Food was. Although the waiter described it as tapas style portions we found it to be still quite filling.
We tried a couple of white wines and they were nice.
I had the 3 course lunch menu which was good value. The a la carte menu were decent too.
Service was a particular highlight with the staff being helpful not intrusive.

We were underwhelmed by the taste and cooking of the food here. The reviews were excellent and it was hard to get a booking which are all good signs of a quality foodie spot but unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations.
The pork medallions were a bit dry and over cooked and so was the steak. The confit duck was good though as well as the chocolate mousse pudding, so not bad just not the excellent we were hoping for. However, what was excellent was the red wine👌
Overall we left disappointed as we thought this place was going to be a rave review but don’t think we will be going back.

Great range of brilliant food, loved the fig with goats cheese in particular. Staff were excellent, had to book a bit in advance so make sure you can get in. Will be back!

We loved every minute of our time here. They serve fantastic food and have a great atmosphere. The waiter was very attentive and kind. They do wine tasting here which was really good.
After talking to our waiter we discovered thier lunch menu changes weekly so no doubt, we be coming again!

Best French food we have had in a long time. As we are visiting Newcastle, thought to have something different - the place is cosy, staff were friendly, and the food and wine were exquisite. We did ordered on the excessive side and enjoyed a good bottle of wine. But would still say it a good value for money. Looking forward returning again!
L.
Very nice place! We booked three weeks ago. Foods are amazing! Especially the roasted duck and the baked cheese are my favourite! Mussels are very fresh and tasty as well! Highly recommended!!

Had a fantastic meal with Family at this lovely restaurant on Saturday night. Food was fabulous. We are a mixture of carnivores and veggies and the menu catered well for all. We loved sharing the interesting variety of small plates in an informal relaxed environment (great choices for veggies). Our waiter Michael had great wine knowledge, was friendly, attentive and added to our enjoyable experience. Highly recommend.

We had an amazing meal here. The food was perfect and such good value. The sea bass was the best fish we have had in a long time and the chefs were kind enough to send us a second portion as the first was on the small side (but we still would have been happy with it as it tasted so good!). All the staff were lovely, in particular our waitress Grace and the waitress who talked us through our desserts (but we didn’t catch her name!). Will definitely be back.

Went midweek for a evening meal. It was delicious food and being vegan they had a huge range of food to choose from - all small plates. Most dishes were elevated by their herby oil recipe - which they also sell in bottles. There are a good range of drinks and cocktails
Prices are high value but definitely worth it for the atmosphere and quality of the food.

Another fabulous meal. Excellent value lunch deal too. In addition we shared the best mussels I've had in the UK, divine. Special mention to all the lovely ladies who looked after us so well yet again.
B. V.
Staff is amazing. Knows well about the menu and drink options for the customers. Impressed with the staff who helped me to choose the drinks. They have huge collection. You will get authentic French food.
Nice ambience, great staff. Impressive food option for vegan and vegetarian. Loved it.

Ok, so our 1st time. It's been open 4 years. Very attentive front of house staff giving a good explanation about how the menu works. Then very prompt service, not over intrusive, superb food, portions just right and delicious house wine. Price very acceptable mid to slightly upper range. Definitely recommended. We will return for sure - maybe also for a set lunch menu.
J. S.
Love this place. Really knowledgeable, friendly staff and delicious food. We ordered 3 dishes each and it was just about enough food. The duck starters were delicious. The potato gratin was one of the best I've ever tasted. Lentils were a little bland but 1 average dish out of 12 is good going!
S.
Food, wine and staff are all amazing! We had a great meal here last night and everything we ate was delicious. The charcuterie duck and the fig posset were highlights. Would eat here again in a heartbeat!
C. G.
We loved this restaurant and will definitely go back. Great wines and every one of the sharing plates we had was a delight. The baked Camembert, Frittata, Boeuf Bourguignon and the Jambon were all particularly good but nothing disappoints. Staff are excellent, knowledgeable and very friendly and helpful.

Michelin star food. They do French Tapas we had monkfish and chorizo skewers, beetroot fondant, Ratatouille and Prawns. Delicous

Fab evening here. Short menu but everything naturally gluten free so great for coeliacs and more than enough to chose from. Friendly staff, very good wine list including the wine of the moment by the glass, carafe or bottle. Food delicious, plates are for sharing and so you can try a little of everything. We had a sharing plate of charcuterie and fig and goats cheese, all very impressive. Mains were the duck, beef and pork also all delicious. Would highly recommend this great restaurant with a lovely atmosphere.
L. C.
Had a meal with a friend and it was a very enjoyable experience. I'm coeliac and most of the dishes were gluten-free or had gluten-free options. The food was delicious, the staff friendly and helpful and the atmosphere relaxed and buzzing!

