An amazing sea-side restaurant that serves locally sourced seafood in Newquay. We came here for dinner during our visit in Cornwall in the late November. Although in the low tourist season, the restaurant was fully booked on the Monday evening. Luckily, we booked in advance, so highly recommend to plan ahead your visit. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant is cutely decorated. There’s enough space between neighbouring tables, so you won’t overhear other’s conversations involuntarily. The food was great - I can tell all the seafood was very fresh and at good quality. The downside was the main dish - the hake with mashed potatoes was a bit too salty for me, but I still enjoyed it with the seasonal vegetables to balance off. My favourite was the seafood sharing platter and the dessert - vanilla pans cotta. High recommend for anyone visiting Newquay and will visit again!

Amazing local seafood cooked with passion you can taste! Excellent servers with the perfect balance of attentiveness but leaving you to enjoy the flavours whizzing around your palette! All served in a great location with beach views to blow your mind! 10/10 would highly recommend and can’t wait to return soon!

This place is by far and away the best place to eat out in Newquay!.. absolutely beautiful food with the best views (if you’re there in the light.) Staff are lovely and so helpful. Went there for an anniversary meal (as we always do) and it did not disappoint. Absolutely delicious starter of scallops with a cauliflower purée. Then a beautiful piece of hake for main. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection; and they have the right balance of keeping the food interesting, but not being different just for the sake of it. If they do something unusual with the food it’s because it works! The atmosphere is great as well. The only down side I would say is, as a local it’s been impossible to get into(had to book 8 weeks in advance and even then the only table was 9 pm! (I understand that’s not their fault for being so popular but I wish there was some way they could keep some tables back to give locals priority on, maybe until a week before and then open them up?) And the new booking system is a bit of a nightmare, I appreciate it’s probably much easier for them but I’ve got say prefer being able to phone up or walk in and book. But still a top top restaurant

Front of house really welcoming, extremely busy so recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment, mains absolutely delicious, fresh and excellent quality, if was going to be picky the roast hotpot shared starter nice but crab was dry and not easy to eat, muscles a bit hit and miss (too much oil) scallop and prawn stunning. Overall all round lovely setting on a summers night with friendly atmosphere. Excellent customer service, staff really take time, care and attention to your best experience. If suffering food intolerances i.e. wheat or gluten there is limited or no bread or pasta free from alternatives as options which was a surprise.

Best fish ever, the sole was tasty, delicate dressing, all over amazing! Kind service, lovely spot to enjoy the sunset 🌅 from the outdoor tables. The only detail I would improve is coffee, which should try to taste like an espresso, but I’m really demanding 😉Anyway, I enjoyed my lemonade and hope to be back soon.

A fantastic restaurant overlooking Fistral Beach, offering refined fish dishes. We arrived early evening, in October, without a booking and the staff accommodated the five of us on the tables outside the restaurant. This allowed is to eat in the open air, under warm blue skies. I chose pan-fried scallops with pancetta and cauliflower puree, followed by skewered monkfish on carrot & ginger with rice and dipping sauce. Both dishes were beautifully cooked and well balanced. My companions enjoyed their dishes, and finished with local ice cream (Callesticks Farm). As the sun went in it became quite cold and the restaurant staff offered blankets if needed. Excellent service and food!

A firm favourite of mine before lockdown, two years on it’s the first time i’ve been able to visit again. My husband managed to get a table which are very highly sort after as a surprise for me as i’d tried all week to get in without much luck. First time he’d tried it, so glad that after 2 years they are still bossing lin Newquay, he was so impressed and my tales of this amazing restaurant he could finally see for himself. Attentive staff, food so delicious it’s ridiculous. We asked for more stock on our hot shell, no problem. Walk past or have a peek in from 10am, you’ll see and smell how hard these guys work to provide such a perfect meal. Best restaurant for us in Cornwall, hands down

One of the best fish meals we have ever had! The shellfish hot platter is to die for. We had it as a starter. For mains I had the prawn and crab linguini which was delicious. My wife had the monkfish in an Asiatic flavour, the monkfish was perfect and the flavours went well with the fish. Finished with a pannacotta, which had the perfect wobble. (And taste!). Excellent and very friendly service. If you love fish, this is a must-visit place. Just make sure you book in time! The wine list is limited but has the right choices to match the dishes.

We ate here last Thursday, even though we had a reservation inside, they were very accommodating in giving us a table outside. The food was fantastic, my partner had the hake specials starter and I had the roasted hotshell starter. For mains my partner has the whole plaice and I had the lobster special. This was probably the best lobster I've had in a while. Highly would recommend booking this place if anyone fancies seafood in Newquay!

Booked a couple of weeks in advance for lunch in early November. Scored a perfect, late autumn day with blue skies and a table for 2 on the terrace ☀️ by the toilet 😀 great for watching people in masks doing stupid things, unable to read a sign or walk in a circle 😁 Lunch was delicious; washed down with a couple of local Skinners Porthlevan Pale Ale.

