Absolutely amazing experience. The sashimi was fresh and tasty, thickness of the sashimi was very good. The amount of food that comes with the bento box was a lot! Beverage prices are reasonable, not like some other rip off japanese restaurants. Definitely worth a visit!
C. F. W.
Nice service and great food! Definitely try the sushi and sashimi dinner set (28 pounds including 12 pieces of sashimi, 6 pieces of sushi and 6 pieces of nigiri ( roughly) and dessert!!! Hot sake is also nice to try!

One of the best Japanese restaurants you can ask for in Nottingham. Personal favourite:
Tea Rice - which is kinda rare to find in the UK
Seared Salmon Roll - enjoy the twist of spicy miso sauce
Y. C.
Steak don was nicely flavoured but was way too over which made it really chewy. Sushi was OK but the snow crab tempura was amazing.

My favorite uk restaurant. Just as good as my first experience. Excellent food, great service. Thank you
C. H. C.
Great Japanese food and probably the best I had outside London (within the UK of course). Sashimi was fresh and I had a good time. It is unfortunately on the pricey side but it is definetely worth a try.
E. N.
Beautiful food, great service! Will definitely be back! Loved every bite.
H. L.
The best Japanese restaurant in Nottingham, high quality foods and good service, would recommed and come back again.

Amazing food! A mixture of good practice value set meals and more expensives dishes. Cosy little restaurant with pleasant staff and free parking around the corner after 6pm. I've been a few times and will always go back!

Food was super tasty but they 100% need more staff the service was sooooo slow.

High quality sushi in an authentic restaurant. Best sushi in Nottingham
C. L.
Probably the most authentic Japanese restaurant in nottingham food was ok but a bit overpriced for the amount of food per portion
Y. W.
Highest standard of Japanese food one can get outside of Japan. Very attentive to detail and delivers food with chef's own creativity. Sushi are made with delicious combinations of ingredients and flavours, which are not found at your usual sushi place. An extremely pleasant dining experience where one is guaranteed to leave with both a very full heart and stomach!

Absolutely amazing Sushi and Shashimi in beautiful.surrondings with excellent service. My only issue is that it has ruined sushi for me now because anywhere else won't be as good 😁 5 stars

Astounding food, impressive service: this is THE place to go in Nottingham if you want to experience real, high quality Japan cuisine.

This is a really cute Japanese restaurant. The menu has a decent amount of choice and would most likely offer something to everyone's taste. The sushi is fresh and delicately prepared, they also serve some less common pieces such as belly tuna. Quite small inside so reservation are a good idea.
K. M.
Beautiful food. If you love sashimi, you'll love this.

Best Japanese restaurant in Nottingham, and has been for last 15 years. Always order the Agedashi Tofu as standard, and then order more. Whatever way you choose to make your way through the menu, do find a way to include the Black Cod (I like to have it later in the meal with Miso).
S. C.
Very nice staffs, good service, and good foods.

Good was great. Veggie teasing menu went down well with our friend and looked great. Sashimi also good. Yes quite expensive. Not helped by U.S. ordering saki and paying £20 for a bottle too big for us to drink.
Will go back and would recommend.

Higoi is definitely the first restaurant you should consider in the Nottingham area when wanting to try authentic Japanese Cuisine. While expensive and much more than I would normally pay for a meal as a student, the quality of the food is excellent and it's certainly worth the price. I couldn't reccommend Higoi more to someone who wants to try authentic Japanese food.
J. P.
Best place in Nottingham to enjoy high quality and authentic Japanese food. Highly recommend!
J. K.
One of the best Japanese meals we've had, and the menu has a few things you won't find elsewhere. Nice people too.

Wow, wow, wow! Best sushi and sashimi in Nottingham by far. Chicken curry was also super tasty, great service too. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
J. B. -. P.
If you're looking for authentic japanese food then this is the place for you. Tempura isnt just battered shrimp and the tempura sauce is proper tempura dipping sauce not just teriyaki sauce like most japanese places in notts. Sushi melts in your mouth and fresh too. Even the sushi and sashimi dipping sauce is to die for! Ramen is amazing too!
C. F.
Tasty food. Great customer service, except long delays. Only one server and he was doing back and forth between all the tables, causing further delays.
Price is reasonable.
D. L.
Awesome food and service. Best Japanese Restaurant in UK! Pay twice as much in London for JP food not even half as good!
J. W.

Great food and friendly staff. It doesn't look like much from the outside but the food was delicious and a great selection of veggie options.

Another excellent evening at higoi. Their agedashi tofu is to die for, and that's just for starters.

(Translated) The official website has the honor of "since 1989, the longest running Japanese restaurant outside London" (English original: Higoi is longest running Japanese restaurant outside London in UK since 1989). Before I went there, my assumption was that the Japanese food restaurant should have a very spacious seat, but it turned out to be not at all, but it has a pattern that is only found in local small stores in Japan, and it is more friendly.
Due to the small shop, there are not many choices of staple food.
Recommendation: Chapao Rice (Japanese: 茶豆け/ちゃづけ) - After all, in the UK, not only Nottingham, but the chance to see Chapao rice in London is really rare.
Here's a list of what to eat and what to eat in total:
🐟Sashimi (Sashimi)
- Simply ordered tuna, salmon and scallops, all of which are fresh for sure plus points.
🦀Tempura Soft Shell Crab (Tempura Soft Shell Crab)
- The Japanese enlightenment dish when I was a child, it is a must if you can order it. The batter is very good, making it crispy and not greasy.
🐔Chicken Yakitori Skewer (Japanese BBQ Chicken Skewers)
The taste is amazing - it locks the moisture of the chicken into the meat very well, and it is coated with a thin layer of secret roasting sauce before serving to achieve the finishing touch.
🍣 Seared Salmon Roll (Roasted Salmon Roll)
- Don't underestimate this simple-sounding grilled salmon roll, it's really the only place in Nottingham that can eat sushi that is deliberately made with spicy miso.
🫖 Tea Rice (Tea Rice)
- Eel + fried shrimp. Although it is just a simple decoration and a simple tea soup, it is a small wish that I have not eaten tea and rice in the UK for 6 years. Satisfy.
🥞 Matcha Pancake
- This one was also surprised by Xiaoxiao, bitter matcha has always been uncommon in the UK. If you don't like bitterness, you must eat it with ice cream. (***If the crust can be made into bitter matcha flavor, I will definitely raise my hands and feet - probably not many people can accept such a dessert)

在官网有着 “自1989年开始,伦敦区以外营业最久的日料餐厅”的荣耀(英文原文:Higoi is longest running Japanese restaurant outside London in UK since 1989)。
🐟Sashimi(生鱼片)
🦀Tempura Soft Shell Crab (天妇罗软壳蟹)
🐔Chicken Yakitori Skewer (鸡肉串日式烧烤)
🍣 Seared Salmon Roll (烤三文鱼卷)
🫖 Tea Rice (茶泡饭)
🥞 Matcha Pancake(抹茶煎饼)

(Translated) This labor export company is quite cherished and prestigious. Before, I went to Tokyo agricultural orders and was supported by officials of the company. Give 5 stars about the quality of service!

(Translated) I didn't think I could fully enjoy Shigeju in a place so far away from Japan. Sashimi and tempura are no different from Japan. I would definitely recommend it to those who want to taste real Japanese food.
