Reviews of George's Great British Kitchen
V.
I've been wanting to come here for years, and while it was nice was somewhat quite disappointed. The scotch egg starter wasn't anywhere near what I expected (deep fried slice of battered pork topped with a fried egg) the waffle's and chicken a tad dry (waffle's seemed like the £1 shop brought premade ones) had about a teaspoon of coleslaw on the plate. The cocktails tho very nice are very expensive (£7-£10 each) I had the British trifle cocktail although was absolutely gorgeous was quite small for £9.50. was Very busy and was quite long waits for things but to be expected for valentine's Day.
The staff absolutely lovely, couldn't be more polite or accomodating enough. HUSBAND had the stacked fish burger was absolutely massive and very good value for money he said was very nice (you're looking at About £5 for a pint of draught lager)
Overall glad a came but not sure I would return.

Amazing food. Just order Fish and chip should be fine. Definitely will come again.

This was my first visit to George’s for my birthday. The food was delicious, three of my family are vegetarian and there was a very good selection of meals to choose from. The drinks were very nice and the service excellent. The lovely waitress brought me a surprise dessert for my birthday which was thoughtful. It tasted as good as it looked! Thanks George’s for making my birthday celebration so enjoyable.

Nice fish and chips. Only reason for 4 stars is they weren’t chippy chips… Nice friendly staff.
P. S.
After googling 'best scampi in Nottingham' this place came out tops so I thought I'd give it a try for a business meal, it was well worth the visit as the prawn cocktail with advocado was absolutely delicious, the scampi basket was loaded and gourmet, my colleague had fish and chips, the fish was that huge she took a photo of it to share with friends, not to mention the very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended five star service and quality food, thank you

The good things:
Clean, nice atmosphere, waiter checked on us how we like the food, fast service. Student discount.
The fish and chips is a must try as it's one of the best in the city.
The things could have been better:
Please ask next time if we want the drink with ice. My cup was filled up with 🧊 from bottom to top and it was a bit uncomfortable.
The other thing was that while we still drank our after-food-tea the waiter suddenly appeared with the bills. Which again, could have been asked first. (Wasn't busy that time to have to rush us out)

Fantastic restaurant with a great atmosphere, the building interior is comfortable and had a really nice dated feel, which added to the positive experience. The food was perfect, tasty and served within a timely manner; the staff were friendly and polite. Great place to take the family 😊😋

Absolutely fantastic food, great venue, and staff are very helpful and accommodating! Menu is one of the most accessible I've seen and the quality is fantastic. Great value for money. The service wasn't too quick and was a nice relaxed pace giving us time to decide what we wanted, and the server very quickly spotted an error in our order and promptly corrected it. Well worth a visit and I will be back!!

Been meaning to visit this restaurant since it opened, and tonight didn't disappoint!
If advise to book as was heaving as awhile and I can testify it's definitely down to the friendly staff, atmosphere and incredibly well prepared food.
Only bad point I noticed and experienced was an ill placed bar that bottle necked the kitchen/serving area when there was more than 6-8 waiting customers.
Price wise, spot on .. 3 drinks and 2 mains under £40
Edit 15/04/22
Popped in this evening, not been for a couple of years and will say the staff are still brilliant, very friendly and attentive without being pushy.
The food - the grilled fish with sauce was amazing and the API steak pies equally, only thing that let down was the sides ...
Chips looked and tasted like uncooked oven chips, hard and anaemic for both of us and my veg was raw hard undercooked green peas ..
And looking around we noticed others had left the chips also
Shame as last time the chips were proper chip shop 'slop' chips
2 mains and 2 cokes £41

I took my mum here a few weeks ago as a belated Mother’s Day present (she loves fish and chips). The cocktail selection is fantastic, so many to choose from and they tasted exactly as they was described. The food was brilliant and presented well. My mum had traditional fish and chips, she thoroughly enjoyed. I had the chicken and waffle, I thought it was amazing. Great flavours. They have a lunchtime menu, which I believe is on mon-fri 12pm-5pm and it’s £13.95 for two courses (the option I opted for). Definitely worth the money, portion sizes were larger than expected!
D. G.
Tasty food and great atmosphere. Great quality for the price as well. The staff was very polite and welcoming. 10/10 recommend!
Edit: Wanted to add a couple more photos from my latest visit.

Been here quite a few times, this time was probably the worst. Curry sauce was like water. Really didn't enjoy it.
L. D.
Came here for my post graduation lunch. The food was incredible, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Love this place. Deffo 5 stars and highly recommend.
R. K.
Went here for lunch for the first time. Staff were very friendly and helpful but the food was mediocre and a little overpriced. I had a chicken burger, which strangely, was cooked in batter - the taste was very ‘fishy’ so I can only assume it was fried using the same fryer used for the fish which, if true, is not appropriate. Will not be visiting again.
G. L.
We went for a late lunch. The food was very nice. The drinks were interesting. I was annoyed that I got the wrong tonic water, it said gin would come with fever tree but it came with cokes tonic water
T. S.
Really enjoyed our time here. Staff were perfect and the food was a high standard. People do go here for the fish and chips it seems but the whole menu is great.
I had a steak with was perfectly cooked and my deconstructed scotch egg to start was very tasty.
The quirky decor is a nice touch and you can even eat in a beach hut !!!
Cocktails were quirky and tasty. Great value too.
P. S.
Wow. We were on Nottingham for a weekend and we were looking for somewhere to eat. I was a little unsure of this place because it’s just fish and chips. I was so pleased we did go. Great food different takes on fish and chips. Staff (Mat) was great and very friendly. He asked about our weekend and as we were going to the Motorpoint arena he gave us 10% discount drinks choices a little unusual but very nice all in all very happy. Well done
C. P.
Amazing food and cocktails. Quirky with mock beach huts booths. Wish I could remember the name of our server, it was his first shift and was great thank you
M. C.
I had a lovely vegan curried cauli and chick pea pie with crispy chips. SO great food - lovely decor but I especially wanted to thank the lovely waiter (with the ponytail) who was attentive and kind.

Great staff. Very helpful and friendly. Food very average. Bread was stale. Chips were little better than oven chips on this visit (Sunday afternoon). They reduced the bill for us accordingly.
C. A.
Highly highly highly recommend!
The food is not your usual British cuisine as some of the dishes were very unique, for example the Jafrezi Pie (which I had, extremely nice, my only complaint being, it was on the small side) and the Cod Burger (which was actually a large cod fish finger in a hot dog bun with tartar sauce, also very nice!). The pricing is appropriate for the standard of food and service in my opinion.
Our waiter was a young gentleman named Andrew who was extremely nice and ensured we enjoyed our food and he kindly kept our jug of water filled at all times.
Brilliant meal, no complaints!
D. B.
Omg It was amazing. We had a £30 voucher as a Christmas present and just got round to spending it . The decor is quirky the music is just right and couldn't fault the service. Food was delicious. Didn't have to wait to long to be served. Was a tad on the expensive side had to put quite a bit to it but we went for IT and fully enjoyed what we had. If we were to go again we would probably just have a main course. My only complaint was that we were sat upstairs it wasn't overly busy up there but they seated another couple at the table right next to us(when there were lots of other available tables) and they were very loud and having inappropriate conversations. It just spoiled the mood a little. It's sometimes nice to have space especially when they are not overly busy. It didn't stop the meal from being lovely though.

