Reviews of The Bottling Plant Ltd

Such a nice venue, it feels old ans characterful and very pleasant to sit in. very centrally located, nearby parking. I have been 3 times in the last couple of months and the food has been good every time. staff are always nice and friendly and its a great independent business and is a little gem. There's plenty of options on the menu if like myself you are veggie and the cockatils are rather good as well. Its not the cheapest place but I personally feel its worth it. Also if you love desserts you should defo try the dessert platter board!

This is just the best place. An amazing find. So relaxing with big leather settees. Very interesting and quirky decor. It's like being in your Grandma's lounge.
Don't miss going to the toilets. They are amazing!
The staff are friendly and the food looks good.
Check out the original Ming from Robowars winning tag team in pride of place on the high shelf. Definitely recommend a visit.

This is possibly the best Cafe & Bar in the British Isles. Its where traditional meets contemporary and eclectic. Interior design is all from reclaimed items which adds to the authentic feel and comfort. So interesting to relax and absorb the ambience. Food amazing, great menu and tremendous chef. Staff friendly, professional and keen to please. Thanks to James, April and Leonie - keen to please and engage. Drinks including a range of cocktails, wine and draft. All carefully served and top class. Must visit place when in Plymouth.

First time here and it was very nice. We had the afternoon tea with some friends. It was very nice and I'd come back again. Staff were friendly and attentive.
I've been back since for breakfast and the staff were very welcoming. Breakfast was nice and tea was tip top!
L. C.
It's a really nice cafe/cocktails restaurant lounge, the internal decorations are beautiful and the bar staff was very friendly and professional. It's just opposite the Plymouth gin distillery (and this was the old bottling plant for the gin distillery) I hope to come back here on my next visit in Plymouth

Visited on a Friday evening after a meal, expect top notch service on the door and throughout the establishment. Open kitchen, the food looked good and do did all the coktails. A ploughmans here costs £25, and gins costs around a fiver. Really lovely atmosphere and the building has lots of history. Well worth a visit.
M. L.
We liked that the restaurant was very historical with many antiques and photos. The display of the variety of fish we ordered was impressive and tasty.
They also accommodated us on short notice. We look forward to the next meal during future visits.
G. B.
Nice cosy experience, the place felt warm with lots of room and lots to look at. The cocktails were fab, they took a little while to get to us but they were very nice. A little pricey but given its right on the water and the Plymouth gin bar I'm not surprised. They were happy to have kids there too.

What a lovely little place this was. Me and my Wife were looking for somewhere for breakfast after both having a rare day off together and stumbled across The Bottling Plant walking into southisde Street.
Lovely rustic look inside, staff very welcoming and polite and not to "over friendly" that it seems fake and put on. Was nice not to be called sir and instead being called mate (the gent with the beard and top knot great customer service)
Food was on another level, presented well, perfect size portions, price was very reasonable and the main thing it tasted incredible.
Was looking for somewhere to go on the weekend for dinner with family and have found the place.
Keep up the good work.

Love the style, atmosphere, staff, delicious food and delightful coffee. Plymouth is a wonderful city, but it would not be the same without The bottling Plant. The place is Dog friendly and highly recommend.
M. K.
Had a really lovely evening here with friends and family. The service and atmosphere were amazing, and the cocktails were superb. A great place for a Friday night. Half of our tables food was great however, the other's food was overcooked sadly. It is a new menu though so this is probably just teething problems.
D. L.
Great food, great service. However, your big creepy "CCTV in Operation" signs displayed in ALL your toilets are disturbing to say the least. Would have had 5 stars otherwise.
H. M.
Met up with friends here great atmosphere really welcoming.
We turned up with a large group 9 of us and had not booked and were really accommodating.
Great Cocktails 🍸

Had a lovely evening at the bottling plant. We had sharing boards Wich were beautiful and delicious and good value. The wine and atmosphere were equally lovely and the service was excellent. Will deffo recommend and return.

