Reviews of The Harbour Seafood Restaurant & Takeaway
V. M. V.
Wonderful experience and very courteous staff. We went to the restaurant just before closing, but the staff were very helpful and served all our orders without any hesitancy. Appreciate your efforts. The sea food was delicious . The best were Chilli Poppers and tacos. We will highly recommend. The Chicken burger was just decent and lacked flavors.
M. R.
Delicious, perfectly cooked fish. This restaurant had everything! Excellent service, with friendly and helpful staff, particularly when not knowing what to order or places to go for drinks in the evening. The food was excellent, the different types of fish were grilled to perfection and all tasted amazing. The views were stunning and I will most certainly be returning back here. Absolutely faultless.
E. F.
The best fish and chips I have had in a long time. The portion was enormous. Couldn't finish it but was delicious.
The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The first time I have been here, and certainly will not be the last.
D. F.
Wow wow wow.... what an amazing experience we had here. It starts with the de or of the restaurant, fantastic ... and then the food... so fresh and delicious. Prepared by people that clearly understand seafood. It was prepared with the expected care and respect... just delicious. The pics will not make justice... must try when in Plymouth! The team was really nice, very polite and very helpful. Service was seamless.

If you like seafood then this is the place for you.
Highly recommend eating here, lots to choose from and cooked to order.
The decor is amazing and my 5 year daughter loved looking at all of the paintings and seeing the Lobsters in there tank.
Large portions for your money which is great. Lots of options for children and vegetarians.
O. S.
We had FANTASTIC fish and chips from the takeaway restaurant - on three consecutive days, so it wasn't just a one-off. The staff was friendly and service was fast. The fish was very fresh and the batter was light and crispy - perfectly cooked! Portions are generous. The location is also amazing right by the harbour.
T. T.
Fish and chips was absolutely gorgeous.
The staff were so lovely and friendly.
Kind male, didnt get the name, went to the shop to check if they had soya milk, which he didn't have too. The staff are so lovely. The restaurant was amazing and clean. Great view of the harbour whilst eating. Worth the money. If we come back to Plymouth would defo visit again.
Great to visit.
J. T.
We liked the food and the friendly staff but it was rather expensive. Well done to the chef for let our kids have a look at the lobsters.
M. C.
Had a great experience at The Harbour Seafood Resturant today. We had a table near the open kitchen which was great to see all the Chef's at work. Our waitress Laila was fantastic. My son was taken by the Lobsters in the tank & wanted to see one & Leila got one out the tank for him to see & touch. The food was cooked really well & the Chef's did a great job. Would defo recommend family & friends visiting Plymouth to go & eat at The Harbour Seafood Resturant.👍👌🦐🦀🦂😁
S. G.
Bustling harbour front location with a modern and vibrant decor. Efficient and attentive waiting staff provided an excellent service that complimented the food. The generous portion of Cod and Chips were perfectly cooked; the fish served in a light crispy batter with no oily residue to spoil the experience. Fairly priced and thoroughly recommended.
T.
The place is great all round. Meal was brilliant, even down to the mushy peas. Sea bass pretty much melted when cutting it. Didn't have to wait too long after ordering either. Only minor nit pick is the bottle of mayo (for chips) being pretty much empty but that's a tiny issue. Great job. Would go again.
D. m.
Amazing food, staff were extremely courteous, had us seated immediately. Nice view of the docks right near. Only down fall when we requested the bill they forgot, and they forgot the mushy peas, but minor in comparison to the amazing experience!
S. H.
Decore was great and staff was super friendly... Pan fried fish was cooked perfectly was disappointed lobster 🦞
had sold out and only had large one at £99. In all was happy but I found the prices a little too expensive we payed about £70 for what you see in the picture plus 3 drinks.
I. T.
Loved it here. The atmosphere is amazing. Mesmerising pictures of mermaids all over the place.
The food was real tasty, especially the seafood salad
M.
This restaurant is located on the water in the barbican so you may be expecting an over priced tourist trap but we were completely blown away by the food. In fact it was possibly the best fish and chips ever…..
The batter on the fish was excellent (we tried the local Hake and definitely recommend that) but we also had some grilled mackerel which was delicious too.
There are plenty of other great sounding options to choose from but to be honest it will be hard not order exactly the same again next time. Oh and did I mention unlimited chips?!
F. M.
I have IBS and avoid gluten so it was nice to find out when I visited with family that The Harbour does gluten free batter. I had cod and chips with salad (in place of mushy peas). The cod was perfectly cooked and the batter was beautifully crisp and you couldn't tell it was gluten free, it was so light. The chips were lovely too, just the right quantity. Perfect fish and chips for anyone with gluten problems.
A. L.
This is THE best fish and chip restaurant in Plymouth. If it wasn't we wouldn't have had my hubby's 70th birthday afternoon surprise there, and it wouldn't have been the place we introduced our 18 month old grandson to fish and chips. The staff are great, the food is so fresh and tasty, especially the cajun prawns and prawn tacos, and its affordable. We love it!

