We went here for breakfast. Interior is decorated nicely, and the staff were nice. And if you are seated near the window, it's lovely to people-watch early morning. But sadly, breakfast options are very average. I ordered a stack of pancakes, and I found them pretty dry, didn't have enough syrup and found it hard to finish.

Not as impressed as I used to be. The atmosphere and setting is as lovely as always however the quality of the food is nowhere near as good as it used to be and with fish pie priced at £12.95 with no vegetables or sides whatsoever you would expect it to be delicious and it wasn’t. I ordered a side portion of broccoli for £3.75 and after eating my almost £17 meal I was still hungry. It wasn’t terrible just not as good as it has been (I had the same meal pre-pandemic) and I wouldn’t chose to return.

Very basic and safe choices for main food menu items but has a charm with its decor and service. A great place to go for all times of the day and not overly pricey for the appearance. Would visit again and thoroughly enjoyed the food.

Came here with work colleagues, we weren't able to go in until our booked time. Restaurant was very busy, tables were a good space apart. There is a great choice of foods on both the normal menu and Christmas set menu, including starters - halloumi fries, olives, soup, garlic bread and truffle sprouts. Main courses - lobster and seafood linguine, beetroot and goats cheese risotto, nut roast dinner and boxing day curry. Puddings - cheesecake, ice cream, cheese board and snow nuts. Definitely need to book and be patient with the service.

Quiet and not crowded mid week dinner at Bill's, courteous staff and very efficient service. Good food and cleanliness. Personally tried the seasonal burger (see picture), nice spicy kick and perfect crispness.

The waitress was very friendly and helpful. My dessert, the triple fudge brownie, was to die for it just melted in your mouth. My main course of macaroni and cheese was disappointing. It was not very flavourful, however, the small side salad was delicious. I love the restaurants decor and ambience and the presentation of the food. I would definitely return, but will avoid the macaroni and cheese.

Today was my birthday and my wife took me as a treat. Service was okay but we had to wait a while for our drinks, it would have been okay but the restaurant was not even quarter full and staff were chatting. The waitress we had struggled to understand and we had to repeat ourselves a couple of times. We ordered our main course, my wife had the chicken skewers and I had the chicken burger and on both the chicken was over cooked. The best thing was the dessert my wife had the salted caramel and chocolate tart and I had the strawberry doughnuts. These were great and the highlight of our meal. All in all was not the best

Great food and amazing staff! The man who seated us was very kind in finding us a table in a place we wanted and our waitress was lovely! The food itself was pretty good and the service was quick. My only complaints would be that the student discount wasn't available (on Fridays and Saturdays) and the service charge added onto the bill does not go directly to the waitress who served you. Would definitely come again as was priced alright and there was a great atmosphere!

Lovely eclectic setting, lots of chandeliers and distressed wood, comfy chairs & decent gaps between tables. Staff very helpful and friendly & and definitely add to a good night out. We chose the 16.95 3 course. Soup delicious, chicken dry & chips very crispy. Steak was cooked well & pink but dudnt think £3.50 extra was warranted. Deserts lovely (donuts & salted caramel tart we were 50/50). Didn't complain as for under £20 we got what we expected an average cooked but tasty & nicely presented 3 course dish. Don't lose the staff they were lovely and made our night

Why 4 stars, because of 1 thing, the food was excellent. You do get big portions for the price you pay, well worth it. The staff were excellent also, even when we had a problem with a desert, they dealt with it very professionally But the downfall for me was the price of beer and the beer itself. I like pints of beer and ales, but they only had bottled beers which you pay for are half pints, not for me. If you like lager or a choice of wines, there are plenty to choose from. Apart from that, we had a brilliant night.

Nice food, well cooked and a reasonable price. The staff were very good. This shows in how popular and busy the place is. The only down side for me, they put a 12.5% service charge on the bill which I think is a little to much. It does say on the bottom of the menu that they do this, but it's easily missed and the staff don't tell you. Other places I've been who automatically add a service charge only add between 7.5 & 10%

We had a great experience having our wedding reception hosted here. Sarah (the manager) and her team were very supportive throughout. Not only was the food and drinks amazing, they made the whole experience a delight heavily reducing our burden and going out of their way to order from their warehouse some items to really make the day feel extra special. This place! Went for dinner and then breakfast the next morning. Wait staff on both occasions were lovely, recommending some delicious food. They weren't too intrusive (jumping in asking how food was too often or too quickly) and the food itself was delicious, my only comment, my poached eggs lacked a little flavour I also LOVED the nutrional values being online, as someone who has to keep a high protein diet this was very helpful Such an underated little place!

