Reviews of Harbourside Fish and Chips
S. A.
One of the best fish and chips in Plymouth, we went for a lunch. The place was really clean and tidy, the staff was very friendly and helpful, we have sat and ordered, our order came very fast and the most important the fish and chips was really delicious, I really recommend it!
T. R.
Not being local, I relied on a locals recommendation and I was not disappointed
Friend and I ordered a meal and a drink each and that came in at less than £25
Fish and Chips, mushy peas were excellent, lovely, fresh hot and tasty and gorgeous big flakes of fish. Friend had the Seafood Platter and she said it was delicious!
I went back the second time, Ordered Regular F&C other friend ordered Battered sausage
So, to start with - we were seated right away upstairs, different staff each time, both equally lovely and efficient while taking orders, serving drinks then serving food
Checked in on us and everything was lovely!
The food was hot, fresh and incredibly tasty!
I do understand the other reviews, because its just so busy, but we were happy to have a short wait for the food we got.
N. P.
I had chips mixed seafood. Prawns and scampi were amazing. Fab frieny service. Would eat here again
G. E.
Excellent fish and chips today. Haddock was delicious as was the cod. Regular size was filling. Very nice americano coffee served in a large mug too. Our server was a very friendly chap - happy and helpful. He was a joy to talk to. (Sorry we didn't get your name.) Atmosphere dropped a star just because it had few customers as it was a dark wet and windy evening. Plus the music player had stopped working. Highly recommended restaurant. Our first visit but certainly not our last.
B. N.
Very enjoyable meal having the Cod Fish & Chips. It was fresh with crispy batter. The portion was reasonable size for its pricing. The fish was fresh and not greasy.
Will definitely visit again if in the area.
S. B.
My sister and I were on a bus tour of the UK from California and very anxious for fish and chips. The best ones we had were in Plymouth at Harboutside Fish & Chips. Not oily, light batter, nice piece of fish. We tried several places, one that rates itself the best. That place was not good.
We ate upstairs so no ambiance but the meal is so good. Back in San Francisco now and warm memories of a delicious meal.
S. L.
We had a great time having Fish and chips.
Delicious food and amazing service by Natasha.
Many thanks for making our trip here memorable via great and fresh food! Will revisit and highly recommend :)
Z. V.
Great place for fish and chips. Fish was lovely. Service was excellent. If you want good food, no fuss then this is the place to go. I will definitely come back!
S. H.
Friendly helpful staff, clean tables, very popular ate downstairs as upstairs dinning was full. Cod was excellent, with hindsight large was a little too big for me. Chips were fresh and cooked perfectly.
K. M.
We’ve been a few times, the food is nice just not wow. The fish is hit and miss with the batter but I’m sure that’s more to do with oil change.
The price for kids meal is so high please re look at this as it’s just not cost effective at all. Staff are always really nice,
Hopefully you review pricing as it is overpriced.
M. F.
Came from Australia to experience the Fish and Chips here. Totally worth the 20000km journey. Cod was delicious and the chips complimented the fish superbly. The girls serving were very friendly and helpful. Any Aussies in Plymouth looking for great FnC just come straight here.
S. A. M.
Mouthfuls of gorgeousness. Crispy. Fluffy. Batter that's light as air. And curry sauce that's all kinds of herby spiciness. That's all I can say.
Would have given 5 stars if the ketchup was free but I can understand how expensive the world has gotten. I now carry my own ketchup bottle in my purse so it's not an issue.
A. D.
Always was the best fish and chips and now the gluten free menu is absolutely superb. You honestly wouldn't know it was gluten free. We will be back soon!
M. G.
Amazing service from staff smiling every time I see them. Great food! Love the sausage, chips and gravy can't get enough of their gravy
E. D.
The fish and chips were excellent. Friendly people and happy customers. Small indoor seating area with some outdoor seating. There was a charge for second floor seating.
M.
Pre ordered chips, drove down, picked them up, ate them whilst overlooking the breakwater. What a delight. Chips were red hot, crispy and very tasty.
We went for regular portions.
Yes we took our own ketchup and own forks! You have to be prepared!!
L. 2.
Delicious and good fish and chips, too far from home. Big group of us visited this fish and chippie and weren't disappointed! Mushy peas were excellent, drinks were amazing and the price was very low.
M. a. J. B.
This chip shop is excellent! Fish, chips & peas right up there with best have had anywhere (in our opinion), nice portion sizes and is reasonably priced. The upstairs restaurant is immaculate with bright modern decor, great service from friendly staff and short wait times for the food. Alcoholic drinks are also available. With a location right in the centre of the historic Barbican waterfront area, what more could anyone wish for! Recommended to visit!
D. I. O.
Great location on the barbican. The fish was smaller than other shops nearby. Its an OK shop for a quick bite that's about it.
M. M.
So extremely delicious.. we had cod and calamari w fish and chips. Amazing
S. M.
Food is always great, service is friendly and always a great portion size! Can't go wrong with this place! Also, had to get some curry sauce today as I smelled it while ordering! Delicious!
H. S. A.
Great little chippy offering delicious choices. We arrived and were seated upstairs. Nothing fancy but good seating area and a bit nicer than your average chippy. Great place for families. Delicious food and everything was made fresh. Natasha was our waitress and she was absolutely lovely. Accomodating and friendly. Thank you Harbourside.
B. W.
A few years ago getting fish and chips at least once a month or maybe even more often was part of most people's diet, unfortunately it's 2022 and the cost of both fish and potatoes has sky rocketed, to the point that it's becoming a bit of a luxury takeaway now. In saying that, this award winning 'chippy' serves up a quality product, check it out you will not be disappointed.
D. C.
Great fish and chips, nice seating and bathrooms upstairs too. Recommended.
M. C.
As always the chips were delish! This is my favourite chippy and they never fail me.
J. R.
Amazing large cod with great chips. Fresh prepared and hot served in the box 👍💜
O. S.
Good fish and chips but didn't taste as fresh as from the shop by the harbour. Portions were a bit smaller too. Overall still decent quality for fair prices.
j. L.
Good fish and chips cooked fresh to order we went in the restaurant upstairs nothing fancy quick tasting food not the best I have had but much better than others
P. B.
Fantastic fish. Meaty and fresh with a crisp batter, exactly as it should be.
Chips good. Plenty of taste and bite but not quite that golden fry with a fluffy inside.
Service was average - Little bit of a feeling we were an inconvenience to the staff behind the counter. General grumpiness when interacting.
K. E.
On Sunday 13/08/22 between 12.15 & 13.00, I visited your restaurant for dinner. My order was taken in upstairs dinner. I noticed two members of staff, masing around with no care about my order. In the end my order arrived, I started my diner but found it was could. I reported this to a staff member. And told him I would not pay , of the poor service ECT.