Very nice meal. I would eat there again. One star dropped due to the casual approach to service. The staff presented as generally untrained in table service skills. Arguably that is a staff management issue. Though they were all polite, so that is good.
A. L.
Food is amazing and fresh, and the service is top notch. I had the monkfish curry.
E. C.
Everything is always cooked to perfection and staff are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble. 3 adults and 2 teens were fed and watered quickly and efficiently. The kids meal was decent, the fish and chips were really fresh and tasty and the moules mariniere were to die for....... more bread was needed to mop up the sauce but I didn't have the nerve to ask!!!! Amazing every time we visit. We'll done guys.
G.
Great location and choice of seafoods, as well as a few options for non fish and allergy like gluten and dairy free. Staff very welcoming and attentive. Plenty of parking nearby , Great for groups or couples , would upload some pictures but it was that good we forgot till after 🙃😋🌮🥘🦐🦐🦐
D. D.
Amazing fish and chips, great service, great atmosphere. Wife had fish tacos which were delicious, and sister in law had the vegan calamari which were surprisingly good as a vegan alternative!
D. D. C.
Best take away fish and chips, every time I've been here the fish is cooked to perfection.
In the restaurant, which has a different menu I have had a great crab sandwich and savoured the mussels on two occasions, if only I could afford the lobster!
R. S.
Very nice and tasty grilled and fried fish n chips. You can have unlimited chips with your meal. Very good service. Loved it.
P. A.
Excellent meal in superb surroundings and friendly cheerful staff
G. S.
Reasonably nice place with a good view of the marina. Locally sourced seafood is the main draw.
A little over priced for what it's worth for the food, but it's nice. The vibe of the place is a little young. No non-diary milk was a bummer.
K. B.
Found the food very good. Good place to eat when visiting Plymouth around the Mayflower Steps area. The menu was varied with good selection of seafood. Plenty of seating for social distancing. My only small issue was cleaning of the tables. The chefs worked very hard with good selection of fish dishes. Dog friendly and nice surroundings.
S. H. S. (.
Great service and food. I liked the grilled fish more than the batter one. Former was haddock; latter was cod.
J. M. D.
Best seaside ambiance while having your bestselling fish and chips!!!
G. B.
Very happy and satisfied by this place.
Location is great and service was really nice. Food was amazing and price is good given the location and the quality of food.
Fish and chip was big, fish was good but not the best we have tried so far.
Tacos with fish was perfect. Really great use of sauces and spices that were creating a good balance with the different flavours.
I would recommend to go there if you want to eat good fish in a perfect location at a fair price.
J. A.
It was OK food.
But over priced and had far better fish and chips from local takeaways.
Child's Sausage and chips, was simply Sausage and chips.
I would not look to return.
J. L.
We came here for my birthday lunch and were not disappointed. I had turbot and a feta salad which was tasty and filling. I would have preferred a turbot steak, the fish I had was probably farmed I think but it was nevertheless good - I even ate the skin.
My wife had the clam and crab chowder and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Very helpful and friendly staff and a good view from our window seat. Thoroughly recommended.
K. V.
Lovely fish and chips but dare I say it but the portion size was too large? Next time we'll share one between the two of us.
Y. Z.
10/10 would return. I had battered haddock for supper and it was amazing. The portion is very generous. As a 165lb / 75kg person I entered the restaurant starving and left full. Neither the fish nor the chips are too oily. The haddock was fresh, soft and steamy hot.
Residing next to the water, you can get a beautiful window view of the boats.
The servers were very friendly and initiates small talk (remember to tip them). The fitting is nice and the bathroom stalls are surprisingly clean.
The only set back is the price. My meal plus coke cost £16 so this is not the best place for broke college students like me.
Overall, a very pleasant experience. Definitely worth a visit.
J. G.
Food was a tad greasy even for a fish chip shop.
And a seagull crapped on our table..... albeit outside and in a harbour.
There was a ginger oke that looked like ed sheran so that was nice
M. V.
This place is absolutely amazing! We've been there so many times and never let us down. Huge and yummylicious portions, unlimited chips, the menu is suitable for any vegans, gluten-free people, cozy atmosphere and very friendly and attentive staff. Prices are more than decent.
I can't recommend'it highly enough. ❤️
B. L.
Crispy, lightly battered hake and chips. The scallop and prawns in garlic butter was also well cooked. Scallop tasted fresh and succulent.
H. S.
Absolutely amazing customer service and the food was brilliant. The range of fish available was incredible and being a coastline restaurant you would expect good quality seafood... this restaurant does not let you down. Highly recommended and value for money.
O. N.
Great fresh seafood! I am obsessed with trying new things and this place is amazing. Service – just lovely! Delicious! Wonderful views on marina as well and bubbly prosecco!
A. B.
Had a lovely Sunday meal here, staff were very quick and courteous. Fish was lightly battered and cooked to perfection.
D. M.
As always delicious food, so fresh fish. Lovely views on boats port and dog friendly place. My dog love it. Thank you, and never change only get better please.
J. W.
Delicious fish and chips for us and the kids. Nice and friendly staff with great service and everything cooked fresh. Great open outlook right onto the harbour. Brilliant lunch
L. C.
Fantastic meal for my mums birthday, great service amazing food highly recommend
T. S.
Probably the best fish and chips I have had. Cooked to perfection in a light and crispy batter, yum.
Good selection of Gin served with quality tonic, good beers and a local one.
Staff were friendly and helpful, very pleasant place for lunch overlooking the harbour.
E. F.
The food is absolutely delicious and the setting is perfect. Love the ambiance of the place and you don't feel crowded when sat at the table as there is room to move even if all the tables around are occupied. Will definitely visit again.
L. C.
Food is amazing, recommend the scallops and prawns. Amazing range of different fish and also have vegan and veggie options. The service was good, the staff were very friendly and helpful. If you have the chance, I would fully recommend visiting here. Make sure you book ahead as they were quite busy. Best fish and seafood I have ever eaten. The halumi sticks were also AMAZING.
D. K.
A delicious fish and chip meal, probably the best I have ever tasted. Highly recommended with fantastic location. Indre, provided excellent customer service.
C.
Amazing food, welcoming and friendly staff, super location... If there would be 6* I would give them as per total was perfect.
Well done !!!
J. M.
Super traditional fish and chips with gluten free batter! So awesome! They will even grill your fish if you prefer! Their homemade tartare sauce deserves a mention too. All this and great customer service too. Fabulous meal for the whole family (when we went there were 4 generations in our small party). We all went home happy and well fed. Highly recommended.
M. P.
Amazing, delicious VEGAN fish & chips!! Other vegan options too that I must try next time!
Highly recommended 👌
Fantastic setting with views of the harbour, comfy seating and pleasing interior. Friendly staff too. Get yourselves down there! 👍
A. O.
Award winning fish and chips. Delicious Haddock and Chips with the most delicious dill enhanced tartare sauce
J. K.
Wow! The best of the best scallops burger! Found it through Google reviews, as we just visited the town for a day and it definitely worth to eat here.
A. c.
Great food and excellent service
A. L.
Very fresh seafood especially fishes. A great variety of daily freshly caught fishes. Great taste and nice ambience. Service was excellent.
P. E.
Really lovely food, very friendly staff. Had gluten free options. Highly recommended.
