Reviews of Bill's Reading Restaurant
M. O.
We had the best time. The food, the service and the atmosphere was amazing. The bread and olives was the perfect start to the evening. They were both moorish. My starter was fantastic too because of the kick it had wit chillie and spring onion . I had the sea bass and because I am allergic to milk they gave me sweet potato fries instead of the potato option which is cooked in milk. The sea bass was beautiful because it was cooked to perfection and the skin was crisp too. The dish blew me away. This place is a must on anyone’s restaurant to eat list.

My boss was so kind to invite us to this place. The interior design is great and you felt like being in someone’s place. The food is very delicious and a big variety is served here. Everyone will find something here and the service is excellent. You can feel that the staff wants to do their very best to make you feel comfortable- want to come again as soon as I can

I popped in for a coffee before a job interview & was served by Greta... Outstanding quick service with complimentary chocolates & service with a smile... Would definitely recommend again... Visited a few months ago with my son & his girlfriend & lovely friendly service then too...

It was raining in Reading last Saturday afternoon and i needed a place to wait whilst my husband had his Covid jab. I saw a sign outside Bills saying festive cocktail, £2.99. What? £2.99 for a cocktail, that can't be right!?
I went in and found a lovely table by a fireplace. The cocktail soon came and it was amazing, beautifully decorated and tasted delicious. This tempted me to look at the food menu. It was approaching 5pm and they were changing menus. I text my husband and asked him to join me when he finished his jab, as we hadn't booked anywhere.
SO glad we decided to stay and eat as the food was simply outstanding. We eat out ALOT and most of the time come away feeling dissatisfied or short-changed, but everything about Bills was perfect. We shared the mezze starter and my hubby had the festive burger which he said was the best he's ever had (he's a burger expert). We finished with the festive Xmas cheesecake served in a real plant pot!
Everything about our experience was amazing, from the food, to the ambience and the service. So much so that I will be organising a festive group dinner there next year!

We celebrated my birthday here and were not disappointed. The team were very welcoming and the surroundings inside were fantastic, always something to look at with the decor.
Accommodated our daughter who is two.
The sharing plate and margaritas were amazing!

Okay breakfast 😀 price probably closing in the slightly higher than mid range for restaurant. But all in nice food and quirky location which is situated in a victorian style house for dining which was unique!
D. A.
I love the interior of this place is very beautiful and incredibly unique ✨ the food was alright not Amazing it’s quite standard in my opinion specially the breakfast 🍳 obviously it depend on what you order, but I heard the egg Benedict is nice. I like the verity of healthy options that they have🌱
But I feel the main attraction is the interior. It has a very nice and joyful vibe. Everywhere you look you find something interesting✨ it is one of a kind experience
The Wi-Fi is also good and the service is quite fast and the staff are very friendly and accommodating!

Busy Saturday morning. We arrived at 11,hadn't booked but we were able to get a seat. Nice decor but some of the seating is a little too close for me. Friendly and attentive staff. Had the traditional breakfast, not very filling but tasty. Would have preferred back bacon to streaky. More butter to be served with the toast please. Fried eggs over cooked ,however when this was pointed out it was quickly replaced. Looking forward to my next visit

When I attended this place, it was very crowded.
The tables were too close together to the point where it was not comfortable. I was told that there was only one table available, but it was not alluring to have a meal in such close proximity to other people.
In that particular section of the restaurant, it was entirely too packed and I have seen few restaurants in which people are just too close together.
I am giving this place five stars because the member of staff with whom I interacted was so lovely and friendly.
S. G.
Fantastic place and beautiful. About the food I give them 100 points 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🤗

My friend and I visited Bills in Reading yesterday in the pouring rain.We both have young babies and therefore had two prams with us, which I totally understand can be annoying for restaurants, especially in the middle of the lunch time service. But we were made to feel so welcome. The staff were incredibly accommodating and patient with us - it was a really great experience so thank you.... The food was nice too!
V. P.
Coasy restaurant with a beautiful interior. Staff was warm and welcome.
Food was simply delicious.

Every time I visit Bill’s I’m so so happy with the service. As someone that works in retail management I can appreciate the importance of leaving the customers happy. A special thank you to Kasia, who has served me multiple times in the past and once again did not disappoint today. She is an amazing asset to the team. Keep up the great work 😊
B. D.
The restaurant was clearly very busy. Even our coffee took a long time to arrive and wasn't warm. Food took a long time to arrive and staff looked really stressed, so my words reflect on management not the waiters and waitresses. One of our party is vegan and was very limited on options. She asked for beans on toast and they assured that would be fine, turns out it was 4 slices of toast and a small lukewarm jug of beans. On asking if she could have some more beans, we were told that would take about 25 minutes. When food did arrive, the flavours were good, but the wait and the temperatures were very disappointing.

Waiter (grace) was perfect. The food was excellent. Service was excellent. Valentines dinner was cooked to perfection. Perfect place to have a chilled out dinner. Overall 5⭐️ Will definitely be attending there again.

I was pleasantly surprised with my coffee & brunch at Bills recently sitting outside. The outdoor space and indoor decor have been revamped in recent times, and it looks great. The coffee was nice and strong, eggs yummy and staff friendly. I’d been put off this chain a number of years ago - perhaps a symptom of its own success in London and swing to independents - but this recent experience has won Bills back for me. I’ll definitely have it on my coffee & brunch radar again now.
T. C.
Great decor inside the restaurant and relaxed atmosphere. It's a great location in the centre of Reading. Although not the widest choice of vegan options on the menu, I loved the vegan choices that I had. I'd certainly go again
J. D.
I've Bill's and its usually my first choice place to eat in Reading. Food is always good and staff are kept super busy bur are always helpful. Decor is beautiful and prices are very reasonable.
D. R.
Great service, great food. Highly recommended. We felt some welcomed by the staff. The food (lunchtime) was just perfect.
J. D.
I took my 2 and 4 year old here on Saturday morning whilst we waited for an appointment. We have a couple of allergies and was very impressed with how this was handled. I’d made a mistake myself in ordering an item we couldn’t have, the manager couldn’t have been gracious even though I offered to pay a suitable toddler friendly breakfast was quickly whipped up.
Really enjoyed our visit, calm and welcoming.
R. K.
The decor is definitely better than the food but the staff are a delight. It’s clean friendly and very pleasant with an exceptional atmosphere.
As my gran would say “if your happy and don’t have any reason to moan then don’t try to make an excuse to moan because it means your happy”
S. B.
Fantastic ambience right in the middle of the town center..yet very quaint.. welcoming staff.. we didn't have the mains but if I were to go by the nibbles we had, the food was excellent.. would surely go back again for a full meal.
S. g.
I would recommend their breakfast 🍳 they have a big range of options, and there are something for everyone vegan and non vegan 💜 this branch have an outdoor seating area
S. H.
This is where we nearly always eat when we grab lunch whilst shopping in Reading. It's always good and the meals are fairly priced. Would be 5 stars if they had a few more vegetarian options.
V. B.
I went for breakfast yesterday with my friends and that was not the first time as I like the place and the food. This time our experience was a bit different though as the service was really poor. The waitress was very strange and out of nowhere she asked us if we were ready for the bill just 10-15 minutes after the food was served. We said we wanted more time and just one minute after she cleaned the table. In the meantime, we had ordered some extra bread and butter which they never remembered to serve. Other than that, the sun was shiny and had our coffee elsewhere.

