A very nice restaurant on Mutley Plain. Staff were very welcoming and we were seated straight away. People mention the "constant" delivery drivers, but there was only one that came during our hour that we spent there. The food was very nice, chicken was moist, beef crispy and everything else was very good too. Although, the reason it's 4 stars not 5, it is pricey with a sharing starter, 2 dishes, 1 rice and a few drinks being over 50 pounds. Overall, would visit again and we enjoyed it.

I love that place. We dine here often and were never disappointed. My favourite dishes are the crispy aromatic duck and prawns with chilly and asparagus. It feels like an authentic Chinese restaurant. It’s an absolute must - go.

Best Chinese restaurant at Plymouth! I ordered seafood tofu soup and tantan noodles, the portion is large and the taste is rich. Most importantly the price is very reasonable, definitely gonna visit here again!!

I can honestly say this is the BEST Chinese takeaway we have ever had (and we have had many, many different ones). We have ordered food from here several times now and it has been absolutely fantastic each time. The taste and quality of the food is brilliant, especially the meat, all absolutely delicious. They have a great choice on the menu, we have tried several things and everything has tasted really great! I can’t remember if we took a picture of ours, we usually dive in too quickly! Definitely worth more than 5 stars! :)

Solid Chinese takeaway, only ever ordered as a delivery so cannot speak for the restaurant side of things but the food from here has always been of good quality even if it was a little pricey.

I ordered my food 30 minutes ago and its arrived in good time, about 5 minutes before i write this review, its hot, cooked perfectly and tastes delicious. The guy who took my order on the phone was polite and lovely and even the delivery driver was smiling and polite at the door. The pan fried pork dumplings are the best i have had and the egg fried rice is perfect. I will be going here again all the time now.

Ate in tonight for first since the pandemic, it was fairly quiet with very few tables occupied. The 2 servers were very friendly and efficient and the food was plentiful and very tasty, the price extremely reasonable we were shocked at the bill it just didn’t seem enough and we’ve paid more for takeaways elsewhere! We left a good tip to show our thanks and they were very appreciative. The only reason for drop of 1 star is as others have mentioned there’s a constant flow of delivery drivers from all online franchises (Deliveroo, ubereats etc) we were sat to the side so didn’t impact our eating experience but some were quite loud and swearing in their vocabulary, so would not make for a romantic meal out, personally we can deal with this but others would not. As business owners ourselves totally understand the need to utilise all financial opportunities especially since Covid, i.e the takeaway side, our constructive feedback would be maybe shield this off in some way using the partitions possibly by creating a corridor along one wall.

I ordered Salt and Pepper Chicken, Special Chicken Curry, Egg Fried Rice, Chicken Chowmein and Garlic King Prawns. EVERYTHING was very delicious and was really up to my liking. One of the best Chinese food in Plymouth. Their Chicken is Halal but none of the meat/Lamb dishes are Halal.

The food was quite dissatisfying. For £11.50 there was barely any meat on the duck. Instead, there was plenty of burnt skin and bone. Secondly, the beef was quite fatty. The rest of the meal was okay but for the price it was quite disappointing. I would have been happy to eat that if it cost me £10 not £30.

Excellent Chinese food, the best we have had in a long time and very reasonable. They do a 3 course meal for £13.80, I think, until June, excellent value and brilliant choice, the best crispy chilli beef I've ever had. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Give it a try.

Good place for "yum cha", popular amongst the Chinese community. The menu is clear with pictures of the food, and the service was good, have to wait at the reception to get a seat since the reception wasn't staffed at all times. When it first opened the food wasn't so good, but since it's the only dim sum place in the area, decided to try them again and undeniably the quality had gone up. I would recommend this place.

All dimsums are very tasty. They are very reasonably priced. I loved their steamed rice wrapped in lotus leaf. Also the jasmine tea in a pot was nice and warm. I will surely come back again.

Recently discovered, The Red Lantern is the best authentic Chinese Restaurant that we know. Amazing food, friendly service and very reasonably priced. The chef is obviously VERY talented and the owner is often on hand for advice on food choices and a friendly chat. Nothing is too much trouble. From start to finish it is fantastic here. Free prawn crackers and delicious dips for you while you peruse the menus. One set menu at a fair price of just under £14. The dishes are brought out in a manner set for sharing with the table. Chopsticks and cutlery both available and a great selection of lagers. I suggeat lucky buddha. And afterwards they provide you with a basket of sweets to treat yourself too. 100% recommended and i will be returning.

Excellent service and very helpful staff. They have a great lunch time menu, which is easy to understand and a very helpful picture guide, showing what you will get. We ordered a starter and main course, which arrived very quickly and piping hot, fresh and very tasty. We didn't book in advance, but just turned up for lunch. Plenty of tables and very spacious. You know it's a great restaurant, when local Chinese eat here. We certainly will revisit "The Red Lantern" again, this restaurant I would rate higher than it 5 star rating. Very well done.

I am a Hong-Konger. Everyone knows that Hong Kong is a famous ‘food paradise’. I can say the ‘dim sum’ and food here are excellent and always keeping at a high standard. Chefs are from Guangzhou, a city in China, famous for traditional dim sum and Chinese food. This is the best Chinese restaurant in Plymouth.

It's a great restaurant, but trying to park a car is terrible, the car parking is limited when filled with cars. It's difficult to find a parking space since the restaurant is on the main road which the drivers won't be able to use because it's double yellow line.

I live near North Hill and a fraction more expensive that average an chinese takeaway but omg is it worth it. Perfectly cooked and seasoned foods with zero starch egg fried rice 👌 Try Red Lantern guys, this place truly is worth it!!!