This place is normally one of the restaurants we visit as a family when we come to Nottingham. The food is always excellent and the service is thoughtful and kind.
A wide choice of fish (and one steak) meals prepared in a traditional way or with a twist.
Personal favourite is the cod with bahji batter (swap the rice for chips!)
C. R.
Really liked this place! All very tasty, especially the second course, the staff is good, the atmosphere is cozy.
K. N.
Loved it.
Great menu choice, something for all tastes.
Service was a little slow, but they were full and food was worth waiting for.
Paprika batter cod was delicious.
j.
Absolutely fantastic. Fancied a selection of starters. Loved them all. The attention to detail and flavours were amazing. Reasonably priced too. The paprika cod was my favourite, the rest weren't far behind.
J. M.
Best restaurant I have been to in a long while. The burger I has was absolutely delicious and the chips were proper. Good drinks menu and cocktails and the service was really good. Best of all it was reasonably priced. Good atmosphere inside.
S. P.
Good British cuisine in the city centre of Nottingham. Great value lunch menu, 2 courses for only £10. Bangers and Mash starters were great, served hot and with sweet mustard jus. Classic main of Fish and Chips were good also. Nice selection of vinegars.
I would give 4 stars however there was a £1 tap water charity charge applied to my bill. Would of been nice if I was told by staff that this would be the case, then I could of made a more informed choice about my drink.
Overall good place for a value for menu lunch.

Update.March 19.
Just been back to George's and it was still as amazing as below.
I've been to George's twice, once downstairs by the window once upstairs in a booth.
Both times we received excellent service during our visit, first visit we didn't book and we're seated right away, very surprising for a Friday night, the recent visit we booked and it was full so glad we did.
The food is excellent, a bit different to typical menus with a focus on seafood but there are plenty of other choices too, chicken, ribs, burgers etc.
I have to recommend the calamari, my go to starter, it was perfectly cooked, well presented with a bit of spring onion to set it off, worked really well.
I had cod and chips and it was fantastic, easily the best I have had, we'll impressed.
Drinks wise I went with the cocktail offer which was 241 before 9pm. The cocktails are well put together and filled with booze so an excellent offering.
I can't recommend this place enough, can't wait to go again.
S. M.
A split between old classic chip shop meals and modern twists. My wife had a battered fish sub with spicy relish, would recommend. The decor is amazing, again a nice blend of old and new. Worth a visit
S. B.
Went for breakfast...a monster plate of everything with proper sausages rather than bulk buy fodder. ..we enjoyed it so much that we immediately booked a table for a fish and chip dinner that evening....
P. h.
First visit to this restaurant, was not disappointed, had fish, chips, mushy peas, come lovely and hot quick service, staff lovely, Notting to much trouble, will definitely go back. Thank for a lovely meal.
R. J.
For one of the best fish and chips restaurants in Nottingham, stop at George's in Nottingham. Excellent food and great service. Make sure you book ahead as they are busy moat nights of the week. They have a great menu with something for everyone and a good selection of wine and beer.
S. A.
Great service! Really tasty food, I can’t believe it took me this long to try this place
R. C.
Had a lovely evening here while visiting family. Lovely food & a friendly service. My only annoyance with Nottingham was the £30 fine for being inadvertently in a bus lane, not clearly signed & Road closures everywhere. A typical tourist trap money spinner, Nottingham Council should be totally ashamed.
L. S.
Amazing food, fantastic service and great beer! We had the Smoked Paprika battered Cod and the Original battered Cod and both were absolutely spot on - highly recommend a visit if you've not been already and definitely worth a return visit if you already have!
R. G. (.
The grilled fish is good. The fish and chips also good. Do reserve as this is a very popular restaurant. Or go really early for lunch.
B. S.
Really good British food and amazing service. Pay a visit if you're around Nottingham city centre! :)
S. M.
Good food..huge portions. If you order the Great British Fish Feast you need to be very hungry. Was a bit surprised by the deconstructed scotch egg starter
We had an issue with our drinks order that the Nottingham staff sorted out quickly. Very professional
I'd definitely go back..but would need to be on an empty stomach 😅
M. F.
The staff were friendly, but the food was disappointing, we had the chicken & mushroom pie with double cooked chips & this meal was not VFM, with the chips being more like poor chip shop chips. My wife had a pina colada which was half full of ice, a common trick we have unfortunately discovered previously when it has been done at other establishments.
S. D.
Fantastic experience, me and my mates (we are uni students) we came to georges just on a whim. Straight away as we arrived we were greeted by their friendly staff, we quickly sat down and once we ordered our drinks and food were with us in a flash. Beautiful crisp battered fish for me, the lads had battered sausage and sea bass. The best battered sausage they ever had. The sea bass looked so good i wished i copied my mate and ordered it myself. The cocktails we had hit the spot just right with the food. And the portion sizes i almost forgot to mention, huuuuge! Definately worth the wonga! We will deffo be coming back, with more friends joining us! The restaurant was a little chilly is my only critisism but hey its winter!
V. A.
The waiter was lovely and the restaurant looked great. Most of the food was lovely however the rib eye wasn't cooked well and looked grey, my husband had to return it
L. Y.
Amazing staff, super amazing food and drinks. Loved the style of the restaurant and even the menu amused my little, easily pleased brain !! Well worth a visit.
Reasonably priced too.
