Reviews of The Ivy Oxford Brasserie
I. M.
Fabulous experience as one would expect at The Ivy.
From the time you walk in, the staff are super friendly. Coat service works like a charm. Waiters are briefed before time on your reservation and any special requests.
We celebrated my wife’s birthday and they gave us a complimentary birthday dessert which was a lovely touch.
We requested a quiet corner table for our special evening and they accommodated us.
We had seafood dishes and they were all great, so compliments to the chef.
The chocolate bomb dessert was definitely the best part of the evening and I’ll be back just for that.
Keep up the great quality and service 👌
A. S.
Absolutely amazing! The best and most professional staff I ever encountered. Considering amazing taste and appearance of food, stuff and look of the restaurant - it’s not even close to being pricy, worth every penny! Definitely I will come back :)
R. S.
First time at the ivy and it was a great experience at the Oxford branch, started off with some cocktails and then had some wine with food. The food was awesome and the pictures speak for themselves. Would definitely return for more.
D. V.
Came for afternoon tea and the place was magical! Staff were lovely and the atmosphere was very gorgeous. The afternoon tea was definitely on the expensive side but we were able to share three between the 6 so that was ok. Would have been better if we had even number of savoury sandwiches since there were three on one tower. The tea was lovely but having a top up water could be even better. The AC was good and the plans looked amazing as well. Toilet was really nice and felt very clean. It will be even better if there are some student discount’s.

