Reviews of 805 Restaurants

Every time I come here the customer service and the food is always exceptional! I would recommend for a date night as the decor is so cute, it’s a mix of traditional African art with a modern architectural twist that just sets it apart from your typical African restaurant.

The best and only 9ja restaurant in Reading ...lovely GAAF 2021 Christmas meal, delicious & sumptuous. Update...their assorted meat peppersoup was disappointing. No kick to it all....on a cold and wet day.....

Dont be fooled by the looks of it. This place is very nice. Heard about it from a friend who Really likes the food. Decor is beautiful. Portions are big! food is really tasty.
We were the only ones there on a Tuesday 17.40. Took the kitchen 15min to have our food ready.
Prices are ok. same price you pay at TGI, Franco, Wagamamas, starters from £8 and main meal £12-£17
It is a good place to take friends or family members.
It's surprisingly very wheelchair friendly !

Expensive for what it is ... £41 for two mains.... little atmosphere... the food was alright not fantastic... wont be returning

Great tasting authentic African dishes. I've been a few times and been impressed each time with the service and quality of the dishes.

If you like chilli (scotch bonnet level) this is the place to go. This is West African cuisine which has a lot of grilled meat and fish and fried plantains. The Jollof rice is fantastic and something everyone who tries West African cuisine for the first time must have. Reading has plenty of predictable large chain restaurants, this is something different that you won't find everywhere (except their two other branches in London!) They also do takeaway if you don't want to be seen sweating in the restaurant on account of the chilli's.

Great food. Staff are professional. Menu could be more inclusive. There is an assumption everyone will know what the dishes are and I became dependant on the waitress to explain. So maybe a description with ingredients. There is also one level of hot and may not be to everyone's taste. Otherwise would have give full marks

Good snacks! I only bought lovely meat pies on my last visit

The soups does not taste anything near the African delicacy...
T. O.
Beautiful restaurant and welcoming staff. Lovely garnished gizzards, but egusi wasn't up to standard

Menu are well cooked and presented. The only reason they are getting 3 is because of the salt. I don't really give reviews but felt i should, so that the owners can reduce the salt content of their menus. I have basically stopped eating here because all the menus are salty which is a shame. The community, 805 is serving is prone to Blood pressure. Please reduce the salt to help this community. A good chef brings the best from a menu without bombarding it with salt to taste good.

Ordered a Half Rotisserie Chicken with Pepper Sauce and Jollof Rice on Deliveroo
Rice was a large portion and great tasting! I would even order this as just a whole meal! The chicken was also tasty, although I did order a half chicken but it only came with 3 legs which was kind of a bummer instead of a wing, breast, and leg.
The rice was in a traditional takeaway box, but the chicken was oddly just wrapped in aluminum foil with peppers and onions in it. Rather abnormal, but it did it's job of making it's way onto my plate and kept the food warm.
I am excited to try out new dishes and because of the rice, this place shows promise and I will certainly be ordering again. The food was a tad expensive, so not something that can be ordered extremely often, but it was worth it.
4/5, mostly good - some quirks that need to be worked out!

I love this place. Myself and my dad come here a few times to eat but we ordered some pounded yam and soup but unfortunately for the amount we paid, we only recieved the soup without the poundes yam. Was disappointed by this but overall good food

Really enjoyed the food, ambiance and service. This was the first time to an African (Nigerian blend) restaurant, and really didnt know what to expect. Fair play to the waiter for taking the time to explain the different types of dish, how they come etc. Most of the food is spicy, which is great for me, but possibly not for all. Great flavours. Worth a try. Thank you, see you again soon...!

I had my birthday celebration on Saturday 31/11/20 and absolutely loved the services provided by Seemar and Ayo at the reception. They really made my day. In terms of the food, I had the Edikaikong soup and felt you could do better, I was not very impressed with the soup. My 5 Star is for the 2 reception staff, they are excellent, their professionalism and manner is out of this world.

Great ambience, the restaurant looked very cozy and well lit. Can't fault the look and feel at all. I went with family and friends and they were well impressed with the look of it.
The food tasted good, a bit pricey but portion size is not bad. The presentation of the food was top notch as well, very nice and soft touches.
However, I think intensive staff training is required. First, one of the meals we ordered never arrived. It was 'forgotten'. It was later brought in but after the rest of the table had nearly finished their food, that was a let down.
After the main, a waiter kept coming to the table to ask if we were ready for the bill, if we had recieved our bill etc. I dont know if that was his idea of being proactive or 'nice' but it was off putting. A number of us wanted to try desserts but since we were being hassled about the bill, we thought it best to quit while ahead and settle 'the bill'. What a way to ruin the visit for customers especially first time ones.

