Located in the heart of Newcastle's legal district & close to the vibrant Quayside. Very nice restaurant with attentive service & pleasant ambience. Bar a little small if the restaurant is busy. Awesome range of champagnes! Food was very good with decent portions at a fair price. I just wish that some dishes weren't served on pieces of slate - a pet peeve! Makes it so difficult to eat all the food! Well worth a visit whether business or pleasure.

Medium fillet was cooked to perfection ! Medium/rare kangaroo fillet was outstanding! Staff very polite and well mannered Good value for money in comparison to like for like restaurants nationwide Certainly be back time and time again!

Having previously enjoyed a faultless meal and service at the Silk Room, myself and my partner visited the restaurant again recently before a show at the nearby Live Theatre and were once again blown away by the quality of food (and drink) on offer. If you can clock off work at a reasonable hour, their early bird menu is great value (3 courses for £18.95) but the a la carte is where the magic really happens with a mouthwatering selection of starting boards and great fish and meat main courses. You honestly can't go wrong here.

The food and service were first class but the restaurant was chilly. When the door opened it was positively freezing. The screen they'd put up at our table, which was opposite the door, kept falling onto us. It was a little expensive too. Overall, I'd recommend it, but make sure you don't book the table opposite the door if it's a chilly evening. The staff are fabulous and we had a great laugh with the sommelier!

Food was okay only but definitely overpriced. I had the Wagyu burger, which was £20 and very underwhelming. I've had better burgers for half that. The king prawn starter was very average and comprised of 4 prawns costing £11. Don't mind paying these prices but the food needs to be much better quality. I wouldn't return or recommend.

I was at this restaurant last night and proposed to my girlfriend. Take away the emotion of the night, this place is fantastic! The food was fantastic and at a responsible price, the selection of drinks is excellent but best of all is the service! Even before the staff knew about our special night, they were attentive, helpful and very welcoming! If you are looking for a quiet, intimate restaurant in Newcastle, then Silk Room is well worth a visit.

We visited the Silk Room for the first time as a family and were absolutely blown away by the restaurant. Everything from the friendly reception through to the generous portions and excellent wine list was spot on and I'd definitely consider going back with my work colleagues next time we're having a meeting. Being on the quayside but away from the stag-type bars was a blessing. I honestly couldn't fault the place. We will be back!

I came to the silk room with my son and his fiancé. What can I say. Service was fantastic, the food incredible. We had a wonderful evening. Think prices are a bit on the high side. This was a very special occasion so didn't mind. Its not your run of the mill restaurant.

I had to do a reservation for my parents 30th anniversary and birthday. The person (I didn't get a chance to get his name) from the back office who did my reservation was so friendly and helpful. I couldn't have asked for a better service! I was so pleased that I was able to order for my parents as I didn't want them to choose basing on prices. I live in Brighton away from my parents so the person who processed my booking was super helpful and made sure that everything will be in place for when my parents arrive at the restaurant. I am so grateful and will definitely visit the restaurant my self when I visit Newcastle 😊

Visited the restaurant for second time. Just to give it another chance . It was OK. I wouldn't say I was excited by over all food and service. What you ask and what you get is totally different. Twice been asked for same thing I was told yes. At the end didn't get. Service average friendly staff. Too noisy and over priced. Sorry guys need a lot of improvement on service and knowledge of your products.

Great experience from start to end. Was greeted at the door by polite and happy staff. The food was great, came fairly quickly enough so that I didnt get bored waiting, but also not to quick that I wasnt ready. The soul and motown playlist is top class, makes the whole meal better! The fact that when I asked if I could get a copy of the playlist they were playing, they went out of their way to make a video of scrolling through the it so I can recreate it, all with no bother at all made this place the best place I have eaten in Newcastle. Great food, great staff, great atmosphere. I had the Wagyu burger as a main and Scallops to start - lush. Our bottle of Prosecco was in the day's delivery, so as it chilled, they gave us a couple glasses, cold of course, completely free. Of the 4 days I spent in Newcastle, my visit here was the best experience of the trip. 10/10, highly recommended
