Reviews of Pierre Victoire
M. T.
Very tasty French food with generous portions. All dishes have a lovely blend of flavours, and are well balanced.
The desserts are quite average, so we opted to skip them the second time we visited.
The service is minimal, and this is reflected in the lack of service charge. Although the price of the meal overall would be about the same for a restaurant of similar quality with service charge.

We had a nice dinner!
It was Sunday evening, we walked in with no reservation. They told us that they’re fully booked tonight however there is a spot for only an hour now. It actually worked perfectly for us! Everything was very tasty and served at the perfect time. Great service!

Really nice place.
It's not inexpensive. The prices are quite high, at least for my budget. Fixed price- 28.50 for two course. 34.50 for three course. And the alcohol is expensive too.
But if you want to have a high-end dinner in Oxford and you have the money to spend, this is a fantastic choice. Good location- Little Clarendon Street. Lots of seating space. Ground floor, outdoors, upper floors. Very well maintained. Helpful, friendly staff. The food is delicious. The portions are good, especially for the main course. I tried a lot of the dishes and everything tasted superb.
C. K.
Heard it's one of the best French restaurant in town. We made a reservation for dinner and by the time we got there, the restaurant was fully packed.
We were served with some bread and butter. They were really yummy.
I ordered 2 courses meal, entree and main course both were vegetarian. The entree was roasted parsnips on pastry puff with balsamic dressing. It was nice and I had this three beans curry with couscous. The taste was just ok but the portion was big.
G. R.
Excellent service and food was very solid. We really enjoyed the atmosphere in here and the staff was exceptional - you could tell that they enjoy their work. For them alone I'd rate this place highly.
That said, a similar level of care goes into the food they serve, with creative dashes of colour and flare in everything that was brought to our table.

Went to Pierre Victoire for birthday celebration. The food was delicious and service was great. Prices are on point at about 30 quid for three course meal. Cheese souffle is the best I've had.

My son found this lovely restaurant online and told me that booking was recommended. We didn’t book, however, as it was a Monday night and we were going at opening time…we were really lucky to get a table! All they had was a small table by the door, which initially didn’t look that appealing but very glad we said yes. I can see why they say book!
They have a lovely Prix Fix menu with a great selection and a very well-rounded wine list from which I picked a very nice half bottle Côtes du Rhône.
We went for two courses: starter & main. My son had the Duck BonBons & the Steak-Frittes, both of which were delicious. I had the Carpaccio to start and the Monkfish with Crab Risotto…seriously yummy!
Atmosphere was lively & chic, the service was attentive and knowledgable, presentation was stylish - everything you would expect from a family-run French restaurant.
C'est vraiment excellent ;-)
L. L.
Top notch food for a very reasonable price in a rustic setting. I dined here with two family members last night and we were all very impressed. I had the scallops to start and the steak to follow - both flavoursome and cooked to perfection. Good selection of wines and a nice atmosphere. Only negative is it's verrrrry loud.
K. D.
I didn't have high hopes for this place but I was pleasantly surprised overall. I had the mussels to start which were big and juicy, really good. My partner had the frogs legs which were really pathetic, don't go for them.
. Mains were steaks which were great. Drinks were over priced so the meal was rather expensive overall.
D. A.
Excellent food, excellent service and a warm and inviting environment, with an authentic "French bistro" feel - what more could you wish for?
N. P.
Amazing 3 course Sunday lunch menu for £18.50. Everything was fresh, flavorsome home made and delicious. Will definitely go back!

If you want to have a cozy place with excellent french cuisine in Oxford .... you now find the right one here. Best french cuisine in town, warm and friendly service, don't miss it.
E. V.
This was our first trip to Oxford and we searched online for restaurants and Pierre Victoire popped up. We made a reservation and were very lucky they could accommodate us. Not deterred by the 1h45m time slot allocated, we arrived to a bustling family run restaurant that smacked of authentic French cuisine.
The service was top notch, as was the food and wine. Really couldn't fault it and would recommend it to anyone, especially the cheese souflé!
D. G.
Booked in advance as looked popular glad we did as it was busy. Set price menu was good and decent amount of choices. Very friendly staff and swift service. Starters and main courses were lovely but dessert was ok not outstanding would just have 2 courses next time. A good meal for the price.
K. “.
Food was tasty and served very quickly, selection of wines was great too. Place went busy very quickly. We was lucky to walk-in a get the table as place was booked up on the Wednesday evening.
J. C.
Cosy friendly atmosphere with fabulous authentic French cuisine, including a Pastis!!!
M. C.
The restaurant was bustling on a Sunday evening. The food arrived in good time impressive given how busy it was. I enjoyed 2 courses so can't comment on the desserts. The table next to us did however visibly enjoy thier puddings with barely anything remaining. The staff were attentive without being overbearing. Would recommend this independent restaurant to friends.
L. W.
Lovely French eaterie with wonderful tasty dishes and delightful staff. We’d definitely be coming back again!
M. F.
Good food - decent price for 3 course set menu
G. A.
Lovely food, lovely service! Would definitely recommend!!!
C. M.
We walked in with no booking last night, and they gave us a great table. Food was delicious, my only disappointment was a lack of scallops on the menu but the soufflé made up for it! Prices were fair for the quality on offer.
I think we have a new favourite place!
J. N.
Excellent food and good service but very poor coffee. Despite there being a nicer vacant table for two we were put right at the back in a dark corner. We had quite a late lunch and no-one came to sit at the table we would have preferred.
A. T.
Nice restaurante, very affordable and nice food. The wine is great as well.
However, for a French restaurant you'd expect some real bread. Instead what we got for the wait was a sad baguette at a similar quality to the supermarket bread.
Definitely recommend but don't expect real French baguette.
S. B.
This is just exceptional! We managed to get the last available table on a busy Saturday evening. Initially I wasn’t impressed as it was a little close to the kitchen and pass. However, it turned out to be ideal, as not only could we se everything happening in the restaurant, we had an excellent view of what was going on behind the scenes! If you add that to the best Bouillabaisse I have tasted outside of France, this is great place! Friendly staff, service with a smile and a delicious selection of food on the Prix Fixe menu.
G. Y. T.
good food n big portions. enjoyed the dinner. make your reservations before going.

