Reviews of The Morley Bar & Eatery

Nice modern meets traditional decor inside. Friendly and helpful staff. Tasty Sunday Roast, well presented and good portion size. Prices are good for the quality. Outside, there is plenty of seating with views of the water. There's an outdoor bar with music playing, but not intrusive. An ideal venue for families, friends or get togethers.

Visited here as a wedding guest, a party taking place in the marquee. Buffet food of 'chunky' sandwiches, pasties and chicken etc. was really well done. The right amount of staff behind the bar for good, speedy service too.
D. L.
Nice vibe, friendly staff, but........ They haven't had proper ale for weeks!!!!!
Doesn't quite meet the expectations of your typical pub in the South West.
Good Sunday lunches though.

Spacious pub conveniently located on the A379. The pub retains a cosy modern decor and boasts an excellent menu. It's not the cheapest pub but I've never left disappointed. The dishes are all well presented and tasty. The external Riverside gardens are a lovely addition and if weather permits I highly recommend sitting out there. They have a Rum shack and a Gin house to the rear which really are a delight. The venue very much lends itself to big events such as weddings etc. Toilet facilities are decent. The staff have always been attentive and friendly every time I have visited. Disabled access is pretty good, particularly to the outside areas. The main entrance might be abit trickier without support but their is a more friendly side entrance that may be easier. There is parking for approx. 18 vehicles.

Just been for Sunday lunch, it was excellent. Reduced menu for Sunday but no complaints. Price of meals are reasonable. Quick service and staff very polite. The revamp has done the Morley Arms proud. Nice and modern from what it used to be. The beer garden adds to the attraction especially come the summer months. A bonus is the hospitality tent if you want to have a private function. Rest rooms available and parking is free.

Clean spacious, warm welcome, polite and courteous staff, delicious Sunday roast , will definitely return

Had a fantastic day here. Kids were able to play with other children in the amazing beer/gin garden. The best selection of gin I have ever seen!!!! Food was wonderful had lunch and dinner on the same day, staff were so helpful and made the day!!!
N. P.
Amazing bar and excellent food. With a beautiful beer garden to enjoy it all from, highly recommend

Great friendly atmosphere. Everything cooked to perfection. I have never enjoyed eating in a pub so much. Classic meals with a twist and very reasonable prices.
My wife and myself will definitely be returning.

Went there during a hot sunny day, it was not overally busy, ample outdoor seating, I was served by a gorgeous woman with long hair and tattoos, she was very pleasant to talk with and ensured that I was taken care of without being over bearing. The food was delicious, I had a medium rare sirloin with onion rings, I would definitely go back there again, be aware as the food appears to be all prepared and made on site there could be a 30 min wait. This is fine as the quality is good. I would recommend this place. And will definitely be visiting again.
M. P. S.
Relaxing place with multiple vibes, fantastic team here and always friendly and loving.
Perfect.

Great food, tasty, didn't take long to come. Good service.

Pretty good place to eat food was good but nothing exceptional fairly expensive although the menu wasn't great the descriptions of the food weren't very accurate.

My first time at the Morley since it's been refurbished and changed it's style and what a fabulous lunch we had there. We were seated by a lovely young woman who showed us to our table and given menus and offered drinks. The menu is varied and very well priced. My friend went for steak and chips and myself and the other member of our party went for the fish and chips. The fish was delicious and crispy with sides of mushy peas, curry sauce, tartare sauce and pickled onions as well as eonderful crispy chips! All home made my the looks of it. We couldn't resist having something from the sweet menu. I went for the coconut pannecota with mango sorbet and we also had a special Morley Black Forest brownie with cherries, kirsch chantilly cream. They were both incredible!!! The service from the lovely, friendly and accommodating young man that served us was excellent. All in all a very pleasant experience in a covid safe eatery. We will certainly be back.

Lovely Sunday lunch , staff are extremely friendly and welcoming will visit again when back in Plymouth .

I have eaten here on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed. This week I had lunch in their garden with a friend, it was a lovely atmosphere and the food was lush! Highly recommend.
J. F.
We booked for Sun lunch. It was so well organised, we were met at the door by a lovely waiter, who took us to our table. We both had the Sunday roast, which was really good. We shared a cauliflower cheese, but honestly it was so much food, that we couldn't finish it!. Hence, no room for pudding. We'll definitely be back. Well done to the team at the Morley:)

