We've eaten at both the restaurant in the Metro Centre & the restaurant in Newcastle. The food is excellent, beautiful flavours and tastes like genuine Italian cooking. The prices are very reasonable and the service is great, friendly and welcoming staff. The photos I've added are the mac & cheese with extra mushrooms...lush. The pasta is a beef, pork & fennel dish, also very tasty. We also got the tomato and garlic ciabatta which was delicious. I can't recommend this place highly enough, we love it and will definitely be coming back.

The quality high and the portion sizes generous for the price. I had the beef shin Ragu with some zucchini fries on the side and a can of San Pellegrino and it came to £14. It was all delicious, past made fresh and the service was excellent. Will visit again when I'm in the North East

Sadly didn’t get a picture of the delicious pasta but the garlic bread definitely lived up to the hype! Staff were really friendly and helpful - would definitely recommend the boozy brunch for the amazing value for money. Only negative would be how insanely cold it was in here - was shivering and wearing a full coat by the end of our brunch.

Amazing food and staff, an absolute dream of a hidden gem in the heart of Newcastle. I ordered the carbonara which was rich and tasty with loads of parmesan cheese on top, my wife had butternut squash and chestnut mushroom ravioli and it was fantastic, the fresh pasta and sauce were to die for. I ordered a side of ndjua and Ragu with sourdough which did come a few minutes after the main arrived but that's ok, it was slightly different to what I expected and ended up being a rich tomato based Ragu with basil leafs and ndjua and lumps of sour dough bread in the sauce too. It was beautiful. The drinks we had were an amaretto and cherry slush and a lemoncello slush, both were amazing and it's the first time we had a straw made of pasta, it did freeze up from time to time but that's ok when the drinks and food were so good. I will definitely be back, and I will tell everyone about this place! Best Italian food we've had outside of Italy!

The best garlic bread in town lives here!! Quick and easy service with kind staff. The beef shin pasta was tasty and rich. The servings look small but definitely get some sides and you'll be fine. Was so full we couldnt get dessert =( next time. We got the shoe string fries, and while they were fine and the chilli mayo was amazing, I personally dont care for shoe string fries because I dont feel like they have flavour, but that's just me. Well priced and good covid measures.

This place popped one day on my feed as a suggestion and this is how we end up planning a trip in Newcastle. The food was absolutely delicious. We had local sourdough bread with olive oil, mozzarella, zucchini shoestrings, and then a HUGE sharer for apparently 2, but really more like 3 or even four people. The sourdough bread was great, super crunchy on outside and fluffy & fresh on the inside. Mozzarella a dream, soft & creamy. The zucchini shoestrings (the dish I wanted to try the most) was a bit of a let down, as they were extremely, but extremely salty. Don't get me wrong, some of them were great, the ones that tastes like zucchini. But salt was overpowering most of the dish sadly, so we left more than half there. On the other hand they are served with some sort of spicy mayo which is tasty & goes perfectly with the dish. The sharer was amazing, I recommend you the truffle potatoes & the garlic bread!!! Absolute winner. The pasta was good as well, very tasty sauce. Oh, drink wise, if you like gin & tonic, try their italian gin. You have 3 types of italian gin to choose from: lemon infused, grapefruit infused and if I am not wrong blood orange. And I almost forgot 😅 the staff was super friendly and helpful, a pleasure to talk/ joke with them. :)

The food is amazing, and the best pasta iv had outside Italy. So only let down by the staff. They could have just done with another hand on deck. The lack of staff meant that things took quite long, and things got forgotten. When we pointed out that we never got the second drinks and they appeared on the bill, they were quite rude. But it was resolved.

Visiting friends in Newcastle for the weekend, they have been raving about this place and it's easy to see why. Absolutely amazing selection of pasta and sides. Incredibly authentic and high quality. Fairly priced. Also have red peroni (the best peroni) alongside a large selection of cocktails. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic meal as excuse to enjoy Newcastle Restaurant Week. Spicy Sausage and Potatoes/Mushroom Crostini and Braised Beef Ragu/Pesto Pasta with cheeky Cherry Tiramisu was phenomenal. The restaurant was quite busy which is always a good sign, the service was excellent, swift and attentive. Can't wait to come again and strongly recommend visiting for either lunch or dinner service.

