Reviews of Tomahawk Steakhouse - Newcastle
M. M.
Highly recommend if you're visiting Newcastle or live locally. The food was excellent and the staff were very attentive. We visited on a Monday and it was pretty busy so if you're planning a visit at the weekend I'd definitely book in advance. I'd say it quite reasonably priced for what you get, similar to decent steakhouses in Glasgow.

A Sunday lunch birthday treat, ordered 2 beef dinners with a side of pigs in blankets and a hot cookie dough topped with ice cream for desert.
We sat to eat around 12.30, the place was getting fairly busy with groups and families coming in to enjoy their lunch. A lively, warm atmosphere with interesting decor and place settings.
Staff were friendly and attentive, our food was served promptly and piping hot. The meal was delicious, the beef melting in the mouth and possibly the best roast potatoes we've ever had.
Thanks to the team at Tomahawk, we are looking forward to our next visit.

The place is cozy, romantic, and classy.
Not very crowded, though it was Friday night
I received a very good service. It’s a bit pricey yes but the food is super delicious. Totally worth it. I had a rump steak it comes with two side dishes of ur choice. It was 22 pounds. If you are two people and on budget two main courses would be enough. The proportion is good it would make full and with drinks you wouldn’t reach 100£.
Good choice for couples and friends. Definitely my go to steak restaurant🤩

Had Shawarma which was served along with fries, salad, 2 wraps and other sauces. The service and the food were fine. The house was full except a few tables; May be because it was a steakhouse, this place was largely dominated by male customers- like father and son duo; or a group of men; or like myself. But it was a good experience altogether for 17.5 pounds that includes an optional 10 percent service charge. I didn't have any drinks though except tap water!!

Very romantic and warm atmosphere with some brilliant staff who couldn’t have been more attentive sending my girlfriends steak back for further cooking and being more than happy to change the ice cream flavour on our dessert. In terms of the food there are so many options of steak which were apparently excellent, for outside of Teesside the parmo was pretty decent however the beef dripping chips that came with it were magnificent. The cookie dough was a highlight of the meal and great for sharing. All of this was topped off by having a table overlooking the sage, if you are looking for a treat and are a fan of steak I can’t recommend this place enough!

This place is amazing, food was lush some of the best steak we have had. The sharer for two had plenty on it. Wine reasonable price too. Service wasnt the fastest but it was a busy Saturday night.
Overall great place, and would recommend to others.
Z. K.
This place is amazing! We ordered the sharing platter so that we could try every steak and we weren't disappointed. Perfectly cooked meat and the sides were delicious as well.

BUTCHERS BOARD SHARING PLATTER
Pictures on their Instagram and Facebook show massive portions of the steaks on this Platter but as you can see we only got 2 bits of each steak apart from the flat iron. The ribeye and sirloin were chewy and full of fat, fillet was good and flat iron was surprisingly the best...
Sauces and sides all alright , chips were good and slaw was great. Staff were lovely and service was good.
Overall I've had better steaks and don't think it's worth the price... Still nice tho but deffo go to rio next-door instead 🤣 6.5/10

Celebrating our golden wedding anniversary. Emma and Joe could not have done more to make this a special night. The food is excellent. Really enjoyed our night
M. C.
Food was good, steak cooked exactly how I asked for it. Portion sizes were just right too. Staff were excellent, cocktails were on the small side and it’s quite pricey, nearly £100 for two starters, two mains and two drinks. Having said that, overall a good experience.
A. L.
Amazing!!! The food, the staff the atmosphere. I enjoy very much the Sirloin, cooked to perfection, the sticky toffee pudding, delicious. The staff make me feel super welcome.

We've eaten here a few times now and the food is always great.
The Tomahawk steak was beautiful, full of flavour and the sides were nice too. The chicken parmesan however was disappointing, it looked noce but was completely bland and not enjoyable. We will definitely visit again as previously all food has been very nice, we just won't be ordering the chicken parm again.

A bit of late comment, however back in January 2021, myself, my family and friends enjoyed a lovely meal at Tomahawks (like always). However this time, it was a bit different as it was my gender reveal meal. Our gender reveal plans didn’t work out so my mum ended up buying 2 big, black balloons- one for a boy and one for a girl. The balloons were on different lengths of string so was easy to know which is which. As i wanted my party to find out the same time as me and my husband, we kindly asked one of the staff to open the envelope with the correct gender in and help us with what balloon to use. Unfortunately I can’t remember names but a wonderful woman came out with us, handed us our balloon and made it one of the best nights ever💖
The food is ALWAYS spectacular, no faults at all. However this post is more about the friendly staff and the appreciation I have for them. The night wouldn’t have been as amazing without them, please let everyone know how wonderful they are x

First timer, attentive staff, glady reseated us to a more comfortable area. Had the best steak of my life, the 8oz Wagyu. French Martini was divine. Can't wait to go back.
R. F.
Outstanding. The staff were really friendly, attentive and pleasant. The food was amazing, we had the Sunday dinner sharer (plus extras!) and it was the best Sunday dinner I have ever had from a restaurant. The portion size was great too, with a couple of extra sides between two there was hardly any waste/leftover. Would definitely recommend!
J. H.
Service was good and attentive. Prawn starter was terrible. They were Rubbery and tasteless - advised waiter and just apologised. Pork belly was very tasty. Sharing platter was all delicious meats, cooked how we had asked. Although again, sides of prawns were over cooked and rubbery. All the sauces in the sides were bland and tasteless. Was more like prawns or mushroom in water.
They add a service charge to the bill at the end and ask you if you would like to pay it- which I found a bit awkward and presumptuous.
J. C.
Absolutely beautiful food throughout, great service too, well definitely recommend.
J. N.
Had a lovely afternoon, the staff were very polite and professional, everything well explained and excellent covid measures in place felt very safe. Enjoyed our few drinks there and the takeaway food was delicious. We will definitely be going back to enjoy the full dining experience. I would definitely recommend a visit here.
Returned had a lovely meal and I definitely recommend this restaurant.
S. I.
Went here with my wife for dinner the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. The food was good but not great especially for the price, we had a sharing board, problem was its served on a wooden board and some of the meat was not as warm as it should be. The beef dripping chips were overcooked. The wine selection was good as were the cocktails. Having ate at other steakhouses it would not be my first choice in the future.
M. R.
I've wanted to go here for a long time and wasn't disappointed. Food and service was excellent. I had the sharing player with my son and the highlights was the fillet steak and the onion rings. Best onion rings I've had anywhere. I could have had that sharing platter for two on my own it was so nice. I would certainly go back again.
A. R.
The food was really good. But the place isn't all it's cracked up to be. It's expensive, and they pack you in there like sardines - To the point where you can't help but hear the guy on the next table (who is 3ft away from you) rambling on for an hour about how he's going to Spain to set up a business selling beer to bars 😫.
It won't be a frequent visit for us, maybe again for takeaway or something 🤷♂️
R. S.
Great people ❤ very friendly 👍let me keep my bike inside when I had me fantastic steak❤❤
P. H.
Lunch menu - amazing value, tasty, great portion sizes. Service was brilliant, very attentive.

