J.Great service, tasty cocktails. The bread brought before the starters were delicious with the butter. Meals were flavourful and extremely well presented. We had the chefs selection of deserts which we enjoyed. The interior design was very cool.

P. R.Great food served by lovely staff. I would definetely come back here again. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and the atmosphere is perfect. We had 3 courses and all of them were lovely. From soup to beautifully cooked beef steaks it was all amazing. My tip would be to get the triple cooked chips as an extra side they were amazing. It is more expensive than other restaurants but you are paying for the quality of the food. I would reccomend this place for a special occasions.

I went there with my partner to celebrate my birthday and it was as expected. We have a pisco sour in the lounge while deciding on our food order.
As starters, we’ve ordered the beef tartare and the chicken parfait. For our mains, we’ve had the lamb rump and the beef fillet. To finish, we shared the raspberry tart. It was delicious.

But I love this place, I love the decor, the ambience, I fancied everything on the menu and ended up with pigeon (perfectly cheffed), duck main, and salted caramel tart. It was all rammed with flavour ....and particularly the sides....absolutely delicious. The mains are very generous and perhaps we wouldn't have ordered as many sides had we known just how generous they were going to be. We will definitely be back, without doubt. H. S.The service was as attentive as previous experiences. Our starter was excellent but the main course, duck, was chewy. The restaurant kindly gave us free coffee because we complained. However, when we received the bill we were astonished by the price. It was only later that I worked out that we had been given the a la carte menu and not the set lunch one. Our fault for not spotting that the 'sheet ' had separate prices on it but we should have been offered the set lunch sheet as well as the a la carte. Excuse the pun but was left with a nasty taste in the mouth.
R. P.It was okay. We came here in April for my boyfriends birthday. Although the service was excellent, the food wasn’t consistent with the price tag it has associated with it. I had the smoked potato ravioli to start, and the pasta was raw, my boyfriend had the pigeon and said it was extremely chewy. I had the pumpkin for main, which was tasteless and the rest of the vegetables were extremely tuff. My boyfriend had the lamb and said it was delicious but I noticed it was a very fatty cut. The triple cooked chips were also very dry. As it was my boyfriends birthday, I didn’t want to ruin the evening by complaining. We were also placed on the table next to the kitchen so couldn’t really relax all night as there was constant footfall walking past. With a higher price band comes a high expectation, which it didn’t meet. It would have been appropriate if the food was half the value it was. We won’t be returning and if you’re looking for a similar calibre restaurant, I would instead recommend Alchemilla or The Larder on Goosegate for a much cheaper price. If you’re looking for just tastier food in Nottingham, I would instead recommend Bar Iberico, Botti de Mama or Coco Tang. 2.5 stars.

Had the set menu which had a good selection of choices at a reasonable price for the type of food (about £23 for 2 courses and £30 for 3).

T. F.I still believe this is one of the best places to eat in Nottingham. Food is great, service is great... not a lot else to think about except perhaps this: It's an occasion restaurant. Don't expect a plate stacked high with food - it's not a slap-up meal joint, but instead it's carefully cradted and it's brilliant. I'm always stuffed when leave, but if you're after a massive plate of grease, perhaps after a booze fuelled session (we've all been there), this ain't the joint for you. If you want thoughtful combinations of taste that you never thought would work but then you try them and it's AMAZING, go to World Service - you won't go wrong.

Service is spot on, attentive without being overbearing.
Best place to park is the Maid Mariam car park and walk up the hill. Parking is £5.80 after 6pm till 9.30pm when we left.

S. C.We visited for a family celebration meal after a long anticipated wait. The lady maitre 'd was rather rude and un welcoming , so not a great start. The other waiting staff were a big improvement and the food was fantastic so things improved somewhat. I found the ambiance a little stuffy and the dining room actually cold. Overall I have to say I was disappointed in the experience.
Would I go back? Probably not. I would go back to iberico in an instant though.

I would say the food and wine is a tad overpriced for what it is, you can get similar quality at much lower prices at other places in Notts but I suppose you are paying for the service and atmosphere as well.

m. “.Having lived in Nottingham for the last 10 years, thought it was about time we visited World Service.
The restaurant is aptly named as their service is second to none, attentive but surprisingly more relaxed than I anticipated.
The food was elegantly plated and it was clear the amount of care that was put in on this front.
I ordered the Scallops to starts, with my wife going for the Goats Cheese. Both were delicate and fantastically fresh.
The Hake main course was also beautifully well thought out with Katsu "umaminess" and with the occasional burst of freshness from the Coriander Oil.
Would also recommend going for a drink before / after outside, as the space World Service have is wonderfully tucked away from the other bars and restaurants in Nottingham.
Would absolutely visit again.