What a lovely venue. We hired the board room upstairs for my mums 50th birthday surprise. The facilities the room offers is great. They have a big plasma tv which the staff helped me to set up a slide show and a music system so you can play your own playlists. We had the afternoon tea which was delicious and the selection of gins and cocktails were amazing so much choice! Even before the event Tracey was so accommodating. All the staff were so kind, attentive and went above and beyond to make my mums birthday celebrations so special. I would defiantly use the board room again for future events. And I’ll defiantly be back for food and drinks very soon. Thank you all so much!
H. L.
Excellent venue for cafe light bites, coffee, drinks and the all important cocktails.
The decor is a great reflection upon the rustic building from its stone floors, beer barrel tables and wooden tavern style bar.
Recommend a visit as the staff are friendly and the food is tasty.
E. A. N.
Fantastic food and service! Chef made the cooked breakfast vegetarian for us, going that extra mile for customers. Amazing iced coffee here - definitely get it! Great atmosphere. Love the decoration in the toilets
P. H. P.
This is a stunning new venture in the heart of the historic Barbican. It seems that no expense has been spared on the decor from the furnishings to the lighting to the wall art, everything has a touch of class. Friendly staff, good service and excellent food. A little pricey but acceptable considering your surroundings!
Our sharing meat platter was adequate, but only because we added some ciabatta as a side order - the 3 crackers on their own would not have been enough.
(The cream tea served to an adjoining table was the smallest I have ever seen!)
Lovely comfy sofas and armchairs where you could relax and read my book "Professor Harry Parker and the Tunnels of Argonaut Bay" by Steve Pick available on Amazon kindle.
Overall good experience.
K. J.
Lovely place. Looking around alot of care and attention has gone into the deco giving it an authentic feel with the quirky aspect of food and drink being available.
I had the best Hunters chicken and a cool fruit cider my husband had a ploughman's but found the cheese about plain he washed this down with sharps Atlantic.
This kicks the other big brand pub across the road out of the ball park.
If the road outside could be shut down in the evening - the 'cruisers' are an accident waiting to happen and contribute nothing to the tourist trade this would help the cafe/bistro pavement culture and give the area a certain vibe of its own.
J. K.
Such an amazing vibe. Love the eccentric decor and the feeling that no two tables will give you the same experience. We sat by on the couch by the corner and thoroughly enjoyed the chilled experience.
We had late dinner here and ordered the seafood plate to share - probably some of the tastiest prawns I’ve ever tasted. Cocktails - uniquely made!
The service was excellent, everyone so friendly and accomodating.
Thank you for the experience :)
J. D.
Visited for lunch, the fresh catch of the day, sea bass, was absolutely incredible so fleshy & tasty.
My partner had the burger however was slightly disappointed as it was quite dry.
Cocktails were delicious & the service was good.
The decor was eclectic, love that old meets new.
Overall was an enjoyable lunch.
C. J.
Lovely, atmospheric place to grab a coffee/brunch/lunch/cake near the Barbican.
The decor is fabulous, and my personal favourite areas are the bathrooms - each hand painted by a very talent artist. The time and effort that has gone into renovating this building is evident!
Kind and helpful staff who always have a smile on their face!
Everything is well priced which is very refreshing!
We’ve been for brunch and lunch now, and are looking forward to coming back for evening drinks in the future.
C. W.
Such an amazing bar/restaurant. Cocktails were exceptional and the service was fab. Would thoroughly recommend if you’re visiting Plymouth!
A. H.
Top cocktails, nothing to envy to some iconic places in London. The paintings and art are magnificent.
N. K.
Stopped here for cocktails after tour at Plymouth Gin Distillery on Saturday. The cocktails were presented really well and were absolutely delicious ! Staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome.
T. H.
Fantastic service, great choice of wines and cocktails, and excellent food, including day-caught fish. Their signature sausage & marmalade brioche is delicious! Highly recommended.
S. G.
Love this place. Great food and very friendly staff. Had a chat to the owner as well. My 83 year old mother and my 20 year old daughter also love this place.
J. S.
I went solely for the port / cheese board and it was ok - but only ok. The three ports were good - a nice variety and served at their respective appropriate temperatures - but the cheeses and biscuits were no more than mediocre.
A stilton, a cheddar and a brie aren't exactly exciting and the biscuits were straight out of a Jacob's multipack, which made the whole thing slightly underwhelming - especially for the price.
