East is an amazing place for Oriental styles of cuisine. This place is an absolute gem 💎 cannot stress enough. The ambience and portion sizes are great. The food will just make you go wow!!. The homemade coconut icecream is the best I've ever eaten. The service is perfect they give you time and space but at the same time very attentive. Be (don't know if I got her name spelling right) is a standout. A must visit place while in Peterborough. Good food lovely location and very good service.

We visited tonight as a large group of friends. Unfortunately the restaurant couldn't fit us in but advised us to reserve an area in the bar downstairs. They went out of their way to accommodate us, bringing food downstairs and the food was amazing. Thank you to Dougie and the serving staff for looking after us so well.

Fantastic location, amazing food. The waiting staff give an exceptional level of service! The only thing that let down our experience was the shared bathrooms with the pub downstairs. As it was a hot day, the pub beer garden was very busy and the toilets were hot and smelly. There was also some drug use happening in the bathroom which was especially unpleasant due to the fact that we were dining with our children.

We love this restaurant, we come here as often as we can and today was first day open inside after lockdown 2021. It did not disappoint for my mum in laws 70th birthday, the staff we so amazing and on time and onto every order even after such a long time off. They managed to hide the cake and then come out and sing happy bday at the perfect time, cannot thank them enough for making this special after a tough year. The food as usual so nice and authentic, I’m vegetarian and we got a mix of meat for the others and veggie for me. They did a tofu pad Thai (they are amazing at doing a tofu dish for everything) which I absolutely love. Highly recommend coming here for the food and atmosphere.

Good food, great atmosphere. Really good location with out side seating area if you want to carry on the party after your meal. Staff really let this place down with their poor service. Maybe it's just cause they're so busy but really stood out to me. 1 example - "Hi, we have a table booked for 9" guy points and mumbles take a seat without even looking at us. One other customer clearly wasn't getting it and had to be told 3 times to take a seat and wait. A little embarrassed, felt sorry for him.

Went in for the Sunday buffet for the first time at this restaurant. There was some live band performance outside the restaurant and there's bar downstairs. The food was good but the variety was limited. They had a pork, chicken, beef and fish dish with 2 vegetarian variety, a plain rice, veg noodles, and 4 starters. They charge 10% service charge even for their buffet. There's a parking near by or you can park in asda and walk. The ambience is good and the decor is modern unlike their competitor.

Penang curry has recently become one of my favourite dishes (I don't know why it's taken me so long to discover it!) And the dish served here was absolutely perfect. The staff were super efficient, really welcoming and the waitor was up for a bit of banter, which is always a plus in my opinion. All topped off by a beautifully crafted local "Oakham Ale". Lovely.

Great selection of Pan Asian foods on the menu. Beautiful view by the river. This is a cosy and lovely place for special dinner/events/celebrations. However the bill is abit pricey, the taste is slightly too heavy for me (the starter platter) . FYI bill auto adds 10% SC. Wanted to try the Mother's day buffet but told it was only available for lunch and not for dinner. Oh well, maybe try next year lol.

I came here for a solo lunch while I read my book and it was such a great idea! It's a really serene atmosphere as you look at the swans right outside the window so yes, get a window seat! I had their pig shoulder for starters, egg fried rice and some spicy Thai seafood sauce and the flavour was so rich! The portions were pretty impressive too for the quality and price. They take reservations for groups too so you can surely celebrate something here. I only withheld the 5th star because they could be more friendly and welcoming to add to the experience. They are a bit flat when you walk in and while you order.

First visit to east for my boyfriend and I and have to say we were impressed. The food was delicious and the puds amazing. The view of the river and watching the swans and ducks was relaxing. My only negetive is it was a bit cold inside the boat so will take an extra jumper next time. It was also nice to visit Charters, the bar under the restaurant on the boat,where we spent another hour or so relaxing with a drink and listening to the live entertainment. We will definatly visit again in the not too distant future 😀

Me and my partner went here for the first time a few weeks ago. We had the best experience. Staff were amazing and took the time to have a chat and joke with us. The man who I believe was floor manager or owner was walking around chatting with everyone. The food was next to none it was the best food I’ve ever tasted, hats off to the chief. They gave us a window seat and the views were lovely. The food was bought out and displayed in front of us lovely so gave a bit more of a five star experience. Felt very high end. You could hear charters music but we went quite late so we expected this! I think it added to the ambience. Over all a very good experience and we will be going again!

Very tasty food, a variety of cuisines and fairly priced. £10 Tuesday menu. Plus you’re eating on a barge, which is unique. My husband got the Black Pepper Sea Bass and I had Gang Phed. Yum! My only complaint is finding two long black hairs - one on the table when we were seated, and another that was dangling from my plate of food when served. Not very appetizing.

