Huge variety of savoury and sweet waffles. The waffles themselves are light and always fresh. Their homemade yogurt was excellent. Very friendly staff. They are usually quite busy so don’t expect the fastest service. Extra seating area upstairs and good location in central Norwich. Reasonably priced for the choices you get and quality of food offered for a nice brunch

It was 10 years to the day of mine and hubby's first date so we wanted to go somewhere different. Hubby had always wanted to go here but never got the chance! Lovely staff, in an airy light seating area. Extensive choice of savoury and sweet toppings, aswell as a choice of what type of waffle (plain, wholegrain, gluten free). Nice selection of drinks to choose from too. The food came out cooked and fresh and delicious! Definitely recommend to people who like tasty, fresh, light food!

We've eaten here many times and I've always enjoyed it. The toilets are in a slightly obscure place, out the front door and up a flight of stairs, but it's a location that makes the most of its space and has a certain charm. Their breakfast waffles are amazing, and their chocolate mousse is the best I've had anywhere.

Lovely lunch in the most Norwichy Norwich lunch spot! 🧇 The Waffle House is always great - a Norwich speciality not seen everywhere else, so great for visitors and yet still a treat for locals too. Everything is on a waffle - except the bits that aren't! Student discount of 15% even on Saturdays, just show them your card. Food was nice and a choice of interesting 'salad (on a waffle)' combos as well as more traditional options. I didn't realize some brunch options are served all day, until I got plate envy after we'd ordered. Good selection of drinks, including milkshakes.

We went here for dinner and I was so surprised with their savoury festive waffles. The gravy, chicken and pork on the waffle tastes amazing, I would even say it was better than the dessert waffle I had after. My girlfriend compared the waffle covered in gravy to a Yorkshire pudding in a roast. The staff were friendly and I can't really think of anything that made them stand out. I just remember that they were very polite and helpful. The mulled wine really got me in the festive mood.

In the popular St Giles Street area of Norwich, The Waffle House has been a going for over 40 years! Serving a breakfast/brinch menu until 12 noon, and both savoury and sweet waffle dishes, there is a focus on free range and organic produce- you can even get wholemeal waffles! I also recently sampled their coffee for the first time and as a fussy Sydneysider it has my seal of approval 😊

A Norwich institution! Amazing veggie special at the moment I'm loving the chef's creativity. Often veggies feel a little short-changed whereas I had my husband looking a little longingly at mine :) The milkshakes are lovely but make sure you ask for them to be thick as sometimes they come a little on the thin side. Lovely atmosphere. Great job guys!!!

Took a while to be seated even with a table free but once we were, what an experience! Waffles were excellent, my toppings (chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream) were incredible, and received very positive reviews of the apples, whipped cream, cookies & cream ice cream and maple syrup from other members of my party. Great experience all round.

It's been a few years since we visited due to covid etc, and there is always a danger that places are not as good as you remember them, but not in this case. Stunning waffles with a new menu and retaining some of the old classics as well, there is nothing quite like it that I have come across else where. We ended up here because the Mexican we were going to was shut. It was really different but it worked. The food was delicious and it felt like the restaurant was run by a family. I have read in some previous reviews that the service was poor. I can tell you it was nothing of the sort. Service was quick even though they were busy. Portion were good and quality of food was great, definitely worth trying. They didn't skimp on the ingredients which was massive plus. Only thing I would add for the restaurant is to add a touch of sourness to the cherry bakewell sauce but that is a personal choice. Wrth a visit.

So is it any good or just a load of all waffle? We went on a 50% off day so the prices were good. Started with a mixed berry milkshake- wow, to die for. I had the Greek salad waffle as a main. Wasn't the best but an 8 out of 10, so up there. Desert was the cooked in berries and ice cream. Sounded great, but a bit lame. My Mother had the bannoffee which sounded and looked fantastic. Staff were amazing and the place was clean and very presentable. Nice place for something a little different. Worth checking out.

It's somehow become a tradition to come here on this day every year for lunch! The Waffle House offers both sweet and savory waffles, both of which are incredibly filling and good for value. Also provide clear gluten free and vegetarian labels on the menu as to provide for everyone! Gluten free waffles available.

Ah Waffle House - Now a cornerstone of Norwich’s dinning heritage. It’s not haute cuisine, but it’s really enjoyable food, well run (like a tight ship), with excellent service. It’s worth a visit, if you savoury and sweet waffles. I enjoy the chocolate mousse there. The place is fab.