I went down to your other restaurant, and told them what happened. The took my contact details, and me she would pass them onto you ( Sarah) . I am still waiting for you to contact me about this matter. So can you please look into this matter, and get back to me soon. Your staff in Gluten Free have my details sent to you by text. Kevin.
G. H.
Was told about this place when we were visiting - certainly loved up to expectations - fish & chips were lovely 😋. Batter was thin & not greasy, chips crispy & nice portion sizes!
U.
One of the best fish and chips places in Plymouth. Recently getting very expensive though! They've just had a refurb so that's probably why.
K. M.
The best fish and chips around we all loved our food and there was plenty of it for the price
R. S.
Very tasty. But the 'medium' portion size was closer to a seniors lunch portion. I went away and had a full dinner at home an hour later.
r. k.
Good fish, crispy batter.
Chips were a little on the softer side. Would prefer them to be crispier.
Sauces cost extra.
L. M.
We ate in and our server was so friendly and polite, they made the experience better. We had to wait a while to order as it was busy (it's only a small restaurant with one staff member upstairs). The quality of the food is great and portions are generous. We had someone gluten free in our group and they were very accommodating to this. A great experience, we wanted to buy the t-shirts as it had their logo and a big "gluten free" on the back which our friend related to and so admired!
F. T.
Staff were lovely. Fish not up to scratch I'm afraid. We've had food from here before and it's always been first class. But the batter was overcooked. The chips were greasy and going cold. Maybe they were really busy. But don't let this put you off. It's the only time we've been disappointed. We will go back and try again.
Z. O.
Definitely the best fish and chip shop in Plymouth, we went for lunch and we were served by two lovely girls by the names Hannah and Mia I believe, they were super duper friendly and helpful, such a delight! The place was really clean and tidy, our order came very fast and the girls made it such an enjoyable experience with their bubbly characters and brilliant customer service, but most importantly the fish and chips were really delicious! I really recommend it, especially on a nice sunny day 💗
E.
This was the best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time! We sat just outside the shop in the glorious sunshine and didn’t have to wait long for the order to be freshly cooked. Would definitely go there again when I’m in Plymouth next!
N. S.
The queue outside this place might make you think that they sell a great product. Maybe the awards will make you think that too. But you pay £8 for a tiny portion and the thinnest piece of cod I have ever had the displeasure of seeing - in fact it was mostly batter. That being said, the chips are what you expect from a fish and chip shop and the mushy peas are very nice.
R. H.
I gave the cook a standing ovation. Over the last 60-odd years, I cannot ever remember having had better. I am now judging all Fish suppers on theirs...they have become my Gold Standard.
C. N.
The service was very good and the food was cooked exceptionally well. Staff very friendly too.
A. C.
Best fish and chips I've had in ages. Could take or leave the fishcake.
l. n.
Friendly atmosphere, excellent service, fish and chips about the best I have ever had. would recommend and definitely go in again when I am next on the barbican
J. L.
Delicious fish, juicy and not dry. Mushy peas were good too, same as chips, my go to place for fish and chips in Plymouth. This place has won a few awards as well
M.
Came here as we were recommended by a friend of ours and whilst the food was really nice, we didn't realize that there was a sitting area upstairs that offered table service. So we had placed our order and I sat upstairs when a staff member said it would be an extra charge to sit and eat our food that we had already had ordered from the downstairs counter.
We ended up taking out the food and finding somewhere that sheltered us from any seagull bombardment, but would have preferred sitting in the warm as it was a little chilly in the evening.
L. S.
Great service and great food. Quickly prepared from fresh and tasted brilliant!!
s.
Fish was good, chips were edible but not cooked correctly and tasted strange. The bottom half of the chips stuck to the lining paper. The portion sizes for the price were on the smaller side but not tiny.
N. W.
Great fish, the batter was crispy and light and the chips were so good too! Friendly staff and clean toilets.
L. K.
Ordered a grilled chicken burger. Had to pay extra for chips and mayo sachets. Burger was literally just a bun and a chicken breast??? The taste was good tho
E. M.
Harbourside is the best fish and chips you can get. I've been using them for over 30 years. Never had a problem and even my children love them, of course all grown up now, but still enjoy them. We'd be lost without you. May you continue on for years to come, you are part of the Barbican, Thank you X
j. i.
Absolutely fantastic- had a gluten free haddock and chips, delicious. Chips were crispy but not greasy. Fish was perfectly cooked. Guys working there were friendly, and quite efficient getting through the orders. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a proper fish and chips.
R. L.
The staff are fantastic, food really is amazing and the setting is perfect. Cannot recommend the scallops enough.
N. T.
Wow I can honestly say this is the best fish and chips I have ever had, and they also do grilled fish and decent portion sizes with an efficient service. The food is not greasy and tastes delicious well worth a visit
S. H.
Lovely place to eat. We stopped for lunch and shared the platter which was amazing.
r. h.
Well best fish and chips for a long time and the mush pea.
M. S.
What can I say about Harbourside fish and chips on the Barbican in Plymouth. Fresh fish and chips, very good portions and hot. Brilliant experienced and friendly staff, clean cafe. I cannot fault this place. Well worth a visit when your in the area anytime. Hence 5 stars.
E. N.
A nice award-winning chippy in the Plymouth Barbican. I ordered a regular fish and chips. Due to the Covid situation they ask for people to wear a mask upon entering. They have a self-serve order & payment kiosk for credit cards & there's a cashier at the counter for those with cash. You get an order number and then have to wait outside for your number to be called. It was served in a cardboard 'to go' box which was a bit nicer than an average take away box & better for the environment too. The whole process from arriving to leaving with my order was maybe 10-15mins max so not bad at all. The fish & chips were good and a more than decent portion size. Just the right amount of salt & vinegar too. For those who dont like fish they also have burgers on the menu. I'd definitely come back here. Recommend.
W. H. T.
Went in, wanted Burger, came out, got Lemons with a Spoon. Real story!
After calling Beth back she knew which order it was.
We got a really generous compensation.
The Dishes are great in size and taste.
Whenever we are back in Plymouth we will visit an eat at Harbourside Fish&Chips again!
A. K.
Fabulous! A colleague recommended this restaurant as I am in Plymouth for work. Friendly and polite staff, delicious fish and chips and a relaxed environment. Some locations can feel uncomfortable when dining alone but I felt completely comfortable here. Thank you 😊
P. C.
18 of us turned up and asked if they had seating... Only a small place but the staff couldn't do enough for us. So friendly, patient and polite... Fish and chips was fantastic aswell. Definitely be going back next time I'm in Plymouth. Thank you girls
C. J.
Nicely cooked but a bit expensivefor what we had. Service from Henry was excellent.
s. m.