D. S.
We both had the cod in paprika batter. It was excellent. Very busy place. Seems to be popular for large groups.
M. F.
First & last time here. We had the chicken and mushroom pie with double cooked chips. The chips were like poor chip shop chips. The price charged was not VFM.
A. D. S.
Had a great time having birthday drinks here with my brother. Lovely atmosphere, amazing gin, and tasty bites. Highly recommend the scotch egg and everything off the gin cocktail menu is solid. (I'm sure the rest is as well, but we stuck with gin). Solid service to top off the visit!!
G. O.
Really beautiful place, the prices were fairly expensive but not too bad. As I went with my family we all had fish and chips which came out displayed lovely, and tasted absolutely amazing! As we had just come from an art exhibition where I displayed my work, the waitress we had gave us a really lovely display of churro style things as a congratulations! It was a thoroughly enjoyable meal
A. B.
A fantastic gem in Nottingham. Obviously have fish, but try something a bit different. I had the cod in paprika batter and it was superb. Very friendly service.
S. D.
Loved it. Very clean, fantastic food and super staff. Will be back.
C. F.
Went here for lunch with 2 adults and one child. Staff were very friendly and the food was fantastic, those chips were to die for!! We were served by a male called Matt who was brilliant and very helpful, a perfect example of great customer service.
Would definitely recommend. 👍👍👍
D. A.
Simply amazing, good value for money and beautiful food. Best scampi I've ever had by quite some margin. Decent portions without being excessive, quite happy to enjoy the dessert too. Will be back.
F. P. C.
Good food, great atmosphere, love it!
S. H.
Good food. Prices very good if ordered before 5pm.
M. B.
Food good portions are massive. Could easily of had kids meal for adult. Staff friendly
A. m.
WOW what an amazing place beautiful decor. They even has beach huts. Staff were amazing. Super friendly food was spot on i had a rare steak was spot on my children looked the candyfloss at the end. Would highly recommend 👌
C. J.
Superb food and excellent service. Will definitely be back when we are back in Nottingham.
D. F.
Friendly and polite staff. I ordered the fish feast which was £17 if I remember correctly. The fish, mushy peas and bread were good but I wasn't a huge fan of the chips. Would probably rate this 5/5 if the chips were more to my liking.
C. H.
The food here is absolutely amazing with great pricing. The cocktails are made right in front of you and taste amazing. The environment to eat in is pleasant and the low lighting means it feels cosy and relaxed. Seating is comfortable and access is only for the lower floor, meaning if you have problems with stairs you should request a ground floor table.
I cannot recommend this place enough. You have to try it.
T. J.
Highly recommend; the service was excellent, the food was delicious and overall it was good value for money. Potentially the best fish and chips I've ever had, the batter was light and fluffy and the chips were just as good as any chip shop chips.
E. N.
Love it sitting doors with my sister having a drink good food and a good laugh having our pictures taken.
a.
Had the highly recommend cod fish and chips. I wasn't disappointed. Thank You.
P. M.
Great service and perfectly cooked fish and chips. Definitely recommend this place.
C. W.
Great place to go for a meal the food was lovely tasted great the staff was very helpful and we didn't have to wait long for it
E. A.
Lovely food, good atmosphere and quick service
s. m.
Excellent atmosphere and food. English menu. Lots of fish and chips but with interesting twists
P. M.
I've been twice to George's Great British Kitchen and have thoroughly enjoyed both time. Staff were superb and the food was outstanding.
M. H. E.
Poor waitress had to handle the entire top floor by herself and we had to wait a lot to order, pay or get any service. The staff were very nice though. The food was great as well.
A. B.
I visited George's on the 22nd May 2021with my wife and granddaughter and her children. The restaurant was very busy and service was a little slow, but under the current circumstances, that was understandable. The staff were excellent, however. What was a disappointment was the quality of the fish and chips. It was very average and lacking very much flavour, and a little dry; certainly not warranting the £13.95 charged. Had it been of a high quality, I would not have had an issue, but, unfortunately, it was not. I would have given it 2 stars, but the staff, whilst under great pressure, were excellent, so the 3 stars reflects their efforts.
LATEST UPDATE
The company has responded to my comments and not ungenerously offered a £60 contribution towards a return meal for the three of us in the original party. Extensive staff training and reorganisation was already taking place, we were assured. This sounded quite positive.
C. F.
After doing a little shopping yesterday in town we decided to go for lunch ,this place is so lovely I am not the biggest fan on fish and chips unless its proper seaside chips (if you know you know) but let me just tell you that's exactly what this place does proper(seaside) fish 'n' chips the food was absolutely lovely 😍 a little over priced but worth every penny. The reason for 4* was the menu I'm not a big eater so a smaller option on the menu would have been great as they don't serve children's portions to adults other than that I will be going again we went back for a takeaway for my parents and they love it to big thank you to the staff who were also lovely 😁
R. C.
We had a family lunch with my boys and grandchildren. I had haddock and chips, it was absolutely lovely, the fish was beautiful and batter and chips delish! The service was great and friendly staff. The only small thing, if you are taking children with you the portion sizes from the children's menu are very generous, too much really, so not much of a complaint! Would defo go back.
S. H.
Nice food, bit busy but worth it!
A. F.
Great fish & chips, fast service and friendly staff
E.
Visited several times now. Food is always lovely and service is good too.

