Very nice food ,good choice on the menu, very professional service.

The restaurant was really busy and I can understand why. The food, atmosphere and service was all excellent. I'm not an expert in Chinese cuisine, but this felt completely genuine to me. My only regret is that I haven't eaten here sooner 🙂👌

I was introduced to Kei’s quite a few years ago by a work colleague. It was great back then and it’s still great now. I returned last night with my family and that was probably my 10th visit.
The big upside of Kei’s is that you never leave hungry. You can eat as many prawn crackers, starters, middle and main courses as you like, with all being freshly prepared to order. This restaurant is absolutely not comparable to ghastly buffets, which serve up piles of tepid mass-produced food using ingredients of a questionable quality.
The bulk of the dishes on offer are Chinese but there are plenty of Thai dishes and some Singaporean and Malaysian too. There are just too many dishes to name as favourites, but the chicken and cashew nut and crispy chilli beef are definitely towards the top of the list. The satay chicken to start is also a winner!
The staff here are most attentive and very friendly, even when rushed off their feet delivering orders to a packed restaurant. We were repeatedly asked about the enjoyment of our meals and table water was always replenished without asking.
The price per head for dinner is £19.50 and the restaurant does apply a 10% service charge, which I did not object to. The service was faultless. Whilst not a cheap meal, the experience was worth every penny.
Drinks and desserts come at extra cost. But after so much great savoury food, I had no room for something sweet.
Just a couple of criticisms - the website booking tool doesn’t work. I called on the day of my visit as I hadn’t received any confirmation. I was told there was a problem with the website and that I should call to book a table in future. The website also shows the cost of dinner to be £18.50. The difference is negligible but the information is still wrong. The website needs updating to avoid dissatisfaction from future customers.
All in all though, a superb dining experience.

We have used Keis for many years and have always enjoyed the food. However, used them last week for take away and found portions much smaller and the price has rocketed.
This is very sad. Think it’s time to go elsewhere
H.
Incredible food, great service and large selection to choose from in the buffet style cooked to order menu. Highy recommend the pork ribs to start and spring rolls. The Thai roasted pork and lemon chicken dishes were also amazing too in the mains. Their duck pancakes in the middle course were sublime. Will definitely be coming back!
S. B.
Lovely food but felt we were being rushed tonight which wasn't a great experience ...
P. C.
12 years since I last visited Keis. Sadly the owner has died since but the standard of food and service is still very high yet competitively priced. All you can eat on Sunday evenings but orders limited to ensure you don't have more than you can manage (no doggy bags!)
S. P.
Had such a lovely evening and the range of vegan Chinese food on the menu was great; the service was amazing and they make you feel so welcome. Highly recommend and I’ll definitely be going back !
A. A.
Good quality and value . Portions are generous also but avoid the pad Thai which is overly sweet and not authentic

Last night was the fourth time I have been to kei's. I have never left disappointed. The food is fantastic, I have tried a large array of their menu and it's all been great. They offer an all you can eat menu, rather than buffet style. It's great that each dish is cooked to order. The staff are very friendly and incredibly attentive. Also they are helpful if you are unsure what to order. The wine is very good they also have a large selection of spirits. There is only a few beers on their menu which could be a drawback for some, but they are good beers. The restaurant has a nice relaxing vibe. All in all its a lovely little place well worth a visit.

Fantastic food. First time going and we went on my partners birthday that coincided with Mother's day. It was heaving but we only waited 5 minutes (if that) for them to have a table ready for us and service was impeccable. The obvious manager/owner really rallied the team and there were lots of smiles even though it was clearly such a busy day! Thank you Kei's we will be back again for my birthday in June 🥰
C.
Delicious food! Portions sizes were more than satisfactory. Very lovely staff and fast service. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back soon!

I would highly recommend this restaurant. We arrived as a large party, 22 including children celebrating my dad's 80th birthday. The staff took such good care of us. The food arrived as requested with no one waiting and no one forgotten. Beautifully presented food and so delicious.
R. C.
First time we went and on our wedding anniversary. The food was just amazing, the staff were great. We didn't book but because we were early in the evening they managed to accommodate us. We're definitely going to go again and will recommend to our friends and family.