P. W.
Excellent take away fish and chips.
I had my first lunchtime meal with my family inside the restaurant today. It has a very relaxed feel and great decor. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was delicious and good value, everyone enjoyed their food.
T. B.
Very fresh, tasty fish and chips. Good service. Nice clean restaurant
J. L.
It only fish served here. I had a fantastic halloumi and avocado salad.
S. B.
Food was excellent! Service was on top form and a great selection for kids too. Will definitely return if in the area again 5*
C. T.
Best seafood restautant in Plymouth. Been here twice and good quality for both. Highly recommended.
K. H.
Best Place I have been to on the Barbican in a long time.
So welcoming me and my daughter had a delicious meal with a beautiful view. Would go again over all other fish restaurants to eat next time. I ordered a gluten free meal we both had cod. Huge plate for a child but she ate it all. Well worth a visit.
F. B.
Used to be 5 stars but it's changed since my last visit, it was average compared to brilliant previously.
A. S.
Food was really good, had the mixed seafood to start and then fish and chips. Batter was really light and crispy and chips were as you would hope. Service was a little slow.
C. C.
Service and attention was great, and then the food...
Would highly recommend and we will ho back.
D. S.
Booked a table for last Sunday and glad we did, very busy. Meals for us all was top class and reasonable priced....
S. S.
Good food , decent setting ,good staff.
Well worth a visit though a bit pricy
P.
We went there on a Sunday afternoon and ordered late lunch. The food came and tasted exellent, everything were made fresh and came in good portion size. Staff are approachable and friendly, quick service in general. The place has a good view to the harbour, clean and spacious, a casual place to dine. The only negative was during my meal I got very sweaty and felt like the place is not well ventilated.
T. S.
From staff to food, everything was fantastic. Portions were very generous and food was better than expected. Highly recommend the scallops with prawns (best I’ve ever had!) and mussels.
The staff were very attentive making sure we had everything we needed.
Loved being able to see the food cooked right near us too as we sat right by the kitchen.
Highly recommend!
M. G.
Brilliant service, very tasty food, fish was to die for and the curry sauce was incredible!!
J. K.
Food is great. Lobster was delicious. If you can get a window seat you can look out over the marina.
s.
Food good. Service was terrible. Young staff who have clearly not been trained for front of house. Simple things like asking for a second desert spoon for my wife and daughter to share their pudding took over 5 minutes to arrive, having paid for the addition of "endless fries" an option on the menu, ordering extra and then NOT getting them. One young lady with clear frustration with the service provided by others and whom had been very honest regarding and earlier issue relating to our 15 minute wait for drinks was very helpful and friendly she also applied a discount to our bill. Food when it arrived was very good, fresh produce and locally sourced.
S. t. B.
Had a great meal a few weeks ago. Food was lovely. The only reason it wasn’t a 5 Stars was purely the service. The girl that was serving us was brilliant, but I felt so sorry for them, as you could tell they were at least 5 front of house short, which meant we were just surrounded by problems and complaints. But as I say, we were in no rush, they were trying to cope...and the Food and Beer was pretty damn good! Just need to sort those Rotas out. Especially if the Sun is shining.
K. H.
Nice food, shame about the service. The waiting staff seemed very inexperienced, we waited quite a long time for drinks and for plates to be cleared. The manager along with the other waiting staff seemed more concerned with the one large table that they had in, they forgot about everyone else. If that was a Thursday night, I would hate to go here on a Friday or Saturday. Chefs obviously know their stuff though as the food was nice, but probably not somewhere we will return to, especially when Rockfish is right across the road.
K. P.
Wish I could have stayed another night in Plymouth, just so I could have visited this wonderful. Staff are kind and welcoming, food was fresh and tasty.
a. f.
Had I been sucked into a Touristy Fish and Chip Restaurant, after arriving into Plymouth?
Not one bit. Friendly staff upon entering, a great view over the Harbour & the menu covered off everything you would want.
Food any good? After being in Devon a week, this was the best fish I had eaten all week. Thick Cod cooked to perfection, with the lightest and crispiest batter.
I would definitely recommend this place.
M. H.
We did not book until a couple of hours before we wanted to eat but using their booking service it was quick and easy to do.
The food, as always, was lovely - freshly cooked and beautifully flavoured. The only reason that I did not give the full five stars is due to the waiting staff. After being seated and having waited for at least fifteen minutes, my husband had to track down someone to take our order. It was a similar situation after our main course, with having to go looking for someone to take our dessert order. A young lad came over and took the order but left our empty plates on the table. He then came back with my husband's coffee and once again left the plates on the table. When he returned with the desserts, he was just about to walk away again when I asked to take the empty plates. He seemed really surprised that we didn't want them left in front of us. I think the final straw came when another member of staff started to out the chairs on the tables around us (and another couple) while we were still finishing our drinks.
I appreciate that many hospitality venues are struggling to get staff but it would seem that, in this case, a little on-the-job training would be quite beneficial. Also, if you are going to advertise that you are open until 11pm, then it would be good not to make your customers feel that you are trying to get rid of them from 22.40.
Although it would seem that I have been highly unsatisfied with my visit to The Harbour, this is not the case. As I said, the food is amazing, location perfect and atmosphere welcoming. However, just a few tweaks to address the issues raised above, would make the difference between four and five stars.
S. B.
Best fish and chips i have ever had!
The fish was fresh with a nice crsipy batter, i highly recommend the Harbour to anyone that loves fish and chips
m. k.
Arrived promptly for our 7pm booking for 5 people. No table we was shoved to the side where some tables were away from the main eating area, made to feel like we was an inconvenience.
Starters and drinks arrived no issue, but the main came extremely late and orders were incorrect, wrong sides wrong fish, these were soon corrected. When the bill arrived we asked to pay separately which wasn't an issue, but was astonished to find we was overcharged by £20. This was soon rectified and compensated for poor service, was thoughtful but I'd prefer to be treated as a loyal customer not a second rate citizen which we felt we was treated as.
The food was good but to blame for poor service was new management isn't acceptable. For the prices on the menu I'd expect a bit more class, it felt like a pricey canteen. Smallest piece of hake I've ever encountered. There are better and cheaper.
J. F.
Good food but the service on our last visit was awful.
1. Nobody came to take our order until we flagged someone down
2. When the drinks arrived, one was missing.
3. We were still charged for the missing drink
4. When the food arrived, there was only 2 sets of cutlery on the table for 4 people.
5. When we wanted to pay the bill, nobody came so we had to go to the counter.
As I say, the food is good and the location is nice but the service (on this occasion) was awful.
O. B.
Great food and service! Their fish is certainly award winning! :)
C. A.
These guys really know how to do fish and chips. Plus service with a smile, a winning combination. Brilliant!
I. A.
Absolutely fabulous, the best fish and chips and first class service! Totally recommended!
K. M. (. a. Y.
Fantastic Vegan 'Sqid' rings andVegan 'Fish' & Chips. Bit noisy but quality food.

