinks refilled and within a short amount of time our mains were delivered. We took the Kaburga, Saray Kofte, and the Adana. My Kaburga which is barbecued lamb spare ribs was perfectly cooked super juicy with BBQ grilled flavour. Out 2 boys loved their Kofte and my partner said her Adana was delicious however she regretted indulging on the starters.
After a rest and a chat we had a look at the desert menu which has a great selection of indulgent treats being a Turkish restaurant we thought to give the Baklava a try as well as the cheese cake, rice pudding and a Turkish Coffee. The Baklava was perfect the layers of filo pastry light and crispy the nuts with just the right amount of syrup that wasn’t too sweet. Giving our compliments to the manager he proudly informed us that the Baklava is made by their Turkish chef my compliments to him.
In all Saray was highly recommended and did not disappoint their waiters organised by an extremely polite and helpful manager and evidently skilled chefs have made us eager to return. Our last little surprise was saved until last 4 starters 4 mains 4 desserts plus a coffee came to £100 an absolute bargain for the quality of food, portions sizes and the service.

P. C.Lovely restaurant in Jesmond. Lots of options for food. I really enjoyed the chicken iskender full of flavour even though the chicken was slightly undercooked overall a great experience. We had baklava with ice cream for dessert and tea which the go really well together. Amasing service great food and atmosphere I will definitely try it again and absolutely recommended. O. D.If you like delicious Turkish food, beautifully presented this restaurant is a must to visit. From walking through the door it has a warm welcoming feel. The staff are friendly and attentive adding to the relaxed atmosphere. The decor is immaculate and comfortable a mix of traditional Turkish and modern styling. There is a well stocked bar the prices are good and they serve Efes, local Turkish beer, a fond reminder of our visits to Turkey. The food is served hot and the attention to detail is exceptional. Can recommend the soup, garlic mushrooms, the meatballs, my chicken dish was cooked beautifully. The portions are good and the prices are not expensive for such quality food. They have meals suitable for vegetarians, vegans so all tastes are catered for. We had a wonderful evening will definitely visit again.

Beautiful decor welcomes you to this refined eatery, I stumbled upon it by mistake but I am sure glad I did.
As mentioned the Mixed Grill was excellent, the quality of the meats were brilliant, the seasoning sublime & the skill in cooking second to none.

Despite booking our table early (5pm) the staff were ready for us, the place was clean and well presented.
The owner came across to our table chatted which we felt was a lovely touch.
The food was fantastic! Lovely and fresh and very tasty.

i. K.It has been 6 months since opening I think. Everything is brand new. Quite reasonably priced (a bit more expensive the city centre competitor but it is location). Staff is helpful as well. You can try couple of sides with your wine or rakı or a big main if you are hungry for a noce and peaceful meal.

The food here is one of the finest Turkish food I have ever tried in UK, really without any exageration.
The starters were great and the Chicken Dolma was just the perfect combination.
We had to leave at some point due to personal issues and they more than happy to givr us what was left as a take away.

S. W.Couldn't of wished for a better birthday experience for my partner. From ringing up to book, to walking out of the door, we couldn't of been made to feel more welcome. We had a large party, with a diversity of dishes and every single person commented how great the food was, and how we would all certainly be making the return journey. Asides from the perfect food the staff were so attentive and made everyone feel so at ease, and even went above and beyond by decorating the place and throwing in a few birthday surprises! Could not recommend Saray highly enough, thanks for a brilliant night!

We shared an aubergine and potato starter with Turkish bread that was excellent. For main course my husband has lamb Iskender which he said was fantastic. I had a lamp and vegetable stew which came in a clay pot which was also very good.

K.Nothing to fault here. Saray is ranked No. 1 on the places to eat in Newcastle on Trip Advisor and I think it deserves that spot through and through.
The food is a delicious mix of perfectly created dishes with a taste for everyone and a very accessible palate, whilst still staying true to the Turkish roots.
The drinks can accompany the dishes perfectly, just ask for advice if you need it.
The best take away for this location is the staff, by far some of the most helpful and knowledgeable casual wait staff I've ever encountered. They approach their job like they actually want to be there and they actually want to help.
I would recommend Saray for casual dining, functions and dates. The prices are medium-high compared to other places but they are just for the portion size and the perfect quality of food.
A must eat in Newcastle, for sure.

I ordered the Moussaka with fresh cut chips.
The mousakka was probably the worst i have had over the years (vey bland) and the chips were were under cooked,
I had to give it salt to get some taste.
On the plus side the staff were friendly and the restaraunt was spotless.
I dont think i will be returning.

G. P.(Translated) The restaurant does not allow dogs inside, with a dog so they made us sit outside. The waiter wasn't particularly friendly so the service didn't impress us that much. Soft drinks (eg Ayran) good but not the best I've had. The food is good, the meat from the mixed grill very good and cooked to the right point. We especially enjoyed the fresh bread.

Il ristorante non ammette cani al suo interno, con una cagnolina quindi ci hanno fatto accomodare all'esterno. Il cameriere non era particolarmente amichevole quindi il servizio non ci ha colpito più di tanto. Bibite (ad esempio l'Ayran) buono ma non il migliore che abbia bevuto. Il cibo è buono, la carne della grigliata mista molto buona e cotta al punto giusto. In particolare abbiamo apprezzato il pane fresco.
