Wow. I recommended eating here with a few colleagues without actually having been before. A risky choice but everyone agreed that the food was amazing. I'd only ever eaten Shri Lankan food once before and wanted another go. Selfish perhaps :-)
Service was attentive and not over-zealous as we waited for one of our party to arrive. Starters appeared and set the expectations of good food for the rest of the evening. After a while, the owner, Don came over a chat. A nice gesture.
The mains were full of flavour and each one was delicious. We over-ordered somewhat but that gave everyone a chance to try other dishes. It was a resounding success.
The only negative was with two of the party ordering the IPA. Both wouldn't have it again. Not the restaurants fault per se. Maybe they could expand their offerings in that area.
I'm already planning on returning. An amazing addition to Nottingham's restaurant scene.

The food here is so delicious and authentic! I’ve been here almost every weekend since they opened and I can’t recommend it more.
The staff is lovely and smiley, it feels like a family run passion project which definitely comes through in the food.
The coco chicken kottu is the best, as is their fried cauliflower. We also had the yellow rice with the shrimp curry and that too was spectacular.

Excellent Customer Service & Delicious food 😍 🍛 😋
They have various Sri Lankan cuisine and other menus.
If you are a food lover looking for high-quality, delicious food, this is the best place in the town.
Highly recommended 👍!!!

This is hands down the best Sri Lankan food I have had in the U.K. Being an Asian I struggle to find the authentic taste and flavours of Asian food in this country but after dining at Colombo Street, it has become one of my favourite restaurants. I live in Bristol and at times I drive all the way to Nottingham to dine in the restaurant and I tell you that long drive has been worth it every single time. The staff there is very welcoming and makes sure that you get the best service and food. The live kitchen is also one of the best features of this restaurant as you can see that your food is being handled by professionals and with utmost hygiene. I’d undoubtedly recommend it to every single person.

Delicious food and warm friendly staff. Great customer service.
Lorna managed to squeeze us in at last minute on a Saturday night. Which was wonderful. Manager checked in, with us to ensure we were ok,... made us feel special & valued.
We will be going back for sure.
M. M.
Great experience, food was so different and tasty. Some great vegetarian and vegan options. Waiter/manager spent time with us even though he was very busy. Will recommend to friends and will def return. Thank you for a lovely evening xx

First came across Colombo Street at the British Street Food Awards at Chow Down in Leeds and was taken to their new restaurant in Nottingham as a birthday surprise.
The food was delicious and oozing of authentic Sri Lankan flavours.
10/10 hoppers, delicious coco-chicken kottu and the Halloween special- pumpkin curry 🎃 (and much more! See pics 🐷). Had the Lion stout which pairs very well with the food and has a great kick.
They have a really cool live kitchen, where you can watch Sri Lankan dishes being made, which really adds to the overall dining experience 🤩
Brilliant interior with colonial vibes, varied menu & most importantly a very warm and welcoming atmosphere.. reminiscent of being in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰
I would definitely recommend a visit! ✅

We were pleased with the service quality, however the meals were far from being amazing. It was our first Sri Lankan culinary experience, hence why we can't evaluate how authentic this restaurant is. Nonetheless the Sri Lankan soft drinks exceeded our expectations, they were tasty.
M. S.
Fantastic food, never tried this kind of cuisine before and it was an absolute treat. Very filling so make sure you leave enough room! The staff were very friendly and the venue had a lovely atmosphere. Definitely would recommend!
T. M.
Insanely good food. Absolutely loved every bite and the service was great too. It's also refreshing to see so many vegan options on the menu! We ordered 8 small dishes and were still spoilt for choice. Highly recommended!

Great Sri Lankan food. The Mutton roll and jackfriut cutlet starters were fresh and tasty. The variety of curries are excellent, I had the Negombo prawn curry and Southern fish curry both are mouthwatering! With each main you get 3-4 different sri lankan condiments which burst with flavour. Staff are great, thanks to Rashaan for looking after us so well. Would highly recommend!

Good décor.
Saturday night was busy, so it took a while to get the food. Quantity is surely less for the money you pay. be prepared to order some starters before the mains. Drink + starter+ main = £ 35 dont forget to add £10 for car parking in NCP.
service is actually good. staff are pleasant.