Sunday buffet, what more do you need. Amazing price for some amazing food. The Singapore curry with vegetables was sublime, had to go back for more. The décor is amazing, the view of the river enhances your experience and the food is to die for. I had the sharing platter and every single dish was superb, the flavours, the texture, the smell and the presentation. Try the Thai Green Curry with some coconut rice, the mixture of spices melds into a truly unique and jaw dropping experience. The staff are friendly, competent and unobtrusive yet always at hand, amazing! My compliments to all staff especially the chefs, go look at their minute kitchen and you will be impressed. Thank you all for making my night a truly memorable one.

This Restaurant on an old Dutch Barge was close to our Hotel and having read good reviews we decided to book. We were not disappointed, the choice of dishes was good and the staff friendly and helpful. I had Beef Rendang with Coconut rice,tasty and not too spicy, my Wife had Pad Ga Praw with Pad Mee Noodles. She said it was very spicy and lovely. All in all an enjoyable evening 👍👍

If you like South East Asian food it’s hard to find a better restaurant than East, on the banks of the River Nene in Peterborough. The food is delicious, perfectly cooked and just the right amount so that we felt satisfied but not over full and the prices were reasonable, although you do need to be wary of the compulsory tip (i.e. a service charge) being added to your bill without warning. With friendly trained staff, white linen tablecloths, excellent food and a relaxing atmosphere, it is a great place for lunch or dinner. This wasn’t our first visit and it won’t be our last.

Lovely restaurant and bar on a barge serving the best eastern cuisine I've tasted in the UK. Had a range of starters and main dishes from Thai to Malaysian and Japanese and they all tasted so authentically good. Loved the whole atmosphere on the barge and the surrounding beer garden. Great place to chill out for drinks and finish the evening with a lovely dinner and amazing service.

Great Sunday meal at a great price... buffet! Got to try some new dishes I'd not normally dare to. Plus some traditional dishes like a quality chicken satay and proper prawn crackers. Very noisy place and crowded. One can go without prior table booking. The food we ordered was authentic Thai and Chinese. So enjoyed it. Vegetables dumpling was not up to the mark..staff was good and quick service. Dessert platter was amazing, cheese cake with raspberry sauce, two types of ice cream scoops, pineapple fritter, fried vanilla ice cream, browny pieces...may be I missed something...all for just £16. I'm going to make a somewhat bold statement and call East one of the best Restaurants in the city. It’s not cheap, but the food is excellent- do yourself a favour and have the tempura vegetables. It’s in a beautiful, beautiful location on the river, the interior is very charming, and have I mentioned that you need to try the tempura vegetables? If anything, their dessert menu is a little disappointing, but I am picking nits.

Visited east twice now and the food Is always amazing and the scenery so romantic with all the swans floating around however the service just doesn’t do it for me. I’d definitely give 5 stars if the service was as good and left as much impression on me as the food. It doesn’t feel like you get the waitors full attention (if you’re lucky enough to have just one during your whole visit) or that they even love their job. Just a smile or a “welcome” would have probably brought it up to 5 stars.

Really good food, we went on a Tuesday and got the menu for 10£ so very good value for money. The massaram curry and the wontons were great. Customer service was on point too and quick serving of the food. Drinks were a bit on the pricey side. Definitely would recommend to come here and make a reservation prior it is busy!

Excellent meal and staff where attentive but unlike other restaurants not constantly checking so you could enjoy your meal in peace, but where always ready to serve you once you got their attention, if they where doing something else either got back to you as soon as they could or let another member of staff aware that you required something else. Return as often as we can and will be back for lunch on 31st of this month and to enjoy their excellent food.

East is a lovely little restaurant, atop of Charters bar on the River Nene. Despite first thoughts, the best doesn't rock whilst you're on it. So it's safe to assume it's OK for those who suffer from motion sickness. The staff were friendly and polite. East is definitely more of a place for dates, business meetings and special events. The food was amazing, following typical Thai cuisine. Personally, their rice is the best thing on the menu, quickly followed by their tempura vegetables. Price wise, East is up there as one of the mor expensive places go eat in Peterborough. Three people, having set menus and two glasses of cola set us back nearly £100. Please bear in mind they add a service charge on the bill too, which isn't mentioned on the menu or anywhere. Over all, an interesting and different place to eat in Peterborough. Will definitely visit again. Maybe for my birthday next year

We have been going here for a few years now and was surprised that no one pointed out about the service charge.
