TSP is a vibrant, colourful place with a personality of its own. I had heard from many friends about how good it is here and I wasn't disappointed! The menus are comprehensive and there's something for everyone, I even brought my vegetarian partner and she enjoyed it! Booking in advance is crucial and we'll deserved! I have to say I thought this place was fantastic. Went to The Smoke Pit not sure what to expect but had wanted to try it for a while. The greeting and service on arrival was fantastic, very friendly staff and was seated fairly quickly which was perfect. The menu had plenty of choice and was not as limited as I thought it may need along with a vast whiskey and drink menu. Ordered a sharing platter for 2 and a couple of sides and I had absolutely no complaints about any of the food served at all it was great and the platter could have served 3 or 4 safe to say it did not get finished much to my disappointment. I will be returning at somepoint to take this challenge on again hahahaha

Make sure you're hungry! Portions are big. Would recommend the Haloumi fries. Best I've ever had! Burgers were lovely too. Not cheap though. Expect to pay in the region of £30 per head. Service was excellent and really interesting decor. Well worth a visit.

Great atmosphere and decor. Very friendly service and quick food. Took them 10 minutes to take our order after telling us we might have to hurry up for other customers. Chips were 8/10 really nice. Burger was 7/10 bit dry Onion rings.... Good lord have mercy. 2/10 is being nice. I've had mushy peas with more crunch. All in all wouldn't go again but they did they're best. Please try harder.

Quite simply the best place to come for food in Northamptonshire if not further, These guys and girls know what their doing with smoke and every thing i have eaten has been fantastic. The brisket and Gravy is next level. They also have a great bourbon whisky collection. I get take always and even took the lads there for our Xmas meal. Never disappoints. This is a wonderful barbecue restaurant tucked away in a side street in central Northampton. I couldn't recommend this place more if you like food, barbecued or smoked. I could not fault the flavours and portion size of the choices we made albeit a bit on the expensive side. The restaurant also has a fancy drinks machine that, if you choose the unlimited drinks option, can make you a wide variety of different carbonated beverages. If you're looking for something different, you can also mix the drinks too... All in all, a great place for locals and visitors alike.

Major overhaul from my last visit, but still has the visual street art that I fell in love with.. Seems like covid has really took away from "That" venue but with amazing meat and fish platters of all styles. I can say it's still a place I would offer up for you to go at least once to enjoy it's atmosphere.. Prices are not for the faint of heart but you get what you pay for.. Great friendly fast serviced always some willing to give you a history of the place. I will say though bring back the level of music that made me feel like u was in a club. Two thumbs 👍 from me.

The food here is awesome! The closest I have had to home so far during my time in the UK.. The service was a bit slow though, to the point we ordered 2 drinks to keep going. It wasn't a busy period and the place was a little empty (was before the evening rush). We asked one of the staff if we could get served and was told it was not his zone.... That's the main reason for 4*s but I will definitely be coming back soon.. It was also good to finally find a place that did a take to the rum punch :-)

HUGE POTENTIAL. Average execution. Such an amazing product. Setting is unique and interesting. Food in parts looked spectacular. But failed to deliver. Be it the T-Bone steak, looked and tasted brilliant. The parts you could eat. For medium rare. I could cut through the fat or the fatty tissues. Detracted from the pleasure. Other meals where okay. Some. Katsu scampi was outstanding! Maybe it was an off night. Our server was absolutely amazing! Wish I'd got his name. Be the was beyond helpful. Polite. Knowledgeable. Absolutely brilliant. I'd heard nothing but positive reviews from friends and family that have visited The Smoke Pit and can defintiely say I agree with their sentiments. I came here to celebrate a friends birthday a few weeks back and the food lived up to its reputation (I went for the Donald Rump burger). Drinks were well priced (you can opt for the bottomless glass for soft drinks) and the decor was awesome too. Would highly recommend eating here if you haven't already.

Vibrant and stimulating atmosphere....lots of choices....friendly staff...not for an intimate romantic meal but if you like your meat BBQ style this could be right up your street. Unfortunately we felt on the whole that it is overpriced for drinks and food....should be at least 4 stars but the table was sticky and the menus were dirty....easy to rectify though.

Came on a Monday evening thinking it would be quiet but it was so busy, which after the last rubbish year, was lovely to see. There was a wait of an hour on food from the point of ordering but we didn't mind too much. We ordered a starter to keep us going and that arrived quickly. We will be back. Our first time visiting North Hampton and the experience was quote good. The staff was friendly and polite. The food portions were very large so ensure you have an empty stomach or just order one meal to share.