Love the waffle House been twice now in as many months, after not going for many years and wondered why I haven't been going. Had a lovely meal out this evening with my amazing friend. Who wouldn't let me pay my way (grrrr) but it was my birthday (they even sung haply birthday to me. Amazing meal I had the days special curry and my friend had the mushrooms with cheese sauce for mains both were amazing. Then for dessert I had dark chocolate moose with honeycomb and vanilla ice cream my friend had picans in butterscotch sauce. Had an amazing meal, Will be going back again soon. The service was great had two different members of staff and both were great. Unfortunately can't let anyone know prices but will take a pic of the menu next time I'm in.

This place a regular stop during our trips to Norwich. My wife grew up in the city and the Waffle House has been a favourite of hers for years. Our recent trip left us relieved that the place has survived the pandemic and is still on top form. They were even good enough to let us know the ingredients of their blue cheese sauce which my wife has raved about for years. Honestly - that scrap of paper is being framed as we speak. Such a friendly and welcoming interior, with wonderful staff. A gem to find within Norwich, and the perfect place to people watch. Would recommend for a dessert waffle or a laidback meal. Prices are very decent too. £5.90 for a large dessert waffle. We also stayed 10 minutes past the closing time and staff were so lovely about it! It can be cramped at busy times and you may have to wait for a table, but it’s worth the wait.

(1000th review!) One of the things I miss most about living in Norwich is the Waffle House. Fantastic waffles (can opt for a healthier wholewheat blend, or rice flour - plenty of GF options), with a huge variety of toppings - savoury and sweet - creating a whole meal. Plus, regular meals on the specials such as salmon salads and other goodies. Personal favourite is the Dutch, always with extra butterscotch sauce. Also highly recommend the milkshakes - malt is my favourite. A not-so-hidden gem of the city; will always come back when visiting.

My waffle deli platter was fine. Nothing exceptional, nothing wrong with it. Response from the owner 2 weeks ago Oh Rachel, how disappointing to be so mediocre! What can we do to up the game? Response to owner: Really appreciate you asking for more feedback - firstly the slice of parma ham was extremely thin and was smoothered by the foods put on top of it so couldn't taste it - needs to be a bit thicker sliced and rolled and put at the side (and maybe more than 1 piece). The hummus just tasted like the stuff you get in a supermarket - nothing special about it - so I'd taste test other versions to have a bit more about it. The cheese again didn't have anything special about it - I'd replace the grated with a chunk and make sure it's flavoursome (something like a cheddar cruncher) and the mozzarella either needs to be buffalo mozzarella or swapped for something else with a bit of character and serving it with a bit of bazil would be good as you could then eat it along with some of the sundried tomato, I'd also add a bit of antipasti that isn't so run of the mill - such as aritchoke or aubergine or the sweet red peppers filled with cream cheese! Hope that helps

A Norwich institution that was a favourite place to eat during my youth, particularly back in the 80s when vegetarian options were less common in the city. I visited today for the first time in about 20 years and it was still fantastic - coffee is top notch, the waffle with dark chocolate mousse is to die for, and the service is friendly. I would share pictures, but it was too good to waste time on cameras! Before we get on to the food, lets talk about the lovely, intelligent, receptive and responsive staff, who are absolutely charming. Lets talk about the atmosphere, which is buzzing, but relaxed, family oriented but fine for romantic couples (it was me and my Mrs on a rare lunch out). Now, lets talk about the waffles - lush, crisp, flavourful, while also carrying the toppings beautifully, the cheese sauce present in many of the dishes is decadent, the food fresh and obviously carefully and intelligently prepared. The dessert waffles are even better - imaginative, attractive on the plate and very good on the tastebuds. Gluten free is a touchy subject to many restaurants - not here. Couldn't be better. Must just go and ask the wifey when we are going again...

Top marks in every way. Amazing food but make sure you get there early… We arrived five minutes before the restaurant opened and we were the first people there but within 20 minutes the place was full and people queueing outside… With good reason… Stands the food was superb and everything about it was quite unique and it’s easy to see why this place is such a roaring success… Don’t miss out in on your trip to Norwich without visiting this place because it is very different and a great foody experience . I would thoroughly recommend coming here for breakfast… The coffee is also superb!

It's been a while, but worth the wait. I had my usual the fish special which was smoked haddock. The girls had Bolognese, and ham with cheese sauce. I have been going for decades and never had bad food or service. Long may they stay open, and providing the delicious food that they create. For a special desert their chocolate mousse is superb with vanilla ice cream. For those adventurous ones amongst you try the Horlicks milkshake.

The blue cheese salad dressing and the chocolate mousse are favourites but I cannot choose a favourite main as everything I have tried so far has been delicious. They don't take table bookings here so get in early or be prepared to wait. It is a good place to eat if wanting an early meal before heading to the theatre or a gig.

