R. S.Expect to be blown away be the food. Simply put, one of the best pubs for food in Nottingham city centre. We had a bass dish and pork dish for the mains, with a strawberry cheesecake for dessert. Oh my word. My partner could not stop rapsodising over each mouthful, and by the end we just wanted more.
The service is great, the beer was refreshing, and the atmosphere relaxed. Overall I recommend Fothergills as one of the places to eat in Nottingham.
A. B.Staff are lovely, beautiful setting, lovely to watch the world go by. Would have been 5 stars for the staff alone, however, ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio (£21) and It was not to my taste so ordered a gin and tonic which was over £10! I don’t mind paying but neither drink was worth the price

Some cheap lettuce thrown in with meat and bread and that was it, ingredients were missing. After suggesting to the so-called manager that their kitchen should make a bit more of an effort, got a bit of a, hmm, unconvincing and disingenuine response, asking why I had not said before (essentially expressively saying "I can't be bothered what you're saying) - which is the main reason for this review

o.We went at 3pm for a late lunch, and ordered in 15min but waited 1h to get the order and did not receive one of the dishes but they prepared the missing dish straight away and offered all the drinks. The young male waiter was very nice and friendly and tried to sort the delay the best way possible.
The food was ok, average: we have ordered steak, bread with pork, chips and few drinks.

A. P.This is a great setting with many options for alfresco dining, indoor dining or something in between with the folding doors. Great for our climate. They are always welcoming to us and our little dog. The staff are actually great and the menu has everything we need, presented to a consistent high quality.
K. D.Food is OK. They need to figure out how to coordinate app orders for the same table though. We all ordered separately so we didn't have to faff about splitting the bill. Some of us ordered starters as mains because they are big portions but when we asked the waitress if we could get them at the same time as the other main courses she said No. No checking with the chef etc. Just a straight no. Not great customer service. Also, be mindful that if you sit outside you're basically on a steep hill so your table & chairs will be sloping. Not the most comfortably seated meal.
P. B.Excellent pub/restaurant across the road from Nottingham Castle. Menu is British pub grub carefully prepared and presented by a kitchen team that clearly knows what it is doing. Lamb shank was generous and tasty accompanied by simply cooked fresh veg which spoke for themselves. Buttery mash was sublime. Good range of draft beers, craft gins and an impressively long premium rum menu. Service was efficient and friendly. Great choice for everything from a quick lunch to a more leisurely evening meal.

There are not many place you can go where they look after you so well. There is a good selection of beers that cater for pritty much every taste.
M. M.Very tasty, everything. Fish and chips for kids are amazing, lamb, pork, anything you order, is the best quality. Still haven't tried dessert, just cannot get there with any available space in my stomach. From all main dishes, only hamburger was little be dry and too well done, but for most britans, this is how you suppose to have a hamburger (that apparently isn't). All others are just perfect, including sides. And by the way, the best chips are in kid menu fish and chips. Very enjoyed to be there twice since it reopened. Outside can be quite cold, there are no heaters. I think that Fothergills may keep the external sittings even when the indoor will be available again. The app for ordering dishes is ok, sometimes the login and ordering again process can be a hussle, dishes adds to the order just by clicking on them, so it is really easy to order some 5 beers by mistake. Anyway, the only things that I think might be improved, are external heating and the app. The place itself, I think is the best restaurant in Nottingham.

A. D.I enjoyed Sunday lunch yesterday but didn't like being shoved upstairs. The room has no atmosphere at all. Also the beef dinners were not very good. I've had better meals in the past. It was also quite cold and the music was too loud. It should be background noise not in your face.
V. M.Good restaurant next to the Nottingham Castle which has good outdoor sitting space with good views. Due to covid they currently offer online ordering only. We got a risotto and some of the olives with bread for £19, so it is a bit more pricey compared to other places in Nottingham. Overall good place for a short break during your visit to the castle.
N. M.Great service and great food here. We didn't book on what appeared to be the tail end of a busy Sunday shift. We had to wait around 10 minutes, however this was not a problem as we could have a drink at the bar. Very nice atmosphere and attentive service made this a memorable place to have lunch.

But, ‘Is there sugar on the vegetables?’ I asked the waitress. ‘There shouldn’t be!’ she looked at me horrified and as if I were stupid to suggest it. Five minutes later she was back, sheepishly, having asked the chef. There was honey on the vegetables. I didn’t make them change my plate, unfortunately, thought I’d be up for the adventure if the chef had done it on purpose. But I soon felt sick. It was like eating a plate of dessert. I guess some customers need sugar on vegetables, like kids. And I know some restaurants load sugar and salt into their cooking to beguile folks. Not me. Crass. Then I noticed that my pork belly was actually quite a tiny square. And I only had one roast potato. The amount of savoury on the plate was overwhelmed by the honey. We left without eating dessert, didn’t need it. Nor did I appreciate the waitress’ sneer at my questioning her about the food. Having contempt for your customer’s palate is not a good thing. The house red wine, a Spanish red, was bright and breezy for four quid a glass. If we ever go back, we’ll ask them not to sugar the vegetables. I’d recommend you do the same, unless you’re a fan of Frosties and stuff like that. And if your waiter or waitress doesn’t serve you with respect, don’t tip them.
C. P.We went for a birthday meal with 3 generations of family( no children) and the food was excellent. I am coeliac and I was well catered for, staff understood my needs. The atmosphere was released and friendly and we had a lovely evening.
E. Y.Fantastic food and atmosphere. Wheelchair access is awkward as invariably have to move two outside diners for the only level transit onto site. "Accessible bathroom" is in a very tight corner and door arrangement means it almost impossible for a wheelchair user to get in and out without help.