Did the buffet option on Sunday for my daughters birthday. Tried out things wouldn’t normally try and was very pleased with some of the choice. The staff are great and very attentive making sure drinks and courses were replenished as required. My daughter loved it

Spent a long day at an exhibition, did not fancy cooking. We arrived at 5.45pm, kitchen opened at 6pm. Was an all you can eat buffet for 19.50 each. We ordered four different starters: Dry ribs, Crispy seaweed, Prawn toast, fried squid. We had soup with the starters. The middle course, we went for lamb, lettuce, plum sauce, cucumber and spring onion. Main course,Lamb in satay, beef in black bean, king prawn in szechuan, lemon chicken. The service was very attentive, the food was hot( lots of sizzling dishes), well cooked, delicious and well presented. The coffee and desserts were extra and there is a 10% service charge. Even so the bill was not too expensive.
T. C.
Great food. Had the vegetarian tonight. It was delicious and very tasty.
L. W.
Visited with 4 girl friends last night and we had a wonderful time. The waiters and waitresses are super efficient, the food was excellent, fast and piping hot. Service was absolutely brilliant. Well done!
A. A.
Went for the Eat as much as you like offer. This is not the usual buffet style all you can eat, but instead the staff bring a selection of starters and then mains to the table. You are free to decide which has items they bring out from the menu, or you can let them decide for you; as it's all you can eat, you can request more of any item.
The food was good and the portions were of a good size.
A. R.
5* Chinese restaurant. The food is delicious. Cannot fault it. The waiters and waitresses looked after us so well. Friendly, professional and polite. Highly recommend a visit or two. Takeaway menu available.
K. A.
We booked for lunch at very short notice and managed to get a table. It was lovely to be back in one if our favourite restaurants. Food was delicious and service excellent.
P. B.
Nice salt chilli ribs and special fried rice.
This is an update. I have been back a couple of times for a takeaway whilst on business and I think the quality of the food has gone downhill.
I haven't been that impressed with my last two orders. The chicken chow mein and chicken and green peppers in black bean sauce wasn't very nice and I left it all.
Strange. It has been good in the past.
Perhaps I am comparing it to my local one back home in Bexley, which is fantastic.
The special fried rice hardly had any special in it at all. I might try again when next away on business and if it's improved, I'll update again.

