This place is always a pleasant experience. I've been here for food a few times, it's absolutely delicious and way above normal pub standard food. We came the other day and it was really busy, the bar staff told us it would probably be up to an hour for food, but that wasn't a problem, we expected to be waiting when we saw how busy it was. Unfortunately they had ran out of several drinks I asked for which was a little frustrating. The food then arrived and it was alright. I think because of how busy it was they were struggling in the kitchen to keep up and it effected the quality of food. It was a shame as normally the food here is excellent. I'm not saying it was bad but just not up to their normal standards. However I can't really complain because we had a 50% off main meals, so two of us had large platters that only cost £6 in the end. So despite my slight complaints I would still strongly recommend visiting the Haywain, I'm sure if it's not as busy you'll be pleasantly suprised by the food.

Been coming here for years with my mates. Great food at a great price, and a good selection of beers, lagers and wines etc, to quench your thirst. We enjoy eating here, drinking here, playing pool (£1 a go), playing cards, sitting in the garden area and in the 3 different rooms they have. The staff are always friendly and attentive. Couldn't be better, and so far (fingers crossed) haven't had a negative thing to save about them. Keep it up!!

One of the few pubs that is still operating in Caldicot. A lovely family pub with a bar for the younger group. If you are new to the area, buy a beer and make a lot of honest friends. Friendly staff and the best punters in town.

Rated due to value for money. Well priced, decent quantity and quality of food. Polite staff. Needs a bit of furnishing as rather bare, and either a good clean or cleaning liquids changed, every surface I touched, bar, table, doors were all relatively sticky. I'm surprised they're not being more pro-active in still trying to seat people a good distance away, loads of empty tables and the few people inside were all seated by staff central of the room. No criticism of the service or food though. All in all a good experience!

Dine-in recently. Initially tried to book a table online but was redirected to ring the pub but when you ring the pub it ask you to book online or try again. After spending about several hours to ringing with the same answerphone message, I gave up. We just turned up. It wasn't busy, with a few reserved table for some 4-5 hrs ahead. Btw, the number to ring apparently doesn't work, how many missed booking would it before? Food was ordered at the bar and we didn't have to wait long. Good value for money but chips was a bit over done. Its one of very few local pub staff are friendly so will go again to keep the business.

Have been there for a few meals recently. The set up for covid is spot on - u feel safe but still have the feeling of being looked after and appreciated!! The food has also been amazing!! I visited about 5:30 p.m. it was nice and quiet, no children. Even the food was good. I would recommend this pub as a quick drop and eat. Although the food is not up market cuisine, it can still occasionally surprise.

I dine here once a week, staff are always friendly and helpful. They come to check the food is good, if you ordered any. There are a wide variety of choices on the menu and the food is great. Small meals and larger meals (for the bigger appetite) are offered here. Plenty of tables for those just swinging by last minute. Only need to reserve if dining in larger groups of 10 or more. Menu choices are revised to bring something new sporadically, keeps the tastebuds coming back for more!

Great food at a great price with really helpful staff. Please please change the old discussing handles from the toilets back into the main bar. You need some large ones fitted that can be wiped down with more hygiene as the small household one in please at present get really stick with people going back and forth to the wash rooms :-( Other than that 5 starts for service and outstanding staff.

First let me say the staff is very friendly and helpful. They know their beers and alcohol very well. That said, knowing the beers they have in stock shouldn't be difficult because the selection is limited. The atmosphere is quiet, and there are plenty of televised events playing. I can not say anything about the food as I did not order, nor look at a menu.