There was a chutney that was pretty good and was screaming out for a mature, crumbly cheese or a deeply flavoured goats' cheese.
The atmosphere was ok, but it felt a little pretentious to be honest - the mismatched furniture and decor made it all look like it was trying a bit too hard.
I'd possibly go again, but there is so much choice in Plymouth that I wouldn't put this place high up my list.
Overall, The Bottling Plant has a good theme and some nice ideas (some pretty cute tea services, for example, that would be great for cream teas) but falls a little short of the mark.
E. S.
Lovely ambience, we only had a drink but the food being served looked lovely. Would definitely recommend and will return.
J. B.
Excellent food, good selection of beer, including a brew called Brixton which is a micro brewery in Brixton, south London and excellent staff.
K. H.
Often walked past it, but happily went in today. Much bigger than I imagined but so cosy. Beautifully furnished with arm chairs, tables and chairs and comfy sofas. Had a dessert treat with coffee and glass of wine. Yum. Will go again for a meal for certain. Lovely staff, loved the ambience, would definitely take friends and family there. Well done
M. W.
Went for a brunch before going on plymouth gin distillery tour.
The staff were lovely and the food was great and reasonably priced given the location.
Would recommend to couples or families.
N. K.
The food was exceptional, and the wine fab 👌 service...AMAZING
k. b.
Good choice of cake, snacks and meals including sharing platters. Also serve very nice choice of cocktails.
G. F.
Random find. What a place. Beautiful, historical old building with lots of history. Staff happy, friendly and attentive. The mixologist knows her stuff! Amazing!!
We'll def be back. Cheers guys
G. C.
Had the bad luck of booking on a day the boats didn't go to sea due to the weather so no fish on the menu disappointing but understandable, we went for the sharing platter which was delicious
P. E.
Interesting, characterful venue that is recently opened and well presented. Staff are pleasant and efficient, though at times could be a bit more alert. Food is tasty and drinks good at reasonable prices. Quite noisy for someone wearing hearing aids as there are lots of hard surfaces for sound to bounce off and the place can be busy. We will go there again. Update - second visit midweek. Service still ok but food disappointing for the cost. Coffee machine switched off before we finished: not happy.
P. S.
Absolutely love this place, food very good it has a very colonial feel, staff very attentive too, dog friendly, which is a bonus.....
D. T.
The cocktails were probably the most alcoholic we tried. (in a good way!) Really lovely, and the staff were very friendly.
Had chocolate brownie in there as well. Also very nice. The ambience was good and decoration was eclectic and interesting. Would definitely return.
A. T.
Quirky little place suitable for breakfast, lunch and meals out as well as coffee and amazing cake lovely little Gem.
S. G.
Very good cocktails and dessert was tasty and also,
Mr husband favourite, Experesso Martini are the best
J. B.
Delicious sharing platters and salads, friendly and helpful staff and great value for money. Would recommend The Bottling Plant if you are on South Street, Plymouth.
H.
We really enjoyed our visit to the Bottling Plant. The decor and ambience are to a high standard. The staff are very polite and professional. They have a private function room and those who remember Robert Wars, there's one on show
N. B.
Most amazing lobster thermidor! The best food out I've had in a long time. Will be going back for more.
S. B.
Great coffee, local cafe that knocks the socks of the national chains. Give try I think you’ll love it too.
W. J.
Great place, food excellent beer good. Would definitely recommend
W. M.
Lovely place, only stopped here for a coffee but the staff were so helpful & polite. Will be visiting here again for sure 😊....
S. W.
Love this place, lovely atmosphere, kind staff that cannot do enough for you, the bottling plant is dog friendly.
T. G.
This place is an absolute delight. Its decor is lovely and you get that cozy feel as soon as you step through the doors. Service is excellent and all the staff are so friendly and welcoming. The food is first class. Absolutely delicious. I will definitely be returning. Thankyou for a totally enjoyable evening
W. C.
Friendly and attentive staff, small menu but full of flavour, high quality food, pricing is decent for the quality of service.
Dog friendly, alternative milk available, and LGBTQ+ friendly
L. A.
Really interesting building and very well refurbished. Wonderful staff and the manager could not do enough to make our visit a positive experience. Great food and coffee. Memorable for all the right reasons #lensomy
E. M.
Staff were lovely and drinks were really nice, would definitely go again :)
R. W.
Just discovered this place, will definitely be going back. Best cocktails yet
L. P.
Great for a drink. The atmosphere and drinks are great. Food isn't up to the pricing however, just misses the mark.
M. W.
The food was very good and the staff were lovely. Well done to all