Meal and a couple of pints last night. Food delicious and a fabulous choice on the menu all cooked and served perfectly. Really lovely to see such meat free options. We are both meat eaters but went meat free last night....absolutely delicious. The staff were fabulous and although obviously hot behind their masks were attentive, polite and perfectly balanced between proffesional and friendly 5* from us 😊
A. H.
Very good. Newly refurbished and is now modern and clean. Lovely service and most impressed when asked my mother if she would like a smaller meal. The garden which had been neglected is now clean and plenty of seating. There is also a gin marquee with sofas and settees with music of a weekend. We are looking forward to visiting again of a summer evening
A. D. (.
its nice for beer garden, the meniu lacks diversity, but its nice for the location
J. N.
One of the most relaxing meals I have had in a long time. My main meal and pudding was the veggie/vegan options, both of which far surpassed my expectations. Served within a timely manner and was paced full of flavour; quality of produce used was of a high quality. The waiting staff were well mannered and allowed us plenty of time to decide on our meals, and were accommodating to individual needs. Will most definitely recommend.
N. K.
Stopped here Saturday afternoon midway through a bike ride for some lunch! Staff attentive, polite and the food was superb. Was that superb we booked Sunday for a family lunch. Again amazing food, could not fault anything. All staff a credit to the establishment. Will definately b back! 😁👍
W. D.
Nice to sit out back in the sun. A little pricey, but lunch from the kids menu was perfect. Went there for lunch on a Tuesday with my family. Could be better if the menu's were given a wipe down from last nights dinner before being handed out to the customers. Apart from that, a lovely pub with a good selection of beers.
A. L.
My first visit since new management took over. I'm thoroughly impressed. I went for a meal and found the staff to be welcoming and friendly. It seems that word has got around and the place was busy. Booking a table is essential for an evening meal. It was tiny bit more expensive than I was expecting, but worth it. They have a fixed menu with a daily specials list. The chef was very helpful in providing a meal for one of our party with allergies. I shall be coming here again.
M. S.
After spending over 3 weeks at home alone, a good cooked breakfast (that i didn't have to cook myself) was a great treat. The Full English breakfast you delivered was very good and surpassed my expectations, a massive thank you to you all, I really look forward to ordering with you again, and coming to visit you when we are passed these trying times, you are doing a fantastic thing for the community, my very best wishes to you all
j. r.
Really nice looking place. The starters were really nice, we had the duck spring rolls, goat cheese moose (this could of done with a bread or something else than just the salad.) And Camembert. Mains meat platter which was very nice although the plum sauce would of been a god addition to the two duck spring rolls, sea food platter, gammon (this was a little dry could do with some chutney or apple sauce) and the lamb which looked really nice. Overall the food and service was average
P. E.
Newly refurbished pub with a lovely log fire. Excellent service, delicious food at reasonable prices (chef worked at the Treby Arms). Will definitely go again.
Update: enjoyed an excellent (though not cheap) Sunday lunch, listening to a saxophone player throughout the afternoon. This seems to be the place in Plymouth for the glamorous 20s and 30s to spend a Sunday. Service was highly skilled and enjoyable. Parking and access is good. A well managed venue with more to it than is seen from the outside.
P. G.
A great pub with a good menu. Food is good and service excellent. Good parking and plenty of room outside with tables and chairs. Would thoroughly recommend 👌
s. e.
Friendly and welcoming pub, great atmosphere and dog friendly, had a lovely afternoon, staff couldn't be any more considerate. (Brought a bowl of water out for the dog without asking!)
Will be there next weekend
Thanks!
B. M.
Delicious Sunday roast washed down with a nice IPA. Portions are large but still good quality.
G. C.
Was impressed with this place on my first recent visit. The beer garden is more for the younger generation but the restaurant is nice and separated. Food was good and staff friendly and helpful enough...would visit again
C. L.
The sea food platter was very good but too much of it. The décor of the interior has lost its character being very sterile looking in grey. No longer a traditional pub with food but an eating house with drinks. Had been going to the Old Morley Arms for years and loved the character of it Which is now missing. Staff gave very good service and were very attentive. Nothing was too much trouble.
Need to make sure the prices are correct on the menu. The price for my sea food platter was wrong.
Emaculate ladies toilets.
E. O. A.
I absolutely loved my visit the staff were very friendly and welcoming, not only that but the ambiance was great, I will recommend this establishment to anyone who is looking for a great place to eat, drink & relax by the riverside, with nice outside seating areas
P. B.
It's a good pub food is good, but don't go there if you want a quiet drink they play the music incessantly and at very high volumes throughout the day it puts a lot of people off going.
R. S.
Had a lovely meal here for my sisters birthday, we were a party of 15 and every single one of us enjoyed our food. The service was very good and our waitress was brilliant with the kids. Will definitely return 😊
j. m.
Enjoyed our meal here very much and even though it was busy and we hadn't booked, we were made to feel welcome. Well worth a visit and will go again. Could do with sorting the music out as when sat close to the speaker, it was a tad intrusive.
A. C.
What can I say except excellent.
This is the second time since the summer I've taken my mum for a Sunday Roast.
Really wholesome food.
Very polite and helpful Staff.
With quite often music in the afternoons during the summer. It's good to keep this place open after attending my best friends wedding in the late 90's.
Keep it up.
Especially with Staropraman on draught. 👍👍

