Fantastic independent restaurant on the Riverside. A nice alternative to all the chain restaurants it's so close to. They make everything in house from sauce to fudge and ice cream. The decor is a little dated but it feels warm and homely. Food was excellent, fresh and hot. They have a nice range of cuisines on the menu and the dessert choice is better than most so, save room!

My favourite restaurant on this planet. Every item on that menu is world class - flavour, looks, price isn't too bad either. I would highly recommend the scallops for starters, steak for mains, and pannacotta for dessert. But everything else will be good as well. Great service too.

The London Street Brasserie always offers high quality interesting food. It was extremely busy on Bank holiday Monday and the experience was not as good as previous visits. Staff were not very interested in us, and we were in and out of the restaurant very quickly, without anyone really noticing.
N. G.
Food and wine very good. I didn't think the service was as good as usual. Got given the wrong starter and just not as attentive.
Had the 3 course set meal for £45; mushroom risotto balls, then sea bass and lemon tart. All tasted and looked beautiful. Portion size for me was just right but smaller for someone with a bigger appetite.
Overall nice and I would go back

I've not visited LSB for a number of years (covid excluded) so really pleased that I chose it for my partner's birthday lunch. We enjoyed the lovely food and fantastic service from the team, particularly Andrea. Feedback provided about our food was acknowledged. My partner liked his 'happy birthday' decorated plate.Thank you team - we'll be back!

Excellent , Shaun and his team make you very welcome , the food is exceptional as are their great cocktails and wine list . The menu is always changing , I love their Sunday Roasts ! Highly recommended.

A other lovely meal in this restaurant. We have visited many times and never been disappointed. Good variety on the menu and well executed.
Positioned next to the river this place is always a treat. It's pricey but not unreasonable considering the quality. 10% optional service charge which is given to the staff (so not trying to increase to 12.5 or 15% like some restaurants) my only complaints would be that the toilets are quite a way up the stairs which they can't do anything about and I saw nothing dairy free or vegan on the menu.

My son took me here for a late mother's day meal. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left all staff where helpful and very polite. Was seated in a very lovely spot and the table waiting staff are fantastic. The food was outstanding definitely hats of to the kitchen staff.will be returning again.

Always lovely food here, the set menu is good value and there's a great selection of drinks as well. I love sitting outside on the balcony by the river, it's hidden away from the rest of the city centre so is a nice place to have a chilled lunch or dinner.
B. R.
Really amazing food but took too long to come. Got there at 8:30pm, starters came at 9:20pm and main came at 10:30pm- couldn’t have had a pudding if we wanted to because the kitchen shut at 10:30. Amazing food but not worth waiting 2 hours for
J. A.
Loved the food..service was great..we did order roast beef x4 ..on the set menu..missed the bit about £9 per meal surcharge for it.. it was mahoosive and they catered well for.. well done..to still moo-ing.. nice catch up in great surroundings..its a bit of a tardis inside..

First visit after 4th attempt to book. Superb cuisine, excellent service and a satisfying ambience made the whole experience absolutely great. The Margarita cocktail was superb. Starters of duck and one of scallops were amazing. The flavours were so well balanced. Fillet steaks with peppercorn sauce, beautifully tender and cooked to perfection accompanied by dauphinoise potatoes and a green salad. Good pairing of a French and Italian wine. And finally poached pear with a wonderful ice cream. Everything was exquisite although a little bit more than I would normally pay for a "non special event" meal it really was worth it. The menu is also enticing enough to want to go again! Thanks for an unexpected culinary treat. Regards James

Had Sunday lunch there yesterday. It was great, super piece of beef with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding & a great selection of veg. Staff were very helpful & pleasant. We sat out by the canal. I will go back there & would recommend it.

Managed to get in for dinner with a party of 4 as a walk in on a Friday evening, which was good. Had a nice view of the river. Personally think it's the best place to eat in central reading. Been many times, seldom disappointed. Great service, friendly staff and menu interesting enough for multiple visits. Had scallops, Milanese and tarte tatin. Was all lovely. Happily go back anytime.
M. C.
No quite what it used to be, but what it was was amazing. It's still well above average. The decor is looking a little tired, and the, given that the place aspires to be a formal fine dining restaurant, the staff are a but scruffy for their surroundings. That said, they are friendly and professional, and that's all you really need. The food is still very good. It's not a destination restaurant, but it's a good local.

I ("James B") dined here several times over the last few months. Always made extremely welcome by Sean and his excellent team with special mention of Nicola in Reception; exemplary customer service.
The food is consistently delicious, wine & drink selection varied and an evolving, changing menu. A chilled, relaxing atmosphere with a unique location beside the River Kennet.
One of the best restaurants in Reading; a very special place. Very highly recommended.
I. W.
One of the best meals I have had in a very long time. The Halibut was sublime!

Nice friendly restaurant
Definitely go again

St Valentines 14th Feb 2022.
I booked a table for 4 on the 14th my wife, daughter and husband.
The choice of menu was nice but could have been hotter.
The ambience for St Valentines was very poor with no table decor of love.
A dessert wine was ordered but never received, and the total bill was incorrect overall for £65 per head disappointed with the experience.

Nice little independent restaurant serving something "a bit different ".
Expensive (probably overpriced) food was very good, service ok (new waitress was unsure as to what was on the menu, snacking in-between serving customers, and not very attentative) and deco was old and tired. Good food but not the whole package.
V. K.
Wonderful brasserie with amazing food. The black pudding for starters was the best I've ever had, with the nuts and the salad pairing beautifully. The Sunday roast was top notch, and as good as anything you would get in a good gastropub. Duck leg is often neglected, but this Asian style duck with papaya was very nice, and reminiscent of Vietnamese flavours. The fish and chips were also of excellent quality, as well as the desserts which were amazing. The portions are very large, and the set menu is incredible value. Will definitely be back!
A. W.
Fantastic staff and fantastic food!
Thank you for accommodating our booking of 10 people. We had a lovely work lunch.
C. D.
The food was absolutely fantastic, easily the best meal we've ever had in Reading. We made a reservation in the morning for that evening and they were able to accommodate us which was great.
It's on the more expensive side, especially if you have alcohol with your meal, but it's one of those places that's actually worth the price. The portion sizes are great, not too small or big, and service is quick.
c. j.
Amazing service as usual. Went above and beyond for my graduation meal. All the staff were excellent. Would 100% recommend.- the loud girl in green x