Not treated any differently despite choosing the set menu (which we have unfortunately often found to be the case at other establishments). Really good value for money for delicious food, good wine and an all round lovely experience.
J.My favourite restaurant in Nottingham! I went here for the second time on Valentine's Day and was treated with a champagne and canape starter (parsnip foam in an egg shell which sat on top of crispy parsnips in a shot glass). The canape wasn't amazing but it was nice and quirky which I enjoyed. We followed it with a Fruits of the Sea sharer platter which, as I'm not a lover of seafood, I wasn't looking forward to but it was amazing. It had fried oysters, scallops, crab meat on bread, and prawn cocktail.
For main course we chose the beef to be cooked medium, again it was amazing. It was melt in your mouth! The kale which accompanied it was a little too salty but complemented the meat nicely.
For dessert we had another sharing platter which had cheesecake, brownies and something else...for a restaurant that offers sharing desserts they were amazing. The wine was good and the cocktails lovely, too.
Oh, and on the way out they gave me a flower!

The restaurant is small and therefore quiet so if you're looking for lively this might not be your thing. If good food, good service and want to sample one of the best restaurants in Nottingham, then I would recommend it.
c. f.Took my girlfriend here for her birthday with high expectations after hearing many good reports . We started off with a cocktail bye the fireplace in the lounge area which were excellent and the service was great to very friendly and helpful . After a nice relaxing drink in such a good atmosphere we where showed to are table which was fine . Starters came which looked great I had pork and my girlfriend had the scallops which also looked great ! My starter I felt was average and my girlfriends scallops where covered in salt I mean excessive amounts of salt . She didn't want to make a scene but we did tell the waitress the scallops where way to salty to which she replied " I'll let the chef know " and that's the last we heard of that ........
Main came out venison which was cooked beautiful but again lacked wow factor and the halibut I had was nice but again wasnt anything special ..... desert on the other hand was very good and the wine was excellent !
Overall it was good but I don't think it's anything to shout about when you consider the amount of money I paid to go there . I have to say we have been many great places in the past and paid a lot less for a better meal so we probably won't be returning and I couldn't really recommend it to friends who also have a love for good food .

I'll be honest when I was told we were going to a placed called 'world service' I was expecting a world food, all you can eat buffet - turns out it couldn't have been further from the truth.

When it came it was very good and well presented. I had very slow cooked for-ribs of beef and they were so tasty and succulent. The only thing was I didnt pay so can't comment on value. Thats the only reason I did not give 5 stars. Will come back agin under my own steam though.

I. R.The decor and lighting here is perfect, you settle into the comfortable chairs and can easily find yourself still here way after the meal has finished. The food is very good and the menu changes regularly enough to make it worth revisiting, accompany this with the good wine menu and some of the best service in Nottingham and it makes for a great evening.
D. K.I was one of about thirty or so, who were lucky enough to attend my son's wedding lunch here in September. And what a fine restaurant this is! Great location, in the shadows of historic Nottingham Castle and some of the earliest pubs in the country. But the main reason to enthuse is undoubtedly the food ..sublime! Lunch or dinner, the offerings are essentially on a fixed price menu basis, but with choice of five or so exquisitely cooked and presented dishes for every course, I can (almost) guarantee that you won't be disappointed. With well-trained, immaculately turned-out and very polite waiting & management staff - my experience of the World Service Restaurant is memorable - for all the RIGHT reasons.
C. Ó. C.A fantastic gem hidden away in Nottingham. This restaurant is bordering on Michelin star quality food. It is pricey so be aware before going ahead and trying it that it will put a hole in your wallet. As others have said, small portions but I can guarantee big flavour. A definite must for a very special occasion and has a great area by the bar for having an aperitif.
O. M.This restaurant is one of the finest in Nottingham. I will always choose to go here for special occasions, the staff pay incredibly close attention to the dining area to ensure customers are happy but they are not intrusive. Genuinely good advice on the drinks and food menus from all staff which really helps as it all looks so good.
The only problem I have found is with visiting again before the menu has changed, you may be tempted to order the same dish only to be presented with something unexpected. I have found myself dreaming of a meal which after ordering for a second time has come out very different to the last! The lesson I suppose is try something new each time.

A. T.Really good food when they get it right, but maybe this place doesn't quite live up to the hype. Beef carpaccio hugely underseasoned and my Indian spiced squash starter was fairly average. Slow roast beef rib main was gorgeous, nicer than the more expensive straight steaks. Assiette of desserts is definitely a wow. I think the food and experience is much better on a week night than a busy weekend night, when mistakes seem to creep in and service seems more rushed. Cocktails are amazing. A great restaurant, but I don't think the best in the city.

J.Still one of Nottingham's best restaurants. Great for a romantic night or a special occasion. Set in an historic services club with a nod to old world colonial days. Shame, like so many good places in Nottingham in this era of great craft beer, that the beer selection is so limited and run of the mill.
