One of the most striking features of Turtle Bay is its ambience. I found it quite enjoyable with good Caribbean music. The staff are very warm and attentive, but the service is slightly slow - may be due to the fact that it was Saturday night and it was quite crowded. Food and drinks were also good. We were 4 people and started with squid, sweet corn fritters, Prawn and Trini doubles. The prawn wasn't very tasty, but the others were really good. For the main course we ordered Bay Jerk Chicken and that was quite tasty. 2-for-1 cocktails are good, but the serving size is smaller compared to many other places. Overall, a decent experience !

I need more than 5 stars to rate my experience at Turtle Bay. My friend and I were visiting for the weekend and stumbled upon this hidden gem last min. Everyone from security to waiters and management were all so helpful and friendly. A special thanks to Luke and AJ for making our evening even more memorable. If in doubt of a drink, worry not, Luke can recommend exactly what you need. 100% recommend to anyone if you are in Oxford and looking for good vibes, friendly faces, delicious food and of course loaded cocktails.

Turtle Bay is amazing. The food was delicious. Never have I tasted chicken so tender. The sauce was amazing. This was my first time trying Caribbean food and it won't be my last. Will definitely be going again. The bottomless Brunch was well worth the price. Next time I'll try different things on the menu. I can see why you have to book way in advance. The staff were so friendly and just so good. All I can say is everything was Amazing. If you get the chance to go to Turtle Bay just do it. You would be missing out on a fantastic all round experience if you don't go.

30 July review (3 star): The tastes still okay BUT I feel a bit disappointed with the portion of back ribs which "shrinks" (possibly other menus as well?), as you can see in the picture: more bones than the meat itself. 4 months ago I was so happy eating here, but today I think it's no longer the same. I personally would rather have the price increased by 2-3 pound rather than having less food quality (perhaps because of the inflation?). May be I will come back once the Ukraine war is over.. Review 4 months ago (5 star): Excellent taste of Caribbean food. Coming from Asian background, we easily enjoyed our dinner here. Look at pic, the yellow sauce is so tasty (like mustard but less intense and more sweet). The portion is very good too!

The server Monty was the nicest lad going. He really made me and my group feel comfortable and welcome. He made suggestions and provided us with all our food and drinks with a top-tier attitude! The bartender George was an expert with his drinks and got them to us so quickly, he's great at what he does. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone because of these guys. Easy 5/5

Such an amazing time at bottomless Brunch, made by our smiley waitress Becca, nothing was too much trouble for her and even during a busy Sunday afternoon where she was evidently working extremely hard she still made time to check on our table and ordered more cocktails for us. Thanks Becca for making our bottomless brunch experience great! Food was also really good, just what you need while drinking, nothing too heavy. We all loved the flavour combinations and not everything was spicy so that was good for us! We Will defiantly be returning for another bottomless brunch! 😊

Delicious food and our waiter, Harry was lovely. Very helpful and apologetic at our wait times. We were there 45 minutes before our drinks arrived because the bar was overwhelmed from the unlimited brunch people who were still there at 5pm. This meant that our mains came out an hour into our booking time and we had to leave after our main course as they needed the table back. Not Harry’s fault but we felt the staff couldn’t cope with the demand.

Came for the ‘bottomless brunch’ on the recommendation of a friend. Got the vegan yardbird, which was tasty but not very big - handily, I also ordered some spiced fries (not included in the brunch price). But the whole point of this thing was the bottomless cocktails. I made my way through eight of them in the two hours and left feeling comfortably tipsy. They were varied and tasty but not too strong. My waiter Harry was great - friendly and attentive but not at all pushy. Would definitely recommend.

Pass by this small lane by accident and decided to try it for the first time! I tell you this bar is excellent! Though they ran out of beef stake, this beef rib is really nice! Coffee is also cheap only 2.8 compared to 3+ prices in Gloucester green. Will come again

Perhaps worth noting that the bouncer might be a little friendlier and not leave customers stranded in the street in pouring rain, given that the restaurant has a vestibule that one can wait in while reservation etc is checked.

We stayed in Oxford for a couple of days and Turtle Bay was by far our favourite restaurant. We arrived 10 minutes before Happy Hour ended and our server came over right away to make sure our drink order went in their system before the promotion ended. The food was so good. I wish we had gone back a second time to sample more off the menu. We had the mac and cheese bites and I had the eggplant curry. 10/10 would recommend to anyone visiting Oxford.

Bloke deserves a raise because he made our night being chatty and suggesting amazing drinks to my group. I'll give credit where credit is due. I didn't expect the food here to be so good since most reviews talk about the drinks. And yes the drinks were good - got the happy hour deal for the koka kolada - but the fried chicken w/ mac and cheese really stole the show. The sauces on the table are actually spicy and flavorful and complimented the chicken. Also had the chili brownie w/ ice cream, it was alright. I really recommend the fried chicken.