Fabulous place, from lovely art deco, lovely staff to wonderful food. A must dessert is their Ivy Chocolate Bomb 🤤
The waitress (Chantilly) was absolutely fabulous. Will definitely return.
M. G.
The interior, food and service were amazing! However, the waitress made a mistake when we asked her to split the bill equally and pay by card. We were stopped before leaving the restaurant by another person and asked to pay extra. That would be completely fine if the person was not rude and blaming the mistake on us, even when we happily paid the difference. I am sure this is an exception but it still left us with a bad taste in our mouth.
M. D.
We celebrated my wife’s Birthday 🎂 here and it was a fabulous experience. Service was excellent! Food was superb. I would highly recommend it.
Food was faultless, decor is very pleasant, experience was great we were seated in main lounge we had three course meal and chocolate bomb is really a 💣 fantastic, bombastic, explosion of taste to top up the experience…
Thanks to all staff! Best
C. J.
Great cocktails and excellent service at the bar. Went back later for dinner and the steak was sadly terrible as they char grill it and all you could taste was burnt and for a £33 steak you want to taste steak. They changed it and pan fried it instead which was much better (even the server and manager agreed pan fried is better). Excellent server also for dinner.
Overall for The Ivy we did expect better.
M. F.
We had high tea at the Ivy a very beautiful and colorful restaurant. Everything was delicious. Beautifully presented but our table was small for everything that came with 4 teapots and our lunch. If you have similar taste in teas share it will make more room on the table.
D. W.
Incredibly nice staff. Absolutely wonderfully friendly and accomodadating staff. Well done The Ivy. Loved the decor and ambiance. We only had cream teas and cocktails. Great experience.
K. W.
Good experience here at The Ivy Oxford Brasserie. Staff are friendly and good service throughout the evening. Food is well priced and portion size is good. The service you get for the price is exceptional. There might be better local restaurants you can go to in the same price range but for a chain its great!
M. Y.
Gorgeous interior, delicious food and attentive staff. I had the Prawn Cocktail to start, It had a variety of prawns with tasty sauce and crisp lettuce. For my main I had Rabbit and Langoustine pie which was amazing. A great treat on our visit to Oxford.
S. W.
Lovely setting, great service and food. We tried an Ivy Sling as a special treat and it was wonderful. The zucchini strips and bread for the table were incredible!
S. B.
Good bar service, friendly table service. Set menu not available as was a bank holiday. Wasn’t made aware of this when booked. Not a big deal but I wanted to eat off set menu and wasn’t available a la carte. Broccoli side order cold. Otherwise good.
J. L.
Great calamari. Eggs Royale was ok but both eggs were badly over poached with chalky yolks; unforgivable. The burger was average, patty quality ok but bun slightly burnt and lacking in sauce.
Ambience and decor is nice but a bit too packed in to really enjoy. Service good. Cocktails a bit pricey for the quality.
Overall, the quality doesn't seem to match the projected image. 5/10, unlikely to visit again or recommend
C. J.
Wonderful place for an Afternoon tea.. Loved the decor, the ambience, the service and the food was outstanding and they made a special effort for my friends birthday without asking.. Highly recommend
T. B.
Amazing decor, with quality food that’s reasonably priced. The Ivy, for some reason, seems to carry a snooty stigma, but I didn’t get that impression. Maybe it’s because I’m snooty? Anyway, check out the food. It was brilliant! The lobster linguine was the best I have tried in quite some time.
l. m.
Had lunch, extremely pretty place, check out the Rest Room, fish & chips was yummy with smashed green peas , and my dessert (Eton Mess ) was delightful. Service was borderline harassed but polite, apparently UK is short of service staff in the hospitality/f&b industry . Good pino Grigio by the glass .
A. N.
The food was very good, but the service was not excellent. The staff seemed so busy and didn't realize what we wanted. And, there were a lot of customers, so it was very noisy. I don't think it's good place for celebrating anniversary.
S. P.
Beautiful place
Lovely selection on the menu also a 2 or 3 course set lunch menu
Not too pricey
Would definitely recommend
Thanks for a lovely birthday lunch really impressed 👍
S. I.
Visited today for dinner with friends and we had a great time dining at The Ivy. The menu was good with a great choice of French and English dishes to go with the upmarket positioning. The service and the food wasn't bad, would have preferred to have the table for a bit longer but given the demand for tables is high, it's understandable it was limited to 2 hours. Really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere, would recommend to anyone in town.
P.
The ivy as a whole is overrated and our experience here did not change my mind. Our food got sent to the wrong table, the steak arrived cold and we received another tables drinks. The food is what we expect from the ivy, good but not great. However, the staff were nice and the interior was pretty.
R. C.
Came here for my birthday with my girls. The atmosphere was lively, the food was delicious and the service was first class! We definitely recommend this place. We'll done guys and thankyou for making my birthday special with a special birthday treat.
T. g.
2nd visit today for sons 21st birthday. Service was impeccable, food was delicious with ample portions, pretty decor. Javier (manager?) ensured we had a lovely time I would highly recommend a visit
L. Y. -. O. S. C. (. S. C.
We had a fantastic lunch today. Although the restaurant was surprisingly busy, we were served promptly, but not rushed. Definitely on my list for a return visit.
C. S.
A lovely 40th wedding anniversary meal. The staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The restaurant had been well designed and it was difficult to remember that it used to be a Natwest Bank. Would definitely recommend it as a place to eat.
G. C.
Really fantastic and phenomenal restaurant in Oxford. Great photo, service, atmosphere. Very professional and worth every penny.
W. S.
Food is great. Place is nice. Staffs are welcome. Must try.
A. O.
Experience was not bad but needs more space. Food is okay. Staff were so nice and followed instructions
K. C.
Although food was tasty the menu is disappointedly limited. The main menu does not include many vegan choices. However the vegan hight tea is beautiful. Food presentation is fantastic and the staff are very professional and welcoming. Decor of the restaurant is beautiful but it highly depends on where you are sitted as parts of the venue look just as an ordinary pub.
M. D.
Fabulous afternoon tea in stunning surroundings. The restaurant is beautifully furnished and the afternoon tea was the best I'd ever had and I've had a few. The only slight negative, and it was a small one, was the table being too small for four of us and all the paraphernalia that goes with an afternoon tea. Over than that an absolute delight from start to finish and we will definitely go back for an evening meal.
V. N. C.
The goat-cheese tart was great, and the fish and fries as well (Tip: try truffle and parmesan fries).
A little pricey, but the food worth it.
L. S.
I went for lunch at The Ivy and as my first visit was very impressed. The staff were excellent and the food was delicious. The decor is detailed and extravagant - it's all very instagram/influencer's paradise if that's your kind of thing and you can tell a huge amount of work has gone into the appearance and vibes. It is definitely somewhere I would return and would be keen to try the afternoon tea options.
J. H.
Some of their food is stellar (for me, the goat cheese tart) and some of it just didn't taste great to me (duck liver parfait, though my dinner companion loved it). The service was very good in the first half -- attentive staff who were happy to suggest drinks based on our tastes -- though once rush hour hit, it became just a bit tough to flag someone down for dessert or the check.
Personally, I found the decor to be the most impressive part of the experience - the gilded ceiling with butterflies painted in exquisite detail is a sight to behold, and the walls covered with paintings create an aura of grandeur and class.
V. D. (.
Stunning interiors and very tasty food! The service was a bit slow but it was quite full on a Saturday. The people who served us were super friendly! There's a sign in the entrance that photos are nor allowed, which is a shame because the place is absolutely beautiful! My compliments to whoever designed/created all the illustrations inside.
R. P.
We celebrated an anniversary here & had a fabulous experience! Really thoughtful evening - Andrea was a phenomenal server & the dishes (cod in banana leaf + the shrimp curry) were each well presented. The ambiance is really fun & unusual for Oxford, every inch is covered and has something going on. Looking forward to going back for another occasion in the future.
E. M.
My partner and I went to the Ivy restaurant today in Oxford for our anniversary. It was such an amazing experience and the first of many. It’s beautiful interior, well-dressed staff, attention to detail along with exceptional quality and outstanding food.
We were served by Levi, a Hungarian waiter, who made the visit extra special by presenting us with this cake below. He was very friendly and spent some time chatting to us. This is an important quality to this restaurant, as often times waiters are rushing around and not able to chat. It is because of waiters like Levi that would make you want to come back again as the rapport you establish makes you feel important and special.
Thank you Levi for making this anniversary visit special and we will be back again.
R. M.
Delicious food, excellent customer service, enchanting decor. We came all the way from Florida and hope to visit again soon.
L. M.
Great service, good food, nice atmosphere. Been here a few times, got the tiramisu twice and both times the sponge was very dry, like it hasn’t been soaked at all, disappointing. Steaks and chicken dishes have been good, burger is nice but pretty basic, no frills or anything special about it, which you expect from a place of the Ivy’s reputation. Always a nice experience, but feels like there’s missed opportunities here. Service is standard to excellent, depending on the day - tonight we were serves by 3 people and got just one smile at the end, when handing over the payment card!
C. B.
Had a lovely time, staff very friendly, afternoon tea was lovely & a lot of lovely cake, the chicken mayonnaise in a lovely Brioche was very tasty. Champagne very tasty. restaurant was tastefully decorated & clean. My friend loved her 60th Birthday surprise & staff brought a little cake with a candle in it for her. Thank you. Can highly recommend.
D. K.
Very impressed with the quality of food and overall service. Staff were attentive and allowed time before serving up the next course, so a relaxed, no rush dinner was had. A lovely atmosphere inside. Food was cooked perfectly. Very good.
F. B.
Same menu across the whole chain so you do know what to expect. The quality is there and the food is prepared with care. The truffles arancini are a must have with a glass of champagne or a cocktail. The Prawn cocktail might seem expensive but it's worth every penny. Made with an abundance of big and juicy king prawns, this starter is of a very high standard. The steak tartar will never beat a French one from a Parisian Brasserie but it remains a good imitation. The beef is of quality and knife cut not machine processed. A bit too herby for my own personal taste but all it is a good dish. A bit small even as a main so if you need to eat loads to feel satisfied this one is not the one for you. The Service was a bit shaky and would benefit from a week or 2 of training in one of their busier London branch. Our waiter couldn't really serve any drink properly and the tablecloth got more than it asked for.
M.
What a place, never visited before and local to Oxford, great interior design and not to be missed, food and drink is so good and will be back. Jamie our waiter 5* was excellent with good knowledge of wine and food.I had food that I wouldn't normally have and was not disappointed, so many choices and will be back to try other dishes.
G. G.
We popped in for Brunch with no reservation. The staff were all very friendly, welcoming and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would definitely recommend a visit. The decor is outstanding!
M. A.
Lovely place, we had brunch and the food was delicious, nicely presented and the staff was friendly.
Will try it again for dinner this time!
D. S.
Superb Service as always, had the Easter special Brunch menu... It was delicious.
Great cocktails
H. B.
This upmarket chain enjoys beautiful decor and an exclusive VIP treatment from staff. Starter and dessert were sensational but had to send my curried chicken main back for being a bit tough and dry. They were understandably mortified and the soup I switched for was delicious.
D. G.
Updating my review after my latest visit. Service was excellent, attentive, engaging, professional and friendly (thank you Lydia!)
Lovely decor and atmosphere for a special meal. Food is excellent as you'd expect from The Ivy.
Nice range of non-alcoholic cocktails.
Y.
Excellent Food. Usually never give the food 10/10, but I have it break that trend in this case.
Great choice and variety in food/cocktails.
Very nice decor, and vibes.
Service by Alejandro was great.
A. T.
Very cosy ambiance and nice decoration at every corner of the restaurant. Enjoyed the dining experience here.
J. D.
The wait staff was very attentive and accommodating. The menu options were plentiful and the tuna and tomato salad were delicious!
A. T.
It's very nicely done up inside and the service is excellent. 4 stars just because for the price you pay the food is not particularly nicer than alternatives it's obvious the extra money is going onto decor and staffing levels not on food. But of course it's still nice, so if that's the vibe you're going for then go for it.
A. G.
I'd definitely recommend The Ivy in Oxford and would visit again.
Service was great from the moment we arrived at the front door to the moment we left, everyone was warm and friendly, knew their wines and allergen information and were happy to recommend alternate dishes.
The only niggle and the switch from 5 to 4 star for food was the mushroom linguine which need more seasoning and just a moment less cooking.
We didn't realise until leaving how lucky we were to be seated in the smaller dining area to the back of the restaurant because walking past the main dining room we realised just how crowded and noisy that room was.
A. H.
Temperature checks on entrance, very friendly and happy staff and amazing service. Hand sanitizer on the table and seating spread out nicely.
