Visited The Royal Oak for a quick lunch. I had the "Stuff in the Oven" which was like a hotpot. Tender meat, delicious red wine gravy and vegetables (option) but you can have bread instead. Pleasant pub, will visit again!

Fantastic local pub. We have NEVER had a bad meal in here. The wholesome, homemade menu changes frequently and with the season and portions are perfect. Service is impeccable and so friendly. Kids menu on offer and awesome outside space for the warmer months, gin selection is superb. Highly recommend.

Great village pub. The food was really nice and decent portion. There were so much meat in the lamb dish, the lamb was slow cooked so very tender and juicy. Children enjoyed their food, too. They have a good selection of the beers and a lot of tables in the outdoor area with heaters.

Wanted to have a pub roast but unfortunately due to mum being very poorly we were unable to go out and enjoy the luxury of being waited on. So I had a brainwave. Most weekends through the early part of last year we had a takeaway roast from here and it was outstanding. So, I popped in here on the way home from work one evening the other week and asked if they would be kind enough to do me two roast dinner's as a takeaway.....and the happily obliged and I arranged a time to call in and collect. On the Sunday it turned out to be a rather warm day so I after paying I advised I would wait outside as I had the dog in the car and would they yell when ready and I would come back in. The lovely girl behind the bar Rd me to stay with the dog and she would bring them out to me. After a short wait she brought them out and they were red hot so I knew had been freshly prepared and not just sitting on the side waiting collection. When I got them the short drive home they were still piping hot. To save on the washing up we are from the trays, THE MEAT WAS TO DIE FOR! so tender and very tasty, as was all the food and plentiful. So thanks to the staff for a tasty meal and for helping me with my request of a takeaway will certainly be back

Charming pub with excellent food.
What a gem of a pub is the Royal Oak. They have a good one way system in place to keep you safe and a book to record visitors for track and trace.
The bar area is well laid out with a good selection of beers and sprits and looks like it have been recently been refurbished keeping the charm and features from the original building.
The dinning room also looks like it has recently been refurbished. Once again very in keeping with the original building but very stylish with a modern theme.
The menu is short but plentiful - something for everyone. We ordered and our food arrived swiftly. The presentation was spot on and tasted even better than it looked. Our mains also looks good on the plate and were super tasty and perfectly cooked. We didn't have a dessert as we were full!
This pub is a real gem of a find and we will definitely be back at some point depending on the covid situation.

I'm so glad we found this place. The food was superb, staff were friendly and they had the most amazing vinho verde. As Portuguese folks, we can attest to that! Absolutely flawless. Will be definitely coming back

Great meal and service here. The steak pie with blue cheese served with puff pastry was particularly well received.

Fantastic pub, which has jumped to one of my favourites. Chance encounter post lockdown. Great beer garden, they love dogs and can't wait to try the food

Just popped in for a quick pint on the way back from exploring the delights of Castle Ashby. Fabulous pint of Tring beer, and was pleasantly surprised that the choice of ales included 2 under 4%; which is rare and great for the pop in pint crowd, or sessioners 👌🏼
We didn't eat but had a look at the week and weekend menus that looked varied and extremely tasty. The reccomendation from a local was the pie using the local cheese! We will be back soon to try the food for sure!
We were made to feel incredibly welcome by the friendly and helpful staff! A certain reccomendation. **Watch out for the food review soon! **

Called in with a couple of friends for a drink and hoped to experience their deli'. That had been stopped post-pandemic, so glad we'd already eaten. Very welcoming atmosphere and landlady. Clean and comfortable seating. Will be back again

We had a delicious lunch today in the lovely outdoor garden. It's a lovely pub, very traditional with lots of flowers in baskets and planters. The outdoor space is spacious and well thought out. The food was excellent, chicken pie with lovely seasonal vegetables with butter. Service was really good from a polite and welcoming young man. We were able to take our dog too. Much recommended. We will definitely be back!

A truly traditional country pub, complete with roaring log fire! Staff very friendly and attentive. Menu was not boring, with well presented and cooked food. We had a great Xmas Eve lunch here.

We chose to have lunch here as it had excellent food reviews, we weren't dissappointed. Unassuming exterior but beautifully updated inside.

We visited the Royal Oak for drinks and dinner and had an excellent evening. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was absolutely delicious. The steak was declared to be one of the best ever and I chose a vegan option (although I am not vegan or vegetarian). The sweet potato, cashew and apricot tart was fabulous.
We'll be back!

We visited The Royal Oak last night to see a band called out of order, It was table service which was slow, they were very apologetic and the Pizza's were excellent quality and very tasty, The beer was clear, tasty and went down very nicely. A Brilliant pub to pay a visit being close to the A45 it is easy to get back on to continue a journey.

First time here but will definitely be back!
Lovely ambience, the food was delicious (we had the lamb and the sea bass), and the prices were fair.
Great place for dinner with friends and family.

It was our first visit to this wonderful pub/restaurant and we cannot praise it enough and the staff enough. We entered with a wheelchair user and realised the tables were not quite high enough to accommodate the wheelchair. The Manager quickly moved tables around and found a table from another room. which was higher and perfect. They chatted with us and took photos for us. Made us feel completely welcome with their first class service. Then the food came out which was nothing short of delicious and really generous portions. Thank you for making our afternoon very special. The interior and gardens are also pleasing and spotlessly clean. Well Done. 😊 Will definitely visit again.

Absolutely loved the food, Sunday roasts are awesome, the pork belly is a hard to beat dish, iv tried the pork belly in the Red lion in Whiston and i think the royal oak just about beat it but only by a little. The atmosphere is lovely especially in the summer. Not the cheapest but well worth the little extra cost,,, yummy yummy yummers
A. P.
Very good food indeed. And a lovely wine list. The interior has been done out and its homely and welcoming and safe. Large car park at the back.

It was a great time had by myself and 2 of my favourite people. Adie is my new favourite landlord, as a Coeliac I have to recommend The Royal Oak as highly as the best places I have been. An unbelievably good dinner menu which they change for variety, fantastic choice of Gluten-free beers & Ales. Thanks to all of the staff for creating a friendly & welcoming environment. 10 Stars👍
C. B.
Tasty food, good value. One of my friends is gluten intolerant while her kid is lactose intolerant, they did all they could to accommodate their needs, including making a lactose free pudding from scratch for the kid. Landlord was very friendly and attentive, and went above and beyond. Couldn't have asked for more!

Beautiful cosy little pub. Great atmosphere, awesome food and lovely staff. I highly highly recommend popping in here for a bite on a cold winters afternoon, or for an evening meal and a few drinks, or both, you won't ever want to leave! 😂

Very pleasant food, lovely atmosphere and good value. You will need to be patient as the service could be a little faster, but it shouldn't stop you going there for a special evening out.

After not being to the Royal Oak for ten years, what a fantastic experience, friendly staff, excellent service and really nice food. We had a starter and main course, which was really filling and perfectly cooked, we sat in the main bar area, the atmosphere was just right. I very rarely leave reviews, but the Royal Oak really made a impact.