Handled our large group very nicely, great service, decent food, good atmosphere.
Z. A.
Good sitting and environment is awesome but food is not good not bad just below average.i think I wont be visiting this place again
D. “. R. G.
Some of the best fish and chips I've had in a long time, great atmosphere, great staff, a really nice menu a d a decent selection of drinks.
B. A.
The food is so good and the service exceptional. Would definitely recommend 😁
S. H.
Staff could not have been any more helpful and cheerful. Service was amazing.
Food options okay but not so many veggie options but the mushroom and chestnut pie was fab!
K. F.
That claim to be the best spot for fish and chips in the city - and I would agree. Prime location with excellent service and great menu should you be looking for something different than the famous British staple.
d. t.
We had 4 traditionl fish and chips fish very nice but smaller than last time, chips a little hard as if they had been over cooked mushy pease cold not good value at all, drinks over priced £10 pound for just over a pint of ginness very poor
D. V.
Fantastic place! Great service and the food and drinks were brilliant!
L. S.
Loved it here.
Great selection of classic British food with a twist. Could be considered pricey, but personally I think the food is well worth it, as it really is delicious.
The staff are brilliant too, very personable and seem to really enjoy what they're doing.
The music was a bit loud, is my only criticism.
S. B.
Chicken, waffles, bacon...bloomin georgeous. I'd never seen a pea fritter before, also delicious.
J. G.
Good cocktails, food was not worth the price
N. M.
Went with a friend for lunch. Best fish and chips in Nottingham. Lovely restaurant and staff very helpful. I had 2 courses cod pakoras in bhaji better and traditional fish and chips. My partner had squid and chicken on some waffles which sounds odd but he said it was the perfect blend of sweet with savory and a lovely change!
G. F.
Amazing fish and chips , best pudding I have ever had (Nutella chocolate doughnut with ice cream and candyfloss) absolutely amazing. 5/5
P. B.
Friendly service, food came quickly and was delicious.
S. G.
Food was great. Would have given 5 stars were it not for the fact that we had hardly laid down our forks or put our glasses down before the table was cleared around us.Even though some of our party were still eating.
A. C.
Absolutely beautiful food and fantastic service. Great cocktails too!
E. D.
Wonderful experience, as a waitress I know how the job has its ups and downs but I really enjoyed it! Matt and Chris were attentive and we were never rushed lively gentlemen! I would highly recommend! I have a massive sweet tooth and the desserts were amazing!
Lovely restaurant
i. m.
Used to love it here when they first opened but then felt like their prices increased and portions went down but I'm glad I went again as both price and portion are perfect again. Great taste and great produce.
Edit: went again just a week later and they had increased their prices again, from around £12.35 to around £15.95, can't remember the exact pennies in the increase. When I asked about it they said it was because of new management. Still great food but whole price system is a mess, hope they sort it out and price the fish and chips to a more realistic price.
D. I.
Food tasted great however in terms of value for money found portion size disappointing. Starters at almost six quid was three meatball sized fritters. For 11 quid I had chicken and waffles, it was on the menu as "Fresh chicken fillet" but got three small breaded gujons and two pieces of bacon. Was tasty but didn't feel was worth 11 quid. Soft drinks were nice but sadly choice was very limited. Beers also a very limited choice. Service though was friendly and speedy. Has the potential to be amazing.
K. C.
Lovely place to eat and I really like the decor and the atmosphere! Staff were very attentive and the food was really tasty! Worth a visit while in Nottingham
A. R.
We went on the strength of the reviews and we were not disappointed by the interiors and decor. Nice high ceilings and friendly staff were however, the highlights. I ordered the smoked paprika battered cod and twice cooked chips. The cod itself was pretty decent. It was flaky, tasty and reasonably flavoursome. The chips however were utterly disappointing. They were stodgy, largely tasteless and lacked both the crispy exterior and soft inside that marks a good chip. Paying £37.10 for two fish and chip meals, you expect the chips to be a lot better. The mushy peas were nice enough.
W. W.
Had a fantastic meal here on Friday evening. The food was great. Well presented. Very polite staff who where very helpful. The restaurant was clean. As was the toilets. Plenty of hand sanitizer and good COVID measures in place. Felt quite well organised and as safe as it was possible. Thanks to all the staff for making our meal possible. Great job. 😀
a. t.
We decided to go here because it was nearby but when we got here it was amazing so a real no brainier. Don’t judge a book by its cover but with this place you really can. The service was very friendly, it was a lovely atmosphere and the food was excellent. You get a lot of food with your order so come on an empty stomach. I had the chicken burger which was amazing. Definitely go with friends.
C. L. (.
No Pepsi (come on guys it's 2018 why are you only serving Coca-Cola?), upstairs is very dark, the music is a bit too loud and the "chicken basket" from the menu the basket only contains 1/3 chicken and 2/3 other things like bacon or veggie squares...
M. M.
Wow great food, great drinks and puddings to bring a smile to your face, a tad pricey but well worth it, always book through or you'll never get in.
O. Z.
Nice location. Super fast an sweet staff. Food very good. (Nice desserts!)
M. P.
Lovely food, customer service was friendly and fast
G. F.
Good selection for carnivores, omnivores, herbivores and vegans.
Staff were friendly and the place itself is attractive with a bit of originality.
They have some very good deals on their set meals right now. Think they're competitively pricing food but thankfully, not by compromising on quality.
D. H.
Superb battered cod, poor choice of beers (mainly lager) but I'll forgive that for the fantastic cod
T.
Lovely atmosphere, clean restaurant, friendly staff and tasty food. There could be a bit more on the menu, but if you enjoy British food and seafood you will love it. :)
K. A.
Love this place! The food is always excellent along with a wonderful staff...
I go every year for my birthday and my daughter's, which are days next to each other. It has become our special daddy daughter dinner place 4 years running now.
They have some excellent cocktails too!
J. L.
Great food and service. Friendly and happy staff couldn't fault it if I tried
s. F.
Had fish and chips. Very nice but a bit overpriced
H. B. I.
Loved the food, drinks and atmosphere. Catered for all of our dietary needs gluten free and dairy free. Only downside was the waitress seemed a bit distracted as when we ordered our drinks,I wanted a cocktail and water, I said what I wanted and then she was like fab and walked away before my friend could order hers.
n. w.
Good meet and greet at the door really friendly staff. Decor inside is really well done. Menu choices are first class, mostly fish but lots of other options as well. Good choice of wines and beers. The meals we had were well cooked and very enjoyable. We will visit again.
S. C.
Could well be the best fish and chips I've ever had. They have an impressive selection of variants to choose from, I had the paprika battered fish and it was delicious. That also have a decent gin selection. The staff were friendly and helpful. Will be coming back
S. S.
Amazing food, really amazing service, like, really really good service
D. H.
Went there Friday very busy but well worth it we didn't have to wait long for the food. I had the chicken with a tarragon sauce which was amazing the sauce was delicious I'm still thinking about it now. Reasonably priced welcoming staff and a great atmosphere. The only downside was the cold draught whenever the door was opened so I suggest asking for a table away from the door. Been there about 4 times, will go again very soon. Just one more thing, put the scotch eggs back on the menu they were the best.
K. M.
The chips were excellent, the rest of the food was good but not amazing and drinks were expensive.
I. M.
This place is excellent. We went there not really sure what to expect but thinking of Fish and chips. The food is really good. Fish and chips were lovely, not too heavy but very tasty. After a brief pause we ordered a sharing dessert which is exceptional, you get ice cream, candy floss and dipping doughnuts, simply brilliant. Service was superb, our waiter, Matt was brilliant with us, asked all questions about made great recommendations. We are trying to come up with an excuse to return for more soon.
C. K.
A very unique design with cool additions like beach huts to sit and have your food in! Lovely staff that were extremely kind and helpful! They even took off the chips that my 2 year old didn't eat on the bill! Clean toilets and facilities makes it so much more comfortable to visit. They have great additions on the menu that can be rarely found d anywhere else like chicken and waffle. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone who likes a varied range of food that includes fish, chicken and burgers! And wants to chill for a nice lunch or dinner.
A. P.
Nice atmosphere, tractional food. Great Arron's fish burger.
s. h.
First time visit to George's staff very efficient showed us to a table on entering. Took our drinks order and left us to have a look at the menu, returned promptly with our drinks and didn't ask us the annoying question are you ready to order yet as we were still busy discussing the menu. I think the server was looking at us from a respective distance because as soon as we had put the menu's down she was there to take our order. The meals arrived in good time and looked good on the plate with a taste to match. The server arrived not too long after we had started to eat and ask if everything was OK or needed anything else including any more drinks. The service and food was excellent, the building is nice too.
T.
The atmosphere is great, staff are friendly and polite. The food is also of a high quality, and there are many options for those who have allergies... Have to recommend the T-bone steak, it was cooked to perfection, my only issue is with the lack of seating space, however with booking in advance this can be easily avoided. Prices are reasonable, with most meals being under £20 unless they are from the meats category on the menu. Would highly recommend to those who are looking for somewhere classically British.
R. F.
Lovely food. Helpful staff

