Reviews of Grosvenor Fish Bar
D. M.
Still the best place in my opinion to get chips from in Norwich.. Good value for your money if you choose to dine in or take away. Everything it cooked to order.
T. M.
Absolutely the best fish and chip shop in Norwich, I had the Krusty Crab Po burger and chips, it was amazing, huge portion of chips too, we ate downstairs at no extra cost and dining area has a funky feel to it
D. W.
Somewhat trendy fish and chips joint, slightly upmarket prices for great quality fish and chips and efficient, friendly service. If eating in, would not recommend the downstairs dark dungeon unless you are a natural cave dweller. These is some seating with daylight in the seating area next door if you're lucky.
L. p.
Had dinner there today and none of us was expecting such generous portions!Big burger and tasty fish!
R. F.
Lovely...very busy and had to wait but portions were great. I had chili n chips which was great ,others had home made pie n chips, cod and burger...all great.
Only thing I will say unfortunately was opposite where benches were and a large place to dispose of litter, lots of fish n chip papers on the floor and polystyrene chip containers too and no one picking litter up....it was obvious it came from the premises.
I know maybe it's not their job to clear it but it would go along way to add good feelings to the surrounding area.
McDonald's clear their litter don't they for instance ?
But I would definitely go back next time I'm in the area.

lovely visit here this evening. I've lived in Norwich all my life and never visited! we sat downstairs and we all had an awesome meal. The ordering and paying couldn't be simpler then they bring food to you on lovely little trays. The chips were great, chilli con chips was a huge hit with our non fish and chip eater! The cod was dark golden, puffy and seriously meaty and the High Sea was a real treat
Well done guys, clean tidy, well laid out, good service
T. G.
Been going here for years we love this place , the quality is second to none food wise it's very clean and the staff are always helpful.Highly recommend if you are looking for traditional fish and chips etc
C. M. W.
Good value for money and conveniently located right in the city centre.
I generally go for the battered sausages and chips, which are fresh and generously sized.
I have personally found the service fast and friendly.
G. B.
Lovely chips! Fish was a bit tasteless & quite greasy! But friendly & fast service! I would go back for chips 100000%
a. a.
The covid service was kind and compassionate, just what you need! Someone who cares that you have been waiting. I watched as the server offered to carry the chips for a customer who just needed an extra pair of hands!
The chips were the right crunchy and the fish tasted flakey and wet with crispy batter that I'd soaked in vinegar. The addition of lemon slices with each portion of chips is such a nice touch, the mushy peas were soft and warm with hint of sweetness. Simply delishious.
My daughter had the sausage which she devoured! (pictured)
The sun is shining- time to get your Goujon On!
H. W.
Absolutely bang on batter, fresh plaice and crispy, fluffy chips. 10/10 and the best fnc I've had anywhere in a long time. Loved eating them in the Anderson shelter bunker downstairs! (See pics).
J. P.
I have visited here a few times. The place is always busy which is a good sign. This time I tried their Christmas dinner. Turkey sausage, battered stuffing, chips, cranberry sauce and gravy. It was really nice and a good amount of food for the price.
My wife had Haddock and it was massive. you really get good portions here.
There is seating downstairs which has a 1940/50s feel about it.
K. *.
Excellent! Food was hot and cooked perfectly. Staff friendly and attentive. Looks small from the street, but the caverns below provide plenty of seating and a great ambiance. Sensible prices. Highly recommended.
M. S.
Some of the best fish and chips in the city with the added bonus of being able to take them across to the Birdcage pub to enjoy with an ice cold pint. The menu is varied and features a lot of unusual but delicious chip shop variations.
G. P.
If you want fish and chips in the city this is the place to come. Great staff, great menu and seating too if you need to rest your feet. Cracking grub.
M. C.
Very nice fish and chips, taken in the vault cave, and nice 60's/70's rock
H. P.
Great food but randomly got an extra portion of chips which wasn't needed and they forgot my garlic mayo so took off one star!
L. a. N. P.
After extensive research, The Grosvenor comes in as the top chippy in Norfolk. Whilst the unaware might imagine Norfolk would be stacked with quality F&C offerings (what with it being big on coastline etc) this wasn't borne out in our tour of the county over years. Go to the Grosvenor, it's lush.
E. E.
My comfort food...still for me the BEST FISH & CHIPS in the UK... I'm here almost every week.. though they've increase a bit on their price... Still worth it and enjoyable meal as always...
P. A.
Amazing food, very generous portions. Friendly staff and service. Definately recommend booking and dining it. Lovely place to dine with friends.
A. P.
Fantastic Fish and Chips. Amazing choice of fish and variety of dishes. HUGE portions, incredible value for money. Very large seating area downstairs if you want to dine in. 100% recommended
C. L.
Best fish and chips in Norwich. Dining in is a unique, fun experience.
H. B.
Brilliant service for a birthday party sitting downstairs with our own private room and delicious food. Jade served us and was brilliant thankyou!
J. R.
Nice fish and chips, had to wait a good 10 minutes to have it cooked though which seemed slightly longer than I would expect. Read lots of raving reviews about the place but although it was nice cod and chips I was probably expecting slightly better. I've had many fish and chips in Cornwall that matches or betters this
R. A.
First time trying fish and chips. This place is very traditional and prices were ok, you have the option of ordering food and getting it delivered on the bar across the street. Friendly staff and I really enjoyed the experience overall!