I've been here a couple of times, and went over the jubilee weekend. The food is absolutely stunning and the atmosphere is lovely. The staff were really friendly and helpful with navigating the menu and knowing what to get. I had the Planche Mixte Grande to share for a starter which is comprehensive and more than enough to start for 2 people. The selection of meats patès, cheeses and chutneys was delicious. Out of the selection of mains we ordered the dophinois potatoes and the sea bass were the best! I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the city or going out with people they're not familiar with because there's something for everyone.

C'est superb! Where to start? The French Quarter has an unassuming exterior but it more than delivers inside. Walls lined with bottles of wine, a dash of industrial but a timely focus on safety & cleanliness which is very welcome! The menu is diverse (to say the least!) with prices and dishes to suit everyone. Wine options are extensive, and the staff (more on them later!) are knowledgeable on these and the food choices too - absolutely make the most of this! I had a mix of starters and mains, including fish, meat and vegetables and can highly recommend them all! For me the star was the humble Ail Roti (baked garlic) but nothing was less than impressive. But what really makes the whole experience was Rachel and Petras (apologies if spelt wrong), they were informative, engaging and provided a fantastic atmosphere. Cannot recommend The French Quarter highly enough - and that was me dining alone!
J. k. (.
Absolutly divine..... a French take on tapas, lots of selection of dishes from cheese, meats, salads etc. We were a party of 5, the member of staff serving was very helpful advising us on numbers of plates to order and types of dishes that compliment each other, I can't remember exactly what we had but memorable plates were the smoked duck, beef bourgenon, cambert, lentil salad and honestly ive never had olives as good, in fact the whole meal was perfection that good in fact I forgot to get photos of the mains when they came out but I think the empty plates say it all. If you like cheese, meat, wine, well if you just like food this is definitely a place worth a visit.
We would go back 😋😋😋

Exceptional service gave good advice. 1st class
D. M.
Amazing service, very attentive without being intrusive. Food was top notch and the wine, although rather expensive, was very enjoyable.
J. E.
Very cosy small french tapas restaurant. The professional staff made us feel very welcome and guided us through the menu well. Food was excellent, got a real taste of France. Will be back again soon
D.
Amazing food and brilliant service. Worth it.
C. K.
Amazing food, the quality and variety were incredible. Service was great, atmosphere was so laid back. A high quality, unfussy experience and the best 'sidecar' I've had in a very long time. Its not cheap but its is worth every single penny and more. A real treat of a night out. Perfect for catching up with good friends, a date night or just to taste the best food on offer in the city in a casual but comfortable venue.
S. P.
Nice place for some French -ish food!
The food is nice although the portions are not very big!
The prices are okay, good service and nice atmosphere :)
H. H.
Great range of brilliant food, loved the fig with goats cheese in particular. Staff were excellent, had to book a bit in advance so make sure you can get in. Will be back!