Amazing place, great food, lovely staff. The atmosphere is brilliant. Forget Rock Fish Plymouth, come here!
T. S.
Excellent food served by friendly and polite staff.
J. V.
Freshly tasting food. Good portions. Friendly, quick service.
A. R.
Very nice!! We had two starters (calamari and scallops with prawn) and the misto and special fresh bass for mains.
D. M.
Great haddock pea's and chips, very good service nice view of the port.
K. A.
I love this place, the decoration, great views, and the food excellent.
C. D.
I think this is the best fish and chips i have ever had and the fried hallomi was just as good
M.
Great seafood! Very fresh and good portion sizes.
P. R.
Food was great and service was good too. And they do NHS discount! 💙
S. D.
The best Haddock and chips I've ever tasted ld definitely come here again
A. F.
Our group of 11 adults and children were made immediately welcome the service was impeccable and the food was amazing and we did not have to wait even with the size of our order. Personally I have never eaten better crab ever! I highly recommend a visit if your are in Plymouth!
N. U.
Great food for a great price - fresh seafood and portions are huge! We went for a lunch time deal and the food was incredible! Staff were also willing to take part in our silly banter! Loved it
M. B.
Delicious food, very good service and nice view in an ambient atmosphere.
C. M.
Food was excellent but service was terrible. Starter was forgotten, drinks to a long time to arrive. We had to ask for cutlery as we weren't given any with our food. Took a long time to be cleared and get the bill. The food was excellent however so I would recommend staying out of the restaurant and just getting there wonderfull food to take away.
M. L.
Beautiful place looking out at all the yachts, great food and excellent service will definitely go back again next time I'm in Plymouth.
D. Z.
Very tasty and fresh seafood especially the calamari that I love it !! Very friendly staff and fast service !!
K. D.
The food is amazing - great quality of ingredients, very well cooked and the dishes are nicely served. The staff is very friendly. On the negative side, the service is slow because the staff is simply overloaded. Also, if feels like an atmosphere of an average bistro place does not really match the price level although the food is superb.
S. T.
The fish and chips I had here was excellent.
D. W.
I had the calamari and a haddock.
The positives, the calamari was fantastic and would recommend. Customer service from the young lady (Thursday) was excpetional, loved her energy.
The negatives, the haddock was a little greasy, and had a unusual eggy taste, not sure if this was the batter or the fish but disappointed.
Based on all the positive reviews I must of just been unlucky, however based on that I won't be returning when I come back to Plymouth.
R. F.
Really delicious seafood - literally the best fish and chips we’ve had and it’s in a great location with nice views of the harbour
BUT.. the service is appealing and let down the whole experience. Staff were all painfully slow, disinterested & inattentive (and we’re on holiday so we weren’t clock watching)
No staff member looked like they could be bothered.
Such a shame
A. H.
Food was good but overpriced. Good view but the restaurant was cold so had to wear a coat
T. W.
Lovely food as always. Service was a bit hit and miss today though. Some items not available on the QR ordering system so had to be added and paid for separately. Waiting staff seemed unaware of what the kid's meal deal constituted and it took 15 mins for 2 scoops of ice cream to be delivered.
C. A.
Great fish and chips, gluten free available
R. M.
Had fish and chips sitting on the harbour wall. Watch out for the seagulls they want your food. You can eat in or out either is worth it
K. K.
Best fish and chips I ever had. Friendly and helpful staff. Very nice decor of the restaurant.
T. G.
Lovely food, great staff.
R. D.
Been coming to this place for years, always great food but last visit (couple days ago) was our first since the start of covid and has new owner. The food was fantastic as usual but the decor sadly taints what was a lovely airy atmosphere that blended in with the water front. Now its somewhat odd artwork of mermaids and graffiti style art writing of "Love Harbour" everywhere. I'm not against the style but doesnt really fit the building/location weirdly. The other thing sadly was the manager, cold as anything, you really are just a number and whilst I couldn't fault the service, it didn't have that personal feel it once had.
A. T.
Enjoyed the vegetarian breakfast here, a good choice. Was very nice with great views of the harbour
E. S.
Great fish & chips, and the fishcakes are delicious
K. H.
Absolutely fabulous. Got takeaway for me and my children. Ordered using a touch screen, waited outside to be called in to collect my order. Very polite, friendly staff. Food was fab! Best fish and chips we've had for a long time
C. H.
We had a great time, good menu— definitely tourist prices but the gluten free fish and chips was amazing so totally worth it. Also, Sophie our waitress was phenomenal.
J. P.
Good quality fish served on the harbour front, best seats in the house are definitely by the window! The decor of the place is a little tacky but nice for families with children - especially appreciate the colouring in placemat/menus for the kids!
G. H.
Fantastic fresh food, reasonably priced. Friendly staff. Relaxing atmosphere.
w. m.
awesome food and beautiful fish and chips! waited a while for our food but it was perfect. definitely recommend
S. L.
Great food, quality and portion size💯
s. l.
Brilliant place to visit.full of history. And it has a Christmas shop !!!!.
J. T.
Lovely staff, good food, reasonable prices considering location. Central to the Barbican.
Very pet friendly (took my puppy for socialisation which she got a lot of).
P. B.
Fresh, clean, vibrant environment, friendly attentive staff and superbly cooked fish.
U. G.
Seems a little expensive and the restaurant felt cold - service was excellent
R. H.
The nations favourite. Delicious fish and chips. Perfect lunch with great views of the harbour.
A. P.
Was able to book for 7 the night before which was super simple and easy. Excellent staff, amazing food, good value, great vibe. Couldn’t fault. Thank you for an amazing experience!