The burger and chips I had was delicious and the perfect amount, but you had to pay extra for cheese and bacon (never said it was cheap). Salmon was lovely, veg that came with it was undercooked and the knife given was very blunt so difficult to slice the veg and fish nicely.
Toilets were beautifully decorated and clean, as was the decor of the restaurant. Very atmospheric and an overall great experience. Only go if you can afford the above average prices.
L. D.
Andrea was very polite and came to our table often to ensure we had everything we needed. A personal experience. Thank you.
A. S.
Great decor and the food was good. Waiting staff attentive. Not rated a 5 as I felt the food could be better. I had the chicken with polenta and my friend had the burger. Both good, not excellent.
A. A.
Great breakfast on Saturday. The food was served quickly, was hot and delicious. The server Janssen was very helpful. Fantastic start to the last weekend before school starts again!
D. G.
Very nice indeed. Staff were excellent, and very accommodating, considering we had no reservation on a Saturday evening. Food was good. Enjoyable experience all-round.
G. K.
Had a room upstairs for a group meal. Great setting, lovely food and superb waiting staff. Was left slightly disappointed that they were unable to offer decaffeinated coffee at the end of the meal.
J. S.
Great atmosphere, even better food - impressive drinks to top it off! Mia served us, and she was very polite, accommodating and professional. Will be returning :)
k. h.
Quality brunch & lots of coffee.
In lovely surroundings, and attentive staff.
L. V.
Nice 3-course menu until 19h for 23 GBP.
J. T.
Had lunch here yesterday with a friend and we were really impressed. Very warm welcome upon arrival. Decor is just stunning, staff attentive and service was quick and flawless. We chose from the set menu which is very reasonably priced and delicious. Definitely worth a visit.
B. T.
Just what you'd expect from the brand, extremely proficient and courteous service as well as stunning food. It's a real treat to come here!
M.
Fab experience, delicious food and drinks, friendly and professional staff.
j. c.
No booking but we were acomadated a few hours later. In the middle of the city but a world away once you step inside. Staff are very attentative and keep an eye on when your glass needs filling. Food was good and prepared quite quickly. Good choice and a meal deal during the week.
s. t.
Nice looking decor, comfortable seating, efficient staff... and then the food arrived ! Omg looked good, tastes full of flavour, portion size was slightly on the small size but an amazing experience.
C. D.
We like it, but I would have loved it if the staff had pointed out the duck salad as a main is literally 2x price of the equivalent starter. 1st & last time I'll have an £18.50 salad!!!
L. B.
Went here today to celebrate our daughter's graduation. Our waiter,Janssen Santo, was amazing. He was able to reccomend menu items and describe them expertly. Our daughter also recieved a celebration pudding plate. What a super gesture. Made her day even more special
N. “. F.
An enjoyable birthday party. Very good food and first class service.
E. P.
Came here with my folks for father's/fathers' day lunch: the food was good - v tasty salmon - & their homemade ginger beer was delicious. The Maitre d was very kind to my early-stage dementia'd mother, and my Ma was delighted cos she managed to have pudding, washed down with a puddingy drink, followed by pudding: her perfect meal! The service was to hand whenever needed (very slick, according to my Pa, who's already talking about another visit...but without my mother), and efficient without our feeling rushed. I have to say that I don't love the decor, and I hold a candle for when it was my favourite ever NatWest Bank branch... But times change and I never got so much as a biscuit when I was waiting to see the bank manager! Will definitely return.
S. G.
This was our first visit to The Ivy in Oxford and we were extremely impressed. The food, service, surroundings and ambiance were all first class. We look forward to returning very soon!
J. S.
Fantastic environment. The staff delivered great customer service. This is a new fine dinning in Oxford and it’s best to book a table before hand. When we arrived there were few tables available but by the time we left the place was buzzing. The space was well designed and the decor is really nice, they didn’t spare any costs, even the toilets look superb, but that’s to expect from the Ivy, given it’s reputation.
J. C.
A friendly and welcoming atmosphere coupled with gorgeous dining area. The staff were super friendly and attentive and the food was fabulous. Highly recommended
L. C.
Greeted by great staff and taken to the bar for pre-dinner drinks.
The bar staff were really chatty and friendly and mixed us some great cocktails!
The restaurant was very busy and buzzy.
The decor reflects the Botanical gardens in Oxford and the artwork throughout the building was beautiful.
Great menu, with plenty of choices. Lovely food as always from the Ivy brand.
Enjoyed the evening and will return to this restaurant.
S. S.
Great service, good food and good options for vegetarian. Took my husband for his Birthday today for lunch. Helpful and courteous staff - thank you.
S. H.
Food is good but service got painfully slow towards the end! Servers disappear after you order your entrée and from the look of it they aren't much interested in brings either the dessert menu, or the dessert that you ordered, or the cheque :)
O. A.
I visited this exquisite looking restaurant last Friday and my experience was great!
The closest car park is the Westgate shopping centre which is about 11mins walk to the restaurant, quite secure multi storey carpark, not expensive..we paid about £3.50 for 4hours (bear in mind it was btw 7-10.30pm)
On arrival, we were ushered to our table which was beautifully laid out.
The decor was absolutely fantastic and the setting was beautiful 😍👌🏼
Temperature checks available at the entrance before you are allowed into the restaurant, the staff at reception were warm and professional, our waiter was nice but forgot a few things which I would like to associate to tiredness 😅
The food was good, nothing fancy, just simple and nice regular English menu but the dessert blew us away 🥰❤️ absolutely loved the creme brulee and chocolate bomb 😋🙌🏼
The bathrooms were clean and we loved the wall papers, ambience was excellent!
Pricing was good for what you get and no crazy service charge 😄
The food waiting time was abit spaced, food came out warm but we guess it was because they brought everyone's food out at the same time, could be hotter 😊
We were given complimentary hand sanitisers on our way out which was really nice of them (these were also laced on the table throughout the meal)
In all, it was a lovely night out ❤️❤️
Thanks to you guys for your hard work
C. Y.
Not quite sure how to rate this. I went with my son and we had a lovely lunch together. The decor is fabulous. The atmosphere was lively. The service was friendly. The toilets... I could stay there all day as they're so beautiful...
We had a lunch menu for 21 pounds and it was ok value.... But if you're a foodie, don't get too excited. It was pretty average. Although the yoghurt sorbet with hot strawberry sauce was tasty.
Embrace the atmosphere. Have a nice drink. Take some photos of the loos. But if you primarily want amazing food, this is not your place. 😊
A.
Great location and décor. The food was fantastic as was the service. I can't fault it. Drinks were fab. Fish and chips were a great portion. We split our mains.
A. W.
We didn't eat here, but if it's a great atmosphere with excellent staff and awesome cocktails, you can't go far wrong.
The art deco décor is top drawer and if it's a pre- or post-dinner cocktail you want, make sure you ask for Oli (although I'm sure they're all good).
It's The Ivy, darling, it's bound to be good!
s. s.
Such a fantastic evening. Food and service absolutely 5⭐ for a special evening it's first class and will worth visiting...
K. C.
Beautiful interior, excellent service, staff very friendly food lovely. Fish and chips are the Best I have ever had.
S. B.
A bit disappointing, scones were dry and no butter was offered, just jam and clotted cream. Tea options were limited. Bathroom had water all over the floor.
L. N.
Once we had passed the gatekeeping / frosty 'service' from receptionist on door twice today we enjoyed The Ivy in Oxford. We had excellent food and exceptional service from a very personable and new waiter.
c. S.
Went for lunch today, what a great experience. Was met at the front door, had our coats taken. Was given a choice of tables, chose one by the window. There is great choice on the menu for everyone. 3 of my friends had the set menu, which was lovely. I went for the steak tartare, which I have to say was delicious. Couldn't fit in a pudding, so had a pot of coffee and cream instead, good coffee! We were served by Sergio, who was really attentive, in fact all the staff were, all very friendly. A really enjoyable afternoon. Loved the ambiance and decor! They had some great cocktails on the menu, shame I was driving, maybe next time.......
G. L. G.
Extremely beautiful place, good lunch menu. The Ivy beer was delicious. I think this is a must in Oxford
C. O.
Impeccable service and great food. Slightly disappointed that the truffle dishes lacked that distinctive truffle taste, but not enough to knock off a star
I. B.
Booked by my wife as a surprise anniversary lunch. Staff were really friendly and welcoming. Great choice on the menu at very reasonable prices. Portion sizes were good. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the entire experience. Would definitely recommend and look forward to a return visit
L. M.
Gorgeous food in a beautiful restaurant. Been to Ivy restaurants three times now and I'm never disappointed by the taste sensations I get every time I visit. It's expensive but you can taste you're getting quality to match. The staff are attentive and make you feel like you're somewhere special. Thanks for making us feel like VIPs for a day!
C. P.
This was my first visit to the Ivy and I was not disappointed. Beautiful environment, good service and great choice of food. I chose the scallop starter which was amazing, and the duck curry which was very tasty. Cannot fault anything but personal preference would be for the tables not to be so close together, the current conditions made me feel uncomfortable to be sat so close to others.
E. E.
Great decor and the staff worked hard.
Luke warm coffee and no hash browns with one of the full English breakfasts. Asked for ketchup but didn’t receive it. Changed knife as dirty.
Food reasonably priced and ingredients used seemed good quality.
A. C.
Had our first experience of the Oxford Ivy last night for our anniversary. We had a table for two booked for dinner at 7pm. By that time on a Saturday night the restaurant was obviously humming already. The Ivy is a classy place, very grown up with a nice ambience. There was a live DJ playing the subtle background music and the bar had a good throng of people drinking cocktails. I ordered the duck curry that was mild and tasty, my wife had the salmon. Both dishes were of high quality (rather than huge quantity) but we came away satisfied and wanting to return to sample others dishes. The deserts were actually larger than we expected. Prices are high end for Oxford but justified by the Ivy name and quality of the establishment.
P. B.
Yet another Ivy and yet again fantastic experience. Have been to London and Glasgow Ivy and this was by far the best, great service, great food and atmosphere. Would happily have lunch their again
C. K.
Great service, posh young vibe, nice wine, food was ok. Good experience.
C. D.
4 of us came here for dinner and all thoroughly enjoyed the food. Main courses aren't overpriced, we felt some of the starters and desserts were a little more expensive than necessary.
Staff were attentive and it was interesting to work out which grade wore which colour and style of uniform.
J. D. N.
Great ambiance - nice food - one of the better places to eat in Oxford - don’t take the truffle parmesan fries - take the fried squid as starter 😋
G. W.
Wonderful food. Wonderful staff. Wonderful ambience. Lovely
E. M.
We had a Hen Do in the private dining room - beautiful venue, great food and drinks, and the SERVICE - absolutely incredible! Maisie hosted us and she was attentive, supportive, professional, met our wants and needs, and truly ensured we all had the best time ❤️ Thank you Maisie!!!
J. M.
Fantastic service, funky decor, great food and big selection of tasty cocktails!
We had the brunch menu which had a good selection of brunch and non brunch items. Service was of a very high standard.
E. H.
Great Food, Great Staff, Great Location, Great Aesthetics. Can't say anything bad about the place.
A. M.
Can't fault the ambience of the Ivy or the attentive staff, but unfortunately tonight the food was a real let down, beautifully presented, but only warm and when re done unfortunately still not hot, hotter than the first time but certainly not piping hot as you would except. There acknowledgement by not charging us for the meals was nice of them, but the night was still rather spoilt.
H. C.
Nice Staff, lovely venue and reasonably priced (and delish) food.
G. C.
Nice ambience however saying we had less than 1 hour didn’t make us feel like a “valued customer” they obviously had to ignore this when our mains came out at the hour mark. My main did come out cold which I complained about and they replaced without hesitation and removed from bill. The food was honestly lovely and would look past the few hick ups considering it!
M. N.
We had a great meal with fantastic cocktail's 🍹 and wine. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The main bar looks great
Y. G.
Lovely looking place and aesthetic, good staff, good presentation, but the food itself is so average and tasteless :( was quite underwhelmed
D. C.
Very decadent interior, creates a lovely atmosphere for a meal for any size party
R. J.
Fantastic experience all round. The service was exceptional, attentive but unobtrusive, we were so well catered for without hardly noticing the staff's presence.
When we arrived the music was far too loud, but was adjusted immediately on request allowing for great conversation all evening whilst celebrating my son-in-law graduation.
I highly recommend the truffled mushrooms to start, just amazing what some chef's can do.
The steak although excellent was overpriced considering all veg and sauces are extra .
A top class evening was had by all the family
S. F.
An excellent afternoon tea in fantastic surroundings, sometimes you just have to enjoy a nice treat.
B. T.
Had a wonderful reception held here, the food was exceptional and the staff friendly and attentive.
H. N.
Nice food, beautiful surroundings but not worth the hype. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my meal and would go again but it's been highly recommended to me and I think over rated.
C. T.
Nice decor, cocktails very nice, staff were wonderful, food was ok, the dress code states smart casual, lot of men in t-shirts and trainers? Expensive for a ok experience.