S. G.
We discovered the beautiful restaurant by chance after not being able to get a table at the Slug and Lettuce. Well, no more Slug and Lettuce!
The food was plentiful and delicious. Service was greatand the overall look and feel of the place was fabulous. It has a fantastic ambience and we will definitely be visiting again.
N. C.
Delicious tasting lunch & a couple of cocktails..... fab afternoon catch up with a friend 💞
J. W.
Wow wow wow fantastic place. Amazing staff and cocktails. Fabulous service from Martin and Josh. Also have to mention the cocktail barman who never seemed to stop.
Will definitely come back again and will definitely recommend the bottling plant to friends.
Thank you so much for a fabulous evening.
D. C.
Been here twice for lunch. Excellent food and service. A very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere in an interesting building that has been sympathetically decorated. Will definitely be visiting again for food and drinks.
S. R.
Just had my mum's birthday meal here and it was fantastic. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It also has a lovely atmosphere, we'll definitely be back 😊
F. H.
Great choice of cocktails and friendly staff! In old Robert Lenkiewicz studio, rich with history and antique decor. Plenty of space and food menu too, something to try next time. There is a little bit of outdoor seating, but plenty of indoor space, perfect for colder evenings. Totally recommend and worth a visit.
M. L.
Astoundingly good veggie breakfast and decent coffee. Service was spot on too. Thanks! 💚
L. H.
Surprise birthday celebration here, could not have been better. Professional, attentive unhurried service on a quiet rainy Monday afternoon. Beautiful seafood, good coffee and elegant cocktails. Classy but understated. Thankyou so much for a lovely afternoon
A. W.
Fantastic little place, friendly staff, excellent food and drink! I will definitely return!
A. M.
Nice atmosphere, busy without appearing too crowded. Service was friendly and the menu was interesting as well as being reasonably priced. A good addition to the Barbican. We look forward to our next visit.
The second visit was as good as the first. Not a huge vegetarian selection on a new menu, but good nonetheless.
Z. D.
What a lovely place to visit. The decor is perfect, the staff were great and the food (toasties) were excellent and reasonably priced. Will definitely be visiting again if we are in the area.
F. C.
Excellent find. Just came in for a quick sandwich. Great service.
F. P. d. L.
Had an afternoon tea for two and it was really good. It also was dog friendly so we were able to go with our pup
A. H.
Staff was great. We hadn't book a table, but they arranged for us to be seated. However, food not at the level expected. Chicken cordon bleu was overcooked on the border of being burnt.
R. M.
This is a semi-new (opened just before lockdown) bar/cafe/restaurant, and is beautiful inside. We booked a table for some cocktails, which were great. Beautifully designed with a lot of history in the building, too
M. H.
Really lovely place and the staff were great.
My only disappointment was the food. Very overpriced and very small portions. Such a shame.
G. F.
I was here on Sunday for my friend's baby shower. The staff were so accomadating and made the whole afternoon really lovely. Great coffee! Thanks guys! Will definitely be back!
G. B.
Fab place for lunch, serving a choice of light bites or main meals without the usual 'lunch menu' cut off time. Delicious vegan baguette. Nice atmosphere. Thanks!
M. A.
Very friendly door supervisor. Stopped in when looking for somewhere dog friendly to eat on a Friday evening. Great atmosphere. Very reasonable prices. Food was fantastic. Very good.
A. N.
Lovely little place for a stop, good selection of Vegan food. Unfortunately the bombay prawns I had were a little tasteless, lot of lettuce, minimul prawn and a lot of curried mayo on top, well presented though. A bigger concern was some of the bar staff not wearing masks. They do encourage you to use the track and trace and indeed I had a contact alert on the NHS app a couple of days later, the staff should be setting an example either side of the bar and not letting everyone else down.
C. G.
Popped over to Plymouth from Cawsand on the ferry for a little meander and some lunch. Very pleased to find this place. Fully clued up on coeliac disease. Had a seafood sharing platter which was way above my expectations and came with a really good seeded gf bread. Good cocktails and a decent wine list. If I'm in Plymouth again, I will make a return visit.
M. C.
Friendly service with a range of beers but appears to be mainly a gin/wine bar. Food can be purchased from light bites to meals. Note though if you're a real ale connoisseur there's none on tap.
H. P.
Had a really great time at the bottling plant. They make the best cocktails! Their pina colada is my favourite. Was even able to had a really nice chat to one of the cooks there, Jimmy. He was really nice and very professional.
K. N.
Loved it. Fantastic cocktails and a super relaxed atmosphere. Great place to chill and great service.