Really great food and pleasant service. This is, by the name, a very unique experience; everything served is a waffle dish, both savoury and sweet. The savoury meals we had were delicious, I went for the BBQ Sausage which had basic ingredients but obviously well thought out to be minimal and intriguing in taste. Labelled as 'award winning sausages', they certainly tasted like it served with cheddar cheese and a very fruity BBQ sauce. Desserts were delicious too, the waffles on all our meals having a great texture and dessert toppings being good quality and great taste. I can highly recommend the Waffle House, we will certainly be visiting again.

Yep, really good. Before 12 is breakfast themed waffles, after noon it's the main menu including the sweet/dessert ones. There's usually a few specials on and there's a normal selection of tea/coffee/soft drink/beers. It's a little cramped and at peak times there will be a wait for tables but it's nice and the staff are friendly. The kitchen is exposed and the chef even thanked us on exit which is pleasant. Children are very welcome.

We had the bolognese waffle and a sweet waffle with ice cream and syrup. The problem was that the waffle was not warm as I expected. It was quite hard and with the bolognese was not as bad as it soaked the sauce and the texture got better, but with the ice cream it was a disappointment. The waffle needs to be warm in order to soften the ice cream.. I mean I am no expert but I have eaten so many waffles in my life that this does not make the cut of even the ordinary waffles. Had I know this I would ask them to have it warm.

I have been visiting the Waffle House for more years than I can remember, and the food and service are always good. I have taken many of my family here, and we always enjoy the meal, the atmosphere can be great, but sometimes it is too busy and noisy. Families are welcome. The seating can be a bit hit or miss, the window seats can be great but some of the others are cramped. My last visit was a busy week day lunch time, so I secured a table in the gangway, not the best seat in the house. Service was swift and efficent, we were in and out in the alloted lunch hour. The food was good, but just didn't seem as tasty as usual, but perhaps that was me. I will need to sample again.

As long as you love waffles then it's fine, it's not as if we wasn't expecting the menu to revolve around Waffles (it's called the Waffle House) there are limited choices that don't involve waffles... So in summary... If you love savoury and sweet waffles you'll be in heaven... If you prefer a wider choice... Go find somewhere else..!! Food was prepared well and tasty... Sweet waffles are amazing with big scoops of whatever acompliment you opt for... I certainly came satisfied and would definately go back again, maybe for breakfast next time.

There are always interesting things to try on the menu, although many people seem apprehensive about have curry on a waffle it really is delicious. The staff are always so friendly, cannot fault the service at all. Dropped in here recently with my partner and her family. They'd been here before but it was the first time for me. Service was friendly, everyone was nice and seemed like nice people. The food wasn't bad either, everything is served on a waffle (hence the name waffle house). I had bbq sausages with bbq sauce and coleslaw. Bit spicy but it was a nice dish. Had a banoffee waffle for afters (You can choose small or large waffles by the way). It was definitely something I'd have again as that was delicious. Only downer was the wait between main and dessert. Seemed to have taken an awful long time. Despite this though it was a nice little place and would go again.

I have a huge soft spot for this restaurant. The food is absolutely fantastic, the staff are brilliant and the venue is quietly unassuming. I normally eat so much there that I need to get home and slip into a quiet food coma. The prices are very reasonable, but not cheap. You pay for quality :) The crockery all used to made by a local potter and friend of mine call Robin Dauncy. Sadly Robin has passed away, but there are still pieces that he made in use that have his name on the pottery (RB), which connects me back to Robin :) You can substitute the waffle for rice or have a gluten free version. Great food, fantastic staff, go on, treat yourself.

What a find! I was apprehensive at first as my husbands the one with the sweet tooth and I wasn’t sure i would find anything I’d like. How wrong was I?!? I opted for a savory breakfast waffle which seemed odd to me at first but it was delicious and by far the most interesting breakfast I’ve had in a long time. I went for the Breakfast Hash - chorizo, sautéed potatoes, peppers, feta and smoked pepper dressing! It’s was beautiful presented too good to eat (almost), I obviously cleaned my plate!!! My husbands sweet waffle was equally as tasty (blueberry, maple and pecan), the vanilla infused yoghurt was beautifully refreshing. This is probably considered blasphemy in Norwich but I found this place unimpressive. I loved going here as a kid when I would have sweet dishes and I had fond memories. However, I made the mistake of returning as an adult. I no longer have much of a sweet tooth so thought I'd have a savoury dish. It wasn't terrible but just quite bland. It just lacked seasoning and didn't taste of too much. That being said I know a number of people who do like it so maybe it's just me.

The atomsphere really adds to the whole experience, the wooden tables the stoneware made by a local potter the theme fits the food which fits the location, a real gem of Norwich.