OK - don’t understand the hype. Food was average, portions were small and over priced, we aren’t a greedy family in any way but my husband had to order two mains to feel satisfied. Our children all finished their meals and were still hungry after - this never happens. Received the bill to find a £9 service charge on the receipt! Although the place itself is nice to sit in and staff were friendly, I wouldn’t recommend for families / couples who are looking for a decent meal. More suited as a quick stop off for a drink and light bite to eat.

Great service and great food as always. Wove going to a Bill's. We've made it out aim to try and go to as many as possible and this one in Nottingham is one of our faves. We love the décor and the atmosphere of a Bill's restaurant and the staff re always helpful and friendly. Even better is that with my Blue light card, I get 20% off the whole bill too!

Nice breakfast, service is friendly not really equipped for pushchairs I have to say as we just felt totally in the way. However no one really minded so that's not really a negative comment against the restaurant. The only thing I don't agree with is that they add a service charge onto the bill automatically it's very Americanised and not necessary. Most people will leave a tip if the service is good without having to feel as though they don't have a choice.

I have been to Bill's once a few years ago and had one of their vegan Glow bowls which was excellent and I was looking forward to going again this time. Again for lunch, but this time I found the menu options a bit limited and opted for a burger which was fine but overall I was a bit underwhelmed by the whole experience.

Fries cold. Steak perfect. Salad garnish was a large (?) pinch of watercress (?). Staff pleasant and polite and very accommodating. Menu difficult to read unless you have perfect vision. Staff member did give a ipad to help my visually impaired partner read the menu, as my eyesight isn't too good either.. On the whole not impressed. Staff were stunningly helpful tho'.

If you are looking for contemporary European food with decent prices then Bill's might be for you. Located on Queen street in the centre of Nottingham in a nice period building. The set menu is normally good at a great price. Staff is nice and friendly but service can get a little slow if the place is full. If you are going on a Friday or Saturday night then make sure you book a table.

I wish they didn't have that flower arrangement or whatever it is outside their door that makes you think that you can come in wearing only gucci and it will cost you half a salary to eat there, but it turned out to be an amazing breakfast place. I can only recommend this place! We had breakfast here on Sunday. At the entrance, one is allocated a seat although thia can be a temporary one when the restaurant is jam-packed. I was extremely pleased with my porridge which I requested to be made of soil mik. The staff is well-prepared to serve clients with allergy. The egg meals are made of carefully selected ingredients and the portions are huge.

I know what you’re thinking - it’s just a Bill’s. It’s a chain. It’s probably mediocre at best. Well, think again. This Bill’s regularly has queues out the door (I’ve been to Nottingham twice and it had queues both times, so I am an expert on this matter). The range in the menu is impressive and quality of food - top class. Would thoroughly recommend.

The meal was very enjoyable but only earned a three star because I wasn't a fan of the mismatch aesthetic. I understand that some people can get behind this design but personally it was uncomfortable. On another note, I disliked the rosemary seasoned chips. Odd policy about payment, you have to pay by the table all at once at the end. So you can't pay separately for drinks if you arrive early. Disabled accessible with a ramp at the front door. Never ever had a bad meal from here. My favorite place for breakfast in Nottingham by MILES. Lots of options on all the menus, catering to meat lovers, vegetarians, vegans, gluten free, dairy free - you name it! Such lovely vibes inside, staff are ALWAYS friendly and helpful. Will ALWAYS recommend. Great for lunch with a friend, a family meal, a date... There's something for everyone and for every occasion.

Massively quirky diner experience, and great mid city fixed price lunch 2 or 3 courser. Beer is all bottled and a little pricey, but I did love their own brand ginger beer which was a great accompaniment to the calamari and sea bass plates I chose on the menu. The calamari starter was good quality calamari rings coated in a spicy/crumby coating. It was served with chunks of fresh red chilli, which I thought a bit much on arrival, but worked very well. The sea bass was probably a little overcooked, but was very decent all the same (probably to most British people's taste) served with a herby butter mash and a tomato coulis. My two course fish lunch actually felt authentically Spanish, the price being not a million miles off the low cost restos I have visited there also. The staff were massively attentive and very well trained. The only issue for me was the the wax and paper sheets used to serve greasy starters on. Clearly not recyclable and basically not necessary to the detriment of the environment. I have also been informed that not much of the 12.5% service charge finds itself realistically into the pockets of the serving staff (although am not sure how this impacts on kitchen based staff). I really cannot approve of this practice as a "service charge" sells itself as a direct and undiluted reward for the servers of the food, but many businesses skim off the top to their own profit and advantage. We therefore refused the service charge, but left the same amount as a cash tip (which ends up in the floor staff's pockets). Recommended.

