Visited with a large group of friends. Our food was ordered in advance and was ready all at the same time, nice and hot. Vegetable jalfrezi was delicious (they checked it was dairy free for me). They also have a sign up saying to inform them of any food allergies/dietary requirements so they seem happy to accommodate this. Service was fantastic and very friendly. The meal was for a friend leaving and they brought out a chocolate cake at the end which was a lovely touch. They were also very generous with the poppodoms and dips at the beginning of the meal. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is there was some confusion over the bill at the end because we all paid separately, some in cash, some on cards. It was just an error (something hadn't been written down I think?) and it was all resolved within a few minutes. I realise it can be a pain with a large group like that but this is really the only constructive feedback I can give for the staff to be aware of, everything else was good. As well as our group, they were also serving others in the restaurant and people collecting takeaways. Overall, a lovely night out, great food and service, I would definitely return. I thought the prices were also very competitive.

Good meal - lamb tikka starter followed by chicken monipuri - which was very tasty. The decor is basic but good food and service excellent. Situated close to Newport Centre and not far from Friars Walk. On street parking is limited but large multi storey just across the road. Would definitely recommend a visit if you enjoy a good curry.

I have been eating from this restaurant for over 50 years I have never been able to get a better Curry from anywhere I've been and that includes my travels all over European countries. Went for a Birthday meal here on 22/06/2019, I had grown up hearing stories about this place from my Uncle who used to eat here in the 70's and 80's. That is how long it has been around, if you want they can cook most dishes to the original recipe they served back then. I find them to oily and stick to the contemporary but would recommend they be tried. Staff friendly and the food was excellent. Will definitely go back again.

Having been to the restaurant a couple of time previously...it was high on my list of booking for my wife's birthday. Service was impeccable as always and the food was unbelievable! Tasty and just cooked to perfection. Having mentioned in an email about my mom's birthday celebrations a few days previously, the table was decorated with decorations and also a card for my mom. This was a great touch by the management and staff and to top it off they gave my wife a complimentary bottle of red wine...first class service and exquisite cuisine. It's the best sit down inidan cuisine restaurant in South Wales. Thanks for a memorable evening

A large table of 10, we were looked after exceptionally well by the friendly staff. Absolutely faultless service. The food was also top notch. Fantastic flavours and my lamb was succulent and tender without a bit of fat on it. All in all, a great time.

Had my birthday here on the 26th of October, I had a booking at 19.00 and needed to push the table back an hour. Rang and got a great response o the phone and they were happy to do so. Got to the restaurant and they decorated the table and I was welcomed with smiles and great conversation. Food was the icing on the cake as it was great tasting full of flavor,spice,heat and colour. Service was well above par and I will defo recommend and be back here soon. I was also given a card chocolates and bottle for my birthday! So generous.. Many thanks Nathan

First time visit for me. Very warm welcome, clean and very attractive restaurant. Menu was very varied and some interesting dishes. The portion sizes were good and all four of us were impressed and would definitely come again.

Excellent curry. We had a takeaway and it was delivered in a timely manner, the curries (Korma and Madras) were really tasty, popodoms lovely and light and the chunky chips were a nice change. This was a sense of normality in difficult times.

I took two guests with me on the evening of 14th April and had a great experience at this restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive, while the food was top class throughout the evening. Still the best Indian restaurant that I have been to in South Wales. Highly recommended!

We have visited the Lahore before so we were expecting good food and again we're not disappointed. It's not the easiest place to find but well worth the effort. Don't be put off by the surrounding area as this place is spotless inside . We thoroughly enjoyed our meal which was plentiful, tasty and not expensive. We look forward to our next visit.

Newport's oldest Indian restaurant was a great choice. Good tasty food, cooked in a choice of traditional (pre 1960) or more modern style. The staff were friendly and attentive. Well worth a visit.

For Asian food it was quite bland even though we asked staff to make it medium spicy. Food was overall ok but little taste. Service provided by staff was good.They were responsive and courteous. They had no marking thst food was halal, but up in asking they confirmed. We were a party of 6 (2 adults and 4 children (8-14) and forvthe price we paid there was good quantity of food. Place was nice and clean though the furniture was quite dated where we sat. Parking was a bit of an issue as there wasn't any marked bays, however we risked parking in the closest residents parking. Luckily we weren't fined as we parked after 830pm on a Friday evening

Lucky to got free parking space around the corner. Staff need to improve themselves. They ve taken an hour to serve the food, despite requesting them for early food. Food was fresh but out of taste. Asked them chips and a chicken but they gave us niblet and chips. They ve only one toilet for both male and female. And it was dirty.

Had an absolutely amazing evening @ the Lahore restaurant newport with my nearests and dearests, made even better with the reception/service we received throughout our evening from the entire serving crew...especially our waiter (first night on the job i might add) talk about having a sense of humour:-) the banter and service from everyone really did turn a fab evening into a perfect one! evening had a surprise rose with the receipt! and the food was absolutely amazing too! thanks Sayeed for my running out with my almost forgotten doggy bag!wwill definitely return! !!