Reviews about this place were amazing so my partner and I were very excited to come for food.
Starters were lovely we had the asparagus and the muscles. The mains were a letdown. The monkfish was overcooked and gritty, but the risotto itself was excellent. The rabbit was dry and had some unexpected chunks of broken bone in it. Atmosphere and waiting staff were all excellent.
N. G.
Excellent food, very attentive and efficient staff. A little off the beaten track but some lovely wine bars nearby and definately worth the walk. Would highly recommend - sadly just here for a short break but otherwise would definitely return. Highly recommended.
J. G.
Overall, Pierre Victoire is a nice place to dine out. The food is tasty and flavoursome. The decor is unassuming but effective. Service is generally good, though it can be difficult to get servers' attention during busy times. If possible, avoid being sat on the ground floor near the restaurant's telephone, as the loud and constant ringing gets annoying very quickly!
J.
Favourite restaurant in the local area. Great, affordable, homemade, traditional food. I've never had a bad wine there, and it's the best value for money list I've ever seen. Fantastic, natural atmosphere. Staff are helpful & never intrusion. Not to be missed.
R. S.
The food was good and prices were very reasonable especially as compared to other sit in and dine restaurants (not including fast food restaurants). It was not a fancy interior and a bit noisy. Servers don't pour your wine like a higher end restaurant but that was not a big issue for us. I would recommend it.
J. M.
There's a reason why it's so hard to get a booking here. This well ran family restaurant delivers exceptional quality meals with locally sourced produce. I warn you however, the menu is difficult to choose from - too many good options! I was wary at first ordering moule for entreés, given the locality to any coastline, but the mussels were fantastic, I could have ordered a pint of just the marinière sauce. I snaffled a bite of the soufflé, also a great choice. After long deliberation I settle for the lapin. Full of flavour, sided with fresh haricotes, a smooth mash and doused in a rich creamy moutard sauce, delicious. My friend ordered the filet de boeuf, cooked to perfection and melt in your mouth. For desert we enduldged in a rich tout chocolat and the fromage, perfect end to the meal. In short, you can't really go wrong with this restaurant or anything on the menu. Also, if you're celebrating, the house champagne was very good.
G. M.
Pierre Victoire is by far one of the best restaurants in Oxford! The food is always absolutely amazing and served by friendly and helpful staff. Don't waste your time and money going anywhere else if you want to have a brilliant dining experience.
m. s.
Lunch on 27/08/2022 . As always excellent food and atmosphere . That is why we go back there. Highly recommended and one of the shrinking number of small restaurants in Oxford , which suffers from being a tourist honey- trap in terms of mediocre restaurants. Support these people they deserve it.
E. S.
Cute place, nice staff etc, everything would be perfect if.... Only two vegetarian dishes are on the menu and both are pure Italian 🤷 I really expected French experience. It took me 2 minutes to browse online to find intresting French vegetarian recipes. Please contact me to give you some advice. Thank you.
C. K.
Went there for our Wedding Anniversary. Probably the fourth or fifth table to arrive after they opened. Waited for over 40 minutes for the food to be told our order never went in. When the food arrived 20 minutes later it was enjoyable.
J. A.
Service and food are great - love the set menu's and can't go wrong with the Filet! Fantastic place for a date or just a nice evening dinner. Would highly recommend.
G. S.
Really wonderful food. I had octopus salad (highly creative) and Chicken stuffed with red pepper and goat's cheese. The flavours were beautifully harmonised, and a bottle of Carignan/Merlot house wine went nicely with the food.
J. C.
Great food, great presentation, great service, and great value!
A. D.
Extraordinary steak, delicious pudding (banoffee pie!), Excellent service. Just a good experience all round. As with all French restaurants order a level of doneness above what you want (my medium was what I'd expect medium rare to be).
M. P.
Really tasty food and a unique restaurant for oxford, but they weren’t great with our large group booking for 31. Despite me collecting everyone’s pre-orders and sending it to them 2 days before, they had to come round and ask details for certain meals which got confusing and interrupted our meal, when they either already had the details with the pre-order or should have asked for them in advance. We had been told in advance that our booking ended at 8 which was fine with us, but they started bringing desserts out at 8:10 and only brought the last desserts at 8:30, then immediately rushed us to pay.
S. B.
We had an excellent meal, very tasty and well presented. The restaurant has a good atmosphere and is obviously very popular.
L. W.
fantastic food and atmosphere
recommend the confit duck
H. S.
Strong "rapport prix qualité" - good value and very good tasting food. As if it's in a village deep in the French countryside - except it's in the middle of Oxford. If we lived nearby we would be regulars.
l. d.
My all time favourite restaurant! The food is always sensational and the service is fantastic.
Traditional rustic French menu with a varied and extensive choice.
Can't wait until the next visit! :-)
E.
Absolutely stunning! Simply delicious food with the best service! Extremely happy with our time here and we will definitely be back! Staff very friendly and made the best recommendations for wine to go with our food, thank you so so much!!
Escargot was delicious as was the terrine, and the steak I could write symphonies for, same with the duck. Truly amazing thank you Reg and Tin! :)
L. W.
Love this. Perfect date night spot from the wine list, amazing food and delightful staff. Definitely will be revisiting.
N. P.
Lovely French bistro in the heart of Oxford. I had escargots and a pigeon for starters. I ordered some puff dough stuffed with mushrooms, which was very dry and not as good as the starters. This is the reason why I will give 4 stars. The staff was polite but a little bit in a hurry and inattentive not bringing a new set of cutlery after serving each next meal. Overall, it was a good experience.
R. R.
Never thought that I could try this fantastic French restaurant in England. We order 2 courses and 3 courses with champagne, every course was amazing! Excellent service. I wish I could try every cuisine. Maybe next time.
A. B.
Had a lovely meal here. Service was quick! Food was delicious. Had moules and steak frites which was cooked perfectly.
S. B.
Good food, very busy - if going at anything like peak times (we were squeezed in at 1800 on a Tuesday night!) You will definitely need to book! Service great too.
M.
Pricey and small portions. I’ll be honest and say that it was very delicious but it was not filling at all. I do love that it is a privately owned family business and that they got lovely decor and atmosphere, but our server was not very accommodating and service was quite slow. it would be a great spot for a light meal, though!
A. B.
Just incredible French food. Visited three times now and went for NYE and had such a great time. Beautifully decorated restaurant, fantastic menu and good prices. My favourite thing is they offer half bottles of decent wine too! Absolutely a must visit for no shortcuts French dining.
A. E.
Had a ladies evening, visited for the first time Pierre Victoire, I have to say it is a lovely restaurant, I just felt is a little too squished regarding of how many tables they are next to each other and the toilet facilities are right at the bottom through the kitchen area.
The service was a bit poor I could say it was too busy for the waiters and they got confused with all the food order coming out first, after we got our drinks.
The food on the other hand was absolutely great, I ordered medium-rare steak and it was just perfect❤️ the sos was amazing, I would've prefer a bit more sauce as when you got at the half of the meal, the sauce was already finished.
Overall experience was good and I will definitely visit again for the food.
G. C.
Delicious and very reasonably priced food, cosy atmosphere. We had a lovely lunch there with starter, mains, and dessert. The place was full and understandably so!
P. T.
We arrived on the dot of 6pm as it opened . It was good that we had booked in advance as it was sold out to 9.30. We were shown directly to our table by a charming manager and service throughout the evening was excellent. The food was delicious and much was typically French.
A very pleasant evening.
M. A.
Good variety on the menu all food sourced locally. Fair price and a good wine menu. Excellent service from friendly staff. Customer toilets were clean but lots of stairs to get to them.
M. B.
We went there for the Christmas meal and were really happy with the Christmas menu. Food was really nice, I loved the duck and it was served exactly how it should be. The place has a really nice interior and each meal we had visually looked just amazing. However we found the staff to be a bit rude, anyway it didn’t ruin our night as the food was brilliant. And also for such a good quality food the price was very good.
N. A.
The best French restaurant in Oxford..there are so many varieties. Highly recommend
V. F.
Had a wonderful experience on Thursday, we had the lunchtime menu. Wonderful food, excellent value and the staff were lovely and could not do enough for us. We will be back in November
d. V.
One of the best scallops that I've eat! :) Great atmosphere, music and design. Very friendly and welcoming stuff and the food! OMG - the food is definetely worth to try! All dishes that we ordered were just perfect as they should be. Thank You and defo we come bacK!
p. a.
We always had great experience there and have recommended it to many friends. But during our visit today, it was a lot noisy from clattering of plates and cutlery being put away for washing I guess( we were seated upstairs and it was a bit distracting as it was happening frequently). The pork belly I ordered from the set menu was also a bit hard even with steak knife (sauce was delicious). Easily understandable that they could get busy during festive times, but would always remain as one of the best in town if they could mind few little things like that, thanks.
m. w.
On vas dire? Parfait! Super! Magnifique! Really good French dishes, good variety of side dishes, and they are nice enough to provide gluten free things! Highly recommended!
R. K.
The flavour and freshness of the food is fantastic! I'd recommend you ask to be seated away from the phone, it's always ringing (a good sign) but it's just a bit irritating if your sitting near it as it is rather loud.
G. B.
Excellent food, excellent service excellent value for money. Set meal, set price. Book ahead you'll not regret it.
W. T.
Lovely place to eat, excellent food. We all enjoyed our chosen dishes.
L. D.
Went to Pierre Victoire for a birthday. Was lovely. Food was stunning, service was good, attentive staff. Atmosphere is a bonus, great vibe going on.
I had the mussels for a main, glorious. Other thing I would say which is it’s quite spenny, main varies from £14 to £30?
But food is delicious, so paying for what you are getting.
Would recommend. And will be returning.
T. B.
Uncategorically my favourite restaurant. My wife and I got married in Oxford just so that our reception dinner could be here. They've come through the pandemic with a brilliant menu, and can't be recommended enough.
J. H.
Pierre Victoire is a comfortable and nice place to go. The food is good quality. Also the different levels where the tables are laid makes the ambiance cozy. I did like the Gavi Suavignon blanc wine, it accompanied the meal well.
A. R.
The food was excellent as before which was why I chose this place for a special meal for my American family friends. However the service was unprofessional by waiter (2) he was unfriendly and abrupt. He spoilt a special occasion.
M. P.
Top end food in a lovely setting, sensible prices unless you go mad on the drinks.most enjoyable and highly recommended
a. t.
Great food and good value for price
D. J.
Over time has become a 'go to' location that serves good bistro food at unremarkable prices. Went as a four and with wine and gratuity £170 all in was good value 👍
P. M.
Lovely food and service, good value lunch menu, we had roast dinner as we visit on Sunday and it was perfect.
D. S.
All dishes were fantastic with my wife and I both thinking we had ordered the better meal. Would go again in a heartbeat.
A. G.
Recently held a wonderful civil ceremony dinner here. We have loved coming back to Pierre Victoire for over ten years and will continue to do so!
j. c.
Fantastic all round, great staff excellent food, fantastic service lovely place perfect atmosphere would highly recommend to anyone
M. C.
Nice cosy and value for money. Food rating scores the highest. We only tried the 2 course set. We lapped it all up. Staff is superb, cheerful. The next day we returned again and tried different orders. Needless to say... great yet affordable French Fare for the masses. An equally cheerful waiter softened hardened hearts.
N. M.
A bistrot serving good food at reasonable prices with friendly service. The variety of the menu is decent. I recommend the terrine, the duck and the chocolate and bitter orange tart.
C. P.
Great restaurant. Good value, food delicious and fab service.
P. S.
We all loved it. Excellent food and service with normal prices. The best restaurant we visited in Oxford.
R. S.
The food and atmosphere here is always excellent, with great staff too. Feels very authentic, and I always choose to come back here with friends and family whenever in Oxford as it's such great value for such high-class food. Came for xmas dinner with friends, unforutnately we had several dropouts in the group due to illness however PV were understanding.
S. W.
Wonderful food great service definitely visit again
R. E.
What a wonderful restaurant, such fantastic food in a homely, relaxed setting!
P. K.
My favourite Bistro in Oxford - have been going to Pierre Victoire for 14 years or so now. Always love bringing visitors to the city here as it's consistently a great experience all-round. Also lovely for a meal out with a partner for a very reasonable price with the set menu style menu for the quality of the food and service. In comparison to chain options in a similar style for example.Definitely recommend!
V. C. U.
Fantastic. I'm so glad I stopped by, but with a 100% match on Google Maps I had to check it out. Amazing food, cozy interior, and great service. Merci à tous :)
H. H.
Excellent French food, great customer service.
Z. K.
Beautifully tasty, great quality food. Lovely atmosphere and attentive staff
G. K.
AMAZING!! 2 Three course meals including rib-eye steaks for under £50. Great, friendly service
M. F.
Great family run restaurant. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. Would recommend booking ahead as it can be very busy. The food is excellent traditional French food. There us a good drinks selection also to accompany your meal. Would highly recommend and will return soon