S. L.
Wonderful fish and chips. Very fresh and tasty.
D. W.
Take the time to eat in downstairs in their unique restaurant.
G. A.
Good standard of food and yummy food. I thought the seating are downstairs could have been lit up a little bit more, but aside from this it was really nice. The staff are happy and friendly, and it's a lovely atmosphere.
R. L.
Hands down the best fish and chips in England. Untreatable prices and a good mix of traditional and modern. The "Loony Toony" tuna steak with wasabi mayo was amazing and a must try
k. a.
Just grabbed a sausage meal from here on my way home, this included a battered sausage, a pot of sauce (curry for me) and a roll. I then paid 1.20 for an extra pot of mushy peas as they are lovely from here! The meal was spot on apart from the fact my curry sauce was missing entirely meaning i just paid an extra 1.20 for nothing, a little annoyed about it but they were rather busy so could just be down to that, other than that the food was pucker :) edit: owner saw my review and very kindly compensated me for my loss of sauce lol so a 5 star review has most certainly been deserved
R. H.
The best chips Ive ever had. Cooked perfectly and crispy.
10/10.
L. L.
Food is always lovely & reasonably priced. Such a bright & vibrant atmosphere inside, the staff are also welcoming and friendly. Best fish & chips place ever :)
K. F.
As usual chips we're superb, hope it doesn't fall into a big hole.
m. w.
Great food and helpful staff always have a smile on there face and if there is any kind of problem they are fast to rectify it in addition the atmosphere is great they have great music and decor that makes the whole dining experience interesting. would recommend 10/10
K. C.
Chili Con Carne contained no Carne. I like this fish and chip shop but I hate paying for something that I could make better at home with my eyes closed. Mild cheddar used too, cheap skating it with bland ingredients. Chips were great though, just do better with the other stuff
h. l.
Absolutely brilliant, although a mayo and ketchup mishap was made, the young woman who took my order handled it brilliantly, and I j service was top notch, would recommend to all! 10/10
k. y.
Definitely one of the best fish and chips restaurants I have been too.
Tempura batter for the dairy free gang and chips to die for.
This place doesn't just offer the standard fayre, all though that is available too if that's your pleasure. it also expands its range and your taste spuds to more adventurous food.
The staff / owners are incredibly friendly and very helpful.
this is a place where you can look forward to your lunch.
Visitors Peel yourself away from the market this place is less than a minute away and is Highly Recommended.
M. K.
Grosvenor has always provided consistent, fantastic service and are quick to prepare orders. They offer an extensive range of fish which has always been cooked superbly with crispy batter with none of the sogginess seen at some chip shops. The team have always been friendly & attentive in their service. Grosvenor have also teamed up with the Birdcage pub opposite, allowing for food to be brought into the pub for those looking to enjoy a pint with their meal.
K. “. W.
Only went in for a bag of chips. They were excellent. Fluffy on the inside, light & crispy on the outside and not greasy at all. Standard portion £2 and plenty of them.
H. B.
The world would be a better place if other fish and chip shops were half as good as this.
T. C.
Absolutely delicious fish bar, you can tell its good from the queues outside!!
Cod and chips for me but be aware there is a wide variety of foods to choose from.
M. L.
I love fish and chips. Tried the fish and chips at Grosvenor Fish Bar for the first time at Norwich - this is the best fish and chips. Next time I'm in Norwich I will definitely be there again and will definitely recommend to family and friends. Some family members already know and recommend this place.
D. S.
We had cod and chips here and it was as good as I've ever had. The fish was beautiful with perfect batter. The chips were brown and not greasy. What really sets the place apart though is the eat in environment. Really quirky and characterful. Not your standard chip shop seating area by any means. I don't visit Norwich very often but when I do I intend to visit. Great food.
E. T.
Food is freshly cooked food lovely staff good size portions
Deffinetly best chip shop in Norwich without a doubt
A. M.
Placed order, waited in a joining seating area. Happy young man brought in delicious fish & chips
E. D.
My husband and his friend both agreed that the burger they ordered was one of the best, if not the best, burgers they’ve ever had! I ordered fish (cod) & chips and it was so good!!! It’s so cool that the seating area is underground and has a very rustic feels in some areas, while other areas looks like a cave! It’s just an awesome restaurant. I’ll definitely be back anytime I’m in Norwich.
K. G.
Lots of fish, lots of chips, lots of other things, but also lots of things that weren't there too! I guess that is how most places are really....
M. M.
Food is freshly cooked. Quite a queue at 6.45pm on Sautrday 16.10.2021 but a good sign. Had to wait 20 mins for my order. Got a takeaway, pleasantly surprised that all packaging is recyclable.
l. r.
Best chippy around. Always the same high quality food and the staff are hard workers and really nice!