OK, they were busy, but service wasn't great, some people got the wrong items initially and it's far from cheap.
It's not my favourite place to eat on the Barbican if I'm honest, but my Mussels were pretty tasty and a decent portion.
V. P.
Nice food. Unlimited re fills on chips!
J. P.
Outstanding meal good quality food. A bit of a hiccup with cutlery but put right a lovely young lady served our table very attentive and obliging.....
👍🏼
B. S.
The grilled fish is the best value for money as lately the battered fish is more batter than fish. I have found the service has really dropped recently. I’ve had it twice where the waiter takes the order and you essentially never see them again. The food is good but there is some frustration between the restaurant and the takeaway. You can get scampi to take away but not order it in the restaurant? A real shame with a couple tweaks this place will be as good as it was 2 years ago
M. C.
Food nice, atmosphere strange..
Fish and chips were tasty and fresh, although one of us ordered a salad that came past it's best and was mostly slimey which was a shame.
Found it odd that it says it is a family restaurant outside, but there are murals of topless mermaids inside and they played a Gary Glitter song on their playlist..make of that what you will.
Also no social distancing, we had to ask to move tables as we were definitely not one meter away from the next tables. They did move us though when we asked.
D. C.
My wife and I enjoyed a lovely lunch of fish and chips here recently. The food was excellent, the batter crispy, tasty and thin, the fish was perfectly cooked, succulent and flaky. The chips were thick, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. We also had mushy peas which were flavoursome and curry sauce, which was spicy and delicious. Would thoroughly recommend eating here, the service was good, it's nice and airy and everything was clean and tidy. Wish I could go there again, but I live some 300 miles away.
M. W.
Fantabulous! Great tasting, cooked to order, good portion size and did I say great tasting!! I've been a couple of times now and each time I've been impressed with my order. Fresh and tasty and on certain items you get unlimited chips (I've never had to ask for more as the portion I was given was enough). Slightly more pricey than your big standard chippy restaurant but so so worth it!! It's a AAA*** from me!!
E. W.
Fantastic fresh local fish filleted for you unlike a local rival who have got a bit lazy of late serving whole fish(in my opinion) . Red mullet was my choice. Service was a bit slow which is another consequence of covid - staff standing around chatting instead of serving customers because it all has to be done on the app!
r. t.
A popular harbourside establishment that has a fish based menu. A tad on the expensive side for some (£150 for 2 x adults, 2 x children) but we found the food and service excellent.
I'd probably return when I'm next in the area.
A. S.
Good food
M. S.
Very good food. Fish was fresh and delicious.
B. K.
We had our dinner here yesterday and it was super tasty, the scallops were so juicy, calamari was good too and served with Asian sweet spicy sauce. We loved both as a starter, then the fish and chips were so crispy and super hot, loved the presentation and the lady Jessica who served us was so good that she packed us the shells as well, which we can decorate in our house 😂, the other guy Sam was super friendly and talkative, had a really good evening there. Highly recommended ☝️😊
Thank you 😊
S. S.
I went here with my wife for tea one evening as I'd heard it was a really good fish and chip shop with several awards. Anyway, after waiting for about 20-25 minutes for my order (which was only a small order of Gurnard with chips and a cheesy chips with 2 curry sauces), the order was missing my curry sauce, I waited 5 minutes in the queue again to get it. I finally got to sit down and eat my food when I opened my box to find there was no chips! 🤨 So up I went again, to queue up for my chips, I was offered a tartar sauce (yaaaaay) for the trouble of queuing up for so long and getting my order wrong, TWICE! I said no obviously, you can meet the pot of 5p tartar sauce. I eventually say down to eat my food but to perfectly honest, it wasnt worth the wait, the fish was nice but the chips and curry sauce was meh😒, I couldn't see how it had won all these awards, it wasn't that great.
R. C.
The best tartar sauce we’ve ever tasted (and I worked in a seafood restaurant in school). Excellent fresh seafood. Three of us ordered fish and chips and a seafood mixed plate. Great variety of local fishes to choose from. I had the bake which was so light and fluffy. Also had a side salad for £1 charge and it surprised me - lots of fresh veggies in addition to greens. They apparently won the best fish and chips award for 2019. Super friendly staff too!
K. N. V.
We are from London and been here 3 times in 3 days:)))
Must-try mussels, lobster, scallops, oysters, crab :))) Everything is way better than we have in lobster and burger. Considering to move here to live just because of this seafood restaurant :))))
N. L.
Restaurant it looks great.
The food is great 👍👩🍳
I recommend
L. H.
Lovely meal fantastic staff great evening
A. C.
Simply the best fish and chips I've ever had! Delicious cod with a light and crispy batter, served with unlimited chips (literally unlimited!), peas and coleslaw. The location is great, just by the sea, the price is fair and the vibe is great.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Very recommended restaurant!
R. M.
Nice ambience, calm yet fun, especially as its right on the marina in the Barbican. Lovely food and great service with appropriate pricing. Heartily recommend.
A. M.
Really enjoyed my grilled hake and chips. The service was efficient and friendly. Worth pointing out that sides including chips are all ordered separately. The restaurant serves a wide variety of fish as well as traditional cod and haddock. Price wise it is at my top end for fish and chips.
m. g.
Nice food staff were really nice
M. C.
It was alright. I like how crispy the batter is and how soft and fresh the line caught fish is. The serving was big I couldnt finish it. If only I could. 😂
K. B.
Not much choice for non-meat eaters, other than pizza options. The pasta dishes were had were generous portions.
Staff were very friendly.
P. H.
Quite quick.crispy batter. Nice sized pieces of haddock. Plenty of thick cut chips some slightly soggy but generally nicely cooked.. Could have had more salt and better vinegar. Decent value. Enjoy.
D. S.
Our favourite Fish & Chip Shop on Friday Evening after a Hard week at work. Always Freshly Cooked and Great Service with a Smile. A Most Vist When On The Barbican.
D. B.
Great food, fab service, highly recommended
M. R.
The young lady who took our order was very efficient, informative and friendly. The food arrived fresh and hot. Good restaurant to eat in.
A. w.
What a lovely find this welcoming and friendly restaurant was with its great views of the harbour and boats. The freshly cooked food was extremely good value and plentiful. Ruth our waitress deserved every penny of her wage and then some. I hope the firm looks after her because her happy and helpful service rounded off a satisfied visit. Fully recommended for families, singletons, couples and groups. My friend and I will be returning on our next visit to Plymouth.
P. B.
Lovely fresh seafood beautiful with great friends
G. B.
Excellent fish and chips and good service
M. C.
Good, tasty food unfortunately let down by slow and disorganised service. Waited about an hour for the main course to be served and being in the furthest corner, we struggled to get any attention from the waiting staff.
D. F.
Nice freshly cooked meal enjoyed it but had to wait for bill
S. G.
My husband and I were very happy with the service and food today.
My husband had oysters and said they were delicious. Both our mains were excellent. The food is well cooked and beautifully presented.
The service was excellent. All the staff members were very friendly, pleasant and polite.
Wonderful experience xx Not over priced.
Thank you all 😊
H. B.
Best fish and chips I've had in a long time. Lovely food lovely staff will definitely be going again
A. H.
Superb fish and chips! Incredible taste at great value- we order from the takeaway and are never disappointed. Portion sizes have begun to dwindle somewhat since they’ve opened but still a main go-to place when visiting the west-country. Curry sauce is to die for.
R. S.
Fantastic food, great service and friendly staff. Definately recommended if visiting Plymouth.
T. M.
Visited last night (Monday) with my daughter and found the service to be exceptional from start to finish. Apparently they were short staffed but you wouldn't have know that. Lovely food off both adult and kids menu.. Highly recommended. 😁
K. T.
Excellent food good service great location and views of harbout.
G. F. A.
Great service, great portitions, worth the money.
Fresh daily fish.
Beautiful place and great staff.
T. A.
I liked this restaurant especially after getting out of the aquarium with the kids ❣️
R. O. G.
One of the best Fish I have ever had in UK in the last 3 years. Fresh and Taste !!!!! Delicious! Great service and environment!
k. c.
Great selection more than just fish & chips
Local drinks endless chips happy people
M. C.
Absolutely beautiful subtle taste, batter was perfect not an ounce of grease, crisp and golden. Service was impeccable. I really can't say enough about the food and staff. Young lady who served us was brilliant, even loaned us her personal phone so we could view the online menu. Many thanks.
c. b.
Great food, Great staff, the only issue is I noticed the manager removing his mask to talk to customers and colleagues frequently and the tables aren't spaced at-all.
A. O.
Fantastic food. Lovely place with the best view. Good service. Good prices (value). This place has it all.
J. I. R.
Lovely location by the marina, great decor inside. Friendly, attentive service. The food was fresh, well prepared & delicious. Recommended.
M. H.
Great food, wonderful staff, and a beautiful view while you eat. Can't ask for much more :) the service was a little slow, but it was fairly busy. The decor is what you'd expect from a fish and chip shop, but the menu was varied enough to be interesting.
N. P.
Chips were lovely and crisp. Since having a snack of chips, had a lovely meal there the fish was lovely and fresh. Great and helpful staff made us feel very welcome even though we hadn't booked a table.
L. T.
lovely tasty food. good atmosphere and comfy. the waiter seemed a little distracted and we had a starter missing and we had to ask twice for our wine but maybe he was having an off day. staff on the whole were very friendly.
J.
We went in here on a Sunday at about 1300(without booking) the lovely young lady found us a table, within 15 to 20 minutes the place was full.