Wonderful service, very friendly, lovely food

Always great food and tonight was exceptional customer service. Would like to name 1 person but had 3 servers and all amazing. From someone who works in customer service themselves it's rare to get service I would rate so highly. You are brilliant bunch and are a credit to the Georges chain ❤️❤️
A. L.
My daughter booked a table for lunch on my birthday. We arrived a little early so enjoyed gin and tonics whilst waiting for our table. The fish and chips were excellent and the service was wonderful even though it was a very busy Saturday lunchtime. I was given a lovely Happy Birthday plank with doughnuts and candy floss and candles to finish off a lovely lunch. Will definitely visit again and would highly recommend
D. S.
I would recommend to anyone. The food was great, the staff friendly and obliging. Our first visit for my sons birthday and although we received a complimentary desert (which was a pleasant surprise) it wasn't backed up with the obligatory 'Happy Birthday' bellowing from the speakers as is the norm in other establishments. To me, this highlights the fact that it was a personal touch and not a promotional one. A clever move as they will probably get more positive PR this way.
A great experience all round and we will certainly be going back
S. C.
This place is great. It's a bit of a fancy restaurant that serves chippy type food. We had a variety of chips, sweet corn fritters, chicken, fish, mushy peas etc. All were extremely tasty. The happy hour cocktails were also great value 2 for 1. The only negative was the deserts weren't on par with the regular food. By no means bad but a couple of notches bellow the food. Definitely visit again.
A. D.
Our first visit for my partners birthday. The whole experience was fabulous, the staff friendly and chatty, knowledgable about the food and all the various cocktails. When I made the booking I informed them it was a birthday gathering. They surprised us with a complimentary happy birthday treat, which was a lovely personal touch. Food was well cooked and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Its a great environment with lovely little touches so as props to mess around with. Would highly recommend a visit.
P. L.
This is a superb place. The food is reasonably priced and well cooked. I never go for vegetarian dishes and one on the menu (Jalfrezi pie) tempted me so much I had to try - and I'm glad I did, it was superb. I would like to single out Kaye, our waitress for being very friendly and accommodating. My wife had planned the occasion to present me with a ring to renew our wedding vows and thanks to Kaye (who presented the ring on the candy floss for dessert) it went wonderfully. Very highly recommended!!
B. H.
Lovely food and great service .. Definitely will visit again when I'm Nottingham
O. H.
Very pleasant experience here. Was greeted and although busy they managed to accommodate us. Onion bahji battered cod was delicious and a nice twist. Good sized portions and reasonably priced. Very friendly staff, especially Matt who was very helpful and generous.
G. M.
Probably the best fish and chips ever, the staff were quick, polite, and friendly.
The toilets were immaculate.
The menu was varied and different we went as a party of three, we all ordered different and we all suffered food envy, we really could not fault this place on any level and would be more than happy to come back.
I have to say the dessert ice cream served with candy floss was a great treat, I forgot how nice candy floss is, thanks George.
T. P.
Very good fish and chips (I had haddock) which was perfectly cooked and delicious. Quite expensive but worth it. Good selection of gins, though I’d have preferred the tonic served separately by the side, as my g&t ended up over-tonicked for my taste. Very nice service.
S. H.
Really good food. Simple but done very well. A lovely historic building, and the decor is very nice. Prices, particularly on the lunch menu, were very reasonable. Unfortunately a screaming child marred my visit, but there's not much the staff can do about that. I'll be pleased to visit again.
M. I.
Interior is absolutely lovely, beech hut booths, high ceilings and chalk board illustrations all over. Food absolutely delicious and couldn't ask for anything else. Staff really lovely and helpful. I don't normally write reviews but sat here with a happy belly and couldn't not share with everyone! Definitely come here!!!!!!
R. S.
Fantastic food and service. Would certainly recommend and come again when next in Nottingham.
G. G.
Very good food with lots of choice, however for me, the classic fish and chips are very overpriced so I would recommend choosing something else. (There's plenty of interesting, tasty dishes). Service was slightly disappointing; we had booked a table in advance and asked for a baby seat which wasn't there when we arrived and we then had to ask twice for one. Although the waiter had seen the two children on our table, a children's menu wasn't offered and couldn't find anyone to ask for one until the waiter came to take our order. The children's menu however was also very good and included crayons and a hat.
Overall very good experience let down by attention to detail.
D. R.
Visited here for a second time yesterday with a group of five. Very busy for a late Saturday afternoon but we had booked and our table was available immediately on arrival and our request for a downstairs table was also observed. Again, service was prompt and friendly. Most had fish and chips which was good as usual. I had the Winner Winner Chicken Dinner which certainly lived up to George’s claim to do British Food with a twist. Very nice but only order if you have a big appetite!
A. T.
Amazing food, at fantastic prices, cocktails are out of this world!
All staff extremely friendly, knowledgable & eager to please.
Access wise; a little tight on space in places, but access loo is fab size, and pleasing to the eye and nose (unlike most!)
B. S.
Ok George's now do an amazing breakfast! Strongly recommend going and will go back again. It was a great price, large and super tasty! Loved the other food there and you can't go wrong for a lovely breakfast of dinner!
Best Fish and chips in the city centre!
C. C.
The food was good and the staff was kind but it will be better if they smile more.
P. P.
Really nice place. Food was great and they are dealing with the Covid situation really well. This is an example of how restaurants should and can be run during a difficult time. Well done to the manager team and crew that work there. We will be coming back!
D. J.
Food was simple and excellent. Really good flavours. The service was very sloe however. Waitress did what she could was just her on covering most of the restaurant!
Would definitely come back though. Worth the wait
K. S.
We had a reservation for 5:30 and went in early to see if they had an available table, they got us in for 3, they had an amazing gluten free manu for my celiac sister, we had 3 incredible cocktails, a starter and main, not a single fault with anything we ate or drank, everything was to die for, the server Martyn was friendly, polite and so helpful, im recommending everyone to eat there couldn't fault it and the cocktails are delicious! Affordable and quality (and real toilet roll in the loos) what more could you possibly ask for?!
A. B.
We had a big party dinner in this restaurant and had no problems with the service despite being a big group of people. The dishes were very nice and generous portions. We were allowed to bring our own birthday cake which is great.
A. W.
Fantastic food and highly recommend chicken and waffles
M. K. N. M.
The food was great when it finally arrived. All staff were courteous bar one who was assigning the tables . She showed us the menu but the first words she uttered was"can you speak good English" to understand what was written on the menu presuming as we dont look white our command of English might not be up to her 'high' standards. There were 15 of us entertaining our overseas partners on the night.
K. F.
Really nice food and drink in a present seaside themed atmosphere. Very reasonably priced for the portions you receive and friendly, approachable staff. Really unique seafood dishes. Lovely place to eat. 😃
j. g.