T. m.
I just went there. They were super busy and I was in a rush so after I waited for a while I had to ask if it would be much longer. Instead of getting upset the lady helped the guy cooking. It was so well managed and they even gave me a complementary chocolate bar because of the wait. The food here cannot be out done by any other Norwich chip shop
L. H.
I know I can't prove it and others will quite rightly have other opinions. But for me this is the best fish bar in MY world. An original specials menu and exceptional service. We had waiter (the owner in fact) service across the little green to the church wall that we were sitting on this evening. Simply stunning.
J. R.
Easy ordering via the website. Large chips are big enough for a whole family! Particularly enjoyed the mackerel and the sea bass. Great food and great service too. Many thanks.
J. L.
Great fish and chip places, would visit again!
R. C.
A very cool and from what I gather popular place. The chips and curry sauce I got were top quality. I really like the basement area as well.
D. G.
Best fish and chips I've ever had. And I've had a lot. Great service and funky restaurant downstairs. But you can't beat a takeaway and sitting outside watching the world go by.
M. S.
Called in on the off chance we could have a table and eat indoors. We were greeted enthusiastically and the food was fantastic. Best fish and chip restaurant in Norwich by a long mile. 😋
J. S.
We placed a large order today for collection. Service was absolutely perfect - Ready bang on time and real attention to detail with the way the order was packaged so we knew what everything was, and a knife, fork, condiments and a little treat for everyone individually bagged.
And that's on top of the fact that the Grosvenor is the best chip shop ever anyway....
S. M.
Excellent Big Mack, lovely to get fresh mackerel from a well reputed Fish & Chip shop, very busy which speaks for itself. Will definitely be back.
K. S.
The best chip shop in Norwich! Really tasty food and lovely venue downstairs to eat. I recommend the cod goujon and chips, perfect amount!
n. r.
This is one of our favourite stops in Norwich ,the food is delicious and the service is fantastic.
If you love fish and chips this is a must xx The Brighton Boys
B. G. a. L. G.
Best fish and chip bar in the area. Uses beef dripping. Lovely seated area downstairs for pre 2020. Has an order and pick up place for social distancing queues. Can sit outside in green. Can take away wrapped. Do all sorts of fish and burgers etc
L. S.
The best fish and chips in the world. Everything is just to die for. The dips they make on site are organic and just heavenly. Recommend every single day of the week
M. F.
Very good fish and chips!
A. W.
We visited today on my mums birthday. Very popular shop- queue out of the door. Easily got a seat downstairs (it's cool like an Anderson shelter ceiling). My mum loved their battered prawns and enjoyed the soft shelled crab. The latter is a large meal worth the cost - she couldn't finish it. Lots of interesting menu options.
It IS written everywhere, but I just missed that everything is cooked in beef tallow when I ordered, which I'm allergic to. As soon as I realised, and before my food arrived, the waitress helped me cancel my order, and they refunded me no problem. The waitress sincerely wished my mum happy birthday too. She was very good.

The Grosvenor Fish Bar.
Just opposite the Birdcage Pub in Central Norwich
Have walked past this place many times and had never tried it until this evening. All I can say is that they have an extensive menu, but we were only after one thing, the fish and chips. Were they good? The service was fast and friendly, and both the fish and the chips, I would say, were absolutely excellent. Another great idea is that you can order your meal and have it delivered to the Birdcage, so you can enjoy your meal washed down with a pleasant pint, wine or two Nice one Grosvenor!
G. W.
After seeing people with their fish and chips from here I decided to take the plunge and order from here via uber eats, have to say tastes fanatic however where is the rest of my meal? Definitely not value for money, if you want to feel like you've eaten I'd suggest ordering the same thing 5 times..
R. S.
Very good fish and chips takeaway in city centre.
J. K.
Seriously good! Perfectly cooked fish, chips that don't need salt they're so tasty and quite possibly the best mushy peas in the business. Plus super friendly staff, table service and the choice of taking your food to the pub opposite and having a bevy. Epic.
J. B.
Sorry to leave not such a good review but I've been disappointed with my experience today. I felt my chips were undercooked and the batter very thick and a bit chewy. No one came to ask how it was so I left. Fish inside batter was tasty and very fresh so not all bad. Not sure staff behind counter are that approachable they were quite busy chatting amongst themselves and I didn't want to comment in front of other customers. I recognise the potential here though.
O. C.
The best fish and chips in the city. The cod lunch is brilliant. Great atmosphere in the crypt and next door seating is pleasant. Regularly book it for work quiz nights they are excellent hosts, had crackers at our table at Christmas! A good cup of coffee to which was unexpected!
M. T.
Probably the best fish and chips in Norwich. They have a great specials board and plenty of cool seating in the basement where they play swing music.
Worth noting that the chips are cooked in beef dripping so not suitable for veggies.
G. S.
Excellent quality of food and service. The staff provided a chocolate birthday cake and joined in with 'happy birthday ', all very unexpected and a lovely touch at the end of the meal.
L. B.
Demand for this quality city eatery is high but for fish & chip fans it is well worth a visit if you are in Norwich. Basement seating is quirky and limited but the quality of food is never disappointing. An Iconic Norfolk eatery I cannot recommend highly enough.
I. P.
The chips are fantastic -- perfectly cooked. The fish is possibly a bit smaller than it purports to be owing to the size of the batter, but it still provides a good feed and the prices are perfectly reasonable.