The staff even though they were extremely busy, were fantastic.
The food was excellent, we all enjoyed everything we ordered.
Please go and try this place, you won't be disappointed.
A big thank you to all the staff x
P. E.
Went at a quiet time on a cold Monday afternoon, so the place was quiet. A nice, modern conversion of the building provides comfortable dining. The service was pleasant and efficient. The food was very good and, overall, reasonable value. The location on the Barbican is special. We will go again.
A. W.
Good food let down by bad service. Very good grilled fish with choice of specials. Food arrived quickly enough once ordered but very long waits for service, no explanation of menu, specials etc. Several items not available (not unexpected for fresh fish place) but not volunteered until we asked. Tables not cleared and no offer of desserts, coffees etc. This could be a fabulous restaurant based on food but the chefs have been badly let down by front of house. Is the location and footfall leading to complacency? Sadly I don't think I will return
A. G.
The food was thoroughly sensational. The service was impeccable.
The grilled John Dory special was perfectly cooked and as fresh as I've ever enjoyed. The halumi salad was exceptional.
The staff we polite and attentive.
I will definitely recommend and will return to try the lobster.
J. M.
Lovely food, good value for money. The waitress was very helpful, i wasn't on a particularly good first date. But I felt I had an alli. She help me make light of the situation I put myself in. So I even stayed for dessert. I would definitely go back again, just not with that person.
K. P.
Whilst visiting Plymouth we actually ate here several times, the vegan fish, chips and curry sauce was delicious, they had several options on their vegan menu, plus vegan ice cream. The staff were absolutely lovely! Great atmosphere with a lovely view :)
C. T.
VERY good fish and chips. Very good mussels. But somehow it lacks the menu you would expect of a good seafood restaurant. No proper seafood platter. No crab option. Lots of classic dishes missing and replaced by lots of stuff that is deep fried. Also has burgers etc on the menu which makes it a bit weird. This could be a phenomenal high class restaurant but it feels like it's a cross between that, a traditional fish and chip shop, and a poor chain restaurant with a confused "family" menu like Giraffe. Clean and nice decor though.
J. C.
Although extremely highly rated my visit didn’t hit the heights expected, cramped tables and not the greatest food. Waiting staff some of the best I’ve been served by.
T. S.
Oh my word this is worth visiting!! I had my heart set on a crab sandwich and I had the best ever. Full of crab meat with bottomless chips and mustard mayo...absolutely delicious. My husband had the cracked crab which was so full and sweet! The staff are genuine and friendly and looking out at the harbour made our visit complete. 😊 Thank you we will be back 👍
H. P.
Amazing vegan fish and chips, and my family all loved their fish! Great atmosphere, beautiful sea view and some of the nicest staff I've ever come across. Couldn't fault it, highly recommend!
C. S.
Popped in for lunch and really enjoyed it.
Excellent value (fish and chips plus a cup of tea for £10!) And the starters are a great option for a light lunch. The whitebait with a side salad was plenty for me and the salads are superb.
Lovely view of Sutton Harbour and great location.
C. M.
Visited with my partner and daughter midweek at lunchtime. Very good lunch deal includes a rather enormous fish and chips, homemade tartare sauce plus a choice of soft drink for £10. There are other options available which include a glass of wine but I didn’t partake as I was driving.
A few children’s options too.
Very friendly staff and a pleasant environment to eat in. The restaurant is dog-friendly which is lovely to see. We had a lovely meal and will visit again soon.
D. M.
My wife and I had a lovely early evening meal. Food was, as we were aware, predominantly fish and it was a delight to eat local produce cooked to an outstanding quality.
I would have given 5-stars if it hadn't been short - staffed. They tried hard and were friendly but we all have just 2-hands.
Loved it
M. V.
We visited the takeaway part of restaurant several times in the past with my daughter and a friend. Staff were very friendly and cheerful, service was great. Outside few tables with chairs if takeaway customers want to take a seat while eating on the harbour side. Great view from there.
J. W.
Crab rolls are super loaded and taste so fresh. Could eat the mushy peas with every meal they were so good.
M. P.
Decent seafood selection, not too expensive, the battered oysters were definitely a crowd pleaser. Okay beer selection. Main meals were standard, tasty but nothing special. Bottomless chips are worth a mention and we're very very tasty. Would happily go back.
B. D.
I went to the Harbour on Friday night. I love shellfish and seafood bit have a serious allergy with crustaceans. The chefs were amazing. I ordered callamari to start and the chef grilled this instead of deep fried to avoid cross contamination. The food was amazing but more importantly I was able to enjoy the whole meal without stressing knowing that the chefs would be super attentive. 5 stars isn't enough. Amazing
C. B.
Nice to have a well thought out vegan option.
B. C.
Outstanding service and inspired food. I cannot speak highly enough from just a single visit. Every aspect of the menu we chose for our two meals and a single shared starter was epic. Clever and beautifully crafted twists on classic menu items perfectly executed. Great location and price. I can not recommend this place enough!
M. L.
Young and green waiting staff add to the charm of this restaurant. Menu seemed a little sparse but everything was spot on. Thank you. X
B. C.
We always get chips to take away from here. They are the best chips around! Service is always fab and quick. You can look into the main kitchen for the restaurant and watch them cook while you wait for your food. We haven't got around to sitting in for food yet but I'm sure it will be amazing if the take away is anything to go by.
S. R.
We came here for dinner and the staff are so professional and welcoming, they take the time to explain the menu to you and all the different types of fish. The food was perfect and everything was so fresh! Best fish and chips I have ever had
K. B.
Visited on a very busy day during the Plymouth Pirate Weekend. The service was great. I had to wait a little longer than normal but that was to be expected. The food was absolutely delicious. I had Cod in a bun which was just delicious, cooked to perfection and served in a brioche roll with salad and tartar sauce. The kids meals were lovely too. Will be back again!
D. K.
Fantastic food, fish and chips if excellent quality and taste. Lovely service and I visited with 2 elderly vulnerable parents and were made to feel very safe. Well done.
J. P.
Great restaurant, food was decent. Service brilliant. Can't go wrong
M. B. (.
Dog friendly with indoor and outdoor seating(indoor will cost extra though).
The best fish and chips for miles.
K. F.
Great choice of fresh fish, cooked to your choice, ideal for anyone counting calories! Staff friendly and accommodating, arrived six adults, two babies with transport on a busy Sunday, all seated and transport parked. Thankyou, recommended.
S. H.
Dog friendly, staff are polite and welcoming.
R. D.
Fab cod, haddock and hake + lovely calamari. Lovely atmosphere and friendly service
M. K.
Really great spot to get great sea food. Had the monk fish and was blown away. Rest of my party where all very happy with the food, other than the fish tacos came in soft flour wraps and not crispy corn shells, but small issue really. Only reason it's not a 5 star is because the service was quite slow and waiters didn't see very attentive for the most part. Didn't affect the food though so would go again.
s. d.
Had takeaway from here whilst on holiday. The food was tasty and all prepared fresh. They were also able to adapt anything on the menu to be gluten free and at no extra cost, a fantastic service. Would definitely eat there again.
M. L.
Lovely fish and chips. So fresh and amazingly presented. Friendly staff and will definitely be going back when we can.
A. D.
Good restaurant, the lobster is a bit pricey and the rest of the food isn't very different from a standard fish and chips shop. However the place is pretty worth the extra cash and the staff is amazing and very welcoming which makes the whole experience fantastic. They also provide excellent suggestions on what to eat.
S. P.
Super quick service ,friendly and welcoming staff, the food was 100% I liked the batter because it was light and crispy I would definitely go again 😊
C. S.
With the excellent reviews we expected a lot better, meals were nice , a bit on the small size, have had just as good at others .
Endless chips but no one came back to our table once we got our meals to ask us if we wanted more and we did as only a small portion in a metal cup is delivered with the meal.
Nice atmosphere and outlook, music a little loud.
A. A.
Brilliant seafood restaurant serving a wide selection of fresh grilled or battered fish alongside seafood tacos, curries and burgers etc. Bottomless chips or salads accompany.
The restaurant is in the old fish market building that has been thoroughly modernised giving great views out over the harbour through floor to ceiling windows.
The portions are generous, everything is beautifully cooked and service is friendly.
We always take friends that visit Plymouth here and they often say it’s the best seafood they’ve ever had.
C. E.
Very tasty fish and chips
S. D.
Lovely clean restaurant, great service. Fish & chips were delicious
D. C.
OMG!!
The food here is absolutely amazing. The pricing is spot on for the quality of dishes available. The decor is bright and airy but sometimes it can get too hot.
The only downside I can mention is that sometimes it feels like, ok I’ve got your order now so I don’t have to keep up the customer service, we waited so long after the meal for the waiting staff to come over and take our dessert order that in the end we didn’t bother and just left.
However that aside you have definitely got to try it!!
R. C.
Went to the takeaway bar rather than the restaurant. Very busy night in the restaurant meant that no scallops in a bun available! Made do with hake bites and fishcakes with chips. Both were excellent especially when accompanied with some chilli jam mayo. Six seats inside if the weather outside is a bit duff.
M. H.
Very good menu. Lovely thin crispy batter on the fish, chips very good too.
A. D.
Very well cooked adult menu.
Kids menu quite limited, but staff happy to let us order half sized adult portions.
Catered well for allergy issues.
Friendly and helpful staff
S. G.