First time visit after being recommend by so many people. My hubby and I really loved the atmosphere staff were friendly and the place was spotless.
Unfortunately it was raining on our visit so didn't get to enjoy the outside area but there is always next time. Will definitely come back soon. 10/10
L. A.
It might be warm in the pub but we went there after a Christening and ended up in a Marquee which was very cold, they only put the heating on for limited time, hence only 3 stars.
S. O.
Popped in for Sunday lunch and had the trio of meat Sunday roast. It was excellent!
K. S.
Went for a big breakfast and was not disappointed! Everything was cooked nicely and staff were very friendly. Has been updated by new owner since I last visited to a stylish and modern looking place, would definitely recommend!

Mother's Day at the Morley. This has been refurbished since my last visit and has a clean modern feeling whilst being able to maintain a traditional feeling. I had the roast from the mother's Day menu for £13. The roast was delightful. The swede was creamy and peppery, the potatoes crisp on the outside and fluffy in the middle. A fair portion of meet and superb large Yorkshire pudding. The meal also had cabbage, baby carrots and an ample jug of gravy. For desert I shared lemon tart, and warm chocolate brownie. Both were delicious. The garden has a much nicer feel. The fencing to the water front is now glass and has been extensively tidied. There is a marquee in the garden as well as tables and chairs. The marquee had a fun bar and live music. The music was loud and it had quite a different feel to the main pub/restaurant. I very much enjoyed the meal. On a warm sunny day you could easily spend hours here relaxing. The slight downside was some of the tables that were pushed together included small round tables that didn't have much room to eat but this was the exception rather than the rule. And some of the tables were a bit close. That said they were trying to ensure that everyone was enjoying their meal. Would happily return to eat and drink again. The car parking had been increased and if you've not tried it give it a go.
C. B.
What a great pub... passed this place loads of times.. today I popped in.. Brilliant.. great staff.. lovely grub.. fair prices.. cant wait for summer as the beer garden and Gin Bar looks amazing... 🙂🙂🙂

The Morley Arms Pantry Service has been wonderful during these difficult times. Great products, efficient delivery. Thank you so much for everything you are doing for the local community at the moment. Can’t wait to come back and eat and drink with you properly mind!
L. L.
Ordered lamb croquettes salmon tacos and morley burger.. the best food I think I might ever of had all hot and fresh. Burger a little to greasy but still great flavour.
G. C.
Nice atmosphere, didn't eat but the food looked great, staff were lovely and drinks were reasonable...until we ordered a Vodka Lime and Lemonade and they charged us £12 for it!! Happy to pay more for a good venue but don't like being taken the piss out of!
D. C.
Had evening dinner for 2, the decor in the Morley has really freshened the place up, friendly staff, local beers on tap and we were suprised at the quality of the food and the way it was presented, prices were about right aswell we thought.
All together a really good meal out and we will be returning.
S. W.
Fabulous food at the Morley Bar and Eatery tonight for Ebony's 18th birthday meal.
Very polite and efficient staff too.
Social distancing in place and very clean.
Highly recommended the Morley.
t. j.
Breakfast at the Morley Arms with my love ones. Bye the river in the garden, music playing and the sun beating down on us.what more could you ask for just an absolutely fantastic experience with a fabulous view of the river and boats and staff so polite and helpful, even the manager made the effort to show us the possible menu and seating indoors or outdoors. Thanks Morley we will be back.
M. P.
Food was fine. Burger a little too burned but big enough to cut those bits off. Drinks took a long time and were forgotten. Maybe just the staffing in the night. Nice atmosphere.
A. N.
Really good meal last night from their new meal. Friendly atmosphere and good service apart from having someone else's drinks on our bill!! This was very quickly rectified though. Will definitely return.
R. H. (.
I like how it's been done up, I thought the food was nice, and drinks selection was wide but I'm not sure the prices are comparable, for example the steak was probably more expensive than miller and carter and the steak in miller in carter is nicer - in my personal opinion. 2 double GnT were £19 for the first round and £17 the second time which I found confusing and more expensive than rust n royal on the Barbican which I feel as a bar has a more premium feel than the Morley. I like the venue, and the the refurbishment. I'm just not sure the prices for location are quite fit. The service in the restaurant was laid back, I mean really laid back, very friendly and smiley, but not very attentive. We'd gone for a pre-band dinner and missed the whole of the first half, and didn't realise we could have had dinner out by the band until after.
C. W.
We visited to celebrate our mum's birthday. The staff were really friendly and brought mum out a cake to celebrate which was a nice gesture. First time visiting since it was refurbished and would make a return visit. Thank you.
D. W.
Excellent food friendly staff
s. f.
An improvement over the old place. Food is excellent. This is a light bite?
T. -. E.
It is the first time I have come here and it is BRILLIANT! Every weekend for the whole weekend they have live music playing in the gin tent. The garden overlooks a really nice and calm river that flows right next the garden. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They allow children to play around outside as well, when I was here there was some kids playing with a football next to the gin tent. The food is beyond amazing and the service is really good too. I had the gammon roast and OMG it was soo nice. I also had the warm chocolate brownie, I wasn't too sweet or hevy it was like the perfect brownie, they served it with light and fluffy vanilla ice cream. They have a conservatory dinning area and thier own car park next to it. They allow dogs on the lead to come into the restaurant and go outside. The atmosphere in the main dinning area was very warm and cosy and comfortable, which was created moastly by the staff and the colours. Would definitely come back and Definitely recommend.