The service is speedy, even at peak periods, with the manager roving the queue and taking people's orders in advance to make sure the food is cooked by the time you come to order. The best bit is being able to take your meal outside on a sunny day, or across the road to the Birdcage to enjoy with a pint.
C. R.
One of the best portions in Norwich. Traditional batter with good light fish, not too much oil. Chips were well presented with good soft centre and no starch. Service was friendly and helpful and reminded us that there was seating downstairs.
G. H.
Went in about 2pm on a Saturday. Was quite busy but got a seat downstairs and was surprised how nice and cosy it was. Went to order and the owner approached me in the queue and took my order down. He was super friendly and efficient. Most importantly the chips here are delicious and great value. Two medium chips and a medium battered sausage for about £5.20. I would definitely come back here and recommend it wholeheartedly. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu!
B. B.
Well deserved accolades as one of the best places to eat in Norwich. The chips, cooked in dripping, are 5-star perfect. Please never change your methods of cooking. I always go for a sumptuous piece of code which is so good I have never ventured to try other exciting looking items on the menu. Perhaps I should go more often.
D. C.
Amazing food. The fish and chips are very good as are the array of exotic and unusual dishes, sides and sauces also available. The bang bang sauce is absolutely incredible.
It can get very busy at lunch and in the evenings so be prepared to wait or call ahead and book a table.
The staff are very friendly and do an amazing job dealing with the large volumes of orders. Be kind to them.
As with the food the seating is very unusual. Downstairs amongst medieval arches theres seating and above ground next to the restraunt is more seating.
J. K.
Hands down one of the best meals I've had the pleasure of enjoying, ever! Polite, efficient staff. The owner is absolutely awesome! Had the Chicky Chicky bang bang, perfectly cooked and served. The bang bang sauce is AMAZING!! portion sizes are perfect, I literally cannot fault the place. Amazing! The owner even treated us to a chocolate bar when we were done, what a guy! Will definitely be back there again!
D. C.
The Best Fish'n'Chips in the city. Great value Efficient service and the chips are always fresh. Don't be put off by the queue, they'll get you in and out in no time. You are also welcome to eat your food in the Birdcage pub adjacent if you're buying drinks. Eat there more often than I am willing to admit.
B. D.
A very popular and teensy f'sh bar. They have adapted well to social distancing. The range of dishes have something for every taste. As an example steak and kidney pie with chips and gravy is only £6
D. M.
Amazing fish and chips. The best in the city by far.
J. H.
The best fish and chips in the whole of east anglia if you are there make sure to try the battered gherkins they are delicious
j. c.
Absolutely incredible chips and the curry sauce 😍😍😍
J. B. (.
Never thought I would be reviewing a fish and chip shop but when I find something this good it's worth the effort.
Our first time ordering here and on an exceptionally busy night (Christmas lights switch on) the queue was huge but we only waited about 20 mins and our fish was fried to order. The staff weren't phased by the crowds either, remaining friendly and efficient getting all the orders through.
We took the food home and on opening the wrapper were greeted by a beautifully prepared and delicious looking large fish with chips.
But the best bit...the taste. Perfect flavoursome batter, quality moist and tender fish with equally delicious chips and all for a very reasonable price.
Highly recommended and can't wait to go back for more.
M. F.
Review based purely on most recent visit, which were average at best. Dry, crispy chips and batter round the sausage that shattereted upon contact. Hugely disappointed.
H. S.
Best fish n chips in Norwich should have 10 stars! Not expensive as and the staff are.always friendly and helpful. The place is always clean and tidy.
If you want the best fish n chips you've every had go to the Grovenor Fish Bar.
H. I. J.
I've been going here for a few years now. I love it. The workers are very polite and charming, food is delicious and filling (there's a lot to choose from). Not to mention the price for what you get. What i tend to order is cheaper than Mcdonalds and i feel full. You also get a lovely atmosphere with classic tunes.
J. K.
We have visited several times, the fish and chips are consistently good and always very fresh. Really enjoy eating in the basement "Air raid shelters". Staff always polite and friendly too. Exceptionally good value for money. Well worth a visit!
A. C.
Amazing range of meals, so much more than a traditional fish and chip shop (wraps, seasonal specials, Turkey and stuffing, toad in the whole etc.) All with very cute names, for example "cheeky cod" is cod cheeks and chips with a mint and lemon sauce on the side. I've tried a few and they are all delicious. If you're sitting in food is generally served in a metal dish and there are wooden knives and forks available. Lots of seating downstairs but I find it a little claustrophobic only because they make use of all the available space. Very reasonable price as well.
S. S.
Best fish & chips in Norwich...actually the World in my opinion.
We regularly come here when in the city & our dog is always welcome to come inside & also across the road in The Birdcage if we fancy a drink too
N. A.
The best fish and chips I've ever had! Often busy during the day because it's well known for its quality, but extra seating is available in the bird cage and the staff are efficient and keep the queue moving quickly.
V. J.
Really good fish and chips and maybe the best in Norwich. Fast service and an interesting menu to choose from. You can get your traditional fish & chips but heads up with tortillas and bread filled with fish and other goodies.
Excellent for a snack while going around Norwich.
R.