Every review so far of Colombo Street is 5*
Well, I'm not going to go against that. This place is amazing, a proper 5* restaurant.
Went for the mutton hopper feast (which is goat meat) and being honest when it came out, I thought "that's not much", but believe me, it was filling!
All of the components of the dish were stunning. The hopper pancakes are crisp and paper thin at the edges and doughy at the center. The onion sambal is unctuous, the coconut sambal - lovely and the dhal is as good as I've had.
The mutton (goat) curry was tender, spicy and tasty.
Also ordered a side of aubergine moju. Don't know how long they cooked this for, but it was ages. The aubergine was like toffee.
All this, plus fantastic staff. So friendly and attentive, but not all over you.
The Lion stout is lovely and works well with the food, but careful, it's 8.8 %!
Super place. Highly recommended.

What an awesome little find; great food; fresh, spicy, authentic - the Coconut Sambol and Hoppers were crazy-tasty (like 10 x better than a certain very-cool London restaurant chain that shares the same name 😉) Warm and friendly staff and fun pop-art themed interior. So cool to see a small family-run business doing something really original, with so much passion and talent - we love to see it, and we’ll definitely be back for more!!
M. B.
Unbelievably good restaurant!! Some of the best food I have ever had. I would highly recommend it! Service is quick and really nice. It is wise to book as it's always really busy
S. K.
Nice change to your usual curry. A Sri Lankan flavour, well presented with tasty options. Staff welcoming and friendly, prices reasonable, and it's in a good location in the heart of Nottingham. Clean and comfortable, recommended as an alternative to a traditional meat, slop and rice curry..
S. D.
We ate here for the 1st time last night & it was delicious. We tried a couple of platters as this cuisine was new to us. We had the Coco chicken Kottu & the southern fried fish curry. Both delicious. Staff very friendly & helpful. Our only criticism was that the majority of staff wore masks & not visors which made it extremely hard to hear & understand what they were saying in the noisy, lively restaurant. Will definitely be back.
a. j. o.
An absolute must ….an authentic taste of Sri Lanka (recommend the chicken curry although all of the food was outstanding) with a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, the manager/owner is friendly and welcomes his guests, nothing is too much trouble, a hidden gem. So glad we found you …be back soon
S. K.
The Sri Lankan food here is to die for and very authentic…it took me straight back to the beaches of Hikkaduwa!
We shared the lentil wadey, hopper platter and rice platter and they did not disappoint. The dishes were so flavoursome and we thoroughly enjoyed them all. The portions are huge so you could probably share one platter between you if you didn’t have a big appetite…though it was nice to have a variety of dishes to choose from and taste!
Vegan options are clearly labelled and there are also veggie & gluten free options as well as meat. Really nice to even see vegan dessert options which often isn’t the case elsewhere!
The server was also very friendly and helpful and a credit to the restaurant, she recommended lots of dishes and was very quick to refill our water jug and provide extra chilli paste as soon as we got low.
I’d highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, whether you’ve been to Sri Lanka or not.

Great mix of dishes, full of flavour and great price!
Will be visiting again soon.
Very conveniently located near the tram stop.
Like the food, the interior decor is 👌

Definitely worth a visit or visits if in Nottingham and craving a flavoursome meal! Ordered from the Ceylon dining menu as we visited for dinner, but there is a tapas style menu offered during the day. A wide variety of truly Sri Lankan dishes to try. Really enjoyed everything that we ordered. The Chicken Wings starter and Egg Hoppers are must try items. The staff was very friendly and the service was excellent. The restaurant also has a great atmosphere with the unique Sri Lankan inspired deco.

Had an absolutely amazing experience! We ordered some kothu to begin with to see if it was worth going all out. The order then came fairly quickly and we were blown away by the flavours! Not too spicy where it becomes unbearable, but just the right amount to get the taste buds going. We then ordered a whole bunch of items that we had never tried before and were not disappointed.
Being a brand new restaurant, the owner, Pasan, made sure we were well looked after and took onboard some of our suggestions. Apparently, the interior decor for eg. the chandelier, murals, wallpaper, etc.has been all sourced from Sri Lanka itself.
Definitely a must visit when in Nottingham!