Came here for the first time on Saturday 3/3/18 for my birthday tea. We'd booked a table the day before and looking at how busy it was I'd definitely recommend doing so. The restaurant wasn't overcrowded or too noisy but I wouldn't want to just turn up and be disappointed. They serve a variety of food, I wouldn't really be able to place them into a category (check out their menu for yourself) Starters: I had halloumi sticks, F1: Chicken Skewers, F2: Callamari. We also shared some cheesy-garlic foccacia. Mains: I had Gnocchi Bolognese, F1: Mac and cheese with crispy bacon, F2: Rare sirloin steak (cooked perfectly according to her) with fries and pea shoots. Drinks: Coffees, cocktails, cloudy apple juice, water Service: Absolutely amazing. The 21 year old escape room enthusiast serving us was wonderful. He always had time for a quick chat when he was near the table or to be talked AT by us (mostly about how he was really young and wouldn't know what the Generation Game was 👵) I would definitely recommend Bill's to other people, in fact I already have been and want to come back again soon!

Starting with the best bit, the service was great and really stood out, very helpful and polite staff. Next, the presentation of the food was surprisingly high, everything looked fantastic and it felt like real effort had been put into how both the food and drinks looked. Finally, the only downside was that that the food itself was merely good, certainly not bad by any means but it was nothing special. As an extra note they do automatically tack on an optional service charge to the bill, I'm personally not a fan of automatic inclusion of those and having to opt out but the service did stand out to me so I didn't mind so much in this instance. In summary you're mainly paying for service and looks in my opinion.

Came in today at 5.30pm with a booked table for 2. Immediately the service we received was off. The party of 3 young women before us were greeted with smiles and asked if they booked etc. before being escorted to their table. When it came to us at the front of the queue, the same server just stared blankly at us and start bluntly “Can I help?” almost assuming we didn’t have a booking. I requested a quiet table which wasn’t fulfilled but an hour or so after we were seated, a couple after us were sat in the quiet part of the restaurant (where there were other empty tables available). We had a different server to order with who barely gave us a chance to take our jackets off to ask us for drinks. Once we ordered, the food arrived and actually tasted good however we were asked how the food was before we could even take two bites. After we were done, our plates were collected with no offer of a dessert menu or drinks. We were left with our bill and 12.5% discretionary tip added and had our card on the table for 10 minutes before someone came over albeit telling the server when we received our bill that we will need the card machine. I said I will not be paying the discretionary service as we barely received any good service whilst observing other tables who were well looked after. There was no ask for feedback regarding this. We felt very dismissed and forgotten about even though we entered the restaurant ready to spend and enjoy 2 courses and drinks. We didn’t feel welcome and thus left after 1 course. (We were never even offered the dessert menu after all..)

The red wine was £25 a bottle which again for the resteraunts theme/price base just didn't fit - too expensive. A bubbly place to visit & the staff were great and a worthy 3 stars.

My wife and I are unfamiliar with Nottingham but found ourselves looking for a place to eat there as we were in town to attend a Paul Simon concert. We hadn't heard of Bill's (we really should get out more) and found the restaurant by chance. We were very pleased with the whole experience. The food and service were excellent and the decor much more interesting than you might expect. The restaurant has a "shop" theme as the company originally started out as a store and you can purchase a selection of own brand products. We will definitely seek them out again on our travels. Highly recommended.

One of my favourite cafés in the centre of Nottingham. Good food and drink, prompt friendly service and nice and clean. Public bike stands straight outside so can keep an eye on your bike. Also next to speakers corner so you often have some characters outside sharing their view of the world!

Rating this 4 as all round it's a smashing place. Staff are usually very friendly and the food/drinks are always great. Would be a 5 if it wasn't for 2 constantly reoccurring things. 1. No straws in drinks that are filled with crushed ice, the staff tell me every time Bills is trying to be more environmentally friendly. If this is the case invest in paper straws. Crushed ice + no straw = un-drinkable. 2. Every time we get our bill the staff suddenly disappear for 15 mins. When customers want to pay up, let them. It is so frustrating when you have elsewhere to be, and now you have to actually wait forever to settle up.