Booked by the gorgeous wife for our first wedding anniversary. On arrival we were shown to a small table by a pillar which was on a main thoroughfare, unbeknownst to me she'd mentioned our anniversary when booking and had asked for a nice table. The lady went away to speak with the lady on the door, came back and showed us to a very nice table, apologising, stating that this was noted but obviously not actioned. We were then asked if we wanted a complimentary glass of champagne which was nice. Food was fab apart from the chunky chips which sadly were lacking; when bitten into, the outside collapsed as if the potato inside had given up and left! Prawn cocktail great, steaks great. Rum Baba, delicious. I asked fur a Whistle Pig bourbon which we'd actually had in New York last year where we were married which was a nice touch, unfortunately the glass which it came in was chipped! Hard to believe. It was swapped when mentioned though, arguably it should never gave been sent out. Nice touch at the end as well when we were given small cream sponge cakes. Pic attached. Ambiance really good, nicely decorated with lots of separated spaces. Nicely attentive staff but we had to ask for water and the bourbon twice, nice coffee. Loos would almost be impossible to find, luckily I followed someone who was luckily going to the loo. Will visit again.
T. P.
Family dinner in the upstairs function room. Good food and friendly service.
D. E.
Such a lovely staff! We felt like home ! We were looking to have a nice coffee and they recommended us the Vanilla shakerato, a beautiful Espresso shaken with ice, served in a martini glass such a glorious drink! Felt very fresh ! Definitely we will return 🤍
T. C.
Great service and menu. Staff very well dressed and looked after us very well. A well priced menu to suit many budgets. Loved it.
L. E.
Beautiful restaurant, extremely polite and welcoming staff, and a lovely enjoyable bubbly filled birthday brunch with friends .
C. C. C.
Such a nice place... I went for an afternoon tea... Staff were so kind... Everything was wonderful...
S. C.
Amazing Ivy and what beautiful deco, food was good. Prices are abit steep but if you have a special occasion then it's worth a visit.
R. B.
We had afternoon tea, which was not really to the standard of the Ivy food. The dessert dishes were good, but overall not worth the price we paid.
B. H.
Too large a gap between courses, terrible background noise (music?)entirely unsuited to the ambience. Meal OK apart from floating spinach and cold coffee.
M. G.
Pleasant staff. Great food. Clean throughout. Little pricey but tasty food.
R. G.
We visited here in the build-up to Christmas with a few friends. There's a great selection of food to cater for different dietary requirements. The staff were really really helpful to make sure that allergies were considered.
The staff in general were really helpful and went above and beyond during our visit. A place we'll definitely go back to when visiting Oxford!
T. R.
The food, service and ambience of the Ivy were all excellent. We will be going back there again when we next visit Oxford.
N. T.
This restaurant was stunning. The decor was mesmerising my eye were everywhere, there was just so much to see. The food was just the right amount to eat fused with flavours and exquisitely presented. The waiting staff were just so on it, so refreshing. The chocolate bomb is highly recommended for you sweet tooth lovers. Overall stylish and Classy. We definitely will being revisiting. Thank you The Ivy for not disappointing.
J. M.
It was fun but it's not quite Ivy League in my humble opinion. The negronis hit the spot though ...
M. V.
Wonderful spot for an easy going sunday brunch. Nice atmosphere and decor with a simple yet well executed menu.
R. M.
My first time visiting but I will definitely return when I’m next in Oxford. I could not fault the service or food.
T. h. R.
We celebrated our wedding here Nov 26th and we had a wonderful experience. The private dining room is stunning so much so that there is nothing really you need to do in order to dress the room. All our guests complicated the deco, the food and the brilliant hosting skills off the two young ladies that catered to our every need – by constantly topping up our drinks, playing music up request and making sure all guest were fed well. If I could give 10* I would ….
R. Z.
Lovely venue in an old Nat West bank. Good menus. Temperature check made on entry. Slightly overpriced.
H. S.
Second visit here and never disappoints. Great service and amazing food .
p. i.
Impressed by the art decor interior design and artwork as well as the relaxed, unpretentious and convivial atmosphere. Waiting staff are polite but remain low key and service is relatively quick. Prices, although above average, as you'd expect from the Oxford version of the London Ivy -host to many a celebrity- are not unreasonable given the quality of the food and interesting selection of sides on offer. The chocolate bomb desert which melts before your eyes, will leave a smile on your face. Highly recommended for those special occasions or just something a bit more sophisticated.
m. t.
Afternoon tea here was a little disappointing, coffee arrived Luke warm ,and brown sugar cubes in the dish were stuck to it . chocolate brownie was so hard you couldn’t put a knife through it .smoothie came with no straws . I would of expected better from the Ivy .
Staff very pleasant and efficient not sure I would visit again .
A. E.
Seriously had the best lamb I have ever tasted! The décor is stunning and the staff made us very welcome and special. Will be back again and again!
D. S.
Now the fourth Ivy we have visited and all have been fantastic. This was the first time we have had breakfast but yet again, everything was spot on.
A. A.
Beautiful ambience. Very well decorated, neat, clean place. It have a luxurious feel to it and the food is also nice. Good presentation to the food as well. Over all a great experience. Its a must try place and should go there with your loved ones. You can feel the romance in the air.
S. H.
Andrea, our excellent waitress, and the whole Ivy team were truly EXCEPTIONAL! As soon as we entered, the hostesses wished us a happy celebration (since we left a note on our open table booking).
The food, the drinks, and the entire ambience was five-stars! We will certainly return for our next special occasion.
C. H.
My fish and chips main course and creme brullee sweet were excellent, but the main arrived too quickly on top of our starter. Our main server was extremely attentive and I'd recommend the house wine by the glass to avoid paying over the odds.
M.
Superb. Great staff, kept ontop of clearing and serving. Will go again for sure as it is most definitley worth the price.
They also brough a celebratory mini dessert for the family member who's birthday we were there to celebrate which was lovely.
p. j.
Changed our table and gave us a better table - nice touch. Excellent champagne.
D. R.
We attended for our 3rd wedding anniversary and were not disappointed.
The service was impeccable with staff being polite, friendly and all congratulating us on our anniversary.
The food choice was quite broad which was nice and the speed of service was excellent. We had the Peruvian chicken and a cod dish, both of which were well presented, decently portioned and tasted fantastic. Considering the price of eating at the Ivy not being extortionate, it represents good value for a high quality meal. Would thoroughly recommend 👌
Oh and the ivy craft lager was surprisingly good too!
C. B.
Very good food and service. This restaurant has air conditioning on a very hot day
B. J.
The room was fantastically the food was fabulous. The standard of service phenomenal attentive, efficient and thoroughly professional.
A. M. L.
Lovely atmosphere and food. Staff attentive, first time in an Ivy establishment won't be my last!
D. W.
We first went to the Ivy a couple of days after it opened and we had a lovely experience. Excellent food and staff and not particularly expensive in view of the quality. Beautiful decor -even the toilets ! Will definitely be back .
A.
The food was amazing, the sirloin steak was tasty and tender. Andrea, our waitress, was always smiling and came to our table frequently to see if we needed anything. She made our experience more personal and pleasant!
g. t.
Lovely place good service but my main meal was cold and had to send back .Cheesecake was the best I've ever tasted .shame main meal let it down
B. C.
Had a great evening with friends and our waitress was excellent. The food was delicious!!
M. G.
We have been there with my boyfriend recently and the place is amazing!!
We started with the twice baked cheese soufflé which was incredible.
I took the chicken Milanese and the truffle sauce is a MUST to try with the Jasmine rice !!
For the desert, we took the chocolate bomb which is beautiful to watch ;)
The overall decoration of the place was very beautiful and the waiters were extremely friendly and amusing !!
We spent a very great time there and we would be pleased to go back there for another lunch or dinner and DEFINITELY RECOMMEND it !!
R. H.
Lovely space and great location. At peak periods staff are stretched but do their best. Wine list is good and prices not outrageous. Food is OK and match the price point for the location but not quite the best if your priority is the quality of the food in the plate
J. K.
Had afternoon tea here today. The place is beautifully appointed, and very stylish. The service wasn't as attentive as I would have liked although our waiter was perfectly polite. Sandwiches were mediocre at best, scones even less impressive. Thankfully the sweet items were outstanding and somewhat rescued the occasion. Oh, and the tea was rubbish, so weak, even with two teabags. However I admittedly didn't ask for the strongest option, I just assumed English breakfast would suffice so partly my fault. (The Old Parsonage is still the standard bearer for afternoon tea in the city, and far and away the best cuppa around!) The lunch and dinner menus did look quite good, so we might give this place another chance but it's certainly not in the same league as the actual Ivy in London's west end.
E. _.
Top notch service and clean interior as you would expect in any Ivy chains.
J. A.
Got to say I was disappointed. Impressive decor and lovely staff but the food was average at best. Chicken in the salad was both under cooked and over cooked. The steak (was not the one ordered) was average. The ‘treat ‘ was saved by genuinely helpful staff and a small refund but would have expected more from what aims to be a ‘go-to’ Oxford restaurant. Possibly our fault by being a late afternoon/early evening booking?