Really good place. The good was delicious and waiters very kinds.
When I arrived all the tables were busy so I had to dinner in the bar.
D.
Really enjoyed my meal, small portions but very tasty. My only issue was the dessert, mine came still frozen inside. I mentioned this and the waiter was super apologetic and handled it really well. Props to the staff.
F. M.
Warm welcome, attentive service, French ambience. Ordered a selection of the French 'tapas style' dishes... nicely presented, good quantity and delicious.First class selection of French wines on offer. This is a must visit, we'll be back.
I. G.
French tapas not something I have had before. Quality was good. However when we visited they kept running out of things. Also unlike in france bread was very limited unless you kept paying for more. Shame
M. R.
Fantastic food, fantastic environment, fantastic service. If I lived a few hundred miles closer, I imagine I'd be a regular at this place. Thanks The French Quarter, really enjoyed my visit.
d. c.
Amazing food and wine. Top quality.
The staff though is a little bit pretentious.
J. C.
Really tasty small plates and great selection of wine available by the glass and caraff. Service is unbeatable and the staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. This is a fantastic place in Newcastle and superb value for the quality of food and wine on offer
L. S.
Fabulous restaurant, great menu, lovely ambience and excellent staff. First visit, but will be back. Thank you.
M. J.
The staff were very professional, friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent. I definitely recommend this place.
S. C.
Choice of wine is spectacular. The best French cider I have ever tasted. Food is very authentic and that the ownership is French comes through in the quality of every dish we tried. Book early as they seem to be often full and were unable to take us the last time we showed up without a reservation
M.
The waiters we had here were incredibly friendly and very helpful with explaining how the menu works and whether we were ordering the right amount. It's very much like a French tapas, and all of the dishes I taste were extremely nice. The actual size is the restaurant is very small, so you may need to book if you want to guarantee getting a table. I believe there is also a private section upstairs if you have enough people to fill it
l. p.
The food was awesome. I loved how it was smaller portions rather than one big meal. Gave us the chance to try a few different things. I can’t fault any of it. The flight of white wine was really lovely and nice, again to be able to try different wines. The staff were so knowledgeable and friendly too. The place looks outstanding and the smart and well presented staff add to this. Overall I was more than satisfied and will definitely be returning!
The creme brûlée was delicious.
A.
Very nice starting platter to share, but didn't include bread for £19...
Small plates to share for main - tapas style. Really good selection and very tasty.
Wine taster trio also excellent - plenty of advice on what to try. Waiter did attempt to correct french when we were ordering dishes - please note my girlfriend is fluent and picked up on this...
m. h.
First time going here and with our group of 3 only eating veg and fish, we were pleasantly surprised to see the range of options available.
We got a few dishes to share and all of them were delicious. The wine was great and the service spot on.
Lovely decor and vibe in the restaurant and they even have lots of little gifts available (mustard, chutneys, wine etc.) which will be great for birthday and xmas gifts.
Thanks a lot everyone, we shall definitely be back. :)
E. W.
Utterly devine.
Great service in a warm casual place with a fantastic wine list and the most wonderful food. Small plates portions are good for tasting and sharing. We had 3 each plus a dessert each and felt full but not stuffed. Which is how we wanted it.
Already planning another trip to the city so we can come back!
J. C.
Lovely tasty food with great service. Would definitely recommend.
I. H.
🌟 Authentic French cuisine — delicious escargots 🐌 seafood salad 🥗 duck 🦆 & mussels. Also try great french wine 🍷.
🌟 Tasty dessert 🍮 and nice coffee.
🌟 Reasonable price (usually one main course no more than £10), though not very large portion. Also great value lunch menu. Different every now and then. Choose two or three courses.
🌟 One of the most popular restaurants in Newcastle city centre — book in advance online. Serves until late night.
🌟 Friendly and helpful staff.
I. C.
Good selection of smaller plates designed for sharing and everything we had was tasty. Staff were friendly and attentive without being too in your face. Wine selection was also decent and reasonably priced.
E. M.
If you are missing traveling to France on holiday you can at least get a taste of it here. Great for those who want to order everything on the menu. The sharing boards include a little of every charcuterie and cheese on the menu. Wine flight selections. Mains and sides can be mixed and matched and shared. Trendy restaurant located in the railway arches.
W. B.
Loved this place, friendly staff, great atmosphere and delicious food and cocktails.
C. W.
Very good food and service. Excellent choice of wines Not too expensive.