Visited on a Saturday, bang on 12 midday. It was fairly quiet to begin with but started getting busy during and towards the end of our visit. Booked ahead to avoid disappointment.
Staff are very helpful and efficient. Social distancing is maintained during visits and all staff wear face masks. Food was really nice and well cooked. My order, which was a burger that should have had a double patty and bacon in it only had a single patty. I mentioned this to our waitress and my meal was discounted, which I found to be very satisfactory.
Would be 5 stars but the toilets were not the cleanest. Considering our visit took place right at the start of the opening day you would think the toilets should be cleaner. Forgot to mention this to the staff. Overall though an enjoyable and safe experience. If visiting, please remember to wear a face mask upon entering and leaving and when moving around the restaurant.
Thanks to all the staff for being friendly and polite and for providing a safe dining experience!
L. L.
Best Sunday lunch I've had in a while! I went for the sharing board, the wagyu beef was delicious.
Wouldn't recommend the restaurant week steak deal though as you o only have a choice of well done or pink and the steak was chewy. However, when I've been on other non restaurant week occasions the food has been really good
M.
A bit of confusion on the drinks and starters but overall service was good. I was disappointed with my starters, king prawns, because the prawns were fried with the shell and it was too tough to eat the shell.
Steak was good, sauce was good but one of my sides (beef dripped chips) were served cold.
We were a table of 11 so that could have been a reason for it.
a. y.
I have never in my 56 years of living on earth tasted a Sunday lunch like this, heaven on a plate is the best way to describe it.
Vegetables cooked to perfection ,the cauliflower cheese was divine as were the carrots. yorkshire puddings were homemade and huge ,unlimited gravy if you want it,it came in a small pan and was plentiful. Now the meat was a choice of chicken , pork or beef, they asked how you wanted the beef.we opted for beef as previous time they done lamb so we thought it would be nice to try beef and next time we go we shall try chicken then pork.Beef melted in your mouth I chose well done and there was copious amounts of beef and veg ,couldn't eat it all I would recommend this to anyone ,best to book as they do get busy ,we went for 2.30.staff nice and friendly, great atmosphere in the heart of the toon
s. g.
Lovely didn't appreciate the 10% "voluntary" service charge found that a bit high especially in these times otherwise very nice food lovely staff honestly think 5% would be more acceptable
A. S.
Last visit: Place fealt cold and food could not hold its heat.
They added a "optional" service charge on to the bill. Yes the service was ok but give me an option on the card reader and you may get one, this is not America.
Since my first visit I have been to other steak places in town and I'd say for price this is no where near the best. Steak was missing something.
First visit :The food here is amazing it is a meat lovers dream. The staff are really polite and provided great service. The beef dripping chips are that of another world and taste amazing. There menu isn't huge but it has quite a few options which you can combine with vast list of side orders.
The only down side is the price but that is equally matched by the quality. Looking forward to going back.
M. A.
Had a lovely spicy fish as a starter which I highly recommend, followed by a spicy chicken wrap for my main. Fab restaurant by the river and the waiter was a barrel of laughs, literally the happiest person ever. Highly recommend.
E. D.
We booked for resturant week, 3 courses for £20. Food was ok for that price but I wouldn't have been happy to pay full price. I'm picky when it comes to steak and couldn't eat mine but my partner believes wasting steak is a sin so he helped out. He did say it was average at best. Our server was great, very welcoming and helpful
d. t.
This was a first visit and only went because I couldn't get a booking in time for miller and carter. After visiting I believe this place is much nicer. Food was delicious and great service. Will absolutely be back.
E. M.
Good food on the 3 courses for £20 offer

This was our first visit. My husband I I were looking for a good Steakhouse and were hoping this was it. The website looked promising. First, the service was impeccable. The young man who served us was amazing and if I was just rating him, it would be 5 stars. The bar staff make an amazing cocktail too. The front of the house is top notch!
The kitchen staff however need to be taught how to cook their signature steak. We ordered the tomahawk medium rare. We were served a blue rare beast. We ate most of it, because to send it back once sliced would have likely ruined it. We could not eat the massive pieces of raw fat and uncooked sinew in some of the pieces. The sides were also ice cold except for the garlic prawns which seemed like they were added to the platter at the last moment. Did our entire meal sit in the window while it waited for prawns? If that's the case, the steak could have been left in the broiler to cook to an edible and enjoyable doneness.
Our waiter knew that tray should have never left the kitchen. He didn't serve it to us and you could see it in his face when he saw the massive pieces of raw cold meat. Folks it was so raw it didn't even bleed. He was a dear and offered us free desserts. The signature tomahawk bombe was amazing.
Honestly, I'd like to give them another chance, but were having a hard time justifying a 140 quid bill for a disappointing meal and a return visit. It was our wedding anniversary, so we were even prepared to sit and drink and spend money. But alas. Anyway, we may have given up hope of finding a good Steakhouse in Newcastle (not the first disappointment) and will do our own Tomahawks from Costco. I do a fantastic job for a quarter of the price and I'd be happy to train any kitchen staff needing a refresher.
N. M.
The food was amazing and so was the service. It was a little loud as it was very busy, and the food took quite some time as well, about ~45 minutes. But it was worth the wait and I'd certainly go back
S. W.
Food was lovely. Well priced for portions and quality. Room we was in was cold. 2 of our guests kept jackets on. Felt a bit rushed by our waiter
C. C.
Good meal, had the halloumi burger which was a bit disappointing as it literally was just a slab of halloumi. Everyone else enjoyed their meal. What made the night was one of our waitresses Fran. She had great customer service skills and was such a laugh.
D. M.
I had the Wagu 10oz sirloin and I think it may have been the best steak I have had.. ever! The atmosphere is relaxed and vibrant and the quality of the food is absolutely superb.
Unfortunately when we visited there had been a problem in the kitchen which meant that after 1.5 hours, we'd still only had our starters. However. the staff were polite and apologetic and very attentive throughout our stay. So 5 stars.
C. g.
We had a lovely meal and the Steaks where fantastic
M. C.
Top food that tasted as good as it looked 😋
P. b.
Great place, amazing food and drinks. The staff were attentive and friendly. Really made my anniversary special
J. O.
Three of us went to Tomahawk for restaurant week. Two of us ate from that menu and one person from the standard menu. I have to say I have mix views about the service and food. I guess for £15 pp for three course off restaurant week menu was pretty good value, the main courses were very good but the starters and desserts left a lot to be desired. The same goes for the standard menu, the wagu steak was very tasty and tender but again starters and dessert were poor, one cheesecake came still in it's plastic wrapper. It was very busy all night and the waiting staff had a lot of people to serve but the service was patchy, at times lots of staff and then no one around - we waited ages for our disappointing deserts. The other strange thing was no beer and cider drinks list - the server had to tell us a long list of drinks. It was also very noisy - the music was loud and with it being very busy a lot of general noise. Don't think we'll be back in a hurry. Disappointing.