Amazing value fish was so fresh it just fell apart won't go anywhere else for fish and chips.
D. O.
Marvelous fish and chips great service really enjoyed our meal
G. V.
The Fish and Chips were very nice. I would recommend them anytime.
C. R.
We bought fish and chips and pickled onions. Harbourside fish and chips are probably make the best fish and chips in Plymouth. Be prepared to queue as they do get busy. We arrived reasonably early in the day and the queue was moderate. The staff are friendly and efficient even under pressure. The portions are generous and the food is well packaged, so kept hot whilst we found an empty bench to enjoy them.
C. A.
Lovely tasting chips, but portion sizes could be bigger for the price. Really great that they have gluten free options. Lots of places to sit and look at the water along the Barbican. Perfect on a sunny day.
A. W.
Perfectly situated by the harbour to have a bit to eat after a walk around, the cod and chips were cooked fresh and tasted great, curry sauce was excellent too.
Will certainly be going again on my next visit to Plymouth.
N. L.
Tasty fish & chips. Downstairs is a bit manic, with takeaways flowing out. Go upstairs, a nice waiter will sit you, take your order and it all works smoothly. Clean toilets.
R. W.
We've been here a few times now when visiting Plymouth and it never dissapoints. We went the weekend of the Men's Day Out and the food was served quickly and all hot. We were even able to sit downstairs with the dog.
J. H.
Hearty fish & chip meal at a reasonable price compared to others nearby. The restaurant was well-maintained with seating upstairs and we didn’t have to wait too long for our food. I would pay this another trip next time I’m in Plymouth!
M. “. s. e. K. G.
We ate here very good fish and chips.
R. B.
Good meals, very lovely and hospitable staff. Just very limited seating areas
I. v.
Excellent large cod perfectly cooked, light crispy batter plus golden chips at £11.95. Battered sausage excellent. Service really good and attentive server. Would recommend, best in Plymouth! Went back again on the Tuesday, food just as good. Waitress didn’t understand Essex accent and thought butter roll was batter roll, but she was excellent server!
D. H.
The young man waiter begins with a K! Outstanding service x fantastic meal xx
H. P.
Tasty, traditional fish and chips and 5 star and fast service…
K. S.
Nice fresh fish n chips great curry sauce
A. P.
One of my favourite for fish and chips not greasy and fish is always tasty. However haven't been for about a year so we treated ourselves Sunday 22nd August in the evening and was charged £8.05 for a standard fish and chips. Fish tasty but a small amount of chips so personally feel that was expensive for what we had so sorry to say will not be rushing back. However if your happy to pay the price you will enjoy.
A. J. I. (.
Probably the best fish and chips in Plymouth for that price. Very generous portion of chips. The mushy peas as so and so though.
B. K.
Great service and friendly staff.
Fish and chips were lovely. Very popular place
K. S.
Nice food but was expensive for what we had haddock small chips take away £10.45 and £1.70 for a can of fizzy
S.
Simply the best fish and chips in Plymouth! I've lost count how many times we've eaten here over the years and it's always top quality. Our server Natasha was also very kind and helpful.
R. C.
Stellar service, amazing food I couldn't recommend a better fish and chips. Great quality, great staff. An overall amazing experience.
C. B.
Loved it. Great quality fish and chips 🍟. It was very cold upstairs, could do with heating. Yummy 😋 holiday treat.
R. G.
Incredibly fresh fish! Combined with a hot drink, this was a perfect escape from the freezing weather! Wonderful staff
D. W.
Had lunch here today with my mum, sad and daughter. The food was nice and the staff were helpful and friendly. The downside was the fact that my daughter asked for salad with her meal, which the waitress told us they had run out of. My daughter then asked for beans with her meal, only to be told that they don't have beans on the menu. This really shocked us, whoever heard of a chip shop that doesn't serve beans!!
C. S.
Excellent food and service in a great location by the harbour
Fresh and great value
D. W.
Lovely food but a bit pricey.
L. T.
Delicious fish and chips! We had the large fish and chips and thought the portions were very generous. Super service, Natasha is possibly the best server that we have had in ages!
T. M.
Pretty good fish and chips with a side of friendly service.
D. C.
I only used this as a take away, although they did seem to have a large restaurant area. The staff were friendly and helpful, and were able to cater for my gluten free diet. Very tasty fish and chips.
M. R.
Excellent f&c which is what we were after
K. J.
Great portion, super tasty, and lovely to sit down and enjoy it with a cider and a sea view!
r. b.
Award winning fish and chips go up stairs for waitress service lovely and clean friendly staff - highly recommend I had the regular size and it was plenty 10/10
I.
Very good service from a worker named Harry deserves a raise 👍
L. H.
When it's good, it's really good. The best in town, with no doubt. Get the fish chips & curry sauce...... Epic
P. K.
Fish and Chips were fabulous. The batter was perfect the Cod cooked perfect and the Chips just how they should be cooked. Staff were friendly and efficient. Well done.
S. T.
We love this place, the food is great! It's close to the water so you can take your meal and eat whilst looking at the great views over the water.
C. M.
I must admit I'm a bit fussy with the salt and vinegar and only like a small amount of vinegar and lashings of salt but I was really disappointed when I opened my fish supper with not so much as a splash of vinegar or a grain of salt... I even asked if both condiments had been put on prior to leaving and I was assured they had. I didn't bother returning as it was peak time and I sulked like a petulant child whilst eating my food. Even though I didn't get my salty supper the fish and chips were of good quality and tasted nice.
L. F.
Really good fish and chips. Fresh and not greasy. Chip portion size a little on the small side. All tasted delicious though and the fish platter was great.
B. B.
Excellent fish and chips and brilliant service. Food portions were also very good. Will definitely return when we’re back in the area
M. K.
Visited Harbourside chippy for the first time this evening with my lovely lady for a anniversary treat! Being gluten intolerant we opted for the specalist shop that serves ONLY gluten free products, a refreshing change from most chippies that only offer gluten free on certain days or limited range.
We can honestly say that these were some of the best chips, sausage and scampi we've ever had. Crisp batter, not at all greasy and lovely and hot, all cooked to order.
Staff were brilliant, friendly and very helpful, looked like they were really enjoying their work.
If you're after GF chips and battered food then you can't go far wrong, pricing no different to a regular chip shop. Would give 6 stars if I could, made for a lovely anniversary treat
Would have submitted a picture but was so delicious we devoured them all immediately!
D. S.
Soggy batter, not a lot for your money. The chips were nice tho.
K. M.
Beautiful cooked food and very clean shop 😋 only downside is the price. Well worth a treat though I'm so fussy so it must be delicious.
M. F.
Lovely fish and chips. Good value.