Recently: 2nd visit. The food was good.
Last year: Nice taste but the duck was a bit dry
A. H.
Lovely restaurant and nice food, the staff are also polite. Unfortunately my chicken was pink in the middle and had to send it back to the kitchen and it came out again and still looked pink to me, didn’t feel comfortable eating it at all so I ordered a different main. However the staff were very polite about it, I felt awful having to send it back twice but she completely understood where I was coming from. Good value for money too, a concern of mine was how quick the food was coming out of the kitchen, especially considering mine wasn’t cooked properly. Also the staff really run around the place and sprint down the stairs which was quite distracting. I would definitely go back though as the food was lovely once I got the right thing.
N. B.
A busy place. Wonderful food. Staff so helpful and rushing around. Definitely I will go back there.
P. B.
Gosh where to begin. This evening I was taken to my friend Sarah's favourite UK restaurant for the first time. Sarah has been coming here since they opened in 1996. It is superb. Great food, generous portions, a very good wine list and all at French bistro prices. Charming attentive French waitresses who are incredibly hard working. Will definitely be back. They best French food I have had in the UK.
S. T.
Always a pleasure eating here. The quality of food is consistent, staff is friendly and knows what they are doing. Reasonably priced, and homely atmosphere.

Fantastic meal whilst on a weekend break in Oxford. The previous day it was my birthday and we couldn't get anywhere nice to eat as we hadn't booked . Ended up in a coffee chain! We found this delightful bistro by chance and didn't expect to get in. But what a surprise we did and the food and price was amazing. Back home in Scotland my husband said it was one of the highlights of the whole trip! Staff were so polite and wish we could have lingered longer as it was so nice but we were going to a church service. Keep up the good work all of you and we would highly recommend.
e. g.
Excellent steak frites just like in France. Very authentic. However, good luck for booking a table. They either don't answer the phone or tell you to phone at another time when they don't pick up. Online booking would have made the experience so much better.
s. w.
Having only an hour to spare pre theatre and really longing to try this restaurant, as noticed it on previous Oxford trips, I tried my luck. Fully booked and just under and hour until next booking arrived... Perfect timing on this occasion! Very thankful that I was accomodated.
Staff... Wonderful!! Sevice was prompt, pleasant and professional.
Atmosphere was enjoyable and the food...
Definitely worth returning for! Well presented, highly palatable and without a doubt, recommendable!
Also, I'd say that the food is decently priced.
Shall definitely return.
T. C.
We ate here on a busy Friday night but there was a lovely tranquil atmosphere even though the restaurant was full. Tables were well spaced and there was a sense of privacy. It’s family run and friendly. The starters were superb (cheese soufflé and pigeon) and the mains were great too (particularly the duck, with some some superb caramelised rosti). Followed by a shared crème brûlée to finish a lovely evening. Along with a nice bottle of Cotes du Rhone, this came in a smidge under £90 for two people. Thoroughly recommended.
A. R.
We love Pierre Victoire, it’s exactly the sort of place we look for when visiting other cities. A lovely, simple family run bistro with excellent food, reasonable prices. The set menu and the house wine are just as good as you’d hope from a place like this. It’s not far from the Oxford Playhouse or the New Theatre and they have a pre-theatre set menu too.
G. D.
Not the best service. It took a while to be noticed and to be served. I guess they were understaffed. I was hoping the food will be better, however it wasn’t anything special and when I gave a friendly suggestion the waitress was rather annoyed - not professional.
A. B.
Really relaxed and beautiful food. Prompt service and friendly staff. Good value.
N. G.
This is an excellent restaurant. Over 25 years in the making, this place nails that quintessential French vibe - the food, the atmosphere and the service. We opted for three courses and everything we had we enjoyed. Scallops, moules, duck, creme brûlée - name a classic French dish - we had it. We also enjoyed a lovely bottle of Viognier and some fizz too. Everything is very reasonably priced and so we felt represented great value for money. 10/10, highly recommended.
C. R.
Lovely restaurant. Super food, great service, charming atmosphere.
S. P.
Really really superb. Sometimes people (including myself) give out 5 star reviews to be nice. Places like Pierre Victoire make me wish I didn't. This is a place that really deserves its 5 star rating. I was there last night with my partner and we had a superb time. Everything was absolutely flawless. Service was first rate, COVID protections were impressive, wine very good too and prices are reasonable.
The real highlight is the food, though. We had the salad and the souffle to start -- the souffle was a real star, very nicely balanced flavours, super compote with it and wonderfully light. Best in class. Mains were the steak frites (everything about that was tremendous) and the bouillabaisse which was also bang on the money. Dessert we both went for creme brulee which was also just as it should be.
You won't do better than this in Oxford, it comes extremely highly recommended. Can't speak highly enough of our experience with these guys yesterday evening.
R.
fantastic place! very delicious food. We love the snails!
R. M. U.
the taste is outstanding will go and enjoy the meal
A. R.
Amazing, authentic french food. I especially recommend the chicken liver parfait and the pork loin main. The best meal of our staycation so far!
The staff are all lovely - our waiter was so friendly and genuine.
M. D.
Delicious French cuisine.
Family run restaurant.
B. E.
consistently good food. reasonably priced 2 or 3 course lunch menu. Good French cuisine. friendly and accommodating staff. best to book of possible.
January 2022. Another amazing lunch. Been away too long - P.V currently only open at lunchtimes on a Sat and Sun. . Menu as good as ever. Excellent beetroot and roast chestnut risotto. Service and wine was good. A bare floors, bare wooden table, simple and straightforward French restaurant. consistently good quality. Lack of soft furnishings can mean loud conversations reverberate and if there's a big crowd in then it can be a bit noisy.
J. D.
Great meal and service at a very reasonable price
J.
Very nice food and service. Unfortunately we was charged for three courses not two. We realised this after we had left the restaurant and had to return for a refund, mistakes happen. We will definitely return on our next visit to Oxford.
D.
Good quality at a reasonable price, but the escargot had a very strong herb taste (rosemary?) That was very overwhelming and had to be wiped off the meat. Possibly just a one off though, and the salmon was cooked perfectly.
S. W.
The food is really good there!
A. L.
Excellent reasonably priced restaurant. Busy when we went but service was good. Good range of wines. Food was great - and good choices available. Will return.
I. S.
One of Oxford‘s best restaurants! Fresh french food, prepared with love. We use to have the multi-course dinner - always a good choice. Great team, so at each time we are in Oxford, we have to go to Pierre Victoire. 💛
K. S.
We tried Christmas dinner. It was very delicious. Also, good service and atmosphere. I will be back soon.
M. K.
Very good restaurant. Typical French and Belgian food and fair price
M. N.
We have been to the Pierre Victoire in London a couple of times before..just as usual excellent food and service!