Great restaurant- have eaten in the city centre and metrocentre branches and never been disappointed. Their cook-at-home kits are also amazing - I love the fact that I can cook restaurant quality pasta at home in 5 minutes! The food is great at both branches, as the service is quick and friendly. I’ve tried a few things on the menu, and they’re all great. Just make sure you get the garlic bread, whatever you order!

It's a cute wee pasta place. My only dislike is that the drinks are served with pasta straws so if you don't like them, just ask the waiters for a normal one. Portions are pretty decently sized, was absolutely stuffed with just the mains.

A lovely straightforward Italian pasta restaurant. They don’t try to do everything, which is a welcome change. Great for a nice lunch out, relaxed date night, or big group dinner. The restaurant itself is an airy space with no stairs (bathrooms on main floor as well), for those with mobility concerns.

This place is so consistent it's crazy. Out of all the new restaurants that started up in 2017, this is the one that I seem to keep constantly going back to, of which I have never had an average experience. The pasta is always beautifully fresh, and sticks to the much needed, sustainable, "no BS" classic, artisan Italian feel. There's a constant variety of ever changing sides and starters that always compliment the experience and the tiramisu was so good, it had me questioning my place in this world. The service has always been wonderful and the value is so good it's actually kind of ridiculous. Please, if you haven't been here yet, go now! (You massive idiot)

I tried the Cacio e pepe pasta and the tomato classic one. Definitely the first is amazing, wish I could tell the same for the tomato sauce pasta but it wasn't so great ( and no classic at all). Despite that I recommend this place for a good and quiete cheap italian pasta! My friend got the Carbonara and it looks amazing too. Super quick service and lovely staff. We stayed over in Newcastle City Centre for Ben’s birthday recently and I wanted to take him somewhere highly recommended by foodies in Newcastle and this place came up a few times! I had expected more of a formal restaurant for some reason but was actually pleasantly surprised by it’s simplicity and relaxed atmosphere. If anyone has been to Sarto in Leeds before, it is very similar to that. Here the décor is very casual with a bar in the middle and an open kitchen, the dining area being an open, bright space with simple wooden dining furniture. The menu here isn’t vast but is concise and focuses on quality flavours and ingredients, enabling them to produce fresh, affordable and traditional pasta dishes on a daily basis. Golden hand-rolled egg pasta is made fresh and hand-rolled every day at Zucchini. Onto our food… As we were going “out out” after our meal, we decided just to stick to main meals and no starters. I went for – Pappardelle Tuscan Lamb & Orange Ragu – Roast Lamb Shoulder, garlic, plum tomato, roast carrot & orange zest. I thought it stood out as a little different with the orange on there. The subtle taste of orange really helped the dish stand out and it was refreshing and delicious. Just the right amount of each ingredient and a filling enough main dish. Ben went for – Fettuccine Spicy Sausage, Tomato & Nduja Ragu – Italian pork & fennel sausage, crispy sourdough crumb, Calabrian nduja & tomato. A firm favourite of ours with the sausage meat and a little bit of a kick to it. This as rich and mouth-watering. We also got a side of Burrata, tomato nduja sugo & sourdough bread which I expected to be crusty bread to dip in but the bread was baked in the sauce which made it soak it all up and was actually surprisingly enjoyable but just a warning for anyone who doesn’t enjoy the texture of “soggy” bread. I washed this down with a few refreshing cocktails of course! Pasta dishes are anywhere between £6.50 – £10 and they have gluten free and vegan friendly pasta available too.

I'd been told this place was good, and they weren't exaggerating. Firstly the service was impeccable from attentive, friendly staff who made you feel at home as soon as you walked in. The food was exceptional - we had a sharing platter and pasta of course. Everything was so fresh and meals are brought out as soon as they are ready (a bit like Tapas) rather than having a clear break between starters and main. We even found room for a dessert and my wife and daughter really enjoyed the cocktails. It won't be our last visit I'm sure.

A pleasant, friendly and contemporary pasta restaurant. Nice fresh pasta and hearty sides. Great kids menu with large (r than adult) portions. Lost a star only because the flavours were a little soft and lost at times. The truffle potatoes were nice but the truffle was lost and the lamb papardelle was lovely but missed a spark. Still, very good.