We first came across Colombo Street at Kedleston Hall whilst visiting a food fair a couple of years ago. I remember being blown away by how good the food was and how lovely and smiley the two guys were that served us. Fast forward two years and they now have a lovely new restaurant near the Lace Market in Nottingham which is most definitely worth a visit.
The curries my husband and I had were both delicious!!
Full of flavour, and best of all, accompanied with delicious sides of coconut, dahl and coriander relish which brought the flavours alive. Every mouthful was like a little explosion of three or four different flavours. So much more interesting than the traditional Indian curries that we're all used to now. The rotis were fab too.
I wish these guys every success. They've chosen to open a restaurant during difficult times and I really hope it pays off for them. We shall be making the trip from Ashbourne to Nottingham as frequently as possible and hoping that one day soon they have a second branch in Derby!!
Good luck guys. x
R. J.
An authentic taste of Srilanka and excellent service. They could do with offering different spice levels for the adventurous 😜. Overall. I hope this place will do well. It’s the only Sri Lankan restaurant in Nottingham and Derby area.
A. A.
Absolutely delicious food. Every single dish tasted fresh, different and delightful. The restaurant has a cool comfy trendy feel. Relaxing ambience and spacious. The staff were helpful professional and attentive with good knowledge of the menu. The manager is a really enthusiastic person who is obviously very proud of the place and it shows in his welcoming manner. Generous portions and excellent value for money. Definitely a good choice for couples family friends and work nights.
P. D.
Friendly attentive staff and authentic Sri Lankan food make this place a worthy visit if you're in the area. Reasonably priced and very good lunch deals also available. Give it a go, I did and was delighted I did. :-)
K. C.
We were excited to eat here and enjoy Indian, Gurkha and South Indian food.
We had a nice welcome and the waitress was very helpful in helping us choose. The decor is fun and although it's large it's nicely laid out. I started with the samosa which was beautifully presented and delicious. My husband and I had the Coco chicken curry. Unfortunately we both agreed that it was quite bland and the quality of the chicken was poor. Our friends had the Jackfruit and Fish curries respectively. We all felt really that the food was not for us although we could not fault the service.
D. B.
Colombo Street served up the best Sri Lankan food I have had the joy of experiencing in the UK! I highly recommend visiting their beautiful restaurant decked out in Sri Lankan pop art in Nottingham! Everything I ordered was truly authentic and all the flavours were on point! We ordered the chickpea sizzle, jackfruit cutlets, Colombo fried cauliflower for starters and it had a fantastic balance of delicious flavours and spice. I also had the jackfruit rice and curry platter for my main and the many curries that came with it such as the dhal, sweet and tangy aubergine and coconut sambol were fresh and complimented each other. Their kottu is also fantastic and I highly recommend it.The deserts were divine and we got one each of the wattalapam, bibbikan and the chocolate biscuit pudding which simply melted in your mouth. Very friendly service as well and great choice for vegetarians and vegans with a great central location! Overall great food, great vibes and I’ll definitely keep going back to get my fix of Sri Lankan food.
I. H.
Couldn't praise the experience enough! We had to have the meals and some of the foods explained to us, but the staff were very obliging. The food was absolutely superb and the staff were very friendly, polite and efficient. Great atmosphere also. We will definitely be visiting again soon.
Y. m.
We found this place on Google so thought we'd give it a try, booked a 9pm table after having pre drinks. Our drinks order was very slow so had to get the attention of the staff.
I had the mutton curry which I found was lacking depth of flavour.
My wife had the prawn curry, we ended up sharing it as it was really good.
K. H.
What a fabulous place!!! Food is absolutely amazing! Really authentic... Good selection of wine... and very attentive staff...
Would definitely recommend to anyone! Just go and enjoy the food!
L. B.
This was my first experience of Sri Lankan food and I was really impressed! The curry was very flavoursome and the side of sambal and chutney really added to the meal.
I had a vegan jackfruit curry with a "hopper", a light rice pancake. I'd recommend trying one, although it's a lighter carb than a rice or roti, so depending on how hungry you are it may be worth getting something else as well.
The staff were very friendly too so overall a lovely experience.
R. F.
Having not tried Sri Lankan food before I can't vouch for the authenticity of the fayre at Colombo Street, but I can say what we had was absolutely delicious.
We visited for lunch on a Saturday, sharing a starter of butter cauliflower and having a hopper feast each (one chicken and coconut, the other pumpkin). The cauliflower was great, crunchy and with a delicious kick of heat. My chicken hopper feast was equally good. Three light, crisply breads accompanied by various ramekins containing the curry, a couple of daals and another dish the name of which escapes me.
Good service, nice interior, reasonably priced. Nothing not to like really.
B. D.
Starter are amazing specially squid and mutton rolls definitely coming back for that again. Main dish with mutton curry was under season unfortunately. Staff very helpful and polite. Will recommend for drinks and starters 👌 🙂