I celebrated my 40th birthday at Bill's yesterday. Food at Bill's is always good but what made it really special was the staff. Starting from making the booking and how lovely the manager was , then even calling them and how friendly they were over the phone but the best part was the main waitress who looked after us from 1 to 5pm. She was just the best. Nothing was too much to ask, she was smiling, polite and funny. Unfortunately I forgot her name. It was a busy weekend for me. Thank you for making my BIG day memorable and for all the help. You are a star!
M.
Another fabulous lunch with fabulous service and so accommodating of baby.
Excellent value midweek set menu, swift service and tasty too of course. We’ll be back again!
M. V.
I had a chicken burger and I wasn’t impressed with how it tasted. I actually couldn’t even finish the meal and left it there. Dessert was nice. Staff was overbearing and kept coming over to see if we were ready to order even if we had said we were waiting for one more person to join us. Overall it wasn’t a bad experience, but I will not come back
K. L.
Popped in for lunch. My first time and I thought it was an independent restaurant. My partner said there is one in Farnham and so we thought it is a chain. But, what a very different chain. Very eclectic, with an unfussy menu. The staff were ultra polite, efficient; and effective of course, and, HAPPY!!
We both had the fish pie which was delicious and piping hot.
For a lunchtime it was busy so it must be popular. In MacArthurs immortal words "I shall return!"
Highly Recommended!!!
A. D.
I came to bills on a recommendation from a friend and bill's truely did not dissapoint .
The staff where fantastic and assertive and where always ready to help.
The food arrived in rapid time and was beautiful in both appearance and flavor.
Would recomend booking in advance to avoid being turned away as the place seemed to be busy .but from entry to exit the staff where second to none
T. G.
Bills is one of my favourite chains here. I've been to this location several times and service is superb. Staff are very friendly and food is very yummy. Absolutely recommended
D. V.
A calm and nice restaurant...for a date night, meeting with friends our even for your birthday. Amazing food and for a fair price. You gonna love for sure your time here...Enjoy and then let me know
S. H.
The restaurant decoration is amazing, it looks cosy and colourful. The food is really tasty and the service is very good. We tried the lunch express menu: Main and drink for 10£. It is absolutely a great deal.
W. E. R.
Lovely place, excellent good, nicest staff. Love it
S. H.
Fish finger sandwich was disappointing – too much bread (which was dry) and not enough fish finger. Following this, the flower pot dessert surpassed all expectations, with presentation and flavour both fantastic. Staff seemed disinterested and bored throughout.
T. L.
Nice atmosphere, staff were pleasant but the whole meal felt rushed. The nachos were odd and needed melted cheese rather than crumbly feta. Other food was good but not exciting.
C. C.
Nice food - my chargrilled chicken was moist and very tasty. The Passion Fruit Spritz was also very good!
E. H.
Went here for the first time for my son's birthday. Lovely staff, clean tables. Food was lovely, get alot for your money. Deco is great and different. Would probably go again
P. R.
Came across Bills on a Sunday evening and liked the eclectic decoration. It has been recently refurbished and they have done a good job.
Food was good and we started with the Veggie sharing platter which included crispy fried cauliflower, fried halloumi, Bill's chutney, spiced tortillas, avocado, tzatziki & red pepper dip & olives. Very filling!
Mains included a half chicken with garlic and a spicy peri-peri sauce and a sea bass with avocado, cherry tomato & caper salsa.
Would try the breakfast / brunch and sit outside on a sunny day overlooking the Reading Minster of St. Mary the Virgin.
C. L.
Went Saturday 9th October for lunch. It was most enjoyable we had one of the sharing dishes excellent and I had the crumble to die for. It was nice and busy plenty of staff. Right next door to St. Mary's Minster. Well it was once the Vicarage!!
O. I.
Lovely ambience, aesthetics goals . Service wasn’t that great, they forgot my order. Food was okay.
N. W.
Dinner wasn't the most flavoursome. I had the chicken kebabs and quinoa. Service was lovely.
C. I.
I had an excellent experience in this restaurant, staff were polite and the food was amazing, you could taste the difference in organic food produce.
V. D.
We had our work Christmas party there, we were the first to experience the new décor after the major refurb at Bill's and it was beautiful! Food was great, decor was stunning and finished to a very high standard, and the waitress we had was fantastic!! Sharron we as super friendly, nothing was too much trouble, and we even convinced her to join in on our charades game towards the end of the evening! Thank you Sharron!!!
A. B.
Great food and service with really good portions. Value for money and I would definitely recommend.
L. B.
Wonderful anniversary dinner there. Lovely food, superb attention to detail and welcoming staff. A really enjoyable occasion.
M.
Wonderful experience! Amazing quality of food, we were very pleasantly surprised. Very good range of gluten free and vegan food with separate dedicated preparation areas.
M. F.
Went with some friends and had a lovely time!! Great atmosphere and good food, and the sweetest staff! Our waitress Noor was really kind and helpful, would definitely come back again!
v.
Great lunch with my daughter today. Tasty Macaroni Cheese with bacon, and Steak and Chips
M.
Went in this morning for breakfast. Our waitress Noor was amazing!! super friendly and helpful. wonderful customer service. i recommend the garden plate and the berry smoothie. i will be coming again soon
B. S. K.
had an amazing waitress that brought my food quickly, i ordered the set meal and it was fantastic and i loved the triple chocolate brownie dessert. Definitely will go again with my friends!
M. T.
Recently had the office Christmas party in the upstairs room and it was an excellent experience. Food was superb and service good, especially considering the size of the group.
W. B.
Service was fantastic. Waitress was extremely patient with some very fussy eaters! The food was amazing. Highly recommend
B. E.
Amazing place for brunch, with the most delicious pancakes! If you’re brave enough, go for the 5-stack, and make sure you request more maple syrup (trust me, you’ll need it in the end). You can have some of your food to go if you feel like you can’t finish it all up - the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, so you’ll always have someone at hand to help you with whatever you need.
K. E.
Great breakfast pre-Sunday morning shop. Good selection of food with good quality and service
D. A.
Bill's have very nice staff and I have always liked the atmosphere in this place. Food is ok price and portions are good.
Sitting by the window is a good spot if you're eating on your own.
only downside is they don't have any plugs on th wall to charge your laptop. Maybe it's their way of not having guest staying for too long. 😉
E. P.
First time visiting a Bill's restaurant and I was impressed. We pre booked for 3, we went on a Monday to benefit from the Eat Out Help Out scheme, we were taken to the table as soon as we arrived. Friendly staff, addressed all the questions about the menu. The food was delicious, good size portions as well. I had the fish pie as main and calamari as starter, very good. All the tables have alcohol gel. You can also get good WiFi connection while there. I would only mention that I haven't seen any staff using the alcohol gel and none of them have masks or visors.
Б. С.
Very good place, located next to the old church yard, has terrace and really nice interior. Food is pretty tasty, service is good, definitely nice place to spend your eve, though not the cheap one, but not that expensive as well, worth it’s money 100%.
s. b.
Delicious food served by friendly staff in a wonderful atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone.
S. S.
This is the traditional breakfast and berry smoothie. Very yummy
T. P.
Good for a chilled breakfast. Service is good, staff are attentive. Food quality is decent, if a little expensive.nice.
A. C.
Very well done bills reading. Great menu well cooked and presented and this one has to be one of the most interesting building and decor wise
J.
Went for brunch and despite it being very busy, the food came quickly and the staff were lovely.
M. C.
Excellent ! Great food, great service magnificent location and decorations. To share with your beloved one no reserve.
D. P.
It’s been a long time since I’ve been here. It took an Eternity to order. However the chicken dish was cooked well and flavoursome with a nice mushroom sauce. I loved the mash as well. Toilets were also very clean.
T. B.
Excellent service and interesting food choices. Nicely presented and nice decor at the Reading Bill in St Mary's.
Our waiter extremely helpful, friendly and efficient unfortunately didn't get his name, but he was from Sicily, Italy.
K.
Nice outdoor area and interior (very colourful and exotic) but unfortunately the atmosphere is flat as a pancake. The place was only a quarter full the day i went for a drink after tennis and my cocktail (which was tiny) took around 15 minutes to be brought out to me. I'm sure it's part of the allure of the cocktail but I've seen marathons finish quicker than this 😝 The servers seemed a bit on edge which to me is strange because it should be fun going to these places! Just relax guys and have some fun.
F. L.
Bill's is an ok-ish chain on par with Pizza Express, Strada etc, but not as good as Wagamama. The food was average, but has gotten more 'creative' since the last time I visited ages ago. I had the mushroom wellington, with butterbean mash. It filled me up satisfactorily, but nothing to write home about. During lunch it gets busy, but the staff are great at managing service and the food is brought out in a reasonable time.
R. M.
Great restaurant with good food and ambiance. Try their flower pot dessert.
E. L.
Really good menu and nice staff. Food came really quickly. There are so many veggie options which is amazing. Drinks options were great too. Overall a great experience.
O. B.
Lovely food and atmosphere, was able to just arrive on the day, and there was little wait time for the foodnto arrive
P. R.
Had a lovely breakfast, staff were very friendly. Will definitely visit again the next time I am in Reading
S. F.
Lovely selection of vegetarian food available.
Fresh juices made on site.
Friendly staff
I. S.
I like this place primarily for Brunch. Being gluten intolerant personally, they offer a wide range of gluten free options that are just as high quality as the non gluten free versions. Especially the gluten free sourdough bread that comes with brunch is very good and I wish I could buy it in the supermarket. Place has nice vibes since they've redone it last year too.
L. O.
Excellent food but they were very slow. We were seated 30mins late even though we booked. However, they did give us free coffee.
W. H.
Over priced for a simple breakfast and coffee (£18.00) and wasn't the best food or service and just felt uncomfortable with staff when needing to ask to use the toilet
S. B.
A nice dinner pleasantly served in convivial surroundings
E. L.
Lovely atmosphere! Efficient and friendly service. Nice coffee
R. M.
Nice place, great food.
Service was somewhat weird last time we went there related to clean glasses. 4 glasses for our table, all were dirty but really dirty. The waiter was nice to replace a new bottle of the one we started to serve. Funny enough, a couple arrives at next table and booommm, dirty glasses for them also. Poor washing day that was.
K. M.
Lovely little restaurant. We had breakfast, great food. Great service!
G. G.
Been here 3 times and never find the service efficient. I know its popular but ... We went to have drink and cake on a sunny late Sat afternoon. It took ages to get stuff. It felt like hard work. Young server apologised. They had forgotten us.
T. c.
Ideal Sunday brunch spot! Beautiful and stylish, family friendly.
S. D.
I went for breakfast on the bank holiday - had to queue & was lucky to get a table as hadn't booked. They had run out of pancakes but were at least warning the queue of that fact & also found I couldn't have some of the smoothies. Breakfast was good (except the forced choice of smoothie) even if a bit slow.
M. H.
Service is deplorable, waited over 10 mins to be served even drinks. To busy with customers already eating. They really need to up their customer service.. totally unimportant
A. R.
No one will be able to argue that, cost wise, there are a lot of more cost-saving alternatives around town.
There is, however, no arguing that food and service are of good quality and, when eating inside, the setting is nice and welcoming.
J. S.
Great food and excellent service! Can’t wait to come back 😁
N.
Really good chicken ceaser salad. The staff even got a specific balsamic vinegar dressing for me
L. W.
Lovely building, good food at good prices. Staff were a bit slow but guess it was fairly busy. Didn't book but still got a table late morning on Sunday for brunch
m. m.
Had a really nice relaxing time yesterday afternoon . Soaked up the chilled brunch atmosphere with a couple of aperol spritz. The calamari is lush, crispy and succulent. The strawberry donuts rock. Brilliant end to a meal. Kasha Marius Yvonna Andy and the whole team should be very proud of themselves. Looked after us just perfectly. Would def reccommend
C. M.
Nicely decorated and thoughtfully designed Bill’s is a homely cafe/coffee house. The drinks are reasonably priced and taste great as you’d expect. The location is nicely seated near important bus stops and tucked just away from the main road so it is a little quieter. Depending on where you are sitting the waiting staff may forget about you, which made it very tempting to go home from Bill’s without a bill.
J. T.
Food was really tasty and the waiter was very helpful and friendly. I tried the fish pie and I loved it.
D. P.
Treat ourselves to an anniversary meal at Bill's a few days ago and can't think of a single fault. The staff were all really nice and polite and delivered great service despite them being super busy / max capacity due to eat out to help out scheme; food arrived very quickly, quality was excellent and good value even if not at a discount. The decor is gorgeous - definitely one of the nicer places in Reading (well to my tastes anyway!)
Heavily recommend
G.
Significantly revamped interior and a good place for lunch/dinner in the centre of Reading.
S. Z.
Heard alot about this place, so l decided to give a try. But well worth it . I had the Garden Breakfast with a coffee.
G. C.
Enjoyed a Saturday afternoon at the Bill's
L. W.
Super delicious breakfast and amazing service. Will definitely be visiting there again!
A. U.
The decoration of the place is amazing, really beautiful place. But the food is just okay, eatable, but I don't think it deserves the price, we order burgers and I'm sure McDonald's is better. Also they charged us a 20% for the service when we barely see the waitresses. It was a disappointing experience but not terrible.
V. L.
Lovely decor, friendly service, tasty food, well sized portions. A couple of hickups with our orders, but we got a discount for that without having to ask.
G. B.
Beautiful building, clever decor, very enjoyable food. Great venue.
T. R.
Excellent food and service. Dullio was very attentive and accomodating. One of our group has IBS and so needed lots of menu changes but it never felt like a problem. Would definitely recommend.
b. b.
Lovely restaurant. Very pleasant environment and well prepared food.
J. B.
Lovely building with large rooms. Good food & friendly staff.
B. S.
An extensive menu at reasonable prices.
This includes steaks, burgers, ribs ,egg and chips , chicken and salads
Good quality food and service.
P. M.
Had a breakfast was lovely and service was brilliant great place
J. M.
A lovely atmosphere and good food. Service can be a little slow at peak times.
T. P.
Made a booking for 11.45am but still had to wait in the rain for 20 minutes for a table to become free. Not too worried about that, it's good to see a business doing well during Covid times. However, everyone properly rammed inside, not much social distancing. It would have been nice to have been addressed by staff earlier though, only after a 20 minute wait in the rain and a 10 minute wait inside was the first time a member of staff spoke to us.
Anyway, service was generally slow, the food took ages. I had mac n cheese and I think they put dry pasta in a bowl, poured a small amount of source in the middle and topped with cheese. Honestly pretty bland, and lots of dry pasta, not great.
Shame, because the place looked like it would be great. Normally, I'd give a far harsher star rating, because businesses need to be aware of failures. But it's hard times and no one needs kicking right now. Despite the failures today, I'll definitely try again, as should someone reading this.
V. R.
The place is relaxing and well decorated, with an excellent serving team. Sadly the food is not as good as the environment.
N. P.
I love coming back to bills. The food is excellent. The reason why this is 4 star is that It’s hit or miss. Sometimes I’m willing to take the miss because the food is tasty. It gets really busy that service sometimes takes the fall. Waiting longer than one would want for the waiter. Food arriving cold. Then sometimes in the complete opposite. Service is fast and food is hot. I’ll keep coming back. In the hope that I get a good day.
M. S.
Had a really nice time, good was good, service was great! Will be visiting again.
D. B.
Great service and food, went for the christmasy meal and was great!
M. W.
Very nice interior design, food reasonably priced and delicious. We all liked everything we ordered 👌 Will definitely come back! Nice atmosphere and staff. Highly recommended 👍
A. “. D.
Staff were great, food was great too. It was windy outside, and the umbrellas started falling over - the staff were quick to sort that out.
E. B.
Very attentive staff, fabulous food and a great atmosphere. 😋
R. D.
Bill's Reading was accommodating and welcoming. We had good food in a great space. We found the service to be exceptional. It's a shame that we are currently not able to meet in groups because the upstairs has a great venue for large gatherings and groups
F. L. F.
A bit expensive and the service is a bit meh, but food and smoothies are really good
S. M.
I think that the restaurant was over run to his evening and the staff were surprised by the number of diners. I cannot imagine that this is how the place normally operates. We sat for 50 mins with a glass of water each untill our started turned up followed by our first drink. Another 45 mins passed until the mains hit the table. This was supposed to be my Daughter's leaving treat the night before going to University. It hindsight was an expensive mistake. I am sure it was an off night for them so I gave 3 stars (no 2.5 option). Staff were nice and if service was up to scratch it would have scraped a 4.
L. L.
My husband Craig and myself had breakfast at Bill's this morning. The staff were superb, very friendly and efficient with a great sense of humour. The decor in the restaurant was amazing - very eclectic. We would recommend this Bill's to anyone.
B. F.
Came here on a busy Sunday late morning. Was blown away by the excellent service, particularly by our waiter Dan. Attentive, friendly and polite, and nothing we asked for was too much trouble. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect for brunch. Would definitely recommend and will be back again.
A. W.
Had a yummy family meal here, including taking part in the post COVID government scheme 'eat out to help out'
Four of us, two adults two kids, ate for £80. That was four adult set meals, two with puddings and two soft drinks and a bottle of house wine.
Would have been £120 without the scheme.
Set meals included calamari as a starter and steak on the mains. As it happens there was no sirloin steaks available but some tasty, if less expensive, minute steaks were on offer.
Please make sure you book in though, as we saw several groups either being turned away, or choosing not to wait for a free table.