Great staff, great tasting food We had a great meal here at the Zucchini pasta bar, there were two wait staff and both were really nice and friendly. The food (we had the sharing platter two) was beautiful and we couldn't even fit another morsel in. The cocktail my wife had was made better than most "cocktail" bars in this country, she had the Hugo elderflower cocktail. The house red wine I had was nice and not over priced. I would like to come back here again if given the chance but definitely would recommend locals to do so. All staff had face coverings on which in the current climate made us feel safe and comfortable in dining here. Only one quiff we had was that we couldn't take away the dessert my wife would have liked because it was not on the take-away menu... Oh well... Just have to have it next time we visit the northeast.

Love this place! Have visited three times, and each has been excellent. The quality of the food is excellent. The menu isn't extensive, but it doesn't need to be when the dishes and ingredients are as good as they are here. Dishes are quite simple, traditional Italian pasta, made very well. The portions can look a little small when they arrive but it soon becomes apparent that they are actually perfect! Considering the quality of the food here, and for being in the centre of town, the prices are incredibly good value. Much cheaper than any of the chain 'Italian' restaurants and much better quality than other cheap local establishments. If you haven't been here yet - go today!

Good service but I didn't like the atmosphere, it's all hard surfaces so, even at half full, the place was deafeningly loud. The food: there were some interesting choices but the fresh pasta, which is basically what the place is about, had pretty much turned into a lump on the plate and wasn't like anything I've ever had in Italy. My partner did enjoy it though so an extra star for that.

The food was great and very fresh but I felt as if the new restrictions surrounding coronavirus weren't totally followed. The hand sanitizer was empty and no contact tracing. The tables quite close together and it is a fairly large restaurant. We were also told to leave an hour after we arrived as the table was booked after us, they should have told us this when we arrived how much time we had allotted to us! Luckily the good food and cheap price made up for some this but I felt as though safety had been somewhat neglected.

The restaurant is modern and minimalist with hard chairs. A waiter took our order quickly after we sat at our table and we had our pasta and sides within 5 mins after ordering. It was really fast. The pasta was really good. You could tell they are made there. And the sauces were delicious! You could feel the garlic and the pepper and everything - not bought from supermarket. I'd go there again!

I ordered a pasta dish to take out and I was really impressed. Prices and portions are very reasonable and the food was fantastic. I had the tagliatelle pomodoro which was a really well balanced mix of tomato, garlic, al dente pasta, and a breadcrumb topping with lemon zest. The restaurant itself is nicely finished with wood, concrete and glass being the predominant materials on show. Staff were friendly, the service was quick, and the music was good. If you're not familiar with where it is, it's really very close to the centre of Newcastle and well worth the detour.

We are at Zucchini 6th August, the food was fabulous and prices sensible. I'm scoring down because the interior is a little hard and unwelcoming but mainly because the service was dreadful - the two staff that "served" us would clearly have preferred to be anywhere else than in the restaurant that evening. Real shame.

I was in Newcastle on business and had a limited time for dinner before my performance at the Sage, Gateshead. Stumbled upon this fantastic little eatery. Great simple menu, 7 or 8 pasta dishes to choose from. I went for the carbonara with a starter of sourdough and Olive oil and a glass of the house red. Fabulous sour dough bread made by a local retired baker who makes for a few local restaurants in his retirement. The pasta was great and the carbonara deliciously flavoured with crunchy pancetta and rich with Parmesan and the wine was tasty. Great service and really quick too. Highly recommended and would visit again next time I’m in Newcastle/Gateshead.

I was a little underwhelmed. The menu looked great promising a pack of flavour but the product was a small pile of gloop. I ordered mussels, garlic and zucchini pasta. A small flat plate arrived with a dollop of incredibly garlicky pasta and miniscule bits of chopped up mussels, totally overwhelmed by the pasta. The chefs looked a bit bored and were standing scrolling through their phones in the open kitchen. However, the cherry amaretto sour slushie was delicious, as were the chocolate truffles. Make the pasta your star. Serve it in bowls and put some love in it. And some proper Shetland mussels as the menu said.

One of my favourite places in Newcastle. Pasta is consistently fresh & delicious. Reasonably priced also at around £9-£11 depending on what you get with it. They also do excellent frozen amaretto slushes which are well worth it!

The pastas here that we've tried have been very tasty, and also highly recommend the garlic bread and the potatoes (bonus- if they have the cherry frozen cocktail on while you're here, that's also lovely).