B. i.
Nice chips. Nothing special about them, as i local im aware its pretty much a tourist Chippy. but food is decent none the less
M. S.
Best Fish n Chips that I've had in 10 years! Why, because I'm not good with the wheat or gluten and all the food even the vinegar is GF.
Made our visit to Plymouth even better. Thanks.
C. B.
Very good fish and chips had our great grandson who is 2 with us happy to supply an extra plate so we could share
Friendly helpful staff
G. G. G.
Very good and tasty food and also good service
Y. H.
Friendly service, cod and chips cooked very well. Reasonable prices.
S. R.
Excellent service. Had a short wait for freshly cooked fish but made aware of this. Busy as it was 17:30, but our food was cooked fresh & tasted delicious. Small portion of fish & chips perfectly formed! Eat in & take away available. Just along the road they have a gluten free shop too!
N. W.
Really good Fish & Chips, could be the best I’ve had. 🤗💁🏻♂️
L. W.
Excellent food & service is always friendly. Even @busy times ,staff are helpful. A pleasure to go there. X
Z.
It's okay. The fish is the best part, but chips the fishcake batter they use and some other items don't really hit the spot for the price they are. Better chippies do nicer fishcakes for cheaper and have more variety. However the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is great! If you're going with friends it's better but if you're looking for grub alone go next door or go to another chippy.
S. H.
What a fabulous place. Food is amazing. Staff are very friendly.
I have to have gluten free which can be greatly inconvenient when out and about with family/friends. Harbourside have a separate gluten free shop a couple of doors down,I placed my order and thought I would have to wait for it and then join the rest of my family. However, the food was brought round to me, I was able to eat the same as everyone else AND at the same time! I even got gluten free vinegar!
Everyone enjoyed their meals, I would highly recommend Harbourside regardless of which menu is needed.
Thank you Harbourside. 😁.
I. B.
Supposed to be the 3rd best fish and chip shop in the UK 🤔
I had haddock which was OK - chips were only warm / slightly hot 👎
Considering they charged £8.05 for the fish and chips (and a whopping £1.60 for a can of coke) - you were not even offered a slice of lemon or sachet of tartar sauce !!
After asking I was given a slice of lemon and told the tartar sauce was 35p a sachet.
Staff were great but the food was disappointing 👎
Oh nearly forgot - after finishing eating on one of the outside tables - I went back into the chippy with my empty box and drinks can only to be told that 'we're not allowed to take your empties' - what a load of balderdash !!
d. s.
We were out for a family fish and chip supper. Saw a busy chippie near the Plymouth Hoe, asked if there was seating available, and was directed upstairs.
A nice, friendly area with 5/6 tables awaited us, with very nice young lady in attendance to take our orders. Absolutely 1st class!
The food was excellent, the service impeccable, and the whole place very clean and tidy. Fully recommended!!!
B. F.
Great quality fish and chips, fast service and easy to order click and collect. The only thing that could improve things would be some more substantial forks as the small wooden forks are next to useless for eating that excellent fish. Still the best in Plymouth.
J. R.
Employee called kaden Parker (what he told us) messed mine and my mates order up twice before putting vinegar on my chips after asking specifically for only salt
Chips were lovely but I think kaden needs some more training on listening to customers.
D. C.
Absolutely beautiful food as always 😁
C.
Helpful staff with quick, easy service. The restaurant was very clean and had lots of seating, which made it the perfect place to duck out of the rain.
The food (I had cod) was well cooked and tasted lovely, I can tell why it proudly wears its awards.
J. L.
Went yesterday during our day bike ride in Plymouth area. Superb gluten-free fish and chips. Regular size was plenty. They don't operate a separate shop for fish and chips any more. Had to order gf for non coeliac partner as the two order menu apps are separate. Would be better to combine them, but it was ok for us. Definitely recommend.
N. P.
served by a wonderful girl called Mia! she's was so friendly, welcoming and the food was delish!! recommend to anyone!
K. B.
Wow, best fish & chips we've EVER had!! We sat in upstairs, nice clean seating area & lovely staff. Reasonable prices as well, they offer meal deals which include fish, chips & mushy peas which were amazing. Visited on the Thursday of the fireworks display & although it was busy we didn't feel rushed & the food was top notch. Will be visiting again!
P. F. c.
Went in and got quick service by a very polite well mannered young lady, got fish, chips and curry sauce and it was absolutely delicious, definitely recommend this place and will definitely be hoing back again..
Z. C.
Standard Fisk& Chips place, full of people, polite staff, pint of Haineken - £5.
M. C.
A smallish place with pleasant upstairs cafe. Food excellent and hot. Staff very good. The stairs are difficult for people with certain disabilities.
S. B.
Simply Fantastic, Quick Friendly Staff, Perfect Chips, the batter on the fish was light and crispy not greasy at all! I'll be back!
Y. M.
If I could give it 6 stars I would, the chips were amazing and I would recommend buying food here, nice staff 10/10
B. T.
Good quality fish and reasonably priced, but chips were a bit dry. Also, drinks were rather expensive compared to the food.
B. A. Y.
Stopped here as boyfriend loves fish and chips. I'm not a massive fan but these were really lovely. I don't know if it was the fresh air made them taste so good but I think they were a cut above most places. Highly recommended.
I should mention this was during relaxation of lockdown so appreciated even more.
R. G.
Lovely piece of cod, freshly cooked. Nice chips too.
D. T.
The reviews were good and the cod(large) and chips(large) were indeed good. Although the large fish size is still average which these days seems to be the norm anyway.
K. 7.
Better priced than some others in the area and equally good. I recommend the Seafood Platter with chips! They also have a gluten free shop too just a short way down the street.
M.
Perfect fish and chips for a good price
A. I.
Great fish and chips.
Clean Atmosphere...
Thank you...
A. M.
Made another visit and I have to say I really enjoyed the fish, chips and mushy pea meal deal. I have increased my star rating for Harbourside . Perhaps in the past I was a little unlucky. The paragraph below was my original review.
I have had a take away from here several times. The cod portion is a little small but the fish is very fresh. The chips are on the dry side. The price is very good. I would go again but I won't rush to return. If I had a choice I would go to the chippy next door.
R. P.
Cracking fish and chips, very tasty 😋
7. T.
The best gluten free Fish & chips I've ever eaten! Kind and friendly staff
D. S.
Decided to try these out on a day wandering around the Barbican and I was not disappointed. These chips were just right and I'll be coming here every time I visit the Barbican. It also might make me visit the Barbican specifically to get these.
l. n.
Visited on a busy lunchtime, ordered a small fish and chips which was fine nothing spectacular but also not to be complained about just a standard fish and chips. Other family members also ordered standard cod and chips and a child's portion for 5 year old which turned out to be bigger than the small portion. Good value
S. L.
Always great fish & chips here, ate in (upstairs) lovely and clean with good service
m. s.