Newcastle Restaurant week menu.
Lunch time visit
3 course for £20. Chose Starter of Parmo Croquettas. Only2 small pingpong sized pieces with dressing. A mains of Steak, cooked medium was okay but served only with fries no other garnish. Tasty but not exceptional.
Dessert was (a barely) Warm chocolate fudge cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. As a signature meal for this Restaurant event I was left disappointed.
K. G.
Amazing place with friendly staff and tasty food. The sweet potato wedges were so good I almost cried! I also didn't want a dessert and said I would have a taste of my boyfriend's Tomahawk Bombe, but when they brought it over I ate half! I constantly talk about this place for days after I've eaten there!
A. L.
Sublime steak! Great service too 😃
I have been here a few times now on my travels, it gets better every time. I have Medium Well steaks and it is always just right.
There is a fine choice of meat cuts as well as chicken and fish dishes.
Remains one of the finest steakhouses I have ever been to in the UK! 🥩👍
N. I.
Fantastic steakhouse. Steak was beautifully cooked and delicious. Good choice of drinks on tap including some real ales. Nice restaurant inside and out and well decorated. Staff very friendly too. One of the better steaks I've had in Newcastle and nice Quayside location. Would highly recommend for anyone fancying a nice steak in the town.
B. L.
I'm so upset with the exteremly slow service we recieved here. The food was amazing. The decor inside was amazing. Lay out of food and decor again amazing! Having to wait 30 mins per course Including 15/20 mins for the bill was a disgrace. I honestly would be giving 4/5 stars if other wise.
b. e.
Great atmosphere , food was delicious , steak was cooked to perfection and nicely priced , friendly staff too ..
C. R.
Superb steak with a classy Chianti to match it along with some of the most efficient and friendly service we have had in a long time, highly recommended.
A. B.
1st time with my other half and we loved it.. food is out ov this world.. staff are nice and very friendly. Will be telling all my family and friends to go try..😁
S. W.
Attend a work function, food was great, due to the size of the room plates and drinks had to be passed over people but apart from that it was a good night
L. R.
Wow, what fantastic steak! The best steak I've ever had, and the staff were amazing. Will be returning ASAP
P. J. W.
Would have been a decent enough Sunday roast if it was hot. Lukewarm food on cold plates, after waiting nearly an hour, just isn't good enough. Staff were very friendly, but service overall was slapdash. I couldn't really recommend it at the price.
V. H.
Although my starter was small portion wise,it was still very tasty, and our mains and desserts were off the chain, good service from the staff, friendly and polite, will definitely be going again
J. H.
First time here today and will definitely be going back. Friendly atmosphere good choice of steaks and side all cooked as we asked. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is that I didn't get the chance to sample the dessert menu this time round. Looking forward to updating this review in the future.
P. R.
Had an amazing meal here.
I got a huge steak was so delicious.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Until next time 😋😋😋 …
D. 8.
Very friendly and accommodating staff, food very nice . Beer good too , recommended.👍 …
Z.
Ordered the porterhouse steak medium well with peppercorn sauce and it was delicious (chefs kiss).
Sides: beef dripping chips, I was disappointed with it as it didn't live upto my expectations.
Will return here again to try other sides and the wagyu beef.
S. W.
Thanks to Charlie and Greta for ensuring we had a great night.
The food was excellent, the service was the best we’ve had anywhere.
We loved the anniversary pudding.
Thanks
J. P. E.
Amazing food! Best steak house that I have been to in Newcastle. The service is good and the location / venue are nice as well. Would highly recommend visiting if you’re into your steaks!
S. C.
Fantastic service and a beautiful Tomahawk steak.
S. M.
Absolutely gorgeous food. Well worth a visit.
T. R.
Our first time at this steakhouse and we absolutely loved it. Fantastic food, Great place very friendly helpful staff. Will definitely be returning soon.
C. B.
If you're looking for steak, look no further!
S. J.
I had the Porterhouse steak with onion rings and beef dripping chips & Eaton Mess, both courses were delicious.
Gave a 4 star rating as the main courses on our table took nearly an hour to arrive.
Would come back again though!
l. e.
Best place for steak in Newcastle good portion sizes, decent price and good cocktails. We ordered the sharing platter and our friends had the tomahawk steak. Desserts not the best but that's not what you go there for!!!
S. Å.
You get what you pay for, an amazing food experience!
j. h.
Best steakhouse I have ever been to!! Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was out of this world. We ordered the sharing plater which was a great way to experience the different types of steak! Would 100% recommend to anyone!
v. g.
Sharing platter with Diane sauce which was pretty tasteless and runny..my friend got peppercorn sauce which was really good. My friend hit lucky with her pice of the meat I had quite a bit fatty/gristle. Would go back great location for a meal before the Sage.
R. K.
Food excellent again. Would have liked to see what meat we were eating, as York Tomahawk Steakhouse had the names of the meat on little flags so we knew what we had. Service excellent too.
A. H.
Easily my favourite steakhouse in Newcastle. It can be a bit pricy, but, in my opinion, worth it. Steaks are cooked to perfection. The side of mac 'n' cheese is to die for. Service is second to none, and decor hits the spot. Could not recommend more highly.
A. G.
Is was a little loud during our visit as we went during restaurant week but food and service was absolutely fantastic!
Y. L.
Wonderful steak with affordable price.
Maybe not like Michelin-scored taste,
but instead you would feel like having a well prepared dinnet at your home.
That should be fair enough to let you enjoy the moment.
Staffs are very friendly and they also have good-priced wines
N. B.
The steak was better than I thought it would be and I already had high expectations I love my steak. Good wine selection great service.
B. L.
Had a private a table in an enclove and it was like private dinning. Went for the sharer, nicely presented and cooked as requested. Cant ask for better.