So good but could not eat anymore. Excellant buffet menu for 4, good variety, delicatly presented, freshly cooked and unusually is delivered to the table. Hot plates too! Service is excellant with personal attention from the owner. Very clean and tidy. Easy parking in a very nice area. And it won't break the bank. Allow £25 per head and have a good feast. Be aware they will ask if you would like some more!!!!!!
S. M.
The staff were incredibly attentive even amidst a very busy evening. The owners were incredibly friendly, checking on us frequently. Food was served swiftly, piping hot and of course tasted delicious! I have definitely found my new favourite Chinese restaurant, thank you for a wonderful evening!
D. N.
Delicate Chinese food nicely cooked with very attentive service, in a party of six you can not order individually as they will only serve five items at once, you can then order more but they count rice or noodles as part of the five items. For me a different way of eating Chinese.
A. R.
Good food but expensive. I don't like the fact that you specifically ask for a small portion on the all-you-can-eat but they bring you a huge normal sized one anyway. Then the female owner moans because you can't finish and ordered too much.
They say they can't do small portions because the wok is a certain size. I'm still puzzled by that statement.
D.
Reading isn't know to having the best Chinese restaurants which makes this place even more valuable. I personally have to drive 10 minutes to this place despite me having a handful of other Chinese restaurants that deliver to my door. Food is always very good and the inside of the restaurant is very clean which I know is mine and most other people's concern. I've tried way too many Chinese restaurants in Reading and finally found one to settle on.
S. W.
Lovely food, but unfortunately we didn't recieve all of the items on the set menu, brought it up with waitress, but was only offered removal of service charge, didn't have time to argue. Bit disappointed, as manager was really chatty when we arrived.
N. G.
Food was really good, but the portions aren't the biggest. It's quite pricey especially since there is a mandatory "10% optional service charge" being added to your bill.
The service was also not as expected.
J. R.
Excellent takeaway - Saturday night and ready in 5 minutes.
Fabulous sweet and sour king prawns, crispy king prawns with spring onion and chilli dip and crispy chilli shredded beef. Accompanied by vegetable spring rolls, egg fried rice and bean sprouts.
All delicious with super service!
P. R.
Fantastic food and great service. A great place to welcome in the New Year.
Fantastic service from Johnny and Natalie and their staff
M. J.
Excellent food. There really is a difference over the regular stuff you get at a takeaway. Service can be so-so at times especially when busy. A few visits ago the waiter was astounded that we had the cheek to order more starter courses after our duck/pancake course! "Once you have the duck, you cannot go back" was his reasoning! Almost reduced my partner to tears, she really loves the fried squid. Anyhoo, that waiter is gone now!!
I. P.
Always a pleasant time with good food. Staff friendly and helpful.
A. W.
Super food, great range of dishes, plenty to eat adults and kids loved it.
B. o. t. S.
Good service and selection of food but the food is far too sugary.
We used to come here quite often but are last few visits have been less and less enjoyable due to sugary tasting food.
B. G.
Fantastic food, great service (even tho they were very very busy!). Not the cheapest Chinese, but well worth the money. Would highly recommend.
J. T.
Went for a work colleagues birthday, all staff were friendly and polite. The all you can eat is brought to you by staff and they are helpful with individual requests. Food was good, large portions and were happy to bring you more!
S. N.
Great Chinese food. We usually do take away. Can be quite a wait when busy but quality of food worth it. Would be 5* if they delivered!
S. C.
Had takeaway this evening. Was very nice food I would say a bit expensive as I have had better takeaways before which have costed less. But there is a lack of Chinese style restaurants around this area and Woodley and would say this is worth the extra cost comparing to others.
N. H. (.
We've been having Kei's since we moved to the area 4years ago. It's always a high standard but the price reflects that.
If I were to recommend Kei's to anyone I'd be sure to tell them that this isn't your typical western Chinese restaurant. The food is a little more authentic and pretty much every dish is spicy in a "firey" way. It's as if you cooked yourself Chinese takeaway at home with better quality meat and more emphasis on spiciness than normal.
If you want the typical luminescent orange, MSG filled, Hong Kong style sweet and sour dish then this isn't what you're after. If you want Chinese style food of a high standard at a higher price point then Kei's is for you.
A. V.
Excellent Chinese food and the prices are very reasonable. The staff is very friendly and responsive. Theres a lot of choices on the menu and the food is prepared fresh for each order. Lots of vegetarian options too.
A. J.
Excellent food quality. Service good. Few diners and no atmosphere on cold Tuesday in February.
Only one beer type available. Prices are little high.
A. G. G.
We went early so it was still quiet, a plus for me. The food was great and abundant. We took doggy bags and had a full dinner out of them the next day.
M. K.
Really good food and great service. We were a large group and we're looked after very well. The food was tasty and hot! Plenty of parking at the rear.
F. K.
Food OK but overpriced
R. E.
Superb! in my opinion, Kei's is THE best Peking style restaurant in Reading and potentially, the Thames Valley. it is a bit pricey, but it is well worth it as a special occasion destination.
C. T. (. M. T.
Good food and all you can eat cooked to order then served to the table, no need to worry about buffet style issues. Reasonable prices and a free car park just behind.
M. W.
Delicious food. Super very friendly waitresses. We had a lovely fathersday set lunch. Would definitely recommend!
M. B.
Food was good - as always - but we had to wait a while for a table (despite having booked) as they seemed a little confused over our reservation, even though we were able to point to our details in their list of bookings.
A. K.
Often go here and the welcome and food is always great. Service is as fast as you want it to be. The two of us love a good chat and we enjoy not being rushed.
C. G.
Nice food and nice atmosphere. Buffett food to your table. Not many that do this
W. G.
Good is tasty and good quality. Social distancing is good, with clear boundaries. Slightly more expensive than would be expected.
L. M.
Really tasty food, staff were very friendly. They also open for lunch and do really reasonably priced lunch box deals.
D. P.
Food is great, but the service is shocking, rude, forgets half the order then tuts and rolls eyes when remind them, still forgetting some. Have to keep asking when they walk past to serve other customers.
R. U.
If you feel like treating yourself to an upmarket Chinese meal then consider Kei's ... It's more expensive than your regular takeaway, but you get what you pay for ... They even do take away ... Now if only they did delivery ... :)
A. D.
Brilliant food. We were a group of vegetarians and the waitress was very good at explaining what we could have.
S. G.
Kei's is one of the few restaurants we have consistently visited since we moved into the area over 30 years ago and we have never been disappointed!
K. T.
Great place for good food 🙂 Lovely service from staff.
K. L.
Good food and good service. On a week night there is an all you can eat offer, where you order the dishes not buffet style.
T. W.
Such a great place for romantic meals and group bookings alike. Slightly expensive but best food for it's cuisine....staff very attentive...
F. C.
It was ok menu is quite limited and food is adapted to an English taste and therefore not totally authentic I have to be honest and say that personally I would not go back
P. S.
Great food service good!!!
Not been there for some time
Would recommend!!!
J. B.
Fantastic buffet. Choose anything and as much as you like from the menu. Great friendly service and very reasonable.