m. j. K.
Amazing staff, amazing food ,best bread ever, such lovely place
J. B.
Great vegan options if your looking for a gourmet meal. Service was excellent.
R. E.
Excellent service!! Me and my friends went for a group birthday dinner and our waiter Peter got everyone complimentary desserts! Beautiful interior and a lovely atmosphere highly recommend!
s. n.
Went for an Afternoon Tea with my bestie but we weren’t impressed really. We first waited for a water about 10 mins. Napkins looked like someone had trodden on them and a whole tea itself wasn’t very tasty. The biscuit which have looked like a custard cream was just pointless and horrible could get better at Tescos so was a macaron. A jam and cream for scones extremely stingy.Such a shame as it is a beautiful place.
S. C.
Such a beautiful restaurant with exquisite service and great food options. The decor is to die for so be sure to check out the toilets! - With pink marble and a large decorative communal area it's so stunning!!
D. M.
A great venue with a superb menu and wine selection. The service was faultless and we were really looked after.
We were only in Oxford for a few days and ended up going here twice as our first visit was so good.
Would definitely recommend. Thank you!
E. A. H.
Staff and atmosphere was very pleasant, sadly service was very slow. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Salad - unfortunately the chicken was very dry and tough; I had it replaced, but the replacement wasn’t much of an improvement! My daughter ordered the Shepherd’s pie and again this had to be sent back as it was cold when it finally arrived!
Not a very good experience on this visit.
N. H.
janssen made an otherwise standard dinner into a 5* experience. give him a raise!
D. B.
Nice respite in Oxford on a busy day. Enjoyed the garden room and set menu.
D. B.
Delicious food. Great atmosphere! Would certainly come back.
C. S.
After going to the Ivy brasserie in St Albans, Covent Garden and the original Ivy I suggested this to my friend for a catch up Sunday lunch in Oxford. When we arrived everything was great however our waiter was not very attentive. My friends main arrived and the chips she ordered as a side never arrived. Half way through her meal we managed to get his attention to which his response when we asked for the chips was how is your meal? The chips came ten minutes later with Parmesan and truffle after she asked for plain ones. The plain chips arrived after we had finished our meal with no apology. Ketchup came after asking twice. I was a bit disappointed as I had recommended this to my friend and to not receive the usual good service wasn’t great.
J. I.
Beautiful place with very friendly staff. The food was delicious, the staff was attentive. Great place for celebrations small and big. I will definitely visit again and again to try different things from the menu!
S. F.
Dinner tonight was 5* in every way. The food was fantastic, the cocktails perfect and all complimented by exceptional service. All the staff were brilliant and a special mention to Chloe our wonderful waitress you were brilliant x
R. I.
Amazing restaurant, the building is beautiful. The food was amazing and not as expensive as you'd expect. Staff not the friendliest but otherwise perfect.
A. Y.
Much like the other Ivy Brasserie locations this has a fantastic atmosphere which is enhanced by the delicious food and exceptional service. A great place to visit for a special occasion, treat, or if you just feel like a good evening meal!
J. G.
Fabulous place to relax meet friends have a great meal in Central Oxford.
K. W.
What a fantastic experience! I mentioned when booking that it was a special occasion as it was the first "proper" meal out since my wife finished her cancer treatment. We were greeted at the door as if we were friends and taken to our corner table. The decor is just beautiful with botanic themes and pictures of Oxford. Service is attentive. as it was a special treat, we ordered a glass of Prosecco each. Not your usual rubbish, but very good quality, although at 37.75 a glass, you would hope it would be. Food served quickly, but not pressured and it was exceptional. as it was a Saturday, the brunch menu was in operation, mostly simple items but cooked and served to perfection.
A surprise dessert appeared for my wife as a way of celebrating the special occasion (kind thought) and then the ordered desserts followed. Best Creme Brulee outside of France!!
Collecting the bill, we found that they had not charged us for the Prosecco as a way of offering my wife their thoughts and best wishes for her recovery. I thought this was a lovely touch.
Prices are not really expensive for what you get. For us, a weekend lunch out is usually towards the high end of the chain restaurants; The Ivy is obviously more expensive, but only 25 - 30% more and worth every penny. Would we go back? I think you can work that one out for yourself!!
M. S.
Went for a date night with my partner and had such a wonderful night! The food was really nice, my partner ordered a filet steak and he says it was one of the best ones he had in Oxford. They also have a really good choice of both wines and cocktails. The service was phenomenal, Eva served us and she was so attentive and lovely. It is a bit of a high budget place but so worth it! Strongly recommend it for a special night. Will definitely be back.
T. P.
This place is nicely decorated and has a cosy atmosphere. The menu seems a bit boring and uninspired. Nevertheless we found some dishes. Well, the bang bang salad, or whatever they call it, was a bit dry. The minute steak was delicious but the accompanying chips were too salty. The duck salad was nice but also a bit dry. The blackened cod was very nice and tasty. The choices of wine by the glass is limited to the house wine which is a bit pricy and frankly not that tasty. The service was just alright. Our waiter was inattentive and rudely kept calling us "guys" in the modern fashion. For a restaurant with such pretence that is quite a surprise. When we wanted to pay we were not given the option to decide on how much tip to give: it was either a hefty 12.5% or nothing. Again, it is a bit of a ridiculous system for such a place. In short, go there once or maybe very occasionally; but we certainly shall not be rushing back there. However, the hand santitiser they provide on each table smells absolutely gorgeous!!
C. P.
Service, decor and ambience were amazing. Some simple elements of the food disappointing. Hard bread, undercooked crispy courgettes, undercooked rice. Bill automatically reduced. Great staff
R. L.
Ok ish , bit boring and nothing special, Shepard’s pie I cook is better and the wife and kids agreed , nothing centre of oxford is much good all overpriced pub food or from frozen better visiting the pubs and restaurants on the outskirts of oxford for a decent meal
K. B.
The experience of eating at the Ivy has been spoken about so much I was afraid it wouldn't live up to the hype, but boy was I wrong.
Lovely selections on the menu and staff who will take the time to ensure you've made the right choice make this place easy to recommend to anyone. It's a bit pricey, but the food looks gorgeous and tastes even better, so once in a while I'd say it's completely worth the money! I'd recommend an Irish coffee here at any time of the day.
M. M.
The decor in the restaurant is beautiful and the food is lovely. We didn't have to wait very long between each course, but we did feel a little rushed. I had only just put my knife and fork down and my plate was cleared away. This may be to do with limited numbers of customers in the restaurant because of COVID restrictions and they were wanting the next customers in. The staff were helpful, polite and efficient. 3 courses each, alcohol drink and soft drink totalled £70 (including service charge).
C. F.
As always great food, attentive staff and a brilliant ambiance, usually really busy which speaks for itself.
P. M.
Lovely friendly service. Great food. It was my wife’s birthday and they brought a small cake with a candle. What a lovely lunch
C.
Lovely! We had a wonderful dinner here and the atmosphere was just wonderful. All the staff are so fun and knowledgeable about the food. Great vegetarian and vegan selection. Make sure to treat yourself to a cocktail too. Top marks for a nice dinner out 🥰
L. W.
After a great experience in Cheltenham's "The Ivy" a few years ago, my wife and I decided to try our local in Oxford for our 13th wedding anniversary. The menu is diverse and exciting, the food that came out of the kitchen was beautifully presented and utterly delicious, the drinks menu followed suit, the décor and ambiance is stunning and absorbing, and the service we received throughout from our waitress Andrea (and the team around her) was first rate.
We started with the duck salad and scallops; followed with mains of monkfish & king prawn curry and blackened cod, with sides of sweet potato and green beans; and rounded off with sharing a Rum Baba - the team also brought us a surprise profiterole each with a little chocolate saying "Happy Anniversary". Everything was utterly delicious. Such wonderful presentation and combinations of flavours.
In hindsight and only because it was pointed out by the Ivy team, we experienced a barely noticeable delay in our main course, but this was proactively dealt with in a way that I'd never experienced in a restaurant - first Andrea apologised and then the Maitre'D visited our table when we were done and apologised himself while also applying a discount to the bill. We were taken aback (in a very positive way) and this really emphasises the focus this team in Oxford has in providing a top rate diner experience.
Overall, it was one of the best dining experiences we've had in recent years and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you visit if you're reading this.
We will be returning to the Ivy!
G. H.
Top notch nosh, we had a great dinner there, nice surroundings and good service too
B. P.
Very nice brasserie, located on the high street in Oxford. Lovely interior, well decorated, giving a nice ambiance. The food and service was excellent as well. Recommended.
G. B.
Haven't been in a while service is always great but tonight was exceptional.
The food was fantastic and out waitress maisie was amazing friendly attentive which made our experience at the ivy extra special.
R. H.
Excellent meal and one of the few restaurants that I felt full afterwards
A. B.