Consistently delicious, indulgent food, we've been several times now across a couple of years and it's been great each time. This trip we shared the Nacho's (as a starter), cowpigchicken burger and side of sweet potato fries between two. We didn't manage to finish the fries and are both big eaters, so a word of warning that the portion sizes are big (suits me). This trip we got there at 6pm on a Tuesday, when it opens, and it was pretty quiet, we've previously been on a Friday evening and it's been packed. Bookings are definitely recommend. The decor is quirky, but tastefully so. At peak times it can be quite loud but not excessively so. I'm not sure if there is another entrance but people in wheelchairs may struggle as there are steps to get in. Worth calling to check with them. I recommend parking at the Ridings carpark literally 100m down the road, it's reasonable rates too for a town centre.

It was okay, I think it's just a bit overpriced! Some of the staff were really nice, others looked like they didn't really want to be there. When the sundaes were served, we didn't know which was which and when we asked, this waitress just said "well, it just looks like this" not knowing that the sundae was called. I cried twice cause they put blue cheese in my salad and I can't have blue cheese And then I tried the sweetcorn on the meat platter and it tasted like puke, not sure why!

Amazing! We prebooked for a table of 7 on a Thursday evening as an early fathers day meal. The waitresses were very attentive, regularly replacing our drinks when required. The menu had so much choice, even a vegan option that wasn't just a salad! The food portions are generous and a main with its side is more than enough. You could even order a platter and sides to share on tour table if you fancied something different. I have also added a picture of the "Coronaita" cocktail which is a must try 🤩. All in all, a great visit and I would highly recommend to anyone.

This was my favorite restaurant pre covid. Coming back after lockdown its lost a little bit of the sparkle. The Decor that used to be an industrial theme now looks as if some youths have broken in with spray cans. Such a pity. Now to the food, portions are pretty big and the food is very high quality. I can highly recommend the korean bbq ribs, they are outstanding. Overall the Smoke Pit is still a nice meal out but its lost some of the magic of yesteryear.

Tucked out of the way down a side road, this place looks unassuming but when you walk in and see the cuts of meat in the dry chiller you know that this place means business. What can I say? The burgers here are worth every penny spent. I'd happily go back for seconds if I wasn't so full (word of warning, kids are unlikely to finish a standard burger as they are so filling). The chips are also something out of this world, full of flavour and nine and fluffy on the inside. I'd happily just have another bowl of chips and be able to leave happy. The burgers are stacked up high, almost in danger of tipping over due to all the contents. The chicken burger is a full thunk of chicken and is also nice and most. The stand out burger of cow pig chicken was bar far the best I've had in ages. I look forward to eating here again

Great restaurant with a casual atmosphere. The walls are covered in graffiti and artwork, making it very quirky and unusual. The food and cocktails were excellent. My partner had the ribs, which he said was very good. I had the veggie burger, which was a little average, but as I expected being a very meaty restaurant. The only negative thing about the night was the service. The female waitresses were very unfriendly and seemed to be avoiding eye contact when we were trying to get some help. Our drinks took a long time to arrive and we were waiting forever to order our food. But once the order was in, it didn't take too long to arrive. On the whole it was a good night and we agreed we would go back.

First visit to The Smoke Pit with work colleagues. Enjoyable experience and the portions certainly lived up to the reputation garnered over time. Refillable drink option was a nice surprise. Ample for 7 of us to share the Icky Sticky starter. Sweet potato fries were lovely and Dirty Burger tasty. I know some colleagues were a little disappointed with their choices but I was pleased with mine. On entry we were greeted, we were then seated but left at our tables for 10 minutes or so without a drink order. We then had josh introduce himself, an absolute amazing server for the evening. Josh is a 10/10 host and very much made the night more enjoyable with his upbeat attitude and caring work ethics. We ordered the meat platter and a burger. The platter unfortunately had luke warm pulled pork and brisket. The chicken and sausage was hot aswell as the sweet potato fries. I have a smoker in the garden and regularly do 16+ hour smokes so I was expecting something similar. The menu states the meat is smoked for 6/8 hours and you can tell. The brisket could of done with a much longer smoke to allow for a much better experience especially with the fat. However it was seasoned well and their bbq spiced sauce was extremely tasty. The pulled pork was amazing, the chicken wasnt much at all, again with chicken it's either bland bbq chicken or a very long smoke time for an absolutely amazing tasting chicken with so many notes on the flavours. This chicken was the former. The sausage was the worst part of the meal for me, I hate sausages that are similar to hotdog sausages / bratwurst type. And the sausage was indeed like this. It had a great smoked taste but my personal tastes meant I left 1 of the 2 sausages. I also had the ribs on my plate, ribs are the one thing that either need a long smoke time or some serious prep. It was extremely fatty with lots of grisel I left most of the rib. Ribs with a long smoke time lead to a succulent melt in the mouth experience with fall off the bone and right into your belly. The rubs need some massive improvement. This restaurant is very well worth the visit and I am so happy we got to visit! I love smoked meats and this was right up my alley!