Last night we went all francais. A lovely family run restaurant just a stones throw away from our hotel. Picked from the great reviews on TripAdvisor (as always) and we loved it too 🇫🇷
.
They have taken the fuss out of French dining whilst keeping the tradition. Kind of a French tapas bar. And use independent local suppliers as well as suppliers in France.
Warm welcome. Nice little table for 2 was waiting for us. The waitress came over and kindly explained how the menu worked. She also explained how the flight of wine worked. Basically you choose red or white. You get to sample 3 different wines. 75ml each. Perfect to accompany our meal and went particularly well with the charcuterie sharing platter (basically meats. cheeses. pickles and walnuts). We loved the black olive taponade. It came with croutons which hubby had and they brought celery and carrots for me ( I requested). The main courses, which for me was medallions of pork in a peppercorn sauce and for hubby beef buorguignon, were literally melt in the mouth delicious. We ordered haricot vert (green beans) to accompany. Perfect.
It was exceptional value and we both loved every second there. In fact we are talking of going back to try their lunch menu!
Highly recommended
M. L. C.
A surprising variety of vegetarian options and the vegetable cassoulet was especially good.
L. B.
Hands down one of the nicest meals I've ever eaten in my life. An amazing experience from start to finish, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. If I could recommend any feedback, it felt a bit 'salesy' at the end i.e. the waiter came over a few times to ask if we wanted anything else when we had already declined. It was probably just being very attentive which I appreciate but it came across as a bit of a sale. Regardless, I would eat here everyday if I lived in Newcastle!
B. A.
Really nice place and would recommend. I like the way they do the menus in an almost tapas format. Service was good to boot as well. Lost a star as my main (beef bourguignon) it just never had any pop or wow factor which is maybe a bit unfair but everything lead me to believe it would deliver a big wow so left me disappointed.
J.
Very nice food, tapas style menu, good wine selection, and friendly staff. Would totally come back.
A. H.
Food is adorable, staff knowledgeable, particularly Kiwi Michael
An utter delight
Recommend the beef bourgignone and the duck
T. P.
Probably my favourite restaurant in Newcastle. The food is always amazing and cooked to perfection. Would recommend the tarte tatin for desert but they are all so nice it's hard to recommend just one.
S. R.
Delicious food, tapas but French style! Good location if want a meal before train from central
Station or going to the arena, recommended!
L. D.
4 of us visited in late October for a post business meal and it was absolutely brilliant.
We opted for the tapas style dishes which meant there was a diverse mix of high quality food which was all very tasty. The staff were all very friendly and able to recommend dishes to us.
Good selection of drinks - including beer - as you would expect high quality wine.
Will definitely visit again!
R. L.
Great atmosphere, superb produce expertly cooked. Well done
K. T.
Amazing dishes, cozy place and the staff absolutely friendly.
Toast and Jamón 100% 👌🏽
K. M.
Visited for the first time staff were friendly food was good just not enough of it portions very small not the place to go if you want your fill found it very expensive considering what we got not good value for money.
P. J. W.
Brilliant lunch, lovely wine, friendly and unfussy service. A great addition to Newcastle's food and drink scene. Recommended!
A. M.
I've been last night with my miss to the French Quarter for the best dinner we could have asked for. All the dishes we ordered were delicious, as well as the house red wine (try it!). The ambient is casual and the service is very attentive and caring, we'll be definitely back whenever back in Newcastle. Prices in line with quality and quantity of the food offered. Superb!
l. p.
We had a great time here. The tapas were excellent tapas and the wine flights we had were a great way to sample wine. The service was great. Would recommend and would go back next time we are in newcastle.
D.
First class, best meal while visiting Newcastle. Wine flight great idea made the evening more interesting. Staff were great.
E. S.
Best restaurant in Newcastle, one of my favourites in the world. Feels like you're sat in Paris. We always take friends and family from out of town here and they've been as obsessed as us every time. Staff always wonderful. Food quite reasonably priced for the quality too.
C. M.
Some of the best food I’ve ever eaten! Came with my girlfriend and we loved everything we had, staff were very friendly. Can’t stop thinking about it so will definitely come again!
B. T.
I can imagine many a French-person rolling their eyes at the concept (tapas? with French food!?) but there is not a single item on the menu I wouldn't eat. We ordered far too much and took the rest home. It's not too flashy, just classic dishes done really well with spot-on portion sizes. Super friendly staff and a great wine menu. I especially liked the Wine Flights - a tenner for three small glasses.
D. R.
Excellent food, kind of tapas style but bigger portions. Great if you enjoy trying multiple things on the menu, we had 10 dishes between 4. Extensive wine list, the bottle we had was as described and reasonably priced. Great service too, will be coming back!
C. M.
Incredible food, atmosphere and service. If you love authentic fresh French food this is the place for you. I would recommend the mussels, fig and goats cheese salad and snails. My partner also had the beef and said it was delicious!
J. W.
Fantastic little restaurant, staff were amazing and food was outstanding!! They have a great knowledge of wine and the atmosphere was chilled. Definitely will be returning!
V. P.
Quite busy during weekends, but the food is delicious!
K. R.
Interesting idea of French tapas and it worked very well. Very well done.
K. S.
Absolutely fabulous food! Fantastic staff. And decent prices. Will definitely be back! Booking necessary or you'll be disappointed!
K. K.
Really great food . Pleasant helpful staff.Good ambience. Our temperatures were taken as we entered the restaurant and staff wore visors .
J. S.
Excellent service and food. Nice relaxed cosy atmosphere.
M. T.
The French Quarter is one of the best restaurants in Newcastle. Lovely French style tapas (~3 per person before dessert). Very friendly staff.
Plan with £30-40 per person without wine.
Personal recommendation: tapinade, gratin daphnios and mousse au chocolate.
J. L.
Wonderful food, friendly, efficient service and a great vibe. Love it here.
A. Y.
Nice atmosphere and friendly staff, also a good wine and spirit selection but unfortunately the food left me quite disappointed. Both the garlic and snails starters lacked flavour, the cheese platter was quite underwhelming with just tiny pieces of blue and goat’s cheese, the chutneys on the other hand were great but they’re only a side
detail. Magret de canard is superb as a starter - so that’s a pass for 1 out of the 4 starters we shared. For mains I chose the veggie option from the plat du jour / suggestions of the day, a champignons dish that was very disappointing in both taste and presentation. I didn’t finish it. We also ordered a salad with puy lentils which again was not worth bothering. We didn’t finish it. The other main dish we ordered was delicious and definitely up to standard, but small in portion: the canard. In summary, I left the restaurant feeling hungry whereas I had really been looking forward to digging into some real French food. Let’s say it’s not a horrible place at all but I won’t recommend it if you’re a foodie.
T. M.
Delicious food, fabulous wine and great service.
J. B.
My partner and I went here last night for our one year anniversary and had an amazing meal and service. Our waiter was absolutely fantastic (unfortunately we didn't catch his name) but he was talkative and extremely nice. The food was amazing as well and I wanted to give a big shout out to the whole team at French Quarter for making our one year anniversary amazing.
E. B.
Just been for a very nice 2 course lunch. Also has tapas style menu choice of small dishes to share. Food was very tasty. Glass of house wine was good. Service was excellent friendly and informative. Busy but didn't book.
S. C.
Food was great and service was exceptional especially from Michael!
J. R.
We enjoyed a delicious lunch here last week, with super slick service and a great ambience. Portions are not big, so order wisely! We even purchased some confiture de figues to take home! Fabulous!
G.
Easily one of the best restaurants in Newcastle! Authentic menu with a wide variety of small and large plates, with plenty of veggy and vegan options too. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, the interior is smart and welcoming which all makes for a great atmosphere. Wine flights are a great option to try lots of different varieties without spending a fortune. Whole heartedly would recommend to anyone