London Street Brasserie what an absoltue gem of a place to go an dine, I have booked to dine in for lunch 2 days in advance in case if it is full. From the time entering to the time leaving the staff was absolutely brilliant they made sure we had a pleasant time, the staff looked after us very well. Getting on to the food, I was very surprised with all the elements from the serving to the presentation to the taste each element were outstanding, you can see the below pictures. I can say more than why I have not visited this place before. I would recommend anyone to go there to have a nice beautiful time. Brilliant selection of wines and other drinks. Thank you to all the staff from reception to the dining to the chef's. Will be visiting back again. Such a beautiful inside calm and the team always smiling which gives a nice vibe to the overall experience.

Good food, overpriced, overly casual service
We visited London Street Brasserie for Sunday lunch, were sat in the "ground floor" in the middle of the room. First impressions are that it's a bit like being in someone's front room, kind of small with tables cramped together. Service from the male waiter can be described as quite "bay watch", he did love the attention.
We ordered a glass of champagne each which honestly tasted like Prosecco, despite asking for confirmation. Service from the female waitresses was casual-beyond-friendly (very slap dash and condescending) and really not professional enough for the prices London Street charge. The waiting staff come across as untrained.
Food was good but took a long time to arrive, Sunday Lunch while tasty really wasn't worth £28, these are central London prices.
In summary it's a weird combination of pretty good food, but overpriced, in a slightly odd restaurant (aesthetically) with way-too casual service.
F. T.
Awesome food and great service. The only odd thing was we booked online and could only get an early table. When we get there the place only had a few tables in use and stayed that way all night! Why couldn't we reserve a later table!? Anyway, apart from that it was superb.
C.
We had lunch with my future mother-in-law for my birthday and we really enjoyed the food. We got seated by the window nearby the river which was nice. Service was good. Will definitely go back with my fiancé.
C. F.
Yum, popped in for a birthday treat. The Cornish Oysters were lovely & creamy and the Chenin Blanc was super tasty. Thank you!
C. R.
Andrea was just fantastic and the food, atmosphere everything! By far the best place in reading without a doubt! Thank you for existing!
이. L.
The atmosphere is great but overpriced for Sunday roast at £30
V. P.
It´s been a great experience. The food was delicious, staff were flawless. We had duck breast, filo pastry goat cheese, passion fruit creme brulee and cappuccino panna cota all the courses were delicious and well presenting. Thoroughly recommended.
N. C.
Best oysters ever. Followed by the best food served in Reading. Excellent service and great wines.
R. C.
FSA rating 4/5 as of 10 September 2019. Overhyped, the salmon was only partially cooked and portions were small for the price.
M. M.
Had an amazing Sunday lunch here today. Started with the warm breads which were delicious, starters we both agreed we’re perfect and then blown away by the mains. Even very busy the quality didn’t drop at all, service a bit slow but who wants to rush anyway? Thank you guys 👌
S. C.
Absolutely love this place. Went on NYE, it was a great menu, lovely venue, staff were polite and friendly and the owner even came down to say hello. I'll definitely go again. A must for everyone
A. S.
Great quality, fantastic service. My second visit over 3 years and standards are consistent.
D. C.
Wouldn't change a thing with the food, service or location. One of the best places to eat and easily overlooked by all the other chains around reading. I was recommended the seasonal rabbit, which was top notch. A little on the pricier side since its a michellin recommended establishment, but in this case the extra few £ are definitely worth it.
D. H.
Beautifully cooked food, superb menu and a vast array of wines to choose from. Lovely atmosphere inside and the staff were incredibly warm, friendly and welcoming. It's upmarket without the snobbery you find in such places. Highly recommend.
C. E.
I wouldn’t visit often for the price but I enjoyed the range of food options they had (it’s very good for the price just to be clear). The food was delicious and different from what most other restaurants would offer - I believe. The options were very varied, ie different cuisines on one menu from what I gathered.
D. M.
Staff was very nice and food was great. I had the monkfish with prawns which was different from what I was expecting but still tasty. We had a great view of the river. I would recommend 👌
A. L.
Very tasty food in a lovely old building well decorated in the centre of Reading.
Cetainly nitvmy last visit.
C. H.
Meal with work colleagues. There were lots of us so we had pre-ordered. Took 2 hours to get starters so rest of meal rushed.
S. R.
Wonderful meal, ambiance, and location. I'm so glad we were able to get reservations.
A. S.
Amazing food beautifully presented. Lovely ambience and good service.
Not cheap but a real treat.
H. H.
Always enjoy eating here. Lovely food and staff are so friendly above and beyond to make you feel welcome
W. C.
Lovely place, food was great service excellent. A little pricey but was well worth it.
M. S.
Wonderful food, attentive and knowledgeable staff. Lovely experience. Not the cheapest, but worth it. Thanks!
S. G.
Amazing menu amazing atmosphere and incredible staff. This place have to be on the top of your list in Reading. Really cosy restaurant. Impossible to find a fault here
F. X.
Delicious food and super friendly staffs. Lots of options on the menu. My only complaint is the gravy is a bit plain.
L. W.
Lovely as always. Excellent food & good service.
F. S.
We had a few dishes of off the lunch menu. Very good value for money considering the overall quality of the experience. Undoubtedly a quality establishment.
R. B.
Had the scallops and the venison and this easily reaches the top spot of restaurants i've attended in 2022, and possible 2021.
H. A.
The food was delicious, Starters, main meal and dessert.
K. J. T.
Great atmosphere, friendly service, beautiful riverside outdoor seating. Four stars because food could have had a little more love and oomph but excellent value on the set menu. Would return and will recommend.
M. D.
Fish & Chips.. suggestion.. Mushy peas from the tin.. is simply not acceptable. Fresh one with mint takes 5 min to make. Good italian dishes and grear selection of wines. Nevertheless portions small and prices high hence 3 stars
M. B.
Great food, easy location and good selection of wine. Lunch setenu for £17 is amazing value.
G. M. A.
My favourite place to eat. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Nothing is too much trouble. Food always excellent and well worth the money. Highly recommended.
J. S.
Great service & food, an unhurried lunch for a birthday celebration. Lovely atmosphere
L. _.
Delicious and classy food. Really friendly staff. Peaceful atmosphere with a great view. The waitesses went the extra mile, they got my sister a hot lemon drink for her throat and made a cute happy birthday platter of treats that I wasn't expecting at all.
R. Y.
Our favourite restaurant in Reading. Superb food, atmosphere, venue and service. I hope one day they will hang one of my paintings on the wsll... 😀🤔
J. M.
