Lovely country pub in a traditional Northants village. Northants orange stone on the outside and low ceilings with lots of wood and nooks and crannies.A stone archway opens into a walled courtyard, perfect for a summer day. There is a separate garden at the back with nice tables and benches. Service was quick and friendly. Haven't eaten there yet so can't comment on the food. Good for a.country club choice.

Lovely 400 year old pub with loads of character and food was good too Will definitely go back and it is a 70 mile round trip for us!! 👍👍

Can never ever fault this place. Staff and food are amazing. Saturday was so busy but received our food within half an hour. Definitely recommend the Lamb shank and chocolate brownie. YUMMY

Beautiful and expansive outdoor area with spaced out seating for a comfortable drink or meal. Delicious menu and very friendly staff. Highly recommend.

Brill food , fantastic historical pub

Lovely pub to finish a walk around the local area or just visit for a pint. Friendly staff who are happy to help your choice of beer with a little tester.
Lunch meals and sandwiches excellent quality and very competitively priced like the bar. Sometimes difficult to get a seat although in summer there is a nice outside area.
Good sized car park, dogs allowed into the bar and a lovely fire place. Something for everyone at the inn.

Called in for a beer but decided to have a look at the menu 1st. Very cosy atmosphere & prices & service was excellent. Sunday roast beef very good but you must try their orange flavor bread & butter pudding, this was amazing. We were so impressed we even got to speak to the chief & he talked us through his recipe. You don't get this level of friendliness at your average pub. I seriously recommend this pub.

Visited for my sister in law's birthday. It was my first ever visit to the pub.
Lovely lady told us of the history of the pub, it is celebrating it's 400th year this year Food was excellent we enjoyed a fabulous Sunday definitely will be visiting again.

Really lovely Pub.
Atmosphere is always warm and welcoming.
Food is home cooked and I've always left feeling like I've eaten well.
Have been before and will go again, think that says enough...

Had a nice relaxing drink here in the large garden courtyard area didn't eat but the beer and wine was good. Not the most welcoming bar staff member...... Maybe was having a bad day but a smile or some form of friendly communication would have been nice. We will return though as it is a nice relaxing place and we enjoyed sitting outside.

Very old world traditional. I had a lovely ploughman.
Service was a but slow out of the kitchen and there were only a few table taken. I feel it could be a problem during busy times. Maybe just give yourself more time.
It has a really nice courtyard and garden.

Always good. I'm a local and I've seen it change hands a few times as all pubs do. But the place itself, the atmosphere, the location and the ambience always stays the same. The chef is excellent so the food is always good and the staff are friendly. Full marks. Nina

Always worth a visit.
Love the secluded garden in the summer
Good choice of beers and lager.
Food is ok as you would expect from this establishment.
Friendly staff and reasonable service.
A bit pricey but then you get what you pay for.
Good parking facilities.
Family friendly.
I will visit again.
From captain quick.

Lovely historic pub near the home where Princess Diana grew up ! .. Not good for wheelchair users but on a nice day they can can get into the outside space . Does great food and the staff are very helpful. It's does get quite busy at times .

Amazing food. Amazing place had our sons wedding here Sat eve. Fantastic staff. Special thanks to jackie who made the day amazing. Couldn't have done enough for us. Would definitely recommend for food or for a fantastic wedding venue. Thanks

Loved it. A really 6ood English pub with great food.
S. B.
Lovely atmospheric old place. Big wood burner pumping out heat. I had a mushroom risotto starter which was small but very tasty. The paninis were a good size. Overall pretty good.
B. F.
Beautiful village and the pub has preserved its exterior. Inside it's lost most of its original features and is defined by stuck-on beams and bits of tat. Lovely beer gardens with shaded bits which is great. Food was average on our trip. Scotch eggs were overcooked and the egg was rubbery. The roast beef was also overcooked and the roast potatoes were enormous, not crispy, and resembled the sort one gets at school dinners. Nice ales on tap.

I'm honestly in love with this place 😍 Proper english vintage style. I could spend an entire day there. Just walking around exploring all different but in the same time similar rooms. And staff is very friendly. Lovely food. Can't wait to visit this place again!
M. P.
What a great atmosphere this old pub has. The staff are really welcoming, and there's a fine selection of food and real ale on offer. Prices are reasonable, and we all left happy.

Fantastic looking coaching inn/pub inside and out. We only visited for a quick drink a bite to eat. It's a very welcoming and warm pub that I felt right at home in. Pleasant staff and the panini was just what we needed. Worth a visit, or quick stop before visiting Althorp House. (which was actually closed at this time of year)
A. T.
Loved it! - great place amazing staff, they let me play a few more songs (encore) and leave the equipment overnight without complaining that's rare for a venue. They put customers first - how it should be! well done guys. AK Discos. x
E. L.
Lot of atmosphere, meal was pre ordered and as we had some no- shows there was a degree of flexibility shown. However, there were a number of mistakes. I wasn't responsible for the bill but it was commented on how reasonable it was.
K. W.
The most beautiful pub you could ever visit! Everyone is so friendly and the food is fantastic! The one place I can go and feel at my happiest! I highly recommend.
K. M.
Gorgeous dark interior with a log fire and nice bar staff. Good food. Menu needs to embrace gluten free however I ate well on what I chose.
S. P.
Another amazing pub with fantastic grub. This is truly one of the Olde Worlde pubs with atmosphere and traditional interiors set in an Englyshe Village. You don't want to miss this in your journeys fir fine food and great places to visit.
J. C.
Food okay but the table that we eventually sat down was very dirty and there was also glitter on it. I wiped my napkin on the table it was black, that's why I have given a lower rating.

Really nice village pub thats all oak beams and real fire but not in a fake way. The buildings hundreds of years old. Lovely atmosphere and food was lovely too. Definately worth a visit.
C. S.
Great menu, dog and human friendly 👍🏻
D. S.
Food only ok,had roast beef and the meat was lovely but Yorkshire like a crispbread.service not.good.waited 1 hr for main course and 1/2 hr for offer to bring wine after wine list requested.waitress with crop top and tattooed midriff not very suitable for a restaurant.
J. T.
We were fitted in at short notice (on the day) having been let down elsewhere. A warm welcome followed by fabulous food, Sunday roast for 7 people. Great service great food great value!!
D. W.
My favorite Northamptonshire pub and restaurant circa 16th century . Situated in the countryside next to Lady Dianna's birth place. Dog and people friendly local, which is welcoming and sociable. Food and beers are excellent. Many oak beams and old memorabilia make this a very interesting and great place to visit. The service is amazingly fast and the staff are friendly and sociable. Large free car-park at the rear. Why not make a day of it in July, August or September and visit Althorp house circa 1732 at the same time.
E. Y.
Love this pub! Everything about it is so olde worlde, it's such a wonderful escape from reality. Lovely staff, faultless food, and plenty of beer choice.
T. W.
