Turned up at a very quiet point on a Wednesday, only customers in there at there. Atmosphere was well lit and warm, felt incredible in the booth. Staff was extremely friendly and very great at the job, food took proper time to come out, not too quickly so you'd think it was bad and not too long where you'd be concerned, was spot on timing. We ordered 2 steaks and they were absolutely phenomenal, protein was cooked perfectly as we requested and perfectly seasoned, the sides were very nicely done, not a single bit was left on our plates. Desert was fantastic too and very lovely. Our entire experience in this place was absolute perfection, gave our compliments to the chef who was delighted, perfect way to spend our 2 year anniversary, made the night perfect. Thank you so much, can't wait to come back! (Also very reasonably priced for the quality!)

Amazing customer service, the staff in there are really lovely and can have a laugh with you. I for sure recommend coming here but advise you to book as it seems like it gets very busy. The steak was F**KING gorgeous wow! It was very filling and thick. It came with a massive bowl of chips, which myself and partner couldn’t even eat all of them.. I want to come back here for sure. I had sirloin steak, and my dad had the porterhouse which was massive. My partner has a big burger and mother had a lasagna which came with a salad or chips. For desert I had a chocolate fudge cake with ice cream, now I don’t really like icing on cake but omg it was to die for. Really reasonable for price for sure There is parking right outside if you’re lucky to get a space, but if you’re in Plymouth or on a holiday, you need to come

I've never given a 5 star review, but that was an absolutely delicious rib-eye steak,just delicious. Also the Banoffee pie... Amazing. Also had the truffle and parmesan chip, crunchy and fluffy in the middle and the seasoning really made them great. If they don't change the name of this place to steak, chips and Banoffee pie, I'll be upset. Eat here, you won't regret it. Hit like if you found this review useful.

We popped in on the off chance for something to eat as the carvery we wanted was fully booked. You know what we struck gold. We didn't relaise they did a roast here and it was Amazing the beef dripping spuds and Yorkshire pudding was sublime. 5 stars and many many more.

I truly regret that we didn't have more time in Plymouth. Fortunately we found Steak and Omelette on our only free night. The name is misleading - there is plenty of choice. I asked about the 'Catch of the Day' and was offered the last brill. Simply pan fried with lots of butter, it was truly amazing. I know how expensive this fish is to buy and I didn't think the price charged was in any way excessive. My wife opted for lasagna which she thoroughly enjoyed. Both of us decided we had been unwise to have been tempted by the starters. whitebait for her and calimari for me. This was not because either was overpriced or in the least unpleasant but because I had to leave some of the chips and veg from my main course and my wife was defeated by at least half of her lasagna and most of the salad. The atmosphere was pleasantly semi formal, the other customers during our stay included a family group, several work colleagues and a few couples like us. The service was profession - extremely attentive (the offer to pack my wife's unfinished lasagna and separately, the salad, without being asked) but not pushy or intrusive. A really enjoyable experience. When we next visit Plymouth, I shall be back to recreate.

This is honestly my favourite restaurant in the UK, the steaks are mouth watering, the fried onions are amazing and the blue cheese sauce is delicious! We come here for any special occasions and to be wined and dined in luxury. We will be coming back many times more!

I knew this place had a reputable name for being popular but this was the first opportunity Id had to try it. We hadnt booked a table but thankfully they were able to accommodate us. We ordered bread w olive pil and balsamic vinegar to snack on whilst waiting for the food. I ordered Sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce. Instead of chips I got sautéed potatoes and my friend ordered sea bass and some cabbage with bacon as a side (of which she shared some) I have to say everything I had was amazing. My friend enjoyed the sea bass too. We also ordered wine. I tried the merlot which was good. The desserts on display looked amazing but I didn't have enough appetite to try one, but I will go back and try one at some point :-) The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The service was a little slow but they were really busy. I would recommend this place. Really wonderful experience. Thank you.

Some of the best customer service I've had at a restaurant. Everyone was friendly and in a good mood, they didn't make us feel unwelcome or that we were a chore to deal with. Another massive thing was that they addressed both me and my partner. Usually in restaurants we find servers will typically ignore my partner and only focus on me so it was amazing for them to feel included. Not only was the service amazing but the food was great. You can tell that the Chefs care about the food that they're making as although it was very busy it tasted amazing.

VERY GOOD AGAIN Second time visitor and if anything the service was even better and the majority of the food was very good, although a few bits were not available. Couple of suggestions. Less salt in the lamb sauce and the chicken wings were so hot they were difficult as well as messy to be picked up but these are minor things. I'm sure we will be back one day. This is not the cheapest restaurant on town, but why should it be. Sometimes you get what you pay for, and this is a good example. Cheers

The food is absolutely lush, the decor is clean, fresh and safe. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly and prices really good too. Will definitely come back again. Haven't been for a few years but it's where I bought my children one Sunday a month back in the 80s to learn about eating out and table manners and they're in their 30s and 40s now. I think I may need to start bringing my grandson for the same reason, it's a great place.

Came here yesterday with my partner for date night after we were very lucky to book a table. It was very busy when we arrived and we were asked to wait a little longer but this was fine as the staff were so helpful and polite and brought drinks outside to a table for us where we could wait. They were also taking part in the Eat Out Help Out scheme so it must have been very stressful with how packed it was but all staff were incredible. After apologising for the wait we were led to a really comfortable booth and a waiter quickly took our orders. We both had a 10oz sirloin with peas, chips and tomatoes and pepper sauce. The food was wonderful - I had no complaints. Really well seasoned steak, the chips were great, the sauce was delicious... The PEAS! I've never been so impressed by peas. The waiter quickly took our empty plates and offered a dessert menu but we were stuffed! We did get one more drink then they brought us the bill. The service was spectacular and the atmosphere very cosy and welcoming. Will return and definitely recommend!

