Reviews of Paul Pry Table Table
D. C.
It was my 70th birthday treat so l had my friends to help me celebrate, on walking in l was pleased with the venue a good clean and friendly atmosphere and the service was excellent. My choice of food was very nice but small could have done with larger portions scampi and chips, the table service was faultless and the staff were very keen to help. A good night out and yes I would recommend it to my friends, well done PAUL FRY. P.S. and thanks again for the card and gift. OUTSTANDING.
C. P.
Service to start was good, drinks order taken right away. Then we waited 20 mins for our food order to be taken. There was plenty of staff buzzing around but didn't notice us.
Food was fine and the server was attentive after our food arrived.
S. S.
Went for my mother in law's 80th birthday. Staff met all our needs regarding seating us in an accessible table. Food was good. They even took a cake I made and brought it out with candles lit. Manager was extremely friendly and helpful.
J. R.

Superb breakfast, perfectly cooked by Matt the chef. Excellent and friendly service by Jan, had a good chat about how hard it is working in the service trade in the post-covid era!
G. B.
Food ok for the money lunch special 2 for under a tenner burger ok and had a South western burger which is chicken strips in a burger bun but it was ok was enough for under a tenner staff ok but as usual in these places you can't judge how busy it will be and they where definitely under staffed today but still professional and friendly under stress
A. K.
Good way to wind up or down after a long day of training. Glad this spot is adjacent to my hotel earlier this week. Nice staff, good food. Staff recommended Raspberry Gin (for which I had a double) with Mediterranean Tonic served with the Chocolate and Raspberry Torte, yum yum.
B.
The meals we had was nice too eat.
It been a lot since we was last time we went here.
P. E.
Food was nice cooked perfectly
Service good

Excellent value for money for both the evening meals and breakfasts. Jan did a marvelous job with her table service. Thank you. We'll be back.
M. B.
Most items missing eg. Maple syrup no pancakes. No teaspoons, rude service from one staff member eho made it clear she didnt want to be there and was coughing and spluttering.Toaster was terribly slow. However cooked breakfast was good and worth the money
j. c.
Love this place, great food and top class service. Kevin and the team are wonderful, can't do enough to help us! 100% recommend 👍

No Haddock & Chips at 5pm on a Saturday... gonna be a looong night for the waiting staff - Waitress was lovely and very attentive
J. M.
Amazing...proper social distance seating..great friendly service
Although menu is much reduced than before lockdown especially not much choice for vegetarian what we had was very good
s. B. (. b.
Stopping at premium inn next door nice pub meals
A. G.
Best roast dinner in a long time, actual crispy roast potatoes. Delicious. Staff were very friendly.
W. B.
Can choose bar meal or restaurant service. Enjoyed my bar meal, good service and will be back next time I stay at the hotel.
E. M.
We had lunch Monday pm, we had smothered chicken which was very nicely cooked. My sister had the gammon also very nicely cooked. Followed by coffee overall had a very nice time. Just a couple of negatives I forgot to present my loyalty card, then remembered later, but told it was too late to present it, I wasn't asked if I had one. Also water leaking in disabled toilet in ladies. Floor wet so could be a hazard. And no lock on the other toilet door. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars.
C. A. M.
Service was great. Waitress was so friendly and always smiling.
P. F.
Brilliant place . The food is really good with good size portions and definitely value for money. The staff went above and beyond to cater for 17 of us, getting all our food out together with no mistakes. They were extremely helpful , very polite and cheerful. I would definitely recommend this place.
A. H.
Nice pub but waited ages for meal after ordering
T. A.
Always have a great experience here. Staff are always friendly and they have a usual table for us which is close to toilet so I can watch my eldest go and come back and close to where the baby chairs are for my my youngest. The staff really are great I have never had a problem here
M. S.
Visited for the first time since lockdown last Sunday, and considering that it wasn't particularly busy, the service was really slow. Staff that dealt with us were polite and the food was alright (lacking in vegetarian options due to food shortages) but everything seemed to go at a snails pace despite their being several members of waiting staff hanging around. We didn't feel particularly looked after and won't be rushing back.
D. B.
Breakfast beautifully set out & cooked breakfast tasty & a runny egg too!