Excellent quality food, worth the premium price. Comprehensive menu for the carnivores amongst us, but very limited dor Veggies and Vegans. Beverage range is pretty good as well, with a varied selection of wines, cocktails, spirit's, beers and soft drinks. The servings are significantly large to satisfy the heartiest appetite, and come to table well presented on rustic enamelled plates/trays. The party I was with couldn't manage a desert, as we were all too full. Although we did have superb milkshakes to go. I would have rated The Smoke Pit the full 5 stats but for just one thing, the service was painfully slow. We were seated at 18:45 and had just about finished our main course by closing time at 21:00. It was s good job we were too full to order deserts. It was about 3/4 full when we arrived. The staff were however very friendly, and made no mistakes with our orders. (To be fair, the menu does state that when busy expect to wait for up to 60mins for mains) Overall a most enjoyable dining experience, with fantastic food. Just a tad more timely service and it would have been perfect.

Food- I ordered the brisket.. tasted more like a roasting joint cooked in a slow cooker which has been pulled apart rather than a brisket cooked in a smoker.... it wasnt bad or anything it just wasnt a brisket or amazing for £17. The picanai is tiny u get 5 slithers about 4cm tall by 1 cm cubed. Tastes nice but not worth it. The fish and chips was very tasty. The Best meal on the table. Overall the food was pretty normal. The best meal was the fish and chips at a smoke pit... everything else was disappointing. We sat at the big round table. Which was sticky all over like a the carpet at a nightclub so my arms where sticking to the table. This was pretty gross from my point of view. Service was ok. Nothing amazing but not terrible. I personally wouldn't come here again as I dont think it's great when its charging great food prices. You might aswell go next door to spoons and get the same standard of ribs for half the price. I wanted this place to be good but it wasnt.

I'd also say that the portion sizes are perfect also. My friend had the the Oreo milkshake which was fantastically presented and just going by the size of it could replace a while meal.

Not the worst around for BBQ smoke house joints, nice to have this I Northampton and the quality and cost was good. Two of us for start main and drinks came to just over £60 and we were both left full and content. Quality of the smoking is ok, we had a large mixed platter and found the chicken to be a bit lacking in flavour and the pulled beef to be a bit like braised beef for a pie filling, would have been much nicer to have been surged in slices ad there was a bit to much pulled meat going on and made you think done to get more volume out of expensive products, which we get but at same time did not show off the best of the slow cooked beef. Staff are fast and friendly, the decor is really modern funky. Not one to rush back to would like to see how it does a few years down the road. Busy and popular so not all bad.

Wonderful drinks and sauces! I will be going back but I will not be ordering the brisket again! I was not convinced it was smoked as the menu suggested. I expected more of a Texas style obviously smoked sliced brisket. What I got was more akin to a well done pulled beef roast and tasted like it. Onion rings and mac'n cheese were good as was the slaw. Although the latter was more Asian style which seemed inconsistent. Next time maybe I'll try the ribs and wings. My date ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. Again to their favour, the buffalo sauce was legit. All in all, seems like a good place. I just ordered the wrong thing for me.

Went there on a Tuesday evening with a work group of 24. We'd pre-booked the Christmas menu. As a vegetarian I'd never been keen to go as it is predominantly meat dishes but I was surprised how much I liked it. The staff were great, they managed to bring the food out relatively all together. The portions were a good size and they brought out tons of fresh veg alongside it. The guys were super attentive with topping up drinks and helping out with inquiries. The atmosphere and overall place was great, my era of music, love a bit of skunk anasie and muse! Drinks menu was extensive, could do with another draught cider on tap but plenty of bottled choice. Riding in on the new-found Brit interest in BBQ and smoked meats plus 'pulled' pork and doing a pretty good job. No shrimp and grits though!!! Service was really good, relaxed and friendly but it all got done pretty efficiently. We were out with our son & his wife for his 30th and it was a great place to celebrate. He is an out and out carnivore, so there were no issues. Plenty of choices on the menu, some had salads and us guys had pork steaks or a simple burger. All well presented. Desserts looked great but I couldn't manage one.... Bear that in mind.... Portions are on the big side! Order carefully & ask...... It's up to you! I was driving, so stuck to free refill Coke but others went for the beer list which looked interesting with craft beers on tap and in cans. The can selection looked good! All in all a great evening out. We all enjoyed it. Music pretty loud this visit, so conversation over the table was a bit shouty but it added to the atmosphere. This place is definitely worth trying.