I don't eat fish myself, so had the falafel burger it was 😋 The rest of my family had fish 'n' chips, they said it was lovely & you could tell it was freshly cooked.
T. S.
Food was very nice & hot.We had spent £42 & treated family but very disappointed when I collected from counter as I had to then pay for a bag to put it in.. really!! after spending on a big order & then being told there were no more free plastic forks either.
D. V.
It was the best fish and chips I've had in a very long time.
J. I.
We booked as a family to celebrate my granddaughter's graduation. The menu is extensive and varied, the staff are incredibly helpful and the quality of the meal was outstandingly good.At the price range the food is at I don't know how they do it.The fish was incredible in size and homemade tartare sauce and mushy peas were items that brought back memories of my mum.Great place lovely people well done. We will be back.
J. H.
Excellent fish and chips, staff are competent and the food is well cooked.
Ingredients are sustainably sourced and certified.
Can be very busy at times, but that just proves the popularity. Still, never had to wait too long though for my food.
Fish, burgers, chicken nuggets, fish cakes, and vegetarian option burger is all delicious and well prepared.
W. (. i. a. b. m.
Had Haddock and chips from their shop yesterday. The batter was full of grease and the fish was the worst size I have had in a long time, very thin almost like Whiting. Ironically got my son Cod and Chips from their smaller shop by Platters 20 minutes earlier and it was spot on. Shows it's down the the cook but also shouldn't be selling inferior fish.
L. T.
Fantastic gluten free fish and chips. They can be ordered at the restaurant above the main chip shop and enjoyed with a surprisingly nice glass of sauvignon blanc.
m. t.
Place was lovely. Had to book a table but only had to wait a half hour for a table
Food was delicious. Good sized portions to suit all appetites. Staff were lovely and would definitely eat here again
J. D.
Some of the best fish and chips in Plymouth and my favourite. Go upstairs for friendly table service, though it's very busy between 5-7PM in the summer and you may have to wait if you try then, else usually no waiting for a table.
V. B.
Best fish and chips ever
C. P.
Just been fitted out and they are very transparent about where their fish and potatoes came from. Also great that they suggested that they suggested our children went for grilled chicken rather than nuggets. Friendly service. Poor quality ketchup though. Highly recommended!
K. S.
Good size portions and very tasty
D. H.
Good quality fish fried in flavourless oil. Menu price dose not include VAT. Which in my view is a sneaky way of doing things. Small fish size! I got “jumbo” cod that looked like a standard cod at any other place. Dose not deserve national award! Had nicer fish and chips at many different places!..........I never said I had a bad experience I gave you place 3 stars I simply pointed out that you don’t deserve your natural award and your portion may be weighed but they are small sorry if you don’t like these comments but they are all true.
S. T.
I went to the gluten free fish and chip shop and it was absolutely lovely. Not had anything battered for ages and the staff were so helpful. The service was quick. All my family ate there and they didn't realise it was gluten free and said they couldn't tell the difference! Would go back again and highly recommend to everyone!
Thank you to all the staff.
D. L.
Very tasty chips and nice decor
A. W.
Good food, but portion sizes a little small. If eating in, lovely service. The seating area upstairs seems a little plain and bare, and echoes easily meaning people can listen into different conversations. Overall, very good service.
b. (.
Last week I went to your new gluten free part and I am in love !! Me and my mum had the fishcake and chips it was the best ever. Would recommend to anyone who has food intolerances even down to the vinegar was all gluten free. The young lad was amazing and rushed off his feet might need some help soon as the que got bigger when we was eating outside! Would be nice be nice to see you get some more outdoor seating for the summer. But I am coming back again best meal in a long time. Well done !
w. d.
Went to Harbourside today with friends for anniversary meal.
Food and service was fantastic.
A special mention to Abby the waitress whose customer service was second to none.
B. S.
Really really good fish and chips! Of all the cafes in the town we were very glad to have chosen this one. All cooked fresh with excellent chips, pleasant staff and bright and clean inside. Highly recommended!
L. B.
Enjoyed the take out, but restaurant over priced in comparison. Have had better.
S. M.
As always, eating in, the food and the service was up to standard. Unfortunately I was surprised when I asked for 2 small battered sausages and chips both for me and my wife I was told that small sausages were only available with a childs meal, but we could have jumbo sized instead. As we didn't want that we were basically pushed into a corner and ended up with fish. Also overheard a young couple ask for a small sausage for their young daughter and were told they couldn't have that and they would need to order a child meal, which they declined. I feel that I may think twice about going here again if I cant order what I want.
P. G.
Definitely the best fish&chips I have ever eaten.
M.
I would 100% recommend the food here. When i saw the que out the door i had an idea it may be good!
I orderd for chips and mushy peas, all of which were really well cooked and tasted delicious. The service was friendly and very efficient. If your looking for great fish and chips call in here.
K. H.
Lovely fish and chips as always. However took my mum there yesterday and was charged £30.15 for regular cod and chips, child portion fish and chips, one mushy peas, one curry sauce, one fanta and a cup of tea!. I'm sure I must have paid someone else's order. Expensive fish and chips eh!
C. F.
Quality fish and chips.Freshly cooked to order All gluten free. Very good service.
Thank you 🙂👍
T. D.
Fresh Fish & Chips. Taste is awesome.
A. R.
Well i found the experience very comforting as we didn't intentionally go there for food. Headed down the barbican for Greek food, however closed. Glad we went too harbourside, gladly go again.
S. C.
Super friendly, great chips, was our first visit here. We were visiting Plymouth and wanted some chips on the way home. Google led us to a place with great reviews. The weather was poor so I dove inside. Only realising when I left that the one I was supposed go visit was next door. I was not disappointed. Hey made sure I wasn't charged to much for 2 young children who only wanted a few chips. Thanks guys!
W.
The fish itself was about OK. Nothing mind blowing to be honest. It's an enthusiastic offering to backup the chippy award fame.
J. D.
Just an amazing place. The food is great, nice portion sizes. And though that may be a matter of opinion and taste, the friendliness of the staff can not be denied. Hard working, always friendly and professional (even with drunk patrons the the patience of angels)
R. M.
Good portion sizes, just the right amount. Fish and chips were really well done and not greasy or heavy. No wonder there was a queue out the door! Plenty of inside seating, which can be quite deceptive given how small it is downstairs.
A. C.
Excellent on a good day, and a good day is every day! - I am reviewing again in order to win the £30 voucher I have been promised on this card that the awesome Charlotte gave me last week. Can I have my vouchers that I have won please.