Wow what a lovely end to my few days in Newcastle! Two lessons in Wine Education plus a cheese board in the evening, plus lovely staff happy to chat, even when busy! Hope to come back when I visit Newcastle again Jon
L. C.
Really great atmosphere, delicious food with many options for vegans and vegetarians which is sometimes uncommon with other places. Well thought out, delicious food from a varied menu with lots of attention to detail with presentation and flavours. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and it was nice to be greeted by one of the owners and see them taking an active role too, as again, many other places don't have this. We all enjoyed our visit very much and can't wait to return- it's highly recommended!
R. H.
Stop reading reviews and book a table, The French Quarter is excellent
J. B.
Love this place!!
When we rang up to book a table they said it was quite busy but put our name down and suggested we come earlyish for a drink at the bar. When we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff and showed to the bar, it was a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We didn't wait long at all for a table which was cosy and comfortable. I cant praise the staff enough, so friendly and knowledgeable! The food was amazing and we very much enjoyed trying French tapas for the first time. We also had the red wine discovery which was a glass of 3 wines and this was a real treat. Thoroughly enjoyed dining here and will definitely be going back!
Z. B.
Very good food. It's a place for a special occasion. They serve tapas size french dishes so you need to order at least two dishes. Wines start at £25 a bottle but it's all very nice.
L. G.
One of my favourite restaurants in Newcastle. Great atmosphere, food and service, with a unique twist. I would recommend the cheese boards and creme brulee to everyone. Some dishes can be let down by under seasoning and a few tweaks here and there, but on the whole this restaurant is a must go!
S. P.
Stumbled across this restaurant on a few days break to Newcastle with a stroke of luck,Because from start to finish this was a fantastic experience. To us its was unusual to see a french tapas restaurantbut in a good way. We ordered four starters and three mains between us and every single dish was amazing. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming we were well looked after by a guy with Red hair
J. F.
One of the best meals I've had recently. Excellent food. Friendly, chatty (but not over-attentive) waiter who made a superb wine recommendation. Expensive but worth it!
C. B.
Great food and drink - French food tapas style. Service very attentive (perhaps too much - need more coordination as it seemed two waiters were trying to explain menu, taking orders from us, etc!). Bavette was terrific (a real hearty steak well executed). Will be returning!
S. T.
Stephanie and I wanted a mid-week lunch out as a treat, but within a sensible budget. The French Quarter provided just that. Unauspicious within the Westgate arches, on entering the restaurant you get a full French feel - gently contemporary, but stylish in teal and mahogany. Our greeting was friendly and attentive, striking the perfect note of hospitality. The place-mat menus offer a wide and interesting range of tapas, but we chose the set lunch from a separate card. Toasted goats cheese drizzled with honey on bruschetta with rocket, proved divine. For mains, Stephanie selected artisan chicken on a bed of mash, and I had the bream and salmon with a selection of roasted vegetables finished in sauce. Both dishes were extremely well constructed, deliciously French and served with an excellent Cheverny wine and style. The chocolate desert (with two spoons) and exceptionally good coffee served in fun French beakers (don't expect a handle) completed a first class lunch. Service was great. Food was a delight. The price was fair. To be recommended for everyone who likes quality, tasty food with great classic French service.
G. B.
Popped in around 5:30pm on a Saturday after the theatre. We hadn't booked, but the maître d' managed to squeeze us in (2 of us).
Couldn't fault anything. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced. Also tried a white wine from Gateshead, which was very nice and better than we had in the theatre. All the staff were cheerful and looked like they really enjoy working there, which always makes a meal out more enjoyable.
We had various small plates to share. The Roquefort salad is tasty, the crevattes are huge and delicious. Give the snails a try too.
Nice atmosphere, music not too loud. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
D. T.
Delicious tapas-style French food, with an amazing selection of vegetarian options. The wine flights complement the food really well, and it's one of my favourite places to visit!
C. D.
First I should say the food was excellent and the staff friendly and efficient, however there were a few minor irritations. At first glance the prices look reasonable until being informed that it's effectively French tapas. Small plates and you need 2 or 3 plates per person, so having expected a reasonably priced meal, it suddenly became quite expensive (I should have realised that French cuisine is never cheap!). There were 6 of us and the table was uncomfortably small for so many plates even allowing for the fact that the food doesn't arrive all at once. I don't think I've ever been hungry at the end of Spanish tapas but at the end of this meal I felt I could have eaten more. We ordered 3 plates person and they are quite small, some duplication necessary for everyone to try a bit of everything. There were a couple of dishes I missed out on.