Last Friday I enjoyed a lovely lunch with a friend at the London Street Brasserie. The food was delicious, the staff were all very friendly and attentive. Despite the restaurant being very busy, service was faultless.
I can't wait to return.
S. B.
My first visit, lovely food and and service. Was sat at a really small table but was moved when we asked if possible. Upstairs was much nicer but this section was not open as we dined at 4pm.
R. A.
Lovely Food as before but the menu and restaurant needs revamp
T. W. T.
Great for business lunch, sat outside as it was much cooler. Quick and courteous service without having to wait too long between the starter and mains.
S. H.
Bit disappointed tbh. Been looking foward to coming here for years, and the menu was promising, but the food was very underseasoned and thus a bit bland. Maybe I chose wrong....but wifey concured also
S. M.
Such a lovely restaurant! Always a good choice! Great food, great wine and cocktails. Lovely ambience. Attractive place to eat, inside and out. So nice to see boats and stand-up paddle boarders floating by on the canal in front of you. A reason to eat out in Reading! We have eaten there on and off for years and are never disappointed:)
M. H.
Friendly, attentive staff and well spaced tables leaving room to talk are a perfect backdrop to the fresh, tasty food.
P. W.
Nice ambience. My fish was a little small but v nice. Mussels plate look on the small side.. All meat looks good. Chips tasted fake. Expensive but a nice treat. Service good. Toilets OK but need deep clean and upstairs 😱.
A. K.
Wonderful choice of food including both A la carte and set lunch menu. Friendly restaurant staff
E. F.
Great food, great staff, great location, great atmosphere. Absolutely amazing ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A. B.
This is an amazing place, great food, friendly attentive staff. Well worth a visit!!!
T. B.
Fantastic evening. Very helpful staff. Excellent food & lovely room
S. C.
A really good meal in Nice relaxed atmosphere with lots of room between tables. Deserts delicious. Nice friendly staff. A bit pricy but worth every penny
k. t.
Crispy Dosa nice place to visit for authentic Indian food especially south India and many others places in this street to shop
M. W.
Excellent experience having lunch at LSB two weeks ago. Covid health and safety rules were applied and we felt very comfortable eating there (it was our first time eating indoors again since October 2020). Food was amazing - although the menu was very fish-oriented! - and service was very friendly. A great place for a special occasion!
T. H.
Booked the LSB for a company reunion. The staff were extremely helpful, attentive, and welcoming. Food was excellent and we have a great table overlooking the river (13 of us). Everyone had a good time and they were very comlimentary about the venue.
A. M.
As usual a great night at LSB. Friendly helpful staff, nice wine and lovely food. A great place for a special occasion.
N. M.
Lovely haggis starter, very tasty main and a lovely shot of rum in the desert.
S. D.
Tempted in by the early bird special blackboard but it was already too late for that so did end up very expensive. Sat outside over the river (blanket's provided) & food was very nice but you need to order veg separately too so I would say leave it for a special occasion or if the high price is no issue. Was disappointed that they don't even give you a trial piece of their fudge when you get the bill. Had to buy a box for £5.
l. f.
Fantastic service. The staff are so accomodating and the food was fantastic.
M. M.
The restaurant is clean. Not crowded. The food is of great quality, delicious and worth every penny. The waiters/waitresses very friendly. I'm definitely coming back
G. F.
Staff were welcoming, tables were well spaced and they had accommodated our arrival with a high chair for our child.
Oh, and obviously the food was delicious! They even have a seperste vegan menu.
V. B.
Met a friend for lunch here as Reading is halfway between London and Bristol where we live. I can only say I wish it was my local go to special eatery. Really interesting menu and the food was lovely as was the service as was the vibe (and that was Monday lunchtime). Nothing more to be said. A real gem.
c. m.
Amazing menu. Check the daily specials. Ordered the rabbit loin is was slightly over cooked but was delicious. Will come back to try some other options off the menu
F. F.
Good variety of food. They have specials as well. Must try when visiting. Excellent service and atmosphere too!
C. W.
Lunch with friends taking advantage of the government £10 discount. This is one of my favourite restaurants in Reading and our usual first choice if we want to treat ourselves. Their fixed price weekday lunchtime menus (till 6pm daily) are excellent, imaginative, and very good value for such quality. Staff are very good. The only downside is the wine costs which are fairly pricey, otherwise it would be 5 stars!
M. C.
Staff is first class. Food is lovely Will be going back soon
M. S. Z.
Nice food, nice environment. Unfortunately all the times I go there the person that comes with me is in a rush. I'll return there alone to enjoy at more enjoyable pace the food
G. A. J.
Spectacular steaks, really fantastic service, very romantic ambience and setting.
Update: went to lsb again on a Sunday and the food was OK, service was not good at all. Depends which day you go I guess.
C. C.
Lovely local establishment offering the standard of food seen in many London restaurants. At face value some dishes on the A l'carte menu may seem expensive but will not disappoint. The set menu available throughout the day and early evening is well worth a try, offering better value than many of the chain restaurants nearby. What's more they are fully prepared for anyone with an allergy, having menus pre printed for a range of allergies detailing the options - all of which I've alway found a large selection of options vs other places that leave you with a limited choice. Inside its light and airy, and in the summer its well worth grabbing an outside table to enjoy your meal by the river.
P. S.
Went here with my wife for her Birthday dinner. The ambiance is quite nice, with tables spaced about 6 feet apart from each other giving plenty of room to breathe in these Covid times.
The food was fantastic as always, with the Haggis starter proving to be the highlight of the evening - it was a large enough portion that it could have been dinner. My wife had the Thai green curry with chicken: it was a little too spicy but the chicken was really nice - it looked like poached boneless & skinless chicken thighs cooked just enough to make them safe while remaining juicy & delicious. I had the vegetarian Falafel with chargrilled veggies & a nice tomato couscous. The only niggle would be the chips - they are massive! They are almost too thick to be called chips, I felt like I was eating an entire potato with every single chip. They would have scored a 10/10 if the chips were thinner. The parmesan & truffle seasoning was the way to go though, adding tremendous flavour to the chips.
Both of our meals were fantastic. Add in out beverages and the meal cost just shy of £100 including tip so it's an expensive meal, but I think the quality of the food and the ambiance justify the price to some extent. We will continue to visit London Street Brasserie for our special evenings out.
Food Scores:
Haggis starter: 10/10
Watermelon, bean sprout & sugar cane chicken: 7/10
Thai green curry: 8/10
Chicken pea & Cep Falafel: 8/10
Parmesan & Truffle chips: 6/10