G. P.
2 great meals for £8.99
S. S.
The food was very good, a simple menu with good food options. The service of the food was swift and presented well.
L. R.
Costa coffee was closed, so my friend and I went to the Paul Pry for a coffee. We had the coffee and mini dessert deal and got a Costa latte and hot chocolate brownie for four pounds something. Bargain and sat on the comfy sofas. Great social distancing and lively friendly staff
A. C.
Food was lovely and the service from our waiter Rhys was on point. Food came in good time and was often seeing if we needed anything which was nice. Martin behind the bar was very friendly and helpful as was Kevin. We will definitely be visiting again
M. G.
Visited here when staying at the adjacent Premier Inn. All good service and clean and tidy decor. Breakfast was excellent, all seemed freshly cooked.
R. J.
Birthday meal with the family. Brilliant food and excellent service. Staff couldn't do enough.thank you for a good night
A. T.
Big Christmas group meal, food was fast and okay quality, make your own cocktails on the menu was very useful. The manager Darren and all the staff were excellent!
D. R.
Lovely meal, fast and efficient service and a Manager that went out of his way to make sure I could have a non standard meal that was Coeliac friendly, from the menu. Thank you so much.
L. W.
I have to say very nice meal and our waiter was fantastic
G. G.
Not been in Paul pry for about 15 years after leaving area, until this week, I took my daughter for a meal to celebrate her 16th birthday food was good, staff were excellent I was very Impressed with the fact the pub gave her a card and a gift after overhearing a mention of her birthday.
Paul pry was always one of the familys favourites when I was young it was great to take one of my own children to an old haunt and find it as good as atmosphere as its always been.
H. L.
My daughter and I had a lovely meal here, the food was great and the service even better. The manager Kevin, went over and above to make sure we enjoyed our experience. Would definitely go again.
N. R.
Had a lunch at 2pm with wife and friends. Not many diners at that time but it was enjoyable. The staff were excellent and the food was very good. Would recommend it for good basic pub meals.
A. C.
Booked for lunch, accept totally that they have some issues with suppliers, but there was a very good selection of food, thoroughly enjoyed our meals.
The service was good, again accepting the shortage of staff, however our waitress Louisa was excellent.
Definitely recommend this place
A. G.
Premier Inn pub serving the usual fayre. Decent enough
G. M.
Jan was super friendly and helpful, she made our breakfast experience easy and served us with a smile.
The food was hot and freshly cooked and and we will have no problem going back for breakfast again.
E. H.
Very slow service the day I went, but didn't seem overly busy. Staff shortage perhaps? However, food was very tasty. Loved the chicken on the starter platter.
M. F.
Great food, lovely staff. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and is very welcoming. Ideal for the solitary traveller like myself, families or couples.
W. P.
Thought we'd try this for lunch, Food ok but had a lot better elsewhere, lots of menu items unavailable, Food not hot but edible, service speed and waitress excellent
S. Z.
It was okay we went I think at a busy time of the morning the food wasn't the best and did take a while to come out. The continental breakfast was okay to however their wasn't much selection left on the fresh part apart their was only croissant, crumpets and bread which was a shame.
However the staff were friendly and apologies for the wait.
D. I.
I booked a table for a family breakfast while the half price "Eat out to help out" offer was running. Price wise, no complaints as it was super cheap for what you get. However, the spacing between tables seemed significantly closer than the recommended 2 metres, and this wasn't the cleanest restaurant I've eaten at. The toast was a bit rubbery and the pain au chocolat's we ordered were a little overdone. I've rated higher than I perhaps would have done if these were "normal" times as I know things are difficult for everyone right now. But I'd recommend setting you're expectations low if your planning a visit.
R. D.
Always helpful staff on hand, and Jan even offers a lunchtime snack to go on with at Breakfast, going the extra mile! You are made to feel welcome and get good food to go with it.
C. F.
Pleasantly surprised on our recent visit. We took my disabled mother in law who's in a wheelchair. We managed to sit her reasonably comfy by a table. My meal was not bad. I had the battered halloumi, chips and mushy peas and I had no complaints. Others in our party enjoyed the chicken escalope, gammon and ribs. The only complaint was that the chicken that came with the ribs was a little dry. Other than that, not bad. It's not fine dining but edible food, pleasant staff.