Very very good French restaurant. I had escargot for the first time and it was delicious I will definitely be having again. The mains were very generously portioned and tasted amazing and the drinks were well sourced. The service was really good too. And the desserts were a delight
B. H.
Incredible - my favourite restaurant in Oxford probably and I love so many!
Chocolate Fondue a particular highlight but just such good heart warming authentically French vibes ☺️
K. O.
I am so pleased this place is back! One of those days when you just have to have snails: only one place to go! The food is great, the atmosphere was sunny. I love treating myself here.
h. c.
Pretty duck leg! Must do reservation. One of the best restaurants in Oxford
L. M.
Lovely little quaint restaurant with a great choice of authentic french food, i had to try the monkfish main and It was the nicest dish I've had all year. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone living or stopping by in Oxford.
R. H.
The food was absolutely brilliant and the atmosphere fantastic as well. Will definitely come back in the future!
A. S.
Amazing atmosphere and food
Feel like been in France for a moment
D. L.
Great restaurant, lovely atmosphere - set menu well priced for Oxford, especially for lunch time. Staff wonderful and friendly.
C. H.
Good quality french cooking with a good choice of wines. The restaurant has a cosy atmosphere with friendly staff. One of our favourite restaurants to go to.
S. J. M.
Pierre Victoire is your place to go to for excellent date night, family visiting town, catch up with friends, birthday dinners for 20 people or just 2. Lunch and dinner, PV have always presented excellent meals with consist quality and wonderful value. Chiken liver pate, duck confit, apple tartin... It's heaven. (They also have delicious vegetarian options). If you have one night to spend in the city, eating here would be a very wise choice. Reservation recommended on busy days.
B. W.
Overall it was good quality/value and the service was great too. The main courses (duck and mussels) were excellent and deserve a 5 star rating. The fried calamari starter was also very good. I would say that you need to work on the other starters (fried brie and celeriac bruschetta) a bit more to bring them up to the same level.
T. B.
Nice unassuming restaurant, and the food was very good. I can only hope that staff shortage (COVID consequences) might in part explain the poor service. Very inattentive, although as a table for two it was noticeable that the larger tables were receiving far better service. First time I have not paid a service charge for many a year. Shame.
J. S.
The food quality is absolutely amazing - the moules marinieres and steak frites are my personal favourites. Very good wine selection, and the staff are incredibly polite, caring and know how to make the customer feel welcome. The set menu is reasonably priced as well.
A. G.
Good solid french food friendly staff and prompt service just a bit cramped and noisy hence the 4 not 5 stars. Chicken farci very good as were the sea bass and fillet steak. My own personal minor food quibble was the rather bizarre sweet element to the mushroom in pastry starter. But otherwise all dishes to a very competent standard for the price. Recommended but book early it gets very busy
G. R.
Fantastic family run restaurant it would be easy to walk past, but that would be a huge mistake.
We had the fixed price lunch menu on a Saturday. Very busy, so I'd recommend booking in advance. Great value, wonderful food, and polite, efficient service. Highly recommended.
T. P.
One of the delights of Oxford - excellent, varied, and delicious French food and friendly staff. Always busy too (from what I've seen) and generally good for small groups (2-4), although I'm sure they do bigger ones.
Still going during COVID / lockdown so do support as we need these sorts of restaurants to continue and flourish!
M. G.
Amazing modern yet authentic French food. When the queue is out of the door and down the road, you know it's worth the effort. The soufflé was perfect, the confit duck tender and the apple tarte tatin rounded things off oh so nicely.
P. L.
Excellent meal, really liked the Merlot too!
R.
The soufflé was great but my ribeye steak was the fattiest I’ve ever had which was a bit disappointing. My partner got the filet which seemed much better quality so would recommend getting that instead. Service was great
P. H.
Pierre Victoire is still a favourite haunt of mine and highly recommended. It manages to capture the atmosphere of a French Bistro, serving lovely food, and wine, at a reasonable price. So, do drop in if you are in that part of Oxforc
C. H.
Must say I was a bit underwhelmed by my visit here. Firstly we arrived and stood waiting at the door for a good 5 mins before anyone acknowledged us. Having made a reservation, we were then shown a table right next to the door. We asked if there was a table elsewhere and eventually they found us a better table upstairs. We were given menus but no winelist which we had to request as we were ordering our food. We then had to wait for someone to return to take our drinks order. Starters arrived and the waiter was about to walk away when I pointed out that we had no cutlery. Nor had we received any of the complimentary bread. Our drinks still hadn't arrived. I flagged down a waitress attending another table and asked if we could have our drinks, she replied " have you ordered them?" This was all a bit farcical to say the least. Granted, they were busy and fortunately the food was good. But sloppy service really let the place down
S. L.
One of my favourite restaurants in Oxford. We went again on Saturday. The food and service is always consistently brilliant.
I nearly always have the chicken liver parfait - it is so creamy and delicious. My husband has the moules as a regular favourite choice. And we always order extra french bread - it is just too fresh to be able to resist.
I had the fillet steak for my main with the leek fondue. The steak is always faultless in how it is cooked. My husband had the cassoulet which was generous and filling.
The wine menu has a great selection and is reasonably priced.
Keep up the good work PV - you have a wonderful team who make the visit welcoming, friendly and delicious every time.
K. L.
Great french food. They have duck & rabbit and many more delicious things. 4 stars because they could be a bit more friendly. Once I've reserved there and we showed up 7 minutes after the reserved time. I thought already we were late, but our table was not even prepared. So we've waited at the entrance and at some point we understood that we should go upstairs and that our table is ready. However, that was somehow a mistake, maybe we've understood it wrong and the table was not ready at that time. Our waitress got super pissed and I excused myself. We went downstairs again and waited another time until after a few minutes our table was ready. I've felt that the whole treatment was a bit too rude for a restaurant that tries to have by itself very high standards. Still, it is worth to go there because of the food.
A. K.
This is truly the best French restaurant in Oxford. The service, food and ambience are fabulous. There was this feeling of comfort when I stepped in till I stepped out. I also had a brief but nice chat with the waitress. Overall, superb restaurant with superb everything!
G. Y. H.
Delicious french bistro meals with reasonable price. Had a great lunch
T. w.
Great intimate atmosphere. I come her regularly and the service and food quality is consistently high for the most part. Should be noted that the escargot is particularly plain and not as tasty as it should be. Otherwise the food is good.
S. E.
Lovely medium-sized French restaurant with good set menus - £25 for three courses or £12.50 for two courses (only between 6-7pm). The food is excellent, and lovely atmosphere, particularly if you ask for a quieter table upstairs. Great date spot.
J. H.
Rated 14 by Tripadvisor we have no doubt to dispute this fact. We booked for an early evening meal and were surprised that within 5 minutes of opening the tables were already busy. A really nice greeting set the tone for a wonderful meal. The ambiance was just perfect and service was neither rushed or laboured. The menu although not large had just the right amount of choices and was very reasonably priced. A must visit restaurant if you are in Oxford.
m. d.
Lovely French restaurant and lamb that fell off the bone.
K. H.
I ate here for the first time as part of a large group. The atmosphere was lovely - it was a very busy Thursday night and we were seated on the top floor of the restaurant. We pre ordered our food but still waited some time for the food to come out.
We had a three course meal, I choose muscles as my main course and they were delicious, the portion was very generous and I couldn't finish it, in fact all 3 courses were generous in size and well worth the money. I did think that drinks were a little on the expensive side (I asked for sparkling water and wasn't given a choice re size so was a little surprised when a large bottle was presented to me so I will remember next time!).
I do definitely visit again and think it would be a nice place to come for a couple as well as part of a large group.
D. W.
Food is always good and staff extremely helpful
C. J.
Love this restaurant, easily the best in Oxford. Independent too. Love their (very affordable and delicious) lunches, and also dinners as an occasional treat. A friend who regularly travels to France said it rivalled what she could get in Paris, which is a plus.
Lunch is very affordable and the staff are very friendly and accommodating.
O. H.
An incredible gastronomic experience. I've been here a number of times now, and every time I am amazed by how delicious every single dish is. Possibly some of the best food you will ever taste. An absolute must-visit for anyone in Oxford. Would recommend the lunch set-menu for an excellent price.
R. B.
Amazing food as always! Our go to restaurant in Oxford for all special occasions!
Great food and lovely staff, already looking forward to ou're next visit.
O. D. C.
Absolutely delicious food. And great atmosphere. Definitely recommended. From their lovely staff to the hospitality. You definitely have the right idea when it comes to wishing people a lovely night out.