Stunning Food, atmosphere, and professional waitrons. 5⭐
T. S.
Great evening, good food service and selection of wines and traditional beers....consistently good!

Sunday roast was unapologetically rare. My husband asked for medium rare and simply got blue rare. He couldn't eat this. The response from the staff was that this is how its 'cooked' here and we were forewarned.
R. I.
Relaxed but attentive service. Superb lunch menu. Good range of wines.
Update:
New executive chef; food now even better!
Venison with haggis and roast grapes is delicious. Pistachio fondant with fig Alaska was revelatory. Best meal out in Reading in over 21 years of being here.
A. L.
Great place for work celebratory lunches. Really well looked after here, wide wine selection and food that induces food envy and surprisingly tasty and generous portions. Go hungry!
D. K. C.
Absolutely great evening and meal! Really tasty and visually pleasing !

We arrived without having a booking as it was a last moment decision. The staff was very willing to find us a table for 4. At this stage, they didn't ask if we want to have a dinner or not. We had a sit to a comfortable table and a lady came to take the order. Apparently we visited this place only for drinks and desert as it was too early for us to have a dinner. The lady told us that she expected a larger order than the one we did... I literally don't know from where this expectation came from since they didn't ask at the first place. Moreover, they requested from us to move to a different table, at the back, because we were not planning to have a dinner. I think that this is fair enough, but they should have requested it since we arrived and not later. Last but not least, we kindly asked if we could go to an outdoors table to have a better view and the lady told us that we are going to switch with another group of people who wanted to come indoors. Apparently, something like that never happened and we were served 10 minutes later to this table at the back. The drinks and the deserts were great and we really enjoyed the silent place at the back, so the review will be generous (3/5) despite the totally unprofessional behaviour of the staff. We would like to visit this place again in the future to also taste their food and we hope that it was just a bad time. Thanks!
A. D.
Fantastic food. Lovely presentation. Healthy sized portions. Friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Reading is lucky to have a restaurant of this quality.
L. B.
Excellent food, drinks and service. Lovely riverside setting with outdoor seating for nice weather. Menu options are a fantastic la carte or if you're on a slimmer budget you can dine off the also very nice set menu if you get there before 7pm on a mon-thur.
N. J.
Popped in for an impromptu lunch and was delighted with the very high standard of friendly service and wonderful food. Haven't visited for a while and is was great to be back
S. G.
Fantastic, great menu, great service and incredible food.
W. H.
This place is consistently good. We were on the ground floor this time in a group of ten. It was nice down there, close to the bar and with lots of attention from the waiting staff. Upstairs appeared to be mostly empty. When it is busy up there, the sound levels make conversation impossible. But being in a group downstairs, we were well able to hear each other. As always, the food was excellent, as was the service. I just wish there were more vegetarian and vegan options. There are so few that I end up always having the same thing, so I tend to avoid the place any more frequently than once every couple of years. I'd go far more often if there were more veggie options.
C. C.
Compare to Cote, this place serves better food and the value is good. It is a cozy place to hang out and I would definitely go again. One thing is that their lunch menu is a steal.
P. L. T.
Excellent food and service - the best I have been to in Reading
F. G.
Best restaurant in Reading for me! Service is exceptional, food is stellar! Prices are a little higher than the average but you have to pay to have quality.
M. G.
Once again fantastic service and amazing food well done to Jason and all the team . Still friendly lively atmosphere all be reduced compacity.
Went with 4 friends and all made to feel so welcome and nothing to much trouble.
As usual food top quality without doubt the best place to eat in reading .
Big thanks to Shaun to help make end of evening a bit special helping us with coffee and pudding with very personal service.
Great staff , great food , been a long 3 months not going to brasserie as our favourite place to eat in reading.
Well done see you again soon
G. R.
Excellent food and drinks, friendly helpful staff.
H. S.
Ask me in a months time but from what I've seen of it so far it seems a nice place .I've never met a nice South African and that's not bloody surprising man!!
S. R.
Beautiful flavours,good service. Highly recommended.