Visited 19-11-22
Had previously visited Tomahawks in Beverley on 5-11-22
There is no
Comparison, newcastle by far more superior , location , staff , food, ambiance, food, decor
I can’t believe that these 2 places are owned by the same chain
Paid £20:00 restaurant week at newcastle
Paid full price at Beverley
The food and delivery at newcastle beyond beautiful
Beverley terrible
The owners need to look at these venues and see what’s going wrong
Can’t praise the staff, food any more at newcastle , can’t wait to go back
Well done newcastle
S. F.
I can't put into words how good this food was. I appreciate that the prices may make peoole go elsewhere, but the quality is amazing and I wouldn't recommend anywhere else for this kind of food. We had 2 rump steaks and ordered 4 sides which we tapas'd. Can't wait to too back. Can't think of a better meal. Do it.
S. C.
Steak was superb, perfectly cooked and there are lots of sides to choose from. Service was attentive and the decor is really nice. The tables are well spaced out so you dont feel like your having a conversation with strangers.
N. V.
Now this was a very nice surprise. To be honest I did not expect to see such a quality prime cut of Yorkshire Wagyu beef. Wonderful steak. The sides were quality too. The atmosphere is one of a typical American Texan steakhouse and the The restaurant is located on the Quayside right by the river Tyne with a great view of the famous Tyne Bridge.
C. M.
It should be so much better than it is given meat is what they do. Very average Sunday lunch, priced similarly to much better options
N. B.
Service was excellent - despite what seemed to be a busy evening there was no waiting, staff were very attentive and friendly. Steak was cooked perfectly, sides were also delicious. Good atmosphere, great place to eat some good food!
J. W.
Love tomahawk. The food was amazing. Steaks really well made. The choices are good. Can be a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Lovely staff too.
J. H.
Beautiful establishment and amazing food! Me and my brother went and had a warm welcome and had excellent service(didnt catch the waiters name but sorry I only had a few quid in change on me to tip but if I could you would of gotten a bigger) steak was cooked to perfection and the desserts are to die for! Definitely coming back here again.
D. v. V.
Lovely atmosphere, fast service, food delicious. We had the fillet steak with peppercorn sauce- delicious!
M. A.
This place has turned me around on steaks. I never used to like them after several bad experiences of overdone nastiness, fatty gristly monstrosities, but the steak here was perfectly cooked (for me!) and wasn't chewy at all.
The hash browns and brisket (top in the photo) was also top notch. Couldn't stop eating it!
Desserts seem to be an afterthought however, and while they're good, they could make several improvements. I opted for the brownie, but it was cold. If it was warm and melted the ice cream a little, it would be so much better.
One of these stars is for the service however. It was brilliant. The lady who seated us (Yorkshire accent and glasses) was so lovely and helpful.
Excellent place all in all, just a few tweaks and then five stars from me. Well done!
A. H.
Me and the girls went here the other day it is rather expensive but it is tasty and a gold atmosphere! Next time I would get a different side to the mac and cheese as it didn't really go with the dish . Waiters were attentive. Think they do a lunch daytime menu so I will give that a try next time.
P. D.
Amazed how busy this place was on a random Tuesday night. Parmo was OK, too much betchamel sauce and the waitress was not very attentive but when we did see her she was polite
R. H.
Everything was perfect had the sharing steak platter it was beautiful and I highly recommend the squid, staff were all nice and really friendly
C. R.
Tremendous. Definitely coming back. Service was on the top 10. Food was absolutely delicious. Well done to the chefs. Not one fault. Perfectly cooked. Mouth watering. You definitely get what you pay for. Even the atmosphere is lovely
A. S.
Food is delicious staff were excellent we had the full back room on our Xmas party and they were all brilliant very attentive
J. B.
Bloodeh loveleh, ain't cheap like but worth the price. Great interior and fantastic service ✨
A.
the steak was great, one of the best I've had. staff themselves were very quick and courteous, just note the 10% service fee that's added to your bill before you get it and make you sure ask for tap water as they charge £3.60 for opened bottles of still water.
A. S.
This place is beautiful! The food is by far one of the most spectacular I have had! The steak was unbelievably tender and melted in my mouth. The atmosphere is lovely, the service is five star! I had a wonderful night, couldn't fault any of it. The cocktails were amazing 👏 will definitely be back again soon. …
S. M.
Lovely food served and service could not have been any better, despite a slight hiccup with 1 order.
D. H.
Went with my wife today, both really enjoyed our meal and staff were spot on. Expensive but nice once and a while as a treat
C. W.
This was our second visit, and again it was a wonderful meal. The food is fantastic from starters to puddings, the potions are a good size and very tasty. The staff are polite, friendly which added to the nice atmosphere. Will definitely being going again.
A. A.
Amazing service. One of the best steaks I've had. Would definitely recommend this place for all ages and tastes!
E. H.
Probably the best meal we had in Newcastle, fantastic food and very friendly service.
j. s.
Sharing board was spot on. Beautifully cooked assortment of steaks & tasty side dishes. If you like your steaks this is the place!
T. C.
Can I place be too cheap? The quality is amazing. For a fiver each. The eggs were tasty. The black pudding is to die for. (it probably will kill me) service is outstanding.
C. N.
Went today as part of restaurant week. Delicious flat iron steak medium rare. 😋
Great place and friendly staff.
a. d.
This place was fantastic we booked late for 9 people on the day of the mother-in-laws funeral, we were placed in the long booth very private are and were well looked after
S. G.
Amazing food great value as we did #eatouttohelpout nice bit of fillet for me and my friend had lobster ! Everything was amaze !
J. A.
Lovely environment and great location. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Our steaks were lovely but I would definitely choose a different type next time as I found the sirloin a lot fatter than normal & chewy as a result. Unfortunately what really spoiled it for me and stopped me giving a 5 star review was the peppercorn sauce! It seemed to be laced with wouchester sauce, which I unfortunately dont like. As I poured this over my steak before tasting (as I didnt think I would need to) it put a dampner on my meal. Will definitely go back though, just try something else next time
A. S.
4 star review from a veggie. Salad bar was surprisingly good lots of variety a solid choices. We got a few baskets of chips dough balls and cheese bites on the table which were good. I would have been happy with just that for my meal. I did order the veggie fajita pasta option and wasn't overly impressed considering is being £17ish. But for the meat eaters at the table they had a great time and thought it was well worth the money
M. S.
Staff brilliant, food absolutely gorgeous 😍
R. W. (.
Absolutely amazing food and service
P.
Great steakhouse on Newcastle quayside. Excellent menu choice including oysters and a good drinks menu.
L. B.
Went for a meal on Saturday night whilst visiting Newcastle. Daughter had fillet steak which was very good. My Ribeye was quite fatty but had delicious flavour. Service was good. The restaurant was busy and had a nice atmosphere. Only complaint was they had run out of garlic bread for the starter and the chocolate bomb for dessert
M. W.
My wife and I visited Newcastle last week and went to Tomohawk steakhouse for an evening meal.. The sirlion was fantastic medium cooked with 2 sides for me.. My wife didn't have steak but had sea bass with a very generous portion of spicy noodles. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Overall a fantastic experience. The staff were very attentive to all of our needs.. Thank you for making a lovely night for us..
H. S.
We went to celebrate our daughters 21st and my birthday and had an amazing time. The food, staff, atmosphere and how much we were welcomed as a party of 9, with how much work went into a flawless evening, I cant recommend Tomohawk highly enough. Everything was cooked to perfection and the waiting service was flawless. Thank you all for such a memorable evening
C. M.
The steak was beautifully cooked. Melt in the mouth and I even got the cheaper option of Rump and it was beautiful. However the sides are a bit of a let down. They're just badly cooked and are a bit dry. There is some kind of bacon and cheese balls that my partner got and they looked and tasted like they were from Icelands party range. But saying that my partner loved his mac and cheese so it may just be hit and miss.
Lovely service from the staff and very attentive. Kudos for asking us whether we would like a drink just as our food was arriving so that we werent trying to get anyones attention whilst eating.
L. W.
Been here afew times for Sunday lunch never disappoints.
D. B.
Very nice steak, cooked well. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Beef fat chips were fantastic! Would reccomend.
R. H.
Small menu but food is delicious excellent service
J. K.
Best steak Ave had me and my friends absolutely loved it plus amazing service aswell so kind and helpful will recommend and be coming back thank you so much guys
K. K.
Great food, friendly service and good location right in the quayside.
P. L.
Food was pretty good after we got it reheated. We'll overpriced though.
T. Y.
The food was absolutely faultless the steak sharing platter was cooked to perfection and the service was excellent i would definitely recommend booking
J. W.
A group of us went for dinner on Monday evening. Atmosphere was lovely. Our server Romy was really helpful, and courteous. The food was fresh, plenty of variety,a well stocked salad bar, huge variety of food . Something for everyone. We would definitely return.
M.
Good Roast but the quality of the beef let it down.
T. C.
We had a celebration here and it was perfect! Food was just great and the staff were very attentive. They even gave us a free treat at the end of the meal.
G. H.
Nice people, wonderful food. Good value for money
J. C.
Delicious Yorkshire wagyu ribeye steak, probably the best steak I've ever had! Loved the decor and atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
N. M.
Great steaks, not too pricey, service fun, beer and wine good. Very little to dislike.
C. S.
Great food, my steak was cooked to perfection, a little high end pricewise though.
T. N.
Went here last week for my birthday meal. The steaks and the food are delicious. The peppercorn sauce is minging though. Everything else was fantastic.
J. W.
This place if bloody amazing highly recommend for any carnivore🍖 out there.
The food is impeccable from quality of the produce they are using to the presentation on the plate ( or carving bored ) could not fault a thing.
Hats of to all the chefs and waiters there keep up the amazing work your all doing.
Tomahawk is luck to have you all with how the hospitality sector is these days.
again amazing place 😇
A. M.
Sunday lunch was lush. Attentive staff and great atmosphere as well.
M. S.
Nice setting and the steak was very tasty. My only gripe was that we'd asked for the steaks to be cooked medium but they were very undercooked. We did enjoy them and yes, we could have sent them back, but it should have been obvious to the chef that they weren't medium. I would still go back though.
C. S.
Amazing food and service, staff are very attentive. Had the sharing board couldn’t fault it! Celebrated a birthday and staff brought out the dessert with a happy birthday message in chocolate and limoncello shots complementary with it! Would definitely go back again!
L. B. H.
Pretty good steakhouse. Had a nice slice of Ribeyes with plenty of options as sides. Would've given 5 stars if they had cooked the steak how I ordered it.
J. I.
Lovely meal, went as a group, can't praise front of house staff enough they were fab
A. S.
Absolutely amazing experience at Tomahawks. John and the team made us feel extremely welcome; service, food and atmosphere was exquisite. We were there celebrating my brother's 30th birthday and again they went the extra mile to make it a special one, happy birthday plaque with chocolate decorations...Nice touch! First time visiting, we were sincerely blown away by the quality of food, unreal. Thanks again guys...Will see you all again soon
A. S.
Went with the wife and was very impressed, the food was prepared and cooked well, the I also can't fault the service, we had a great meal and great night, will definitely be returning again.
J. D.
Fantastic food and great atmosphere. Steak cooked to perfection. A little pricey but worth every penny.
J. M.
Saturday night party of 6,our first time at tomahawks, our waitress was very busy but she had it under control, food was cooked well and hot,I shared the meat sharing board and you got 4 sides to go with it,3 people could share this, plenty of steak , definitely going back, really enjoyed the evening
C. W.
This place is beautiful! The food is by far one of the most spectacular I have had! The steak was unbelievably tender and melted in my mouth. The atmosphere is lovely, the service is five star! I had a wonderful night, couldn't fault any of it.
P. H.
First visit here, beautifully cooked steak and excellent service.
T. F.
Nicely laid out rooms, initial warm atmosphere, pleasant staff, lovely meals in general.
Would have got 5 stars until we found out what people paying were complaining about. The 10% surcharge, as it's not the cheapest of restaurants to start with.
However you can decline this but spoils the occasion......and atmosphere.
C. N.
Second time here and it was amazing. Restaurant week offer has to be the best offer in Newcastle
S. L.
Really good meal, the waiter was very helpful with advising us which steak was best for us & was very accommodating with requests. Food was 10/10 we had a tomahawk with sides and everything was hot and cooked well. Delicious. Would definitely come back.
N. D.
Really nice steak cooked medium to well done😋😄 …
S. M.
Had the most amazing meal at this restaurant on Wednesday 4th August
It has got to be by far the best steak meal I've had. The restaurant was very busy. Had the most friendly staff. Thanks for a fantastic evening. Looking forward to going again next year. If I was able to give you 50 stars you would have deserved every one.
W. O.
I went here with colleagues from work and was delicious. I had a lovely Tomahawk steak with cream peas, peppercorn sauce and garlic mushrooms. I also tried an oyster for the first time. All very delicious however I was slightly disappointed by the size of the sides as I thought they were a bit small for what you pay for. The oyster was gritty and the mignonette was not very pleasant. Overall tasty and full of flavour!
S. H.
Great atmosphere, good music and a really tasty steak. Found us a table even though busy. Excellent place for a laid back meal. Cocktails looked interesting.
A. S.
Visited during the restaurant week to feel the vibe before making a proper dinner booking. It was a joke. They compromised on quality in order to make it cheap. I would rather pay more for the set menu or have 2 courses instead of having poor quality meal🤷♀️ very disappointed, won't rush here again...
M. M.
Had a great time the staff were first class the food was amazing cooked to perfection the way we like it was not over priced will definitely be going back the only thing as my wife is pregnant and asked for none alcoholic wine and they didn't have any hope they get some for my next visit
s. v.
Fantastic wine and steak. Really great all round . Only criticism if you can call it that is no finger bowl while shelling my prawns. Can be forgiven because of everything else. Food, ,wine ,experience amazing.
M. K.
Yorkshire Wagyu Ribeye, the nicest Ribeye I've had in a long time. Staff wonderful, nice restaurant surroundings. Well worth a visit!
T. 7.
Great restaurant right by the side of the river. We shared a tomahawk steak which was excellent with beef dripping chips.
M. G.
We booked here for a work's night out, it was my first time at Tomahawk. WOW is all I can say, the place is fantastic. We were seated quickly and orders taken, they have quite a large menu and it all looks super tasty. Once ordered the food arrived in a decent time and was done to perfection. The steaks are UNREAL! The photo doesn't do justice to the size of this steak, it was huge. Its not the cheapest restaurant by any stretch of the imagination, but trust me the extra money you pay, is definitely worth it. Once we are back to normal, we are planning another work night there, and I want to take the other half to sample the food here. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed!
B. F.
Cannot fault! It was my first time heading to a restaurant since the pandemic so was rather nervous which I mentioned when booking. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. Food was delicious, staff were lovely & would recommend!
T. J.
My wife and I enjoyed our visit. The steaks when they arrived (after 45 minutes) were very good and tasty. It appeared to us that they deliberately delay to get you to drink more (the waitress came by 3 times asking if we wanted another drink) as it doesn't take 45 minutes to cook steak and chips. But they were good steaks, nice char and flavour and cooked just right.
G. H.
Food was fabulous well presented service was good but be prepared for a wait as everything is cooked freshly to order
S. '. S. M.
I have to say our experience was amazing, lovely friendly staff, the food was out of this world, best Steak I have had in a restaraunt, the 8oz Wagyu Fillet was cooked to perfection and tasted so nice, the lobster was delicious, I would book again in a heartbeat, also there is one opening up near to where we live so we will be visiting that one very soon. Thank you for a lovely time.
E. N.
Food was half decent but the service was very poor. Slow, we sat at 8.15pm and didn’t get our steak until 9.30pm. Staff all seem to be students with little experience which doesn’t fit with a £75 steak! Steak was good but in line with the service we wouldn’t go back.
J. H.
Brilliant food and service. Slightly more expensive than other places but well worth it. We will be dining here every time we visit Newcastle from now on.
R. S.
Gorgeous food, friendly staff as always
L. B. (.
Had the porterhouse, not bad but for the money it was small and nothing flash at all….sides were also very basic (prawns were tiny, broccoli came with hardly any salsa on, slaw was pretty normal nothing different, wedges again not much in the way of topping) but quite tasty tbf.
Location is decent although the vibe is let wanting….all in all a rip off, but i’d probs come back if friends wanted to haha
L. F.
Steak was fab, my son and I got the sharing board which I highly recommend as you get to try fillet, sirloin and flat iron beautiful. You also get 2 sides each and prawns in garlic butter. My son loved it.
R. P.
Great steak, not sniffy if you prefer it towards the better done end of the chilling spectrum. Popular place even midweek which is a good sign.