Just had the best ever Scottish haddock EVER. Soo fresh I could taste the sea!! Homemade chips and mushy peas to die for. Son had burger with most amazing onion rings . The desserts were again homemade and lush. Thanks I'll definitely be back 😘
J. H.
Lovely food and great service. The little beach huts are hot.
R. O.
Great food, but service not so great!
D.
Really good grub. Chips some of the best I've had anywhere. Fish decent. Little huts nice. Little bit too warm upstairs (September) and music a bit on the loud side. Waiting service good. Would go back and recommend to anyone.
t. h.
Enjoyable family lunch. Had the onion bhaji fish with rice and curry sauce which was nice enough. I would probably go for the standard fish and chips next time as I tasted my partners and it just topped mine.
C. R.
Booked a table at this place after several fab recommendations from friends and it did not disappoint. The ambience is fantastic, the food was beyond tasty and the staff were polite and jovial. We intend to eat here as often as we are in Notts! Would recommend booking if going on a weekend, very busy and understandably so. The closest to being by the seaside as you will get in the Midlands. Well done 5*+++
P. B.
Quirky city centre eatery with some imaginative and interesting twists on much-loved British favourites. Some may feel the menu is gimmicky but in reality it is well thought out and skillfully executed. And the signature dish is none other than good old cod and chips - but this is no armour plated piece of frozen fish but a moist fillet of flaky, white fresh cod encased in the lightest of batter. Chips were thick cut, crispy on the outside but floury on the inside. Hard to pull off successfully and utterly delicious. If they were more generous with the ice cream and custard accompanying the hot sweets, and the in-house lager a little less bland, then I would have awarded five stars. Service was friendly and efficient - no complaints there.
l. w.
Absolutely fantastic place!! They made my daughter feel very special on her 13th birthday! Food was gorgeous and plentuful and service outstanding. We were served by Faye and a gentleman who’s name I didn’t catch but they were both so lovely and helpful!
J. K.
Amongst the best fish and chips you'll have anywhere, never mind just the Midlands. Vintage British seaside gimmick with little beach huts which are basically private booths you can book. They serve delicious locally made ice cream. Craft beers, cocktails, wine and lovely cappuccinos.
Really nice staff and everything is really well presented. But it does get busy!
L. L.
I had fish and chips and they were the best ever brilliant place to go for a meal 😋
J. R.
Friendly efficient staff. Delicious food every time. Love the traditional haddock, chips and peas! We book George's when we come to Nottingham for a theatre show. So close to to the Theatre Royal and Concert Hall. If you are lucky to get a booth, it is very quirky! You can request on booking. Love it.
K. L.
Delicious fish and chips in a clean friendly environment. Looking forward to trying something else off the menu or the same again (it was that nice) on our next visit.
R. W.
Visited today for the first time (Christmas get together), a little disappointed l choose the healthy option the portion of fish on a bed of leaves with a little red cabbage was to say the least small, l paid £14-95 for a child's size portion of fish. The service was slow but to be fair the restaurant was very full. The staff were very nice but they were rushed of their feet. A disappointing visit
N. B.
The food is sublime. The fish and chips are spectacularly well done, the starters are varied and tasty (try the sharing boards!), and the service has always been excellent. There are also various cocktails (I particularly like the Gin Fizz), even bottles of Prosecco! Never fails to be an excellent night out.
E. A.
We have been to this restaurant twice and both times the food and service was excellent. This time, however, our experience was pretty awful and I am giving three stars just because when the food eventually arrived after an hour, and then only because we asked about it, was really good. Only two of our party wanted starters but they arrived an hour after we had ordered and it then took another 20 minutes for the mains. Another reviewer mentioned their water being topped up but we were not offered any at all. The restaurant was busy but we noticed that people who had ordered after us got their food before us. After being handed the dessert menu, the waitress disappeared for another 15 minutes at which point we asked for the bill. If it hadn't been for the fact that it was my daughter's birthday, we would have walked out before the main dishes turned up. It will be a long time before we return.
C. B.
Really nice venue. The food was great and had some great cocktails with some cool twists. The manager Chris really looked after us all night can't recommend highly enough
A. J.
Excellent service and food - 5 stars ⭐️
The staff are very friendly and always looking to ensure your time spent in their restaurant is seamless...
My family and I have eaten their twice, and on both occasions we have been more than pleased 😀
Well done 👍
L. G.
It's good fish and chips but the service was very slow. Same issues as most other restaurants, they completely forgot you when the meal is finished. Took way too long to get the bill.
L. H.
When you fancy chippy but ya feeling a bit posh. Great food. Not stupid expensive (not cheap as chips either though). Good variety of food and staff were awesome too. No complaints.
G. C.
Great food, and quirky cocktails. Lovely setting. Two good veggie options but a couple more would be appreciated. Overall an excellent meal - you definitely won't leave hungry! :)
G. B.
Fantastic meal. Been several times now and always been a very enjoyable experience. Welcoming and friendly staff, brilliant menu, superb quality food.
*.
Great ambience. First class food. And great beers and wines. Prices were ok too . 👌
D. T.
Very nice fresh food in interesting building!
M. G.
This feels unique (although there are other restaurants of the same brand around the country, they are few and far between and I believe this was the first).
George's has an interesting menu. It's USP seems to be a spin on traditional fish and chips. From traditional fish and chips to more fusion dishes (I had the bahji battered fish) you can also have cod dogs... Think sausage shaped fishcake in a hotdog bun. I have never been to a restaurant quite like it.
It doesn't just cater for fish lovers though. There are burgers and other assorted dishes such as all day breakfast pie's (more traditional ones are also available).
Smart casual attire is seems to be the dress code of choice (not required I guess). It's reasonably priced (around £15 for a main). I recommend you book, it's a very popular place and deserves to be.
M. E.
This place is great. The staff are brilliant and the food is amazing as are the drinks. I also love the background music and the decor. It's the best restaurant in Nottingham City Centre in my opinion. I cannot fault any of my visits here.
A. B.
As recently diagnosed with Coeliac ive found it very difficult to eat out as most restaurants dont have a separate menu or sometime anything I can eat but finding George's was amazing, the menu was separate for gluten free, i didnt feel awkward at all eating, could browse my menu with ease and didn't feel like a burden. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, the lighting and music really helped the mood to relax would highly recommend affordable and quality was amazing!!! Thank you so much
C. P.
Great food and drinks as always. The deserts come with candy floss which kids love. We love it here
J. M.
Wow what can say. Best fish and chips ever. My 9 year old grandaughter loves going. The staff are brilliant, and a bad influence if you like a cheeky gin and tonic 😁 the place is welcoming and clean 10 stars from me
d. s.
Food was amazing as always. The staff are so lovely. Our waitress today was so nice.
T. L.
Great fish, though stick with the grilled dishes - the fried stuff and burgers can be a tad greasy. The two beers on tap are also not bad.
D. G.
Great concept. We all had varying types of "fish n chips" which were all good. Service friendly and efficient. Star lost because a lot of chips were the small chewy bits you get with chip shop chips. Overall recommended.
A. S.