Visited on the 26/07/2020 with a group of 3.
The food was absolutely gorgeous, every single dish was just perfection.
Service was fast and the restaurant is immaculate.
Only little thing that was a shame was that the set menu on the website did not match the set menu in the restaurant. Flagged this to the server and was told the menu online must not have been updated.
But, other than that the food and service was brilliant!
g. e.
Nice food and service

We spent a lovely Saturday afternoon celebrating with 15 friends and family. The team at London Street Brasserie handled us with ease. The communication in advance was simple and effective, the service on the day was excellent without being intrusive, the setting overlooking the river was perfect and the menu was excellent. A range of traditional and unusual dishes - all delicious. Generous portions at reasonable prices. It was our first visit but it won’t be our last.
A. C.
We had a nice lunch from their £19 2-course deal and sat outside watching the ducks so very covid compliant. Loved the haggis starter. Great selection of wines including by the glass.
C. C.
Plenty of character plus very good beer, good service.
A. S.
Lovely restaurant in Reading. Friendly service and good options on the menu. Nice place for a dinner for two or groups. The Builder's Tea Brûlée dessert is amazing so I would definitely recommend it! The upper floor gives you a good view of the centre with nice lights on the canal in the evening.
K. A.
Fabulous lazy Sunday lunch on the terrace. The set menu remains excellent value and the service was lovely.
Thoroughly enjoyed my tiger prawn guacamole/Caesar followed by the confit duck/Asian salad. Highlight has to be the Jamaican mess, though - perfect sundae for a hot day.
G. B.
Came for an impromptu meal after being let down by another restaurant and had a great time. It was my daughters 13th birthday and the restaurant could not have been more accommodating. Had a very relaxed meal and great experience. Certainly will be back for more.
R. S.
Have been coming for 20 years and it’s still very good. My girls love it and always eat their best food there. Service is professional and proper. COVID-19 measures are in place with good spacing between tables.
L. J.
Visited on Monday the 5th and it was nicely busy. We ate from the excellent vegan menu (you have to ask) and the service was attentive, witty and efficient. We will be back despite the eye wateringly expensive wine bill!
C. D.
Fantastic food and good, friendly service. impresses every time we go
S. L.
Excellent service and food!
E. J.
Below average service for the price you pay. Overpriced wine and starters. Asked my lamb to be medium but received well done and overcooked on both sides (dark side in the pic). When asked the waiter he just pretended that this is normal. I wonder how well done will look then
M. C.
For the price, the food is good enough but the service was unacceptable.
When we booked, we were told we could only have the table for two hours.
We weren't offered drinks until we ordered our food (about twenty minutes after we arrived), and struggled to catch the eye of waiting staff to order a second round later in the meal. After we finished our main course, we stacked our own plates and waited for at least another twenty minutes for them to be collected. In the meantime, the manager wandered over and checked the radiator next to our table but didn't acknowldege us.
By the time the plates were cleared, our two hours were up! No time for dessert.
We were squashed up against the table next to us, the music was loud and the lighting was dim.
The waitress was delightful though
D. C.
Returned for the first time in ages. Had a selection of starters for lunch and all were great without exception. Service good too.

Spent the Saturday afternoon at London Street Brasserie with friends. What a lovely building, lovely choice in seating areas, friendly and kind staff and lastly what beautiful food! First time visit and will most definitely be back and recommending to friends and family. Excellent value for money. Lovely atmosphere for all occasions, special birthday or anniversary, romantic meal for two, afternoon out with friends and family.
Thank you for a very lovely dining experience.
R.
Brought my mum here for mother's day and had a really lovely lunch. The food was delicious and I'd have expected to walk away with a bill twice the size if I'd eaten in London. Great service, the maitre'd was friendly and although clearly very busy didn't allow that to affect his manner. Thoroughly recommended.
A.
One of the nicer places to eat in Reading. You'd most likely need to book a table (FYI)
Food is good, service is friendly and the atmosphere is quite nice.
(Pick the river viewing table in the summer.)
It's certainly pricier than other local restaurants and if it were a tad cheaper I'd probably go more often. (Expect £20 - £30 per person)
Still a great place, still great food, still good service 6 years on still reasonable price! -Upgrading to 5 stars.
E. B.
Food was fantastic quality, however our waitress showed poor service. Had to wait for starters over an hour and for olives 45mins. And it seemed that we had to chase her all evening. She never came to check on us, not once. The guy who seemed like a manager try to fix the situation a bit :) but overall great food, great view.
T. C.
LSB had been our favourite restaurant since we moved to Reading 20 year's ago. There is a consistent, relaxed dining theme running all through those year's. The food is fantastic and the service is always on point.
If you are looking for starched, table hovering service and poncey 'Michelin' style foam's look elsewhere. If, however, you're looking for great food and drink served by passionate relaxed host's at sensible prices LSB is very very difficult to beat. We've been fortunate to enjoyed Ray Whites world famous gastro pub near Oxford (🤭😲) and I'd say LSB is a kitchen garden away from being on par as a dining experience. Love this place.
B. J.
Lovely dinner. Great cocktails, very attentive staff. Would love to go back. :)
J. I.
Celebrated our wedding anniversary here like we do every year. This was probably the busiest we've ever seen it, which is really good. Hard to have a conversation though, and we did have to send back some of the food but they were really lovely and gave us a lovely plate at the end of the meal. Will always go back.