B. E.
Really really nice meal in here. We were all out to celebrate my Mams birthday and had a great night. Nice helpful and friendly staff who did a great job of looking after us. Lovely atmosphere and the food was really good. I would highly recommend it if you like your steak. We will definitely be back in the near future.
S. F.
Great location, great young staff with a lot of dedication, all very friendly. The food was great. Thank you.
R. I.
Food was good ,but too salty,
M. D.
Good service and setting you just pay a bit of a premium for it 🤨
C. C.
Every thing was fantastic service ,steaks ,staff ,we had been to another establishment on the quay side (can't tell you where )a few weeks ago but yep you were worth the money ,,we will be returning
Hopefully get a blue light card discount
T. L.
The steak I had. The 20oz porterhouse, medium rare was delicious. Absolutely delicious. The sides were all brilliant. Beef dripping chips and buttered spinach. Amazing. The sauces were lush too. There is a service charge of 10% which is optional but you have to ask for it to be taken off, be warned. Service was a little slow. Otherwise would recommend.
A. Z.
The service was excellent. The wagyo ribeye was tender and tasty. The wagyo burger was average. For steak lovers, this is the best steak in Newcastle hands down.
P. M.
Really lovely steak. The sides were varied and really good. Our waitress was friendly and welcoming. I would go back, but I don't live in the area. Might consider relocation!
T. M.
It's hard to rate this place, I've only been once, so I'll update this review if I go back. I think for what you get, it is slightly expensive; in comparison to a Miller and Carter, Tomahawk seems slight more expensive and I'm uncertain if its worth it
When I went the food was reasonably good quality and overall I enjoyed it. However, I got a wagyu medium-rare, the cooking wasn't consistent and was medium in some parts, rare in others, and medium-rare in bits, not what I expected considering the price of the steak. I also am uncertain of the quality of the cut, I eat wagyu frequently when I go to Japan, and the cut and quality of steak is on a different level in Japan, so not certain what wagyu grade they use
The service was good, although slightly slow at times. However, the staff were friendly and happy to help
I would recommend trying this place, but for the extra price, I'm not sure if you'd better going to Miller and Carter if you were planning for steak consistently
A. 2.
Fantastic steak, best I've had, cooked to perfection
T. B.
Food was nice, steaks were cooked as we liked but lacked any kind of dining experience. Servers weren’t overly helpful snd could do with dressing a little smarter for a venue that charges prices in the premium bracket for Newcastle
I.
Omg that was amazing
S. R.
Good but not exceptional, maybe arrived too late in the day and local lockdown had just been imposed so not all choices available. Also menu changed from online version 2 days beforehand and not really for the better. Miller and Carter has superior food and cheaper bill overall as quite a hefty service charge is added on but thankfully its only optional as the bill was substantial enough 😉
L. B.
Best steak I've had in years. Perfectly cooked as requested. The starters were also first class as was the service. This is not a cheap place to eat but well worth visiting for a quality meal. Definitely returning.
n. h.
Honestly the steak and sweet potato fries were lovely but I was very very disappointed with the prawns. For a £4 side you would expect at least something decent. What I recieved on my plate looked as though the chef stuck a wooden skewer into his Tescos meal deal prawn sandwich and pulled it out. I was then told by a member of staff that they were king prawns. They were not. They were not even servant prawns. Each prawn was around the size and depth of a 5p coin.
S. F.
very happy with our visit. food was excellent and service good by friendly staff. thank you. this was our first visit and we will definitely come back again.
D.
Wagyu steak was fantastic. Service was great and waiting service was exceptional.
W. W.
A lovely Sunday dinner, would've preferred more traditional veg instead of the red cabbage. However, the beef was amazing; the roast potatoes were delicious and a decent Yorkshire pudding. We'll definitely come back and an evening visit to try out the steak's. You do need to book in advance though.
C. B.
Nice restaurant, excellent food. Managed to get a table on the night with a short wait. There was a set menu for Newcastle Food Week at £15 for 3 courses, with reasonable portions. The main menu looked very appetising. 4 stars though because they served me a pint of coke with plastic wrapping in!
G. W.
This place has been turned around ..steak is great ..nicely cooked ..pricey but service was great ..it was quiet on my visit ..range of beers ..chips were crunch and tasty ..and the pepper sauce was fantastic ..Good size steak ...great menu ..give it a go
c. h.
my wife and i had the chatabriand to share along with 4 sides and peppercorn and barbacue sauce. The service and the quality of the food was 5 star all the way, steak definatly fillet and flamed grilled, sweet potatoe and sweet chilli and sesame side was one of the tastiest things ive ever eaten, mac and cheese, onion rings, and beef dripping chips all really well cooked and utterly delicious. So why 3 stars?.........the fillet steak we got with the chatabriand was supposed to be 18 oz, we ordered it well done and when it came i took 1 look at it and was pretty certain in my opinian even taking into account it being well done and wieghing it at 18oz before cooking , that that steak was nowere near 18 oz. im a butcher by trade and have been cooking fillet steak for over 30 years. i was still hungry when we finished.
M. T.
Amazing food for all meat lovers.
b. m.
Well what can I say , just had the most amazing meal ever .The staff were fantastic. Attentive ,speedy and very knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend.. Thank you can’t wait to return .
E. R.
Food was fabulous, really succulent steaks and sides were really tasty. Service great, went for my daughter's 16th and they came with a dessert platter which was a lovely surprise. Thank you, so much.
H. R.
Delicious steak!
However we got moved between tables not once but twice which wasn't ideal. And the final table we ended up at was somewhat close to others and the wall
J. B.
Arrived in the early evening and had a pleasant dining experience. The place had character and attentive staff. Four of us had different cuts of steal for our mains and each were very enjoyable and cooked exactly as requested. The only negative would be the portion sizes being on the small side. Our starters being, lamb croquettes, duck wraps, spring rolls, and king prawns were all extremely small in quantity. For the price on average around £8/9 you would expect more fulfilling sizes. And the 'king prawns' had nothing king like about them. But overall and enjoyable Saturday night.
C. T.
Absolutely gorgeous food and amazing staff definitely will be returning it was are first time here but definitely not are last
G. “. B.
Good quality but for my personal experience not value for money , but ok.
L. P.
Good setting. Friendly service and very accommodating. Good quality steak cooked well. Early bird specials offer exceptional value. What really impressed me is that generally, at many other restaurants, you get generic salad or sides to accompany the focus of the dish - be it chicken, steak or seafood. Tomahawk goes the distance and pairs the salad and sides with the main focus of the meal or that course. Very accommodating of kids and babies in our party.
J. A.
It's alright. Better than Miller and Carter by miles. But we ordered 4 steaks all at medium and all came different. Tasted good though but can't help but think I could have done just as well at home for half the price.
M. A.
Great place for a treat. Possibly one of the best steaks I've ever had but definitely the best sauce. I chose the 8oz fillet (rare) with peppercorn sauce, beef dripping chips and onion rings. The steak was cooked perfectly, the chips were absolute pedigree, onion rings in light crispy batter and the sauce was superb.
I finished it off with a sticky toffee pudding which was every bit as good as a Cartmel one.
H. B.
So good! Food was delicious and cocktails were amazing! Various offers available like an early bird menu and 2 for £10 on cocktails.
Good for both a nice meal or just relaxing drinks. Great selection of food with large variety and cocktails done properly. Will definitely be back.
k. m.
Lovely place, great oysters and steak and friendly service only minor thing was that the side portions were on the small side but would go back again
S. T.
Sunday lunch is amazing! Had the roast beef, pink, it just melts in the mouth! Plenty on the plate, roast spuds, yorkshire pud in a tiny pan with gravy under it, stuffing and plenty of meat. Veg served separately in side dishes. The cauliflower cheese is soft and gooey! Can't wait to go back.
S. T.
Finished off a 2 night break with our 2 sons with a brilliant meal. Service was exceptional as was the food. Nothing was too much trouble and our waiter was very attentive without being intrusive. A top place we would definitely visit again
P.
Food amazing !!!!! We booked our table for later on in the day and there was a lot of things we were told wasn't available. Service let the experience down a bit .
d. t.
Great food and staff were very friendly recommend it to anyone will defo be back
L. C.
What can I say food was outstanding
Waitress who served us was fantastic such a lovely girl
B. B.
Fantastic steak, chips were really good! Staff were very attentive. Would return here next time I’m in Newcastle
M. S.
There today for the early bird menu.starters of squid and a salad with pita and fresh dips.perfect, squid was tremendous, delicate with not a hint of rubber.
We had rare rump steak and sea bass.perfect again, steak was appointed tender, sea bass lovely and fresh. service matched by the food.great value.nicest steak I've had.will definitely be going again to try one of the big steaks
J. M.
Went here for put first meal out after Quarantine ended and it was nothing short of perfect.
Me and my wife both had the squid started that was some of the nicest squid I've ever eaten.
I then had the Wagyu rump that was worth every penny and by far the most tender meat I've ever eaten, the beef dripping chips were delicious as was the glazed Mac and Cheese.
The Peppercorn Sauce was also lush.
I then had the cookie dough for dessert and Cookie dough has always been a personal favourite of mine and this one didn't disappoint gooey and piping hot all the way through.
Finally the service was astounding and we had our food withings 15 minutes of ordering, not one complaint to be made and I can't wait to head back for some more.
All the stars.
K. G.
Great place to have a proper steak, bit pricey and long waiting time foe order processing but was worth it.
C. B.
Absolutely love dining at this amazing place! It wasn't usually mine or my friends kind of place to eat but the waitress that served us treated is just like everybody else!! Can't recommend this place enough!! You get your money worth and it's so tasty!! Thank you for the spontaneous night!
z. s.
No lager on tap only spa and Guinness. Excuse been great North run and they had ran out. Surely they knew they needed to order more. Waited ages for out desserts very poor service.
C. D.
5-5.
We went last night just me and my wife. For our 31st anniversary.
Location venue excellent. My wife says it was the best steak she has had in any restaurant.
Staff from waitress to bar staff were friendly polite hardworking people.
We look forward to going again in near future.
C. W.
Nephews birthday, steaks were the order of choice and I believe everyone enjoyed their steak , although me personally I was a little disappointed in the sides, hence only 4 🌟. Would recommend. …
F. G.
Steak was very good, one of the better I've had in Newcastle. Got prawns on the side which weren't the best. Waiting staff excellent. Good drink selection and cocktails were nice. Probably a bit overpriced but definitely worth a try.
C. D.
Nice place, friendly staff, tasty food. Will be back.
A.
Birthday celebration of husband and son. Table booked and shown to table on time. Ordered drinks and food and both served quite quick. Meals well presented and steaks cooked as requested, food tasty. Unsure what the service would be like when restaurant busy, visited lunchtime on Bank Holiday Monday and it was quiet.
R. r. 1.
I have since submitting my review below had a reply from Tomahawk restaurant management. The service charge is not mandatory and you can refuse to pay it if you wish...Just a heads up
First time there tonight and no complaints at all. Good welcome, good staff, great service and good food BUT- I found it slightly more expensive than Miller and Carter, also 10% service charge was added to the final bill Just shy of £8 (that’s the customers prerogative, to give or not and how much) a pet hate of mine.
It’s down to personal taste in the end, M&C or Tomahawk, your decision as both are good.
s. d.
Fab food and service - dessert was amazing
N. U.
Love those place, awesome in every way
R. R.
Very good steaks cooked to perfection. Staff is lovely and definitely recommend for a nice meal.
F. A.
Went in for a meal with my partner for my 21st,we had such an amazing time! Food was 10/10, service was perfect and the staff were absolutely lovely. Would definitely recommend and 100% will be going back!
S. F.
The steaks when they arrived (after 45 minutes) were very good and tasty. It appeared to us that they deliberately delay to get you to drink more I have been here a few times now on my travels, it gets better every time. I have Medium Well steaks
P. C.
steak was unbelievably tender and melted in my mouth. The atmosphere is lovely, the service is five star! I had a wonderful night
R.
Enjoyed the food, restaurant looked great. Unfortunately I wasn't very hungry that day so I didn't try their namesake, however if I'm ever back I'll go again.
S. R.
Amazing!!! The meal was Epic!!! The Atmosphere was Fantastic!!! Couldn't fault the young lass and lad the served us!!!
The only thing I would change was the attitude of the the duty manager that told us we had a hour, as she needs the table back but after a horrendous turn of events I bailed from the previous venue and was able to get a table here, but wasn't letting her ruin our experiance.
A. G.
Beautiful food!!!, great atmosphere. Thank you Tomahawk 🙂 …
R. D.
Tried this place for the first time during Restaurant week. We hadn't booked a table and downstairs was full, we were sent upstairs to see if they had space. We were seated but weren't told that upstairs weren't serving the full menu, only restaurant week menu. It wasn't too bad as the NE1 menu was decent, but would have liked the option as it was our first time. Food was decent and the hash brown and mac and cheese sides were a highlight. There was such an uncomfortable atmosphere there too as a few of the tables were so loud, overwhelmingly. It picked up a bit after they left though, not the restaurants fault obv!
First exp may have been a bit soured by circumstance, would maybe try again to see full menu as I was really looking forward to it.
P. W.
Really enjoyed my meal, staff where excellent and attentive, steak was like butter
P. G.
My third time here now, staff as always were brilliant; The atmosphere and the food was great however the fries were over cooked which seems to be a common thing as they have been alone times I've been. Alittle bit on the steep side for prices so not great if you are on a budget however for what you get, I will be back again and again.
L. B.
Absolutely amazing food and service. Best steak I've had.
C. D.
Totally awesome place to be right on the Queside an plenty of choice on the menu definitely recomend going.
B. C.
Fabulous meal in a relaxing environment. Staff were all extremely professional, warm and welcoming. If ever I'm back in Newcastle I'd be sure to visit again.
R. T.
Sunday lunch wagu beef gorgeous
H. C.
Chris the waiter was really helpful when I rang to pay as a surprise for my son and his friend who were celebrating degree results. They had a lovely evening and the food was great they said. Our turn to visit soon. Thanks again Chris 🤗 …
K. R.
Had the best steak in forever! The wagu with the chargrilled prawns is sooooo worth it 😍 Ogna (sorry if I’ve spelt this wrong) was a lovely, attentive server. The cookie dough dessert Is amazing, but definitely recommend you share it because it is so rich …
s. a. f.
Awesome steakhouse that I make sure I visit everytime I'm in Newcastle. Their restaurant week £15 menu is awesome value for money. The quality of steak is superb both on the short menu and the normal one. The staff are super friendly, a pleasurable dining experience.
C. A.
Overrated. I had beef Sunday roast which was £15. The meat was really nice, perfectly cooked. However although I do like al dente veg the carrots and cauliflower was abit too hard. Gravey was too watery and had no flavour. I will come back again but try the steak and some sides. The waitress was lovely and the dessert was the best part, can't go wrong with sticky toffee pud! I thought it was good but I expected more because id been told it's super dooper amazing unreal but it was actually just good.
A. E.
First visit to this restaurant . In this case , you definitely get what you pay for. Tempura prawns and belly pork for starters, the steak sharing platter for mains and cheesecake for dessert . The best steak I've ever had in a restaurant . Absolutely blinds Miller and Carter by a country mile. The staff and our waitress were brilliant and knowledgeable . Yes, it's a bit dearer but if you want a steak for 8 quid then Wetherspoons is a better option ! Will 100 per cent be returning to this restaurant. Nice feeling and ambience
P. K.
An awesome place to visit with a good variety of food that aren't just entirely meat centric. But let's face it you probably wouldn't be there if you weren't after some good steak. Staff are great the decor is modern and a great place for date night! Location is spot on for parking and with plenty of bars to visit post food
S. I.
Lovely atmosphere staff brilliant. Food excellent.
V. C.
Definitely recommend, amazing food, great customer service, if only i didn't live 200 miles away to revisit it would be my favourite restaurant, whenever in the toon its a must ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
C. E.
Excellent service, amazing steak always cooked to perfection. Served by a young lass called Alexandra on the 30th January 2019, very helpful and always made sure we were happy and content with our meal.
Nice little touch at the end of the meal with the bill was a shot glass full of jelly beans A+ for effort. Defo coming back again, best 22nd birthday ever!!!!!!!
R. R.
Popped in on New Year's Eve prior to watching fireworks on quayside. It wasn't busy so easy to get served. Not sure about the pricing of drinks as they seemed expensive. Will need to re-visit to give a better review.
B. F. B. C.
My 7 year old daughter described her food as "a cheesy war zone"
Indeed it was! She had her first parmo on Saturady and loved it! The staff were great and really engaged our kids. Food was great, atmosphere great and the service was excellent.