Lovely fish and chips but not ever so hot. We sat upstairs against a back wall which was too air conditioned.
To be fair we should have said something. But we didn't.
R. P.
Fantastic. Lovely food and superb staff. Only slight grumble was it took 1 hr and 15 to get food to table! But we drank through it! When it arrived it was wonderful.
B. O.
Had a lovely experience. Good food, friendly and prompt service. My hat goes off to the manager who without being asked re-seated us to a more intimate location, this being our belated Valentine's meal went down a treat and lifted the whole visit to a 5 out of 5...perfect!
L. H.
Booked to go for the husbands birthday. Good food. Nice restaurant staff. Bar staff slow and unfriendly and only one serving when busy was not good. The other bar guy was stood ignoring everyone. However, all the other staff were great and the food wad good.
h. w.
Real nice welcome, having a 9 yr old with downs syndrome I am usually aware not everyone likes special needs. So for my son to be welcome and allowed to choose from child or adult menu.
The setting is quaint, like a posh sea side restaurant . There is good lighting and music in the background.
We were offered a choice of 2 tables as they were not busy. My son chose a larger table.
As I like cod I chose the bigger cod, which was not big big. My son wanted fish fingers so he had the sandwich and they were happy to not put tartare sauce on the bread and put peas on the side. Happy to oblige.
We didnt have long to wait for our food which was hot. The tray my son had moved as he was eating! We were asked many times if we needed anything, which by todays standards the service was a+, & while some comment it was expensive place to eat the service and settings contribute to the price.
Its also very clean, the drinks menu is extensive and the dessert with candy floss I notice my son has seen it.
I. C.
Lovely food, especially the fish menu. Not just the typical fish and chips, try the other options in the menu. The place is big and the service is nice and fast. One of my favourite places to eat in Nottingham.
J.
Very popular and busy restaurant serving high quality pub style dishes. Book early and eat in one of the beach hut 'cabins' upstairs, for a quintessentially British meal! Enjoy.
D. S.
Usually a great meal here at a reasonably price.
Did suffer today from "the dry scabby chips at the bottom of the pan" syndrome though which I thought was only something you got at your local chippy when paying £2 for a portion!
Sort that out and everything would be on point.
C. S.
Famous for their fish n’ chips. Reasonable food prices.
L. D.
Fantastic fish and chips, great waiter but rather a moody, sullen lady working at the till near the door. As she was the first point of contact it wasn't a good welcome. Other than that couldn't fault it.
W. M.
If u like fisn n chips but cant be bothered to travel to the coast for them this is the place to go. Very cool setup, friendly staff, nice cocktails and great food. What more do u want.
J. M.
It should not be necessary to discuss of it's ok to bring a pushchair in if a baby falls asleep in your arms. We were allowed to in the end so it's still a three Star restaurant, food is great. But ran out of steaks and other stuff but informed us when we took our seats. Still, it should not happen to a restaurant to run out of ingredients for half the dishes on the menu.
S. H.
Good food at reasonable prices.
G. S.
Food was fabulous loved the twist on great British favourites. Will definitely go back.
l. n.
Great food and great atmosphere. Would be five starts but when we arrived with our five old, who was excited about sitting in the beach huts, we were told that we couldn't sit in them as they were only available if we had pre-booked. However, whilst we eating the staff allowed other dinners move to these huts even though they'd not pre-booked. A little disappointing
M. J.
5 minute wait and excellent service!
L. S.
The waiting staff are amazing! Real 5 star service, good portion sizes too.
M. G.
I absolutely love the food at this restaurant. Always very well cooked and some of the dishes are very imaginative. To me, the ambience lets it down a little, it can get very noisy in the evenings which makes it difficult to have a chat with your friends.
B. I.
A great place for a selection of British foods especially if you like posh fish and chips. The booths up stairs are great for little ones too as they give you a little sense of the seaside but without the beach!
R. O. J.
Great fish and chips with a bit of a modern twist. The G&T's have too much tonic in then to really taste the different find they have. Music was very loud.
D. H.
Amazing staff, the food is amazing defo be returning
g. t.
The great British fish feast was fabulous
Just need to visit the Liverpool branch now and that will be all 3 done
v.
The best chicken burger and chips ever the chips where so nice and so was the chicken burger we went at lunch and the service was so quick but it got busy very quick and was a reasonable prize I rate a five star it was the best u would defiantly go back.
C. K.
Lovely food and even better service. Beautifully served and great tasting. It was our waiters first day however he was lovely and really efficient, you would never have known:) will be returning, thanks georges
E.
Went and asked for the finest fish and chips but was told it wasn't being sold as their delivery never showed up. Had the cod instead. Was nice but nothing to write home about.
I. B.
Had Scampi and chips.
Didn't fill me with joy. Mushy please weren't great either.
R. B.
Excellent food and drink. Sampled some beautifully made cocktails at the bar before sitting down for a great meal. Service was brilliant and the food and drink were amazing, will definitely be visiting again!!
N. A.
Excellent service at the Nottingham restaurant, it was my daughter's birthday and she was made to feel really special, our waiter Adam was very attentive, nothing was too much trouble, ambiance was fabulous and food was excellent as usual. Thank you George's for a great dining experience.
J. A.
Nice place to eat, gets busy so probably better to book. Nice pleasant staff. Food really nice only downside they had run out of some of the cocktails and food
D. F.
1st visit. Offered tasters so that we could choose our beers. Food was excellent. Service really good. Prices reasonable. Couldn't have been better treated.
J. L.
Quite expensive + service charge and then asked for a tip for fish and chips what 🤔 food was nice though
A. H.
Staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Food was fantastic and presented beautifully. Would highly recommend and on our return to Nottingham, we will certainly be eating at "George's" again 😍
N. B.
Excellent! Family friendly 🌳
S. S.
Fantastic food and drink, excellent location and interior design. Would highly recommend a visit, especially if you love to eat traditional british food. Fish and chips were very tasty!
D. W.
In the party we had individuals who sampled from all over the menu. None were disappointed. I had the squid starter and the classic fish and chip main. Both were as good as it gets.
A. A.
The food was really good a lot better than I had expected. Choice of largers is poor though. Decor is really good staff are a little too quick to move you in and out.
T. D.
Menu is filled with British classics that are executed to a reasonable standard one would expect for the price. What really bothers me though, and why I only give 3 stars, is that they've allowed the music they play to be much too loud. This is always a point of contention, I'm sure some would say the music level was just fine but when you struggle to have a conversation with someone in front of you because of it then there is a problem.
J. W.
Went the extra mile to make our dining experience really special. Lovely food, wonderful choice of drinks and staff who take time to ensure your visit is perfect
A. H.
My fave place to eat out in Notts. Been here a few times and has been just as good on each visit. Food tastes fantastic, loads to choose from, child friendly and great service.
A. S.
Really good place food variety is excellent and well priced! Tastes great! Staff are friendly
D. K.
Enjoyable place. Buzzing atmosphere. Service was quality but the food was amazing. Would deffo visit again the cocktails are also pretty amazing. Really honest fun and tasty place
M. W.
