Can't stress how good the food is. Considering the owner has retired, he sure does have a passion for food and fantastic customer service by hiring wonderful staff and creating an atmosphere of a holiday at home. It's warmth and smell emulates that of a real Turkish experience. The taste of the food is second to none in anywhere on the Barbican and the building is full of character that you simply can't forget. Love this place ❤️

KAPADOKYA: A Not So Hidden Gem We loved our time at Kapadokya, it’s a truly wonderful and authentic Turkish restaurant. The service was spot on with lots of useful information for all of our questions about the extensive menu. I had the Chef Special Chicken Ouzo and my wife the Sweet Spicy Chicken. The chicken was cooked perfectly moist and my sauce was bursting with flavour. Having visited Turkey many times before the decor is like being back in a Turkish taverna and the music creates the ideal atmosphere. We only wished we hadn’t had such a big lunch that day or we would have tried many more of the dishes. Set just 1 street back from the main drag the setting is perfectly tranquil for this gem of a family run restaurant and just a 20 second walk from the seafront. Whenever we’re back in Plymouth we will definitely eat at Kapadokya! Thank you.

Beautiful food and lovely, friendly staff. Tried to sample as many different things as possible as everything sounded delicious, and glad that I did! Restaurant is very nicely decorated as well, and has a good atmosphere. Haven't been before and didn't even know it was here, but will definitely be bringing friends here now I know about this gem. My only regret is that with there being plentiful portions and so much I wanted to try, I didn't have any room for dessert - but that's just another excuse to come back again. :)

Absolutely love eating here. One of my favourite places. Food is absolutely amazing. Service is spot on. Took advantage of the 50% off in August. The food is very rich and flavourful and the portion sizes are pretty big so you will leave feeling full and satisfied. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated in a middle Eastern theme with stunning hanging lights.

Really delicious hearty food!! The chef special is amazing, and the dip platter starter is best to share, you could share that happily between four You will not leave hungry! Nice enough food, just a bit middle of the road with it, nothing to rave about. But if you are OK with an MOR Turkish, then fill your boots. Not really worth what was paid for it. Maybe 2/3 of the price.

This restaurant is in the heart of the Barbican, in one of the old original buildings. From outside it looks welcoming, like an old tavern. The staff on arrival are friendly and helpful. The waiting staff are very attentive. The food portions are large, so be aware. The quality of food is reasonably high, although the prices here are very high compared to the quality and ambiance, hence one star reduced.

Visited after many recommendations and were not disappointed. The food was outstanding, extremely tasty! Things like the calamari batter was very light and crisp, meat was tender and not at all fatty. Drinks were all good quality. Decor was lovely and lots of things to look at. Whole restaurant was immaculately clean, including the loos which were spotless and smelt lovely! Waitress was made us feel very welcome and was very friendly (very sorry we didn't have much change for a tip but we are back at the weekend so will make sure we do then!) Highly recommended!

Kapadokya is one of those hidden gems, a touch of Turkey without being a grotesque interpretation of what we think a Turkish restaurant should look like, it is a beautiful calm place where the music creates the ambiance, the food is fantastic and surprisingly filling, just the right amount of spice to be flavorsome and all this at price to make your wallet happy

This is one of my most favourite restaurants within Plymouth, however unfortunately of late I seem not to be lucky enough to receive table, Possibly due to the government eat out to help out. Welcoming and friendly atmosphere and good service. Tasty food and generous portions. The Turkish bread was worth the little bit extra cost. Our order included a good, rich moussaka, some tasty chickpea croquettes, and a simple, quite plain fish fillet. The unusual gins were fun to try.

You will not leave here hungry! The portions are very generous and the food is very high quality. This is the second time we have eaten here. The first time was about a year ago and we shared one of the set meals. There were lots of courses and it all tasted great. The second time we had the moussaka and the chicken ouzo - both were of extremely high quality and we both remarked that we would happily eat either dish! Very good service ,it didnt help by other guests in our group being late by 45minutes . The staff were very accommodating and coped with 14 people in the group with 3 young children . I must say that the waitress was realy good and made it so much easier with the children . The food was lush .

We have eaten here on numerous occasions-too many to mention! Last week was no exception to the usual-we were welcomed with open arms; made to feel like family and fed and watered accordingly. Nothing is too much effort and the ambience is 100% authentic Turkish-not least due to the owner and head chef being a Turk himself! If you're really lucky, you get to witness-and participate!-in a bit of belly-dancing; courtesy of Ameera Dance herself! And so to the food-mouth-watering, tasty and plentiful! No need to have a large lunch if you're lucky enough to be coming here at night-you will have your fill and an array of tasty wines to wash it all down with too. Homemade desserts by the owner for pudding-her chocolate mayonnaise cake is to die for! Thank you Ismail and Amanda for yet another unforgettable night...and a tighter waistband! We will be back-again!!

A short walk up an ancient cobbled street above the Barbican in Plymouth and you will find this gem of a place. My wife and I sampled Turkish food that time and were delighted with the flavours and presentation. Our waitress was very attentive, not intrusive but most helpful and we will go there again, and again!

What a find! Came across this little back street restaurant whilst exploring the old part of the Barbican. Were drawn in by the smells coming from the kitchen window as we walked by. The restaurant was quite quiet for an early Tuesday evening as was the whole of the Barbican. We decided to go for their special evening offer of two courses with a glass of wine. We have eaten in other restaurants on the Barbican when we have visited Plymouth but never this one. I opted for the lentil soup for a starter and my other half went for the hummus topped with pulled lamb. Both came with bread which we were informed was made by a local bakery just down on the Main Street. My soup was just perfect for warming me up and obviously home made as it wasn't the usual gloopy thick consistency that you get in lots of restaurants. I followed the waiters advice and squeezed the fresh lemon wedge into it. Delicious and fresh. For mains we had the chicken sis and meatballs. My chicken was cooked to perfection and the meatballs were lovely and juicy in a fresh tomato sauce. All washed down with a glass of the house red, very palatable indeed! We left feeling totally warm and satisfied and couldn't have asked for anything better for a mid week meal deal! Well worth hunting this place out (we even left with a cheeky take out of baklava for supper)

Absolute hidden gem on Plymouth Barbican, my partner and I have been back numerous times and always had a fantastic experience. The restaurant itself oozes character and the staff are warm and friendly and couldn’t be more accommodating. The food is authentic, fresh and unbelievably tasty and the portion sizes certainly do not lack! We always leave absolutely stuffed. The Iskender Kebap is a personal favourite followed by Baklava and Traditional Turkish Coffee. Fabulous place, we will be back again soon!