S. C.
Amazing food. A lovely little find
B. T.
We have been coming to PV for ~20 years. We took my parents here for their first restaurant meal since the lockdown tonight. The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Claire was delightful, welcoming and reassuring. She made every effort to make everyone feel safe and relaxed. The food was delicious! Thank you.
M. W.
Very cosy French restaurant in the heart of Oxford. I went there with a lady friend, and we both loved the food and the ambience. It has a "mom and pop" sort of family-business feel. Highly recommended.
N. B.
One of my favourite restaurants in Oxford. You need to book as its always busy. As its busy and quite crowded it can be noisy. Food in general is excellent and portions good. Mussell starter good, can also be had as main course. House red really good to my taste and not too ridiculously priced!
P. G.
I have been avoiding this review for a long time, PV has been a main stay for me for 10-15 years. The food is amazing especially at the price. But this visit was tainted with a misunderstanding. After a bad start the manager rectified everything so much so that I left a £30 tip. If ever a bad situation was rectified it was here. We left extremely satisfied. The trouble started the next day when we heard that we had caused a ruckus, now we are bitter and will avoid this place as we feel now unwelcome. Real shame as this is a gem of a place, where the food is completely authentic. Will miss you guys. Sorry
M. S.
Great food in rustic and relaxed setting
T. L.
I have returned here time and time again over many years. In my opinion, it is the best value for money restaurant in Oxford. The menu is full of quality choices and most evenings allows for 3 courses for about £24. The quaint venue is usually full of life in the evenings and booking in advance is recommended. To top it off, the staff are consistently friendly and welcoming. I have never been disappointed and will certainly be back for more of the same.
D. A.
Always have had delicious food here at a reasonable price. A very popular restaurant so booking advisable.
C. W.
Brilliant.
Absolutely loved it.
Will be visiting again, very soon
M. H.
Fantastic. One of the nicest French meals I have ever had. Cooked perfect and with style
v. s.
Would highly recommend as the food was amazing
T. P.
Probably the best restaurant we found after a year in Oxford.
The lunch menu was impressive. We had modules frit, escargot, duck confit, fried calamari and children's menu. All for under £50. Great quality. Food came quickly.
Would come back again and recommend to everyone we know.
n. p.
Simply delicious, home made fresh and flavoursome Sunday 3 course menu. Will definitely go back!
A. A. J.
I am a regular at Pierre....and have held back on writing a review until now. On a consistent level I find the food nicely presented and very good and reasonably priced... In terms of atmosphere, in the evening it can be very noisy, however I don't hold that against them...I mention it for the purpose of information only. In my experience I have found the service in the evening's, consistantly terse, indifferent and sullen.
I suspect that because it is always busy they possibly feel they don't have to try too hard. I do think it is a shame, because as mentioned before...the food is very good. So for me...a 5 out of 5 for the food...a 2 out of 5 for the poor service.
M. O.
Great food, well presented, good choice of affordable wine, nice ambiance. Will certainly come here again.
d. m.
Amazing food, delicious house red and lovely staff. Prices at lunch time are an affordable treat - only problem is you have to go back to work afterward :-) I am never disappointed. The boeuf bourguignon is the best anywhere - wish it would be on the menu permanently.
Best wishes, Denise
S. R.
Amazing food and a great atmosphere. Staff very attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to try something a little different
J. M.
Lovely steak, small cosy restaurant.
C. S.
Had a lovely meal this afternoon. All the food was perfect and the staff friendly and welcoming. Couldn't ask for more.
N.
Food is OK, but the service makes it quite an unpleasant experience. We phoned hundreds of times to get a reservation, and until we arrived were we told that we had to finish in 2 hours because some others had booked our table. Then during the whole process we were urged to be quick in ordering, eating and paying.
C. W.
This has become a regular rendezvous for a quarterly catch up with a few friends for years now and it never disappoints. Lovely ambience, friendly staff, great food at a reasonable price. Despite being busy we've never been hurried to finish. So many eating places in Oxford but we always return to Pierre Victoire 😁
R. B.
Exactly what you'd expect from a place called like that. Friendly staff, nice waiters, amazing food. The pasta I had was one of the best dishes I've ever had across all the places we've been through. The atmosphere is nice and warm.
r. y.
Always make a trip for the excellent cuisine when I'm in Oxford, one of the independents who stick to a class of their own and still charge reasonable prices. Nice place to take a date. Very busy even on a Monday night. Make sure you book in advance, it will ALWAYS be full!!!
Y. H.
fantastic desserts, we tried the pear. good service. Enjoy the atmosphere
r. d.
this place is nice. even the bread is good
S. S.
I had escargot and unfortunately some of them tasted like dirt. The ones that didn't were delicious though. The creme brulee was so good! The server was a little rude at first, kind of rolling her eyes at us... Maybe because our group ended up being a couple people smaller than we originally had reserved for. She also got annoyed at those of us who only ordered starters instead of mains. She was a lot nicer at the end though. Still, not a super great experience.
S. C.
Found this quaint little place by chance and quite honestly couldn't believe how perfect it was. 2 adults and 2 kids under 4 and they couldn't have been more accommodating. The service was non intrusive which allowed us to spend the quality time together that we wanted but also it was attentive enough that all our needs were met. The food was great and the kids even tried some different things. The menu on the whole was well versed without being over whelming and im sure anyone could find something to satisfy their pallet. Hopefully will be going back next week.
K. N.
This is a wonderful French restaurant that really captures the Bistro feel very well. The food is great - nothing too fussy, everything done just right. The service is friendly and efficient, with makes for a great ambience. Definitely one of my favourite restaurants in Oxford, especially nice on for a lazy sunday lunch. I would recommend booking as I have found it tends to be very busy most evenings (and lunch on weekends) and difficult to get a walk in table.
A. L.
We loved this brilliant independent restaurant. The food, service and atmosphere was great. Will definitely come back when we come back to Oxford.
A.
Visited in October 2019 with next door neighbours, the men had the £27ish prix fixe and the ladies the £12ish prix fixe. All was very good.
This update is being made after three recent festive meals, (two pre-Christmas and NYE itself) with various groups of friends. On each occasion we were shown to our table by friendly efficient staff, who produced menus and drinks soon after arrival. After ordering, delicious and attractive dishes were brought promptly, and were enjoyed by all. Where a small issue arose, it was dealt with most satisfactorily, without fuss. On each occasion, the restaurant was full, nonetheless the atmosphere was intimate and cosy. The service, in such circumstances, was very impressive, and the food was ever so good - my mouth is watering as I remember it. Extremely good value and highly recommended.
O. B.
Fantastic restaurant, one of my favourite places to eat in Oxford. The food is always prepared to an excellent standard with plenty of choice. The staff are also wonderful. It is very popular so you really need to book ahead for lunch or dinner.
M. K.
I went here with a big after term group. The cheese souffle was amazing. I had the chicken, but got to try several plates. If I were to pick again, I'd do the vegetarian risotto. It was delicious. I also heard great things about the mussels from my friends. The deserts were all good, but the creme brulee was the best one I tried.
I also felt like the venue didn't have great accoustics, compared to our numbers. I wish I could have heard everyone a little better.
I'd definitely go back, but I'd take a smaller group next time.
T. H.
We went during lunchtime and it was definitely not what we expected. The food is good but the service was atrocious! Such a pity!
The place is nice even if it is quite loud. Unfortunately, the service was tremendously bad. We only saw our waiter while bringing the food and it seemed as if he was not interested (on top of being rude).
Among different little situations and details is the fact that our waiter did not even want to bring us dessert because, according to him, there was not enough time until we needed to vacay the table 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️. However, there was plenty of it and we even had to call the manager.
Sadly never again!
A. T.
Excellent food and excellent service! I tried the restaurant in London and loved it and the one on Oxford just as good if not better. The prices are so affordable for what you get, I definitely recommend and I'll go back again and again!
a.
Best French restaurant in Oxford excellent food with great smiling waitresses.
D. B.
Amazing proper authentic French restaurant. Food and hospitality was amazing. Independent and family run restaurant that put love and passion into their business. Thank you for a lovely evening.
A. H.
I booked a table for dinner for me and my girlfriend and both of us thought all three courses were brilliant. The service was quick but not rushed and the atmosphere was nice and cosy which is something you only get with smaller independent restaurants such as this one. I would highly recommend this place for a couple or a small group.
S. G.