They can make anything battered gluten free, first chip shop I've experienced that offers this which is amazing if your sensitive/intolerant and don't want to miss out. As far as I can see they don't advertise this so you'll have to ask when you order. Although it is cooked in the same oil as the rest of the food, so not safe for celiacs, and the chips aren't technically vegan for the same reason, but full of flavour and never dissapoints.
O. K.
The place has one of the best fish and chips I've tried so far. The price is also very reasonable and would gladly pay for the food they serve. Good food and friendly staff. Would eat here again with my friends.
C. B.
always good chips here, ideal as you're walking into the city, can get very very busy at peak times with queues out the door and round the corner, just shows how good the food is! lovely restaurant seating area down stairs too. 5 stars from chunk.
M. B.
First class Fish and Chip shop right in the centre of Norwich. Menu offers much more than the usual choices.
Service is quick. Which is great as there is always a queue. This place is popular and rightly so.
I recommend the cod goujons which are much bigger than you would expect.
Take out or eat in. Downstairs or a unit next door. Better still they will deliver to The Birdcage pub opposite.
Highly recommended. Best fish and chip shop in Norwich, hands down!
A.
Lady at the counter was very nice and The food is quality
J. L.
Stumbled on this quirky little place. The specials menu is great for fish lovers, all battered but smoked herring, soft shell crab, cod cheeks, and many other different fish. I had the smoked herring, very nice but won't be everyone's bag. Partner had cod cheeks, it presented like scampi.
For what I thought was a small take away it could seat around 75 in cellar rooms. A bit dingy for some but certainly quirky. If I lived bin Norwich I would certainly have to try the whole specials menu.
G. E.
Was very impressed. Probably the best fish and chips in Norwich. We booked a table and ate in, something I was surprised you could do due to the size of it, but there is a very large seating area in the basement! Great decor, Portions were every generous and the price was spot on. Waiting staff couldn't do enough for us. A real gem.
Edit: just found out you can sit in the pub opposite and order your food, AND THEY BRING IT OVER! Can I give it 6/10?
M. J.
Best fish and chips in Norfolk!
S. M.
One of the best fish and chips shops in Norwich (some people will say it's the best). What I like besides the tasty fish is the fact that you can order it at the shop and have it in the next door pub, the Birdcage - a waiter will deliver it to the pub for you - but you are expected to buy drinks at the pub.
E. B.
Definitely worth a visit, their chips are insane 😋
I. S.
Loved sitting in the cave's below
fresh fish and really nice
B. D.
Really great place for traditional fish & chips, plus many other choices. Good olde world setting with jaz music playing in the background. Take away, eat in or eat in the pub opposite. At certain times it gets extremely busy, so be prepared for a wait, while they cook your fresh order.
E. E.
This little place is always super busy but service is quick and efficient. Fresh foods not greasy. Freshest fish anywhere apart from coast. Smiley helpful staff good value for money. Now put regular chippy 5*
S. L.
One of the best chippys in Norwich. Great prices, variety and quality. You can go for cheeky cod "bites" or even squid. Decor is cool with an underground bunker area and cool chairs to sit on outside. The birdcage pub opposite allows you to take in your fish and chips to eat there. Do try this place.
D. M.
Lovely and big variety of freshly cooked fish (including bass and mackerel, not to mention cod cheeks!), combined with a great downstairs eating area, fast service from classy staff...oh, and cooked in BEEF DRIPPING!!?? :P Holy Yummness - I think I've just died and swam to fish and chip heaven? lol! I love this PLAICE, so get yer ROCK on & head downstream to the best chippie in town - CLAMS down!! ;)
J. C.
Fantastic menu, good quality food cooked to order.
Give the Bass with Sass a try.
Best chips in the city.
M. H. N.
great service. young lady at the counter was clear and helpful. Will visit again soon.
M. A.
I visit The Grosvenor whenever I am in Norwich , without doubt the best fish and chips you can buy. I´ve eaten fish and chips in over 30 countries , and no-one comes close to the perfection served here !!
T. S.
Really enjoyed the interesting fish and chips we had. The staff were also really friendly and helpful
W. D.
Tasty, little annoying how long it takes to receive your order. I often turn up and there is no queue, more often than not, it takes 10/15 mins to receive just cod and chips. Maybe this issue is due to online orders, not sure...
N. M.
Amazing food and service just the best
D. A.
Best fish and chips in Norwich, if not the whole of the UK, friendly staff, and a great atmosphere. Surprisingly large menu with plenty of choice, and no charge for seating.
Now with added ...Too seating next door for those who can't make it down the stairs to the bunker, like a bit of light, or need to be able to use their phone.
s. k.
Best fish and chips in Norwich. Excellent service, the que was quite long but I still got served quickly. The owner and staff very friendly indeed. Couldn't recommend it enough.
S. C.
By far and away the best fish and chips in Norwich. Various eat in locations on the property as well as a mutual agreement with the pub opposite if you prefer to eat in there as long as you purchase drinks to go with the Grosvenors great food.
Good choice of fish etc, unusual options cooked to order...perfectly. Great chips well fried. Friendly helpful staff.
What more can I say, what more could YOU want. 10/10.
