a. s.Father’s Day roast dinner, booked last minute. The roast beef meal was really good, beef tender and good flavour, fresh vegetables and sumptuous Yorkshire puddings. Very roomy, comfortable pub restaurant with a warm welcome. We were served by Kim who looked after us well and gave ‘dad’ a pressie of £5 voucher to use on next visit. Will definitely go back.
A. P.We had a family meal here after my daughters graduation. The food was really good and cocktail my daughter had was apparently one of the best she has had. The wine on special on wine list was also really nice and a different choice then the norm.
However what really made our evening was the excellent service we received from the bar manager Kim, she was very helpful but also extremely funny making out evening full of laughter. Kim is a huge asset to this establishment.
I would definitely eat here again.

e. b.FANTASTIC PLACE - had my husbands 50th birthday party here on Saturday and I cannot fault the team. They were absolutely amazing. The food for 35 guests was amazing and the service was excellent. The team pulled out all the stops and we have the best day. Everyone thoroughly annoyed themselves and we did not want for anything. I would highly recommend the pub and team for events or for a meal out!!!! Thank you all so much for making our day so special. Everyone said how impressed they were!

Y. H.Came here for the first time for a family Christmas gathering. Well impressed, the portions were very generous, staff friendly and beautifully decorated for Christmas and reasonably priced. Plenty of free parking. Only issue was we had pre ordered and a couple of items off the main menu were discontinued which was a disappointment. Not a large menu only thing now missing is a pasta dish. Would certainly return.

A. M.We used to walk over the fields to this pub when the children were small and it was always called the father xmas pub, they loved it. More recently we walked over with the dog and always got a very warm welcome from the landlady. However she left and the pub has changed hands a couple of times recently. My wife visited under the previous management and was very disappointed. Yesterday we tried again and we were pleasantly surprised. With covid restrictions the pub wasn't as full as normal but enough for an atmosphere. Covid safe and friendly efficient staff. Food was definitely a highlight, with a lovely gammon, burger was good as well as the fishcakes and houlumi burger. Back on form again, well done
K. H.Lovely atmosphere, staff, drinks and delicious food. The Sausage and mash was so tasty and the portion size was very generous. The sticky toffee pudding and custard finished the meal off perfectly.
The highlight though was Rodney, Debbie and Nerys - the landlady's gorgeous dogs!

F.Out of the starters and mains that we had, the most memorable dish was definitely the potted crab and crayfish, which went superbly with the tarragon butter and crostini. For desserts, we had the banoffee waffle, and our dog was more than pleased with her apple and strawberry doggie ice cream.

Staff were great and the pub had a lovely atmosphere. Only downside was the temperature of the ladies loos, really cold in there and needs a heater.

S. K.Great pub. Enjoyed a wonderful meal here - our table had the steak, fish & chips, pie, Ceasars sandwich & a sourdough pizza. All were excellent & everyone cleared their plates. We mainoy had the same desert (triple chocolate brownie) which was probably one of the best deserts I've ever had!! Staff all very friendly, toilets were spotless & the pub is dog friendly 😀. Plenty of seating inside and out although probably best to book to ensure you get a table as I imagine it gets very busy. My parents are regulars but we will definitely be going again.

S. P.Chris contacted me directly after I put a negative review up, to say he was very sorry that the meal was not up to the accepted standard. After visiting again today I can say the meal was very good, we had the curry special, it was very well cooked and served with flatbread, onion bhajis and cucumber & onion salad. The staff were particularly friendly and very helpful. We will certainly visit again.

D. W.Current holder of most dog friendly pub and it certainly is. Our dogs were made to feel extremely welcome. Plenty bowls of water on offer and free doggy treats. Also a paddling pool for dogs which is great in this hot weather. We enjoyed a lovely lunch.....food excellent. Definitely worth a visit.

Really good service better as usual great food with some lovely options on the menu. Spot on portions and price clean tidy buzzing local atmosphere but not loud. Well done the Fox and Hounds is back!!

P. G.Staff were really friendly and helpful, atmosphere was great. Generally food was excellent. Others in our group were very impressed. The reason I gave it 4 not 5 was my Gluten free option. The fish and chips was marked as a possible GF option, which meant they just cooked the fish without the batter. Cooked like this, the fish was a little dry and weedy. The chips and everything else was great. Overall I'd recommend this place and will certainly go back.

S. W.The food in this pub is orientated to identify allergies. Menus are clearly marked, there is a very good gluten free range, and when I ordered the barstaff checked if we had any allergies before putting the order through.
Not only does the pub have great food, but it is very dog friendly. We recently visited in a heatwave, and they had a range of 'icecream' produced especially for dogs, which was being enjoyed by many pets around the garden.

J. E.This was the first visit to the Fox and Hounds, it was a 42 year reunion between myself and my cousin. We sat down to eat at 13.20 and left our table at 11.55! It was the most amazing time, the food was great, we are both vegetarian and there was choice! We weren't rushed at all and the Manager and her team were fantastic, they are all friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We stayed for an Elvis tribute night which was also great. The whole atmosphere of the pub and restaurant was amazing and we both feel extremely lucky to have chosen such a wonderful place with wonderful people to celebrate our reunion. I came just after a UK had a flurry of heavy snow but despite this the inside of the pub was warm and cosy with an open log fire.
The pub is spacious and they do food, lots of seating inside and they have a pool table.

For example: free range grilled chicken Caesar salad with crispy fried pancetta and parmesan shavings actually came as pre-cooked chicken pieces as per supermarket pack, limp pieces of back bacon and grated parmesan (from a packet one suspects). At least the anchovies were as advertised!

D. J.Ordering a caprese salad is always a bit of a risk. Here the traditional Italian dish, beloved by millions
of people, has been creatively reinterpreted by some of the finest chefs in Theale. Not afraid are they of making bold expressions at the very limits of their genius. Not constrained are they by weird foreign traditions, pushing as they are at the boundaries that limit and restrict our nutritional freedom. Would recommend ordering with added chips and ketchup.
