I recently went back to "French Living" for the first time in a year or so. The food is still as amazing as ever, the Chef and staff are kind and skilfull. The various appetizers and entrees served as a reminder of the wonderful food the French kitchen can produce, our main courses were perfect as always, and the Creme Brulee is among the best, possibly the very best I have tried. We will be back later this year, and are already looking forward to seeing what the Chef will have for us.

Enjoyed the ambiance but slightly disappointed by my French Living burger. Poor fries, capers and pickle lacking acidity and glass of wine was expensive and small. I'll stick with fab baguette and nice coffee next time.

Delicious, authentic, and none of the 'pomp' that so frequently occupies "French" restaurants in the UK. Either of the set menus offer excellent value plus you're able to actually buy a fair amount of the produce from the actual venue.

My first ever experience eating escargot. Tasted very nice, but this could potentially be because they were coated in a litre of garlic butter, which I'm addicted to. All in all, very nice place, and extremely attentive staff.

Has always been an amazing restaurant with great food and staff. But today I visited alone with just my 8 month old baby and I was made so to feel so welcome and comfortable. Superb French food in a family run restaurant in the centre of an area swamped by chains. Homemade tart, terrine and Chicken in tarragon sauce. Try it if you haven't already, you won't be disappointed. Lovely staff.

My partner and I came here for our anniversary dinner and loved it! The ambiance felt cozy and intimate, with French music playing in the background. We thoroughly enjoyed sampling many tapas from the menu including escargot, prawns, lamb sausage, gratin potatoes, etc. The service was great and the food arrived quickly. We highly recommend the scallops and the rib-eye steak. Our night ended with a delicious coffee and creme brûlée, which was stunning. We hope to return soon.

Came here on a whim after looking for French dishes with my partner and our daughter and were amazed at how great the food was, the steak was cooked to perfection, my partner’s venison was to die for (the red wine and blueberry sauce was top notch) and my daughter’s omelette was so nice me and partner couldn’t stop ourselves from trying it! The orange and chocolate dessert was soft and flavourful and the espresso with 4 mini desserts was the perfect way to end a meal. The waitresses were friendly and not too intrusive, even taking time to play peekaboo with my little one 🙂 I’d highly recommend this to anyone looking to get a little taste of France, hope to visit again soon.

Typical French dishes in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The food is well cooked and definitely worth a try. We order the beef rib, rare, and it was genuinely one of the best I've ever tried in England. The beer from Corsica was rich in flavor and a touch that was really appreciated. Finally, it's a detail, but the baguette was absolutely excellent. Not the cheapest option in Nottingham, but definitely one worth trying.

5 stars for the restaurant and the staff, but have to take one star back because I deliver there and the spiral staircase and the narrow doorways make it hard for an old boy like me to take heavy trays of fresh meat down to the kitchen! I've eaten in a lot of nice restaurants from hestons dinner In london to sat bains on the outskirts of this fine city and I would put this establishment up there with these heavy hitters. The food is plentiful without being excessive, the options as well, enough to give choice without being overwhelming. The owner is warm and a fantastic human. He makes you feel like an old friend that he hasn't seen in a while and everyone is wonderfully attentive without asking you obnoxiously how your food is as you take a bite. My escargot were full of flavour and tender and the onglet was perfectly cooked with a sauce that did not overpower it. I can honestly say that if you're looking for a fantastic meal in Nottingham without the airs and graces I would recommend here for a nice dinner or a wonderful bottle of wine and a cheese board.

Had the dinner menu for 22 £ and all the flavour really brought back some memories from home. The "onglet" piece of beef was cooked to perfection and the game was very well seasoned.

Been here a few times and it’s one of my favourite places to eat. Authentic fresh French food, they seem to be able to make even straight forward dishes burst with flavour. Nice atmosphere and a friendly service. Go before 7 and there is an incredibly well priced Pre theatre menu. There’s a lot of competition locally but I can’t see myself going anywhere else.

a cautious 4 stars. the food was delicious and and generous. staff were friendly, and it feels like a genuine piece of France in Middle England. the caution comes from previous visits a few years ago. the qualify of food and service does seem to rise and fall periodically. But the going is good now, so get your butts over there food for tasty and hearty French food.

I liked the food it was very yummy, not quite sure about the authenticity of it but everything served was beyond yummy. However i had ordered a side serving of chips and it went to the wrong table (which is fair enough, mistakes happen) but when the waiter realised he took the chips from the wrong table to ours, at which point they were semi-eaten by the first table. That's the only fault I had with the place, also it would be nice to have a specials board because I couldn't remember all the specials the lovely waitress who took my order told me.

Went for a birthday treat with my wife and we were both very pleased with our meals and the service. I used to eat here fairly often and ama great fan of their Cassoulet, I tried the Venison this time and it was a worthy choice.

As a person who has eaten at this restaurant, I would thoroughly recommend it, and have to most people I've spoken to since I visited. Small independent restaurant businesses are few and far between in Nottingham and it's food, service and value were the best I've experienced in quite a while. Mussels and scallops were delicious and the wine recommended was the perfect accompaniment. Already planning our return! On a side note I'm saddened those who haven't eaten here are leaving 1 star reviews. This is absolutely not what a reviewing system is for. Comments should be by customers not campaigners.

Birthday party with family, and all went superb, food quite delicious, all guests very happy indeed, Cote de Boeuf for two carved at the table excellent, Magret de Canard perfect, Filet de Loup and the vegetarian options also excellent, desserts like Creme Brûlée, Tarte Citron and Delice Chocolat come highly recommended from my guests. The house wine is very reasonably priced, so no complaints there either. The staff are very friendly and most helpful, have been there before, and never had a bad meal, so cannot wait to go back again. What a wonderful find in Nottingham! Off a side street just down from the theatre and up from market square I had a wonderful meal here pre theatre. They worked so hard to help us get to the show in good time despite several members of our group being late. I had the yummiest omelette here, authentically French and accompanied with home made chips and salad to die for. My late mum would've loved this place. Any francophile must visit. The owners are French and have a seasonal and reasonably priced menu that means everything is not only freshly cooked but you could be in France eating it. Do try it! But book ahead as it gets busy. Access wise, anyone with a wheelchair make sure you tell them as there is an inaccessible downstairs with a spiral stair case to put the chills to any able bodied person and the main restaurant level has step access, it's one step but you'd not easily manage it with a wheelchair though help and friendly hands were on hand if you don't mind having to be lifted etc but the toilets are also downstairs so do ring and check if at all concerned about managing it.

Have supported French Living almost as long as they have been going in Nottingham. You really will not experience anything more French outside of France. There's no Anglicising of the food as you get in other restaurants, even the bread is genuinely French. All these small touches along with staff that speak French all make the atmosphere a great place to be. The food is always presented nicely and tastes great. With a choice of 2 set menus offering great value for money as well as a la carte. My favourite restaurant in Nottingham!