If you love a grill or smoker and appreciate a stunning whisky and great beer... Even Vedette on tap.... Then The Smoke Pit is the place to visit. I've been 3 times in the last 6 months with friends and every time the food has not disappointed, everything from Mac n Cheese to full beef platters and incredible dry aged steaks, all the flavours have been excellent perfectly cooked and I've always left well filled! Try the amazing selection of bourbons... There must have been 50 options on the menu or if you fancy something alternative go for a Corona Rita beer and tequila cocktail All of the great food and drink I've experienced at the smoke pit has been delivered with near perfect service, smiles and good recommendations too!

This place is without a doubt one of Northampton best restraints around. If your absolutely Marvin or just really craving some bbq/ American style food this is the place for you ! The venue is great huge variety to choose from don't be discouraged from the prices they are a little high but the portion sizes and food quality will have you feel to the brim with a smile on your face . Worth every penny I try to go here at least once every two weeks if you haven't been you don't know what your missing out on . And the buffalo wings oh my don't even get me started on the wings ! Based simply on their food this would be an easy recommendation. I had slow roasted pulled pork with BBQ sauce that melted in the mouth. I could easily eat that every day. The vanilla milk shake I had with it was spectacularly presented, such that I gasped when receiving it; wow. I must mention that the service was poor to absent, our waitress left and we were kept waiting for some time before we could get someone's attention. Furthermore, prices are steep. One course each for my wife and I, with a soft drink each, exceeded £40. Perhaps they have an early bird special or some other offer.

It has become tradition for a visit on Xmas Eve and every chance I get in between. I frequently order the cowpigchicken burger as you get the best of everything. The tabaco onions are great as are the desserts. If you're hungover and/or famished, I recommend ordering a platter. There's an area in the restaurant dedicated to hot sauces and BBQ dips, if you're partial to a spicy condiment it's a dream. The cocktails are also superb, my favourite at the moment is the Sloe Lemonade. The milkshakes are good, but if you're easily full then mind they don't spoil your appetite. This would be a tragedy. The staff are sound, a helpful and cheery bunch. The food is brought out in good time and the bill is accompanied by sweeties. In short, the food, drinks, staff and general atmosphere is awesome. Go. Even though we didn't have a booking, they managed to fit us in on a busy night. Had a bad boy beef platter between two of us- beautiful brisket that falls apart and the hash gravy was full of flavour. The rump steak was really chewy, even for a rare steak, and gristly. But occasionally you just get bad cuts of meat I guess. Dealt with it as everything else was great! Sides were great, fries had a solid crunch and onion rings were huge and battered perfectly. Refillable soft drinks worked off a coca cola freestyle machine so plenty of variety of syrups and flavourings.

I have eaten in a few places around the world, restaurants in London, Toyko, Italy, New York and nothing beats the food here (Japan comes close). I came here for my brother in laws birthday after walking past the place a few times thinking it looks awesome and today I finally had a reason to try the food, it blew me away. I had the Scampi for starters and the Donald Rump (burger) for my main. The scampi was nicely cooked and served in a curry sauce which was lovely and spicy and the burger I had as a plater which game with brisket steak strips and a side of tobacco smoked onions. All the meat was cooked perfectly for me and was oozing flavour. I rarely give anywhere a 5 star review but this place more than deserves it, the staff are nice and friendly and the food is fantastic, in me they now have a customer for life. The only thing worth mentioning is the price, its a little on the expensive side however that age old saying '' you get what you pay for'' really applies here as if they lowered their prices then it'd probably mean cheaper inferior quality which no one would like.

A meat eaters paradise. Whether you want pulled brisket, pulled pork, ribs, steak, chicken or sausage there's something for you. There's even swordfish for those who want a fishy dish, salad for the healthy eaters and a couple of vegetarian dishes for those non-meat eaters. A wide selection of drinks are available from beers, lagers, cider, wine, spirits and soft drinks. The service is quick and friendly with suggestions if you're struggling to make your decision. Make sure you book a table in advance as it gets booked up quickly, especially at the weekend!

Hhmm ... Great building. I used to love the Blue Plate cafe which used to be in this building. I've only eaten at the Smoke Pit once. I went with my wife, expecting to have an intimate meal a deux. This is a restaurant more geared at 'party' type events - work outings, club dinners, stag and hen parties. It is loud and bustling. It is not a cheap night out - it is not massively expensive, but certainly not cheap. The food is all based around long, slow cooked bits of pig / cow / chicken. Very tasty, very calorific. I've rated three stars - I could have been pushed to four - I guess I would really like to rate it 3.5 stars. A friend recently had a birthday and wanted somewhere to go to celebrate - after talking it through with him, he decided on a different restaurant.

I had a sirloin steak, medium rare. It came pre-sliced which I found weird at first but I can now see why they do it. The steak came out looking beautiful cooked and it tasted even better. The shoelace fries complemented the steak perfectly. The atmosphere at the smoke pit is alwaus delightful, the decor is full of classic american culture and the music is always tasteful. Definitely recommend despite a semi-expensive menu.