I would have totally given this extra stars if I wasn't a vegetarian and found the lack of choice disappointing. We chose to pick from the set Sunday menus where there was only 1 option for starter and main which I obviously had to choose. Both delicious but also both practically a fancy salad just dressed up differently. My partner who is full meat eater could not fault the food.
M. B.
Visited for Sunday lunch, on the off chance they had a space as I have heard it is very popular. Luckily as it was late we got in, the staff were excellent and very helpful.
We opted for the 2 course menu having a starter and main course. For the main we both had the roast beef and compared to some other places we have eaten recently this was brilliant with plenty of vegetables on the side.
I would recommend this as a good place to eat in Reading, but check you don't need to book at more popular times.
They have some nice views out over the river so a great place to sit and eat during the summer.
A. M.
Best restaurant in Reading. Period.
I used to try a different place in Reading every week. Then, I settled for the London Street Brasserie.
Service is very good but don't quote me on it. It could show some inconsistencies on your various visits.
Food is excellent. Consistently excellent. This is not the place where your steak is not cooked to perfection. This is a proper cuisine.
Price-wise, I pay about £10 more per guest comparatively to other restaurants in the area but it's really good value for money.
B. M.
Excellent food and service. Friendly and attentive staff throughout our evening meal.
H. W.
Food arrived after 1 hour and 10 minutes. One plate was lukewarm, so sent back. However, the manager and our waiter were polite and apologetic. We got free wine and some free food. The food at LSB is excellent and we shall definitely return.
R. H.
Great fixed price menu, though small selection, at £16.50 for 2 courses plus x4. 50 for dessert, though not all of us stuck to it. Lovely smoked salmon, excellent Iberico ham, very nice Cornish crab. Very nice sea bass mains, though the veg could have been better if not 'steamed' by being served with the fish over. Good cheese board (though served too cold) and nice creme brulee. Good wine list. Good service.
M. R.
Once again their early bird menu offered great value for money and really excellent food. I'm not a vegetarian but chose veggie options as they looked delicious, and they were! Starter had risotto balls and main was falaffel with roasted carrots, beetroot and a few other things.
Friendly attentive service too
D. A.
Some of the best food I've ever eaten. Great atmosphere and location. Wonderful service. Would and have eaten here plenty more times.
O. K.
Dropped into this restaurant by chance for a quick lunch, and was quite impressed. The service was great, and the the food was delightful.
I will try to book a table for dinner if I am in the area again.
G. D.
Excellent atmosphere, great service, delicious food and fantastic wine. Lovely friendly restaurant... what is there not to love about this fine place ?
J. G.
Place for a special lunch or dinner. Great wine list and great mid week set menu offers to make it an affordable place to go.
g. b.
Very good food and choice on menu
L. G.
Time and time again this is a lovely place to dine whether casual or for a special occasion. The food is top notch and their set menu is outstanding value (2 courses £17). Can't recommend highly enough!
N. G.
Visited several times now and each time the food has been fantastic. A very warm friendly atmosphere, and the service is great. The set menu is great value too
T. A.
Excellent food in a lovely dining room.
A. G.
Dined here recently for a special occasion and can not recommend it highly enough! Nice decor but what made our evening was the attentive but not over-fussy service and of course the fantastically fresh, skilfully prepared, seasonal dishes.
Irish rock oysters and the treacle marinated Salmon were both exceptional. Will DEFINITELY be back in future.
D. C.
Great tasting food, good wine list and great service. I was alone for dinner, they let me pick the table location, nice to window, that was a good start. Because I arrived before 7pm, I had access to the "Set Luncheon Menu" for 15.95 pound. I took the Hummus as the starters, and it was really fresh and tasty. Then I had the Rump steak which was cook to perfection. The server lady, Neil, was not only good looking, but she was smiling all the time and very efficient. The place was full. Overall a great experience that I recommend without hesitation.
C. S.
Staff are very friendly. The food was delicious and the tables were very spaced out which was really nice particularly as both my parents are in the extremely vulnerable category.
Iam going back on Wednesday with my sister a great find.
A.
Very nice food and friendly service.
Prices a bit higher than most other places of the same standard.
Particularly recommend the lamb, delicious.
If I had to find something wrong with the place it would be that I had the worst espresso ever here... which was a shame considering how good the food is!
K. T.
Lovely place and great food.
J. C.
With so many eateries in The Oracle I decided to look at their online menus and decided on the London Street Brasserie and WOW how glad we were. The atmosphere as we went in was gently buzzing, the staff really friendly without being OTT and the food... OMG...just devine.
My husband had the duck and I had the lamb and it was the best lamb I had ever tasted, and I've gone through a great deal of lamb looking for the perfect dish and this was it. I tried their Ginger and Lemongrass soft drink and again, the taste was spot on and a perfect blend of the two. If you're in Reading then I suggest you give them a try as it's just a wonderful place to go.
M. E.
Great food, menu varies with season and availability, lovely location, but the service can be brilliant or lacking on different occasions. You also can feel hemmed in on certain tables and as you’re going to be paying high end prices this can take the shine off slightly.
A. C.
Another fantastic experience at LSB. Celebrating my birthday, all the staff contributed to a great meal, helping to make it a memorable occasion.
Special mention to our waiter Andre, who did a brilliant job to ensure we were looked after without being intrusive.
R. B.
Good quality food, though probably not for those who like their food well done. Can be noisy once it fills up. Staff all excellent. But we did find a bottle of wine that we didn't have itemised on the bill.
a. t.
I guess... this can be an anti-review for Simona Dudova's review. I've just been there for my birthday, 4 days ago, and everything was just perfect. A lot of care and attention from the stuff. The food was very good and perfectly cooked. I've even received a Happy Birthday written in chocollate in my own mother language - courtesy to the staff being very attentive. The steaks we had were absolutely smashing perfect {Medium and Medium Rare} and the sauces came in separate small individual pans. Don't get me wrong - it was expensive but I'm never going to feel sorry for such an exceptional treat. I've been to some very posh places in London and although the prices are similar to LSB - the quality of service, food and atmosphere just isn't there for London...
Vilma - I did not forget you - THANK YOU again for the wonderful experience. We're coming back soon!!!
Best wishes.
E. H.
Nice area to sit outside next to the river, and it's shielded from the noise of the road so quieter than the other places along Reading Riverside. Food is fancy but not pretentious.