We were told the table was booked after us so we had about 2 hours for the meal. It was a bit tight, we weren't rushed, but if we had ordered pudding the next lot would have been kept waiting. A time-limit was a surprise in a restaurant of this calibre.
So, in summary, it's a new restaurant and I hope these are just teething troubles and that it will settle down as the food was very good.
S. D.
Delightful bistro style restaurant and bar. Main menu is small tapas sized dishes and the plat du jour traditional starter and main. All food was excellent on both our visits. Large excellent French wine list with plenty of choice for glasses, all at reasonable prices. All wines are also sold at retail prices to take away. Service immaculate with good attention to detail. Knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. Can't recommend highly enough.
I. F.
Excellent and attentive service. Good atmosphere and vibe. But, the food was mediocre. Barely seasoned and not tasting of much at all. The red wine of choice was lovely. So, all in all a mixed result but we enjoyed our evening. Won't be rushing back though.
J. F.
Beautiful food great service and bought produce from market to takeaway
S. F.
The waiters we had here were incredibly friendly and very helpful with explaining how the menu works and whether we were ordering the right amount.you get to taste so much!) and the service great. I am French and it feels like I am back in France when I eat there. I recommend it!
D. W.
Ok i dont usually do this but i had to give a review for this place. The French Quarter is superb! The menu allows a tasting flight of wines (3) red, white and sweet to match the menu meat veg and sweet menu! They have match the food with the wine in a way the i have never encountered before. The sweet wine flight to match the tasting menu of sweets is out of this world. And to finish... the most perfect liqueur coffee only here..... a transcendental experience and all very reasonably priced. The best place to visit in Newcastle and we have been here for 5 days. You simply must try it. The French Quarter is the best.!!
If in doubt ask the knowledgeable staff, Matthew will insist its a team effort.!!
V. K.
Amazing. Staff were so friendly and attentive; they seated us early, served us quickly and the food was absolutely gorgeous. One of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had. We will definitely be back!
C. M.
By no means a terrible experience, it was not worth the £130 my partner and I spent (which, had the food been better, would have been a completely reasonable price for the amount of food and drink we had).
The service was at times overbearing (we don’t need to know every single wine that will complement every single item on the menu, unless we ask) and other times we were completely neglected. The charcuterie and cheese sharing plate was delicious and a steal at only £11. The endive/blue cheese/walnut salad would have been better had the nuts been lightly toasted rather than raw. Goats cheese salad delicious. However, half of my escargots were grainy in texture. Duck was also way overcooked - not a trace of pink in the meat! However, it was by no means a horrible experience. Just not really worth the price.
N. P.
Went on our last night in Newcastle without a reservation but were accommodated and left after a superb meal and service. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit!!!
D. C.
Pity the industrial shabby chic reverberated the slightest noise. However, excellent food, friendly knowledgeable staff
Had to park away from the restaurant, 5 min walk at pay n display. Luckily it was free parking after 6:30pm.
On the high side of moderate pricing, not much change out of £120 for three people, but don't let the prices put you off. Delectable food. Think Spanish tapas but in the French style.
Definitely recommend for a treat, and highly likey I'll go again
D. M.
Honestly such an amazing place to eat. The food is stunning with slightly smaller dishes you can try more. House wine is great. Service is amazing. Every time I am in Newcastle I eat here.
I. B.
Very good vines. Wide choice. Attentive service. Beautiful food. Quite pricey but worth it.
This days it's nice to see they follow all the government guidelines with regards to COVID. It's a bit of a nuisance but We felt safe there.
D. M.
Great, authentic french food
S. K.
Good tasting put together with style. Friendly and personal service.
N. I.
Always been intrigued by this place and saw it was on restaurant week in Newcastle so was a good opportunity to try it out. Menu choices were obviously limited, but what we had was ok, I wouldn't say it was great though. Looking at the regular non-restaurant week prices I do think it is a bit overpriced. Had two servers through the meal - one was extremely polite and the other was the opposite and not very polite or helpful. Can't say I would recommend it highly, but could be worth a try on restaurant week of you interested.
G. C.
French tapas/small plates.
Helpful staff, great desserts.
Definitely worth a visit.
A. T.
Lush food in small portions that are appropriately priced considering you have to get 3-4 dishes to get full. But it's worth it because you get to try more! Great wine selection too.
L. R.