J. C.
Staff very nice and helpful..desserts nice but very disappointed with the main course. Definitely not worth the money..small portion overcooked. Didn't look appetising and certain didn't taste nice. Chips greasy.
Shame very disappointed.
J. G.
A nice old pub with friendly, efficient staff. Prompt service with a smile, good value for the cooked breakfast which arrived quickly. Nice breakfast with full upgrade options for those who need a big breakfast to start the day. I have recommended it to others for the above reasons.
P. B.
A lovely place to visit. Clean and welcoming. Good variety of beers to be enjoyed. Food reasonably priced and well cooked and presented. We visited late afternoon and it was fairly quiet, but the staff say that it gets very busy later due to guests from the adjoining Premier Inn. Easy access for people with mobility problems.
B. D.
The Good
Steak was decent and cooked well. Good portion of chips. Table service was nice and the staff were efficient and nice. Breakfast was decent. Atmosphere good and restaurant pretty well presented.
The Bad
They forgot to serve the sausage I ordered with breakfast. The breakfast coffee was served from a big dispenser instead of a machine that you can pick "latee" etc from. I understand this as they serve costa at a premium from behind the bar so not a big issue.
The Ugly
Nothing of note.
D. B.
Service: actually pretty good, chap behind the bar is friendly and welcoming, staffing levels seem appropriate so waiting times are generally short.
Quality: again not to shabby, food is hot when it arrives, portion sizes are pretty good and cooked well. Major downfall.... mash tastes like instant. For the prices being charged I would have expected real mash.
Price: middle of the road, some items seem such as the mixed grill seem a little on the high side but on the whole not bad.
Choice: this is where it falls apart, menu is very limited compared to other pub chains. Basic nutrition questions are also an issue, I asked if the lasagne had mushrooms in it (I'm severely allergic) and no one not even the cook could answer me.
On the whole.... not bad but I wouldn't make the effort to come here if there was somewhere more local.
G. B.
Fantastic meal once again, staff very helpful and polite never had a bad experience here! Definitely my favourite place to come for a meal and drink😊
T. a. W.
Brilliant find. We had been at the ice rink with the kids and needed a family meal - we were dubious but this turned out to be perfect. The staff were attentive without being intrusive and served our meals in good time with smiles and relevant chatter. Some choices on the menu were unusual and I really liked the chicken forestiere. the other adults had grills which were perfectly cooked and served. There was also a lot of choice on the children's menu. Only one downside - little toilet paper left, they are awaiting deliveries.
M. M.
Great food, service and staff. Toilets unclean and lock not working on one of them. Hope the loos aren't a reflection of the kitchen.
J. E.
Warmly welcomed into the Paul Pry for breakfast this morning by Jan our waitress who was attentive but not intrusive and ensured we had everything we needed. Breakfast arrived, cooked by Josh who had come into work today on his day off to support a colleague who had been taken ill.
The breakfast was one of the best we'd had out for a while. Good selection to choose from, good quality bacon and sausages and the eggs were perfectly poached and still runny in the middle.
Lovely start to the day.
R. M.
Excellent service , staff are great and helpful. Food service really quick. And quality of food is great. Very reasonable price to. Highly recommend.
A. B.
Good snap great staff priced ok its worth 5*
C. J.
Nice n handy opposite Morrisons, an ambient place w lots of nooks & crannies. Unfortunately our small group was in one where the sound level of music was v hard to speak over. But other nooks seemed quieter. Good choice of food too, & even a few vegetarian options.
T. D.
Amazing service from Jan who went the extra mile to make sure I was happy and enjoying the breakfast here. Better service than most hotels I've stayed at this month.
G. J.
Not a pleasant welcome or very helpful. Menu isn't that good and my starter had a dip that been sat in the open for so long it had a film covering it. Main wasn't anything to rave about ether and gave up before a dessert... Very dissatisfied 😒
I think I may have just experienced a bad day on Sunday as for the rest of the week the staff, food and cleanliness has been spot on. Sorry for the original remarks but leaving them there to show sometimes we need to accept a one off bad day 😀
S. B.
Recent visit was very poor compared to our previous experiences. Service was very slow & the server looked very uncomfortable & sweaty. We had to chase up our drinks order. It took nearly 1 hour for the main course to arrive & when it did it was warm, not hot & not very tasty. For dessert, we ordered 3 x caramel apple betty, thinking this would compensate for the unappetising mains. Bearing in mind that The Paul Pry was almost famous for this desert, we were deeply disappointed to receive a small portion of apple pie, which tasted like tinned apple, with 2 small blobs of caramel on top, which could not be tasted. Even at half price, it was not good value. Very disappointing.