Staff are very polite and friendly, food was very delicious.
C. a.
Went out for a meal with my best friend tonight. I knew the service, food and overall experience was going to be excellent. Seeing my friend delight over his meal was priceless. Thankyou Mike and kitchen team for a delicious and wonderful meal. And thankyou olive and the other girls who were attentive but not overly so.i look forward to visiting again. Overall experience was wonderful thankyou. X
M. C.
To do 170 covers in one night with food of that quality is seriously impressive. Great to meet the chef and shake his hand. Service superb too. Particularly for a table of 10 👍👍
A. K.
waited over 1 hour for our mains, while the two tables after us had the same main courses before our table!!!
How can they mess up the order so badly?? Or did they just forgot our order??
The management here is not great...no explanations...said the mains are coming, we still have to wait for another 10 -15 minutes, our later plans are spoiled.
*Amended* the manager gave us some petite sweets as apologie.
Would consider come back during weekdays
S. O. R.
Just at entrance to Riverside of Oracle centre. Nice menu. Lovely food. Good staff. Popular on Sundays. Need to get there quick as not very big and gets full very quickly. Used to be an old Toll bridge house. Nice wine selection.
J. F.
Over the years I have eaten here many times. The LSB is consistent in food quality, and generally the staff are helpful and friendly.
I would highly recommend you pop in for a set lunch and judge for yourself - expect to pay around £30 per head, excluding wine. Don't worry: you'll be well fed! It is well worth it.
R. L.
It's been awhile, but as ever the food is outstanding. Still Readings best restaurant.
T. P.
Great location for a good, high quality lunch or dinner. Always good service, with friendly staff. Booking recommend at the weekend. Really nice in the summer to sit outside and enjoy food.
S. M.
Fantastic birthday meal, great food, great service.
R. H.
Nice place, Nice food, but not big on portions, Poor service- had to ask for drinks menu, when empty had to ask again- had to ask for dessert menu and had to ask again to order. Very frustrating for the prices you should have a better service. There was one girl who did help a lot but she wasn't the girl on our table that's why it 3stars not 2.
P. S.
We came here for a work Christmas dinner, the food was extremely good! And the cocktails were just as good! I would definitely come back. The portion size was a little on the small size, otherwise it would have been 5 stars
R. C.
For the price would expect more with flavours and how they build the dishes
The fish is fresh and drinks are delicious
J. A.
Really enjoyed my visit. Popular. Reasonable menu, good service, pricing ok for Reading town centre. Reasonable range of wine and lager but limited to bottled beer with a single exception Some tables overlook the canal (by way of added interest.)
C. A.
Nice experience, delicious food, good international wine variety and kind service.
B. I.
Great food with varied menu and decent selection of drinks. Staff looked after us well. Separate menu for vegans which apparently has a good selection of options catering for all tastes
T. B.
Highway robbery at the former 18th Century coaching inn. Paid £65 pp for Valentines meal from the set menu. The food we had was from their al la carte menu and if I had bought the same food on any other day we would have saved £50 what's that about? And then stung witha £15 surcharge. Food very good, loved the pickled cucumber with scallops, efficient friendly staff. I deffinently go back just not on Valentine's day
J. L.
I've been here many times for lunch and dinner, special occasions and business lunches and it is always excellent. Have had some memorable meals - if you are near the Oracle in reading seek this out. It's just a few yards from the mass-market places along the riverside but well worth the couple of minutes extra walk.
D. A.
Only been here once but would definitely return. The menu is not huge which is great in my opinion but still you will never be stuck for choice. The wine list was very good, this place is not cheap but you come away feeling it was worth every penny. Great location too
S. W.
Fantastic food but seems they have kitchen issues. It took 10 mins between 1st person and 5th person to get mains…
H. C.
We had lunch sat outside by the river during a busy lunch time. The service and food were faultless. Would definitely reccomend for people wanting a nice restaurant in Reading which isn't part of a chain.
S. O.
We went on NewYears Eve we had a table of 4.
Everything was fantastic from start to finish.
The staff were really lovely and very helpfu.
The good was truly amazing.
The whole experience was outstanding.
Can't wait to go back.
Not only was it New Years Eve. It was also my Birthday.
Malcolm & Shelley Morris
J. M.
The food was fantastic and varied, the staff were knowledgeable and the wine was great. It's also a lovely place to sit and enjoy.
J. B.
Went to the brasserie for casual drinks and meal with my family for my birthday a while ago - sean was the assistant manager I believe and his service was impeccable! He made us feel like royalty. He waited on us hand and foot! My mum is a difficult customer as it is but he dealt with her questions and made her feel very comfortable!
All staff were amazing at the brasserie so hats of to you! A very fine establishment!! However Sean wherever you are thank you and wish you all the best! Very kind young lad and he should be the standard of all service in restrauants! Amazing!
R. P. V.
We went for dinner and the service was very good since we arrived. The food and wine menu is also quite good. I would definitely come back as it has a nice atmosphere and our food that evening was very well prepared and presented.
J. T.
my first visit here, food was excellent and the wine, nice welcome, staff were superb,i would certainly come back again,a great birthday treat, recommended.
M. G.
Tasty food and beautiful environment inside. Unique for Riverside and Reading as a whole. From the outside it looks like it would be dingy and stuffy but it's very different inside. Worth a try if you want to do something different. Little more expensive than the other restaurants though.
A. R.
In short, the charming decor and lack of other decent 'non-chain' options nearby makes the set menu worth turning up for.... but if you're thinking a la carte, jump on the train to London where you can eat far better, for a lot less - even with the train fare included.
That said the food was good... just didn't stand out. Cuts of meat were also quite fatty, with the use of salt, rather pronounced.
Worst thing by far however was the formatting of the menu - as strange as it may sound. Horribly cluttered, with each option comprising a shopping list of everything included... rather than perhaps highlighting the key features of the dish, and then noting secondary, complimenting flavours underneath. Felt like we were reading an essay, took an age to stagger through, and moreover gave us differing impressions of dishes to what actually arrived.
All in all, a nice spot to while away an early evening, with food that you won't send back, but that also won't transport you to heaven and back either. Go if someone else is offering, but eat in London, better, for half that.
G. L.
LSB has its very own take on imaginative modern British cuisine and British classics. Balanced use of good quality, carefully sourced ingredients with perfectly combined salad and seasonal veg make for interesting dishes at the same time comforting and challenging to the senses supplemented by their attention to textures.
