Reviews of Rose & May

Fabulous small and extremely personable cafe serving gorgeous local produce and the best tea and coffee I've had in Bingham, also. excellent service. Second to none. I would highly recommend

This tiny place was a very nice surprise, very cosy little French themed café with a surprisingly big menu for such a small place.
The food a drinks were great and to think it was all prepared in such a small space makes it even more impressive!
The service was absolutely fantastic and the owner was very sociable and great to chat to. Definitely worth checking out - if you can get a table!

Best cafe in Rushcliffe - I recently had the best pot of Earl Grey I've ever tasted here, and picked up a few bottles of excellent micro-brewery beer. This place seems to be run with a real passion for good food and drink, I always come away with some wonderful recommendations from their deli shelves!

Lovely atmosphere, looking forward to coming back!

A very personal touch, a charming setting, excellent food at an excellent price, and a very level-headed and fine conversationalist in Ian, the proprietor! I visited at a quiet time of day while on a long February cycle trip, and found a very amenable and flexible café that suggested a menu to suit me rather than restricted my choice or left me guessing. I also got some very useful local knowledge in a heavily-trafficked area, allowing me to continue on the quietest yet most direct local roads. Thank you - many café visits do all that is needed and more, but this one stands out. May you get the continued and contented custom you deserve! Best wishes, Dan

Ate outside, pre lockdown2. Good ploughman's dinner. Could trade some of the generous cheese for more bread, but just personal preference. Courtyard us off the road though quite public. Not sure if they have toilets. Great selection of deli food inside including home made chutneys, and specialist Gins. Staff friendly.

Super little find. Very friendly, good brew and scone. Ideal cycle stop as just off Sustrans Route 48.

As Tier 3 restrictions meant we couldn't go to Rose and May, Rose and May came to us! I emailed my order through and got a call back straight away to confirm and take payment. Ian delivered the food at the time he said and gave comprehensive heating instructions for both oven and microwave. My partner had the pork terrine starter which he said was one of the best he's tasted, then went for the boeuf bourguignon which smelled so delicious I had to pinch a bit. The meat was so tender and the sauce scrumptious. I opted for the chicken breast flambeed in calvados with an apple and cream sauce and loved it. Our sides were dauphinoise potatoes and green beans with garlic - and both were lovely. I will definitely be ordering again. It made for a lovely Tier 3 date night.

Sitting outside in the sun was like being on holiday. Lovely friendly service and the homemade jam was the best.

If you can find this little jewel in Bingham you will be utterly delighted. It is tiny but the food is unusual and excellent as is the range of delicatessen produce. Home baked cakes look wonderful. Within a stone's throw of the market Square in a small square off Main Road. Try to find it. You will be well rewarded.

Thanks Ian for preparing a delicious meal for us. The 3 of us each had a different starter and were really happy with our choices. The beef carbonade and lamb navarin meats were so tender - and we are convinced there was half a chicken in the mushroom sauce! The lemon posset was a triumph. Your advice on which wine to go with the carbonade was on point too! The whole meal was delicious - and delivered when you said you would.

The ploughman's platter was outstanding. The warm cheese scone with home made chutney is one of my favourite. This is a homely but small place to eat with gentle French music in the background.

Had a warm welcome, thought i would try the Spanish omelette and was very surprised to see it served up on a piece of bread the omelette was so blaned needed seasoning and very dry the cheese on the top was falling down being extremely dry and just luke warm .very disappointed with the dish and the owner was quite surprised with my comment .He certainly didn't offer any money off my bill !