Wow what a surprise the Morley Arms has it all great location easy to get to a great menu and very friendly staff. Me and hubby shared the meat platter and had cheesy chips, all very nice, we shall be back but next time we shall get the bus and make an afternoon of it as they have a very attractive gin bar.
B.
One of the best pubs in Plymouth, gets super busy because of this. During lockdown I've had the takeaway menu and everything has been great.
M. C.
Great friendly service, didn't go into main bar area as was at family meeting outside. Thought everything was well planned etc, would go back, definitely. Thanks
C. M.
Managed to get a night off and book a table here. Service was very good and food was excellent. Would recommend.
A. V.
Staff were friendly and polite, although previous reviews remark on lack of meal options, I like that, makes it easier to choose. Food was cooked well and arrived quite quickly, overall a good meal experience would go again
A. M.
The renovated Morley Arms was a good experience, with friendly and attentive staff. We enjoyed our meals very much, but would have liked to see more vegetarian and salad options.
A.
Lovely refurbishment, warm welcome from the staff. Ale was in superb condition. Did not eat but the tables were full of diners and the food looked plentiful.
D. S.
Sat in the pub as i write this review... Very nice staff and drinks, not eaten here but the food is smelling good. The pub itself looks good and reminds me of some of the old ones i grew up around in cornwall. Overall a very nice pub and would recommend it to anyone.
K. E.
I rang up and was advised to book a table for 7 of us at lunch time which I did. When we arrived on the day there was no booking they said, but they managed to fit us in! We found the waitress was quite pushy and the menu had little choice. The food was average and quite expensive, all in all very disappointing.
I. I.
The food was fantastic! Staff attentive, great place, great atmosphere.
C. U.
Very enjoyable Sunday lunch. Food, service atmosphere all faultless. Maybe nice to have a mint chocolate or petit four with coffee but it certainly didn't spoil our enjoyment.
T. C.
Had a really nice dinner in mid December 2018. The beef cheek was excellent. The place is pretty chilled out but does very good food.
M. T.
Visited the Morley Arms for the first time since its major refurbishment and had a fantastic evening. The place looks great and the food was excellent. The staff were very nice and the place had a relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended!
C. D.
Amazing food and great service. Very friendly staff. Deserts bit on pricey side for sorbet but others rest of party though pricey was worth it due to large portion. Would go again.
A. G.
Fantastic food and simple but effective decor. Dont let the location put you off. Car parking is tight.
m. t.
Everytime we come we enjoy a lovely drink next to the river. Staff are super nice and everything is clean and tidy.

Lovely place, great selection of gins, lovely food, but don't bother with the onion rings, greasy tasting, but all other food we had was delicious!
N. W.
Lovely space inside and out. Clean, fresh, appealing. Would highly recommend
T. V.
Lovely food, not a big variety on the menu. Dog friendly but not what I'm after. A little expensive to visit regularly
D. B.
Great atmosphere, fantastic service & amazing food. We will definitely be back
M.
Disappointing after the hype I had seen. Not everything is fresh, too exactly cut. Expensive for what we were served and for December, would of expected ' Soul Food' choices
M. G.
Food was decent if slightly overpriced. A beautiful beer garden with an amazing Gin menu.
A. W.
The food was amazing .... We had the roast and it was the best meal I have had in a restaurant in a long time . Brilliant service and nice friendly staff .

Service very good, however the choice of potatoes other than chips, not available, jacket mash or boiled in my opinion would have been received as a professional service.

C. S.
Very good decor, pleasant serving staff and good choice of well prepared brunch.