A good selection of wines from across the world adds to a good experience.
This all comes at a bit of a price so you will not escape for less than £50 per head but worth it even if only for a special celebration.
T. W.
Amazingly good food and fine dining at it's best. Staff very attentive. In town so easy to get to too...
P. B.
Great food, good menu selection, great staff.
A. C.
Food was excellent, set menu is reasonably priced and staff were very friendly and helpful. My only gripe is that it was very busy and our table was very close to another so we didn't have much privacy.
S. B.
LSB has a wonderful, delicious and ever so tasty menu. Including provision for gluten and lactose free diners. Going there is always a treat.
H. R.
Food was great as always. Felt really comfortable with the social distance measures they put in place. Service was really good too.
a. s.
An excellent experience.
Lovely food in a lovely restaurant, attentive service and a friendly and warm ambience.
Recommended highly.
R. O.
Nice menu. Friendly staff. It was very busy on the night, as a consequence service was very slow. Might have been a reflection of the night we dined rather than the restaurant in general.
N. K.
Delicious food, and the lunch time/early evening meal is very reasonable. If you're feeling a bit more flash with your cash, the a la carte or party menus are also very nice.
N. V.
It's a lovely, cozy place. The staff was helpful and welcoming plus the decoration makes you feel comfortable and chilled.
Had the halibut and was superb!
A good place for a date.
M. R.
Great birthday lunch! Nice atmosphere and amazing food!
C. V.
They set standards. Unpretentious, authentic, and smiles for free. 5 stars and if you have ever wondered how amazing venesin and haggis could be, make the pilgrimage to the amazing culinary delights at London Street Brasserie. By the way the veiws of the river downton Reading are also lovely.
R. Y.
Top food, venue, ambience, service and fizz.... recommended...
A. D.
First time there. Excellent service and imaginative menu. Lovely mains and exceptional deserts. We will be back.
E. B.
Excellent meal and wine. Great setting in the upstairs area. Very lovely staff and service. Can't wait to go back!
J. C.
Great meal and great service...highly recommended
L. M.
We had an amazing roast beef takeaway for Mother’s Day. So pleased we chose LSB. Thank you.
E. E.
One of the oldest and best long standing restaurants based near the Oracle. Wonderful ambience and service. Serving awesome food to die for. Simply perfect for all occasions.
A. W.
Slightly overpriced for the quality of food. Squid was ok but fillet steak wasn't perfect . Staff very professional and nice. Overall good
A. A.
Nice and fresh meal... very cool place to eat and relax
H. E.
Really lovely meal, the staff are all amazing. It's a small place so I'd definitely book in advance it is well worth it
d. a.
One of the best places in Reading for food. Hidden gem. Beautiful outdoor patio alongside the river. Food is outstanding.
Service is great.
Recommended.
A. G.
The food was amazing! I had the verloin and my family had the lamb, the duck and the salmon. Everything was spot on! The dessert was wonderful too. The service was impeccable.
K. H.
Staff were really nice, lots of options for nail colours and they are happy to do what you ask for. My daughter and I are happy with our results.
L. S.
Food not that great. Service was slow even if it was a busy week night. Almost 2 hours waiting for our starter. Waitress was very good and friendly.
C. D.
I really enjoyed my visit here great food and although the place was really busy for lunch, the staff ensured I didn't feel neglected at any time. I would highly recommend
M. P.
Wonderful meal, great people who work there, cannot recommend it highly enough. If you want an excellent night out....London St Brasserie
a. p.
This is my favourite restaurant in Reading! The service is fantastic and the food is amazing. The white chocolate and passion fruit macaroons are a must if you visit in the summer.
T.
Very good food! Generally good service, but we did feel forgotten once a large group of people were seated.
D. W.
Certainly one of the better restaurants in the town. There are deals on daily meals served up to late afternoon / early evening. The a la carte menu is more extensive and more expensive.
A. S.
Nice atmosphere. Good quality food although the puddings looked bought in Overall relaxing lunch.
e. s.
a delightful change to the somewhat excessive chain restaurant options of reading, a great independant in the heart of the town, great local produce and provenance is key! the pastry chef cooks in front of the bar so freshly baked products and aromas hit you upon arrival, check it out, greta for a boozy afternoon or a romantic dinner
D. L.
Food was great, staff very friendly a very nice atmosphere
r. H.
Food is always great.
C. H.
My favourite restaurant for celebrations, birthdays, even just a good lunch with a friend. Fantastic service and fresh produce, constantly changing menu and views over the River Kennett.
A. E.
Really good food and excellent service. Thoroughly recommended.
M. L.
Half brilliant and half bad = Good
Pink carved Gressingham duck breast, orange fondant potato, grilled asparagus, young carrots, red wine jus.
Duck was pretty tuff. One breast overcooked, the other red in the middle and over on the outside. Skin was not crisp, but chewy. Asparagus very overcooked. Other veg hit and miss (the carrot was not "young". Not a spoonful of Jus. Potato not orange in flavour.
Salty caramel & peanut macaroons, dark chocolate mousse.
Beautiful stuff. Great flavour combinations and cooked nicely. Almost made up for the extremely overpriced duck
A. M.
Really nice and romantic place to eat and treat loved ones. Will go there again. A bit on the pricey side but well worth it.
P. B.
The place looks nice, but if you just want a snack or cup of coffee then go somewhere else. Good for eating out though. Nice view of the river is an added bonus.
S. K.
This place is wonderful. So friendly it feels like visiting friends. Except none of my friends can cook quite this well!
L. B.
Had our Christmas Do here - good food, wine and service as always. Highly recommend this place and always return for either a spot of lunch or an occasion
S. J.
The food is good but quite expensive. Starters seem to be better than the mains. Good ambiance especially if sat downstairs.
L. c.
Restaurant near oracle and delicious food, a little bit expensive though .
J. f.
Couldn't book online but was worth asking whether they could fit 2 of us in as they did.
S. J.
Wonderful food! Great atmosphere. A lovely place to go for a special celebration meal.
D. N.
Friendly staff, vibrant atmosphere. Lovely food
S. B.

Great food but needs a good clean doors are all covered in dirt where they’ve not been cleaned in a long time
Disappointing to see in a nice restaurant

A. M.
Food excellent great service price reasonable what's not to like 3 course lunch for 4 with wine £160 not had at all
J. C.
Great food, not enough staff on a Sunday. I would suggest adding some anchovies to the tomato sauce to ghve it more flavour.
G. S.
It's not the cheapest in town but you certainly get what you pay for. Superb food, great service and quite a lively atmosphere when it's busy. Would definitely recommend.
M. S.

D. N.
Very nice luncheon in great surroundings served by professional staff, will certainly go again.

Lovely food and a nice romantic restaurant. They do a lunch two course meal up until about 7 which is better value.