Excellent service provided when myself and 3 friends went in for a breakfast meal. The table was booked which I strongly recommend as it was very busy. The food was delicious and freshly cooked to order. The waitress serving us was very attentive as was the manager who was making sure that all diners were enjoying the experience. I highly recommend Bills to you.
A. S.
Bill's isn't what it used to be, it used to be fresh, innovative in a very different style. OK, the Reading branch still has quite a nice decor but I found the food here felt pre-prepared and formulaic and I strongly suspect that the calamari I ordered had been cooked long ago and kept warm.
Service was OK but a little over the top (we were asked seven times during the meal if everything was OK). Menu is medium-interesting and prices at the upper end of OK.
M. V.
Had a farewell dinner here and the service was exceptional. We booked one of the upstairs rooms for 26 people and the staff were absolutely brilliant with service for drinks beforehand and getting meals out on time. The food was lovely and atmosphere really nice - great selection of meals too. Made for a lovely farewell for our colleague. Would highly recommend!
J. M.
I think the food is well priced but the service is not the best. I think this is more a problem with management, if you sit outside expect to wait 30 minutes at your table to order
C. T.
I LOVE Bills! My fave place to eat in Reading :) I've been here so many times since they first opened and the staff have always been incredibly lovely and super friendly. The service is fantastic, and there have been a couple of times where the team have gone over and above their call of duty to deliver an exceptional customer service. The food is consistently top notch, and that's coming with someone who is extremely conscious when it comes to eating well. The venue itself is the right balance of space and cosiness, and is great for all occasions - from weekend brunch catch ups to birthday celebrations. I look forward to every visit and I'm already planning my next :) Thanks so much guys and I'll see you soon!