P. S.
Excellent customer service and the best fish and chips your going to get. I would recommend a visit if you get the opportunity. Don't forget the premises has a decent 1st floor to the restaurant.
L. W.
Their fish and chips are lovely. The staff are friendly and helpful.
M. S. S.
I ate here six days in a row while on holiday. Tried everything on the menu. Nothing dissapointed. Loved the haddock and cod and scampi. All cooked to perfection. Staff was great and very welcoming.
p. m.
Very good service and staff. Very tasty food but just don't expect to get full up on their child like portions, and quite pricey
S.
The fish was quite good but the service left a lot to be desired. The girl serving was more interested in folding cutlery into napkins than dealing with us. We were encouraged to sit downstairs and when we said we were going to move upstairs were advised that it cost more to sit upstairs. Really?! What is that about? I can carry it up there myself...
R. W.
I go here regularly. When it's good, it's very good but every now and again the fish and chips seem microwaved. Very rubbery, which lets it down. Not consistant sorry to say. Hope the owner reads this and improves it. Great chippy let down by this. Hopefully you will go there when it's good.
E. O.
Possibly the best fish & chips we have ever eaten!
Ok, I was not born in the UK but indeed leave here over 16 years..
We were really positively surprised.
a. m.
The fish was glorious!!! The chips were just the right kind of crispy!!:) and the location was amazing just a small walk to the water. If its a nice day sit outside and enjoy people watching while enjoying the scrumptious fish and chips!!
C. B.
Excellent, good value traditional fish and chips. I myself had grilled fish with jacket potato and salad - the healthiest meal I've ever eaten in a fish and chips restaurant - and to top it all, there was a view of the harbour!
N. G.
Fantastic fish and chips. You only have to taste to see why they have won so many awards. Service is fantastic. All areas are clean and spotless. Excellent toilet facilities too.
P. W.
Ordered easily online using click and collect. You pay online and collect your order at a given time. Lovely fish and chips as expected. The only negative I have to point out is that people ordering within the shop have to use a touch screen ordering system which does state it’s sanitised every 15 mins, but with Covid19 it would need to be after every use, so I recommend wearing gloves.
B. P.
Good sized pieces of fish, cooked just right. Crispy chips. Good table service upstairs if you want to eat in. Kids menu. Clean loos. Very friendly staff.
G. G.
Lovely Cod and chips, and very generous portions. Always go to this one when on the Barbican.
B. C.
Had fish and chips very nice coffee was alright
Very clean
Staff very friendly
T. W.
Tasty fish and good chips, average mushy peas. Portion size on the small side but sufficient. Popular so can take a few minutes. A few pubs nearby will let you eat your takeaway inside.
I. M.
Very professional chip shop and tasty food too. Served in cardboard pizza-style boxes rather than polystyrene and lots of info inside the shop about where the fish comes from. One of several great places in Plymouth to get yer chips!
R. B.
Good service. Fish and chips were good. Curry sauce was very sweet, which my wife did not eat.
J. P.
The fish and chips were nice but the batter was a little undercooked so we didn't eat it. My husband had the large haddock which was more like medium. The only other gripe I have was the cleanliness. The floor was very dirty and the tables were left too long before being cleared. We cleared our own table and then wiped it with hand sanitiser on a serviette.
S. H.
This is a brilliant fish and chip restaurant. Have had them delivered tonight. They were still hot and delicious plus mushy peas are wicked. Will definitely have again.
T. A.
Really nice fish and chips, and the wait times during peak hours was surprisingly low!
S. B.
Enjoyed our fish and chip meal which was piping hot when it arrived. Always a tasty meal, but there's no heating in the cafe so we ate up quickly and left - it was 7 degrees outside!
F. P.
Delicious fish and chips. Probably the best I have had. As the food is cooked to order, there is a short wait for your order, but believe me, it's worth it!
D. P.
Fantastic fish and chips.. The fish was so fresh and clean.. I don’t think I have had better..
M. G.
Lovely and so are the staff. I noticed another chippy a few doors down with the same name, presumably run by the same people, that is all gluten free. Not eaten there so can't review it but what a fab idea.
K. C.
Excellent chip shop, but busy in the summer months. Recommend eating in, there are seats upstairs and they will bring your food up to you. Order at the counter and tell them you will be upstairs. They also have beer, including draft lager :-) much nicer than joining the throng eating out of plastic trays on the pavement.
S. B.
Best fish and chips in town Large cod chips
Twice tea coffee one bread roll. Just over ,17 pounds. Very polite staff and cooked fresh and fast service. 👍👍👍👍👌👌
K. T.
The very best of the fish and chips establishments anywhere in Plymouth and beyond . The nearest fish and chip shop to me is the Plymstock fish bar , and its way below the standard of this one . So much so I drove over from Radford Dip to purchase today .
T. A.
Good portion sizes, decent chips though slightly too soggy for my taste. Scampi was excellent and prices are very reasonable. Staff were friendly and service speedy.
R. C.
Best fish and chips i've had in a long time. Went to this fish and chip shop tonight and sat up in the restaurant staff were very friendly and very helpful. Waitress even cut up my little girls fish and chips for me so they would cool down as I was on other side of the table. Can't rate high enough
R. B.
Very nice fish and chips Waitress very helpful even though she was rushed off her feet Didn't seem enough staff Overall very good
E. D.
Great value for money! I had battered cod, small chips (the portion actually was rather large), tartar sauce and a bottle of Coke. All together the order was £7.40. Nice personnel, fast service, no upcharge for dining in versus take away. Highly recommend!
C. B.
Brilliant fresh F&C's. No slimy batter, just fresh fish with a dry crisp batter. Lovely chunky chips. Thank you your great food and superb friendly service.
G. H.
Fantastic portion sizes. I took the vegetarian option and had battered halloumi (w/ sweet chilli) and chips. Nice slices of halloumi and proper chip shop chips
B. O.
Lovely fish and chips. The chips were bang on. The haddock was good. I had the gravy, which is contentious, but needed a little more salt Imho. Still worth the 5 stars
K. E.
STUNNING - simple one word.
I was at Plymouth on Thursday for the weekend and was looking for a 'quick' tea for me and the children.
We had tea at the Harbourside, and it was simply Stunning!!!! In fact it was so nice and the children enjoyed so much, we returned again on Friday Night!!
The children requested that they have the same tea, happy days.
Would definitely recommend :))
T. H.
A bit pricey, £11 for a large piece of fish most places call small, chips and mushy peas. Very well organised though (order numbers, fast prep)
A. l.
We had a meal at the Harbourside today..... 'Wow', absolutely fantastic, cod, chips, mushy peas, curry sauce and a mug of tea. What a delight, first class food. Lovely young lady that served and looked after us. Can't wait to go back. See you soon. Suzanne and Ade. PS Ade proposed to me but I was more interested in the mushy peas. I said 'yes' a bit later💍💍
d. r.