Lovely dinner, good service and great allergy awareness (one of us needs gluten free and another dairy free).
Y. U.
Excellent restaurant, great food and service.
J. J.
We had a fantastic food and excellent service here, thank you guys so much keep the good spirit and good things will come for you...
T. S.
Wonderful evening for my wife's birthday. Cosy, romantic atmosphere with helpful, attentive and friendly staff. Food was fantastic especially the monkfish and scallops.
E. W.
Absolutely excellent food, really quick as well, which was useful as we were going to the theatre. They do a special theatre menu too!! Charismatic and attentive staff made it very pleasant. Very competitive pricing - Highly recommend.
C. A.
Amazing food, fresh, well cooked, beautiful atmosphere, reservation needed, medium prices.
L. S.
The service was brilliant, lovely ambiance, and the food was incredibly delicious. We has the 2 course prix fixe lunch menu - pâté and steak haché for me, taboulé au saumon and confit de canard for my dining companion, and everything arrived promptly and was beautifully presented. I was so eager to tuck in I forgot to take photographs! Would definitely recommend and will be going back.
B. K.
Great to be able to dine out again, made perfect by the great food and attentive service. French food in a rustic setting.
S. M.
Probably my favourite restaurant in Oxford, for all round service, quality and experience. 'Traditional' French service with smart knowledgable staff, pleasant decor, lighting, the works. Menu isn't massive but the food is delicious, great wine and drinks choice. Look out for offers, especially early evening / pre theatre. Quite small and can get very busy, which won't suit some, but always delivers a great experience. Well located near to pubs, cocktail bars anda short walk to the city centre.
C. B.
Another great visit. Quick service, £19 for 3 courses, large number of imaginative dish options including vegetarian, really delicious food beautifully presented, friendly efficient staff, nice decor etc. Busy restaurant of course as such a great place and we were a little packed in table wise, but still ok and makes for a great atmosphere! Well done and thank you Pierre Victoire!
A. D.
This restaurant is a real French restaurant and very affordable. I felt like I am in Paris. I added our foods' pictures. I loved them! I will definitely visit this restaurant and try their wine.
M. P.
I've been there a few times and to me it is the best restaurant in Oxford. Typically, with 25£ you have a great dinner with a starter, a main and a dessert. Wines are very good and the staff is kind. I suggest the duck (always delicious)
J. B.
Busy, slightly more crowded than we would have preferred, but the food was beyond excellent and the staff were helpful and friendly.
H. A.
Favourite Restaurant in Oxford: independent, cute, delicious
Pierre Victoire just has it all. The atmosphere is cute and very autentic. Most of the staff speak French and are really happy to chat to customers in French. The food is gloriously good and the mains are huge, so it's actually very good value.
The mussels especially are to die for but I would also highly recomment the sea bass and the escargots.
They have a big seasonal menu and a really nice selection of wines for very fair prizes.
I would really recommend this for couples or small groups of friends who want to have a long, good dinner in authentic French atmosphere!
H. K.
Summary: I was disappointed, yet the place is acceptable.
Went spontaneously on a Saturday since I was in the area and read the other (great) reviews. The place was busy and the staff was friendly. Champagne decent priced for the quality (6£ a glas, would have been the double in Sweden). The bread was horrible though, just ordinary white that you buy at the supermarket, and in my opinion a French restaurant should be able to do better.
Had the snails for starters - tasteless and boring.
Main was a tonight's special, on recommendation from the staff - lamb on the bone served with gravy, boils carrots and couscous mixed with a mint-tasting herb. The lamb was nicely done, tender and soft. Combined with the gravy it was a nice taste, yet nothing I'll remember in the morning. The couscous was however severely dry and the whole dish gave the impression of lacking something essential in terms of taste, yet I can not put my finger on it. Perhaps a crispy cold salad with some vinegar, in order to "break of" the heaviness of a nicely cooked lamb.
Chocolate fondant for desert - total disappointment. It laced the described creaminess inside, either due to containing too much flour or it had been baked for too long. Like I said, disappointment.
I did not complain though, why I cannot say. However, if I had I'm sure the friendly staff would have compensated me somehow, thus the 3 stars and not 2, which I believe would be too harsh.
However, my personal recommendation is to take your money elsewhere, since there are better places, french and other, for the same money, both in the area and in Oxford.
A. B.
I have been living in Oxford for 10 years, been in all restaurants in a 10 mile radius and this is definitely the best. Great and effective service even when full, amazing food, great wine menu (I had the champagne). Five star!
S. W.
Fantastic food, friendly staff, lovely ambiance, and not too expensive either!! Would highly recommend! :-)
R. J.
The food was both delicious and beautifully presented, the service was warm, kind, and impressively quick, despite the restaurant being shockingly busy during lunch. Would certainly recommend.
m. h.
We love this place, delicious traditional French cuisine in an unfussy atmosphere.
M. M.
Probably, no, definitely my favourite restaurant in Oxford. Delicious food, that’s reasonably priced and do have the house wine because it’s just as it’s supposed to be. Word of warning, you may want to check for a reservation beforehand
T. K. (.
Very affordable and delicious little place, the fried baits and parfait we got for appetizers were great, the risotto were awesome as well. The duck confit wasn't as impressive but still very enjoyable.
G. A.
Fantastic meal last night!
Food was amazing ...so tasty and reasonabley priced!
Very busy and great atmosphere.
Waiting staff very attentive and friendly.
Would throughly recommend this restaurant.
We were on a girls weekend and staying at The Randolph which was walking distance! 😁😁
All in all Perfect!
G. P.
Excellent value and quality. A little bit of France in Oxford...
A. P.
Food is superb, staff great. You can tell from the queue how good it is.
B. B.
Popular and good value French food and wine, offering set menus which are very useful with larger party groups. Also do 'Beef and Yorkshires' on Sunday! Relaxed atmosphere, more like a pub.
A. T.
Never fails to deliver superb food great staff lovely atmosphere.x see you again soon x
O. B.
Always our go-to place. (If not fully booked). Have lunch here. Have dinner here. It’s amazing.
R. R.
Very disappointed with my visit last night. My fries were way too salty and both my son and I commented that the peppercorn sauce should be in individual sauce jugs not smothered over the steak.,where you cannot choose how much you want.
A. B.
Always a wonderful experience and meal, the steak frite is a staple here and It’s always done to the best standard. The specials though are also always amazing! Highly recommend the house red wine!
A. S.
Great food with really good service. My wife and I tend to go here when we want to have a special, romantic night out. The tasting menu is an amazing way to have a great night out.
V. K.
I think this place is overrated. The food is not even close to be great. People think that big portions = good food. No this place if far from that. I tried once, I was not even close to be impressed, I got a very stale dessert that sums up my feeling towards the place and left. Would not try again. Not terrible but not great either.
C. b.
An amazing place. The set menu is beautiful. The wine is affordable. Great service. A must visit! Perfect romantic dinner.
D. L.
Really great food, as always. Well priced and with good service. It's always a winner.
L. I.
Excellent food, large enough choice to fit all tastes. All tastes fresh and expertly prepared. Attentive staff even in a rush. Book in advance as very busy on popular nights.
S. B.
Lovely place, last minute decision and kindly managed to get in for 1.15 hours. Lovely steak and frites and perfectly cooked duck breast.
This place is well respected for a reason.
D. K.
I went there twice, both times for lunch. The food is ok, tastes good, but doesn't blow my mind. PV is supposed to be one of the best (French) restaurants in Oxford. I find it a bit overrated, but would still recommend a visit.
M. L.
Excellent authentic french menu. A range of excellent, good value menus. Slick and friendly service. A great little find in Oxford. There was a queue out the door waiting for the restaurant to open.
D. P.
Real French Food in a French Ambience. Good food, good wine, good service at a moderate price. What more could one wish for. Avoids the chain restaurant sins of nearby locations. My favourite place to eat in Oxford.
R.
Thank you for a fabulous night.
Pierre Victoire effortlessly hosted 20 people for a birthday meal. The food was amazing, staff were friendly and nothing was a problem. A super place to eat in Oxford.
l. T.
what a great restaurant..service was brilliant eventhough the waiter tried to take my unfinished drink 😐 but the food was absolutely flawless. I would recommend this place but it might be best to book a table and we were lucky to get a table but there are extra seating downstairs...everyone needs to go here
A. D.
Delicious food & wine, romantic ambience, amazing staff & service. We felt very safe & really appreciated the hand sanitiser at our table.
J. L.
Fantastic restaurant. Food couldn't be any better and staff and owner very very friendly. Prices good also.
Highly recommended
J. O.
Squashed tables. Not an attractive place. Uncomfortable. Service quite good. Cheese souffle dry, hard and burnt. Didn't taste of cheese. Steak good, sea bass good. Quite pricey.
M. D.
This was our second visit and it was just as good as our first! Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing food! Highly recommended!!!