Like the feel of this place. Cosy, quirky and food great.
L. M.
It's your classic Bill's restaurant, so if you've been to another you can know what to expect. Great atmosphere in the evenings with candles and chilled atmosphere. Love their brunches and recommend 'Bill's Pink Lemonade' as it is amazing. Generally busy but staff have the right amount of checking you're OK but not bugging you.
S. P.
I went for breakfast which was delicious, but a little over priced for what you get. The service is also good but this is let down by it's new layout.
There are too many tables and it is very crowded. Made getting in and out tricky, also felt very on top of each other.
Also the new tables are too low and make for an awkward eating experience, looks like there re-vamp was a bit of a failure.
N. R.
I came here with my family, loved the Rustic vibe, I always find bills family friendly with a good selection of food served.
Service was amazing, would come back
D. S.
Bills in Reading is a Fantastic experience. Walking in, we were super impressed by the ambience. The design elements to the unique seating..to even the plates on offer. Some unique options on menu like salted caramel tart or the flower pot (below) Everything was just magnificent. We would highly recommend Bills in Reading.. it's truly a feast for the senses!
R. T.
Comfy seats, great set menu, cutesy

Bills is my favourite place to eat and has been for a while. Unfortunately I haven’t been for some time as I’m trying to try new places.
I love the food at bills. Especially the ceased salad and sweet potato fries! The serves are normally pretty friendly and I love the way the restaurant are decorated.
However I do think the drinks are slightly over price along with some of the food. Overall pretty good tho! I will be sure to take a picture of my food next time I go :)
T. H.
We like a lot to go out. Yesterday we found this superb restaurant which friends told us about. We enjoyed a delightful experience there with fine food and an efficient stuff and a distinguished cook. We added this fine restaurant in our list and we will surely come back soon. We warmly recommend.