The Fish House at Fistral Beach is fairly close to perfection. Amazing food and an outside eating area overlooking the beach and perfect for catching the sunset. Our second visit having returned to Newquay two years running and they are just as wonderful as I remember. For starter we shared a hot platter, including without doubt the best crab cakes I have ever tasted. For main I was lucky enough to get the last of the specials; Turbot and mussels with asparagus and potatoes all in a gorgeous buttery sauce, oh my god! They are dog friendly at lunchtime, which was great for us. Staff knowledgeable nd very enthusiastic about their food. Love this place!

Incredible food and service. Expensive but feels great to pay a lot for something and it actually turns out really good... feels well worth it. Took our dog. Got an amazing sunset. Went for dinner, nice eve and nice fairly small inside and seating outside but too cool an eve so we had booked a table in side we did this before we came on hols. Starters very good, but I had the special fish of the day and I was disappointed it was turbot but I found the fish bland, it was served with plain New potatoes and broccoli spears but apart from a butter and capper sauce for the price of 29 pounds not special which was a shame as other meals looked so much better and better presented, my husband had crab linguine as was happy with the dish. It has a very good reputation so I was unlucky

Superb fish restaurant combining the freshest Cornish fish with Asian flavours. Ordered the Frito misto which came coriander coated and with lovely chilli sauce. For main the fish curry was great as was the tempura cod. Great design and service. Great restaurant!

Delicious food, excellent and friendly service. I'm a strange audience for this restaurant as I don't eat seafood, but the steak was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. Better then a few of the top rated steak houses I've tried in london. My partner had the shell fish platter and was blown away with it. Will definitely try to go back here when we're back in Cornwall next year. 5/5 highly recommended for a perfect evening!

This place is difficult to get a table as it’s so small but if you can get one you won’t regret it. The food is delicious, all 3 of us had the cod and prawn chowder to start and it was sooo tasty. Following the starter our party had a Hake dish , a monkfish dish and battered fish and chips which we all enjoyed. Would highly recommend, well done, the team certainly know how food should be.

The quality of Paul's food - to say nothing of the lovely informal ambience and amazing view over the sea - is nothing short of 'off the scale'. We arrived late in Newquay and rocked up to this lovely restaurant thinking they were fully booked which they were, but someone had not shown up. The staff and super friendly and provide a friendly, natural and professional service, the food is beautiful and the chefs make amazing food and run a slick kitchen. The Sri Lankan curry was perfect as was the whole experience. We liked it so much that we put ourselves on a reserve list so we can go there again this evening! Oh and the view over Fistral and the surf is also perfect.

Always with a smile. We live around the Newquay area and this is one of our most favorite places to go have a special meal. Paul & Elise are so welcoming to everyone and no matter how busy they are it's always served up with a smile as well as being very attentive. The combinations of flavours Paul and his Soux chef's make are uniquely served up with the very fresh seafood ! Small little place next to the ever disappointing Rick Steins (which was woeful) The food was good but let down by over seasoning. If you like a lot of salt you won't be disappointed. My mussels were superb till I got to the liquor. Too much salt spoilt it for me. Friendly service. Would it stop me from returning? No I'd just ask Chef for less salt.

One of my favourite meals I’ve ever had. From starters through to the dessert it was all absolutely delicious. Visited here myself and was never rushed to order or to leave, allowed to sit and have some wine after the meal too and was never overly bothered by the staff at any point. The starter especially, the Korean monkfish, was incredible and would thoroughly recommend. The restaurant is maybe a bit above average in terms of price but it was all absolutely worth it and the next time I’m visiting Cornwall I’ll be sure to come back again.

We loved the fish house! It has an open kitchen so you can watch the chefs preparing your food. Our waitress was brilliant and the views of the bay were spectacular. Booking in advance is a must, as you don't want to miss out. We got a sharing platter for 2, calamari and Greek salad, bread with oil, hand cut chips, and crushed potatoes with comfy garlic. We visited The Fish House this past week for my partner's birthday. We really enjoyed ourselves and the food was absolutely delicious. Fish restaurants are never usually our 'go-to' eatery of choice but given the already impressive reviews of this establishment, I thought they would suit the occasion and boy did they live up to expectation. Our waitress was very attentive and having emailed in ahead of time, they gave my partner a welcoming birthday greet as though they already knew which was a nice surprise and a little dessert board with candles on at the end. We took our 5 yr old girls and even their pasta dish was lovely and we were welcomed with children. The restaurant is relaxed with a nice atmosphere, you'll find a mixed bag of people (and pooches), although there aren't many tables here. If I had one criticism, I'd say the service was a little too prompt. We basically did a three course meal in an hour and 15, that said, the restaurant wasn't full at the time we ate (5pm table), but a little extra time between courses would have been nice. I'd definitely visit again, without a question.