A great addition to Newcastle! We were impressed by the huge choice of wine, and the knowledgeability of our waiter (the charming Oliver). The food was delicious, though you will need to order a few plates, as it's a form of 'French tapas'. The beef and gratin dauphinoise were delicious, but we would especially recommend the smoked duck on the starters menu - it's not often you see this, and it was very good. Recommended.
P. J.
It's a nice place with a good atmosphere, the staff are charming but you pay a lot of money for not much food if eating the small plates. The food was fine as such and nothing wrong with individual dishes but tapas doesn't make sense within the classical French canon as a way to eat. If you there, go for a glass and the charcuterie
G. B.
Delicious food and friendly, helpful staff.
D. N.
Top drawer French food in a welcoming and casual atmosphere. Considering they'd only been open for a few days, everything was well organised. Three or four dishes between two is a good amount. Fabulous selection of wines, with an excellent Sauvignon Blanc on tap, as were a couple of local beers. Great value for money, too! We'll be back...
M. H.
A unique setting, tucked away between the castle keep and central station. Quirky, lively and with a great food sharing menu and wine selection. Excellent service and a really lovely way to spend an evening
I.
It's a resteraunt where the waiter explains the food to you ,I would say friendly pretentious .the food is tapas size portions beautifully cooked and presented , girly sized portions I have to say that the girls loved the whole thing, price wise meal and a glass of wine about £30. the wine was excellent with a good choice ,to sum up a tapas type meal with a glass of wine with the wife in a nice friendly setting perfect
R. N.
Had high hopes going in. Its tapas style. Good but not great. The Boeuf B. was dry with very little sauce. The server took it back and they did fix it, but the flavors weren't there. The olive tapenade was bland. On the other hand my dining partner ordered the duck and enjoyed that. Prices are high.
C. S.
Great restaurant, lovely atmosphere and fabulous vegetarian options of really tasty, top quality food. It's small sharing plates which won't be to everyone's taste but do visit, it's worth it. Good range of beer and wine with Wylam Brewery on draught. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We'll be back! 😀🍽️
J. R.
First time in here, having wanted to go for a while, and we were not disappointed. Service was friendly and knowledgeable, natural. The food was great. We, as usual, ordered too much, but everything was tasty, satisfying and well judged. The Macon Villages recommended was delicious. We will be back.
S. C.
Lovely place for a light lunch I had special, 3 courses £16.95 which we delicious. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
S. C.
Brilliant restaurant! The staff are so nice and the food is amazing. We had such a lovely time!
D. R.
Incredible to be fair. Food was some of the best I've had, service was exemplary, they seemed to genuinely care about us having a good experience.
J. L.
Amazing food and amazing service. Small plates, great wine, and knowledgeable waitstaff to help you pair everything. I especially loved the brie, the dauphinois potatoes, the flank steak and the tarte tartin. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough - I will most definitely be back whenever I visit Newcastle.
L. K.
The staff are attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The food is stunning and intensely moreish. The wine menu is accessible for all. A fabulous addition to the culture of Newcastle, a gem. I will, without a doubt, be returning.
B. J.
First time here for my wife & me.
Don’t think it will be our last.
Nice friendly warm atmosphere & best of all the food was great. My wife had the chicken pate starter & I had Duck with orange sauce. Both were terrific.
N. P.
I have been there twice now and will be back. The food is delicious (I recommend you try the "tapas style" menu, you get to taste so much!) and the service great. I am French and it feels like I am back in France when I eat there. I recommend it!
L. B.
Lovely atmosphere reasonably priced for food. Glass of wine was over £10 but was a beautiful wine. Breads and tempenade noire was the best I've ever tasted. Chabichou cheese was creamy and delious. Gratin dauphinois was cooked to perfection. The service was very professional and welcoming. Thanks for a lovely evening.
P. M.
Loved the meal and the restaurant. Very friendly and helpful staff too. We gad a great evening.
A. W.
Lovely family meal, nice staff.
j. b.
Situated in the old railway arches close to railway station. Good choice of tapas style dishes and plenty different wine choices. Shared the charcuterie and fromage platter (was good and just had small!) With fries, bread and tapenade extras was just right. Nice house wine and very prompt service meant we still made out 2.15 train
H. S.
Absolutely exquisite food and wine - a real treat! The tapas style of food makes for a really great social experience with friends with lots of delicious dishes to try. Will be back!
S. W.
A fabulous midweek lunch here when taking some time off together. We ordered from the fixed price menu and we enjoyed cod croquettes, figs and goats cheese, sea bass and stroganoff. For desert two classics of chocolate mousse and creme brûlée.
The service was great and the corona safety measures were exemplary. Our third visit, we will be back again I’m sure.