Love birthday breakfast for my wife....service was good

I have been to the Bill’s restaurant in Reading a couple of days ago and had a vegetarian Wellington which was an interesting change pf menu for me. I have been served by a great Restaurant Assistant - she was Polish and had brown shoulder-length hair, in her 40s. The restaurant is nicely located but it is also very big and fantastically decorated inside in a rustic style. Great place for a meal!
R. R.
Meal lovely, staff over attentive 4 different girls came to ask if our meals were ok!!!! We had to remind different waitresses that we were still waiting for drinks. We will come back because your food was very good. I'm a nurse and have a Blue light card and stupidly forgot to show it for our discount. My fault entirely.
A. B.
The quality of the food feels overpriced for the level of service you get. The ingredients were high quality and cooked to perfection, and although it was busy, the staff were friendly... They just kept forgetting the small things, like bringing butter for the bread or collecting empty dishes on the way to bringing us coffee. They were very disorganized and even had two waitresses trying to take our order at one point. The air-conditioning was over our table and dripping on us though, which is a huge no no in my book. 1 star loss for the aircon, 1 for the mediocre and disorganized service.
T. G.
Food lovely, service was slow. We were upstairs and there was only one poor waitress run ragged with a busy floor full of customers. She was left unsupported and this sullied the experience. People were complaining but it wasn't her fault, should have been better managed.
K. I. D.
I love this place and food is delicious 💯
P. A.
Bill's is one of those places you go for a good reliable meal either for lunch or dinner, it's not fancy but nor is it trying to be. Downside - the menu doesn't change that often, upside - the menu doesn't change that often, which means if you know what you like you can get it again knowing it'll be consistent. Service is good, the seating spaces can feel a bit cramped and claustrophobic but otherwise it's a nice building. Overall good quality, reliable, consistent and friendly. Decent value too, considering the reliable quality.
e.
Great decor, very warm inside!!
E. G.
Beautiful place and great food !
S. C.
Food was good, not fussed on the coffee (personal choice I guess). Service was okay as we ordered off menu (very slightly). The kitchen did a good job but we confused the lady serving us as we swapped scrambled egg to poached egg. Prices are average for what we had.
E. N.
A bit disappointed with the food. Felt like they were trying to cut costs. Toppings were scarce. Bread was really stale. Lovely atmosphere and staff but food was a let down considering the price.
F.
Really yummy food, lovely interior and great location - close enough to car parks and public transport options and looking out into the churchyard. Always feels very homely and welcoming. Probably my favourite Bill's (and I've been to lots!)
R. J.
Lovely food, variety of alcohol brands a bit limited & pricey
d. n.
Cute little breakfast place. We ordered the Bill's garden plate and some hot chocolate to beat the cold. It was yummy and filling. Service was prompt. Loved the vibe at this place. Would definitely recommend.
A. C.
The wine glasses were dirty, the capucino I ordered was without foam and most of it was poured. The waitress took care of us and changed the capucino, I thank the waitress.
S. D.
The food at bills is amazing and fresh and the atmosphere is lovely. One thing is if you look at your bill closely at bottom there is an option service charge which I was not aware of. I only noticed when it was £8 and we were group of 4. This is not America I will tip if I feel the service was good. You can say please remove the service charge and they will.
P. G.
Went for dinner here with colleagues to mark the leaving of one of our team.
There were 12 in our party but food and drink orders were taking quickly and efficiently.
All of the food was well cooked and presented and no complaints from anyone. The drinks were all good, with champagne and cocktails making for a good night. 6 of us drank on right until closing time and the staff were friendly and efficient even as they were heading to the end of the night.
Overall really good quality food and great service
S. P.
Nice decor and efficient staff, but quite expensive for what you actually get. Nearly £10 for breakfast of two eggs, three tiny strips of bacon and 1 sausage. Breakfast used to be much better there and cheaper. Good quality food but I don't be going back as you can get better value and quality elsewhere
m. m.
Always enjoyed the atmosphere, the location is great, especially if you get to sit outside, it is a lovely place to be and have your coffee. Still, for me, food just ok, no surprises.
J. J.
Food was nice but the service was so slow and the restaurant was so dirty! Food all over the floor and seats were dirty.
L. 1.
Very good service, amazing waiters and yummy food, highly recommend
I. S.
Friendly staff, great setting and good food.