S. W.
Visited for lunch with a young family. Wasn't busy at the time but we booked ahead using the handy on-line system. Hadn't eaten Sri Lankan and recognised nothing on the menu, but the waitress was very helpful and guided us. I have to say, this is probably one of the best, if not the best dining experiences we have had. The food was just so tasty and so different from anything we have had before. Service time, with a young family is very important and we were not disappointed by this either. Fresh, tasty, attentive and timely, and the bill was also very reasonable. What's not to love? Thanks Team Colombo Street!!!
A. E.
Lovely Sri Lankan style dishes, friendly staff and the food was delicious.
W. B.
Really nice authentic Sri Lankan food and lovely staff. Came to around £38 for full meal and dessert without drinks for two people.
I felt the atmosphere was lacking in terms of a street food restaurant environment but great food made up for this.
T. C.
What an interesting find. Has fun Sri Lankan specialities which have a ton of flavour.
Also went there for brunch menu which was really nice.
J. L.
Really enjoy this restaurant. The food is truly amazing and they cater to all dietary needs, my hubby needs a gluten free diet and he can have 99% of the menu amazing all round and the staff are lovely too. Highly recommended
S. S.
Brilliant food and service. I have been here several times and have taken friends and family who have all been impressed. Being a Sri Lankan myself I feel nostalgic every time I dine here because the flavours truly remind me of home. This is a addition to the multicultural flavours Nottingham has to offer!
L. S.
Good customer service and pretty tasty food. Only bugbear is the price / misleading/ confusion. £16 for essentially 3 chicken thighs and rice is a lot of money! Cocktails advertised online at 6.95 and one a media screen in the restaurant it said 2-4-1 (no time limit) but they clearly changed their mind on both these things and the cocktails now 9.95 and 2-4-1 between 12-5pm.
It’s unfortunate as they could attract a lot more customers as the food did taste great but I don’t think I will rush back especially as there isn’t really a USP and it feels pricey for Nottingham!
N. K.
I've been here twice (weekday and weekend), and the food is generously portioned and amazing, which is why it gets 4 stars despite the issues below. The manager/owner stopped by all the tables on my second visit, which is nice.
The bad:
The espresso martini was the worst I've ever had. I couldn't drink it.
The service is very odd. It seems like the majority of staff are inexperienced? Generally quite slow, and don't seem confident; we had to remind them about forgotten drinks, and ask for the bill three times on my second visit.
Can be quite noisy, which isn't really their fault, but might benefit from some acoustic panelling or similar as sound bounces throughout, making it hard to have a conversation.
Tried to order on Deliveroo, but order was not confirmed so I cancelled it after a 40 min wait!
r. P.
My friend and I had our first meal here last night, it was lovely food packed full of flavour, the staff are very friendly and helpful, I will definitely be returning to try more dishes.
J. A.
This lovely Sri Lakan restaurant was amazing. The food servings were generous, including the starters 😁 and the meals were very tasty. The staff were very nice, courteous and helpful.
Wait time between starters and main course took a little longer than expected, but I guess the wait was worth it.
C. R.
Food and service were fabulous, will definitely be going back. It was the first visit for all 4 of us and we all enjoyed it.
M. v. Z.
Delicious and authentic food, reminded me a lot of my travels to Sri Lanka 😊. Service was also amazing, very friendly and quick. Thank you for a great experience. We will definitely be back!
V. H.
Great restaurant, right in the city centre. Large and spacious, clean and tidy! The food is top notch. Such amazing flavours! My partner and I were already fans of Columbo from visiting their food van on many occasions! We love kottu! - the jackfruit croquettes were a delicious delight too! Highly recommend. I would say treat it like a tapas, get multiple dishes to share!
D. P.
Loved the Sri Lankan food. Went on Easter Monday and was quiet over lunch time. Very nice decor and feel to go with the food and drink. Would definitely recommend if like me you are not an experienced diner of Sri Lankan food. Very friendly staff too.
R. W.
Amazing food from this hidden away little Gem. Great Service from Lorna, who even let us in early as they were closing early for their Christmas Party. Hot Buttered Cauliflower & Sweet n Sour Tuna, highly Recommended !!!
H. K.
We went on a weekday. The food was delicious, portion sizes were good and the manager came to check on us if we were enjoying our meal. I would definitely recommend this place if you like street food :)
C. N.
Truly amazed by the authentic food and the exceptional hospitality of this restaurant. They serve the best hoppers I’ve ever had. Their Seeni Sambol was unbelievably delicious and coconut sambol was mouthwatering. I ordered their fish kottu and believe me it was top notch. Loved their classic Watalappan served with Kitul treacle. Felt like we were in Sri Lanka for a moment with the traditional decorations and the exceptional hospitality of the staff. Will visit again very soon.
A. K.
Organised a dinner with a larger group. Staff were really accommodating and we were able to easily book a table on Sunday evening in advance (was quite quiet to note).
Service was friendly and food was quite tasty. Would note it was all quite pricy though. Was nice to try out though!