Food great. Wait times and table service poor. Excessive wait times when quite, 3 members of front of house staff stood around and but kitchen staff working hard. Waited to be seated in the all but empty establishment. Was seated. Was hurried to order, waited a awfully long time for the courses and was not asked of any drinks where required during the painful wait times.
T. C.
Such a perfect setting for sitting down to some good food. Standard Fish & Chip affair but with some great choices. Good vegetarian selection for a Fish & Chip restaurant. Really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and loved the water jugs!
C. W.
Very enjoyable - had the late lunch meal. Haddock, chips, homemade tartare sauce, mushy peas with a pint of cider and a pot of tea to follow - £15. Great value. Good menu with variety of fish
T. B.
Nice restaurant and friendly, helpful staff. Lovely clean toilets with sounds of the sea, nice quirky touch. Everyone enjoyed their lobster, nice kids cheeseburger of good size, monkfish a little bit dry, but on the whole an enjoyable evening.
M. W.
Absolutely hands down THE BEST. We're Scottish so we know a good fish supper alright!!! Sat in with The Harbour Special which is huge cod, chips, peas and tartare sauce with a two cup pot of tea for £9 at lunch. Considering the view and outstanding decor I know where i will always come back to. Well done guys. See you soon.
H. S.
Food was really good and didn't wait long considering how busy it was. Only concern was how close the tables were - there was hardly any room between us and the table behind and definitely not two metres.
J. S.
They serve bottomless chips. How great is that? Seriously though some of the nicest fish I've ever eaten. Reasonably priced and delicious. If you're ever in Plymouth and fancy fish and chips. Go here.
P.
Avoided this place at first as it looked a large conveyor belt place but how wrong could we be! Best fish and chips in years - fresh haddock, mixed grilled fish, great beers and the most nicest and attentive servers we’ve met in a long time. Definitely walk through that door.
T. S.
All in all a good experience, the food was great and the place itself looks amazing. Sadly this was let down by front of house staff. They didn't seem to want to serve our table but they took our order very quickly. The menu says unlimited chips but this is impossible when the staff aren't available. Would have been a 5 star review but was severely let down by table staff. Would come back assuming the front of house staff were a little more attentive.
J. R.
As a family of 4 with two older children it was great.
It was a freezing day and we were all ready to have lunch. I could smell lovely smells coming from the restaurant as we walked along the front, and past it on the way to Smeaton's tower on the Hoe.
The staff were lovely.
It was warm inside, with the lovely costal seaside decor that reminds me so much of where I grew up.
I love fish, but I am very picky about where I buy and eat it.
Lovely lovely fresh fish.
I mean that the fish was that days catch, delivered that morning. You can really tell, I used to live by the sea and cook mackerel within 10 minutes of catching it.
I mean really fresh fish, cooked perfectly and in a simple fashion that lets the flavours and textures of the fish shine, which can be hard to do.
Not just the usual fish and chips.
Georgous mussles, so good my older daughter kept pinching them from my bowl.
Lots of choice for those who don't eat seafood too. There were meat dishes too.
I was intrigued by the vegan and vegetarian versions of some fish dishes were.
You can taste, the reason why this restaurant got its good food award.
We are coming back for seconds next time we are in Plymouth.
It's a shame that we live fo far away as we would be regular visitors.
L. W.
Hunted high and low for a fish restaurant at first, and pleased I found this one, right on harbour with great view onto water. I arrived after 2pm and still very busy today. GREAT choice of many types of fish. Available today was mackerel, bream, bass, red gurnard, which I had and very good choice, 6 little fillets, tartar sauce a-maz-ing, turbot (£20) plaice and John Dory. Service prompt even though busy. It is a family restaurant so kids allowed but fortunately the 2 next to me and young were well behaved. This restaurant has won the National Fish & Chips award 2019. High ceiling so not a fishy smelling restaurant 👍 well satisfying
M. N.
Great fish and chips.... both dine in and take away!
R. b.
Best fish and chips we have had in a very long time. Staff are friendly and polite
B. S.
Food was stunning, service was impeccable would 100% recommend trying especially if you are a seafood lover!
M. A.
Good food, staff took their time explaining our options & made good recommendations. Comfortable, warm and professional. We were sat by a door towards the pier & still didn't feel cold even though the door opened a few times. Highly recommended.
S. H.
On a recent family trip from London, to Edinburgh, to Dublin and then Cornwall-to-Brighton...we found the best fish and chips at The Harbour restaurant in Plymouth. Great food, and our server, Megan, was a delight.
R. F.
Food was hot and tasty. Tartare sauce is excellent. Very clean with good views
O. D.
The setting here is lovely on the harbourside and the fish doesn't disappoint. Battered fish and chips is the heart of the menu with regulars like cod and haddock alongside catch of the day.
They also have fresh lobster in tanks ready to be picked.
They have really nice grilled fish as well as battered, or if you're going all out, the chips are bottomless.
Soft drinks are a little pricy, but overall it is good value.
L. S.
Really nice chips, very affordable
C.
Lovely food, friendly atmosphere, beautiful location. Was so fantastic to see a vegetarian/vegan option for fish and chips. Was very very impressed!
A. S.
My husband and I were looking for a quiet seafood dinner on our last night in the area; our BnB hostess found this restaurant on the internet for us. We had a very good, fresh meal, the menu offered lots of seafood variety, and the servers were quite congenial without being faux chummy. But the ambiance was definitely more cafeteria than quiet; our failure had been in not more clearly articulating our desire.
This restaurant would be especially good for a large group outing or with younger kids.
Also, the surrounding Elizabethan harbour & neighborhood were well worth a stroll. As Americans we were delighted to stumble across the departure point for both the Mayflower and a supply ship on a (sadly) doomed journey to Jamestown.
j. m.
"The best fish and chips EVER!"
Said my friend Bhoogie best burger ever said my little girl 4, my Mexican burger was pretty good too.
Friendly service. Book if you can.
There's many good fish 'n' chip places around so why this so popular?
See you there 😋
t. h.
Had a lovely lunch here whilst visiting Plymouth gor the day. Nice setting, food and great service
M. C.
The best vegan fish and chips I ever tried delicious 😋 we highly recommend it to all my friends
Vegan or non vegan
R. S.
Very good food but finger bowls to wash your hands after the muscles etc are definitely needed
S. C.
Clean. Very friendly. We had the lunchtime special of cod, chips, mushy peas and a drink for £11 and it didn't disappoint. Would definitely recommend and revisit should we be in Plymouth again.
p. b.
Disappointing, the cod was undercooked and had to be replaced. The chips were scrappy and full of eyes. I expected better from such a highly rated establishment .In their favour they gave a 10% discount but I would have preferred a better meal.
N. S.
This place is fab. First visit. My little one is gluten and wheat free and they can do nearly everything. So nice for her to have a choice. Update 040820 Have been informed they have changed supplier so SAUSAGES are no longer gluten free. Won't be going back so much now.
M.
We had a good lunch 😋 together.
L. P.
Had a takeaway and the food was brilliant. I had the crab roll with chips which I'd never seen before in a fish and chip restaurant, it had heaps of fresh crab meat in a brioche bun with salad, cucumber and sauce with perfect chips for just a tenner, my girlfriend had rhe whitebait and that was lovely too. Lovely place to eat on the tables next to the harbour at twighlight too.
J. B.
Very good food, staff helpful as well. Not too busy when we there, weather might have had something to do with that.
D.
I ate the best fish in town here
M. F.
Really nice restaurant with a great and fresh seafood
G. W.
My family have eaten here several times now and have been very impressed with the quality of the food (mainly fish) always tastes fresh and arrives well prepared...it isn't your standard fish restaurant. Service is impeccable and the staff are always happy to help.
F. F.
Absolutely amazing fish and chips. The staff was super friendly and thorough in explaining the menu and what would be the best options for us. Very cute goody bags for the kids. Would highly recommend this place!!!!
G. H.
Beautifully cooked fish,so fresh you can actually see the catch being off-loaded from your table, amazing place and food
J. S.
Food was epic, and the staff were entertaining beyond belief!
r. a.
Stopped by today to have a coffee as the view is great but they only serve INSTANT coffee so we left. 3 stars for the view but I think that any respectable restaurant should have a coffee machine if they wanna get 5 stars feedback.
K. L.
What a great place & the meal was lovely. Micky & the waiting staff were brilliant & very attentive, nothing was too much trouble even though it was extremely busy Friday evening. The sun was shining in Plymouth & with the glass doors open wow what a fantastic setting. Definitely worth a try!
A. W.
Staff were very nice.
Food was quick and delicious.
Good price for great quality food.
Definitely recommend mussels and sea bass.
I. G.
Although i dont like fish i tried the hake bites and it didnt change my mind but the batter was good. Burgers are delicious and the chps are lovely! Curry sauce is probably the best ive had from a chippy.
H. R.
Persistently good Food. Definitely my go to place to eat in the Barbican. I haven't once found a bad dish in this restaurant either eating in or getting a takeaway the food is always top quality. Chilli jam is a must to try here along with the tartar sauce which always taste freshly made.
W. H.
Food was lovely, but sadly it was my mum's birthday we were sat in a corner of the restaurant and I feel we were kind of neglected most of the evening almost forgotten about at times.
We had to ask for our plates after a long wait to be removed and we also had to ask for desert
I admit staff were very busy.
We then asked for the Bill as our car park was running out and still a neglect of urgency.
We are local and we viistt many times throughout the year, so was very disappointed in the service this evening