What a hidden gem in an uninspiring alley way, was greeted by a friendly guy the moment I had stepped in and he cared for our table throughout the whole course. The barmaid also instantly knew when I was looking for the washroom too, she pointed the way, behind the yellow door by the bar. The washroom is unisex. Notably, there's 'no service charge' automatically slapped on the bill, so be generous folks. Yes, not everything great in Oxford located within the Westgate Complex, its true! If you like turtles, a must go place. Just kidding, but cowabunga, even Michelangelo would be ditching for some Jamaican food instead of the usual pizza chains that has overtaken the entire stretch of the George Street. Try out the Kingston cheesy toastie. If you love your rum like Captain Jack Sparrow, gar, you are into a lot of surprises on the dessert menu and going for more drinks after the meal. Overall, this bar and restaurant was a great find for me, a typical day strolling and uninspired by the known franchises nearby or cuisines known too well already. This place stood out like a tavern filled with gold and shiny gems, but likely just the reflection of the sunlight on a good sunny day. The background jukebox playing reggae while pouring some Aunt May's sauce on my chicken wings, made my day😎

We then ordered food, which took quite a long time to come out, our other waiter offered us a discount for the wait, which was very appreciated. I loved the food and the service. I dropped one star because the music was so loud, I couldn't talk to my friends. We literally couldn't hear each other. We ate our food really fast so we could leave to find somewhere where we could talk. I don't mind music, but it just doesn't need to be that loud in a restaurant, the speaker was distorting above our table because it was that loud.

The music was great except no Rhianna was played however this does not lower the score because the food and drinks where amazing. Had a birthday meal here with the family, Chloe our waitress was amazing, service was amazing, my son (11) and daughter (8) thoroughly impressed with food, it got quite busy but a all the staff seen to gel together very well. Had my first visit here on New Years Eve, and I've got to say I was highly impressed. Funky theme and layout to the restaurant, and a decent amount of options on the menu. Vegetarians and vegans are well catered for. Staff were lovely, and patient when attending to our large group. Only niggle was that the toilets could do with regularly checking as they weren't the cleanest nor was there spare toilet roll available.

Well, this is a fun place! Brilliant value, delicious veggie burger (my companions had more Carribbean food) in a very jolly, regae-filled restaurant. The staff are friendly and efficient, the place is colourful but very clean and well-ordered in terms of Covid-19, and it's just around the corner from the Ashmolean. They serve lunch until three, and the home -made soft drinks are absolutely gorgeous - I particularly recommend the mango one. We thought this place was terrific, and we'll be coming back.

Really impressed. Food is very reasonable and all 7 of us enjoyed our meals a lot. Worth bearing in mind most dishes had a kick spice-wise but in a good way. Drinks were more creative than normal - there's an emphasis on rum but I also had a non rum cocktail and a cider... Certainly not your average chain restaurant fayre in that and many other respects. We went around Christmas time so it was pretty raucous. Not sure I'd go there for a romantic meal but for a proper night out with mates it really hit the spot.

Was delighted to find a surprising range of vegan options. Found the prices to be actually below average for vegan food so that's a plus even more with the Eat Out 50% off gov scheme. Aiva served our group and we couldn't be more happy with his customer service! I had the Mutherclucker Burger with spiced fries (absolutely top notch fries) and a chilli brownie with ice cream for dessert. The dessert was delicious but I do have to say the chilli was too much for my taste, looking forward to come back and try the coconut tart as well as different options in the menu. Will be coming back!

There is a great place with a reggae mood and nice decoration. I like to go there specially in the happy hour to get some cocktails and sometime to eat spicy food! The music is amazing too. But I thing the staff should be more professional because usually they are students just working to get some money to spent at Atik.

The Turtle Bay is a very stunning restaurant. The decor is true to it’s caribbean influences and the atmosphere is very welcoming. Staff were also very friendly. The cocktails were spectacular, good place to go for a drink. Food and service wise is what caused them to lose out on a star. - Food came piping hot though our server messed up our order as he misheard our order and did not repeat what he had written down before heading back to the kitchen. (Mistakes happen, it’s fine - server was super friendly and gave us the correct order) I had ordered their jerk ribs - The jerk sauce was very well made, not too overpowering and you can still enjoy the rest of the dish. Sadly, the ribs themselves were not up to par. Poorly seasoned, cannot taste the ribs at all. The chips were also disappointing as they were clearly microwaved. Overall, the food needs a litte bit of improvement but aside from that I did enjoy my time at the turtle bay.