This was my first experience of Nigerian food. The food was good, some of it was flippin hot (spicy). But be prepared for a long wait to be served.... firstly they 'forgot' we'd arrived, then the first waiter that came to take our order went to ask the chef something when we had asked him... and never came back. Eventually another waiter arrived and we ordered. The starters arrived promptly, but we waited an hour and a half for the mains... and it wasn't even very busy. So good food and a fun experience, but you'll be there for many hours!

Loved it! Will definitely be back

Great food, great ambience and friendly staff. On our arrival the restaurant was not full. However, there was only one person serving the whole place, taking good and drink orders. This meant that there was quite a wait for both food and beverage orders. We almost didn't notice the wait though because the atmosphere was very pleasant and the music was great. Four stars because the staffing complement could have been higher.... Highly recommended.

The venue is 10/10, the service is really professional and prompt, and the food of course is always cooked to a quality standard. Even with the challenges that the pandemic has brought, 805 continue to offer the best in authentic Nigerian cuisine.

Absolutely amazing food and service. Ayo and Sameer were top notch! The party was quite demanding but they maintained their smiles and kept us laughing the entire time! Brilliant night, amazing food and awesome staff! Gold star

Lovely dinner experience. Very clean restaurant with great ambience and background music. Was lucky to get a quick service as it wasn’t a busy day.
Menu seems expensive but the portions are big and very tasty. If your stomach is small you might even have some left to take home.
I’m deffo coming back again and again and again!

Had the tilapia and jollof rice. Very nice and tasty, Jollof rice was really good. Best I have had in a long time. Food arrived on time too. Well done 805!!!

The food was okay but they need to learn not to put pepper on Grilled Fish and Suya, and to allow the customers to make their own choice on how much pepper they want on their food. As it Spoiled the whole taste of the food.

My friend, my daughter and myself just got back fron the restaurant. We arrived at 7:30PM and was served the food at 10:00 PM.
The atmosphere and the members of staff are great, very great, their professionalism is great, BUT 2 things:
Our order was taken by a member of staff and he was not even writing it down, when we asked him, he said, he will memorize everything.
Secondly, we kept being told to wait 15 minutes, 10 minutes, then 10 more minutes until 10:00 PM when we left the restaurant.
We were compensated some drinks, which is good, but when we got home, we were missing two set of plantains, which normal come with the large fish and chicken.
I was invited today, and I must it's disappointing. Would I still come back? Of course, your staff is lovely, but just as an advice, please keep the order time to a minimum.
Thank you and keep doing the great jobs nd your food tastes VERY NICE.

Good ambience. Very pricey (i suppose you are paying more for the chic ambience than anything).
Very average service. Good meal presentation.
A couple of items listed on menu i was told were not available when i ordered them.
Prob wont return as there are other african restaurants that will serve same quality food at much cheaper prices and have much friendlier service.

Loved the food, spiciest I ever tried. No bread thought, maybe the food doesn't go with bread, no idea. Also, if I am been sexualy harassed by one of the other costumers I would really appreciate your help...
P. S.
First time in a Nigerian restaurant. Fantastic food and excellent service from Ayo and Sami. Really enjoyed my jollof rice and mixed grill. Definitely coming back again!

The soups are absolutely delicious. I had the okra, efforiro , obono with fish. It tasted like home. ❤️
A. A.
What a nice pleasant surprise to find this place. Decor is modern and simple. Food was a nice delight. Ordered croaker fish for one main and mixed grill for another. Both delicious. Be careful the chilli.... Did not have the smooth operation of a well oiled restaurant machine but staff were helpful and would go again.
C. J.

Service was really good and the food..... simply amazing!

Excellent food & ambience but the wait is too long even when only less than half the tables were occupied. It took more than 40 mins for our order to be served.
S. P.
Very nice lightings, not a very big hall, menu filled with African dish, waiters are welcoming
D. C.
Compared to the 805 on Old Kent Road in London, this one was so much nicer and aesthetically pleasing. The food was nice (except the suya which was a little too moist and chewy).
A. D.