Good food & generous portions. Fast & efficient service, even though a very busy Sunday. Some different choices - even lobster on the menu! Medium range prices. Seaside views. Fab.

Huge portions, good quality of fish but maybe defrosted at the moment I think, due to the water still in the plate when been served. The waitress made sure everything was ok, lovely person, but ordered a grilled fish misto and delivered a steamed fish...not cooked enough on the grill/oven the skin did not even have sign of a coal cooker, a corner of the fillet was still stuck like just taken out of the bag..im a bit disappointed.. it was a good and relaxing dinner tho.

£16 for a bowl of mussels, £5 for a alcohol free beer and £4.75 for what tasted like watered down wine was totally overpriced. Mussels were excellent as was service, but the feeling of having been ripped off left a bitter taste in our mouths. As locals we will not be returning.

Clean and modern surrounds in the restaurant. We shared a scallop and prawn starter and fried haddock. Lots of garlic butter in the generous 3 king scallops and 3 prawns. The fried haddock had a lovely light tempura batter and was cooked perfectly.

Has to be the best seafood restaurant and take away on the Barbican or may be even Plymouth (if you know better tell me) I love how it feels like you are sitting outdoors, I have visited several evenings with my friends for fish dish and bubbly. We all came out happy. Staff are all individuals and don't have "I am here for you master attitude" they are lovely and chatty making me feel at ease.

Friendly staff, quick service, interesting decor and the best cod and chips I've eaten in a very long time
J. D.
Really great fish and chips. Lovely girl behind the til who gave me a very honest answer when I enquired about the 'vegan' fish and chips. I thought it might just be chips. Ha. Ha. Anyway, great location, not horrendously overpriced and pretty tasty. Can't complain.

Loved it. Beautiful view of the Marina. Fresh fish, double fried chips, great all around
m. d.
Quite simply the best fish and chips I have had, and Corona on tap
D.
Good food, good service.
Don't like seeing off duty staff sat at the bar....

Good place for nice simple food

What a fabulously, delicious 'plaice' to bring your 'other halves' for their birthday meals.
Micky - our Maitre d .. was particular funny and most welcoming when we arrived !! We didn't have a big wait after the, easy order for food .. and .. wow!! Very tasty food ... MOST impressed !!
I. C.
Quality food and friendly staff. Even though we were 9 they've arranged for two tables for us durind these times. Really nice looking over the harbour
H. S.
Visited the takeaway side with two friends, had the cod and Chips which was good and my friends had the Vegetarian fish and chips which they rated Ok. nice location with harbour view good prices and actually like that it's just out if the noise from the Barbican so you can have a nice calm meal

I'm not a lover of seafood! Went there with the family to celebrate a 30th birthday. Had steak but everyone else had fish of different types and they all loved it. Service was excellent and couldn't do enough for us.

What a lovely eatery, best fish restaurant all the way to st ives, dont both with rockfish ,this place is far more quirky in everyway, exceptional menu, with great cooking options ,a great choice of local fish and local beer, a lovely family friendly atmosphere, the owner couldnt have gone out of his way anymore to accommodate myself ,wife and 2 kids, highly recommend this place, thanks the allen family.

Great service and fantastic food

The lady that served us was lovely and we got served even if we didn’t book on the Firework Championship day!
Definitely recommend if you’re a fan of cheese. Veg and vegan friendly as well.
G. A.
Good place to have a nice diner with friends. We were a group of 8 , so they just gathered a few tabels for us. The food was delicious. We ate fishesh and sea food.
L. H.
Fish and chips are to die for, amazing and the curry sauce thick and fruity. Good portion size too
j. s.
Fantastic seafood restaurant. Thoroughly enjoyed the meals there, especially the fish tacos!
I. B.
Secound vist to this restaurant seafood was amazing presentation freshness top marks would recommend this restaurant to anyone great experience will be back
R. S.
Very nice and surprisingly not as expensive as other places on the barbican. They use hight quality ingredients and it shows. Sit in or take away is all cooked to the same standard. Only draw back is they only sold cup drinks from a dispenser and not bottles of well known brands.
J. R.
Had fish and chips today, was awesome. Waiters and waitresses were kind, friendly and efficient. Well done The Harbour, keep up the standard.
Z. M.
Great fish and endless chips!! Friendly staff too!! Lots of delicious looking food, and good choice for all. Will return!!
D. S.
This is basically a glorified chip shop with a restaurant. But the food is excellent. Not a place for a romantic meal but great for the family or if you just just love sea food. We also ate at Rockfish across the marina, and where as Rockfish was good, this place was better. Highly recommended
G. I.
Excellent Fish and Chip restaurant we have eaten here a few times and always the same 5*service and food. Highly recommended.
M. H.
Excellent meal, great service. Lovely ambience. Great value.

Fantastic food and service. Managed to squeeze us in without a booking.

We were a walk in with no reservation they helped us get a table within a few moments. The service was excellent the lady who served us was very informative about the menu and choices etc. Some of us asked for specifics with the order and everything came fresh, piping hot, very tasty and everything was correct.
Can’t fault this place ! Will deffo return on our next trip down here.
S. G.
Fabulous meal with family. Best fish and chips we have eaten for a very long time. The monkfish curry was really delicious too. Would whole heartedly recommend this restaurant
M. B.
I wanted crab but they had none. I got langoustines instead but were chopped up and breadcrumbed. They were delicious. However, it would have been a lot better if I had been given 5/6 whole langoustines - like it's done in France etc. It seemed essentially like glorified and expensive fish and chips, rather than a nice seafood dish. No green on my plate, very beige. You have to pay extra for salad. Not fantastic for the price. Would have gone for the tacos if I had another chance. Simply because vegetables.

What a lovely place to eat ur favourite fish and chips! outstanding Quality of fish which is caught locally!chips are done to profection plenty of salt and vinegar!staff are also helpful!seating a little hard.nt much leg room apart from that what a lovely place.

Fairly regular but not frequent customers at The Harbour. Good service, good choices on the menu. The team is very knowledgeable about their product and drinks. Never a bad experience to date.

Was in Plymouth for 1 night. After walking around the harbour we felt like having a meal - the wife liked the look of the place and so we went in. It was a quiet evening, few quests, the service by the waitress was excellent, swift, polite and attentive, the seafood meal was lovely, great beer and very reasonable prices, highly recommend the place if you fancy seafood

We had a lovely sea food meal at the Harbour. That was marvellous and the atmosphere of the Harbour was so exciting, nice and cool.