Went to Bills for dinner on a quiet Tuesday night. The food is pretty good but the menu could do with a refresh, it feels a while since it changed. Slow service though, it took about 20mins from asking for the bill to actually paying it. In fact I had to leave our table and find our waitress.
A. d. S.
Just called into Bill's for a drink looks good.
T. T.
Excellent food and menu options they've got. Staff is friendly and prompt for help. Be aware that on a colder/windy day you get a table in a cosy/warmer corner as some of the tables will receive air leaks from the roof which could be a little uncomfortable to sit and food can cold fast. Maybe its to do with the old building where its located. They also have a little shop where they sell some nice home-made style sauces, teas and gravy options. Overall, worth a visit.
A. W.
A really lovely place. It was my father's birthday and they covered the table with glitter and put a candle in his pudding without us even asking. The staff where really really nice and the food was super yummy too. Just a lovely place.
S.
In and seated quickly. Was a large group of 12 of us. Food was pre-ordered online, however some of the items were no longer available and had to be switched, even though pre order was 3 days before.
Few drinks were pre ordered through their website also, but had to be requested, they weren't automatic.
2 Hours after sitting down, the next group were entering the room, we had nowhere to finish our drinks and so had to just leave.
1 absolutely fabulous member of staff dealing with our group, whom we thanked upon departure.
Wasnt able to check our bill to ensure correct, was just told final amount and handed card machine as they wanted us out to accommodate next booking. Then had to request an itemised receipt.
Was a lovely meal, will return. Just seemed a little disjointed at times.
Would recommend for a large group, just ensure you tell them you'll be there a while.
E. D.
Went to Bills for our Christmas party, a group of 20 and we couldn’t have asked for anything better. Staff were friendly and attentive. All food came out at same time and was lovely. They did excellently with special requests from some guests. A very happy Christmas meal.
A. W.
A nice place with decent food. I had one of their special christmas burgers that although slightly above the average price was definitely worth every penny. The burger was a good size and was topped with bacon and cheese and came with crunchy chips. Because of how busy it was at the time the only let down was that we were placed close to the door, resulting in a odd cold breeze as people came and went. Overall though, a good experience.
A. D.
Food was great, service was good. Only lacked in their ability to get us all seated when we'd pre booked a table but we understand this to be miscommunication internally. I rarely 5* an establishment so the 4* marks what was ultimately a great afternoon in Bill's.
E. D.
The food was great and the service was fantastic!! Would come again!!
A. L.
Service was quick, food and drink delicious. Facilities clean and well maintained. Lovely decor, makes for a good place to bring someone for a special occasion.
A. G.
It's good, not much to rave about. Bits were cold but all round okay meal
S. M.
Gets very busy and staff often struggle to keep track of who came in when. When we visited our table for 4 was given to a group of two so we waited even longer! Breakfasts are good and service is generally friendly. Upstairs is better than down.
S. B.
Bustling & busy, but well staffed. Allergen menus available. Booking recommended, or you can wait in a queue for a table. Fish pie was fresh and tasty, as was the macaroni cheese with bacon.
J. D.
Bill’s was recently renovated and we’ve been invited to the reopening event ! I didn’t have a night as good as this one for a while ! Lovely staff lovely service a lot of vegan option we’ve been taking care of very well ! Megan and Kate have been very nice all evening with us ! Definitely recommend Bill’s very nice venue and the menu is looking very promising and tasty ☺️
M. T.
The food is very very nice and quirky although the service was a little slow. Lovely decor and atmosphere though. I'd like to go back
B. S.
One of the better chains in Reading. Best brunch menu and always really good with kids. Attentive staff, helpful and kind. We'll cooked food. Nice location.
S. L.
Nice setting, good food, great staff
a. p.
Lovely meeting spot for a snack or breakfast, does have a comprehensive menu if you wanted more. Great vibe and friendly staff. A bit noisy but hey goes with the vibe. Prices a bit above average but not expensive.
M. T.
Good atmosphere and great for a date but avoid if you are a large group.
The food was tasty and well cooked but portion sizes are small and as such I would say overpriced for what you get.
I don't have a big appetite but after a starter and main course I was still hungry.
I was part of a large group and as such had pre-ordered from the online menu.
It still took an hour for our starters to arrive and some had to change their orders because the menu on-line was OUT OF DATE.
It could have been much better.
W. P.
Great vibe, friendly atmosphere and totally love this place. The revamp is totally super cool and always loved the decor however, I think the menu doesn't have a wider selection and It's quite pricey for something really simple
C. H.
The pancakes with fruit had minimal fruit and a minimal amount of syrup already added, very dry, had to ask for a jug to add my own. The fresh orange juice was piled high with ice. Felt like more emphasis was put on the staff saying the right thing than having actual good knowledge and good food.
C. B. B.
I lived in reading for several years until 2015 and went very often to bill's restaurant. Today, this is still probably the best place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Made with love and very delicious!!! Could not ask for anything better.
However, as it is well known you need to be lucky to get a table here. I always loved to sit outside in summer or upstairs. Very cosy and great service! Thanks for many great times!
J. S.
Not sure on the food really. It was adequate but not for the price. Maybe it was tempered by the service charge which was added and not being told when I also tipped, effectively adding 30% to the overall bill.
D. C.
Bill's is always great. The food is good quality and very tasty. They have a lot of choice too. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I come here for lunch and dinner with the family and also meet clients for lunch. Recommended
G. R.
Pleasant service, good menu but got the wrong bill! Sloppy on both our parts.
A. &. J. S.
Good food and service could with a bit more on the menu.
P. A.
Had the 3 course set menu for lunch. Mushrooms on toast, gnocchi and pancakes with cinnamon syrup and ice cream. All for £14.95. Watermelon, peach and raspberry juice. All very nice. Mushrooms and the juice were the standouts for me. Very attentive service. We sat upstairs and it was a bit cold. Brrrr.
J. G.
Bill's is a great place to eat. Really good food and a busy atmosphere make for a really good experience. Can get busy, so book or turn up early. Serves breakfast until 1pm on Saturdays and Sundays, the vegetarian option is excellent and not at all what you would expect from a cooked breakfast.
B. B.
1st visit today at lunchtime. Sooo good an experience. Customer service spot on ... as crazy full but well looked after... shown to bar to wait for table kept informed of progress and before long shown to table. Delightful menu and food lush. Was told recently closed for refurb worth a visit just got the decor.
Remember to book next time 😊
A. D.
Nice breakfast and a lovely location. Very busy.
R. O.
Lovely outdoor area and lovely staff!
S. D.
Bill is a chain and you sort of know what to expect. I went there for something different, i.e. a Sunday morning breakfast, and enjoyed it thoroughly. My eggs Royal where fantastic and the service very warm, fast and professional. The atmosphere and décor of the place is remarkable.
J. P.
Staff friendly but food not brilliant. In my opinion it's not as good as it has been previously but still quite expensive. Lovely setting though especially for summer alfresco dining 😎. I had baked salmon from the weekly rotating menu. It was.. ok.
N. G.
Good food & service. Could use a touch more of seasoning in my opinion. Generous portions, and very reasonably priced. Attentive servers. Beautiful morning light & ambience. Well decorated and facing picturesque church. Would definitely come again.
D. B.
Very busy the night I visited and got plonked on the end of a table with another couple, rather than wait for a table of my own.
The staff were stretched but the food came reasonably quickly. Took a while to get the waiters attention to get the bill and when it arrived it had the other couple's food on it! Quickly sorted though.
J. D.
It is like stepping into another world! I forgot I was still in Reading! Awesome decòr, excellent service and delicious food, and to top it off, very affordable. Highly recommend!
U. A.
Food was very nice but the service was so slow and we had to ask multiple times for waiters to come take our order it get the bill etc, staff seemed very casual and relaxed and overall a disappointment
A. K.
Best steak I had for a loooong time. Recommending it to everyone who is after a lovely meal out. They're also dog friendly, actually the dog got served first. Outside seating is perfect too
C. E. -. G.
A very busy and buzzy place at the weekend - great atmosphere
However, they are a victim of their own success, with waits of 30 to 40 minutes for even simple food being common, and when the food arrives, it is cold.
We will not be going back during the weekend - an expensive disappointment.
c.
Great food, let down by slow service. The staff seemed to just hang around the till and not keen on serving customers. Also we asked for our child’s main to be served with our starters, this didn’t happen and our child was served last.
L. L.
amazing staff, great decor, fantastic food
M. M.
Bills is amazing. Nice food. Friendly staff
L. C.
I absolutely love this place, I've ordered home delivery for dinner twice and have just come to the restaurant for the first time for breakfast and I couldn't adore it more. The staff are lovely and very friendly and there's a cosy but roomy feeling to the place. If you get a chance, I'd seriously recommend giving this place a visit.

Great food service and atmosphere. We had a great night. Prawns not cooked properly still blue swapped them out without question.
R. B.
Food was excellent, perfectly fair pricing. I feel we got unlucky on the day because the service was abysmal. Horribly slow and forgetful. We would recommend the lemon meringue.
A. B.
Bills is Bills. The food is good quality every time you go, not 5 star but a solid 4
C. T. H.
Slow service but very friendly staff and lovely setting.