Best fish and chips in Plymouth. If you can find better TELL ME! Pretty reasonable on prove as well for what you get. Can’t recommend enough
F. F.
Yeah won't be going here again and I'm local, fishcake rock hard, but again the tiny regular chip portion really takes the Mickey. Line out door is because they take to many orders and keep everyone waiting. Very overpriced but the tourists soak it up.
D. A.
Best Fish and Chips in Plymouth.
Friendly service, super fresh and tasty, everything was red hot when we got home 3.5 miles away. The curry sauce was orgasmic.
As Arnie says "I'll be back"
T. B.
Really good service despite being very busy. Food is always really hot and fresh. You can have the choice of eating in or having it wrapped to take away. Staff are helpful and will wrap seperately if asked. Nothing is too much trouble and if there is an issue they will go out of their way to sort it out.
D. S.
One of the better Fish and Chip shops around.
Fresh Fish and Chips along with the usual "chip shop fayre" . An award for high quality Fish and Chips has recently been awarded.
The service is normally very fast but prepare for a short wait in the busy months.
If the weather is a little rainy you can always pop into the nearby Dolphin Pub and eat your fish and chips there - do buy a beer though!
David
S. B.
Best gluten free fish we have had since the last time we visited!! (12 months)had a child's portion but was enough for us
Definitely recommend this place + lunch with a view!
A. K.
Excellent food and very friendly staff! However, last few times we went there, chips were over cooked and fish was raw... did they change the cook?
F. P.
Very nice chips. Was a short wait. Seating outside and inside. Service was good. We already went into another chip shop/restaurant on the harbour side and loads of staff but no one serving.
P. B.
Every time we visit Plymouth we come here, wonderful food, amazing service, great value and now gluten free cod and chips available! Thank you, we will be back as soon as we can. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
P.
Excellent fish and chips, quick service and friendly staff, sat under the 'Prawn' in the sun to eat our lunch.
M. R.
When I buy Fish 'n' Chips I buy from Harbourside. Coming from a family of Fish shop owners I know the value of crispy batter, and clean oil. I don't have to look in the back room here to see that they regularly change or rotate the fryers at Harbouside. As I've mentioned in prevoius reviews , I like my food and would never return to an establishment that didn't offer both quality and quantity. Quick service with a smile. (The card on the till said that Jo served us last time) As we all know if you have two fish shops near each other , you go to the one with the biggest queue and they queue out of the door at Harbourside. Try the mushy pea fritter as a side dish. 5 stars
K.
Clean venue, friendly staff. Willing to accomadate dietray requirments- fussy Vegan here but always cook food in chip fryers to avoid cross contamination with meat and fish products- Thank you! Children friendly, great upstairs seating area and the food is fantastic!
G. B.
Very enjoyable gluten free fish and chips and very welcoming staff. Toilets upstairs which is a bit tricky for our daughter with mobility issues only reason for not giving 5 stars.
J. S.
If you're gluten free - this is the place.
J. H.
Fresh crispy and fluffy chips. Crunchy batter and tender fish. Banging curry sauce. I'd recommend the ginger beer. The staff are such a loud, friendly and lovely bunch.
T. M.
Went to this establishment on New Years Day. Amazing food as always. Extremely clean throughout . Emma was our lovely server. Thank you Emma for your excellent service . Happy New Year
J. C.
The fish and chips here are excellent, I would say best in Plymouth. My only criticism would be the price, for large Cod and Large chips it's £8.10. The size use to be a medium piece of Cod.
K. D.
Always a sure bet for good fish and chips. Very small downstairs seating area but additional seating upstairs and outside when the weather is good. Sides are relatively expensive but they do offer meal deals which makes things more reasonable.
T. C.
I use this chip shop regularly when I visit barbican. It is quite popular as there are often customers there compared to the other chippy two doors away which I must try sometime. Harbourside chippy is good quality which is why I go back regularly but the portions aren't enough for the money you pay hence the four stars.
C. M.
Nice fish and chips. Fish tasted very fresh staff helpful
D. M.
Food was cooked on the spot and so was very fresh and hot. Great taste also a notice on the wall stated what cooking oil was being used today and another notice where today's fish was caught on what area.
G. A.
Very clean, especially the facilities. Really well cooked variety of food. Tasty. Very nice upper room, for eating, well lit and nicely spaced tables. First class waiting. A very good experience. Recommended.
M. R.
Service was outstanding!! My only gripe was that it was really messy/sticky/slippy floor/tables I know it may have be late on a Sunday when we popped in however a little soapy hot water wipe would have made it a 5* instead of sweeping the stairs!
A. K.
Harbourside fish restaurant was absolutely delicious. We got greeted by a really nice young man and seated very quickly we ordered the fish and chips and the fresh salad everything too was to a very high quality and taste it so nice and fresh, would definitely recommend it and go back again
L. W.
Best fish and chips in Plymouth
r. m.
Fish was delivered broken sadly but as soon as 's complained the staff could not do more for me.
I was given complementary chips and offered a free drink.
First Class service with lovely smiles.
Thank you, I'll be back. 20/10
J. W.
Small shop but do very tasty and well cooked fish and chips. Also one of the few fish shops that do cheesy chips! Delicious! Been there a few times and great experience each time.
P. o.
Best fish and chips in southwest of England, never heard my dad complain once, and believe me where fish is concerned that's rare, they used to drive twenty five mile into Cornwall for fish and chips before harbourside fish and chips opened..
B. C.
I can't knock the quality at all. But the portions are a tad small, you should not still be peckish after a fish and chips.
J. W.
Perfect. Just perfect. The fish actually tastes like fish and is really meaty. The best fish and chips I've ever had. Good friends service. Thanks guys :)
M. F.
Located on the barbican in plymouth opposite Dartington glass.
It has a restaurant upstairs.
Seating also downstairs and outside seating.
The Fish and chips are Amazing.
I vote this fish and chip shop the best on the barbican.
It very good prices.
Always busy..
Toilets are upstairs very clean.
There a charge extra to eat upstairs in the Resturant. No charge to eat downstairs.
I highly recommend this place.
A. v. d. w.
It is simply the best fish and chips in the south west, the staff are absolutely brilliant, helpful, attententive, courtious and most of all polite. A real gem of Plymouth, the few thereof.
M. G.
Very accommodating as the were 10 people in the party. Delicious food and charming and helpful staff thank you. marilyn groves
R. P.
For the GF Habourside Takeaway - fantastic Fish and Chips, my wife is a vegetarian and Coeliac and hasn't had chips for about 3 years so we visted the Gluten Free Takeaway a few doors down from the main shop. I have to say the fish and chips were delicious I could not tell the difference in the batter - maybe the GF version is less greasy I'm not sure? However the Halloumi and Chips she had were apparently fantasic and the one of the highlights of our week away in the South West. It was a sunny early evening as well so we were also able to sit and eat outside the takeaway as they do have a couple of table and chairs also. If you are a someone who loves chips and can't eat them nowadays due to needing a G/F option get yourself to this place!