I’ve been here many times & it is a great place to spend an evening. Quality food at affordable prices. Looking forward to my next visit
S. H.
Great fish and chips followed by donuts and candyfloss. Pig out evening.
D. S.
Food was really hot and delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
J.
Just how fish & chips with mushy peas should be. Good strong pot of Yorkshire Tea. Staff very nice and helpful. We will go back again.
J. C.
Great service, really helpful and knowledgeable about my daughters intolerance. Food was excellent, and fare price for city meal. Will visit again.
C. G.
This place was all round top-notch.
Quotes from the table included:
"One the best meals I've ever had"
"I will remember this meal from a long time"
"I'm definitely not hungry anymore but I need to get dessert"
S. B.
Absolutely lovely service and service and the food and drinks were awesome. Highly recommend as a great place and would go again x
H. B.
Never had a bad meal here. The staff are always so friendly and the food fresh and hot. Had the "Coddog" today. Absolutely delicious!!
R. H.
Pleasant staff, nice ambiance, good food. Prices are a bit steep given what you get, although it's nicely prepared. Watch out for the beer prices ;-)
F. S.
Fish and chips where marvellous, some of the best you will taste anywhere. If you love your fish and chips this is the place to go .staff very good and helpful would recommend to everybody.
B. W.
A beautifully refurbished building. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Always good fish regardless of the coating or how it's cooked. Booking is advisable for the weekend.
K. H.
Very good food and very friendly staff. Proper fish and chips, a tad expensive but I guess you get what you pay for.
J. N.
Nice food, although dont see why I would go here over anywhere that does very similar dishes for a fraction of the price.
J. P.
Some of the best fish and chips I've tasted away from the coast. Really pleasant surroundings, relaxed atmosphere, and great sized portions.
a. c.
I love this place, the quality of food on offer is fantastic, the homemade curry sauce is the best I've ever tasted, unfortunately they change the menu periodically,so the curried vegetable pie I had the first time I visited wasn't on the menu, however the meal I chose was just as delicious. There is a wide variety of drinks on offer too, soft, hot or alcoholic, there's something for everyone,I cannot fault anything about the place.
C. T.
Great food and drink only let down, we went recently as a large group, took ages to get served and get food, some people ordered burgers and were not impressed, could have got better in McDonalds for less money. I always order the fish and never had a complaint.
R. J.
Food amazing! Decor fantastic. Intelligently designed. I shall return to try everything on the menu with anticipation. Well played George's.. well played 👏
T. H.
Not your average fish and chips. George's do the best chips and serve quality fish. It's a great looking place and good prices too. Two fins up!
d. Z. I.
It serves quality ingredients food, verymuch English tradition Fish and Chips and seafood restaurants. It has the same warm welcome no matter which one you go to.
H. R.
This was one of the finest meals I've had in a long time. Excellent service and delicious food. Well worth a visit.
B. C.
Good food, reasonably priced, good service and nice atmosphere. A bit noisy as there are no soft furnishings to absorb the noise. In the centre of Nottingham, what's not to like!
D. T.
Limited menu but good venue and nice service. Ok
c. c.
Fantastic venue just off the square. Interesting menu that puts a modern culinary twist on all the old favourites. Plenty of choice and good value too.
M. L.
Great food, just a shame we had to wait so long for somone to serve us, fair enough it was a Saturday but no one wants to wait 45 mins to get a drink let alone a food order.
D. P.
Great place, great food, great service.
Excellent atmosphere... Only one down side, George's English kitchen ran out of English mustard.
But overall will be back for a second meal.
W. D.
Brilliant atmosphere, staff and food. Glad we booked a table though...busy place. Thoroughly recommend
R. D.
'up market-ish' fish and chip shop, fish cooked ok, waitress (Fay) excellent.
Food gets cool pretty quickly due to the air conditioning.
R. S.
Popped along for "proper fish n chips" as my partner is from Bridlington and has complained that the fish and chips in Nottingham are not a patch on his home town. This place proved that statement wrong as reluctantly he has had to retract that statement. His words are "the best fish and chips he's had in his entire life" that's might praise from a Yorkshire man
H. H.
Our first visit to Nottingham in years. Had a wonderful evening here with family , food was great , atmosphere great, we had excellent service during our meal ,a wonderful evening all round , thank you .
S. V.
The paprika battered fish is one of the best batters I think I've ever tasted! Lovely staff and ambience, I'd fully recommend this plane.
S. H.
Good food. Adequate service. Very loud music. Chips served in chipped porcelain. Brilliant decor. Great potential but lacked finesse.
c. b.
Listed as having good vegetarian options - found to be untrue - only one for starters/snacking and one for main - grilled haloumi and cauliflower jalfezi pie. Another pie, uncurried - would have been good such as mushroom, leek & walnut in cream based sauce as an alternative to chicken and ham and leek or breadcrumbed squash with houmous for example. The gravy served with pie was delicious by vegetarian standard offerings.
Lovely setting and attentive friendly service. A great alternative to Bills nearby. Being charged for soda in fevertree bottle with white wine was a little disappointing since not stated upon ordering that it wasn't on draught.
D. P.
Love this place. Fish and chips are amazing. Staff and service very good. And just next to the Christmas market!!
S. C.
Very nice, fish extremely fresh went with a group of 11 of us an all 11 enjoyed their meals 😁
C. V.
Yummy fish n chips with great alternatives. Dessert amazing mix of seaside favourites, candy floss, donuts and icecream... yum yum yum!
a. w.
Delicious food very filling, friendly staff most obliging. Great atmosphere and comfortable seating. Excellent eating place for the middle of Nottingham would recommend.
D. B.
It was the first time I had been. Lovely food, friendly staff. I will definitely return.
F. A.
Really tasty variety of fish dishes & soft drinks, great atmosphere and decor, yet cutlery chunky, no salad cream & mixed service experience.....overall would definitely eat here again.
b. h.
Lovely place to eat, drink and relax! Food is amazing and the staff extremely friendly, definitely worth a visit!
R. D.
I had the Bun Vermicelli noodles with prawns and an iced coffee and it was delicious! Would recommend!
l. p.
Absolutely beautiful food, just one thing that disappointed me was that it ended. Staff were excellent. 10/10.
N. G.
Great place! Wonderful fish and chips and a nice wine selection! Would definitely recommend
S. K.
Mains were superb, great service and the drinks were good. Some of the desserts didn't quite live up to the billing the way everything else did but would still recommend.
D.
The best fish and chips I've ever had. Really quirky restaurant. Loved it!
R. B.
Very polite staff, got water on our table without asking. which is very nice. Food was great too
A. C.
Gorgeous fish and chips, drinks a bit pricey but can't grumble and staff were attentive and friendly.
L. d.
Absolutely amazing Staff and Food I will definately return!!!!!
Thankyou :)
k. p.
The food was fantastic and one portion is very filling so I did not have a chance to taste the desserts.
C. S.

Popped along for "proper fish n chips" as my partner is from Bridlington and has complained that the fish and chips in Nottingham are not a patch on his home town. This place proved that statement wrong as reluctantly he has had to retract …

In the party we had individuals who sampled from all over the menu. None were disappointed. I had the squid starter and the classic fish and chip main. Both were as good as it gets.

A great place for a selection of British foods especially if you like posh fish and chips. The booths up stairs are great for little ones too as they give you a little sense of the seaside but without the beach!