A. R.
Reasonably good meal. Would come again to try other menu items.
k. S.
I upgraded my chips to sweet potato fries and they were way overcooked...very disappointing. We didn't see a waiter/tress until we had nearly finished our meal when she asked I told her the fries were overcooked and she offered to get me fresh but we had nearly finished our meal, the rest of the meal was fine. I think I should not have had to pay for upgrading the chips considering I couldn't eat the half that were burnt and hard, I also think that should have come from the restaurant not from me complaining. This is why I've only rated them 3*.
R. C.
First of all most of the staff here are the very definition of customer service, they are friendly, listen to what you say, knowledgeable and very keen to help. I am even on first name terms with some.
Breakfast is amazing, the continental breakfast is totally yummy - eat as much as you like. Cereal, fruit, toast, croissants etc etc. The cooked breakfast is far too good as well. One thing that really impressed me was when people asked for items not on the menu eg fried bread, it wasn't a problem at all. Again staff outstanding in every way.
Evening meals for me were not quite as scrumptious but still really nice especially the lasagna. But again wonderful staff which makes up for any blip with food. The other thing is the tasty rewards card is brilliant value, doesn't take long to start getting money off or free meals. (oh and it's free too).
The only bit that let's it down (and this isn't down to the Paul Pry but Whitbread) is that it needs a face-lift regarding decor.
Very highly recommended (especially breakfast).
N. R.
Really nice food let down by out of date kids menus on the tables leading to unnecessary confusion and petty service behind the tills (one server only TBH). A couple of incidents that could have been avoided with some common sense. Normally enjoy a good meal here so hopefully a one off.
K. C.
Lovely Sunday lunch. Veggie Wellington excellent as was my hubby's burger, although his portion of chips was on the small side. Frenchie was our waitress, very friendly & polite, as was Heather who prepared our bill. Great value for money & on today's visit I would definitely recommend.
P. P. L.
A typical ' pub/ food chain offer offering decent value. Nothing spectacular in terms of menu but isn't outrageously expensive. I attend a regular breakfast meeting there. A good English breakfast (depends on who the chef is depends on the quality of the finished product) but the serving staff are good and it represents very good vale for £8.99 as it's all you can eat, freshly cooked (see above) and endless coffee/ drinks etc.
I forget it's there but for locals and hotel guests it certainly meets a need.
G. W.
We have had many very good meals at the Paul Pry. Today was a tad dissapointing having visited for the first time during the afternoon period. Confirmed by management that it is a different day chef to the evening one and the anticipated quality was not there. The management dealt with our concerns immediately with a more than generous discount on the bill. It has also to be said that the waitress was in need of a course in customer relations and not to the same mark as normal. As concerns were dealt with professionally by the manager we will continue to patronise and recommend the Paul Pry as a good value place to eat out and put today's experience down to a Paul Pry 'off day', that we all have!
j. g.
We went on Thursday night. We were a party of 5 adults. Our food bill came to £77 and our drinks total was roughly the same. We were quite happy with everything (even though we had to wait for close on an hour for our food) until the bill arrived. One item was 30p for gravy. This was extra gravy but in a very small jug. None of us have EVER been charged for gravy, wherever we have been in the WORLD. Apparently this charge was down to the kitchen Manager. DISGUSTING!!!!
J. P.
I do like the Paul pry the food is good ,hot well presented on the plate the place is clean warm lighting in places a little to dull but not enough to put you of your food. But do fiend the staff a little standoffish but my be that is me .apart from that one thing I am happy to go there after all I go for the food. Though I do wish a smile or two would not go amiss when you walk in .
B. Y.
The good was great value and taste beautiful, very helpful staff, drinks took a bit long to arrive,
K. M.
Went with a large group of friends with children of all ages. Good food. The staff managed well with breaking a bill between the various families. Everything arrived quickly, all minor issues fixed skillfully. Reasonable prices.