Very good value, tasty and lovely staff
M. R.
Came here because the place up the road was busy Glad we did as the food was beautiful. We're vegetarian and rarely find food of this quality. Only complaint, there wasn't enough of it. Definitely recommend.
S.
A little bland. Not what i was expecting at all. Sambal was really good , dahl poor. Mutton good, sauce ok, no heat at all. The pieces of poppadom a waste of time supplying as too small and bendy! Lorna is good fun though and willing to listen.
4.
The manager was very knowledgeable. The prices were quite a bit, smaller portions but the food was so good. Reminded me of home. Great decor. The drinks were good. Would visit again.
S. H.
Delicious food, nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
A. H.
Had to bottomless brunch and was not disappointed, food was lovely and service was very attentive. Cocktails were nice. Will definitely come again :-)
A. B.
Food pretty good but service is chaotic, three different people asked us if we’d ordered (we had), then a fourth came over and said “are you just having drinks, your order isn’t on the system?”. Eventually got our food 1 hour 10 minutes after ordering.
A. P.
Attended yesterday, very lovely server, we got drinks and food very quickly. Food was delicious, can't wait to go attend and explore the menu some more!
s. j.
Fabulous restaurant the food was so tasty had so much flavour, we booked as a last minute evening out and so glad we chose this restaurant, great service, delicious food and very good value for money, highly recommend this Sri Lankan restaurant.
J. M.
Takeaway tonight from Columbo Street Nottingham. Wrong food delivered, however problem was rectified rapidly and communication was great. Food as usual was excellent!
A. F.
Great food at a reasonable price. Coffee was disappointing but I guess that's not their area of expertise. Good experience overall.
L. G.
Food here is so tasty. Full of flavour in every mouthful. Service was really great too.
M. L.
Amazing! I went with a few friends for lunch and we ordered several dishes to share because none of us had tried Sri Lankan food. The portions were a little small to share well between us (between six, we ordered one hopper feast with mutton curry, one rice with chicken and a separate fish curry and fried rice, along with calamari to start) but everything was absolutely delicious. The aubergine moju was particularly good. Had we been going for dinner, I think one of the feast mains each would have been plenty of food. For the quality of the food, the price is reasonable - and the staff are attentive and friendly too.
P. K.
Absolutely amazing food and excellent service! We enjoyed everything about this place, and I can't say enough good things about it. Chicken wings to start - delicious - and then Hopper feast and string hopper meals with chicken and prawn curries. The desserts were yummy too! Really lovely wait staff, couldn't be more helpful.
A.
We came here on a whim on a Friday and were welcomed even though we didn't have a booking.
The staff were attentive & knowledgeable - given we had no experience with Sri Lankan cuisine they took their time to explain our platters. Fantastic experience & the flavours were amazing. We shall definitely be coming back!
A. L.
Absolutely delicious! The vegan option was incredible! And all the personal was kind and amazing. We will definitely come back soon!