C. W.
Best place that I have been to in Plymouth. Lovely atmosphere. Friendly staff. Amazing cocktails and great food. Good value and well worth a visit.
K. T.
My favourite new opening of any hospitality venue in Plymouth . Quirky, great atmosphere, food and drinks offerings are excellent.
And with all hospitality venues you really do have to have all the above ,and great staff are a must ! Which all the staff I’ve encountered on my many visits have been exceptionally good .
As a hospitality professional my self I appreciate all the good things that this venue offers .
C. O.
Lovely place for a drink . Service a little slow considering how many staff on though. Lost out on a round as we had to move on to a restaurant . Will return despite this.
J. V.
Cute place! A bit pricey for what you get, but still a nice meal and good drinks.
I. C.
A real gem. Lovely food and a unique atmosphere. Perfect to while away an hour whilst waiting for our distillery tour.
A. K.
Wonderful atmosphere with friendly attentive staff. Great food and well priced too! Would definitely recommend.
J. M.
Nice place, but when arriving at 10pm we were told it was last orders and they were closing? Surely open for another hour? Disappointing
E. S.

Always enjoy. Staff very friendly
T. A.
Great new atmospheric wine bar and cafe, with really good coffee and very friendly staff. Looks like this will be a new highlight of the Barbican once it opens post-Covid lockdown. Hoping they'll be stocking some craft beers, but owner was still finalising drinks lists when we were there.
F. F.
Nice food off not a huge menu but what they do they do well. Great building and space to eat in too, very well fitted out, def worth a visit.
S. T.
Good food, although not what we had originally wanted. Drinks were slow to arrive, as few staff.
j. m.
Great decor, staff, wine & surroundings! We'll be back as the food also looked 1st rate, thank you.

Alles wirkt sehr sauber. Bezahlung ist auch mit Karte möglich. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Great restaurant with a tasty selection of food. It is pointed out in the menu beforehand that the preparation of the dishes and cocktails can take a little longer, as everything is freshly prepared. I think that's great. Since there wasn't much going on, we were served our ordered drinks and food very quickly. The service was very friendly and attentive. There are several toilets. Everything looks very clean. Payment is also possible by card. We recommend.