Gorgeous food, the perfect steak
S. D.

We booked a table for 7pm on Saturday and were given a 2hour slot when we arrive the table was not ready so we had to wait next to the bar but weren't able to order a drink until we sat at the table
The foor was fantastic , when we finished we asked for the bill we paid it and left a tip on table and left, when we got home I checked the bill and was very annoyed that I had been charged a10% tip without being told
E. L.
Pretty good. Service was great but they didn't have the cut of steak I'd chosen. Would certainly go back
K. J.
Lovely staff, great service food was brilliant. Wagu steak was great but normal sirloin just as nice. Would go again
S. B.
Fab experience, I booked the table for 2 o'clock, it was not many tables left. We booked for our anniversary and first time and definitely going back. We shared the steak chateaubriand, medium rare, 4 choices of sides of beef dripping chips, sweet potatoes wedges, creamed peas, coleslaw and a sause of stilton. Excellent, the steak cooked just like the way we asked. Even got a pudding even thought we were stuffed and chose the tomahawk bomb. My only advice is to get the mobiles out when the sauces was poured!! Devine!! The service was exceptional.
D. B.
Amazing food, way better than Miller and Carter's. Highly recommended. The wagu steak is worth the extra if you can afford it
d. s.
Our party had a great night at Tomahawk on Thursday... The restaurant is top notch, love the decor, fantastic atmosphere and the staff where exceptional could not do enough to help and made us all feel very welcome.
Highly recommended and will certainly be back.
Cheers Dan