As a Sri Lankan born British I've seen many scams & restaurant's who claims the name of Sri Lankan food..!! Colombo Street is a place for me to be proud , genuine SL food and absolutely sensational ..!! Well-done guys..!!
T. C.
I have been working in Nottingham and this place was close to my work and aroma’s from the cooking caught my attention
On my first visit I had never had Sri Lankan food before so my expectations were limited at best.
I was pleasantly surprised by what I received, the best way I can describe it is food somewhere between Indian and Thai, however it is still very distinctive in its own right. This is currently my third visit as I explore the menus.
Up to the point of my last visit there is a different menu for the day to the evening, the day menu was smaller portions, I was informed that this is based on a Tapas style menu which is great for sampling many items in a single visit. The evening menu is a lot more traditional in terms of portions.
The portions were generous and the food was amazing, perfectly balanced and beautifully cooked, I will be back with the family for a visit
B. F.
This has very quickly become mine and my partners favourite place to eat, we have been twice in the space of a week and both times were blown away by how good the food was, I even took my leftovers home with me to finish them as I didn’t want to stop eating!
The staff are amazing too, the owner had recognised us from coming in the first time and came over and greeted us and thanked us for coming back again
We will 100% be returning here again and will be recommending it to anyone who asks where is good in Nottingham to eat as I would struggle to recommend anywhere else after eating here, truly earned 5 stars and more
M.
Amazing food and very friendly stuff and owners. You can see how much effort the team has put into making this restaurant a success. Everything from decor to ofcourse the most delicious food was amazing. Definitely will be one of favourite places to eat put in Nottingham.
S. W.
Delicious, good value food and really friendly service.
Service was a little slow on the Wednesday night we visited, but they gave us a dish on the house without us even asking or complaining which was a really nice touch!
Would definitely go again and fingers crossed the food comes out a little quicker
J. P.
Great place. Had originally tried the food from the owner's street food stall a few years ago so was delighted to find out that he has now started a restaurant. Lots of passion and thought in the dishes with talented chefs who are great at tailoring dishes to match your spice preferences. Would definitely recommend coming here whether it's for a quick bite at lunch time or a proper sit down evening meal. Favourite dishes for me are the kottu, hot butter cuttlefish and aubergine moju.
D. A.
Food tasted average nothing exceptional but is was very expensive compared to the potion size.
V. D.
We went for a dinner for my husband's birthday celebration and wow what a treat ..!!! All those dishes were the most heavenly dishes i have ever tried in uk. We ordered fried chicken wings , hot batter calamari and Lentil wadey as starters and each dish had their own lusciousness. For our main we had hopper feast with southern fish curry and i cannot recommend enough, they were absolutely divine , hoppers were warm , soft in the middle and crunchy outside and it went really well with tangy coconut sambol. My husband ordered Galle face roti and mutton curry while my daughter had yellow rice and prawn curry and i must say everything was delicious and so addictive.
We loved the hospitality and the excellent customer service we received, staff were friendly and welcoming . It was such a pleasant experience and looking forward to visiting again.
J. K.
Currently on holiday in the UK and wanted some home food and found the perfect place! Had the calamari for starters, hoppers for my main and the watalappan for dessert... What a delight! So happy I found Colombo Street! Beautiful restaurant and excellent service and above all delicious food!
L. S.
Nice decor, friendly staff and great food with a nice selection. Also serve all halal food except one item on the menu! Great choice of foods for everyone 😋 even my 9 year old son thoroughly enjoyed his meal. Thank you!
V. F.
Amazing food, the staff were exceptional and went above and beyond to explain the menu and answer any questions we had about Sri Lankan food. Would definitely recommend the Kuttu - will definitely be returning soon!
S. V.
Absolutely amazing food! My friends and I really enjoyed our dining experience which was made better by the friendly service and personable style of the owner of the restaurant.
I never thought I would rave about aubergine or jackfruit before but the aubergine moju and jackfruit cutlet are works of art - So addictive and delicious. I also enjoyed the hoppers and curries which were rich in flavor and the right balance of spice. The chocolate biscuit pudding was a great end to the meal and very comforting.