( and I dont work there.) Lol
B. F. S. L.
This place has been awesome every time, super food, excellent to eat in the ‘bunker’ downstairs. Never had a bad meal here! Absolutely favourite chippy in Norwich
J. T.
Probably the 2nd best chippy in Norwich
L. M.
Yet another totally awesome cod goujon & chips for lunch. This has got to be the best fish and chip shop /restaurant in Norwich. Busy as always, but fast prompt friendly professional service.
P. G.
Where do I start? I'd like to see a chip shop in the world that is better and that's saying something! The menu is very extensive and has some very interesting additions. I'm vegetarian but they have covered that well with a wide range of lovely veggie options also I noticed that the packaging is eco friendly. The shop looks amazing! You can eat in or even take your meal to the pub opposite. The staff are friendly and even when very busy they will take your order in the queue and are always on the ball. Friendly staff and very good value for money. Is chipshopgasam a word? :) because it would best describe this place.
I. C.
Lovely chips curry sauce and bap but didn't like the battered sausage but don't let that stop you visiting the shop would definitely visit again
J. L.
I'm my opinion the best chip shop in Norwich. their festive Christmas dinner was one of the best meals also; butcher's turkey sausage, battered stuffing balls (that were not that greasy, honestly) chips and gravy. 5*
R. B.
This is by far the best chippy shop I've been to. You must go if you're in Norwich. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The F&C were fresh, crisp, and delicious! The Wako Taco is a must. The owners are a real power couple.
M. A.
A really good place where I come time to time to eat a fish and chips in Norwich city centre when I want to seat and not a take away but prices have increased and portions have diminished since I came first 2 years ago.
So I am sometimes hesitating between ordering here or going somewhere else, which I do.
S. Z.
Bit disappointed the last couple of times as haven't enjoyed it so much. Sorry to say I found the gravy more watery, the peas not as smooth and tasty, chips a bit hard and dry, batter a bit overdone, fish was nice though. I hope these are just temporary blips.
K. C.
Best chippy there is, cooked in beef dripping though so not vegan friendly if that floats your boat. Is the definitive 10/10 chippy in the entire county plus really nice seating and atmosphere in the bunker.
g. B.
Fantastic food. Staff are lovely and atmosphere is good. Love dining in the cellar. Portions are good.
j. m.
Brilliant. There was a large que, the manager was taking orders in the que to speed up the process. Saw me and my lass and reserved a rable for us. Price was really good. Would recommend the fish goujon with chips for £4.80 there were plenty of chips for the both of us to share.
F. F.
Some of the best fish and chips I've ever eaten. The cost is affordable and there is a lot of seating available in an annex and in what I believe is an old, renovated air raid shelter.
A. B.
Still the best if u want quality fish and chips. Most times cooked to order, good seating arrangement, friendly staff, its a must for Norwich fish and chips
L. A.
Best fish and chips in Norwich also have seating
P. B.
Probably the finest fish and chip emporium one could hope for. The service is friendly, quick and nothing is too much for the staff. Whatever you wish they will do. The word "jobsworth" has not been heard here. Order and pay for your choice and have it delivered to the pub opposite. If Carlesberg did fish and chips this would be it.
M. W.
The fish and chips here is wonderful as well as having a great atmosphere and really interesting dining area underneath the restaurant it is definitely worth checking out. The staff are incredibly friendly and I highly recommend Grosvenor Fish Bar to anyone looking for a nice place to eat in the city.
A. R.
Best fish n chips place ever. The hype is justified
R. L.
Amazing chippy in the heart of Norwich lanes and city. The standard choices of a chip shop but also great options as well, like toad in the hole. Great prices, quick service. Highly recommended
A. F.
My husband said they have good fish and chips -- I ordered the chicky chicky bang bang. The sauce was fantastic but the chicken tasted like fish so that was gross. The second time we went, we LOVED the fried green tomatoes and I got the BBLT and it was amazing. I'll definitely be getting the BBLT again!
M. D.
Best fish & chips for miles and miles by far , we have visited a few time's 😉 before and a week ago, and when lock downs over go eat downstairs its very cool
M. G.
My favourite Fish and Chip Shop. Had some of the best fish and chips deliveries out of there. 5* Quality Food
I. K.
More than a chip shop. Their specials will give you more options. Friendly and fast.
G.
Best Fish & Chips in the whole norfolk, prices are brilliant for what you get (especially the footlong sausage) and they even run it over to you in the pub so you can get a pint! service is always emaculate.
A. G.
Amazing menu selection - my personal favourite is the Wako Taco and the battered gerkins. You can get everything from your traditional fish and chips to beer battered bacon here. The owner is very friendly and the place has a great underground seating area. All the containers are recyclable too which is nicer than the styrofoam containers and plastic forks.
P. B.
Probably the finest fish and chip emporium one could hope for. The service is friendly and nothing is too much for the staff. Whatever you wish they will do. The word "jobsworth" has not been heard here. Order and pay for your choice and have it delivered to the pub opposite. If Carlesberg did fish and chips this would be it.
N. R.
What can you say about the Grosvenor fish and chip bar. Tasty fresh recently priced what else can you ask for. What is another little bonus, if you want to eat your fish and chips in the birdcage opposite that's the pub they will bring them into you so you can eat them in the pub win win.