Had Bill's Vegetarian Breakfast w Green Smoothie. Just after 8am it was ready in no time. Tasted well. Nice rural atmosphere. Also had good dinner. Cozy, swift and good meal. Good place for digital nomads as well.
W. L.
I want to like Bills, really I do, however it's style over content for me I'm afraid. My wife and I have been 4 or 5 times now (and had different dishes on each occasion) and the vibe is lovely, I just find the food very bland and average. That said, they are always very busy so it may just be my expectations.
T. S.
Great food and sitting outside feels like a holiday :0)
L. M.
I'd heard a lot of good stuff about Bill's, so I was, I have to say, a little disappointed when I arrived. My theory is that it's more girl-friendly than guy-friendly; the portions are really small, though the quality of the food is good. The whole place is kind of kitschy, with chalkboard witticisms, while decor and crockery is tatty and worn, to give the impression that you're at an old friend's house.
People may like this sort of thing, and the service is really good, while the food is decent, but ultimately, I don't feel I need to pay a lot of money for a 'worn out' look. I'm not surprised that the ratio of women to men was 2:1.
R. P.
First visit. Not the cheapest, but food was good. Excellent meat dishes. Visited on a Monday so not busy, but nice atmosphere and good service. Much bigger than I expected from the outside.
J. M.
Nice surroundings to eat inside
C. S.
I really like the Bills chain restaraunts. This one is across from a church and a cute little park. I ordered the buttermilk chicken burger for dinner. The sweet potato potato fries were amazing, unfortuantely the burger was a bit disappointing. Overcooked chicken and no real flavour. The dessert was amazing!
S. P.
Just got back from a very nice evening at Bill's celebrating my birthday.
Although there were issues with the temperature of a main course we felt the staff dealt with it very appropriately. Everyone makes mistakes; its how you deal with it and how you subsequently treat the customers that matters.
Thanks Bill's we will continue to recommend you
J. G.
Really big Bill's, nothing like the original in Lewis, but it does a good breakfast and had enough on the menu to want to return for another visit. Quality of food and drink was good and service was attentive but not too much.
M. H.
I love the food and the pancakes are beautiful! And I love the decor!!!
O. A.
Best Breakfast Spot in Reading. Food is amazing, service is quick and staff are friendly. Can't fault the place.
Does get busy during the weekend so make sure to book in advance if it is a large group.
M. O.
Busy, friendly, big portions and a good kids menu
M. W.
Bills definitely suffer from a lack of consistency, they can be very hit or miss. I tend to find the Reading branch a miss and somewhat underwhelming. I went to the one in Marlow a few months ago and had a great meal, again the Bills in Brighton where I live was a little underwhelming when I tried it out.
T. J.
Tasty food, interesting interiors with nice outdoors (providing its nice &sunny outside :)

Good food but over priced for what it is!! Drink prices are way to high!! Was an ok experience!

This is a great place for more traditional English cuisine. On a menu with quite a bit of choice already, the cumberland sausages in honey and mustard are pretty special. It has a great atmosphere and is buzzing most evenings.
T. J.
Always good service here, the menu is reduced a little from previously with more chicken and vegetarian dishes to chose from. Lovely outdoor seating, pleasant ambience.
A. S.
Really nice food. Service is ok. Seating and tables are uncomfortable, cramped and a bit awkward, and the whole building is excessively noisy. The tables are crammed in, except upstairs. Can be busy at times, and the area they direct you to wait is very awkward.
D. C.
Good traditional British fare, healthy choices, a little something for everyone. Beautiful location in an historic building next to an historic church with outdoor seating. Won't disappoint.
A. R.
Good place to eat. Delicious food, friendly staff and convenient location. A bit busy at times so you might have to wait longer for your food. Pretty normal I guess.

Really lovely breakfast. Always delicious food. The children love the pancakes. Very friendly staff. Thank you

Very nice picked the best day, food was free and paid for drinks. Promotional day, opens properly tomorrow after refurbishment. Everything was very good especially the bill.

Great food and service. 👍

Good coffee. Great for families. Always had good service. We go early so pretty empty. Flexible with menus. Wish they would remove service charge.

Went to Bill's last night with a friend (17 July). I was really looking forward to going and was pleased to be able to walk in without booking. Sadly the experience did not live up to my expectations.
We just had olives to start, which to be honest were the worst I have ever tried to eat. Not sure if they were some trendy variety but we both found them so salty we couldnt even eat the small bowl we ordered.
For main I had the "Bill's Hamburger" which was sadly mediocre. Not sure what I expected from their signature burger, but a dry burger with a plain bun, two pieces of lettuce and a slice of tomatoe wasn't it. My colleague ordered two starters as a main, the "avocado and bacon salad" and the "fresh crispy squid". Sadly both these were mediocre at best and my friend couldn't finish either.
Putting the experience down to bad luck we gave the waiter who cleared our uneaten dishes from the table some feedback to the inevitable "did you enjoy your meal" but then shortly after got challenged by the waitress who had served us throughout the evening who apparently had just been scolded by her manager.
To top off the evening I was plesantly suprised to see the "optional" 10% service charge hadn't been added to our bill, assuming the manager had reflected on our feedback. I was somewhat supprised when having paid in cash the waitress took the 10% anyway and only gave me change less the "optional" charge.
Overall I was disappointed that the experience didn't live up to the hype and even more disappointed with the service and bare face cheek of the "not really optional" service charge.
j. m.
Very poor value. Loud music which they did turn down after we asked and then we noticed the volume increasing slowly.Pleasant staff but,Oh Dear, the food. We ordered a Bacon,Avocado,Crouton salad. £8.50 for a dessert bowl of green leaves 1/2 an avocado and about 7 croutons. It is NOT value for money.
T. S.
Excellent food and great service.
l. c.
Nice environment, food ok
N. S.
Great food, friendly and prompt service. The crab cakes with poached eggs were particularly delicious.
T. C.
Generally a very good meal, lovely location and great staff. Does tend to be extremely busy so recommend booking in advance. Thoroughly recommended the breakfast menu.
E. A.
We liked the Thai chicken curry, but our request to use less chilli was ignored. We asked for ketchup and this was ignored as well. Overall I think it's a bit overpriced. It is a bit cold inside.
M. G. C.
I go there everytime I can, is a beautiful place with delicious food (I love the breakfast) and amazing people like Robert. Will go again.
D. B.
Bill's is the kind of place you'd take your Mum for lunch. The food is good, however, it comes in what I will loosely describe as "lady" portions. If you're a red-blooded male, forget about it - you are simply not going to fill yourself up. I had a starter and the fish pie (which was basically mashed potato with a bit of salmon for flavouring) and I still walked out hungry. For £25, not good.
M. R.
Food was lovely but the service was a bit slow. We waited 20 for someone to ask us if we wanted a drink.
K. O.
Had a lovely vegan duck and coconut rice dish and a very fancy drink w/ fresh whole raspberries! Cute atmosphere, very rustic.
D. F.
Problems with air con to cold! Very noisy but staff very welcoming and service is good. Charged for peppercorn sauce which didn't appear and given bag of sweets as a substitute?
S. M.
Good atmosphere, great food and quick service even at a busy time. Thoroughly enjoyed my lunch
A. C.
Ran out of certain drinks early on a Saturday night. No forward planning. Waited ages to order and then again for meals to come. When the food did come it was above average. Not in a hurry to eat there again.

Great food, great service and seem to be managing well during these covid times. Am a regular here..

We've only been there for breakfast but wow what a great breakfast they have. We'll have to try dinner soon there and it has always been a great service.