We will definitely be coming back for more!
r. h.
Absolutely delicious, friendly staff and nice cocktails. The brunch menu is great value.
J. W.
Very good food! Tasty and filling. Excellent cocktails and a nice team.
K. S.
Great quality food for a good price - and you won't leave hungry with these portions! The modern take on Sri Lankan interior is a nice bonus. We've had a lovely time there and will be coming back soon!
N. A.
Located very centrally, with a great ambience as their beautiful decor pays homage to Sri Lanka with a modern twist. This goes hand in hand with a great selection of authentic and popular Sri Lankan dishes offered on their menu. The dishes we ordered were flavourful and reminded me of authentic home cooking especially the Gothamba Roti and the Hopper Feast platter that was cooked to crispy perfection. The wattalapam was also incredible and perhaps the best I have had so far. I highly recommend visiting Colombo Street for a great authentic food experience!
B. W.
A great experience with incredibly friendly staff! Highly recommend cauliflower & samosa for vegan customers - would come come back!!
U. S.
Brought us back to Sri Lanka! Super authentic tastes in everything on our plate. The sambal, the aubergine, the curries were absolutely amazing. Very different to indian and thai cuisine and Colombo Street had all the flavours right. Can't wait to go back!!
H. S.
A great evening out in Nottingham! We ordered various dishes from the Ceylon Dining Menu and each dish looked amazing! As I like my food spicy, I requested for some additional spice in my kottu and it was perfect! For those that like milder food, this was catered for our party too.
The cutlets and hoppers were just as tasty and was not disappointed!
The surprise was that they had srilankan liquor which only added to the experience! I recommend ordering the Arrack!
The decor and service was great and will definitely be returning to Colombo Street when I visit Nottingham!
P. D.
The best restaurant I've been to for years!
The service was excellent
The food was great portions and so full of flavour. It all tasted fresh and it wasn't greasy.
Loved everything we had and the desserts were absolutely beautiful!
Will be recommending to as many people as I can!
a. w.
Typical sri lankan food at fair price. Staff are very friendly and provide good service. Modern interior decorations with high standards. All foods are cooked fresh, nice taste.. will visit again soon.
S. H.
Absolutely incredible meal!
Even though we decided to sit outside, from the moment we arrived the staff and owner were so friendly and attentive but not in an intrusive way. Service was well paced even though they were getting busy.
The food was just beautiful, it tasted so amazing and fresh! We had the vegan Kottu and vegan Hopper Feast and a few extra sides just because. We were absolutely stuffed but couldn't stop eating, it tasted so lovely! The Dahl and the coconut gravy literally stunned us into silence. The best Dahl I've ever had (and I eat a lot of it!) and my first time having coconut gravy but certainly not my last.
We did have a starter which we won't bother with again - it was also delicious but too small for the price. However the mains blew us away so we still left more than happy!
We decided to finish off with a bibikkan and it was the perfect way to end the meal.
100% recommend and well done to all those involved in the restaurant both front of house and kitchen. We will be back!!!
D. W.
Absolutely fantastic.
Choices to die for, and wait staff who are happy to explain anything and everything about the food on offer, catering to any level of spice you could want.
All that, and very reasonable prices!

Top class Sri Lankan food and I could say without a doubt that this is the best Sri Lankan restaurant in the UK. Amazing and friendly service by the staff and I love their kottu and its the best I have ever had. I have tried several other dishes of the menu and I’d rate all of them 10/10. Cant wait to have branches of this restaurant all over the UK.

I spent 3 months in Sri Lanka just after the tsunami. A local post office owner from Carlton had raised enough money to build 3 houses for families who lost their houses in the tsunami. It was called Little Nottingham. I handed over the keys . So it is so wonderful to have a Sri Lankan restaurant in Nottingham. Sri Lankan food is some of the best I have experienced. This helped me relive that, lovely place, great food, wonderful flavours and very friendly staff and management.

Clean, tasty food and customized for British clientele.
Desserts are yummy and must try.
Would be a little bit disappointed if you are looking for authentic Srilankan.

Lovely Sri Lankan decor, good food, slightly overpriced for the portions given. We went for lunch where the menu is limited, unlike dinner.

Hands down the best Asians food that’s entered my system in the UK. Coming from India I know my flavours and tastes, and believe you me, this isn’t less than any A-game restaurant even from India! Absolutely in love🤍
