Now we all know I'm a Weatherby Whaler fan and have exceptionally high standards, so I was amazed that it took me a good 40minutes to eat my food. The fish was crispy and pure white throughout, not greasy but just right. The chips were well cooked and fluffy in the middle, which shows a perfect cook. Mushy peas were delightful and I throughly enjoyed my meal, the people in the shop were polite and well spoken, enquiring where I was walking to etc so overall - yes I would return.

First had some chips when I collected & delivered the owner’s car for Vertu motors which were very good so payed them a visit after doing some shopping me and my partner had Cod, chips & mushy peas the takeaway meal was great the chips were soft on the inside and tasty, the mushy peas were hot and a thick consistency not runny like most places & the fish where WOW a large Cod with a light batter very tasty 10/10 from us.

I have been trying chips and cheese all over the East Midlands and so far this one has been my favourite. The chips were fried to perfection with a crispy exterior encompassing a pleasantly textured fresh chip. It was topped with the perfect amount of cheese which was flavourful yet not overpowering and melted to the optimum level. The servers were also amicable and served us very efficiently. I would highly recommend this 'Chippie'

I moved from Gedling to Carlton and was using my old chip shop until I gave this one a try. The owner here worked at my old chip shop in Gedling and his food and portions are brilliant! I’ve never seen a fish as big as the one here I’d 100% recommend

The best fish and chips I've had in a long time. I was off work and decided to grab a treat for my daughter and me. I was unsure whether to get large cod or medium haddock as I prefer haddock but didn't know how big 'medium' would be. I needn't have worried. The owner happily showed me an unbattered haddock, and they were cooked fresh for me. Fish was fresh, hot and nicely flakey when I got it home. Just the right amount of batter. The regular portions of chips were very generous. Battered sausage was fine (hard to go wrong but some places do!) and the curry sauce I ordered was nice and thick, not watery like some places. Daughter was amazed with it all, stating it was delicious. I didn't disagree! I was genuinely happy to find somewhere local that does a great fish and chips. Everything hot, fresh and not too oily. These folks know how important it is to get the oil hot enough. I'll definitely be returning, the beef stew with chips special I saw advertised sounds great, will have to give it a try soon.

We called in for a snack after a night out. Easily the best piece of fish I have ever had. The batter was delicious. Not greasy and a lovely crisp texture. Didn't have chips but I bet they are as good. Will definitely use again. Wish they did a delivery service though. Recommended

This fish bar has always been a favourite but last week I ordered mini fish chips & peas which is all served together, by the time we came to eat it had all turned quite soggy, so next time it’s all going to be wrapped separately. A great ordering system is in operation whilst standing in the queue.

This is a great Fish and Chip shop. It was in the same family for years. Taken over recently by a husband and wife team. They are both so lovely and has retained the same 1st class standard as the previous owner. Always a pleasure to visit my family in Nottingham and buy my tea from here. Family still rave about the standard of the food and the generous portions on offer. Keep up the great work.

Called in on way home from garden center and had the lunch time special which was mini fish chips peas - I swopped out my peas for curry sauce. The food was excellent more than enough for lunchtime meal - wife gave me half of her fish as she was 'stuffed'. Staff were very pleasant and accomdatin with the swop from peas to sauce at no extra charge - highly recommended 😋

The food is amazing. Lived here in carlton for 17 years why have I only just tried this place.food options are fantastic. Been here few times in last few weeks after work. Stew steak and chips is my go to . Just had the best fish and chips in the NG4 area without a doubt, the fish was huge more like whale and chips, Dean the new owner is a nice bloke and even if he was rushed still had time for a chat and a laugh. Please try this little unassuming chippy you will not be disappointed, loads of different stuff to choose from even got Yorkshire fish cakes (don't ask me but sound nice) must go now I have a serious food baby.

In these difficult times,, Dean the owner has done a fantastic job in making his chip shop safe to visit with social distancing and a pre-order system on the doorstep. That aside, excellent fresh fish cooked to order as well as range of home cooked dishes such as steak and kidney and balti which offers something a bit different. I love the fact its spotlessly clean (5 star cleanliness rating) too. Dean and his staff are very friendly and welcoming and its always a nice atmosphere. IMO the best chippy in the Carlton/Gedling area by a distance.