Absolutely amazing ambiance, food and service, definitely ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
S. T.
The food was good and the decor was lovely. But what made the experience was the superb service from Daniel! He went above and beyond to ensure that our experience was exceptional. He gladly shared fun insights into the restaurant which made us appreciate it more and notice new details. He is what made this evening into a memorable place that we will no doubt return to at a later date.
L. B.
The head waiter was so impatient not only with customers also with staff members.. Why have a DJ an Ivy restaurant....
P. N.
Typical Ivy. Excellent food, well served. A really nice experience.
B. M.
Very friendly staff, great food and quick service.
M. A.
Was her for Christmas eve dinner. Great service and nice decor. But food is very small portions for the price, the steak and lobster only came with a sliver of lobster and was left hungry after the 30£ main. Definitely worth the visit but definitely have a big lunch before.
J. M.
Elegant surrounds and tasty bistro food or drinks at the bar on a high stool.
W. T.
Great service. Wonderful food drinks. Great choice if you're non alcoholic drinker or vegan. Brilliant decor and atmosphere. Everybody is warm and accomodating. Couldn't ask for more. Be sure you book in good time though. It's very popular.
J. L.
Beautiful decor, well spaced tables and helpful staff. The food was very good and good value and the chocolate bombe was wonderful. 😍 We really enjoyed it all.
A. F.
Beautiful decor, friendly & attentive staff, temperature check & hand sanitiser before you enter the restaurant. The food was delicious. We chose from the set menu. The choices were good & varied & the atmosphere was just right. We are already planning our return.
R. M. S.
Just enjoyed a fantastic lunch here - beautiful restaurant, great food and lovely service (think our server was called May - thanks!). It was my partners bday and they made her feel very special :)
O.
My order was extremely burnt. But they apologized and did not charge. 5* for their professionality. I also recommend their London Covent Garden restaurant
A. “. D.
Decor, experience and staff were great. My minute steak was cooked to perfection, but the peppercorn sauce was very salty. Everything else was great.
J. R.
Best food at this level I have ever had. I had onion soup and half a chicken which was delicious. My wife had the salmon, which again was superb. Service superb - very attentive. I recommend this restaurant, which is a cut above most of its type and only marginally more expensive. Only slight reservation is background music, but this gives a buzz which is not aimed at my more mature age group!
D. G.
Great food and drink in a fantastic deco venue. Menu a little overpriced, and service a little disorganized, but staff uber friendly and big discount and apology offered for not being up to their usual high standards.
R. O.
Fantastic service and glorious surroundings. Lovely period decor depicting natural history and links to Oxford. Well worth a visit but bring your credit card especially if your buying booze.
N. R.
Table of 4 to celebrate hubby's birthday. Well looked after from start to finish. Our waitress, Torin, was lovely - very smiley & attentive.
Beautiful decor, incl the loos!
The menu has a great choice to suit all tastes. The food was outstanding. Beautifully presented & tasted divine. Good selection of wines too.
Coming back in December - can't wait!
L.
We enjoyed a good meal here and the staff were excellent but why the need to put young women staff in tight fitting, short, low cut dresses? In these days it is inappropriate, demeaning and unnecessary.
J. B.
Absolutely stunning restaurant, stunning food, great atmosphere. Can be loud at times but nothing uncomfortable
a. h.
Good food and service in a central Oxford location. Worth a visit.
S. S.
Beautifully decorated. The pink toilet is a must visit just to appreciate the design.
Food was average. Our of 5 staff we interact with, 1 was impressive, friendly and know her staff, 1 was clueless, but confident - insisted that the hot chocolate she served was a latte.
Value for money.
Would definitely recommend it to anyone.
G. F.
Lovely meal, decor and service top notch. So nice to watch a service running smoothly. I have missed enjoying the experience of dining out.
Will be back again!
I.
Very nice place and good food.
Unfortunately bit of a disaster on this occasion had to send the steak back well under cooked the disater bit was getting the steak back took about 30min to rectify. By that time everyone else had finished there meal.
Off course they oppoligised and adjusted the bill.
Would definitely return
H. W.
Arrived early, warm & friendly welcome. Found us a space at the bar but to our delight the table was ready early. Our servers were attentive, however, there was a hilarious cacophany of cutlery dropping around us. Food was good & served promptly. The cocktails were delicious. The decor is exquisite & the toilets are sumptious.
K. E.
Excellent meal, service 100% atmosphere lovely.
S.
Lovely service and atmosphere. Set menu very elegant. Enjoyed pumpkin soup, linguini, sea bream, chicken palliard, great wine list.
P. A.
Great Food (starters: Duck Liver Mandarin parfait 5*; Prawn Cocktail 4*; mains: Ivy Shepherds Pie 4* btw a side is essential, Pan Fried Salmon 5*). But slow and inexperienced service: one hour from arrival to our mains arriving. Presumably they lost staff during lockdown.
K. H.
The food was stunning. Absolutely amazing. The service was 5 stars as well. Perfect place to go for a special treat. We were however a bit disappointed, as I did say while making the reservation that we wanted a nice table as it was an anniversary. The table we were sat at was bit underwhelming. Also they do add service charge onto the bill which we didnt mind, as the service was amazing, but what if it wasnt? I would prefer to make my own decision about the tip. Nonetheless, the food was absolutely gorgeous and it was a lovely evening.
L. L.
Delicious meal to celebrate our daughter's graduation
M. B.
I was very excited about our visit here. We arrived and it felt special. The staff were attentive and pleasant. We ordered a cocktail and sat at our table. By the time our drinks arrived so had our starters! Hmmmm a cocktail with a starter, not a great combination. We then ordered wine with our meal, our meal again arrived very quickly but no wine! It arrived as we were finishing. Very disappointing. It felt very rushed, in and out as quickly as possible! The food was lovely but served too quickly, and the wine was just too slow. I would have liked wine with my meal not after. Such a shame.
G.
What a great place to visit! Amazing venue, really friendly and helpful staff and the foot and drinks all delicious! Loved it!
A. T. S.
Servers could be more attentive, but spectacular surroundings.
L. M.
The food was lovely, the staff were excellent but the music was just too loud and not really needed. It wasn't at all fitting with the ambience of the restaurant. Looking around, I could see 1930s style and elegance with a modern twist but the music that was being belted out was Saturday night rave stuff ! We asked for it to be turned down a little and it was but it was still too loud. I wouldn't fancy having an afternoon tea whilst listening to that ! Everyone has to shout to be heard above it, which makes the place very noisy indeed. I would've given 5 stars otherwise !
P. B.
Excellent Meal and wine/water. Highly recommended.
O. G.
Went here for breakfast and the food wasn’t that great (poorly seasoned, poorly cooked) but the service and the atmosphere were great!
A. B.
A lovely experience! The food and drinks were delicious and the service was excellent; Patrick was so attentive, calm and kind even though the restaurant was full and he must have been busy. Will be returning!
a. h.
Fun and glamorous. Definitely worth a visit. The Ivy chain has turned into a really good bet for a slightly more than everyday outing. Love them.
I.
Very lovely decor. Lovely food. Reasonably priced all round. Lovely attentive ( but not over the top ) staff. All in all great. Thank you 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
A. V.
We have been a few times and I have to say the food and the service is absolutely fantastic especially the duck curry! Would recommend for a nice treat while visiting the amazing city of Oxford
M. S.
Food is pricy and decent, but is a little expensive for what you get
J. B.
Fab place, food & service
Definitely worth a visit
N. L.
Lovely surroundings and gives you a higher class feel along with the courteous staff. The menu and list of expansive array of spirits and wine is also impressive
J. D.
Great place for a lively lunch. Good range dishes available. Staff are helpful and attentive without being obtrusive. Very good fish dishes.
R. A.
Good food. Good service. Nice decor.
M. H.
Service was amazing! The place is just beautiful.
R.
Despite being a chain (albeit a well-established one), our experience smacked of a high end independent eatery. The service was excellent - one of our party had specific dietary requirements and the waiter went out of his way to explain the dishes and make recommendations based on her needs.
It was busy but the maitre de got our temperatures checked, booking confirmed and seated in an efficient and courteous manner.
K. B.
Excellent setting, menu, quality of food and superbly attentive service. We'll definitely be back, this is now a firm favourite.
D. M.
3rd visit. Excellent set menu with 3 starters, 4 mains and 3 sweets. 2 courses for £16.95; 3 courses for £21.50. Service is excellent.
M. R.
Lovely food and nice staff.
J. B.
Had a great dinner with my wife. Have eaten in the London Ivy on many occasions and was excited to let my wife experience it. She wasn't disappointed however there was a group of people who to begin with at the bar who were quite rude. This was mentioned to both the waitress and her boss and it was dealt with quietly and efficiently. Can't fault the evening and would highly recommend to all me friends and family in London and Oxford. We will be back again soon x
D. M.
Superb food in a beautiful setting. Great service and the toilet's are stunning!
A. G.
The food servings were exactly the right size (most places get this wrong). The service was excellent...the waiters were considerate , friendly and polite, without being intrusive. Love the decor and the music was good too. Being there was a total pleasure.
A. C.
Lovely place, personnel very kind and good food.