I am amazed at the bad reviews for Bills. I go here regularly and have always been pleasantly suprised at what is good fresh food they serve. Lets be clear this is not an egon ronay star establishment, but most certainly several levels above the many surrounding restaurants. Indeed this is one of the few places that I recommend to others as being of a consistently high standard.

Great set menu for lunch. Steaks are a must-try. Garlic prawns were also good but the Shepherd's Pie takes the cake.

Food was perfect, staff are always so friendly. All round great experience!

Meal was tasty, the only complaint is regarding my steak, which was a bit overcooked (I can blame it on having too many customers). Otherwise great service and very nice atmosphere.
A. N.
Good menu and atmosphere, however the tables are cramped in some places causing it to feel a little overwhelming, especially when the waiters even find it hard to move between tables! Apart from that, a great place and would recommend!

Went to Bill's reading today for 3 course lunch menu, sweet potato and ginger soup was amazing main course of fish goujons not so nice as was overcooked also chips very dry, told waitresses, a manager then came over and we had meals free of charge, staff were apologetic and very helpful wouldn't stop me returning
C. P.
Lovely hot food, friendly staff and a good atmosphere.
P. K.
Great breakfasts here at a good price. Sausages were tiny though! A 10% optional gratuity is automatically applied to the bill, which is annoying
S. N.
I had an amazing vegan dish here. I have tried their mains before and found them to be average. But they had lots of vegan options and my starter and main were delicious
A. G.
Lovely indoor & outdoor setting. Great choice of food & drinks. Breakfast is lovely. Previously had a Xmas party here too & wasn't dissappointed. Borderline expensive.

Best breakfast I've ever had: packed eggs avacado and hummus on brown bread. Very special! Great service too!

Another good breakfast. Pity the coffee isn't served a little hotter. I always order hot milk but it's still not hot enough for me. Nice taste though.

The food was excellent and the staff were so pleasant and helpful. Would difinately recommend and visit again.

Great breakfast spot. Eggs Benedict were great and the hollandaise was tasty but not overpowering. Friendly and polite start to boot.
B. H.
I've found this place excellent for food and service. I had Eggs Benedict and sourdough toast for breakfast, which was cooked to perfection and served quickly.

Fabulous visit great service wonderful food and a warm welcome

This was a fab location for an informal business lunch. This part of Reading is stunning in the summer. Food and service could not have been better.
I will be back.

Very good for breakfasts. It's open from early until late. Lunch and dinner can be busy at peak times. Healthy food options and they change the menu on a regular basis.
J. P.
Great quality food and service. Portions on the small side. A 10% optional service charge is added to the bill, I prefer to decide for myself how much I would like to pay.

Breakfast at Bills in Reading was to die for. We were greeted with a smile as soon as we entered. Service with a smile from start to finish. Highly recommend
T. B.
Great food, service was a little slow (to take order) food arrived promptly though.
R. M.
Great food and even better service from Stuart! We're off to Rewind Festival today and he took the time to look up train times for us while we were finishing up 👍
C. M.
One of my favourite places in Reading, the staff are always friendly, the food is always good. Not always the very highest quality but decent and filling and good variety.

It's Bill's, so it's like all the others... Good gluten free selection, funky surroundings and reasonable food. The veggie sharing platter was particularly good
V. P.
Looks amazing, attention to detail throughout our meal was excellent, decor and staff added the finishing touch, enjoyed it so much.
K. M.
Great place for dinner and brunch. The only reason it's not a 5 is last time I went the breakfast was a little off the mark, blandish and nothing special (first time in about 5 visits) so 4 stars

PROS:
- big place (a lot of tables to sit: outside, inside - downstairs and upstairs),
- long opening times (see attached picture),
- quaint furnishing and tableware (I do have slight doubts about those old teapots),
- reasonably fast service (or at least that was our experience inside, next time we'll try outside),
- nice breakfast menu with fairly good food (which makes me want to come and try at other times too),
- scones were nice and warm, went great with their jams,
- open kitchen and counter area so you can observe what's going on,
- lovely wall full of Bill's items to buy,
- they offer blankets if you are seating outside and it's cold,
- nice (quieter) location.
CONS:
- *VERY* busy on the weekends (make a reservation or be ready to wait),
- Victoria Sponge was a disappointment (very dry and cream layer tasted more like buttercream),
- Eggs Royale had too much lemon on the smoked salmon and completely overpowered the whole thing,
- gratuity is *NOT* optional (if we like your services we will be happy to give you a tip, but don't force it on me, for whatever reason),
- on the pricier side (small portions for the price).

Lovely food, great atmosphere even though dessert took forever to come out.

Attentive service, delicious smashed avocado eggs for breakfast. Cappuccino was TINY for the price. Better value getting a Latte or Tea.
M. A.
A bit frenetic but better upstairs. We had reasonable afternoon tea and cakes but despite several attempts they failed to provide the requested Earl Grey tea.

Food was excellent. Waitress was lovely and the decor is pretty cool.

Christmas menu is good but we spent more than 2 hour over there due to really slow services. Staff is really nice though.

Very pretty and nice atmosphere. Excellent salads. Sirloin steak a bit overcooked made it a bit hard to chew.
D. S.
The service and staff were friendly and kept to the covid checks .
Food was very good werth the money
K. J.
Really great place, well looked after...thumbs up!
R. M.
Such a great spot for having a meal or a drink outside. If you're lucky you can even catch a bit of evening sun. One of staff who served us was lovely!
J. N.
Nice lunch time place, with outdoor seating which is pleasant on a summer's day. Lunch meals there have all been nice, if on the small size, which is, I suppose fine for lunch.
k. g.
The food is always great and the staff were really professional and patient especially as there was over 20 of us.
E. C.
Excellent.
I had the pan fried sea bass on the lunch menu and it was delicious.
Service was good and friendly.
S.
Quite expensive for the breakfast plates and what it offers. Quite dissapointed for changing their bbq rack recipe completely. Welcoming people at the door different story with some waiters.
H. b.
Food was awesome. But services was a little slow, staff were lovely I would still go again as the food was worth waiting for
J. G.
Always a great service and superb food. So nice to know there is at least one place one can rely on. Thank you!!
D. M.
Great food servers don't seem to talk to each other so ended up with 3 different people asking about the bill at the end of our meal.
C. R.
Sandra looked after us outside and god was it good, get the green smoothie and the veggie breakfast was brilliant, they were super busy but we didn't wait long and good value!

Fantastic food, and brilliant service. They went all out to make my son feel special on his 9th birthday.
B. N.
Lovely cosy restaurant that feels more like Europe and less like central Reading. Delicious coffee is perfect for winter mornings
M. M.
Food was nice. Very busy for breakfast. Shutting from 11th Nov for a month for refurb.
D. M.
Went for a Christmas party.. The staff are very friendly and interact well with the customers. It's a nice airy place and a pleasant place to eat.

Always enjoy my visit to Bill's, and don't mind paying a few £s more for good food and service. Highly recommended, especially for breakfast.
M. K.
It nice and well presented clean and bright place to enjoy you breakfast friendly and excellent service .
J. W.
Good food, only one tea bag in a pot of tea though that cost me £3... Bring your own PG tips
M. V.