Second time here and loved it again. Service is good. Food its delightful and so tasty. Wine awesome too. My friends first time and they loved it

M. M.
Great meal and server was great too, when my wife was disappointed with desert another one was served which was excellent.
A. C.
Great flavours in the food and a fantastic selection of Wine to go with it. Portions are small plates but not too expensive. Will be going back.
C. B.
Highly recommend this restaurant. We took our French internship for lunch as she was missing her home nation cuisine. The food was fantastic and in her own words she described the food as "très très bien", which is very very good. That's good for me.
B. S.
Spur of the moment decision, seated at the bar as the restaurant was fully booked. Very attentive staff, excellent wine pairings and delicious food. Will definitely return.
A. D.
Good food especially if you like the sharing platter experience. Excellent choice of drinks. Great service and a lively atmosphere.
M. O.
My second time here and I think the food was even better!
I came the first week of opening and it was fine but I always thought there were room for improvement.
After 2 months, they're more settle and so the food.
Great French taste experience.
K. N.
Excellent choice. Very impressed with the variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes on the menu. Everything we orders was religious and reasonably priced. Good choice of bn eVerages too. Highly recommended.
A. J.
The food was excellent and a superb selection of wines. Prawns were slightly over cooked but the staff are happy and helpful
A.
Loved the experience and the food, delish 👌
J. W.
As always fantastic. Friendly staff lovely food. A little piece of France in Newcastle.
D. T.
Food a mix of just OK and very good. Wine prices need sorted. £10+ for a bottle to take home same bottle at the table £22+.
P. A.
Great food with good value. Friendly efficient staff who are happy to discuss the menu and recommend food and wine.
J. D.
Stunning, wonderful, great!! So wish this was closer to home. Genuine good French food in a tapas style. See you very soon.

Excellent food, incredible quality cheese and meats and the mussels where large and tender. Staff were very professional.
T. M.
Waiters very good and knowledgeable. Visited during Restaurant Week and having checked the menu the night before I had picked what I wanted. However, menu was a disappointment on the day! Did not enjoy what was on offer for a veggie
B. S.
Just a fantastic little restaurant. The quality of food is outstanding and very reasonably priced. The knowledgeable staff add to the overall experience! Genuine highlight of the city
T. H.
Nice sharing board and wine reasonable prices
G. C.
Excellent choice of interesting well cooked food and a nice atmosphere. Well worth a visit
i. m.
It's a place where the waiter explains your food to you the dishes are about the size of a tapas dish beautifully cooked and presented but it's a pay more get less kind of place girly sized portions ,friendly pretentious is my description about 30 quid a head with a glass of wine which by the way was excellent
A. P.
I came here with my girlfriend for a meal for my birthday and loved every minute of it. The food and selection was fantastic and couldn't fault it at all.

An excellent concept of French "tapas" dishes very well done with good wine. The desert was, however, disappointing.