Excellent! There are no words to describe my experience in this restaurant, I went there for my niece's birthday celebration and it was a divine experience. The restaurant is beautiful, the staff is super efficient, friendly and polite. Loved every bite! Hope to be back soon.
M.
I went there with a friend for afternoon tea but unfortunately we forgot to check the times and we were 1 hour early! We ordered some starters and drinks what was lovely. So the afternoon tea starts at 3pm and they didn't let us order not even 15 min before !! We needed to wait exactly till 3pm ! what can we do.. but was just 15 min! After 45 min I asked if it's normal to wait so long for afternoon tea and they immediately apologized and 15 min after the food arrived! The staff who came to us was lovely and make a big discount at the end what I didn't expect! Thank you so much for that! About the person who was serving us can't say much, never apologized or anything and during that hour was always looking to us without any action... we could prevent all of that.. I will be back of course it's a new place so it's normal, mistakes happen.

Food really well presented with knowledgeable staff.

The decor was stunning, the service was not as I expected. A smile goes a long way!

Fabulous food, great atmosphere, poor service

There are better restaurants in this class in Oxford city centre, that may not have the trendy factor, but are better value for money, and have better service.
The experience of dining at The Ivy generally lived up to the (significant) hype. It is stylish, spotless, and well-managed, with the level of service that you would expect from a prestige chain. However, it did feel a little like a soft open, with the details not quite worked out yet. The food was just fair, with some dishes overseasoned, overcooked steak (despite asking for 'pink'), and lukewarm soup.
The biggest drawback was the individual service from our waiter, who was responsive, professional, and followed all foodservice etiquette, but screwed up our order in several ways. The wrong starter was brought to one of our group, then one of the steaks was delivered as well-done, despite clearly ordering pink (the other steaks were overcooked 'pink', this was a chewy well-done), and a side order was forgotten.
We were also disappointed to see that social distancing was not observed very well. Yes, they take your temperature at the door, and there is anti-bacterial spray on the tables. But unlike other restaurants, tables were still very close together, no dividers were up between them, and the staff were not wearing masks.

I visited the Ivy last weekend and absolutely loved the experience! From the moment you come through the door, you are met with wonderful service. There is a handy cloakroom to use free of charge so you don't have to sit with coats surrounding you as you eat. The decor is stunning and so interesting to look at! I love that there are bits of Oxford woven into the decor too and all of the plants.
The staff were fantastic throughout our breakfast and all went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed. This is the kind of service worth paying a service charge for!
The food was great. We both agreed that it was probably the best eggs benedict/royale we'd had in a long time and we shared the delicious pancakes too. Tea is served in lovely heavy silver pots and has plenty for at least 3 cups.
You should also definitely pay a visit to the ladies' toilets - as far as bathrooms go, this is beautiful!
Thank you for a lovely birthday treat - I have already booked to come back in January!

Tasty food, attentive staff and a great selection of cocktails (the salted caramel espresso martini was a hit!). A little more expensive than just a casual lunch, but nice enough to warrant it. Came on a busy Saturday lunchtime but the food and drinks still arrived in a timely fashion (although we were only given an hour and half for lunch due to COVID restrictions - other changes they'd made in this vein included complimentary bottles of hand sanitiser at each table and temperature checks on arrival, which made it feel quite well organised).
W. S.
absolutely excellent, had a great meal and it's just the place to go, atmosphere was also good. service was a little slow, but given how busy they were on a Saturday one would be happy to just relax and soak up the atmosphere. we would definitely recommend this restaurant.
A. G.
We went for dinner last night and for a drink before dinner and I must say both were amazing. Lovely atmosphere, beautiful setup, excellent service and lovely food and drinks, absolutely recommended, we will be back!
Y. U.
Friendly efficient staff. Great atmosphere and superb food.

There's an expectation when you visit a place like this, especially for a special occasion. I am happy to say that all aspects were well fulfilled! From service to drinks to food. A lovely experience!

We have just had a really lovely meal at the Ivy Oxford. The service was excellent. Personal and attentive but not overbearing. The food was excellent and served in good time. The atmosphere was relaxed but sophisticated and met with the high expectation set by the environment. All good. The sign of a great place is one that defines a moment in time rather than is defined by one. Thank you.

Food awesome, atmosphere so amazing!

Great staff, really attentive while not creepy. Food was amazing and not crazily priced either. Only 4 stars as my wife’s Duck starter had chillies in despite not being listed on the menu. While she hates chillis, a friend is allergic and would have suffered medically from them.
One more thing, when you get the bill ask them to remove the service charge and pay that cash. I happen to know the company takes a cut of the tip first, then HMRC leaving only a small percentage for the staff you intended to thank for their service 😉.