R. H.
We had a really lovely evening ... Chose the Festive menu which was excellent... Plenty of choice, well presented and extremely tasty. The staff are always so helpful and friendly and genuinely want to make sure their customers have a great time. Credit to you all ..and thank you.
Q. S.
Brilliant food, brilliant drinks, but the tables were in bad enough locations to loose this place a star
J. P.
First time not up to usual standard. It was Sunday Lunch time and the dining room was not up to its usual standard. It was not over-busy and we had to wait to be served everytime for each course. Maybe it was an exceptionally hot day which we hope caused the wait. It was not just us and the dining room was not overcrowded.
H. S.
Very nice food, great service and a generally nice aesthetic to place (when the football is not on).
Good facilities all around and disabled friendly layout which is a huge plus in my book!
Definitely will be visiting again
H. A.
Excellent service from my friend Kenny very friendly staff
C. M.
Had a family birthday here. Great service and friendly staff who can't do enough for you. Great tasty food served at just the right pace. Good location and prices. Would recommend and return here.
H. G.
Always receive great service in here. Great for all types of occasions from a few drinks to a big family meal. The staff are friendly and always ensure you enjoy your time there
S. B.
Just held my wedding reception this Saturday here from manager down it was made amazing experience all guests enjoyed atmosphere and buffet food was 100% spot on topped off by fairy cakes Would definitely recommend for others looking for reception venue😀👍
J. S.
Very good experience at Paul Pry Peterborough today for a family meal to celebrate my husband's birthday. Food excellent and service very good. Especially our server Kirsty. She was friendly, helpful and professional. Well done and thank you.
s. d.
Lovely day good company great food
C. H.
Quite a nice place to eat. Sometimes service is a little slow and inconsistent, but it seems popular with locals every evening and can be quite lively. As a guest of the local hotel, lively is not what I’m looking for after a long drive, but acknowledge that other may like this.
The breakfasts are a more sedate affair though and are very good.
M. W.
Been having drinks at Paul's several times during my stay in Peterborough. Also had dinner there one time. Nice place to go to, friendly staff, good food and great music in the background. I can thoroughly recommend this place.
J. A.
Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Price For Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Overall the price was good. It’s not the cheapest but for the dish which I ordered compared to other restaurants prices for the same dish was pretty good.
Speed of Service: ⭐️⭐️
On this particular visit, the time between placing my order and receiving my meal was a little slow. A lack of staff updates didn’t help with the service either. Understandable if it’s a very busy night or staffing issues. But a quick update doesn’t go a miss.
Food Quality: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Overall quality of food was very satisfactory. Good flavour combinations and a generous portion size too. Steak was cooked perfectly to my preference too .
Restaraunt Cleanliness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
No major issues here. The pub was clean and tidy.
AOB- ⭐️⭐️
The atmosphere wasn’t really enjoyable. Some background music for ambience would really benefit the restaraunt in a positive way.
D. R.
Good value food, although a little slow with the service. Plenty of parking near to restaurant and easily accessible by road from all parts of Peterborough. Would recommend for a good get together with family and friends.
C. B.
Really enjoyed my food on my last visit, staff really welcoming and friendly
D. w.
Pretty average. Went for an early evening meal. Quite for a Friday so got seated immediately without booking. Staff were pleasent and trying hard but from then on in it was 3 star experience... Mainly due to expensive drinks, Pretty lacklustre menu. Really struggled to choose something off the menu I fancied that night. Went for a grilled starter for 2. All the usual and plenty of it but nothing to sing and dance for... Main course for my wife was steak... Small and fatty. Cheap meat. Chips were disgusting. Again cheap whole sale standard and only semi cooked. I had the curry. Too be honest that was great but the boiled rice was wet and the nan bread was the kind you wouldn't pay more than 15p for. We were in and out quickly but £60 quid for a shared starter... 2 not very good mains and a couple of pints over and done in just over an hour.... It feels like the hotel behind this pub is the main source of hungry folk ... The likes of me will certainly choose somewhere else in future for that money...... Trying hard but not in the quality of food department.... 3 ***
C. K.
Went in a big party and food was pre- ordered. It came out fast and was delicious!! My only negative thing was there was a lot of us going to the bar and only 1 bar staff, poor girl was rushed off her feet.