On saturday may 7th we travelled to London very early in the morning, after a Long day walking through London we were very tired and hungry ending up in this restaurant. Little did we know. The meal we ordered was delicious. Pleasant served. Fine athmosphere.
R. F.
Delicious unfussy French cuisine in authentic rustic French bistro surroundings. Excellent service, and very reasonable prices. One of my favourite restaurants in Oxford!
A. T.
The food and service was great. The atmosphere was very nice. A nice place to enjoy a well cooked meal
J. T.
A very enjoyable meal yet again at Pierre Victoire Oxford for my wife's birthday. At 8pm on a Friday the restaurant was more or less full, however service was courteous and appropriately swift. The menu Prix Fixe was keenly priced at £25 pp. The food was authentically French, my only slight criticism being the Confit du Canard was perhaps a touch over cooked, as was the potato rosti. That said, these are minor points, and Pierre Victoire is well worth the money. Definitely visit this place for a taste of France..
B. J.
Fantastic restaurant, with a homely atmosphere, great food and superb service. Genuinely feels spookily like being in France. The food is priced very fairly, and is delicious. Can't fault it.
R. H.
Been here a few times now and they always manage to squeeze us in and I always have a great meal. Simple french food done well in relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff.
E.
Lovely meal and great value with the set menu. Friendly staff, would certainly visit again.
M. R.
Pierre Victoire is a reliable, friendly place which serves inexpensive but tasty French food. The simply décor inside complements the classic dishes nicely. There might not be anything that blows your mind, but with 2 courses at lunchtime for £11 it's certainly worth a visit.
L. M.
Turned up at 1pm, looking forward to lunch and ourselves and two other guys very disappointed to see it closed. So it looked lovely but need to update opening times!
U. V.
Really enjoyed our meal here as a group. We shared a fondue and a meat dish and paid 10 pounds each (no alcohol). Recommended!
A. S.
Fantastic food and brilliant service
G. M.
Try to get a table this tells you all you need to know!
s. v.
I love this place! The food is great, the staff are friendly and it has a really relaxed vibe. The restaurants ground floor is small enough to feel very cosy and intimate without being too cramped.
S. K.
Amazing food, wonderful atmosphere and incredibly passionate and helpful staff. Excellent provisions for gluten free diners too. Cannot say enough good things about the restaurant