Mediocre
Tables packed in, loud music.
Clunky service, average food.
Amazed people go there thinking it’s a treat.
Quod is far superior.
D. M.
The atmosphere, food and service were exceptional
S. T.
The food was atrocious. Super bland and one of the appetisers even had watermelon seeds. Also, we had the soup but had to pay 4.25 quid for the bread.
So 1 star for the environment, 1 star for the great maitre d service and 1 star for the very nice manager who comp'ed us for the two non-edible meals.
S. B.
Great food and service, personally felt there were too many staff. I don't like service charges, especially for three people. I also would prefer to see all inclusive menu prices, not £x for your steak, £x for your chips etc.
D. C.
Lovely place and amazing food
K. H.
We hired the Botanical Room for a private birthday celebration on 5 September, it was absolutely fantastic. Everything from the setting, the canapés, the cocktails, the dining was faultless. The service and attention I received from the maitre d (dragama... Wrongly spelt... Sorry) and his team was outstanding. He was attentive, friendly, charming and helped ensure the evening was enjoyable for me and my guests.
It was difficult to plan with so many restrictions during these tricky times but Sarah Martin of the private booking team helped immensely.
Well done to all at The Ivy Oxford for outstanding service and quality dining. We will certainly book again
A. K.
Great afternoon tea and a lovely setting. Good service. The main meals others were having looked great too.
C. F.
What a wonderful weekend brunch. Came here for the second time and wasn't a bit disappointed. The decor is beautiful, the menu varied, the food tastes amazing and the service was second to none. Thank you for such a lovely time, we will definitely be back.
N. B.
Lovely place and professional staff ♥️♥️♥️
A. W.
Great food and service. They let us on their wifi to get some work done.
P. A.
Lovely place excellent staff excellent food one small thing the chips tasted like frozen chips you would get in a Chinese restaurant couldn’t understand definitely had better chips in other ivy
G. G.
Amazing atmosphere food was awesome.

I have already dined here three times since its opening in early November 2019. Lovely, well-trained staff; great food: and finally somewhere in Oxford that feels 'special'. I hope they manage to fend off diners whose children put their feet on the beautifully upholstered seating, and preserve the high end feel of the restaurant area. Also, fussy and entitled diners who expect a production kitchen to cater to extreme dietary demands with no notice. Upstairs, the restrooms are spotlessly clean and glamorous. The bar is pretty and nicely lit, with a great range of drinks. I recommend this to anyone appreciative of ambience and elegance. If not, there are plenty of ordinary places to go in Oxford.

Eaten in a fair few places since the pandemic situation and none as good as Oxfords Ivy!
The service was absolutely impeccable, with amazing staff.
Honestly the cleanliness and organisation was next level. I was extremely impressed.
If only every other restaurant followed suit.
The restaurant was packed but this unilke other places did not affect the the level of service recieved!
My steak was absolutely spot on.
I've not long lived in Oxford, and used the Brighton Ivy often.
The Oxford one smashes the Brighton one out the water!!
V. D.
Very popular so a bit noisy . Nice surroundings and good food.
P. F.
Good food, excellent staff and very reasonable prices for a top notch restaurant. Lovely experience.
A. W.
Didn't realise there was more than one branch of The Ivy, and we had a really nice meal. As it was the weekend they do a brunch menu which is really good value for money.
T. R.
Fabulous food and atmosphere will definately be back
T. T.
Ah The Ivy, only opened a few months ago & we were very impressed, think its an old Bank building & its got it all., Decor, Atmosphere, Food & A Team thats On The Ball. Great Menu Choice & our table of 4 had no complaints at all, Very Very Nice!! Book A Table as soon as you can. Definitely the Oxford Dining Venue to frequent.
A. F.
Very uncomfortable experience, visiting my son in Oxford, I arrived before my son, front of house confirmed waiting for one more 5 minutes later my son was refused entry and told there was no booking in my name to which he had to phone me and I had to go to the door to confirm. All very embarrassing for both of us and Im convinced it was racism possibly unconscious I dont feel a white customer would have been treated with such disdain. Our waitress was nice but it somewhat tainted our day.
H. F.
Great night out in Oxford finished with coffee in the Ivy. Although it was peak time on a friday night we were welcomed in and offered bar seats, kind attentive staff, good coffee and cream in a silver service. Beautiful flowers on the bar, stunning marble top bar, fab place for a caffeine hit or more, plenty of cocktails, the meals looked tasty. Fine relaxed atmosphere.
S. A.
Beautiful place, nice food, kind staff
K. W.
Very very nice place, good food but the pie wasn't a pie, it was stew with a pastry round popped on top. Otherwise five stars.
S.
Delicious food, very attentive service, and they even gave us a pudding for our anniversary! Will definitely go again, even if only for the fantastic interior!
s. a.
Lovely decor and surroundings. Staff were great however quality of food due to high number of covers was not up to expectations.
A. T.
AMAZING food, great drinks, wonderful service. Totally worth the price. This is a great place to go for a fancy dinner.
D. K.
Super food, great decor. Loved the buzz of the place. Only 👎 was the below average bread used for toast
L. T.

J. E.
Good food. Large portions. Go with an appetite.
S. F. (.
Love this place, very professional and upmarket, but not pretentious.
R. B.
Still early days but breakfast was a little disappointing. Service was very friendly and professional and the decor is fantastic. However the food was pretty average; cheap sausages, over-cooked eggs, cold toast, incredibly sweet pancakes. I’ll definitely come back in a few months to see if things have improved but, for now, nothing to write home about.
M. R.
Celebrated my daughters 21st with the family great venue, a little pricey but worth it. Food was excellent. Great service.
C. G.

S.
This place is insanely beautiful, like a whole different level of class.
A. D.
Welcoming staff need training. All staff need training. I went on the third night. Service was terrible. Food ok but nothing special. The Ivy Soho Brassiere is 100 times better. I wouldn’t rush to go back.

J. R.
A lovely evening meal, well presented and tasted superb. Attentive and friendly staff in delightful surroundings.
J. P.
Have visited a few times. The food has been fantastic, very tasty. Unfortunately the service can be very slow. E.g 30 mins for desert and 25 mins to pay bill (after receiving bill).
For the high prices I'd expect better.
T. W.
Lovely charming décor. Menu had many choices and the wine too. Service was always with a smile.
D. F.
Once again, perfect food, great service and lovely atmosphere. Thoroughly recommended 👍
M. M.

Lovely food in a nice setting. Bit more expensive than your average high street place but very good. The chocolate bomb is delicious!
P. G.
Favourite venue on our mini tour of Oxford, can't wait to go for afternoon tea.

Warm sourdough, fresh olives, tempura prawns, tuna carpaccio, lobster linguine, premium gin, creme brulee. Great service. Covid secure including temperature checks at the door. Good!

It's been a long time I finished my meal. It's the first time I will get a warm cognac in a restaurant 10/10 for me.
K.
Lovely atmosphere, very busy, food prepared very quickly but delicious
L. A.
Lovely cream tea but background music was awful and unnecessary.
A. S.

Beautiful building and stunning interior, this place is a feast for the eyes and the attention to detail is faultless.
Enjoyed my breakfast here. Staff friendly and attentive. Will definitely be returning.
A. S.
Really lovley restaurant went there for Brunch pleasant staff. Food came out on time. Temperature checks at door and booking is a must!
a. R.
We are 3 elderly ladies! We had a lovely meal with excellent food and service.however we felt the background music was superfluous and were concerned that in a crowded restaurant the tables were not well distanced in line with covid 19 precautions
G. J.
Phenomenal service tonight. Our mother got married today and was made to feel like absolute royalty on her special day. Thanks to all staff for going the extra mile.
S. G.
Lovely meal for our anniversary, great atmosphere the staff could not of been any more attentive superb
T. E.
Service was not great. Removing plates before we had even finished chewing our food made everything feel very rushed. Food was great, but not exceptional.
T. B.
Amazing decor. Trendy vibe and food was just amazing. Staff extremely professional, they were there if needed but not intrusive.
Excellent. Will definitely return.
D. C.

D. K.
Excellent service, lovely food, good atmosphere. Staff entered the Halloween Spirit.
C. S.
Very good all round will go again
R.
A very average experience unfortunately. The blackened cod tasted awful and the service timid. There are better options in Oxford.
S. F.
Arrived at the ivy no seat at bar so I stood at the end of the bar where I was told to I was then told I was in the way . Shepherds pie needed heating up and no champagne for my birthday friend very disapointing especially as the previous week her friend was given some the staff denied it said it wasnt standard decor lovely but dark
K. S.
Great service and food
R. C.
Afternoon tea was very decadent, a real treat. Although you are definitely paying for the experience.
K. R.
The food was OK, nothing special.
The dishes were very small.
The bill was too high.
No value for money !
M. W.
Great meal again fantastic staff
B. U.
Always relaxed atmosphere with beautiful breakfast. Salute restaurants who go all out on their decor - decadent - like you’ve stepped into another world
S. A.
May be a gem of the city. Good tasty food and at a very reasonable price. Well definitely visit again.
N. S.
Delicious food and elegant surroundings. It's great. Look, the service could be slicker, but it's not London. This is the best of Oxford. It can get noisy...
R. H.
Great experience and food. I had the Blackened Cod and it was superb.
J. S.
Most of our food was good, but the lobster pasta was completely flavorless. 4 stars for the absolutely beautiful restaurant and great service.