Lunch. With a beautiful view of Fistral Beach. We have been wanting to dine here for years. On numerous visits to the beach we had never managed to get in. Either we were too early or too late. Or the biggest stumbling block,they were fully booked. This time we made sure to make a reservation. . On arrival we were seated outside on the terrace with our two doggies.The weather wasn't great and turned a little windy and overcast. Luckily a table inside had come free,so we moved inside. They specialise in,you've guessed it,well the name gives it away. The menu is perfect for seafood lovers and the choices are mesmerizing. Shall we just have a taster? or go all-in. . Yes we went for it.How could we resist as it took us so long to actually get to this stage. We started with three plates, Scallops obviously. Korean fried monkfish,oh my word this was so sticky and delicious.You can have this dish as a main too,but if you did that, it would probably defeat you. Off the specials board Skewered Tiger Prawns. We'll just let the pic of them do the talking. For mains Crab and tiger prawn linguine with chilli, garlic, white wine, cherry tomatoes and pangrattato. Another special off the board a lovely Fillet of Halibut served with new potatoes. Everything was cooked fresh to order and well worth the wait. We were absolutely stuffed and lets just say we didn't have dinner later.

The food however in my opinion is decidedly average, it's good enough, but far from brilliant - certainly at this price point. For example, squid and scallops seemed over-cooked and mussels lacking in flavour. Overall left underwhelmed and mildly disappointed. Perhaps though it's just me given all the great reviews 🤷‍♂️.

One of those restaurants that isn’t trying to be too fancy and fussy with their food, they just cook really good quality food and keep it interesting with different types of dishes. Partner had same starter as me.. Also had the mains special... hake and hot tartar. Again absolutely perfect. The fish was cooked impeccably. My sister loves this restaurant so booked a table for 4 last Sunday evening. The waiter and our food were superb, however, the manager needs to learn a few manners. Our table was booked for 4 people (we had the email as proof) but the manager had only set a table for 2 so created a fuss about adding 2 seats. When she was shown the booking confirmation she refused to apologise for her rudeness. We went with my sisters dog and the manager said they don't allow dogs in the restaurant. After having been there several times with her dog, my sister did query this. Apparently after 4.30pm the restaurant isn't "dog friendly". The website does say this, but your booking confirmation doesn't, nor does it state that dogs ARENT allowed. My sister, ever so slightly loosing the will to live, as she had raved so much about the place to me, rolled her eyes at the manager, who promptly pulled her up on it! I was ready to leave as the manager was clearly having a bad day and clearly didn't want us in the restaurant. However, her waiter and kitchen staff salvaged the evening. I wouldn't return because she was so rude, however, the food was lovely, just be prepared for a cold welcome at the door!!

Visited on June 18, 2017 Yes, the quality of the food was good. But that alone doesn't make a good restaurant experience for us. This also includes good and attentive service. We missed him more than anything. No reference to the daily recommendations, no wine service. The wine was too warm and a warning to that effect was ignored. No additional plate for the bones (whole fish with head and everything). With three service employees and a service manager, the restaurant was extremely well staffed given its size. One could also expect that the service manager would sometimes ask how her guests are doing even if she is not actively involved in service. None. Overall, the service makes an uninspired, arrogant impression. We went to the Boathouse two evenings before - twice in a row because we were so excited. We can only warmly recommend it. Maybe not that special, but extremely good, fresh products and a friendly, interested staff. We were happy to give a good tip here. We would have liked to give our feedback to the service manager personally, but after 10 p.m. she was no longer visible.

A hidden gem in Fistral beach bar which is worth every penny of the slightly higher price tag. The menu is varied and a fish/seafood lover’s favourite with great specials too. The mussels were tasty, plump and the sauce was delicious. The sea bass was equally brilliant with the fennel purée tying the whole dish together. My partner had the prawn and crab linguine which was fresh, delicious and perfectly cooked - portion of crab in linguine’s is typically an issue but not here! The portion sizes were generous and as such we unfortunately missed out on dessert but saw other diners enjoying a variety of sweet treats which looked great. Would 100% recommend and will go again next time we’re in Newquay

A small but very cozy restaurant on the shore of an amazing beach. We came unexpectedly and did not book a table (although we should have). We asked to be placed on the street overlooking the beach, a table was prepared for us, blankets were given and our order was taken. As soon as the food was ready and served to the table, it started to rain. We were very lucky that at that moment a table inside became available, and we were quickly moved, for which I sincerely thank you. Exceptional, as always. Easily the best evening restaurant in the local area, definitely when it comes to the food quality equating to the price tag which not many seem to manage of late. They were kind enough to allow me to have a table for one on a busy sunny evening, and it was the last one available, which they really didnt have to do as they could have filled it twelve times over but it was very much appreciated. I also work in the local hospitality industry and can completely respect how hard the front of house staff and the chefs are working to achieve the level of food and service they provide, especially to such an incredible standard, in such a small space, with such a high turnover. After some of the experiences I have had in local dining over the last 12 months, I kinda wanted to high five them all on the way out! If you can get a table, do. You won't regret it.

Fabulous! We return to The Fish House 8-10 x year because it is simply the best. This is in terms of menu choice, quality , ambiance, service and value. They are often fully booked so we have to go elsewhere but nowhere is as good, and we have tried all alternatives from Port Gaverne, through the big names in Padstow to St Agnes. Great to have the kitchen as such an integral part of the restaurant too.