Good service and drinks. The steak was delicious but the sides were not very tasty.
T. F.
Hands down the best meal I've had (in the UK), went during restaurant week as well so was cheap enough to enjoy even more! However looking at the prices we both agreed we would return and pay them as it was truly phenomenal. We will be back! Thank you tomahawk!!!😍😍 …
P. B.
Great food and great service. Highly reccomend the porterhouse!
J. C.
Really surprised at the quality of the early bird menu. Very much worth a visit if you are eating before 6.30, haven't been after that: looks quite expensive, but setting great, beers good, place is clean and stylish. Not much to grumble at in fact. Recommend
P. S.
Brilliant steaks and service, drinks a reasonable price. Side dishes could be a lot bigger.
A.
Nice but not as fabulous as we were lead to believe, staff were pleasant but asked if we wanted our change.....😳 wouldn't rush back as it's a bit expensive for what turned out to be an ok steak! Drinks were very good 👍 …
S. R.
Very good food and nice atmosphere. Experience only let down by average table service where I had to go and find a staff member for some condiments despite already asking. Overall, good but you pay for it.
G. H.
Food is excellent and I mean really good, maybe this is just my opinion but the atmosphere could be less noisy for where this restaurant positions itself price wise. It would have been a better rating if it were not for the "optional 10% service fee" already put onto the bill. I don't have an issue rewarding good service but feel pressured into paying it to save embarrassment on both sides. Sadly for this reason alone I won't be going back.
U. P.
Food was excellent , staff was friendly. Overall good including toilet, I always think if toilet cleaner kitchen are clean too.
P. G.
Unbelievable steaks and the option for real chips cooked in beef dripping. The only thing stopping it from getting 5 stars is the onion rings which are a bit of a joke - four rings the size of a tea plate - I could just about manage one! Wish I'd ordered two lots of chips instead.
D. S.
Beautiful meal, had the wagyu sharing platter and it was the best steak I have ever tasted. Out server Kirsty was amazing, very knowledgeable and super polite. Hope to return here again soon.
E. C.
Yes it's a little bit more expensive than some steak houses,. However the quality and flavour is amazing. The staff are friendly and attentive and the menu has a good range to suit all pallets.
L. P.
I had a wagyu fillet steak as a treat and it was heaven. Service and food fantastic x
P.
Great steak and great service. Would definitly come back!
M.
Absolutely fantastic. Best steak I've had in a long time. Staff were very friendly and accommodating even with social distancing in place.
D. S.
Very good quality food but it comes at a price. Friendly staff in general even if with a little attitude. Has a general restaurant area plus a side area for private parties. Make sure if you are splitting the bill that they hear you correctly as we got overcharged in a big group as they misheard 50 pence instead of 15. It all adds up!
D. J.
Excellent. Food was delicious and service was excellent. Really good value for money and everything about the evening was great. Would recommend. Prices are good as well for the quality and quantity of food. Top marks.
W. B.
This is a steak lovers place, which also caters for other dietary needs as well. The malbec is a great choice to accompany the steaks and if you have room for a dessert, there is a couple of signature desserts you won't want to miss.
L. D.
Had a wonderful meal, my steak was cooked to perfection, lovely food and a lovely evening
G. F.
Fabulous steak restaurant, great staff, our waitress couldn't do enough for us. We will be back
L. K.
Excellent service steak was perfect
M. S.
Awesome steaks, reasonable prices and friendly helpful service. Had a great time and superb meal.
R. L.
Absolutely fantastic steakhouse that's on the Tyne. Brilliant for a date night or post-match come down. The staff are superb, there's plenty of seating, and it is away from the chaos of town and the university life. Classy or casual, however you like it. Make sure you go!