B. W.
The services is pretty good, you can sit on the first floor and the second floor or outside at the entrance. there's also a til on the second floor you order your food not just at the counter at the entrance. The fish and chips are great there.
D. E.
Aweskme fish and chips. Seating area upstairs is table service which is cool. Orders are quick and freshly cooked (and very hot!!). Great little place.
C. R.
Very friendly staff, well cooked fish and chips nice and clean ,will be back
m. k.
we ate here last week for the second time. The food was good, nice crispy chips and a nice fresh piece of fish.Great service and location.
R. P.
Not the cheapest but the quality is very good.
Everything is cooked to order, they'll only be a 10 minute wait.
Came third in the National Fish & Chip awards 2018
J. B.
Honestly the best chips I've tasted, cooked to a golden perfection.
O. L.
Very good fish and chips. Pretty fast service. Not sure if it's the best in town but definitely up there...
E. C.
Fabulous fish and chips, possibly the best in Plymouth.
S. L.
Usually I have nothing negative to mention as the place is pretty great and the fish is chips is great quality and my family love it but this time our order got all mixed up and there was a confusion which spoiled our experience a little bit but otherwise, I would recommend the place highly.
A. V.
Incredible batter on the fish - glassy and crispy. Fish quality and chips were pretty good too.
S. B.
Perfect batter on well-cooked fish. Service (takeaway) pretty swift on Saturday lunchtime. Would have added more vinegar myself. But a good seaside experience.
T. A.
Best chippy ever ..... In my humble opinion.
Fresh modern restaurant upstairs.
Beautifully cooked fresh fish in light crispy batter.
Always part of my visits to Plymouth.
s. y.
Board and Poster in window advertises it been awarded 3rd best fish and chip shop in country???? Don't get me wrong it was nice BUT its not even close to being in my top 20 from around the country I don't know who awards these things and it's just wrong and false advertising in my book.
J. W.
Brilliant fish and chips, good staff.
c. r.
Great food and great staff
n. g.
Habourside is always our first choice for fish and chips. It seems to be one of the busiest fish and chip resturants on the Barbican and the service provided is always of an excellent standard. Recommended and well worth the visit when in the area.
S. W.
Their fish and chips are by far the best in Plymouth. My partner and our friend frequently eat here or order from here as it is a fair price for the quality you get.
P. A.
Excellent service. Chips very well cooked. Very busy. Clean and nice place upstairs for seating. Fish was was very well cooked
R. V.
Food was decent for the price. Didn't overwhelm me though, although someone recommended it as the best place to get fish and chips.
T. E.
Fantastic fish and chips, and I'm very picky on my fish and chips. Went to Plymouth on purpose to visit this place, and staff were very friendly, plenty of space to sit and eat at a table with drinks, and prices were reasonable.
C. G.
Regular fish is small. Eat in needs to be served on a plate not a piece of paper on a silver tray. Quality of food was satisfactory but not good enough for a return visit.
J. V.
Good food, clean good service, and reasonable price, try dining in, upstairs.
A. J.
Had Battered sausage and chips yesterday best chips ever and the batter was not greasy like most chip shops. I would definitely recommend this chip shop.
g. h.
Always a great place for fish and chips. Good sized servings
e. B.
Best fish and chips
S. H.
Amazingly good fish and chips.
C. T.
Really delicious gluten free fish and chips ,and big portions .
J. A.
Very good fish and chips.
Service was a bit slow as busy and staff getting told off in view of customers was a bit off putting.
M. T.
Fantastic scampi and chips x2
Little be pricey just over 14 quid but good quality food.
E.
Love the fish and chips here. And you can order gluten free which is only a few doors away. Great and helpful stuff.
G. S.
Very yummy. Get the mushy peas and take your chips to the sea front. Fantastic portion size. Friendly service!
T. P.
Lovely chips, and the haddock was great! Not busy when we visited, and we got served straight away!
Good value :)
M. V.
We've visited this business several times for taking away food but they have tables and chairs outside too, so we could sit down and enjoyed the Marina view 😊
I. R.
Food was okay, Scampi seemed to have been forgotten about as it was brown going black, the burger was greasy, service was ok, had to ask for table to be cleaned, very cramped searing when full. Was ok in general though
A. H.
Highly rated, good quality fish with large portion of chips. The cafe is generally busy and on the small rather cramped size although there is an upper area that I have not seen. There is also a very active takeaway trade.
J. G.
Fish and chips were tasty but not greasy and my wife had Gluten Free fish and chips which also were very good. Would visit again
N. N. N. N.
Amazing food and affordable .. great location.. great staff
L. C.
Nice halloumi and chips, best fish and chips I've had for a while, definitely recommend
P. R.
The fish and chips in here are fantastic I am sure my fish was do fresh it was still moving. Portions are very generous and the staff are brilliant.
S. B.
Always great food at great prices and friendly staff. Our favourite fish & chips on the Barbican.
p. R.
Best fish and chips I've ever had. Staff are super efficient, polite and friendly.highly recommended
G. L.
Was lovely, the chips were crisp yet fluffy & the batter on the fish was light and not at all greasy best fish & chips I've ever had
C. A.
Gluten free in dedicated takeway 3 doors up from main restaurant. Amazing Cod & Chips cooked to order. Available in the restaurant too.
M. W.
My wife is a celiac, so love the fact that you have a separate shop. Brilliant. Fish and chips great too. Thank you
C. T.

Got scampi, chips and fishcake, staff were more interested in the music playing, not very helpful. Food was below average.

Very nice fish n chips. Expensive. Cut costs !!!cut carboard!! and free promotion plastic bags, !!! and put in paper like the old days . Then it would be cheap as chips, saving the planet.

Love it better than Kingfisher out here . Chips are chips
Not full off bits in bottom off tray . Kingfisher has lost out again . Allright when Graig was in there . Rubbish without him .
Harbourside all the time now everytime we go in town

Chips only tonight, and they weren't bad but I can see why they came 3rd! 😂 Still the best on the Barbican... but are West Hoe Fryers better? Try them and see...

Delicious fish and chips. I would recommend the haddock. Ask for a take out and go eat it at the pub next door for a complete change in decor.

Nice but not sure I'd present it an award. Busy restaurant and very close to the marina. Food was good but not great, service very friendly but not speedy - which is not an issue for us as we like to take our time. Clean and welcoming