G. W.
Not your average chippy! Great selection of food, some of which you don't find in most places. They're very efficient at serving, even when it's busy, and they'll even take it to the pub over the road if you fancy a drink with your food.
L. b.
Just had Cod and Chips, Haddock and Chips an shared mushy peas (one portion large enough for two)...all very enjoyable. If you visit Sat afternoon it is very small area to eat in, this gets very cosy! but good natured, worth a visit.
D. C.
Fish and chips catapulted into the 21st century! Great branding and decor, a fresh change from your usual silver counter, white tiles and greasy wall vibe you get from chippies.
Up there with Aldeburgh fish and chips for quality, and the staff are friendly.
Would 100% recommend making this a must-visit if you find yourself in Norwich.
J. T.
The Grosvenor Fish and Chip shop has gone from being a quiet barely busy chippie to being one of if not the busiest one and one of if not the best in Norwich. On the day my friend and I went there, the queue was as is per usual out of the door, and the American owner was asking people in the queue what they wanted. My friend had the last large cod with beans, I had a foot long sausage with chips and baked beans, both of us had a can of cream soda.
People can eat a whole variety of meals, an example is a bass with sass, another is a toad in the hole, plus the standard portion of chips.
We sat downstairs which has been refurbished by the owner, including other rooms. The old sweet shop next door is now another part of the premises.
I definitely recommend the place, and will be returning.
M. F.
Really lovely food and really helpful staff. Price is reasonable and an amazing range of options.
S. B.
Excellent food. Excellent service
J. B. (.
Large cod with medium fries. Yummilicious! We'll be back....again...and again!!!
L. R.
Best Fish and Chips in Norwich - don't forget to book your table, then go over to the Birdcage pub, grab a pint and take it in!! downstairs is really cool with a real 40's vibe.
D. R.
I love Grosvenor fish bar it's our favourite, cosy place to eat when it's not crowded 😊,me and my husband love the food and the cosy corners
S. H.
Chips beautifully cooked, amazing range of menu, i recommend the toad in the hole. Great atmosphere. Came here 2 years ago so made sure we visited when we came again to norwich
G. Y.
Best chips ever, amazing soft shell crab, delicious squid, perfect tuna - can't believe it's a chippy! Best value night out for years.
S. H.
Visited there for takeaway lunch . Excellent food even if too much to finish . Great menu choices . Would thoroughly recommend
M. B.
Well to be honest I thought it was just okay. A lot of hype but it was over rated. I have had better. The batter was bland the fish wet. The chips were good.Mind you it is very very busy.
z. g.
Fabulous! Always lovely crispy chips and fish. Menu is great, really good twists on plain old fish and chips. Everything delicious and friendly staff!
K. H.
Really swift and personable service for takeaway during COVID-19 lock-down. Fish wrap was gorgeous and employees were extremely pleasant! Thanks so much :)
R. P.
Excellent chip shop! Well worth a visit! One of the best I’ve ever been too.
Lovely staff!
B. H.
Loved the mackerel wrap, jolly staff and a swift service! A beer with my meal was a nice treat too. Didn't try the chips but if its as good as wraps then this will definetly be one of my locals.
J. L.
Everybody raves about this place and for good reason, the food is delicious, the staff great, the owner slightly eccentric (in a good sort of way) and the environment and location great. If it's sunny, take your food and sit on the grass outside. If it's not, head down to the underground seating area for a refreshingly mobile-phone-free experience.
T. B.
Very good chips and food, although overpriced in my opinion. Stalls in the market are much less cheaper and i believe taste better.
P. L.
The best fish and chips I've ever tasted in my life. Friendly staff and a cosy atmosphere underground to eat-in if you don't want to take away
G. P.
The staff here is very friendly. Really good fish and chips, traditional or fancy recipes for a reasonable price. Best fish bar in Norwich.
B. C. B.
The best chip shop in Norwich ! It's cheap. The portions are huge. The taste is amazing. A large choice. The room is lovely. I go there almost everyday.
S. D.
Amazing fish and chips with a stunning underground bunker seating area. The staff are nice, and you get served quickly and efficiently. Would recommend.
R. B.
Gourmet chip shop in the heart of the city. A chippy tea from Grosvenor never disappoints, whether it's a standard cod and chips or a wasabi fishcake. Offer a sit down service too, upstairs in the main shop, or downstairs in the cosy basement. If it's crowded though, which it sometimes can be, and you don't fancy eating in the cold, you can even take your food in the birdcage bar just opposite. Whether you're a Norwich citizen who has been living under a rock, or just visiting, you need to experience Grosvenor fish & chips.
a. m.
Definitely some of the best fish and chips in Norwich, but with the added bonus of the strange underground cavern where you can eat. I kind of miss the old days where it was grim and dirty down there but I guess that's why it closed in the first place.
I. V.
Great fish and chips. Lovely that you can eat the food next door at the pub if wanted. If not the underground crypt is equally cool and the music is great 👍
D. P.
Its got to be the best fish and chips in Norwich. Great friendly service too. Some 'out of the ordinary' items worth trying out.
W. T. -. C.
Great service and lovely owners! Definitely the best chips I've ever had..prior to becoming a veggie!