Excellent food and excellent staff.
K. M.
Bloody brilliant food great staff. I had not booked we went in at about 1845 lady said sorry fully booked but if you could wait an hour or half?? We did and just over hour allocated table but asked if we could vacate by 9 no problem thank you staff managers supervisors everyone at Tomahawk all deserve five stars
N. B.
Enjoyable steak and a nice atmosphere. However let down by the serious lack of desserts
J. W.
Steaks came out a little under cooked on what we asked for but after having them sent back the food was fantastic. Great tasting food and great drinks - definitely worth a visit.
J. K.
Nice view of the Tyne and as much as you can eat. Managed only three plates, was ready to burst.🤪 …
C. D.
Lovely food, brilliant staff, excellent chefs. Top notch food, friendly relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended, thankyou.

R. H.
Best Steakhouse Iv encountered!
Tender, tasty steaks with delicious sides and sauces!
A little expensive but you definitely get what you pay for with this place!
I'd recommend Ribeye 🥩 😍
Service fast and efficient, very friendly staff
K. F.
Early bird - reasonably priced for 2 or 3 course meals before 5.30pm. Steak was amazing and the onion gravy was so tasty. Onion rings huge but amazing.
C. L.
Best cut of beef, delicious
K. B.
This is the second time I've been to Tomahawk. It just gets better, the Steaks we had were amazing. The service was top quality too, the staff were very friendly and efficient.
P. H.
Thought we would try this place out as have been to M&C twice now and although we love that I've heard nothing but good things about Tomahawk. I had squid for starters and it was good. Then 12oz sirloin for main with Diane sauce. That came with sweet pot wedges drizzled in honey and beer battered ring! Eton mess for pud! All washed down with a couple of bottles of Merlot £17 each. I would go back if asked..... however my auntie wasnt keen on her steak as far to much gristle. They knocked 20% of her steak but due to her not liking the main ot kinda spoilt the night as it was her 60th!
I would give 4 out of 5 or 9 out 10 but M&C is better at the same price give or take.
C. S.
This is my favourite steak house! I don’t mind paying more money for a decent steak and they are amazing! Portion size is great and the cocktail range is very good!!!
R. M.
Tomahawk steak wasn't upto what I was expecting. My wife's parmo was good. Our bill had extra drinks on.. staff were friendly. I'll definitely consider going back at some point
S. B.
Came here with a friend and we tried the Hot Shot Chicken Parmesan, asked the waiter if it's a proper Boro Parmo .. he said "yes" it came out with red lecster chease, like minimum beshamel sauce. Like you couldn't even see the bechamel, was weird cause under the chease was sweet Chilli sauce 🤢 ya don't put that on a Parmo man 😂 no peparoni on the hot shot either. Was basically a snizel with chease and chilli sauce underneath the chease with some jalapenos burried in the chease. I get the impression the food in here is of good standards it was nicely presented. But man that has gotta be the worst Parmo I have EVER had. I think I would get a better one in Thailand 😂 honesly think the chef needs to take a trip to Manjaros or it needs taking of the menu cause it does zero justice for this food joint. I was proper gutted as it totally wasn't what I asked. £16.50 isn't cheap and well I would of been more satisfied at Gregg's n I don't like Gregg's 👌
A. C.
Sirloin was unreal. Mac & cheese unreal. Hash Browns & brisket unreal. Garlic butter unreal.
J. E.
Absolutely loved it here. If you like your steak this is a must. Good selection of beers and cocktails as well.
A. W.
One of the best staek restaurants I've been to. Orderd the porterhouse and wasn't disappointed...cooked to perfection and the chef came out to thank me for ordering it and asked me how my meal was!! Service was amazing...will defo come back with friend s 👍👍 …
D. F.

s. M.
Fantastic food, vast menu, great atmosphere in a good location.
A must when in Newcastle!
D. D.
All mains were delicious and service was great, the scallops and blackpudding starter was way overpriced, 5 scallops the size of 10 & 5 pence pieces was not good
j. h.
Service was top notch but food didn't quite step up to the hype.
S. M.
Food was amazing. The staff were perfect, would definitely go back again.
P. k.

W. S.
My wife & I went on Mother's Day with our daughter & her boyfriend, the restaurant was very busy, we all opted for a main course, I chose the traditional Sunday lunch which consisted of sirloin steak, beef dripping roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding & seasonal vegetables & red wine gravy, the steak was cooked to my taste & was delicious, the roast potatoes were devine & the vegetables had plenty flavour, the staff were attentive and professional, I would had given it 5 stars but we had a lengthy wait for our food to arrive, I would definitely recommend and will return in the future...
J. S.

Great food and great service! I went with a chicken kebab with chips and salad. The kebab was tender and the meat was moist, the chips were perfectly crispy, and the salad was perfectly proportioned.

Probably my favourite steak house. Enjoyed the food more than Hawksmoor and its only 2/3 of the price.