Awesome french restaurant. I have tried it four years ago for the first time and I keep coming back to it every time I visit Oxford. All dishes I tried are extremely delicious. Staff is courteous. I highly recommend it.
M. M.
Always friendly and efficient with great genuine French food with amazing prices for Oxford. We were in a rush to get to the theatre and they were very helpful at the end in getting us off in time.
T. R.
Cute little restaurant tucked away on Little Clarendon. The food was very nice. Waiting staff were a little rushed, and our table of two was used for training new staff throughout the meal (without being asked first)
S. G.
Very friendly and nice place. Food good but not astounding. Don't sit next to the door if it's cold. The door is very elegant but it opens very wide and let's in a howl of icy air.

For me The best Restaurant on Oxford. Meals always freshly prepared- not reheated!. Authentic Staff. Never been disappointed .
Been dining there on and off for twenty odd years...Enough said.
E. E.
Great fixed price menu - amazing value. On our last visit (a Saturday evening), only the a la carte menu is available - a bit more pricey, but fantastic food at a reasonable price. Magret de canard was superb.
M. D.
Food was amazing! Staff were fabuluos, attentive, but not in your face, My only criticism would be the other customers who were loud and hellbent on making sure everyone could hear their conversations.
B. R.
We’re so Fondue of you its bordering on love. Cheese fondue with garlic potatoes, mussels in garlic and white wine sauce, Creme brûlée perfectly smooth. Thank you Pierre for the Victoire.
M. H.
Staff were friendly, food was served timely and tasted delicious. Also the presentation was on point.
Really loved the atmosphere, so rustic and welcoming.

Top restaurant in Oxford
We were in Oxford two nights and we usually go to the two top restaurants for dinners.
However, this time we started and finished our trip by going to Pierre Victoire twice!
Tina was an excellent server who knew exactly what to recommend as far as food and wine. Don't miss it when in Oxford.
R. S. B.
Nice little authentic French food restaurant. Great atmosphere and service. I’d only wish they did more vegetarian dishes.
M. L.
Fantastic little family run French restaurant in Oxford. I loved it. Simple as that. Not much more I can say except that I'll definitely be back when next in town. Congratulations one and all! 😊
E. H.
I love going to Pierre Victoire, definitely one of my favourite places to eat in Oxford. The food is delicious, the welcome is very friendly and if you are looking for a pre-theatre menu the value is incredible.

Good food, quantity just right for a lunch on the prix fixèe. Was very busy and noisy, with low lighting which was too low for me to read the menu easily.
J. H.
This is a great restaurant for food, atmosphere and staff! Menu was diverse and everything we ordered was absolutely awesome, couldn't recommend more highly
D. J.
Oxford's top restaurant. Don't go anywhere else, 90% of Oxford is populated by sad/bland chains. This is one of the leading lights. I have been going nonstop for a decade.

Excellent food! Bread on tap :p The only downside would be the small portions, but as you pay more for things in life, they generally become smaller :/ :p