D. R.
Our new favourite place to eat in Norwich. Cool Fish & Chips. Chips are lovely, eat in or take out. Relaxed and funky. Forget McDonald's and Subway.. This is the place to eat on a day out in Norwich.
M.
By far the best fish and chip shop in Norwich. Staff are very polite and quick service. And I love the scenery downstairs.
M. 2.
Really good fish bar but very large line and it can take up to 35 minutes to order so I would highly recommend reserving a table.
L. D. (.
Great whitebait - massive portion! Good service system under current circumstances. This fish bar never disappoints.
D. S.
Friendly efficient service. Best chips in town! The owners will also go out their way to make sure you feel welcome.
J. L.
Best fish and chips I've ever had, wouldn't go anywhere else in Norwich
S. S.
This is in NORWICH. It's up near the church that's turned into an antiques EXERLANT fish and chips. It's in the trays through away. You can sit inside next door if you want to. This is a great chippy you WILL ENJOY
J. A.
I love this place. Great quality food, friendly service, good prices. Bonus of being able to pop across the pavement to The Birdcage and they will bring your order over for you to eat in there.
B. B.
Even tho it costs more than the average chippy the menu is extensive and its really good food.
D. C.
Great chips and cod, funky seating downstairs
B. B.
Delicious fish and chips I personally get haddock and mushy peas. Fast and friendly service with seating downstairs and beside.
N. M. H.
Excellent fish and chips. The portion is huge! If you are concerned about your diet but still want a good bite, get the Cod Goujon
M. T.
To call this place a chippie would be a disservice. While you can get all the old time favourites the specials are what set the Grosvenor apart from the rest. Whether taking out, ordering from the Birdcage or soaking up the ambiance from the 'cellar' you won't be disappointed.
B. D.
Awesome, good value, delicious, great seating area, cosy, eat here, you won't be disappointed
S. M.
Fantastic fish and chip restaurant. Price is more expensive than the typical fish and chip places, but the taste definitely reflects the price! Probably the best fish and chips in the city!
J. D.
A decent chippy. A very good range of choices. Good quality produce and not a bad price. Also a professional, friendly service.
C. J.
One of the best places to have your fish and chips as you well know.
D. J. I.
Fantastic fish and chip shop. Pop down stairs if you have time. A great little den awaits. The fish and chips are delicious.
K. T.
Best fish and chips in Norwich. Great selection of other options
K. D.
The best that you can get, excellent beef dripping and batter, perfection. Inventive and extensive menu.
C. S.
Came to the area on a short break, had chicken fillet and chips here - absolutely lovely food, can't fault the food or the service! Highly recommend it and will be visiting again :)
C. D.
I have visited and eaten at Grosvenor’s many, many times. The chips are brilliant as are the prices. The owners are great as well and are an asset to the Norwich restaurant scene.
n. t.
Excellent service, and fish and chips best I've had for a long time. Thank you.
M. C.
Hands down the best chip shop in Norwich City! The chips are great, the prices are very low and super fun to eat underground!!

T.
Best fish and chip shop in Norwich would highly recommend and great prices and large portitons :)
A. R.
Immense, immense fish and chips. Not just that, but a series of imaginative and well made alternatives too.
P. r. a.
Delicious place to have a typical English lunch or dinner. I will recommend it everyone. The waiters and waitresses are nice and I love the style of the restaurant
M. H.
The best traditional and innovatively quirky fish and chip shop in the city centre. Highly recommend the Big Mack. Fizz and Chips on Fridays is great too!
G. M.
Deleted my original 5 star review as quality has nosedived last few weeks. Still ok provided the staff listen to you, last two times my order was wrong. Finally said something tonight and was treated to some scurvy look s. Might be a long time before I go back. Shame really.
R. A.
Good chips, good range of other dishes, some healthier options. Reasonable prices. Some seating downstairs and next door, with toilets downstairs.
F. G.
Really cool little fish and chip shop. I love the air raid shelter styled cellar seating. Best fish and chips in Norwich!
G. H.
Very special place. Not "just" a fish and chips shop. Manager, and staff are very friendly, professional, and make everyone feel SPECIAL. Don't miss it!!
E. R.
Just great fish and chips family of five fed for less than £30. So good value too.
p. b.
Always Great. Tasty food, good prices for the quality, nice staff and great to be able to eat in their underground restaurant. Highly recommended!!!
J. S.
Best fish and chips in Norwich. Great meeting place.
S. B.
Best fish and chip shop in the city. Very popular which can mean queuing up for a few minutes but most definitely worth the wait.
g. c.
All a bit pretentious and hipster for me. If you are genderfluid binary and a millenial you will love it. The food is nice enough... but i dont really understand the rave reviews and its very uncomfortable to eat in/around
A. E. (.
Gorgeous chips, and really lovely staff!
My pups adore the chips too ❤
S. P.
Great selection of fresh fish and well set up to get your order quickly, even with a queue out the door. Easy stroll from St Andrew's car park

I was surprised at the extensive menu, as fish and chips are not my favourite. I had a Waco taco which tuned out to be a massive burrito.
T. W.
I used to love going here until I realised they fried in beef fat, so not very good for veggies/vegans! Hoping soon they will change to vegetable oil