P. O.
Met up with family for breakfast, all you can eat for £9.50, plenty of choice, friendly staff
B. S.
Was really nice food and dint wait long customer service good
s. f.
the Staff were great, the place looks nice and clean but the food we got was a discrace! a micro meal would have been nicer.. really poor standard! not good! and not worth the money! re heated chips and and rubbery steak! would not dine here again serious changes needed!
K. B.
We was waiting at the front desk for 10 minutes when they only had 1 table taken in the restaurant, I had to walk and ask a waiter if we could be seated but after that the waiters were good and friendly. Food was okay it arrived quick, the deserts were really good.
a. b.
As expected. Good pub grub. Friendly staff
K. H.
Nice meal, was awful a year ago. But menu is a lot more diverse, lots of choices for fussy eaters portion size good. Wish mushrooms had garlic dip. Only thing was if you didnt like bbq sauce u would be hard pressed to find a plate. My ribs didnt have bbq and were sold as them so added myself. All in all nice meal. Well done paul pry. Sat near kitchen n heard fella with glasses moaning to young waitress...
D. B.
Meals and in particular service has been very good for the price! Waitresses always display good customer service skills when I am here. Which is quite frequent! Well done to all at the Paul Pry!
C. S.
Attentive staff, food and drink orders taken quickly after we were shown to our table and food arrived promptly and was hot and well cooked, good sized meal, there were four of us and we all agreed meals were hot and tasty. Will return
s. h.
Good food great atmosphere fantastic staff
M. T.
Had a lovely meal with family today Sunday 20th September. Thank Kevin for the good service we received. Will be back soon
J. V.
Staff were brilliant, meal was so enjoyable, puddings were outstanding and the price was very reasonable, ample parking and seating area was comfortable and very clean.
We will definitely go again.
P. P.
The staff were lovely and couldn't have tried harder, but on the Saturday we popped in for breakfast at around 9am. The following were not available without specifically asking for them:
butter;
muffins:
white bread;
whole milk;
bowls;
spoons;
cups;
ketchup;
mustard
coffee.
Then the food was cold, then the beans were missing then the beans arrived cold. To top it off, the coffee was like black water! It may be Costa, but it's not sold like that in their shops, they would be out of business in a week.
L. T. n.
Service was slow and one item forgotten twice. Lamb dish was tough and potatoes under done however all the rest of the food was lovely. Need to pick when you go carefully
C. S.
I came here today for lunch with my gran. Not only was the staff friendly and inviting the food was beautiful. I had the cluck and ale chicken burger. I can honestly say it was the best chicken burger I've ever eaten and I eat a lot of burgers haha.
C. S.
Not the cleanest of restaurants, service was good. Food was okay and fairly priced.

Had a Sunday roast with roast parsnips pork with stuffing, roast potatoes, plenty of vegetables on side plate, with huge Yorkshire pudding.Great service from a young lady called Heather good, Great value roast all for £11.99,will call in there again!
M. B.
Food was ok, but slightly overpriced for what you get. Sold out of several beers, so not ideal going into a weekend. On the whole ok, but wouldn't rush back.
R. G.
Standard chain restaurant, good on this occasion was good and well presented, service could have been better, the kids eat for £1 didn't work correctly and is it wasn't for my eagle eyed wife we would have been over charged..
K. A.
Decent pub food. No longer serves San Miguel on tap ☹️

Really a second class Wetherspoons. Food not quite as good value, and limited beers. OK if desperate, but that's about it.
S. C.
Came here for a father's day meal, service was very good and so was the food.
J. S.

I. R.

A. S.

I can't thank Jan enough for her help this morning.
My mum has been seriously ill in hospital and after 5 days of being unable to eat her only request this morning was a bacon roll to be brought to her hospital bed. Finding a bacon roll early on a Sunday morning was surprisingly difficult and as a last resort I turned to the one place I have been visiting for a number of years and was pleasantly surprised to find that Jan was so accommodating and in no time had whipped up not only a takeaway bacon sarnie but also provided a cup of tea, banana and yoghurt.
Jan, both my mum and I thank you, you are an assest to Paul Pry!
L. L.
Good food, friendly service. Thank you