Excellent friendly service and a wide range of steaks on offer. Expect to spend about £40 to £50 on a three course meal with soft drinks.They missed out on 5 stars because of the chips. The portion was big but they were a little small and overcooked. Steaks only came with peas and tomatoes so you have to remember to make side orders. That aside, I do recommed this excellent restaurant.

A great place to eat, I went with 2 family members and we all enjoyed the food. Great place, definitely would recommend it. It would be 5 stars if i wasnt made to rush my meal by the waitress. Telling me after she seats me on a table that i have 35 40 minutes until the tables booked. Love you need atleast an hour or more when your out for dinner and especially when you have kids, wich i did! Went for a steak and a few beers. Unreal steak! Not cheap but so good. I've never had a porterhouse steak before, I will definitely be having another in the future! Beer was pretty expensive but I guess that is standard these days. Chips were not great, I would have preferred thicker steak cut style chips, or maybe mash etc. But it all seemed irrelevant as the steak was the main attraction. Service was excellent, the waiter was really friendly and very informative regarding the sourcing of the meat etc. If you are looking for a luxury piece of beef the steak and omelette is a definite contender 🥊

I come to steak and omelette every time I go to Plymouth because the food is so good. Beautifully cooked steaks, and vegetarian alternatives (omelettes, pasta, etc). There is a good range of alternatives for people who don't like steak or omelettes. All of the Staff are friendly and helpful as well. It sounds a bit cliché but I would give it 6 stars if I could.

What a wonderful place. Staff are so welcoming and friendly. Josh the cheff there was so helpful, he showed and explained all the different cuts of meat with passion. He personally cut a T-Bone my request, he cut a perfect 26 ounce T-Bone and cooked it to perfection and made me som garlic cumbs which we perfectly with my steak. It was an absolute pleasure to eat there. Shame there isn't one in London.

(Detailed review below) Food & Drink ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ambience ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Accessibility ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Cost ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Service ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Summary ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Food & Drink 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Having been a patron of the Steak and Omelette Bar for over 40 years(!), I actually know little about their menu, apart from the fact, that in my humble opinion, they have the best Angus Steaks in Plymouth. I've never had a bad meal here, and the chips are amazing. We usually only have a main course, as we're too full for anything else, but on this occasion (someone else was paying!) we attempted the three courses. All were really good. The homemade banoffee pie is to die for! Ambience 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ We visited on a Tuesday early evening, the day after the COVID-19 Eat out to Help Out offer had ended, and it was still fairly busy. However, the restaurant has been very well laid out to cope with social distancing while maintaining a good ambience. Accessibility 4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The entrance, toilets and seating area are wheelchair accessible and on the same level, although the toilets are quite small and look like they could do with modernising. Perfect clean, and OK though. Cost 4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The cost of the food and drinks is in line with what I would expect to pay for a restaurant meal in Plymouth. The bill came to ~£150 for 4 people, but considering two of us had the most expensive steaks, this wasn't bad. Service 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The service was is always excellent here. It seems that every one of their staff is engaging, funny and knowledgeable. Summary 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Steak & Omelette Bar is one of the mainstays of my Plymouth restaurant experience. It had failed to disappoint me in over 40 years, and keeps going strong. The steaks are the best in Plymouth, and we will keep coming back as long as they'll have us…

What a lovely and friendly place I went to lunch. My waiter was very attentive, looked after me well throughout my lunch. I had roast pork with the trimmings, which was tasty and hot. I was offered extra veg should I have wanted any. Dessert I have fruit crumble and hot custard. This was also very good. I highly recommend this place if you are in Plymouth. Its about a 10 min walk from the railway station.

Over 30 years.... I've eaten here 3 times in total! Thankfully, not too much has changed as I remember it always being a basic style, honest staff and not trying to keep up with the changing styles of new age restaurants! My latest visit was for the Porterhouse Steak..... With some baked cherry tomatoes and a bowl of really nice chips too share. The steak came perfectly cooked....... The meat is as local as they could source and tasted so good that getting to the last few bites reminded me that living 300 miles away..... Means that my average of one visit every ten years, really needs to be changed! The main waiter, is a little bit noisy and over familiar with the customers for my liking....... But not to a level that I was uncomfortable. £28 for the meal with a lovely, bold and spicy red wine chosen for me...... Literally without fault! Really well done team!!

Good food and atmosphere with very friendly staff. The menu is mostly meat based with some vegetarian options, but no vegan options I don't believe. We were allowed to stay for roughly 2-3 hours as the restaurant is quite busy with a high turnover. I would recommend making a table reservation. Bathroom facilities available, with a baby changing room. The is on street parking, which is pay and display.

The food is wonderful in the Steak and Omelette, a great place to eat. Over the years this restaurant has changed its style of cooking but nowadays the selection is far better. You can have a traditional roast dinner or you could go for a delicious 3 course meal with steak or even vegetarian choices. The staff are very busy because there are frequently people queuing for seats, when the see the quality of the food people decide they are more than happy to wait for a table. Regardless how busy the staff they always make you feel welcome and on the whole they are very helpful. It would be good if they could recommend food and/or wine. On the whole the restaurant is excellent. It could do with better cleaning of window ledges. When washing tables they could do with using a clean cloth and hot water between customers ,also clean under tables. I understand how busy they are but perhaps at busy times someone could be responsible for cleaning and setting the tables. Definitely a restaurant I would recommend for any occasion, all age groups welcome and a menu to suit all tastes buds.

🥩 Went here for the first time on the recommendation of a friend. Certainly wasn't disappointed with my steak.
